How I Survived My Alcoholic Mother

Our Soberlebrity - Stephanie Rawlings joins Jamie Brickhouse to share her experience growing up with an alcoholic mother. She shares some of her mother’s erratic behavior throughout her childhood such as the abuse she suffered, watching her mother go through DTs, and much more. 

After watching her mother and other family members struggle with alcoholism, Stephanie’s perception of alcohol was changed drastically. She is mindful of the damage it can cause and only uses it in moderation. 

Through finding acceptance of her mother, she has been able to move on from her damaging childhood and find a sense of healing. Today, she knows she is not a victim and that her mother’s alcoholism was not her fault. While striving to be a better person and mother that she has allowed herself to be perfectly imperfect.
