Welcome back to the podcast.
If you are new here, I'm Rae.
I'm a somatic coach andbreathwork facilitator, and if
you aren't new here, welcomeback.
I'm so glad that you're tuningin to today's episode.
So our first episode for themonth of March and for today's
topic, we're going to be talkingabout breathwork and creativity

(01:09):
, and that is this month's themefor the month of March.
So creativity is what we'll beworking with, and I chose this
topic for a few differentreasons.
So the first is creativity,specifically, is currently a
part of my core values andthat's something that I talked
about a few episodes ago.

(01:30):
To me, it's like the most funthing right now.
Like I don't know, I'm justhaving a lot of fun with
creativity specifically, and Ishare a little bit about this.
In episode 62, I think it wasabout my core values
specifically, but creativity tome in this moment means being

(01:52):
able to express myself freely inmy work, in my business, on the
podcast, creating content,writing, creating art and just
overall as an entrepreneur, mybusiness is like such a fun
creative outlet for me, and sothis quality of creativity when
doing all of like the deeperwork inner child healing,

(02:14):
somatic therapy, breath work,emotional healing, anxiety work
it's really nice to have anelement that's incorporated,
that is fun and light-heartedand spacious, and so that's how,
or one of the reasons how, Ipicked creativity as this
month's theme and then the otherwas oftentimes I feel like
creative creativity can be likean antidote of some sort to some

(02:40):
of that deeper emotionalhealing work, so we can
sometimes get lost in the mix ofit, whether it's anxiety or
shame or grief or sadness, andcreativity is one way to have an
outlet of possibility andcuriosity and all these other
elements can come into play whenyou're working with creativity

(03:01):
and you're also doing thatdeeper inner work.
So one tool specifically that Iabsolutely love to use for
creativity is breathwork.
If I do breathwork, I willusually have like a million
bajillion business ideas.
After a good breathwork session, like I just feel so light and
so airy and so spacious.

(03:21):
And if I had an emotionalrelease and I cried like, forget
about it, I'm going to befeeling so much more connection
to possibility and openness onthe other side of that
breathwork session than I didwhen I first started.
And if you wanna do abreathwork practice for this
month, definitely check out theYouTube channel.

I post a guided practice thereeach month and so this month's
will be on creativity.
And then another thing that Ialso find is really helpful for
creativity in a differentpractice is the somatic healing
work, so really allowingyourself to get curious with

(04:02):
what might be happening for youin the body, so that if anything
needs to complete, it will beable to, and that will also help
to shift your perspective.
So basically, betweenbreathwork and somatic healing
and creativity, it basicallycomes down to how much can you
quiet the mind Right, connectwith your body and really hear

(04:28):
the sound of your intuition andthe sound of your creative voice
, so that those ideas can comeonline and can be expressed, and
that expression will lookdifferent for everybody.
So, for you, what is yourfavorite way to express yourself
right now?
Is it through writing?

(04:49):
Is it through drawing?
Is it through creatingsomething like content or a blog
or a podcast episode?
You know, where in your life doyou have those creative outlets
that feel really exciting andgood for you?
And I will also say they don'thave to be like public outlets.

(05:10):
You know like you don't need tohave like an online brand or
really be in any realm of thatfor you to feel like you have a
creative outlet.
It could be in how you, youknow, write your emails at work.
It could be how you communicatewith your friends.
It be, um, a note section inyour phone.
I'm big on that.
I love the note section of myphone and I have in my note

(05:34):
section.
Each month I create a new notefor that month and I write down
all of these creative ideas thatcome through.
And right now I'm not reallyshowing up as much on social
media, um, intentionally, but Ido have a section in my notes
where it's just like content,ideas, because that's part of
something that comes through forme with creativity and like

(05:54):
some of them you know they don'thave to always come to fruition
or anything like that, but itis like a nice place to have
just a creative outlet, a placewhere you can let your
creativity really shine and beexpressed and then from there
you can create, you know,anything that you'd then.
From there, you can create, youknow anything that you'd like
from there.
So another example that I canshare with you is I've been

(06:14):
starting to write more.
I write personally, like in myown journal and in my own phone
and my notes section and anycontent that I put out, or even
like this on the podcast, like Ido write, but in this sense,
even like this on the podcast,like I do write.
But in this sense I'm writing alittle bit differently, where
I'm writing like pieces, likepoetry and like creative essays

(06:36):
and just whatever kind of comesthrough, and there's no force or
structure around it.
It's really just to be just aplace for me to have fun, and so
I have a new sub stack thatI've been writing on, which has
been fun and, yeah, just likeinvitation for you to kind of
look at what.
In what ways it doesn't have tobe writing for you, it could be

(06:57):
, it could be anything, but inwhat ways would it be really fun
for you to express yourselfcreatively and what might that
look like Like?
How would that?
What would that look like inyour life, like what's possible?
And then the other aspect ofcreativity that I would love to
speak to is if you're feelingcreatively blocked, so this can

(07:19):
show up as brain fog, likephysically just not feeling like
you can think straight.
This could look like beingoverly stressed, overwhelmed,
burnt out, fatigue.
So there's a lot of differentways that creative blocks can
show up and what does that feellike for you in the body in
those moments of life?

(07:40):
There are certain things that Ithink add to being creatively
blocked the overuse of AI.
I feel like if we are justconstantly leaning on something
else to give us ideas, that canlead to kind of like a creative
blur.
So just being mindful of how youuse AI, if you do use it, I

(08:02):
think our diet can reallycontribute to how we think
creatively.
So if you're, you know, afteryou eat like a huge meal, or
maybe you eat a meal that's likenot that good for you, like a
lot of fried food or somethingafter you might not be feeling
your best, you might not befeeling as creative as you
normally would.
I think scrolling on socialmedia is definitely something

(08:22):
that can stifle our creativity.
And just seeing, like all theseI mean it's it's all these
different ideas that are comingso, so fast and all this
information that, if you're justlike scrolling and scrolling
and scrolling, so just beingmindful, if that's something
like after you scroll, do youfeel creatively open, creatively

(08:43):
blocked, creatively expressed,drained?
How does it make you feel?
If you are experiencing any ofthese blocks, whether it's from
AI or diet, scrolling, alcohol,whatever it might be I think the
first step is having awarenessaround it and noticing the when

(09:05):
things feel tight or tense orstuck or not working out the way
that you would like them to, doyou force?
Do you breathe?
Do you pause?
Does the pause feel accessibleto you?
I think sometimes it can feellike life is moving so fast and

(09:26):
if we were to just like pauseand take a beat and chill for
like a few, for like a second,and just like really, really
really pause like, get connectedto that present moment.
You will see so much ispossible in moving your energy,
shifting how you feel, movingthrough a creative block, moving

(09:47):
through tension and reallynoticing how your body, how,
when your body really relaxes,your mind can open.
So, to summarize, how doescreativity and creative
expression show up for you?
What are some tools that youlike to use to unlock your
creativity?
And when you do unlock thatcreativity, how are you hoping

(10:11):
to express it, to create what itwould feel like really nice for
you to create?
If it was anything, what wouldbe something that you would love
to just express yourself andcreate at this current time?
And when you do feel blocked,are you able to pause?
Are you able to take a beat,take a second check in with your
body and does that pause reallyfeel accessible to you?

(10:31):
