(00:45):
Let's dive in.
Welcome back to the podcast.
If you are new here, I'm Rae.
I'm a somatic coach andbreathwork facilitator, and if
you aren't new here, welcomeback.
I'm so glad that you are tuningin for today's episode.
So some front desk items beforewe dive in.
(01:06):
I know I mentioned a fewepisodes ago I think it was in
February that I'm looking torebrand the podcast a little bit
, and so that would look likehaving a new name.
Basically, the update is that Idon't have that new name yet.
So that's's the update.
I'm still not sure what torename the podcast, so I was
(01:29):
hoping I would receive likeinsight this past weekend when I
was in California for um, likean energetics retreat, and
that's not what happened.
So I'm just gonna continue towait patiently until I get this
download of what the name shouldbe.
So I'm playing around with afew ideas, but definitely stay
(01:49):
tuned because it might, when itdoes change, you know, you'll be
aware.
The second thing that I had foryou is that the monthly
newsletter goes out on April 1stand I believe that's next week.
So if you want to receive that, definitely sign up to receive
it.
The link is in the show notes.
It includes a monthly theme.
(02:11):
It includes a mantra for themonth, a guided somatic practice
, journaling prompts, podcastupdates, life updates.
It's like a nice little.
Uh well, it's actually not thatlittle, it pretty comprehensive
, but it's sent to your inbox onthe 1st of every month.
And then there's like a mininewsletter sent on the 15th of
(02:32):
every month, yeah, and it's justlike super fun.
So if that interests you, signup for that in the show notes,
yeah, and so today's topic isall around owning your
self-expression and the themefor the month of March was
creativity, and so thisdefinitely goes hand in hand
with that topic.
(02:53):
And when you're in your, youknow, in your flow and in joy
and feeling like you can fullyexpress yourself, you're most
likely connected with yourcreativity.
So, yeah, so that's what we'regoing to be chatting about today
.
So invitation, as I'm taking adeep breath, for you to pause
(03:14):
and take a deep breath as well.
I feel like just been runningaround, hopped up, I just did
like, ironically enough, I justlike danced around my room for a
little bit.
So I'm kind of like taking adeep breath.
So invitation for you to pause, take a deep breath, wonderful,
(03:36):
okay.
So the name of today's podcastepisode is From Stuck to Seen,
from stuck to seen owning yourexpression.
And oftentimes, when we arefeeling stuck, we get stuck in
the first place because, generally speaking, expression
feels really vulnerable and forsome of us, it hasn't always
(03:59):
been or felt safe to be seen orbe heard, and so, when it comes
to expressing ourselves, it canfeel like an edge.
And also invitation to consideryour personal experience,
whether that's culturally or inyour family or, you know, even
(04:19):
generationally how did womenexpress themselves in your life
experience and how is itpresented to you for women to
express themselves?
I think that that's just kindof like a general lens that you
can always look through tounderstand yourself deeper.
Yeah, so there's a fewdifferent.
(04:40):
So there's a few differentblocks that I think come up when
it comes to expressing yourself, and we can definitely make
shifts in this area too.
We can shift from these sticky, blocky areas into spaces that
(05:00):
are full of flow and expressionand joy and play.
And so the first block isperfectionism, and it's
something that I've talked abouton the podcast quite a bit and
a little bit on Instagram overthe years, but I definitely have
a personal story withperfectionism.
I was raised as an athlete, which is basically, the more
perfect you are, the better yourperformance, and the better
(05:24):
your performance, the more youwin, and the more you win, the
more you get acknowledged andreceive love, and so
perfectionism is definitely likea core wound of mine and
disclaimer there, too.
Anytime I share somethingvulnerable like this, I try and
come from like an integratedplace.
So I've done a lot, a lot, alot of work and all these fun
(05:47):
things around perfectionism, andthat is why I think that it's
something you can absolutelymove through.
If it's something that youexperience, there is definitely
a place in a world where itdoesn't.
You know, it's not your driver,um, and that is exactly where I
come from.
So, after doing a lot of work,so, but it doesn't always have
(06:08):
to be a lot.
So don't you know?
My life experience is mine, butyours can be, you know, yours
can be yours.
So one great way to move throughperfectionism in terms of like
modalities is definitely innerchild healing and parts work.
Those are the two things that Ithink make the greatest impact.
It allows you to get to theroot of you know where your
(06:30):
perfectionism stems from.
It allows you to meet thosecore needs and then, on the
other side of that, is when youcan really like let things be
messy and let them be fun andlet them be playful, because
it's no longer about you knowwhat you're receiving.
It's no longer about you knowwhat you're receiving.
It's no longer about how itlooks.
It's really about yourexpression.
So if that is something thatyou relate to, definitely look
(06:57):
into those areas Inner childhealing, parts work.
You can also send me a DM.
I do have like inner childpractices that I could just send
you.
So if that interests you, justyou know, hit me up.
And then the second block that Ithink is important to me is
around creativity in general.
So sometimes you feel connectedto your creativity and other
(07:20):
times you feel disconnected fromyour creativity, disconnected
from your flow, your uniqueblueprint, your personal energy,
and I think naming this isreally important, because when
you get connected to your ownenergy, you can then let it be
expressed.
You're no longer, you know, trying to replicate maybe
(07:41):
something else that you've seenor trying to keep yourself safe,
because you're so connected toyour channel, to your alignment,
to your personal version ofexpression.
And so, in this area too, thereare many, many, many different
things you can do to connectwith your unique energy, your
(08:04):
flow, your channel, and a few ofthem that I personally love.
Breathwork will absolutely letyou quiet the mind, let you open
the heart, open the body, release and make space for
things to flow and come throughMovement.
So that's what I just did.
I just like danced around myroom, I shook off a bunch of
(08:25):
stuff that was feeling sticky, and I also just had a lot, a lot
of fun, which is always great.
Writing this is something thatyou can do in a bunch of
different ways, but journalingis the first thing that comes to
mind.
But you can also you knowthere's so many resources out
there for writing specificallythat will allow you to express
(08:47):
through pen to paper, whereyou're not necessarily trying to
sound a certain way or letthings come out a certain way,
you're just like writing towrite and writing to express,
and that can be really powerfulfor creativity, creating art.
Just the other day I went to awhat was it called?
(09:09):
Oh, my goodness, it was calledWheel Wednesday and it was at
this pottery studio where weused the wheel to make these
like ceramic pots.
So I made a small.
I think I made a bowl, I don'tremember now.
Oh no, I made a cup.
I made a cup for my morningcacao and I also made kind of
(09:30):
like a little.
It's like a dish that you couldput sauce in and then pour it
out.
So I don't know what like asauce pour, I guess, and totally
went on a whim.
I had seen it for a while.
I thought it was cool and thenit just kind of worked out that
I was able to go and, long storyshort, I ended up going but
(09:51):
being able to just kind of playand be making any form of art.
This is just an example.
But you're playing with likethe mud and I'm making these
little things and I have no ideawhat I'm doing.
But it's just like an outletfor you to be creative without
any rules and have fun.
And yeah, and when you areconnected to your creativity, if
(10:15):
you are a business owner or ifyou are, even if you just have
like a creative outlet, likepassion project, like there's
someone that I follow onInstagram that is all about um
books.
She's I guess it's likeconsidered like book talk, but
it's on Instagram, so I don'tknow what it would be called,
but uh, um, and that's just herlike creative outlet and it's
(10:36):
awesome.
And so this is a way that sheexpresses her creativity and she
puts it out there into theworld.
So you could do that throughInstagram, you could do that
through TikTok, you could dothat through podcasting, you
could have an online blog, a substack.
It doesn't really like thecontext of it doesn't really
matter, but it's just aninvitation that sometimes, when
we have a place to put ourcreativity and we have an outlet
(10:59):
for it, it gives it space togrow and expand and take on a
life of its own, which is reallyfun.
And then when it comes to owningyour expression, so owning your
self-expression, releasing thefear of being seen, I absolutely
get this.
I definitely have hadexperiences with this, even this
(11:22):
past weekend when I was on thisenergetics retreat that I went
on, which I'm still integratingfrom, so I don't have too much
to share about it yet or I don'tknow if I will do an episode on
it, but it was really reallycool.
Even that weekend or that week, this past week, fear of being
seen was coming up for me.
I was totally out of my comfortzone with so many different
(11:42):
exercises that they had us doinglike drama therapy basically,
and dance and all of these likereally big, like movement
practices Totally outside of mycomfort zone.
So I got this one fear of beingseen Um, totally outside of my
comfort zone.
(12:02):
So I got this one fear beingseen.
And there's a few things that Ithink are really supportive for
being in this, being in thisspace.
So definitely same as before, with the creativity,
reconnecting with your personalpower, with your personal voice,
and understanding what's comingup for you, specifically when
it comes to being seen, andunderstanding what's coming up
for you specifically when itcomes to being seen.
So this is where that innerchild healing and parts work
(12:22):
comes into play.
Those are awesome modalitiesfor really getting to the root
of any kind of like, fear orblock, because it's gonna be
different for everybody and, like, my unique experience with
being seen is going to bedifferent than somebody else's,
because that's how life works.
So, doing parts work, innerchild healing and same thing you
(12:43):
can always DM me.
I can send you a practice on,like how to take a look at this
area if it's something that youwant to do.
Different practices in generalthat can be supportive in this
area is mirror work.
That's a hard word to say, mirror work and that's something
you can definitely, you know, look up online, but it's
(13:05):
basically sitting with yourselfand seeing yourself from a
mirror and being able to sitwith everything that that brings
up and that can bring up a lotof stuff.
So, if you, you know you mightneed like, support with, like a
deeper practice when it comes tomirror work.
So definitely be mindful ofthat.
And dance and movement.
So that's something that I'vetalked about a little bit so far
(13:28):
, but super, super fun and oneof the biggest takeaways that I
will be taking from this pastweek on the trip that I was just
on, is definitely dance andmovement.
It's something that I had somuch fun with I'm so excited to
see where it takes me butdefinitely really, really
(13:49):
helpful and supportive for beingseen and expressing yourself.
And yeah, this is kind of likewhere I'm at right now, too, so
we can walk along this pathtogether.
I'm starting to move into thisin terms of like movement and as
a form of expression and danceas a form of expression and
moving away from how I thinkthings are quote, unquote, like
(14:11):
supposed to be, Um, yeah, so wecan go on that journey together.
So, yeah, invitation to reflectand think what would it feel
like in your body to be fullyexpressed?
What would you create from thatspace of expression, of
(14:36):
vulnerable creativity, ofopenness and flow?
What would come through for you, what wants to be expressed?
And second question what's onesmall way that maybe you can
express yourself today?
So that can look like anything.
It can look like having aconversation.
(14:58):
It can look like puttingyourself out there.
If you're an entrepreneur or abusiness owner, or if you have
anything that you're working on.
It can look like having avulnerable conversation at work.
Maybe there's something thathas been coming up for you at
work that needs to be expressed,so allowing yourself the
freedom to go there and seewhat's on the other side of it
(15:21):
for you.
And that is what I have for youfor today's episode.
So, quick recap if you want toreceive the monthly newsletter
it goes out on April 1st you cansign up to receive it.
In the show notes, we talkedabout moving from feeling stuck
to feeling seen and owning yourself-expression.
We talked about some of theblocks that might come up if
(15:42):
this is something that you doexperience, and we talked about
what it would feel like to be inyour body and feeling fully
expressed and what you wouldcreate from that place.
So, and one thing that I wantedto share with you I realized I
have it at the bottom of mynotes here, so I'm just going to
throw this in at the end isthat one thing that I've been
(16:05):
doing, that I've been absolutelyloving and this is in the
monthly newsletter for the monthof March.
I think it's the mantra for themonth of March actually is uh,
I am, is the mantra is I am acreative and I love that.
I think that that affirmation isso fun.
It releases the need to beperfect, it allows you to show
(16:26):
up in your creative flow andit's really fun.
So it's like if you were towake up in the morning and you
were to say to yourself like Iam a creative, like what would
that version of you, how wouldshe get dressed?
How would she show up in theworld?
Like?
It's such, like a liberatingthing.
I don't know, so wanted toshare that with you.
(16:46):
Take it as a tool in thetoolkit, try it on for size, let
me know how it goes.
Send me a DM, let me know.
And yeah, that's the last thingI had for you today.
So thank you so much for tuningin for today's episode.
