What happens when a scientist begins receiving messages from the other side? In this powerful episode of the Spiritual Spotlight Series, Peaceful Nik shares her remarkable journey from battling panic attacks about death to finding peace and certainty through mediumship.

With over 20 years in science communication, Nik brings a rare blend of logic and spirituality to her work as a medium. Her readings stand out for their verifiable evidence—stories like a tornado rescue decades earlier that she could never have known—bringing comfort and healing to grieving families.

Nik opens up about how her fear of death dissolved after thousands of undeniable connections with spirit, and how she now envisions the afterlife as a vibrant, energetic dimension where souls reconnect and communicate telepathically.

Beyond readings, she mentors new mediums—especially those overcoming religious fear—and offers accessible resources like her $27 workbook to make spiritual development available to everyone.

You’ll also hear her practical advice for awakening your own intuitive gifts, including how everyday mindfulness can unlock deeper connection to spirit.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello everyone, Welcome to our Spiritual
Spotlight Series.
Today I'm joined by PeacefulNick.
She's an evidential medium whospecializes in healing messages
and guidance.
Thank you so much for coming onthe Spiritual Spotlight Series.
I'm really happy you're here,Thank you for having me, Rachel.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
I'm glad we finally got to meet.
We've had some schedule changes, but I'm thrilled to be here.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Super, super excited myself.
So, nick, can you maybe shareyour story of how you first
discovered your gift as a mediumand what led you to embrace it
as your life's path?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Okay, so I grew up on the scientific track.
I come from a family that hadsome issues and my mother was a
little woo-woo but she passed in1986.
So I lost that connection tothe woo woo when she passed and
you know she read UFO books andalien books and things like that

(00:53):
and so I knew about all thatstuff.
But I was very adept at mathand science in school and so
that's the track I followed andfor 20 years I worked in science
, communication and education, which I still do part time.
And about six years ago or so Iwas got a phone call from a

(01:15):
sister of mine I have a lot ofsisters and she said our
friend's son died.
Brandon was his name and it wassudden and he was 25.
And I had met him one time as anewborn baby and then I moved
across the country and so youknow I didn't have any contact
with him but in my head I knewClaire cognizantly that he

(01:37):
passed from an overdose.
I did not know what Clairecognizance was and for anybody
listening that doesn't know, that's a clear knowing where you
know something in your.
Anybody listening that doesn'tknow, that's a clear knowing
where you know something in yourhead and you don't know why,
you know.
And I just kind of like, okay, that happens to me all the time,
you know no big deal, I alwaysknow stuff.
It doesn't everybody know stufflike deal to me.

(01:59):
And then later that day I laiddown to take a nap and within a
few seconds I could see in mymind's eye him full color, hear
him talking to me, leaning in,just his head, his red sweater,
his gold chain, his black hair, his full face.
And he leaned in and he saidtell my mom, I'm sorry, I didn't

(02:20):
mean to do it, just clear as avideo.
And I was shocked that nothinglike that had ever happened to
me before.
I had other little weirdexperiences through my life, but
nothing to that magnitude.
And I sat up.
I'm like I called my sister, Igo, oh my God.
Brandon came to me in a visionand he said Tell my mom, I'm

(02:43):
sorry, I didn't mean to do it.
And of course over the next fewdays we found out he did pass
from an overdose and I havesince, you know, been trained
and given his mother readingsand that was my first real,
solid, verifiable experience.
And I just kind of blew it offbecause, you know, weird stuff

(03:04):
happens, experience and I justkind of blew it off Because, you
know, weird stuff happens.
A few months later, mydaughter-in-law's grandmother
was in hospice care at home.
She had had a head injury andwas transitioning and my son was
my son and daughter-in-law werethere with her at the moment of
her transition and that day Ikept seeing this red heart with
her name on it, just emblazonedin my mind's eye so strongly and

(03:29):
so constantly.
I couldn't it's going to makeme cry because I loved this
woman and I couldn't get it outof my head and I texted my son.
I said hey, dottie was her name.
She keeps showing me this redheart and I cannot get it to
stop.
I don't know what to do.
And I'm standing in my kitchen.

(03:49):
He texts me back a picture ofthe red heart with her name on
it.
And it's actually in the otherroom I have it now A key chain
he picked up that was on hernightstand or in the drawer of
her nightstand or something, right at the moment of her
passing.
And so my knees buckled and Ialmost passed out, right,

(04:15):
because I thought I either needa CAT scan or something crazy is
happening.
And so I thought I'm ascientist, I will perform an
experience, an experiment onmyself, because if this is real,
it should be verifiable throughrepeated attempts.
Right, verifiable evidence.

(04:37):
You know you had to go throughall the scientific method in
your nursing, and so I found amentor in the UK.
You know, you go to the internet, you look, you look, you scour
the internet, and this lady justreally resonated with me.
She was super real, she wassuper matter of fact.
She gave a lot of importantinformation in a very short

(05:00):
period of time, because I wasworking full time and I didn't
have time for an hour longlecture where you learn one
thing Like she gave 200 piecesof information in 10 minutes.
Wow, this one's for me.
I want to learn quickly.
So I signed up for her class andthen I doubled up on the next
class and I took.
I can't even tell you how manyclasses I took with her.

(05:22):
And then she said you're readyto give paid readings?
And I said, really, really, soI had a good friend who has a
very large family and friendgroup and she hooked me up with
about 50 people over the periodof two months to give free

(05:44):
practice readings to, and I I'mforever grateful to her for them
, because without all of thosepeople giving them these
practice readings, I don't knowif I would have had the courage
to start doing paid readings.
Yeah, so then I started doingpaid readings and and I can't

(06:05):
tell you how nervous I was thatfirst time, because you, you
know, you know you have it, butyou're like, but somebody's
giving me money for it, and nowI feel weird.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Yeah, it's a little bit of a different when you're
doing an energetic exchange ofmoney and when somebody is in a
vulnerable state and looking forthis guidance.
So I think it's amazing thatyou did so many practice
readings, just because a lot ofpeople I don't know if a lot of
people actually do that and Ithink I commend you for doing
that and honing your craft andyour gift and that's amazing.

(06:36):
So you kind of just broughtthis up.
You studied and I'm if Imispronounced it, I apologize at
the odd bod school ofmediumship in the UK.
What was that experience likeand how did it shape your
approach to evidentialmediumship?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
So I did not travel to the UK for this, but it's
based in the UK.
It was all online, which mostthings are now right, lucky for
us.
It's so good for so manyreasons and my mentor was
excellent.
She was very clear, she was.
She held our feet to the firewithin Now remind Remember I

(07:13):
knew nothing about mediumshipreally.
So my first, very first class, within five minutes she said
make a connection to spirit andgive a reading.
And I had no idea what to do.
Make a connection to spirit andgive a reading.
And I had no idea what to do.
And I remember.
I saw a little girl with blondehair and a yellow ribbon and I
don't remember if it belonged toanybody.
I don't remember the detailsnow, but I just remember she

(07:35):
really, you know, threw you inthe deep end and and it was good
for me.
I needed that and it was.
I learned so much, so fast andwe did a lot, you know.
As you know, in mediumshipclasses you do a lot of readings
with each other, and so groupsof us were in the same classes

(07:55):
over and over and we eventuallyall learned about everybody's
people, and that's why it was soimportant to do so many
readings for other strangers, that to really get prepared for
charging.
Yeah, absolutely, it waswonderful, I know.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
I think it's perfect and I like the fact that you're
like no, let's go.
Yep, exactly.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Let's go.
And so I model a lot of mymentorship programs after how
she taught, because it's soimpactful.
So when I'm teaching now, Imake my students by the second
class.
I don't throw them inimmediately in five minutes, but
they do have to make aconnection at some point during
the first class.
But by the second class they'redoing readings.

(08:37):
Yeah, Whether they like it ornot, because you can't learn if
you don't do Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Absolutely, absolutely.
When I went through my AkashicRecords training and then the
healing trainings, she made usdo a minimum amount of readings
before we would even beconsidered to be certified, and
then you had to submit evidenceof what we did.
And then she did a session andwitnessed us and everything
before she would sign off on us.
And I appreciate that, asession and witnessed us and

(09:05):
everything before she would signoff on us, and I appreciate
that because I mean, 50 sessionslater, you know, obviously in
same thing, free and whatnot,it's like then you had to trust
it.
You're like, okay, I'm justgoing to do it Exactly and it's.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
It can be nerve wracking.
I have a note on my desk.
I learned I was watching apodcast with um, I think, kim
Russo.
I think she said leave your egoat the door, because I used to
get a lot of anxiety before andshe said that anxiety is your
ego Right Really struck me and Ihave this little note.
It says leave your ego at thedoor, stop thinking, allow the

(09:36):
flow.
If you doubt, spirit sensesthat and so that's perfect.
You're the same.
We're always learning.
We don't finish classes andwe're the middle.
We always have to continue tolearn and get information, and
it's good to get informationfrom several sources, not just
one source, because, you know, not everybody's going to be

(09:57):
right all the time.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
So very true.
So very true.
So you describe yourself as anevidential medium.
For those who may be new tothat term, how does that differ
from other types of mediumship?

Speaker 2 (10:09):
So evidential medium really appealed to me because of
science, evidence-basedmediumship.
So in my readings and it'sprobably the same for all of
them, and this may be splittinghairs for different types of
mediumship, but I provideevidence that cannot.
It's something that's not goingto be on social media,

(10:32):
something that you know is notgoing to be in the newspaper or
an obituary, some detail that isnot obvious.
That is evidence that only thesitter or client and I and
spirit would know, and I onlyknow because spirit tells me or

(11:03):
shows me and so you know.
If there's, you know, 20 piecesof evidence, right, right, most
grandmas love their grandkidsand give them presents.
You know it's like shootingfish in a barrel.
The evidence has to besomething detailed and specific.
That is not obvious.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
I really I like evidential mediumship because
it's pulling the pieces togetherto really help validate that,
yes, you've connected to thisloved one in spirit and you're
bringing, like you said, almostlike scientific evidence, like
it's not just saying like Rachel, no, your grandma this, it's
like no, your grandma gave youthis quilt that has the pink and
the white and the squares, andyou know, I like that and and
and odd things.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
One one reading I was giving I kept seeing a tornado
and I'm like this is weird.
Why am I seeing a tornado?
Because you know, you have yourown inner dialogue.
And I said your husband isshowing me a tornado, do you
understand the significance of atornado?
And she said, like 20 years agohe rescued a bunch of people

(12:09):
from passing in a tornado.
Now that is, there's no way.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
There's no way you're going to know that.
You're never going to know that.
So I thought, you were goingdown the Wizard of Oz like track
.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
No, that would have been cool.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
I was like, wow, I didn't know the reason why.
I say that, it's because I justwent to visit my sister and her
and I bought my niece a littlepair of red shoes and I was like
I was like, oh, that's whereshe's going.
So random, so cool that he didthat.
Yeah, I love that.
It was awesome, that's so cool.

(12:46):
So what is your intention whendelivering messages from the
spirit world and how do youensure these messages bring
healing and clarity to yourclients?

Speaker 2 (12:51):
So you may have to repeat the second part.
My intention is always do noharm and help people start or
begin, or start or continuetheir healing journey.
It's, I guess, the Hippocraticoath is is you know?
You would know that better thanI would as a nurse.
I don't want to cause harm everand I don't.

(13:15):
I always want my clients tofeel better after bleeding, and
I don't.
I don't have a situation wheresomeone felt worse.
But some people are in deepgrief and, as, as a healer, you
don't know what, what stage ofgrief people are in when they
sign up.
Absolutely Anybody could showup somebody who's happy,

(13:36):
somebody who's crying.
You don't know what's going tohappen when that screen opens,
and so it's very, it'simperative that if somebody's in
deep grief, to always recommendgrief counseling, therapy,
something else, because I'm nota therapist, right, and I am.
I'm, you know, very good atgiving people advice and

(14:00):
guidance, but there is a pointwhere someone is in deep grief
that they may need other help.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
I think, though, for those of us that are in this
spiritual realm, like going to amedium and connecting to
someone like yourself andbringing about, like you know, a
healing, a reading from thatloved one that they lost, I do
think that there is a space formediumship in that healing
journey.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
One million percent, absolutely, and it is, and I was
, you know, that's just mydisclaimer.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Oh, I 100% agree with you yeah like hospice does free
grief counseling.
Like, yes, 100% agree with you,but I just I'm giving I guess I
was just giving space to thefact that, like I know that one
of my really close loved onespassed and I'm like, yeah, I
should get a mediumship.
Reading Like that will help mewith that grieving process
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Because it's good for the living person, for their
own connection with their ownmortality.
I think the big part of itbecause I think we fear our own
mortality.
I think we fear what if?
What if there is nothing?
That was my big fear my wholelife.

(15:13):
Until I became a medium Iwasn't scared of physical death.
I was scared what if nothinghappens after I die?
Like I had panic attacks foryears.
I mean, wake up in the middleof the night yelling panic
attacks, like grabbing myhusband's leg and screaming at
two in the morning and that'snot good right.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
No, it's not good, but it's interesting that that's
what kind of that was like onepiece in your journey.
And then let's ask you thisthen so what is your perspective
now on the afterlife?

Speaker 2 (15:45):
So now, I don't have those panic attacks anymore,
which I didn't even realize.
They stopped when I became amedium, when I started my
mediumship training, theystopped.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
It's incredible.
And now, because of the tens ofthousands of pieces of evidence
over the past six years, youknow I can't.
There's no count really.
I know now that the spiritworld is where all of our souls,
consciousness, spirit, howeverwe want to define it, kind of

(16:19):
plugs back into the collectiveconsciousness and is there an
association with our soulfamilies, our soul groups and
basically it's an orb of energy.
Our soul is like an orb ofenergy and we can telepathically
communicate and manifestwhatever we want.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
I love that.
I love that.
So have there been momentswhere a reading deeply surprised
you or moved you to somethingthat maybe changed your own
perspective about your own life,or even the afterlife?

Speaker 2 (16:53):
well, all of them collectively have changed my
perspective of the afterlife.
I grew up Catholic.
Do you have the Catholic guiltI did for a very, very, very
long time I do Because of thesereadings.
It solidified my belief thatthere's no hell, there's no evil

(17:15):
spirits.
There's when, when souls orspirits are coming into our
physical space and flickering alight or knocking over kids toys
not there to harm, they'rethere to just get our attention
and say hey, I'm here, I'm justtrying to communicate with you.

(17:36):
And so my perspective on theafterlife it's so solid now when
before it was very weak, wasvery, and science of course
allows for weakness and beliefin the afterlife, right.
Science of course allows forweakness and belief in the
afterlife, right?
Yeah, but one of the biggestthings now for me is I use my

(17:58):
scientific background.
I read a lot of quantum physicsand quantum mechanics.
One of the biggest things thatI've been trying to do is say
science proves mediumship isreal.
So I have series on my socialmedia about that and I talk
about it all the time and Idon't know that.
Physicists know they're provingthat we have a soul that is

(18:20):
made of energy.
But they are proving thatwhether we know it or not, and
so that's a big shift for me inmy belief systems overall.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
I love that.
I love that so much so youoffer a wide range of services,
from one-on-one readings toworkshops and mentorships.
Yes, which do you feel is maybeone of your ways to connect?
Like which one?
I guess they probably all giveyou excitement and joy, but is
there one that gives you morejoy than the others?
And I guess they probably allgive you excitement and joy, but
is there one that gives youmore joy?

Speaker 2 (18:55):
than the others.
Wow, I would say it's a tiebetween my mentorships.
I love seeing a student.
I have a student right now whoknew nothing about mediumship at
all and she got a one-on-onereading with me and she said at
the end she said can I ask yousome questions?
And she asked me a series ofquestions about events that have

(19:16):
happened in her life.
She sees spirits, sheexperiences voices and so much
about information.
In that small conversation Isaid do you know?
You're probably a medium.
And she grew up with religiousdogma very, very strict

(19:37):
evangelical religious dogma andso she was scared to explore it.
And I said listen, you know, meet with me next week and we'll
have a longer conversation.
And then she booked aone-on-one class, because I
offer one-on-one and mentorshipswith groups, small groups.

(19:58):
And she had a one-on-one and Isaid you are more than welcome.
I just had a class start.
You're more than welcome tojoin that class.
And the class I have right nowit's wrapping up the first six
months of it, but they're likeon high speed, like they're all
like advanced beginners.
And she went from knowingnothing about mediumship to by

(20:19):
her second class doing readingswith strangers.
I invited in because you know, yeah, you got to throw them out
there and I mean, I knew thepeople, they didn't.
And so she gives theseincredible readings and she's
been doing this for four monthsof her life and that was

(20:41):
profound and that is beautiful, because when I was in
traditional science education, those days are gone where a
teacher or professor gets thisoh wow, these kids really get it
.
Those days are very limited.
Now.
Technology education know 150is incredible that how fast they

(21:19):
grow, change, connect and theirawareness of spirit and how it
changes their perspective onother humans and life.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
I love it.
I love that.
And the readings the one-on-onereadings, when you have
somebody who's deeply grievingand you give them a bunch of
evidence that proves their lovedone in spirit is still there.
I had a mother who lost a son,and the mother just passed
recently.
So say a moment for Lori.

(21:53):
And she, her son, kept showingme a wallet and he was smelling
the wallet and it had dollarbills and a little silver metal
thing in it, not a coin, but ametal thing with a circle on it.
And she said now, these arethings.
There's no way I could know.
Yeah, of course she had nosense of smell.
So her son smelled everythingfor her.

(22:16):
She still had his wallet.
She sent me a picture of it,with his dollar bills in it and
a little metal tool of some sortwith a circle on it.
Wow, there's no way you know.
So those are things.
And she was so relieved to knowher son's soul still exists and

(22:41):
can communicate that and say, mom, I'm safe.
Yeah, that was in mediumship.
Those are some of my favoritethings.
I love that.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
So your offerings are very accessible in terms of
price and structure.
How important is it to makespiritual tools and readings
available to everyone?

Speaker 2 (23:02):
I.
It is extremely importantbecause I grew up as a child in
a low socioeconomic status andwe struggled for regular things,
things, necessities, and to me,I don't need to charge 700 or
$1,000 for reading to makemyself feel better.

(23:23):
I'm fancier if I charge more.
I want healing to occur for asmany people as possible and
there are a lot of peoplestruggling right now, more than
ever.
Right, and it's important thatI offer my services at a lower
price in order to help as manypeople heal as possible.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
That's commendable.
I love that.
I think it's so amazing.
I was like, oh, her rates arereally good, really amazing
rates.
Um, can you maybe share a storyabout a client transformation
that reminded you of why thiswork is so sacred and needed?

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Oh, boy, that.
Let me see, I would say thestudent I was referring to
earlier, who was gripped in fearand getting a lot of pushback
from her family and telling hershe was weird.
You're a weirdo because you seethese things or feel these

(24:24):
things and you shouldn't talkabout that and you shouldn't,
you shouldn't, shouldn't talkabout that.
It's not in the the.
The Bible said that.
That, that, that, that, yeah,You're talking to demons.
Those are demons, you know.
And she, when I see her inclass now she is, her energy is

(24:45):
so much brighter and higher andshe's so happy.
Then, when I first met her, shewas drugged down.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Because she was having all these experiences and
didn't know what to do withthem.
And now she's like, especiallybecause she's in a group with
other students all have the sameexperiences and it's almost
like group therapy, Right.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Right Each other.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Yeah, oh, you see dead people too.
Oh, okay, so it's not just me.
And then you connect them withother mediums and training and
other developed mediums, um, andand those are the things that
are so impactful to me Like youchanged from this person who was

(25:28):
scared and sad and upset tothis person who's relieved and
happy and joyful.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
I love that you have a new show that is coming out
with one of your BFFs.
Can you please tell us a littlebit about it?

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Yes, thank you for asking.
I have a new podcast beingreleased May 23rd on Spotify and
all other platforms podcastbeing released May 23rd on
Spotify and all other platforms.
It is called the soul twinstars podcast with myself,
peaceful Nick the medium andlady shadow.
She's a white witch and I'm amedium and a scientist, and our
first episode is our originstory and how to change your

(26:06):
life in one second through math, and it gives details of how to
manifest them.
You know, set your intention,do the work and allow yourself
to receive.
That's the shorthand version ofthat we're very excited about
it.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Yeah, I like the idea of blending mediumship with the
white witch way.
I think that's that's going tobe a really amazing, interesting
show to tune into.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Yeah, and it's not so polished because you know it's
a podcast, so there will be somesensitive subjects.
We're going to talk aboutfemale body things.
You know pause, changes in malebody things, changes in the
male body Everything fromawakening to Zen will be
discussed on the podcast and wewill have guests as well.

That's awesome.
That's gonna be really cool.
I really like that.
It's gonna be fun.
I'm excited.
Before I ask you the lastquestion where is the best place

Meditate.

Everybody can meditate.
I'm going to tell you a secretabout meditating my friend who
gave me all the 50 people to dothe practice.
She was trained at the ChopraCenter and she's a Reiki master
and all of those things.
How I didn't become a mediumyears ago with all these friends
in the woo-woo, I have no idea.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Yes, I know.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
And she taught me that meditation isn't about
sitting in a perfect Zenposition and clearing your mind
perfectly, because that's toostressful.
Yeah, you can't meditate I'm aterrible meditator but you can
be in the present moment.
When you're washing the dish, you're thinking about washing
the dish.
Folding the towel you'rethinking about folding the towel

(29:18):
.
Yeah, in the shower, you'rethinking about putting the soap
on your hair.
When you're walking the dog, you're thinking about the grass
along the sidewalk.
Being in the present momentyeah, the grass along the
sidewalk, being in the presentmoment is a form of meditation,
and you don't have to perfectlyclear your mind.
So when you're doing any dailytask, it doesn't matter what it

(29:39):
is, focus on that task.
I'm writing a note with a penRight, and so the purpose of
meditation is to stop thehamster wheel of thoughts.
Yes, and you have that hamsterwheel of thoughts you can't
create, and I think maybe that'swhy it was in my late 40s,

(30:00):
before I became a medium, because my kids were very busy.
Yes, my husband's a coach, Iwas running around working.
Yes, my husband's a coach, Iwas running around working, blah
, blah, blah.
But then when they were grown, that's when it hit me, so I
wasn't having to take my kidsanywhere Well for them anymore,

(30:20):
mostly.
So yeah, meditation just slowdown the train of thought.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Love that, love that Well.
Thank you Peaceful, nick themedium.
It's truly been amazing toconnect with you today.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
