Dick I come back and everybody else leaves.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Interesting how that worked out. So you were in South Carolina.
Speaker 6 (01:14):
I was in South Carolina. South Carolina was in Pauli's Island.
Mike Kern will be happy. I got to play True Blue. Hey,
send him a picture, so you.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Switch spots with Mike Karn. Mike, are you in South
Carolina as we speak?
Speaker 2 (01:27):
I am in Myrtle Beach at my friend's house. I
will be going to my other friends timeshare tomorrow. I'm
playing golf after the show. I gotta tell Kyle, do
you guys, Kyle, do you guys drive down in one
shot or do you stop somewhere?
Speaker 6 (01:44):
We drive down in one day. I mean we stopped
to go to the bathroom and eat.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
But what I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Saying is I drive down, I do all the driving,
and we go to my daughter's house in near Baltimore,
and then we sleep for like fire and we drop.
But I mean it's a the older I get it.
It's harder to do the drive.
Speaker 6 (02:03):
It's just like, yeah, we did it in one one
full uh twelve hours getting down there.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
First where in South Carolina north right right, where.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
In North Carolina meets South Carolina. That's Myrtle Beach because
if you go, departs of Myrtle Beach are actually in
North Carolina, sort of like when you come down. But
Kyle was at the southern end. He was he was
about probably an hour south of where I'm going to
be studied because it's a it's kind of a big area,
and it takes me from Baltimore. Dick. Now, look, I
(02:39):
drive fast and I hit very little traffic, which is
why I leave at three in the morning. It takes me.
She threed it, and we stopped the waffle house. Uh three,
I'm gonna say about eight hours with stop from south
to south of Baltimore because once you when you're on
(02:59):
the road. So I didn't hit a stop late from
the time we left Baltimore, so I was in Myrtle Beach.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
By the way, you need to figure out how to
pronounce ballmer.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Oh yeah, yeah, I know.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Carson and uh wait, we put water in Zinx and
we see far engines running down the streets.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
So let's get real now we do this.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
By the way, it took my parents fourteen hours to
get home. Uh fourteen hours. Yeah, the traffic between DC
and Baltimore was.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
You you can hit like when we go home. If
we're either coming home Friday or Saturdays. I may actually
be in the studios. We're not sure yet what we're doing,
but you can hit traffic like nobody's business around. There's
a place right north of Richmond.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
I know it, well, yeah, I know it well yeah,
b And.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Then when you get up last year we were calling home.
I'll never forget. So we're approaching Washington.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Draw Capital, Billy forget it.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
And but this is where in North Sandic it backed
up for like four or five miles. Right then we
get there, it's two lanes there. It's like, why is
it back up?
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Changes one of the mysteries of life. Yeah yeah, let
me give out a little promo and then we'll get
into some stuff. Today college football Week one. We have
not one, not two, but three top ten games, one
at noon today, one tonight, one Tomorrow night, Number one
Texas at Ohio State at noon on Fox Clemson ost LSU.
(04:34):
It's a number six against number nine. That's tonight, and
then tomorrow Notre Dame three versus whatever Miami is these
days just a phenomenal start pro football regular season almost here.
Birds are back touchdown favorite. Actually now seven point five.
Apparently Michael Carson's is worth a half a point. Hosting
(04:54):
Dallas and the Thursday night opener on September fourth. We're
five days away from that over under is now forty seven.

PA New Jersey, Maryland, Michigan gambling problem of course called
one eight hundred Gambler. A couple of tributes to start
the show today, Mike, I know you would have been
there with me if you weren't on the road, But
I went out to Villanova. Last night Kyle to the
church right there on Lancaster Avenue. It was the wake
(06:01):
for Jim Murray. And anybody in Philadelphia knows Jim Murray.
He was the sid at Bonova when they played UCLA
for the national championship in nineteen seventy one. Then he
went on to be the pr man from the Eagles
and morphed into the general manager. And he's the guy
who hired Dick for Meal, who got the Eagles in
the Super Bowl, and just one of the nicest men
(06:21):
in the history of the world. Founded the Ronald McDonald House.
And Mike knew Jimmy very very well. Mike, I got
there it was six to nine. I said, you know,
I'll get there early and I'll beat the crowd. Wrong.
I got there at five point thirty. There was always
already honored people in low.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
It was wild.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
And at Jim's funerals today at eleven, I know you
were very foundly with Jim.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
Your thoughts on Jim Murray.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Well, yeah, and a lot of people know him in
a different way. Obviously from the year I was in
this about Jim and Dick, you probably concur if anybody
can talk to God it was Jim Murray, like he
was that kind of person. I think he could call
God up and say, hey guy. You know. He was
just that tremendous of a person, optimistic, always looking at
(07:07):
the bright side of things. And he was there's now,
I believe, three hundred and ninety Ronald McDonald houses in
the world. He started the first one in western Philadelphia.
And anybody that knows what the Ronald McDonald houses do,
it's a little bit like Saint Jude and Memphis, you know,
the Danny Thomas to hospitals and stuff.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Were basically families of families of kids that are hospitalized
have a place to stay for free.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Yes, and they and people to have I think it's
mostly Lukemi, but I guess it could be anything. And
I remember I was out in bois once covering a
temple you know, playoff game and you know, and there
was a Ronald McDonald house. I'm driving down the thing.
I passed her. And I got to know Jim Moore
through the McDonald's LPGA tournament, you know, than the Eagles.
(07:53):
But he was just I mean, was there any body
didn't like Jim Murray?
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Not in part real?
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Yeah, And when you're saying the line last night, And
it took about forty five minutes, Kyle to get from
where I first walked in to get up to see
Jim's family. There were all these pictures of him. There's
a picture of with President Ray. There's a picture of
him with the first President Bush. There's a picture of
him in a green hat and a green outfit.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Leading the Saint Patrick's state parade.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
I mean, he was everywhere, and I spent many days
with him and my buddy Steve Ross, who I know.
You know that's numerous racetracks around the area. Jimmy loved
the track and I loved hanging with him at the track.
But again, you save me today at eleven o'clock, Guy, Mike, you.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Know a story about his son, right when the pope
came in seventy nine. His one son was just like
a baby, a newborn kind of. He held him up
to the Pope, and the Pope apparently either it touched him,
did whatever, and they called him John. And that's how
he became John Paul, or or maybe he'd already named
him John Paul at that point. But his one son
(08:54):
is named it for the pope, of course, yeah, yeah,
I mean, yeah, of course, of course there's a.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Lot a legendary filling up is I put Jim Murray
right up there with Ben Franklin. I mean, he was
that kind of a guy and literally everybody loved him.
Impossible not to love him, and he'll be missed. But
if you're talking about a guy who had a great life,
there is a man that had a great life, no question.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Yeah, hen't even going for we know we know, yeah,
we know his sons. I mean I got to know
his one son a lot yep out of Villanova, good people,
and we know his God's son, Robbie elis.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
So young. Yeah, it's just so.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Yeah. Look he lived to be eighty seven, right, I mean,
and for the most part of I think it was
a pretty good life and he just wanted to kind
of celebrate it. But Dick, we're losing too many of
these people. You know.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
The problem. We're all getting older, and if we're getting older, that.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Means people that are older than us are getting That's
that's the issent we're dealing with. And speaking of all
guys who thankfully is still very much alive, it's about
to celebrate his ninetieth birthday. Lee Corso is doing his
final Game Day appearance. It just started on the ESPN.
And talk about a beloved person in sports. I mean
(10:10):
Lee Corso was a player at Florida State, played.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
With Burt Reynolds.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
They were on the same team at Florida State, and
was a coach a longtime assistant.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
He was assistant at Navy, at Maryland.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
He was a head coach at Louisville and Indiana and
then got end up broadcasting with with the ESPN and
Game Day. And he said to people at the time,
I want to be the Dick fight tale of football.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Well was he ever? Uh?
Speaker 2 (10:35):
And another person I think big one.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
I to me he impossible not to love Lee Corso
And it'll be his final show today at the Horseshoe
at Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Than I do and Rhees Davis and the crew. It'll
be fine.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Who's he going to pick today?
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Yeah? I mean, well, this is a wild story.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Ohio State has been favored in this game all summer
until the other day.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Texas is now favored.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
All the money is coming in on Texas there minus
one at bet Parks. I mean, money has been flying
it on our spanning and the Longhorns this week. They
are now a road favorite. They are the number one
team in the country. But yeah, so Lee Corso final
headgear pick, I only talked to the league one time.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Kyle, you love this story.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
So Penn State's great ninety fourteen I was covered to
average forty seven points a game in here where nobody scored.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
And at one point our sports hitter Micro Rafits.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Says, get Lee Corso on the phone, ask him what
he thinks about this Penn State team.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
So I did, and I got him. And what I remember,
Mike is he said to me.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
He says, look, it's like everything Penn State has ever
done with speed. I said, that explains It's like, you know,
instead of having eight yard runs, they're having eighty yard runs.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Yeah, and just that fansty But beyond the comedy and
the fun and all that, he had brilliant football mind. Mike.
I know you loved your thoughts on lead Courso.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
No, like I said, we got to know Dick vikel
obviously through the basketball, and Thick was great. But Lee
comes at it a little differently.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
You know, Lee isn't just said hey to do gis well?
Now I think a he had fun with it, and
I think that came across to the viewers that he
was having fun with it, and look, puts the hat on.
Sometimes he's gonna be wrong. He's gonna take crap for it,
you know. And but he did it, and that show
(12:38):
became one of the great shows I think on TV him,
Herb Street and Power. And I think the way he's
going out is a great way to go out. You know,
you're not gonna do the season, but I'm gonna do
this game one versus three. They can't get really any
better than this. And I'm telling you, man, I think
I thought all along, even when Texas was the underdogs,
(13:00):
I thought he was gonna put a long horn thing on.
I just I cannot see. And I know, look, I
know it's at the horse. I get all that. I
just think it's the revenge game for Texas. Texas is
really good. They never really had a great record against
good teams until last year's playoff run. I like the Longhorns,
but you know what stayed at home?
Speaker 3 (13:22):
Man, Kyle, you're a younger guy.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
You grew up with Game Day. I mean it's been
around as long as you have. Oh yeah, can it
possibly be the same without Lee horse Absolutely not elite
Corso is game Day. I mean, you have, you know,
the staples like Kirk kurb Street and all that, but
Leek Horso is the heart and soul of college game day.
And without him, it's gonna be uh big shoes to fill.
(13:49):
Not that it's possible to fill Lee Corso's shoes, but
to accommodate the loss of Leak Corso on college game
date's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
I heard it was my current, but that's that would
be the perfect that was going around.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
If they were smart, they were smart, they would not
replace him. Obviously, you're gonna have to put another face
in there somehow, So.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Don't try and fill his shoes. Let's just try to
try to look go do a change of pace.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Save it is their new big face, right.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Obviously he's one of the legends of the game, but
he's not giving you that. He's gonna talk football, yeah,
which is fine, which Courso could do certainly. And the
other thing that was cool about him is he came
back from a what what could have been a totally
disastrous stroke. You know, his career could have ended, and
he came back and you know and he wasn't quite
the same, but it was just cool to watch a
(14:42):
relationship between he and Kirk. Kark obviously took good care
of his buddy, but yeah, just a great show. Look,
Chris Valler was a great host, and Reese Davis, who
I know fairly well, also a really really good host.
And that's the key to those things too. You gotta
have somebody can get this thing flowing. I could frankly
do with that. Desmond Howard, he doesn't much for me. Yeah,
but you don't think that.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
You don't think Nick Saban's going to put like a
headdress on.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
I don't know. I do not.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
And whoever does replace Lee Corso if they try to
like mimic what the leak course, I'm out.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
I mean, it's going to be a failure. They're trying
to get the punter to do it right, But I
so Pat mcafeet out, I gain. Look, he's got no, no, yeah,
he's not.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Nobody's going to do leak Corso.
Speaker 7 (15:29):
And by the way, yeah, as in the side, because
you're talking about Saban, is he tremendous in those commercials
where you're coming, you're coming.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
To his house and it's it's five minutes. The three
don't take. I mean, whoever came up with that idea
to cast him as that that's that's wonderful and him.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
And Uh, it's just like and Dion together and those commercials.
It's the half halfway. So we're getting college football games
today already.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
Some upsets. South Florida wax Boise. The other night, Boise
was a touchdown favorite. Army last night loses to Tarleton State.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
I watched that game. I watched the end of.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
That FCS power all right, who knows where Tarleton State is?
Speaker 5 (16:22):
It's somewhere around Tarleton, correct.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
Mike, It's that's all I know.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
That is correct, Stephenville, Texas. It's about an hour and
a half southwest of Dallas. And I looked it up
this morning just because I know everybody'd be interested. I
believe a free agent wide receiver from Tarleton State has
made the Eagles, Darius Cooper.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Oh wow, he's like the fifth wide out. I believe
he's on the spot.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
No, they're FCS, but they got to be I think
there with South Dakota.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
Yeah, maybe they're in the Patriot League with Falla up.
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
That's yeah, I'll look it up in a second. But
so I looked up their famous alumps. Does anybody know
who Chris Kyle is?
Speaker 5 (17:13):
Yesh, yeah, he was the niper.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Well done, I'm idressed. George Kennedy, George.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
The Actor won an Academy Award.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Luke, Luke, I got, I gotta. I got a question
for you. How are you gonna get down that hill?
Speaker 5 (17:31):
Was that?
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Was that?
Speaker 3 (17:34):
I think of?
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Paul?
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Paul was in coy hed look obviously, but George, that
was a great movie.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
It was funny. Paul Newman did not win the Oscar
that year. It went to Rod Stagger for In the
Heat of the Night. I mean, look, and I'm not
saying Rod Stagger, but man, was there anything better than
cool hand?
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Luke, phenomena?
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Just come on?
Speaker 8 (17:56):
Many movie knowledge from how me is a graduate of
Charleton State, the one air raid head coach at Contact
back in the day.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
There you go, So you got your Tarleton's That's it.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
That's the long list.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
I mean, that's it.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
Mike and God, we've been doing this every week. We're
down to the final ten of this NFL Top hundred
and yes, Jalen Hurts did make the list. He is
number nineteen he became Mike Texan me early in the weeks.
We have to find so that twenty through uh through.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Eleven is out.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
I'm off Saint Brown, Ross Saint Brown from Detroit, Derek Stingley,
the quarterback for Houston, Dexter Lawrence, a great DT for
the Giants, Fred Warren of the linebacker from San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Jared Goff is fifteen.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
Trey Hendrickson, who finally signed a contract with Cincinnati's fourteen.
Piney sul the great tackle for Detroit is thirteen.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Chris Jones for the Chiefs is twelve. TJ. Watt is eleven.
So that leaves this ten in some quarter Yeah, it's
the two right, yeah, Jackson, Mahomes, Alan Burrow, they're obviously
the four quarterbacks left.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Jefferson Chase. I assume Henry's on there somewhere.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Uh Barkley.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
I would think Miles Garrett from from the Browns and
guess yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
And I think the one, yeah, you're missing one.
Speaker 6 (19:26):
And I think the one you're missing would be Patrick Sirtan.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
Patrick Sirtan, the great cornerback for the Fronts.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Unless he's already on the list.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
I looked, I don't him on there. Okay, all right,
I could be wrong. You Trent Williams offensive he was
number forty forty five.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Okay, good Mike, you guys, you guys will love this.
So I went back just because I was whatever, I
was looking at something the year to Trevor Lawrence got
drafted number one. I think it's a twenty twenty one draft.
The next two where the quarterback that went to the Jets,
it was a bust, and Trey Lance went third to
the nine. To think about this, the next time we
have a drafty fifth was Lamar, it was Chase Okay,
(20:06):
Pennay school went like seven, so ten went like nine.
Our wide receiver went ten. I believe Smith and Parsons
went twelve. Think about that. Yeah, that's like five potential
Hall of famers after the quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
So that the two Eagles that I thought would be
the top hunter didn't make it. No Dickerson, no Smith.
That's fine. I got nine players in it.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
So Jordan Malta, Cooper de g Quin and Mitchell, Jalen,
carter A, j Brown, Zach Bond, Lane, Johnson, jail At Hurts,
Saquad Barkley.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
That's that's a pretty.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
I'll take it.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
I gotta tell you something. I think we we We've
talked about this before. Davante's underrated because of the guy
that plays on the other side. I gotta believe. And
I'm a big Dickerson fan too. I just think he's good.
You can't put every Eagle on.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
The team exactly.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
I mean, isn't DeVante one the best hundred players in
the league?
Speaker 3 (21:06):
To me?
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Is?
Speaker 3 (21:06):
I mean? But I think it just came too many Eagles,
was what it came out to.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
Absolutely, And of that group, so let's say offense, defense, defense, defense, offense, defense, offense, offense, offense,
So a number of the defensive players like three defense,
six offense. I think I just mentioned that Mitchell Carter
on four defense, the Gene so four and five. So
(21:31):
that's pretty good balance too. So anyway that we'll get
to the top ten next week. But we know who
they are. Just two rookies by the way, on that.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Team, right, I bet that? Yeah, just a question of
what the order is, uh.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
And the Eagles defensive guy you just mentioned, three of
them are all going into their fourth year or less.
Two of them were going into their second year, and
four I think.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
That sounds eldest Bond. He's not that old, is he.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Eight? Maybe?
Speaker 3 (22:01):
Yeah? If he was thirty, they would have never got
on that contract.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
Yeah he's twenty eight. Yeah he so he's pretty old.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Yeah, he's very old. Is all right?
Speaker 4 (22:09):
We're on to We're on the week one of college
football Ohio State Texas. I think this was two and
a half, like for a long time, right Ohio State favored?
Speaker 2 (22:22):
I think it was. I think it was three.
Speaker 7 (22:24):
Yeah, that's amount of money.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
When I looked it up this morning at bet Parks,
Texas is now minus one.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Is that's still the case? Still, that's a four point
swing this week. I don't remember a high profile game,
and this is as high profile game as you'll get swinging.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
That much in this little amount of time and this
late and what would your reasoning be?
Speaker 3 (22:47):
The only thing I can.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Think is there might be a word out of Columbus
that whoever the quarterback is, in factly I don't even
know the name of the guy they chose, isn't going
to get it thought. And obviously arch Manning has a
name that whoever this guy is for a state. I
apologize for not knowing them. Uh is not.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
Pub in the same way Mike you got to pick
for us here Texas now minus one over the Texas.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
All along and I very rarely go gent to high
and especially I just think it's the revenge game. I
think Ohio State had that great run at the end
of last year, story gruneral most and I look, arch Man,
he might not be as good as maybe you know,
he might not be the messiah. But Texas's defense is
(23:33):
I'm telling you right now, I don't see Ohio State
scoring twenty points in this game.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Their defense is hang on, watch second, I say it again,
Julian is the Ohio.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
State scoring twenty points in the night if they get
into the twenties And I but Texas' defense is so good.
So Arkesian has probably been looking at this game, you know,
since they lost last year in the Semis. I I
just think I don't think it's gonna be you know,
it's probably going to be a fairly close game. But
the fact that this spread one or two things, Dick,
(24:07):
and you've done enough betting in your life. Yeah, okay,
either your publish want to be totally wrong or it
would late money. Who was just waiting, you know, they
didn't want to put the money a week ago and
they just came in at the end and then everybody
starts betting. But I think Corso is going to take Texas.
Which course is this? Corso don't do well in those things.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
I mean, he's well over five hundred.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
What's his all time record?
Speaker 4 (24:32):
Yeah, I'm sure they'll show it today. So one of
the great betting books ever written was written by former
Daily News sports editor Larry Merchant, called The National Football Lottery.
It was written in the early seventies. I want to
say so like we're talking fifty years ago, and Larry
(24:53):
wrote about a year betting on pro football, and I
would say I haven't seen I haven't read the book
of years, but would probably still be relevant. It was
just so fascinating back then because.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Nobody was really writing about it. Now everybody's writing about.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
It and it's become such a wild thing. And one
of his things was, Kyle, you'll love this be against
the movement of the money. In other words, whichever way
the money is going, go the other way.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
And if that's the case, you're taking the Buckeyes plus one.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
And if and if you had taken the buck like
Texas at plus three, you're feeling really good right now, yep, right,
I mean you could middle this thing. You could do
all kind of wild things.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
But anyway, that's you your thoughts on this context, Kyle.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
Well, and I'm starting to second guess myself because I
have been on record saying I'm going to go Ohio
State at Ohio Stage. It's because you know, Arts Manning
has the name. I think he's going to be great.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (25:48):
I want to see it first before I've bet on him.
But to Mike Current's point, Texas's defense, it's the end
all be all yep. Now I'm starting to second guess
because they named Julian Saying the starting coquarterback for Ohio
State on Saturday, and now the money has shifted.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (26:05):
So for me, I know this isn't you know, the
most interesting take, but I think I might stay away
at this point and just enjoy the game. If I
had to lean, I think I would switch and go
with the money and.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
Go with Texas.
Speaker 6 (26:18):
Okay, just because again with that money movement, after the
quarterback being named for Ohio State, people are scared to
take Ohio State and it's got to be for a
good reason. So I'm gonna stay away if I had
to lean I'd go Texas.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
So this is the noon game on Fox, the first
big game of the college football season, and unlike every
season prior to last season, this is not monumental. You
could lose and you're still alive, and yeah, just don't
get killed. Don't lose by one hundred would would be
helpful before we get into the rest of the college slate.
And I don't have a particular opinion on this game either.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
I just don't. I don't have a clue.
Speaker 5 (26:55):
Yeah, it's tough.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Week one man. Nobody had the clue exactly.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
Uh So, my man, Jerry Jones the other night decides
I'm going to try to do herschel Walker all over again.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Maybe that's what he decided.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
I'm not sure what he was doing, but so he
gets angry with Michael Parson's agent and says, you know what,
you're going to Green Bay get out.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
We'll take their very good defensive.
Speaker 6 (27:23):
Tackle, very good down here last year, but still the
decent good player.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
I saw him at UCLA.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Kenny Clark and two number one picks, which gives them
four number one picks the next two drafts, which is
kind of how they got the team of the nineties, right,
getting Oaseaiyan draft choices for herschel Walker, What did you
think of all this? I mean, what what is going
on here in Dallas?
Speaker 2 (27:46):
Well, I think I'm gonna look at it from an
Eagles perspective. I think they just made life tough for
grabs on the Eagles because I think this is what
green Bay needed. I know the player they trade it
was good. I don't care about the number one PIX
because that's next year's discussion, you know. So this year,
I think Green Bay is one of those teams that
(28:06):
kind of underachieved a little last year. I think the
quarterback was hurt, but that's okay. I don't think they're great.
But now I think, if God forbid, you get to
a playoff situation, you got Michael Parsons and Michael Parsons
is playing like Michael Parsons, Well, that could be a problem.
You know. Green Bay is basically saying we're all in.
You know, we're we're gonna do this, and we think
(28:29):
this could be the difference, you know, And I don't
know if it is or not, because their division's really good.
But Dallas, I think Jerry Jones it's all about Jerry Jones.
It's not a fountains and he told you that, and
that's why he's worth eleven the franchise, he's worth eleven billion,
or whatever the hell it's worth. But me, it doesn't
(28:49):
seem stupid that if you offered Mike in much whatever
he offered them, and basically I'm going to guess it
was close to what green Bay's given him. You know
it was, it was in the ball up. And then
you get upset because Micah says, no, you got to
talk to my agent first, and now you go six
months to get to this point. Why wouldn't you have
just if you really wanted Michael Parsons. I just think
(29:13):
it makes Dallas look bad and this is not going
to be the Herschel Wall for Tracy. But again, you
could get and if green Bay is good this year,
it's only gonna be maybe the twenty eighth pick in
the in the first round, which is still a first
round pick. And Dallas does draft well. I mean we've
seen that they usually draft pretty well. It just makes
no sense. I'm just and you knew it was going
to You knew that Jerry wasn't going to give it
(29:35):
in because Jerry doesn't give it. And you knew Michael
wasn't going to get dining because he threw the line
in the sand. So this is what you get.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
And I found it interesting that they finally they had
not really said they were going to trade until right
at the end the last day or so after he
apparently lounged on the training table at the exhibition game,
and there were obviously there had to be people that
were not happy about that at all, and he just said,
that's it, You're out of here. And here's what I
(30:03):
would say. I bet Michael Parsons and everybody knows him
around here. Obviously, he's from Harrisburg. He played at Penn State.
I was a great college player. He's a flash player
to me, and when he flashes, he's unbelievable. But Dallas
and Jerry Jones mentioned this. Nobody listened to him because's
one hundred year old man.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
It does. Nobody listens to him.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
But the reality is their run defense has been god
awful for years now, and I think they say, well,
we got Michael Parsons, Grady Sacks the quarterback, but he
doesn't think we can't stop anybody from running. So what
is he really doing for us. Our defense has been
trash for a number of years. That was the theory.
We'll see how it comes out.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
Kyle, your thoughts, Well, the guy that got is a
great run stopper. Apparently that's what he does. But Clark,
my answer to my answer to that would be, though
then why did you offer from the money?
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Much like that good point.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
That's your thought process. That's fine. But here's what Michael
Parsons is and we see this in the NFL a lot.
He's a guy that can disrupt things and he might
got There might be ten plays where mikeel doesn't do
a lot you know or whatever. You know, you're running
aginst it, but then he comes in the script sacks
quarterback or whatever.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
And when you see in the.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
NFL, look, Lawrence Taleer was great at that, right, Lawrencetaleer
was maybe the best and doing that he was the
great run Yeah. Yeah, but that's why he's Lawrence tale
And there's only one like one lawn sale. Yeah, but
there are guys in the NFL that can kind of
be that type of player where you know, you might
not get five plays out of him, but on the
(31:32):
sixth play you're going to get a play that might
turn the game around.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
And that's you know, that's what he's that's what he's
there for. I mean, Kyle, what did you think of this?
Speaker 5 (31:41):
I was, you know, facetiously saying it as Mike was saying.
But it's ego.
Speaker 6 (31:45):
It's just all egos. You have two big egos clashing. Yep,
there's no way that Jerry Jones made this move as
a football move. You could tell by the way that
he reacted during the press conference following the trade, talking
about how we're getting these first rounders that could turn
into great players. You had a great player exact, you're
hoping that these first round picks turn into Michael Parker.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Crafted them in the middle of the first roue yes value.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
So uh.
Speaker 6 (32:10):
To your point, Dick, you knew Jerry wasn't gonna been
the knee, so he shipped them out. He shipped them
to arguably the worst team you could have shipped him
to outside of the division, the team that absolutely handed
it to you in the playoffs last year, two years ago.
I'm sorry, made them that much better. They were legitimate
threat in the conference. If you were gonna trade Michael Parsons,
(32:33):
it should be in the AFC, so I trading Michael
Parsons to me doesn't make sense at all. It's even
worse when you trade them in the conference against a
conference rival that is a legit contender.
Speaker 4 (32:44):
That plays you in a couple of weeks. That play
I believe, and then I know we've got to go
to break.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Here.
Speaker 6 (32:50):
We have breaking news. Texas Ohio State is now a
pick them now. It's it's all over the place.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
The money's coming back on the buck back to a
pick them at bet Parker.
Speaker 5 (32:59):
They heard me lean towards Texas, So the money, Mike,
old that thought.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
We're going to get into all the selatches of college football.
We need to take a little break. College Football Week
one among the games Texas Ohio State Clemson hosts LSU.
That's tonight tomorrow night, Notre Dame hosting or excuse me,
Notre Dame at Miami. Pro football regular season is almost
here and the Birds, Mike.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
Can you just shut up? We'll get to that.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
The pro football regular season is almost here and the
Birds are back at a touchdown favorite, actually touchdown point
five favorite, now hosting Dallas and a Thursday night opener
on September.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
The fourth over under now forty seven points.

we're on next Saturday, those games are over, so we'll
get into that, Mike.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
The next game on the list also a noon game.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
This is in Atlanta on ABC Tennessee minus fourteen against Syracuse,
which both teams lose their quarterback. Tennessee's quarterback is now
in UCLA, and obviously Syracuse's quarterback is on the practice
squad here for the Eagles. Any thoughts on the falls
semi home game in the atl I would think they'd
(36:23):
have a lot of fans there.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
I wish I could tell you I knew more about.
I mean, Syracuse is one of those weird teams. It's
Hardt fran Brown's up there. You know, it used to
be a Temple assistant back when a South Jersey got done.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
A good job. It's done well.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
I like the job that the guy who's done in
Tennessee Hype Bowl, I think, But again, you got you know,
your quarterbacks at UCLA now because you're one famous why.
I mean, I would be surprised if Syracuse went down
there and won. But can I tell you in Week one,
the two touchdowns is not something that they could stay within.
I you know, it's just it's so hard at this point.
(36:58):
You know, as we say with the NFL Welt, the
first three or four weeks is basically like their exhibition season.
But college football is sort of there's always I do
that fraud five from my good friend Glenn Papaging because
I did the daily news forever and there's always three
or four games. That's why there's a fraud five, because
there's you know, you get the Bolton State go to
Army and Ben's a game. I wish I knew more
(37:21):
about Syracuse. They were good two years ago if I
remember correctly.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Then last year they had a good year.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Last year it was last year to year, that's right.
They beat Miami lead to keep Miami out of the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
Kyle McCord out a great year, their best wide out.
You're gonna see him at three point thirty today you
hit Beaver State and he's played for Penn State now.
But now Fran Brown's done well, I'm going to take
the cues in here with the fourteen. I like the
fact that it's indoors. They play indoors. Uh yeah, and
Tennessee again. I don't obviously they're going to have better players.
(37:53):
They're an SEC team. That's not the argument. But I'm
a Fran Brown guy. I just like how they played
since he's been there. I'm going to take the q's
plus the two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
Do you know what I don't like about college football anymore, Dick.
And it's just the reality of it. And I you know,
I got to get used to my sixty seven year
old brain has to get exactly what you just said.
You know, the Cues had this wide receiver, and look,
people transferred in the old days. I mean, it just
was a different way of transferring. But all of a sudden,
he's on Penn State, and Penn State probably has a
chance to win the national championship, and poor Syracuse is
(38:25):
up there trying to figure out who their wide receiver
is going to be for their new quarterback. I don't know.
It's just but it is. Its reality. It's not changing,
you know.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
It's not changing.
Speaker 4 (38:35):
This is the ABC game at noon, Kyle, Tennessee minus
fourteen over the Queues.
Speaker 5 (38:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
I think with this game being played in Atlanta, it's
gonna be more of a home type feel for Tennessee.
Don't know much about Syracuse, but I'm just gonna ride
with the better team here, even though it's fourteen points.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
I'll go with Tennessee at the money.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
I think, if you put it, Dick, if you put
a gun into my head, yeah, I would do what
your I would do. I would agree with you. Yeah,
to take fourteen h.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
Yeah, take the point. Hey, look it could be forty
two to three. I mean, I don't have a clue steal.
In reality, we'll be better at this in a couple
of weeks, right, I hope so. And it's harder, as
Mike just said, it's harder now than ever because all
the roster change over.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
It's just so much.
Speaker 6 (39:19):
More confident coming off the heels of everything that just happened,
you know already in week one.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
Right, And look, one of the reasons our next our
next game, and the team in the next game is
so highly thought of is because they have sixteen starters
back in an era where that doesn't happen. And the money, however,
is pouring in on the Nevada wolf Pack. Bed State
has gone from a forty four point favorite to a forty.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Three pow at bed Parks.
Speaker 5 (39:44):
Oh, it's down to forty two two.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
It's pouring in on the wolf Back. This is three
point thirty on CBS. H Kyle will let you go
first at State giving forty two to Nevada.
Speaker 6 (39:57):
Today, I'm leaning towards the a bot of money line
at plus four thousand, but against my better judgement four
million a million, against my better judgment, I am still
gonna lean Penn State. Here you're giving I think I'm
gonna give the forty two. Yeah, I mean nothing screams
(40:18):
College Football Week won like a forty two point spread,
So uh, give me Penn State.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
Mike. I know this is a game he thought long
and hard about.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
I mean again, like you just said, and he gets
me in trouble. So I would probably just take the
forty two and just hope that you only lose forty
nine to ten, you know, or whatever. And if he
gets to the second half, I mean he might call
off the dogs. Yeah, I don't know, or maybe their
second teamers are good enough to put more points in.
But I don't like games like this. I hate games
like this because you're basically just betting. You know who's
(40:52):
gonna win. You know they're gonna win by a lot, probably,
But is it gonna be like thirty a lot or
forty five a lot?
Speaker 6 (40:58):
You know, the fact that's a forty two points spread
in the over unders fifty four and a half. I
think if Nevada scores a touchdown and scores ten points.
Speaker 5 (41:06):
That forty two is going to be in trouble.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
All right, Only what if it's fourteenth? If it's fourteen
ten with two minutes going the first half, there will
be booze at Being State.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
Ye will not be happy. Look, it's the highest they
been rancked this centric.
Speaker 4 (41:26):
As far as I remember it being number two this century,
the number three and five on Merit when they had
a great.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
Year, lost one game all year.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
All right, yeah, three thirty ABC SEC versus the ACC.
Similar to Syracuse and Tennessee. Difference is the road team
is favored by fourteen and a half in this game.
Alabama fourteen and a half at Florida State, which is
coming off a This is hard to believe two in
(41:55):
ten seasons after being undefeated the regular season the year before.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
Alabama the coach, Yeah, he loses this game.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
He might not, They might not let him back to Tuscaloosa.
I'll start here. I can't believe Florida State is this bad.
But having said that, I'll take Alabama give.
Speaker 5 (42:17):
Him and said that they're that bad.
Speaker 3 (42:18):
Yeah, giving the fourteen and a half. Mike, your thoughts
on Bama and the Seminoles.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Well, I mean, look, Obviously the bors like he lost
three games this year. God, you know, and if they
hadn't lost, if they hadn't lost that game to Oklahoma League,
he would have been in the playoffs. Not good well yeah,
but but dander Bolt was that was early in the year.
But in the Oklahoma game. The Oklahoma game was horrible.
You lose twenty four to three in like Week twelve
(42:46):
or whatever it was, and they still almost made the playoffs.
They were the next team they would have got in
and he and now they say he's going to go
to more of a running game. They're going to go
back to kind of you know, he's going to get
away from his running pass and all that kind of crap.
I just can't see Alabama losing this game. I know
it used to be hard to go to Florida State
and win. I don't know if that's years ago, but
(43:12):
two years ago, I mean, they were good, but people
were questioning how good they were because their schedule was
really the quarterback is very good. And obviously when they
lost him, okay, I think I'm with you. I would
lean towards Bama, but again I would just caution from
people and say, it's week one.
Speaker 4 (43:28):
Yeah, exactly, Kyle, Alabama giving fourteen and a half to
Florida State.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
At dope Campbell's Stadium.
Speaker 6 (43:36):
Yeah, this is one of those It's either Bama or
you're staying away from the game again perceived the costs
in fourteen and a half week. One could be some
unpredictable elements in the game that happened. But yeah, I
think it's safe to say it's either Bama or nothing.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
Here, Mike, your new ESPN app, get it out on
the golf course.
Speaker 3 (43:58):
This is the game we've all been waiting for. SPN
plus three p thirty Temple minus two at U mess
and we have two here. Mike, you go first.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
Before I give you that real quick. Georgia Tech beat Colorado.
I think it was seventeen to ten at Now.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
What the spread was?
Speaker 2 (44:21):
Okay, I know it was a seven point Did they cover? They?
Speaker 3 (44:25):
I know, we like Georgia Tech did not? They did not?
Speaker 4 (44:28):
Uh, Colorado did not cover? He said, Georgia like three.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Okay, we like Georgia to John and I like George
that little. But I'm impressed that Colorado played that good
of a game.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
I mean, Georgia Tech fan, did I just ask you
about Temple and U mess.
Speaker 5 (44:44):
Well, Okay, he's avoiding.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
Okay, here's all you need to know. Here's all you
need to know. Temple's won three games each of the
last four years. Stanford has done the same thing. Well,
Temple has not won a road game. And I think
I have this right since nineteen it.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
Might be two nineteen. That's before the Pig has not won.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
A road game. Dick, they didn't like four or five.
Kyle could look it up.
Speaker 5 (45:10):
So you're saying the pandemic it's white, Temple's not that.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
That's it, that's the kid.
Speaker 2 (45:14):
No, I'm saying Rod Carry is white. Temple stunk.
Speaker 5 (45:17):
But that's okay.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
Now you have Casey Keeler coming in here. Case he's
a winner. He's he's got diego, he's got the whole thing.
You mask must not be very good if the Owl
is favored by two and a half, and I'm going
to take the Owl to break that losing streak, all
right and be two and oh when they play the
Sooner Boomers in three weeks or whatever? Is too love
(45:39):
this three weeks.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
The owls, I mean, we're talking a hostile environment of
like at least six.
Speaker 5 (45:47):
Yes, he's very.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
Playing Are they playing to Hicks Curry If they're.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
Playing a Curry Hits cage and then like the second
half of me at the Mullen Center. I mean, look,
who the hell is going to see you.
Speaker 4 (46:00):
Under any circumstances, much less these circumstances.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
I mean, what is you master doing playing football?
Speaker 2 (46:07):
I don't know what is playing football?
Speaker 4 (46:09):
Yeah, I was waiting for that. Kyle is a loyal
North broad Street along. Yes, your thoughts on the Owls
a road favorite.
Speaker 5 (46:19):
Let's think they went on the road in twenty twenty one.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
Oh, it's been a while at at Aker they beat
the Zips, they beat the won like three games in
the last five years.
Speaker 5 (46:31):
Yeah, Temple Broke, give me the Owls.
Speaker 6 (46:36):
Anytime I can get my Owls as a road favorite,
I'm gonna jump all over it so I can get disappointed.
Speaker 5 (46:42):
Gimme Temple.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
This is the easiest pat of the year. I am
thinking Marcus Camby, Derrick Kellogg, Lou Roe, Uh, maybe Edgar Padilla,
Carmelo Treviation, v Aso, John Calipery, Bruiser Flint and the
(47:04):
minute Men plus the two and if.
Speaker 4 (47:09):
Any any one of them was playing with you, mess
would be a lot. I mean, you mess football, what
what is that? I mean, Temple has at least produced
some pro players. Has you mass ever.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
Produced a player play in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (47:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (47:23):
I'm sure they have, but I mean Temple is actually
that some good players through the years and good coach.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
I think I think you massed when Mark was Mark
whippoint you mess, I think you would. And they were
actually not that bad. But that was they want Mark
Whipple could coach.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
They wanted f BS that either were.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
They they were probably probably they're probably counsel.
Speaker 3 (47:46):
Against Rhode Island.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
I'm going to throw you guys at thought. I was.
I was together this week with the guy.
Speaker 3 (47:52):
Real, this is scary. You're giving us a thought.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
This is not no real good Temple person who could
say who it was because I don't want to put anyway.
Really he's really been in the Temple his whole life.
He's been very influenceid with him. And I said them, look,
we were talking, and he goes, okay, so let's say
they win six games, five six, whatever, they have a
good year. He said to me, what difference does it make?
(48:19):
And he's right. The whole point with Temple football is
let's say two years from now, case he's winning seven
or eight games, they maybe go to a minor bowl game.
What give me the next sentence? Like, there is no
next sentence, and they shouldn't probably and they cannot compete
in the economic environment. He was telling me the numbers,
(48:39):
it's like nuts, they have zero chance. Now in their league,
they might have a chance to beat some of those teams,
but again it's it's and I start thinking about it,
I'm like, hey, if you're kind of right, but Temple,
you know, they don't want to give up the ship
because it's football, and football's perceived, you know, your big time.
But you know the difference between Temple and Penn State
(49:03):
has never been greater.
Speaker 4 (49:04):
My guess is Penn State's quarterback is making more than
Temple's team.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
You might not be far off.
Speaker 4 (49:11):
Yeah yeah, I mean, they have no revenue coming in
to help play pay players, so obviously they're getting something.
But and and basketball is it's similar, but football is
even worse because there's so much money in football. And
these top teams like Penn State, I mean, they they're
(49:32):
all they're all athletic department is funded by football money.
Speaker 5 (49:35):
So they're gonna.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Say, do you see how many teams? How many teams
in the next five to ten years. Yeah, I think
they're going to have to give up football now. They're
just going to look at it and they're going to say,
I understand there's a temple football is Joe Kleckoder I mean,
but Paul Palmer, there's there's you know, some things there.
I get it. But if they were to drop football
and get into the Atlantic ten, let's say, where they
(49:58):
can play basketball and all the other sports, they would
have a fighting chance. Nobody cares about basketball because money wise,
it doesn't make the money football meets. But again, you
got to give you your school a fighting chance. And
I just think this whole American Conference thing has flown
that you know, Cincinnati's not in it, Houston's not in it,
or Central Florida is not in it, and you're just you.
Speaker 3 (50:19):
Know, oh god, it's shy. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
So there's there's two great games today. The other one
is tonight seven thirty ABC in Clemson, South Carolina. Clemson
minus four at bed Parks against LSU.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
LSU. I just saw this that they've lost five straight openers.
Brian Kelly's oh three, Yes.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
They have.
Speaker 4 (50:41):
It's just it's kind of and obviously give them credit.
They're going out and actually playing somebody. They're not playing
Nevada to yes they are if they are, and not
only playing.
Speaker 3 (50:49):
Somebody there playing them on the road.
Speaker 4 (50:52):
And you know, a top ten program over the last
ten to fifteen years, and Clemson, Kyle will start with
you Tigers with two really good quarterbacks, I mean Klebnick
and nuss Meyer. I mean two guys that could be
first team All American quarterbacks. This is gonna be a
fun game tonight, Death Valley against Death Valley in Death Vallley.
Speaker 5 (51:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (51:13):
Again, this is a Week one matchup where I'm gonna
I'm just gonna ride with who I think is the
better team. Yeah, I'm gonna go with Clemson minus four. Geez,
another Week one, Week one toss up, but it could
go either way here.
Speaker 5 (51:29):
I'm just gonna ride Clemson. I think they're the better
team right now. And I'm not a.
Speaker 6 (51:33):
Brian Kelly fan as most marn so yeah, a little
bit of heart in this one as well, So ye
give me Clemson.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
Yeah, I'm gonna take Clemson too. I think they are
the better team. They are home.
Speaker 5 (51:43):
I think LSU.
Speaker 4 (51:44):
This is the best group Kelly has had. Clearly, they
have some guys coming back. They brought it a lot
of they spent a lot of money. They have a
lot of money to spend. I like Clemson of this game.
Speaker 3 (51:53):
I can just have this. I have this visual Brian
Kelly going.
Speaker 5 (51:57):
Nuts on the sideline, which I would have loved this say, when.
Speaker 4 (51:59):
Things go bad and him going nuts and patting his
fist the postgame press conference and doing stuff he does.
And I'll be quite happy if all that happens. Mike,
Clemson minus four.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
I don't normally like laying four with against a team
as good as LSU. And they're good. I mean, they're
probably not national title LSU, but they're really good. I
think Clemson could bet a surprise team of everything. And
I think the quarterback has a legitimate chance to win
the Heisman if they have that kind of season, which
(52:32):
usually because the ACC is the a SEC, it's not like,
you know, trying to win the SEC or the Big Ten.
And I think Dablo does a pretty good job down there.
He's always done a pretty good job. He's got a
couple of rings. But the reason why I like Clemson's
They've got two defensive linemens that are right now projected
as like top fifteen picks. That's what that means. Take it,
(52:54):
and I think that's the difference in the game. I
think they're going to get to the LSU quarterback and
he's prone to reing it over. He's very good. He's
obviously very good. I hate playing for but if I
got to take a side in this game, I've got
to take the Tigers because they I think if I'm Clemson,
they lose this game, their seasons out over the game.
(53:15):
But if they win this game, they're pointing themselves right
towards a buy in the playoffs and all that kind
of stuff. And I think they see if they've been
down a couple of years, you know, they haven't been
to Clemson that we knew five years ago or whatever
I think this is. You know, in the SEC, even
if LSU wins this game, well certainly would be a
big boost for them. You know, they're gonna lose a
(53:37):
couple of games probably, you know, because that's what you
do in the SEC. You know, you lose a couple
of games. But man, it scares me a little that
l s U's lost as many openers in a row
because you just figured at some point to do to
win one just because. But man, Clemson's a tough place
to play the boys.
Speaker 4 (53:59):
I was standard couple of years ago for basketball, and
their their sids also their basketball analysts took me on
a tour of the stadium. It's a it's a really
cool place, Clemson's campus. It's a beautiful campus. I was astonished.
I don't really know much about it, and it's apparently
by all accounts, it's.
Speaker 3 (54:16):
A very high academic school. It's not an easy place
to get into. Uh So I'm with you. I think
it's a hard place to play for sure, and I
think I have this right.
Speaker 4 (54:27):
So the great LSU team with Burrough, Chase and Jefferson,
which you can make the case that one of the
great teams in college football history, did they not hammer
Clemson in the championship game? Isn't that who they pound?
Speaker 3 (54:39):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (54:40):
Yeah, Clemson hasn't quite been the same since then. That
was Trevor Lawrence's last game or second to he played
one more year. They haven't quite been the same, uh
since LSU pounded them. So I think this is the
first time they've played since then, so Dabo Parky has
not forgotten that game either.
Speaker 6 (54:58):
So also, no Joe Burrow, no Joe Burrow, No, no,
no Joe Burrow, no John Janssen today, but he did
text me his picks in the two games we went over.
He's on Texas as well. And then we're going full
panel here.
Speaker 4 (55:12):
With past Clemson. So we're got a mike. Let me
get to a break. We got more games to get to.
I got some other general thoughts. We got to talk
about the Phillies, specifically Kyle Schwerber not one, not two,
not three, but four home runs on Thursday night, I
mean crazy. Then our man Castianos is whiny because he
(55:32):
got taken out for defensive purposes. Really, you gotta be
happy you're in. What are you talking about? So we'll
get to that, get to the rest of the college
football games. College football Week one among the games Texas,
Ohio State, Clemson hosting at LSU, Notre Dame visiting Miami.
Speaker 3 (55:50):
That's tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (55:51):

more games to get to tonight. Speaking of teams that
(58:07):
might drop football, there's rumblings at Cal Berkeley they might
just get out. They've lost so much money out there
and now they're in the ACC where their big rival
is is Duke uh Oregon State minus two at home
against Cal. Mike, I know you'll be up for this
at ten thirty tonight on ESPN.
Speaker 2 (58:30):
Hey, Dick, are you serious about Cal? Is that?
Speaker 4 (58:33):
Yeah, there is some discussion about that. Yeah, yeah, I
just think there, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (58:38):
You know?
Speaker 3 (58:38):
What's the point.
Speaker 2 (58:40):
Well, again, we could probably make that statement about more
schools than we would care to to fit. And again
it's just the school has to look at itself. And
the reasoning always was football brings something to the equation,
you know, gives you an identity, It gets donors to
give money at all. And I get all that, but man,
if you're winning too three four games every year and
(59:02):
you can't compete with the Notre Dames of the world
within il money or man, I don't know. I don't
know any much about either of these teams.
Speaker 4 (59:10):
Aregon State pack two against the ACC you go with
in core Vallasy, Mike, you're gonna stay up and watch
this sun and I.
Speaker 5 (59:22):
Know you will. Yeah, you have to.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
I'm telling you what. I will take the home team.
Speaker 4 (59:27):
I'll take the need a deep recap next week taking
Oregon State the Beavers minus two against Cal.
Speaker 6 (59:35):
Kyle, I don't care for this game, so I will
go shocked. I will go with the home team as well.
Speaker 4 (59:43):
All right, So here's an interesting game in Tucson tonight.
Arizona minus fourteen and a half against Hawaii, which beats
Stanford on a buzzer beating field goal by a Japanese
kicker who learned how to kick by watching YouTube videos.
Speaker 5 (59:59):
Sounds like can beat.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
I mean, you can't make this stuff up. That's the
tech they covered, They covered, they did. That's the ten
thirty t n T game.
Speaker 4 (01:00:07):
Arizona, of course, coming off a big twelve championship spot
in the playoffs where they really outplayed Texas in my opinion,
and could have easily won that game. Uh but their
their star player, Cam Scataboo is now with the Giants.
The quarterback is back, Mike. I know, Timmy changs want
to know. For Hawaii, what are you thinking, sometan?
Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
Somebody said that Hawaii did not play well last week,
but they the lined apparently went from like eight. They
think Hawaii's valued here. I don't think Hawaii's value anywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
But that's me unless you're visiting there.
Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Unless you're visiting there, I have no clue about this game.
But again, Arizona, man, you know what, against my better judgment,
I'll just say Arizona, I'll touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (01:00:57):
You're taking you're taking the Wildcats in Tucson coming off
a great year. Were really they were not far away
from being in the semi finals play in Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
I mean they they wouldn't really, they would have lost Texas.
Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
The guy, Yeah what that game went overtime? Right?
Speaker 5 (01:01:14):
Double?
Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
Absolutely? Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
In fact, and I remember they had the game one.
That's Arizona State. I'm losing what I just said that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
Guy, Yeah, that's okay. Yeah, and there was a controversial
call in that game. I remember about sid but everything.
Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
Yeah, Arizona, Arizona has been wandering very different.
Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
Yeah, Arizona is in the Big twelve also, right that, Yeah,
it's correct. And again I know nothing but why he's
getting on a plane and traveling somewhere to the mainland. Clearly,
I think so Arizona will probably win by ten and
they won't cover.
Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
But that the right team, that's the right state, right,
you had the right state.
Speaker 4 (01:01:58):
Yeah, let me make sure before I go any further
and embarrass myself further. Yeah, now Arizona State is playing
Northern Arizona or ESPN.
Speaker 5 (01:02:06):
Plus see it all comes full circle.
Speaker 3 (01:02:08):
So TNTN, HBO Max Mike Huge game tonight in Arizona, Hawaii.
I know you'll be watching that.
Speaker 4 (01:02:14):
All right, here's the game in the Rose Bowl today.
Four for a brief time, pack twelve rivals. Now, now
we have the Big twelve against the Big ten Utah
minus five at UCLA eleven o'clock Fox game, and UCLA
has the quarterback whose name I can't pronounce, who was
(01:02:34):
at Tennessee Tennessee. I love UCLA in this game plus
the five. I think they're the lock of the week.
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
Market Utah is Utah recently is great in Utah. YEP
doesn't do well when they go away from Utah. So
I agree with you, Dick. I again, I don't know
anything about ninety nine teams at this point other than
what I've read. I'll think UCLA is getting the get in.
Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
The five at home, was six at bet Park's now five.
Speaker 5 (01:03:03):
You c l A's coaches, Deshaun Foster, you see it.
Speaker 4 (01:03:06):
I'd like they finished well last year. I like what
you did in the portal. Uh the rose Ball will
be rocking. Actually, well, nobody goes.
Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
To these case.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
How many people with that game Dick, Yeah, forty.
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Fifty maybe Labor Day weekend. I don't see it.
Speaker 6 (01:03:21):
Well, now I gotta have my TV setup so I
can switch back and forth between Arizona, Hawaii, Yes, uh,
Oregon State Cal, Oregon State Cow, and Utah U c
l A.
Speaker 2 (01:03:31):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:03:32):
You say it's the lock of the year for U
c l A plus five and a half at home.
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
The lock of today. I don't know about the year.
Speaker 5 (01:03:39):
I'll still ride it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
U c l A.
Speaker 4 (01:03:41):
Yeah, I'll take Do you like my confidence? Yeah, I'll
take the home. I did give out a lock last week.
It was Fresno State. They got pounded by Kansas.
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
By like a hundred.
Speaker 6 (01:03:52):
Still Arizona Arizona State, hiccup. But I think you're going
to right the ship here in the lock of the days.
Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
Boy, think about this, boys, what we're doing here. If
there wasn't gambling, if there wasn't point spreads, yes, these
games most people wouldn't care about. But because there's plata
are you.
Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
You're giving me a flash here? This is stunning. People
would not be interesting.
Speaker 5 (01:04:19):
Get out of it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Amazing.
Speaker 5 (01:04:21):
That's the hottest take of the century.
Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
No, no, no, but but it's amazing to me. That
we're sitting here going well, Hawaii, he's getting too tough down.
I couldn't name a player on Hawaii. I know, Timmy
Kay and you had Arizona being Arizona State exactly. And
it's hilarious though it's we're.
Speaker 5 (01:04:39):
Betting and we still don't have it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:04:43):
Let's move on to Sunday where I have my other
lock of the week.
Speaker 4 (01:04:48):
Lot South Carolina minus eight against Virginia Tech three o'clock
ESPN in Atlanta.
Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
How about it?
Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
Yeah, then line has got a quarterback. Baby.
Speaker 3 (01:04:59):
I love you're quarterback. I think he's great, and you
don't have the son.
Speaker 4 (01:05:05):
Frank Beemer's son, Shane Beamer, is coaching South Carolina against
his dad's old school, which is coached by the former
defensive coordinator at Penn State who hasn't really done botched
down there.
Speaker 3 (01:05:18):
I love South Carolina. I think this light is late.
I think they're three touchdowns. Give me the game home
home atl atl ATLT.
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
I'm telling you this quarterback will have a big time
Bill cant He'll count for four touchdowns in that.
Speaker 5 (01:05:35):
Game at least.
Speaker 4 (01:05:35):
An animal big time love that dude, I mean they
were big time in the SEC.
Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
Last year and they were good.
Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
At the end of the year, they were good.
Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
Yeah, I love South Carolina in this game. Uh, Kyle,
you're gonna make it unanimous.
Speaker 6 (01:05:50):
Yeah, I'm gonna go South Carolina. That quarterbacks in the tank, all.
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
Right, So here we go.
Speaker 4 (01:05:57):
Seven thirty Tomorrow night, AB see Notre Dame up to now.
I have minus three at Bad Parks it was two
and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:06:06):
Yes, it is three.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
STI minus three with a quarterback, unknown quarterback at Miami
with an unknown quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:06:15):
Riley Leonard is on somebody's squad. And obviously cam Ward
is starting for Tennessee in the pros. Seven thirty ABC,
Kyle will let you lead off the Irish field goal
favorite in the I was about to say the orange Balls.
Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
I realized that was destroyed like thirty years ago. Whatever
stadium the Dolphins player, hard Rock Stadium, whatever that's called.
Speaker 6 (01:06:39):
How do you bet this game? You don't know the
quarterbacks three point spread. I'm gonna drop a pencil here.
I'll take the road favorite. I'll go Notre Dame here.
Speaker 5 (01:06:52):
I'll take Michael Well, the.
Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
Notre Dame coach who got to the total game last year.
God bless you has lost the game in September each
of his first each of his first three seasons, he's
lost the game in September last year. Was that the
one at home that made no sense that everybody thought
it was going to keep them out of playoffs in
Northern Michigan or Northern Illinois or whatever else something it
was somebody I look again about the quarterback. Miami should
(01:07:21):
have been in the playoffs last year if they had
not lost that game to Syracuse, which I think kept
them out of the a SEC title. I'm trying to
remember the circumstances, but they had a chance they were
in the playoffs. That I'm going to take Miami. I
think it's a Convicts, you know, the Conflicts versus the
Convicts thing from fifty forty years ago. I think it's
this is a really good game between two good teams.
(01:07:42):
But I'm gonna take Miami at home.
Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
I'm taking the Iris because I think they'll run run, run, run, run, run,
run run, and they're legitimately good.
Speaker 4 (01:07:52):
By the end of the last season, they were terrific.
I mean, they were really good.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
But they still should have lost the Penn State in
the semi finals.
Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
Yeah, I mean Penn State kind of gave the game
away at the end. They had they did, but that's
that's a whole other story, which we can get into
in a second. But yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna take
the Iris giving three if not a big fan of
giving three on the road, Uh, I don't know if
Miami's all the way back. This is kind of a
quasi acc game since they're both sort of in the
a SEC. Notre Dame has to play games, but they're
(01:08:19):
not part of the league's standings, right, I mean, I
don't think it's just weird.
Speaker 3 (01:08:24):
They don't.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Is that?
Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
Do I have that right?
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
Mike?
Speaker 3 (01:08:26):
Are they Are they part of the league's standings?
Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
They're not. They're part No, No, they're part of the
league for all the other sports like basketball games against
they play those games, right, So they're technically but they
do not compete for the a SEC title or any
of that. And don't ask me why that. I guess
everybody wants Notre Dame so bad that they were willing
to do that, and that was as much of a
(01:08:50):
commitment as Notre Dame was willing to make.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
So Notre Dame doesn't care. They're not sharing their money
within anybody.
Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
They're getting all the college football sport. When Notre Dame's
playing Miami, when Notre Dames playing Clemson, when Notre Dame's
playing good football teams, the sport is better off.
Speaker 4 (01:09:08):
So go for it at seven thirty Tomorrow night at
ABC UH and then finally our final college game that
I wrote that if anybody has another game, is interested,
to go for it. Chapel Bill, as they're calling him,
is making his debut, getting three and a half at
home TCU minus three and a half at North Carolina
(01:09:29):
eight o'clock ESPN Monday Night Football.
Speaker 3 (01:09:33):
Mike will start with you, Bill Belichick.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
I'm your is the better team? Is his girlfriend going
to be on the sidelines helping him coach?
Speaker 5 (01:09:43):
I think he's calling the place.
Speaker 3 (01:09:44):
He's the offensive coordinator.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
Yeah, the offense to total sits unseen. I'm going to
take Bill getting three and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:09:52):
I'm gonna run, yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:09:54):
Just because no logic or knowledge behind it.
Speaker 5 (01:09:59):
I'm just gonna run.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
They're going to carry multi field at the end of
the game, and he's gonna retire.
Speaker 5 (01:10:03):
He's gonna win the game, and they're gonna lose every
game for the rest of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:10:08):
Undefeated college football coach.
Speaker 5 (01:10:10):
Yeah, this is the other.
Speaker 3 (01:10:11):
This is my third lock of the week. Horn Frogs.
Speaker 4 (01:10:18):
Minus three and a half against Chapel Bill. It was
gonna look out on the field and go where is
Tom Brady?
Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
I got problems?
Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
Oh he was saying that his last four years in
New England.
Speaker 6 (01:10:32):
Precisely my point, Michael. I have some degenerate picks from
John Jansen as well. Janson, he's taking two lane minus
five over Northwestern.
Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
Greenway a home in New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
I like that. I actually like that.
Speaker 5 (01:10:49):
Toledo plus ten and a half at Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
Wow, supposed to be good this year.
Speaker 4 (01:10:59):
He's taking Virginia Tech game we went over, and he's
also taking that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
That gives me more confidence. I'll double my bet on
South Carolina Chanson's second Virginia.
Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
Yeah, that's right. He kept us from going full battlety,
that's right.
Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:11:13):
And then he's taking the Notre Dame.
Speaker 4 (01:11:15):
Spread and how bat is East Carolina squad? They were
driving at North Carolina State to tie the game with
like thirty seconds to go, and I think either threw
a pick or fumbled or oh they didn't get a
fourth down.
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
That's what it was. The fourth and one. It didn't
make it.
Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
Yeah, but John John took the NC States as I recalled,
because well, revenge game from last year, and I don't
think they called. I don't think the NC States covered.
Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
They had a fight last year and a bowl game
at the end of the big fight. Yeah, people are
not happy. So we have made it through week one
of the College Football Slate.
Speaker 4 (01:11:53):
We're gonna do a NFL at the end of the show,
but a couple other topics to get to. So the
Phillies went to the York and look god awful, losing
three to the Mets and everybody started the panic. And
then of course they beat Atlanta short ritch four home runs.
They hit seven home runs in the game. They went
one hundred to two, and the Mets lose to the Nats.
Speaker 5 (01:12:15):
The Nats, no Marlands, the.
Speaker 4 (01:12:16):
Marlin, same thing, Matt. That's Mark six. So it's back
to five games or under thirty to go, twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:12:24):
Seven to go.
Speaker 4 (01:12:25):
And for those interested, if it's a tie at the end,
the Mets will win the tiebreaker because they lead the
season series seven to two.
Speaker 3 (01:12:33):
I believe there's four games left, so the best the
Phillies can do is seven to six.
Speaker 5 (01:12:37):
I believe they start that series September eighth September.
Speaker 4 (01:12:40):
So next week we're talking, yes, in a week or so, Monday,
Next Monday, the Mets are here and that should solve
whatever problems need to be solved at that point, Mike,
are you all right?
Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
The Phillies? And what did you think of swarreating?
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
For this is what was funny. I was looking on
the ESPN website. I called up the bay. I saw
Schwarber home run, Like zeroll down a little bit. I
saw Schwarber home run. Oh, hit two. I went down
Schwarber home run, and when I got to the fourth one,
I was like, what, yeah, my phone, here's my here's
(01:13:15):
my thought on First off, Philadelphia fans are idiots, some
of them. When the Phillies threw up and lose three
to the Mets, okay, fine, and they've lost nine straighted,
I get it the whole thing. So does anybody realize
that the Mets record at here is this is almost
the same. They're like, the Phillies have won ten in
or last fourteen against the Mets here, and if you
(01:13:38):
extended out even more, it's worse. So why are people like,
would you just calm down the day that the day
of Swarber hit the four home runs because I listened
to because I'm driving around, I had talk radio on
some guy Joe from Manniunk or whatever. Paulson says they
shouldn't they shouldn't re sign Schwarburg because all he does
is hit home runs. Well, okay, okay, and I get
(01:14:02):
that he's also leading the league. I think in RBIs
a lot. He's going to have an historic team, might
have the best season of any Philly ever, you know,
going past Ryan Howard or whatever which is. But anyways,
this is what's going to happen. Let's just tell you
guys right now, the Phillies are going to be the
(01:14:22):
third seed a right, and they're going to play the
Mets in the first round, and the three games are
going to be but the three games are going to
be here, and people will be losing their minds. They
will be losing their minds. That is that's going to happen.
Speaker 4 (01:14:37):
Yeah, and they still they're still live for the two seed,
right they actually have right there with the Dodgers. Uh,
right right now the same No, they're one ahead of
the one ahead of the Dodgers. I don't know who
won that season series if they end up tyed.
Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
I think I think the Phillies. The Phillies have the
tie breaker over both San Diego and l A.
Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
I'm almost sure, all right, And obviously Milwaukee's going to
be the one seed bar some disaster. Well, I mean,
how far ahead of that they are four and a
half four and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:15:09):
But Phillies, you like their chances are at Milwaukee?
Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
Oh, there you go?
Speaker 5 (01:15:13):
The three games, yeah, starting Monday.
Speaker 4 (01:15:16):
And just for the for the record, to Mike's point
about Shore for forty nine home runs, which is second
in MLB to Cal Rowley's got fifty and one hundred
and nineteen RBIs, which is nine clear of theve Alonzo,
who's second in Major league.
Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
Who is second on the Phillies, and Harper second on
the Phillies. What twenty one?
Speaker 3 (01:15:36):
Uh something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
That's and Harper missed some time. I get it, you
missed some time. But do people understand a team that's
built is a slugging team, which a Philies keep tough.
They're not a slugging team. They have one guy, two guys.
They're sluggers.
Speaker 3 (01:15:54):
They have twenty two for hard Yeah, and when.
Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
They get into the playoffs and teams pitch them for
no had to pitch them. There's always that thing in
the back of your mind that if we can get
past the first three hitters in the lineup and so
he's got nothing from then on. If Castellano is bitching
about them taking him out for Bader, why are you
kidding me?
Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
Yeah? Really, grow up?
Speaker 4 (01:16:14):
Yeah, I mean he thinks all the manager's doing, Mike
is getting ready for what he's gonna do. If the
ad the playoff games when they have a lead, cast
is a terrible right fielder.
Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
He's the worst advance and.
Speaker 6 (01:16:26):
He's not exactly you know, right playing that well offensive.
Let's just on on base percent.
Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
Irrison. Bader is a decent okay, good whatever, I like,
better than with it. If they don't get rid of
Castellanos in this offseason, to somebody, then they're making a
huge mistake. Be good. The great thing about Castle Loanas
was he never bitched about anything. You know, he just
went out did his job. Everybody likes him well. In
the last two months he's pitched, and when you had.
Speaker 3 (01:16:55):
A guy's pitching because he comes out in.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
The ninth in I mean, really, you know what, dude,
sit down just to sit down. And they got but
they got to get rid of him, and I might
castle lonas I've always kind of tried to stand behind
them and say, hey, he's a good locker room all
those things. No, no, he's got to be going because
now if you're becoming that guy, you don't need to
You don't need that guy.
Speaker 6 (01:17:18):
Don't you're making twenty million a year to be mediocre
offensively and abysmal defensive.
Speaker 4 (01:17:24):
Before we get to our final break and get through
the NFL slate, we'll do a couple of games in
the NFL obviously, because we'll be on next Saturday, we
can do the rest of the game.
Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
So we got a Thursday night Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:17:34):
Game and then a Friday night in Brazil Kansas City
and the LA Chargers. In the Premier League mic after
two games, there's only three teams that are undefeated.
Speaker 3 (01:17:50):
Arsenal one of them yours, Tottenham and Liverpool Tomorrow eleven
thirty at Liverpool Arsenal Liverpool Arsenal thus in two games
is seven to nil. Tottenham is also has not been scored.
Speaker 4 (01:18:10):
Liverpool, however, the defending EPL Chimps led to nil in
both games, got tied in both games. They got tied
by Newcastle the other day, which played the entire second
a half with ten men because of a red card,
got totally outplayed, and then won it at the buzzer
(01:18:31):
on a goal from a sixteen year old who just
came off the bench and won the previous game on
a goal by a guy who've.
Speaker 3 (01:18:38):
Never scored a Premier League goal before. I'm a little
concerned tomorrow. Should I be concerned with Arsenal at Liverpool?
Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
Well, you could be Man United because they're having a
lot of from what everybody.
Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
They're going to get fired there.
Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
They're all gone, yeah, the whole here's the game I
care about. Yes, Real Madrid apparently is going to play
liverpoo Pool soon and that.
Speaker 4 (01:19:02):
That hasn't been determined. If they're one of the Champions
League squads.
Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
Yes, oh, I bet they.
Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
Were gonna play Liverpool and and they got a bad drawing.
Thought I read where they were gonna play Liverpool and
Arsenal or something like that.
Speaker 3 (01:19:14):
They played. They played man City at Liverpool, the champs
like you.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
I like it when the Spanish teams. I like it
when the Spanish teams play Liverpool. That's what I like,
because you know I hate. I know you do.
Speaker 3 (01:19:29):
The only the only athlete.
Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
There's only two athletes I like ever from Spain, Thedal
and Alcharisz. The rest of them out. Soccer players don't
like them at all. Tennis players, fine, no soccer.
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
How about Sevy? How about Schevy Dowstairs? Could you live
with Chevy?
Speaker 3 (01:19:44):
No like or nothing?
Speaker 4 (01:19:47):
There was not was not a fan. Give me give
me Alcaraz with his new haircut. I love that with
his new haircut.
Speaker 2 (01:19:54):
I'm gonna make I'm gonna make a bold prediction. Yes,
And because center is really good and the centers, young
Aparez is going to win at least twenty major titles.
Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
Guy's kid is amazing, Yeah, it is.
Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
What's like, he's twenty one, he's got I think four
or five already.
Speaker 3 (01:20:14):
That's great.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
And him and center probably in the next ten years,
they're probably going to be going back and forth. And
I'm making.
Speaker 5 (01:20:23):
Not a center, You're not a center.
Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
He's hard. He's harder to like, Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
Can smile? Can you smile just once?
Speaker 2 (01:20:30):
Just give me a shot?
Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
No smile? Twenty two up there.
Speaker 4 (01:20:36):
With five major titles already there you go. All right,
all right, We're gonna get to a final break. Then
I'm gonna come back talk a little.
Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
Eagles versus the Parsonless Cowboy.
Speaker 4 (01:20:49):

Speaker 4 (01:23:20):
We have traded Kyle Nunnamaker for Mike Kern or maybe
the other way around. One showed up here, the other
one took off for South Carolina. They passed in the night.
I'm Dick Girardi and we are on to the NFL. Finally,
Thursday Night Football. It's actually early this year because Labor
Day is so early. Labor Day's on the first, So
the NFL season is starting about as early as it
(01:23:42):
could possibly.
Speaker 5 (01:23:43):
Start, which I'm all all four.
Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
We're all good.
Speaker 4 (01:23:47):
So this is week one of eighteen for the Eagles
and then three playoff games as they go on to
win the Super Bowl, which is in Santa Clara.
Speaker 3 (01:23:58):
Where is the super Bowl? But we know the answer
to that. Why do I think it's at Levi's State?
Take it?
Speaker 4 (01:24:06):
Eagles minus seven and a half over the Cowboys. This
line has been seven for months, and it changed just
the other day at bet Parks because Michael Parsons is
now playing for the Green May Packers.
Speaker 3 (01:24:22):
Mike, I know you have said from the start the
Eagles are a lot. Bet at all the money line. Yeah,
I got to win the game. Bet at all the
money line. You can't lose. They're like, what minus what
three fifty on the money line, and that's.
Speaker 2 (01:24:37):
Too much, that's too much delay.
Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
But what do you think and Dallas can score?
Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
We think.
Speaker 3 (01:24:47):
We don't know. If they can stop the Eagles from scoring,
that could be there.
Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
Here's the thing. I didn't think about this till a
couple of minutes ago. But I don't know what impact.
I mean, do Cowboys have a new coach, the quarterback
is supposedly healthy, and when the quarterback is healthy, they
win twelve games. That's what they do. If you go
back and look through Dark's career, they win and they score.
They just stink in the playoffs and they lose a
playoff game that everybody says, asked, see that Dallas doesn't
(01:25:13):
win here very often. The Eagles don't win very often
in Dallas. Uh, but what impact is the is the
Partons situation going to have on both teams? I mean,
I don't know how the Eagles think about the Cowboys,
but I gotta believe that some of the people are
sitting there going out they don't have MIC and now,
like you know, I can't believe this subconsciously. You don't
(01:25:33):
think how this Dallas. Is Dallas going to come in
here flat because the team is deflated because mikee got traded.
I don't know, and that's why I find it hard.
But I just the Eagles. It's you don't get to
do this very often in the NFL or any sport. Right,
You're the defending champs, You're opening the season, You're the
spotlight team. Here's the here's the game. Man. I gotta
(01:25:54):
believe that place is going to be electrical on Thursday night.
Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
Don't you, no question?
Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
I mean, it's gonna be right.
Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
And NFL Network, I believe this is Wednesday night, Kyle,
they have the recap of the Eagles twenty twenty fourth season.
So people want to just revel in the blowout of
the Jesus.
Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
Yeah, Kansas City Chiefs. Hey, Kyle, your thoughts giving seven
and a half. It's a big number in the NFL.
I mean, that is a big number in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (01:26:20):
It is anything ever, Yeah, big especially for a division
rivalry game week one. Again, we talked about this in
the College Slate, but very tricky when you have to
deal with big spreads like that in Week one. With
that said, I'm gonna I'm gonna lay this seven and
a half. Something about Dallas is I think they're on
(01:26:41):
the decline here. They have no running game. Javante Williams
is their number one running back.
Speaker 3 (01:26:48):
Who is that?
Speaker 5 (01:26:50):
They got him from Denver, so he was part of
a committee in Denver. It's never been a cow belt back.
Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (01:26:56):
They signed Miles Sanders. We saw who Miles Sanders is
outside of the Eagles organization.
Speaker 3 (01:27:02):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (01:27:03):
They got another receiver in George Pickens. But again, their
passing game has never been an issue. They've always been
good offensively, but now they're taking a step back in
the running game. So I feel like they're gonna be
more one dimensional on offense, which could be a problem.
Speaker 5 (01:27:17):
Ye, and then you lose MICHAEH. Parsons on defense. I
just don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:27:22):
I think this is gonna be closer to like maybe
a ten win Dallas team this year. And again, I
think they're gonna be on the decline here because how
much does Dak need to struggle in the playoffs before,
you know, the Cowboy fans really.
Speaker 5 (01:27:35):
Get Dak fatigue?
Speaker 3 (01:27:37):
All right?
Speaker 4 (01:27:38):
So yeah, give me seven and a half. I know
I'm going down the road here, but give me the
seven and a half with the Birds. Yeah, I'm gonna
take the over forty seven. I think there's gonna be
some points scored. Dallas's defense is not very good. Eagles
at the best defense in football last year, but they
lost a lot of key players.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
There's some at least some questions at this point. Maybe
they'll be fine. But yeah, I'm gonna tak I'm just
gonna go over four seven.
Speaker 4 (01:28:00):
I could see the Eagles getting thirty and then Dallas
getting like twenty, like thirty to twenty something like that.
Speaker 3 (01:28:07):
Get into the fifty range. Mike, you got a thought
on I know you think Eagles win A thought on
the I would lean over.
Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
Yeah, I would lean over. But I think the interesting
thing to me from an Eagles offensive perspective is going
to be is party going to have a big game
coming off that year's coming off of or are is
it going to have to be more on it hurts
a little bit. Yeah, you know, green they just got
Green Bay's run stop for gud, but you know he's
(01:28:35):
only going to be there five days. I'm you know,
I guess these are played. But Dallas usually doesn't stop
the runs very well. I turned in their problems. So
I think if the Eagles come out, the tool is
going to come out and say, okay, you know.
Speaker 5 (01:28:45):
What, stop us.
Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
You know, if you can do what Kansas City did
in the Super Bowl, and then we'll throw the ball
and we'll do what we do. I don't think I
think the Cowboys are going to score some points in
this game. I really do. Maybe not like a big,
big number, but I think they can get to twenty
twenty one, twenty four somewhere in there. And that means
the over probably is a good play, because if you
think the Eagles are gonna win the game, they're probably
(01:29:07):
gonna have to score in the high twenties or low thirties. Yeah,
to win the game. Right.
Speaker 4 (01:29:12):
The biggest issue with the Eagles to me is when
can they get back to the forum they had in
January February. Yeah, where they were not just the best
team in the league, they were killing people.
Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:29:23):
I mean you don't.
Speaker 4 (01:29:25):
You don't see if team put up ninety five points
in the NFC championship game in the Super.
Speaker 3 (01:29:30):
Bowl, very offense.
Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
But I don't want I don't want them to be
that team in September.
Speaker 3 (01:29:34):
No, I understand. That was my point. That was my point.
They were at November.
Speaker 4 (01:29:39):
Yeah, clearly, that's why they don't play anybody in the
exhibition games. They're playing for January and February, which is
how you're supposed to do it.
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
They their first four games, their first four games are tough.
So I mean they go to Kansas City next week
and that would be basically a pick them game, you know.
I mean, whatever, They've got Campa in Game four at Tampa,
which is all never easy. Who's the Week three Kyle.
Speaker 3 (01:30:04):
Rams?
Speaker 2 (01:30:05):
Okay, I don't know about their quarterback, but if the
quarterback's playing, the Rams are going.
Speaker 3 (01:30:09):
To come in here and give them a game.
Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
You would think they need snow.
Speaker 3 (01:30:12):
The Rams need snow. They're not. They're not any good message.
Speaker 2 (01:30:15):
Ye, yeah, but you're not the stupidest thing I ever
saw in my life. I sat there and said it
with snows, the Rams can't win and it's snowed, and
the Rams almost won.
Speaker 3 (01:30:25):
Which shocked played. They played great.
Speaker 5 (01:30:27):
I wasn't.
Speaker 4 (01:30:28):
I was dead wrong about that game. Major credits to
the Rams. They play Africa.
Speaker 3 (01:30:33):
He had. He had a phenomenal game, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:30:35):
The other NFL game before we get the next week's
show Friday night in Brazil, Kansas City minus three over
Justin Herbert and the l A Chargers. Uh, hardball second
year Andy Reid obviously on his way to the Hall
of Fame.
Speaker 3 (01:30:52):
And I don't know when do you get the Eagles job?
Ninety nine? Is that's sound right, Mike?
Speaker 4 (01:30:56):
Yes, he's been a head coach for a quarter century now, Uh,
and it's just racking up one number after another. Did
great with the Eagles, couldn't win the Big Game, has
done even better with Kansas City and has won the
Big Game three times now, thoughts, So I will go
with start with you my Kansas City giving three to
the improved clearly Chargers from year one to year tilf.
Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
I don't know what's going to happen to Kansas City
like from hereing out, I'm assuming if Andy's there, Mahomes
are They've been in five of the last six Super Bowls?
Does anybody comprehend that in a conference where you have
Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen and Borrow and and you've
been there five?
Speaker 3 (01:31:40):
Very impressive.
Speaker 2 (01:31:40):
I mean, it's it's nuts. I think I saw a
stout on var ball. And again you're going to Brazil.
Who the hell knows? You know what hard ball I
think in the NFL is five to zero in opening
games in the five NFL seasons or whatever. But again
it's the Chiefs. Like you bet against the Chiefs at
your own pearl. They've lost. They won seventeen straight one
(01:32:01):
possession games, which is impossible. I'd like Joe Demago's fifty
six game hitties that will end people, will you know?
I think the Chiefs are probably like a twelve win
team this year, but I think they're going to be
a better team than they were last year when it
gets to whatever time, man, I mean, the temptation is
to take the Chargers, but I just don't have faith
(01:32:23):
in Herbert. Man. I just Mahomes versus Herbert is an overmatch.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (01:32:29):
Well, remember that Argers do have Trey Lance as well,
and then John's gonna tell me he should be their
starter by week three, which he might be.
Speaker 3 (01:32:37):
I mean, I.
Speaker 2 (01:32:39):
Check, but check goes back. The Chiefs have strengthened their
offensive line, which was the thing that killed him obviously
last year in the Super Bowl. Andy's not stupid, Mahomes
is Mahomes. I think they're gonna play with a chip
on their shoulders and their tight end just got engaged.
I don't like this game to be engaged. Uh them
(01:33:00):
some singing Barbara. I would not bet this game, but again,
I almost want to take the Chargers, like I said,
but it's the Chiefs, man, and I got beaten the
(01:33:21):
Super Bowl, and I deserve to get beat But man,
they treated me fine, like for like every other kick
before then.
Speaker 4 (01:33:27):
So it's been consistently awesome. Yeah, they I might can
think think about it. If they lost that a Bengals late,
they could have been in six straight Super Bowls, right, so.
Speaker 2 (01:33:39):
They could have bet. They could have lost to the
Burrow the other year too, but then they beat him
at the end of that that they think about this too.
It's it's I think the Chiefs have been sitting there
for six months seven months saying we got our asses kicked,
and they know they got their asses kick and they've
heard people saying that at the end of the dynasty,
and they might be right. Maybe. I just think that
(01:34:00):
they're going to play and I think they're gonna They're
not going fifteen and one again, that ain't happening, probably not,
But man, I just see them going down in this game.
And I think Hardboy goes down there the same way
he wants to prove something. He wants to prove that,
you know, he can win that division or somebody else
can win that division. And it should be a really
good game.
Speaker 3 (01:34:20):
But it's in Brazil.
Speaker 2 (01:34:21):
We saw what happened last year the Eagles Packers. Yeah,
that wasn't the Eagles or the Packers.
Speaker 4 (01:34:25):
I mean, you know, here's my problem with Harball. I
think he's playing chrow Magne in football and an era.
Speaker 3 (01:34:33):
You got you got to score thirty to win, Yeah,
to beat like a real serious squad. I think Kansas City.
Speaker 4 (01:34:39):
Is going to smash them. Uh, certainly cover. I mean
they never beat anybody by a lot. Their defense is
really solid. That wasn't their problem in the Super Bowl.
As Mike Is pointed out, Their problem was they couldn't
keep the Eagles out of the backfield, and my hooves
got just annihilated.
Speaker 2 (01:34:56):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
They look, if Eagles had kept their starters and they
would have had a shut they would have never scored.
Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
And when they lost the Bucks, when they lost to
the Bucks, that you're the bus because of Tom Brady.
They lost. The running back went nuts and the Bucks
defense was in the backfield the whole game.
Speaker 3 (01:35:12):
Yeah, it doesn't matter who you are. If you have
no time to throw, you you got no shots.
Speaker 2 (01:35:16):
As great as I got thet I got the bet.
Here's the bet guy. You got to look. I've taken
Kelsey to score.
Speaker 5 (01:35:24):
A touchdown, O Kelsey, Kelsey to score and.
Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
Maybe too, but take him to win. To score, he's
got to score a touchdown, doesn't he?
Speaker 4 (01:35:34):
He doesn't are Do we have any obvious been invited
to the wedding by.
Speaker 5 (01:35:38):
The way, Yeah, I'm doing.
Speaker 3 (01:35:41):
Though where is it? Do we know the answer to that?
Speaker 2 (01:35:44):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:35:45):
It's Taylor's.
Speaker 3 (01:35:46):
Have you gotten your invite yet?
Speaker 2 (01:35:49):
I think they're holding it up in Northeast Philly.
Speaker 5 (01:35:51):
I think it's going to be like it's in your
mailbox right now.
Speaker 3 (01:35:54):
You're bet here at the bed parts sports book that
would be actually.
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
Is a great idea. I was thinking about this the
other day. Yeah. Yeah, the only thing that I think
equates a little bit to this, not quite on the
same level. Back in the fifties to Joe DiMaggio married
Marilyn Monroe. Now, Joe were a little bit, I mean,
Taylor swifts a pretty high level.
Speaker 3 (01:36:16):
Right, She's Joe Joe bigger than Travis Kelsey.
Speaker 6 (01:36:20):
Joe.
Speaker 2 (01:36:20):
Yes, yes, Joe was an American icon. But again, they
got married. I think the marriage last. Look, I hope
that Jake Kelsey and her stay married for fifty years
and have thirty kids and all that kind of stuff.
But again, that's the only thing. Can you think of
any other thing that I'm missing?
Speaker 5 (01:36:35):
Like, it's just a big time plus one thirty two
for Travis to score.
Speaker 3 (01:36:40):
I'm on that, Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:36:42):
How about two touches? How about two.
Speaker 5 (01:36:43):
Touchdow two tuddies?
Speaker 8 (01:36:45):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:36:47):
Now, now you're making me work a.
Speaker 3 (01:36:49):
Little bit, Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
No, No, that's I take take plus one thirty two.
Speaker 5 (01:36:54):
Plus ten to fifty said.
Speaker 3 (01:36:56):
Plus one thousand for two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
Oh, I would throw a little good on that too.
Speaker 4 (01:37:01):
Yeah, there you go, all right, Mike, uh, we have
a few minutes left. The Ryder Cup team was selected. Yeah, yes,
our man Tommy Fleetwood fully finally won a tournament and
picked the right one to win.
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
Tremendous for him, I thought, so good for him.
Speaker 3 (01:37:16):
Yeah, that was great.
Speaker 4 (01:37:17):
We'll see him again at beth Page when he's on
the European team. What are your thoughts on the captain's
picks and the captain not picking himself.
Speaker 2 (01:37:26):
I and some of the guys you said that Cam
cam Young made the team because he played well.
Speaker 3 (01:37:33):
And placed that course. Well, it's his home course.
Speaker 2 (01:37:35):
Yes, And here's why I was a little surprised. I
think if Kingdon wasn't the captain, he'd be on the team,
no doubt. Now, I understand that maybe he just felt
in his mind, hey, maybe it would look bad if
he picked himself. I'm sure he took probably talk to
people about it, and I think he probably did the
right thing. So I think for the American team, he
(01:37:57):
definitely deserved to be one of the twelve players, especially
after getting snubbed two years ago. But okay, he did
the right thing. I think the guys that made the team,
there wasn't too many surprises, you know, it was. We
knew Cantlet was going to be on the team and
he played really well. We knew that more Collin was
on the team, Justin Thomas and I was Cam Young.
I'm trying to remember the other two guys, but they
(01:38:19):
and there was a couple of guys that didn't make
it that it could have been. There's always a couple
of guys that don't make it. They could have been.
Like I think he did the right thing. Yeah, I'm
not sure, because he probably figured that he was gonna
have so much to do that week and having him
being a player was going to be a distraction. We
know what now, it's not a distraction. Now he's gonna
go out and play golf. He's gonna sit on the
side and do what he does. So I think he
(01:38:40):
made the right move. But me personally, I wanted to
see him play because I thought he deserved to be
on it. He's got more wins than anybody in the
last year and a half than Scottie Scheffler, which to
me says something. But I think he did the right thing.
So and that's why I think he did.
Speaker 3 (01:38:57):
It, and good for him and the writer up Mike
is when I think it's.
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
The end of the last weekend in September, September eight.
Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
Very nice.
Speaker 2 (01:39:08):
Yeah, that sounds right. Yeah, and it's it'll be a zoo.
Speaker 3 (01:39:12):
Yeahs on island best page Flack. It'll be a scene.
And you've been I'm telling you right now. Of course
you've been there, right.
Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
Several several I played at once. Of course I will
tell you just right right now. Take the US. I
think it's minus one thirty. They've played well on US soil,
they just don't play well over there.
Speaker 3 (01:39:35):
They stay.
Speaker 2 (01:39:36):
I think the US wins this. I think the New
York crowd goes nuting, and you know, minus one I
think they were. When I looked at it was like
minus one third.
Speaker 4 (01:39:46):
Give us the star of the US team beyond the
obvious guy, one other player beyond chef is going.
Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
To show a great question.
Speaker 3 (01:39:53):
Did put a big number up for the US event.
Speaker 2 (01:39:56):
I'll give you a little bit maybe of a surprise.
Can't Patrick can't Lay and Justin Thomas both of their
records that Justin didn't play real well last because he
should have. Patrick Can'tley I think is six three and
one in matches. Uh, he's a he's a wild card pick,
so that you know that means people, Yeah, he wasn't
one of the top six guys trying to think of
(01:40:18):
the six qualifiers because Sheffler was won. Seawf Lee also
has a pretty good record. He hasn't been playing quite
as well as But I'll give you Patrick Can'tley. I'll
just I'll just throw him in that though.
Speaker 4 (01:40:31):
Okay, And you know what is can't Lay mostly there
just to irritate the other team because he takes five minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:40:38):
That part of it, yes, but the album was but
the problem was two years ago he irritated them into
beating them like nineteen to eleven. So you know there
is that, But that won't happen at that page because
at that page, and I'm telling you what, I think
Tommy Sleetwood is going to play. Rory always plays well
in this stuff. I think Tommy Fleetwood is going to
(01:40:59):
have a nice week. I really do, because I think
now the pressure is off whatever, you know, and now
he might just go out and play a little golf.
Speaker 3 (01:41:08):
Yep. So Ben Griffin is one of the captain's picks
you were mentioning. He's been playing well at CAM.
Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
I think I think the US Dick has four Ryder
Cup rookies, and that's always because you never know what
they're going to do. You know, they could go out
there and gag, they could go out there and play well.
There's there are many many players, good players that are
really really good players have said there's no feeling like
stepping on the first tee at the Ryder Cup. They're
(01:41:37):
more scared there than they were in the US Open,
a Master's. It's just a different thing, for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:41:43):
It's like it's like a football game playing golf. People
are crazed.
Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
There. It's their Olympics.
Speaker 3 (01:41:52):
Yeah, I mean that's kind of what it is. Pat
should see.
Speaker 4 (01:41:55):
Kyle just mentioned like if you said at the beginning
of the year, JJ Small is going to be on
the Ryder Cup team.
Speaker 3 (01:42:01):
Not only on the team, but it's the top six.
Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
You know what. But I would have said Who's I
would have said, who's J J.
Speaker 3 (01:42:07):
Spong exactly. That's when he had a great running the
FedEx cop.
Speaker 2 (01:42:13):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:42:13):
Yeah, I mean, and you know he's a rookie, right,
he is not playing it this one.
Speaker 5 (01:42:17):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (01:42:18):
No, but no, he's And again you're going to get
people over here like, yeah, we all know the name.
I mean, Rory Fleetwood. I'm trying to think of some
of the others and I'm just not coming to my mind.
But oh yeah, rom and he's got something to prove.
Speaker 3 (01:42:37):
Absolutely Rose, by the way.
Speaker 2 (01:42:43):
No, they do that in a couple of days. They
do that, I think in a couple of days. Justin
Rose is wonderful in this format. He always plays. Well.
Speaker 5 (01:42:52):
Where where's Mike Current playing today?
Speaker 2 (01:42:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:42:55):
Where are you?
Speaker 2 (01:42:57):
I'm going to be gone after this to the Legends,
go out on Highway five oh one. And later this week, Kyle,
we are playing the Dunes, which is probably the best
course in Myrtle Beach.
Speaker 5 (01:43:08):
The Dunes or the Grand Dudes.
Speaker 2 (01:43:11):
No, no, no, Grand Dunes is very good. Also, don't
get me wrong, the dudes playing the Dudes the Dunes,
And they knew I was coming. They said, you know,
Mike's here, so you know, we gotta it might rain today.
It looks it's actually getting cloudy down here, so I
don't know, no rain, we.
Speaker 3 (01:43:28):
Can't have that. You're gonna go to Atlanta tomorrow to
see the home team. It's the Dame Cop Are you
going down there?
Speaker 2 (01:43:34):
I'm telling you, I do not like John's Virginia Tech
picking that at all terrible?
Speaker 3 (01:43:43):
Yeah, this is an outrage.
Speaker 5 (01:43:44):
I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 2 (01:43:45):
I'm telling you if you can make the bet over
under like four touchdowns that that quarterback accounts for in
this game, I'm just down here running and throwing and whatever.
He's a dark horse Heisman kind of guy.
Speaker 3 (01:43:58):
Why do we not do we know his name?
Speaker 2 (01:44:02):
His name?
Speaker 3 (01:44:04):
Too many guys, too many players can't keep.
Speaker 2 (01:44:06):
Up real quick before we do. You think that the
Penn State quarterback can be a legit? I've heard so
many varying opinions on him. I know Penn State's gonna
be good this year. They're gonna win a lot of games.
Which is can Is he really like a potentially two
or three pick in the draft.
Speaker 3 (01:44:23):
And I'm not saying I tell you, I'll tell you
who I am sold on. I love the Nebraska quarterback man.
Speaker 4 (01:44:31):
That kid looked great the other day DeLand Reola just
he looked like an NFL quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
I'm going, whoa, my man, Matt wool got it, got
it right, he did that.
Speaker 3 (01:44:41):
That kid is a hell of a player.
Speaker 2 (01:44:43):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:44:43):
For just his first game of his sophomore year, poised
stood tall in the pocket, great delivery, great ball.
Speaker 3 (01:44:51):
That kid is a flat out How much how much? Yeah?
How much did he cost?
Speaker 2 (01:44:58):
What did they pay? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:45:00):
And he wears Mahomes number. He looks like he is
the Mahomes haircut.
Speaker 5 (01:45:04):
Yeah, he looks like And they won.
Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
An arrow head the other night.
Speaker 2 (01:45:07):
So I am convinced in football anymore, maybe college even more.
It's almost impossible to win big without a great quarterback. Yeah,
you can do it. I mean you can have a
team where where maybe the quarterback ain't all that Oh
my god, all these good teams you look around the country,
they all have like these quarterbacks that are just plug has.
Speaker 4 (01:45:28):
Got a quarterback, a quarterback that hold that thought, get
the hell out on highway whatever it is to the legends,
of course, because we.
Speaker 5 (01:45:38):
Mike Current's gone hit him straight.
Speaker 3 (01:45:40):
College football Week one among the games Texas and Ohio State,
Clemson hosting LSU tomorrow, Notre Dame visiting Miami. The pro
