That's what I want. Well, that's why I was gone.

had like basically YouTube TV and ESPs.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yeah, we came to a mutual agreement. I'm like them.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
And that other voice you hear is Mike Current and
joining us on the phone in the everywhere portion of
the program is Dick Girardi.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Dick Girardi, where are you today?
Speaker 4 (01:27):
I am in west Haven, Connecticut, outside of the Jeffrey P.
Hazel Athletic Center. And you're saying, what in the world
am I doing here?
Speaker 5 (01:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:36):
What in the well?
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Penn State? Yeah, Penn State plays the University of new
Haven at one o'clock. The University of New Haven is
a new Division one school. They played two games. They
wanted to help christen the new era. And you're still saying, oh,
why would Penn State come here? Because their athletic director,
Patcraft is good friends with the ad here at u
n H. And he said, look, any chance you'll come here,
(01:58):
and if you do, we'll a three times at your
place the next three years and you don't have to
pass to show up. That's why I pass. Stated here.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Done.
Speaker 7 (02:08):
Hey, you know what, Dick, are you in new Are
you technically in like new.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Haven or next to new Haven?
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Or yeah it's west Haven? Yeah, I got off before
you actually get the New Haven where Gale is. But yeah,
it's literally Mike, it's like five minutes off at ninety
great Peacha.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Say, is any pizza now, there's a great pizza joint
in two of them. Oh yeah, the pizzas right, Yeah,
I've been to yes, and there's another one.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Easy drive two and a half hours.
Speaker 7 (02:42):
But we gotta let the viewers listeners, not viewers listeners.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
Well, I guess they could be viewers.
Speaker 7 (02:47):
Mister Girardi was inducted on Thursday night into the Philadelphia
Sports Hall of Fame and a lot of Daily News
people were there and it was a wonderful and he
gave a great speech and it was a wonderful night.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
So congratulations, congratulations.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
I love that. I know we were in the presence
of greatness.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah, thanks, thanks guys, So yeah, I appreciate that, Mike.
So yeah, it was cool that, you know, had some
family members there, some friends at my table, and then
there was a whole Daily News table with Mike and
Pat mcclu and Eddie Barkowitz, Bob Cooney, bernarfordet As, Rich
Hoffman and Eddie's sister whose name is escaping, Jen Jen
(03:30):
and Dana O'Neill. Sorry, Dan O'Neill, some former DN people,
and all of us are now I guess all of
us are now formal d N people, right that were there,
so yeah, and a whole table of Parks people were there,
So it was it was a great night. I mean,
Gary Williams was honored the Maryland coaches from College Wood,
(03:50):
New Jersey, and you know, it was funny. Bullanov's nineteen
eighty five team was honored that they were the last
ones was sticking this on the way up, like maybe
in a couple of years they can hire the entire
Daily News sports squad. Because we had a squad. As
a squad, I think, yeah, I hopefully, hopefully Ed Pinckney's
(04:10):
already in this thing. I don't really know who's in
or who is it, but I, as an individual, the
best player from that that squad.
Speaker 7 (04:17):
PAT wanted to get Ted Selary, who was our great
high school writer, I mean, might have done his craft
better than anyone, which is saying something because we had
like Phil.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Jasner and Bill Conlin and on and on and on
and on.
Speaker 7 (04:30):
But the person that should be in Dick is Mike Raffitt,
the man who hired you, I guess hired me, and
yet for like two decades, I want to say, was
basically the I mean, the Inquired had some wonderful editors too.
I'm not trying to put them down, but Mike understood
what sports were.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
And how to write a bed. His one rule to
all of us was just write good stories. Just go right.
And we did.
Speaker 7 (04:56):
Let you, as Dick says, let your players play, and
we did. But Mike's be in there. I really believe
that maybe Pat too.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Hopefully with him. Yeah hopefully that yeah, hopefully that will happen.
And it was funny when yeah, that's what I talked
about Thursday night, guys. When when I got the call,
it was actually April first, which was forty years to
the day, wow, that the Old Garden State Park opened,
and that's the reason I got the job at the
(05:24):
paper to cover the racetrack. And of course it was
the same night that Villanova pete Georgetown and the Villanova
team was being honored, so I kind of framed my
speech around all that, but just the irony of it
that thirty one years after that night and Mike and
I were sitting in a football stadium in Houston seeing
Villanova win their next time with the Chris Jenkins shot.
(05:45):
So and yeah, I just talked about all the full
circle moments that had happened, but mostly it was just
to me. It was just a tribute to our staff
and all the great writers and editors and people that
were on it.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
You and I wonderful year in twenty sixteen.
Speaker 7 (05:59):
You and I I might have had the best view,
or we were among the group of people that had
the best because we were sitting on the scar and
I was right behind it. I had written my story.
You were You were saying, please, don't like hit the shot,
please hit the shot, and we saw it.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
I mean, like you said, it was. It was good.
The only guard it was was it going to hit
a rim? It If it didn't hit a rim, it.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Was in right. And in the talk, I sang Chris
Jackins for not only making the most famous shot in
college basketball history, but for saving my Dollanovo wins the
National Championship column, which was looking like I was going
to have to blow it up after Page hit that
tree shot. Yeah, I'm going please, I would have had
(06:41):
no shot.
Speaker 7 (06:43):
The paget was the Kentucky Dude game in ninety two,
which I had the privilege to cover Kentucky hitting insane
shot before later shot.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
Who was it? It was the guard, right, Dick the
point guard?
Speaker 7 (06:56):
Yeah, Woods Woods right, and he dish and we're thinking, well,
that's it. You know, Kentucky's going to win, and Rick
decides not to guard the inbound guy, Grant Hill. But
you know whatever, And like you said, the North Carolina
shot and North Carolina hit two threes late. They made
I think ten in that game, Dick was it. And
they didn't shoot threes, right, they.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Were terrible from three? Yeah, they wanted them to shoot threes.
They were a terrible three point shooting team. Yeah, I
mean don't.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
I'm I had the game one, yes.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
And at some point when you're doing this, when you're
on a deadline, you got to make a decision. And
I decided that they had the game one, and I
wrote accordingly, And they did have the game one until
they missed the free throws and a few turnovers, and
I'm going, yo, I'm in trouble. I could be in
trouble here. So thank you, Chris Chickens. But yeah, I
mean there's stories that are endless. It was just it
(07:46):
was just a phenomenal night. On Thursday. I was thrilled
that Mike could be there and all of our guys.
It was just to share it with them and literally
everybody on our staff. And I said this, you know,
it was for all of us. It just happened to
be mine name, But I mean it literally could be
any on us or all of us. We were all
part of it. But we always thought it was one
of the great sports staffs in the history of the
(08:07):
history of newspapers.
Speaker 7 (08:09):
Yeah, and other people thought that too. That was it
wasn't us thinking that about us?
Speaker 5 (08:14):
I thought was we never thought that. We never. I
don't think any of us say I did. While we
were really.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Good, I thought that I thought we were good. I mean,
there were there were some people in there that were
beyond belief. Look I looked. I learned how to write
by reading the other guys of our day. They were
so good. It was just phenomenal seeing how they did it,
and they go, oh, that's how you can do this thing. Anyway,
But thank you, thank you for that, Mike. But yeah,
a lot going on. We got college football, We get
the NFL Tomor Eagles on Monday night, Sixers tonight with
(08:43):
the Raptors uh six Ers tied with the Knicks or
fifth in the East at five and three. The Raptors
are five and four NHL. How about the Flyers guys eight,
five and one seventeen points. They played the Sims at
one pm in South Philly today, So we had the changeover.
World series did end last Saturday. Dodgers win great, one
(09:04):
of the great World Series ever. And college basketball has commenced.
And we have Drexel, Saint Joseph and Mama Lassell and
Queens and who can who can tell me where Queen's is?
Anybody they play at dollan Over?
Speaker 5 (09:17):
I mean Queen's College, Charlotte, Queen.
Speaker 7 (09:20):
I would guess from Queens, New York, but am I
I'm probably.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Wrong North Carolina, North Carolin.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
John got Queen Queens City, Charlotte that.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
They're in the Yeah, they're in the Atlantic Sun. Yeah,
they're they're at Falling Over the day. Getting nineteen.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Son bo Jangles would be nice, right now, that'd be great. Yeah,
bo Jackons, bo Jangles in New Haven.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Vickjarardi, No, you know, I never I never even got
the New Haven. John, I got the West Haven. Come on, John,
I'm actually yeah, I'm actually but you'll love this. I'm
back here in two weeks. I got uh I at
Mohigan's Sun That State's playing Providence and then next Saturday
Wells Fargo Center, Penn stateless out. So I'll do the
(10:04):
show and then drive down ninety five. What could be
better than.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
That Exfinity movement?
Speaker 7 (10:12):
It don't start you two and a half hours to
get There's pretty good, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Yeah? I mean I left at six, so you know
there was no traffic. I never slowed down, you know,
over the at one point, you love this my GPS,
No GPS tells me is I'm getting ready to head
to the George Washington, Britises go through the Lake of
pol I said, I'm not doing that. It takes me
in the Manhattan. It's crazy. That makes makes sense.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
You know, appreciated you a minute, that's what That's what
g Yeah, I ignored.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
I said, I do not need to be trying to
drive through Manhattan. Nothing, nothing good could happen at least truly.
Speaker 7 (10:51):
Is there any way, Dick, Is there any way of
taking a train up to there? Or is it just
as easy as just driving?
Speaker 4 (10:56):
There might be but I wasn't involved in it. I
just yeah, it's just seem seem Let's let's start with
some college football, boys. What's the latest cow Indiana at
Penn State. That's the big Fox game.
Speaker 6 (11:08):
It is two touchdowns minus fourteen. That's it, minus fourteen
minus fourteen.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Right?
Speaker 7 (11:17):
Uh, boys, you know to one team that's played, Uh,
Indiana tough other than obvious Iowa and nobody, like everybody
still thinks Iowa is the team that scores two points
a game.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
They're actually.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Oregon.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
They've clearly been better. Penn State on a five game
losing streak. Uh, we're competitive in the first four. I mean, yeah,
we're not particularly competitive last week didn't get crushed at
the last state, but never really looked like they have
the chance to win either. Johnny, want we start with you?
The Hoosiers are killing everybody? What do we think?
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Yeah, and I think it's gonna happen to Penn State
as well. I mean it's at home, and Indiana has
bigger games left and you know, bigger things ahead, so
maybe they look ahead, look at But yeah, Signetti is
probably gonna want to put up fifty. He wants to
do it against everyone. He wants to make a statement win.
He wants to put up a bunch of points. He
wants style points or whenever. You know, the College Football
(12:18):
Playoff Committee has.
Speaker 7 (12:19):
To do even play Penn State last year? Did they
I don't think so. I don't think they did.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
No.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah, I just Penn State's offense is terrible. I just
don't see them keeping up in any way with Indiana
not happening.
Speaker 7 (12:32):
Mike, Well, yeah, I mean I guess I would say
I don't know how much the Penn State defense can
hold Indiana down, Like, can they hold him the twenty eight?
Speaker 3 (12:42):
I mean, I don't know that even still be enough
to cover.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (12:45):
Well that's the problem to me, Like, and I say
this every week, but there's there's there's no way I
can bet the Penn State side of this game. If
you don't want to bet the Indiana side, I understand,
But my god, Signetti's just like you know we've said
this before. He's spurrier, he you know, he he he
wants the final score this game to be fifty. And see,
I don't it doesn't make a difference to me if
(13:06):
Ohio State or Indiana or one and two. I think
Ohio State should be won because they're the defending national champs.
I understand their resume is not as good as Indiana's. Hell,
Indiana's resume is not as good as Texas A and M's.
But that's okay. We can all you know, you're going
to get to play them in the Big Ten title
game in all likelihood, and then we'll find out who's
the better team. But I don't think Signetty sees it
(13:27):
like that. I think he just sees it like, you know,
we're going to grab what what did they do last week?
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Didn't they have? Like an, they didn't have a great
week last week?
Speaker 4 (13:34):
Did they?
Speaker 3 (13:34):
I'm trying to Maryland.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
They did. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (13:39):
The last two games they've outscored their opponents, won eleven
to six.
Speaker 7 (13:42):
I mean, I gotta play Indiana. I mean, if you're
putting he's telling me I got to take a side.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
I'm taking Indiana.
Speaker 7 (13:48):
I think that line should be closer to three touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Yeah, I'm with you, Mike, Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
Yeah, Mike, Mike just alluded to what I was gonna say.
I'm surprised this is only fourteen. I think it should
be closer to you know, a three three score points.
Spread like seventeen to twenty.
Speaker 5 (14:04):
Am I take Indiana if it was twenty one.
Speaker 6 (14:06):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with Indiana here. I'm also gonna
go with the over fifty because Indiana, it just puts it.
They never slow down in these games. I don't think
Penn State's gonna be able to hold them. If Penn
State gets any points on the board, getting double digits,
I think there's a good chance.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
That hits over Indiana get over by itself.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
They they've happened, They've proven it. Yeah, they've proven to
do it the last two weeks. Yeah, the last two weeks.
Speaker 7 (14:28):
It's the only team that really I'm trying to guess,
like over the last couple of decades, and I know
Penn State had a bad teams. There were a couple
of bad teams in early two that the only team
that really puts a big number on Penn State usually
the Ohio State, Right, I mean Indiana could put a
number up today.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
It could be like semi historical at Beaver.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Yeah. Here, look that Indiana is crushing everybody. That's why
I took them last week again. Now they're taking no prisoners.
They're trying to get as high as they could get
into rankings, they can't get much higher than they are
already right two, so they they're remaining Big ten opponents
have a combined zero conference wins at this point, so
(15:08):
I thought John made the most salient point. Penn State's
offense is drift, yeah, yeah, and Indiana can score on anybody,
and Indiana's defense is really good. I'm shocked this is
only fourteen. I mean, I know it's a Beaver Stadium,
but I don't care who you are. If you're a
Penn State player at this point, and even the coaching staff,
(15:29):
you have to be discouraged.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
You can't be and every week it feels why though,
we would be beyond the point where just the name
Penn State, you know, gets you some brownie points in
the spread.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Dick.
Speaker 7 (15:40):
Let me ask you a question because I asked these
guys when we were out here. If Penn State had
won the Oregon game, okay, you know, let they figure
out a way to win. And I'm assuming now Alur
doesn't get hurt and isn't going for the year, but
I think they would they could still be like them.
I don't think they would have been ot have State,
so they probably would had the one lef. But could
we be saying that it made the new organ game
(16:01):
just shifted everything like they just it took something away
from them.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
I think that's fairly obvious by how they played. But
having said that, might I think if you've got to
put it all in a broader context, they never played
good this whole season.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Three three bad teams they played early didn't well, yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
It was like, okay, this this squad, this squad is
like really good. It's like, well, no, actually, you know,
the reality is they aren't they good.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
You said that, I remember you said that a couple
of times early on. You said, I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 5 (16:37):
If this team.
Speaker 7 (16:38):
I wasn't sold on the quarterback, but I still figured, right,
they could lose. We could lose to Ohio State and
they were the only two I figured sure they could lose.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
Yep, yep. That's it's strange. So yeah, the answer to
that question is you'll never know. You would think, you know,
obviously that was very discouraging for a variety of reasons,
because they planned everything around that game, and then not
only that they lost, but how they lost. Yeah, I
mean they were totally outplayed and then they'd come back,
and there was there was actually a key call in
(17:09):
that game that people kind of forget. There was a
fumble that Oregon had they were up ten three like
as they were going into score yea, and they overruled it.
And I've still never figured out why they overruled it,
And that gave Oregon seventeen to three, gave him a cushion,
you know, that they obviously needed in overtime. But again,
I think the bottom line was Penn State was never
(17:30):
as good as the hype.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Yeah, And it's funny that Mike Kerrn says that, like
Penn State, really the only one that would beat them
pretty good was Ohio State, and it's usually yeah, and
it's it's so funny how Kurt Signetti like that was
it like Penn State just had to beat o High State.
Penn State was in the upper echelon of the Big
ten but couldn't quite get over it. And it's so
funny looking now on the other side of this at
(17:53):
Indiana and how easily they were able to do it.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
I don't know if they could beat Ohio State, but
how easily they were able to just pass Penn State
by ship Like at the top of Big Ten and.
Speaker 7 (18:04):
Like, yeah, it was that was that was the key.
They went to Oregon in one. But I'm gonna tell
you something right now. If they play Ohio State in
the Big Ten title game and they're both unbeaten and
that game at Dick, Indy, is that in Annapolis? Okay,
I'm gonna tell you right now, I don't think the
High State's gonna be favored by more in a field goal.
Speaker 5 (18:24):
And I may be right Indiana's because.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Yeah, let's see how it plays out. I mean, look,
if they they got to me, the two best wins
of the year are A and M at Notre Dame
in Indiana in Oregon, right, I mean, aren't they the
two bests? Does anybody have anything better than that? No?
They're top ten opponents on the road. Yeah, it's pretty impressive.
So yeah, I mean, why can't Indiana win? Yeah? I don't.
(18:49):
I can't come up with a reason why they can't win.
They were physically.
Speaker 6 (18:53):
I think you gotta throw East Carolina over Temple in
that one too.
Speaker 7 (18:55):
If they're playing, if they're playing in Indy, I I
don't know how the tickets get distributed. I but my god,
that place is going to have to be half Indie, right,
and those people. Now I'm sure Ohio State's going to
show up. Because they show up, that would be some.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
It might gets a pretty quick drive when I seven
all right, yeah, absolutely, I've made it. Trust I'll tell
you what take long.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
I know that's not a playoff game.
Speaker 7 (19:23):
I mean, I know both those teams could be even
top four seeds even.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
Regardless of what happens.
Speaker 7 (19:27):
Again, I want to see that game, and I don't
look forward to a whole lot of college games before
the playoffs start.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
That's what I want to see here.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
If the reality is this, If it's that game and
they're both undefeated, and unless one of the teams gets hammered,
they're both going to be top four seeds. I would
think that's the reality, right, I would.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
Have to think the very worst, at the very least
change that.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
Ye, at the very least, the loser will get a
home game. Yeah, at the very least.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
That's that's that's the worst gonna happen. Right, There are
a significant Big ten game today all of a sudden,
Oregon and Mike mentioned before at Iowa.
Speaker 6 (20:05):
What do we have there, Kyle, uh I just saw
it before seven I think I said, yeah, seven for Oregon.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
Oregon minus seven at Iowa. Mike, let's start with you
on this.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
What do you think it's for.
Speaker 7 (20:16):
Look, it's one of those games and you got to
readjust your thinking as you go along.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
It's one of those games.
Speaker 7 (20:21):
At first glance you're like, that's too low, but again.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
You know what it's like to play a kiddick.
Speaker 7 (20:28):
I was good, and I think they've just flown under
the radar because they're Isoland, you know, you know, just
score three points a game in August.
Speaker 5 (20:36):
I'm going to take the Hawkeys. I think this and
is it a noon game.
Speaker 7 (20:40):
Kyle, okay, thirty but okay, game West Coast, I'm gonna take.
I think whatever they've done to this team to get
rid of his son or whatever, and we know the
head coach can coach, you know, he's been there for
thirty years or whatever.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
I think that's a This is a tough spot for Oregon.
Speaker 7 (20:57):
I really do. And I still think Oregon is playoff
worthy and all that. But you know, if they lose
this game, who knows, I mean, they'd probably you know,
they might be thinking about it on selection Sunday.
Speaker 6 (21:14):
Yeah, I'm going to ride what Mike Kerrn just said.
Everybody thinks of Iowa as being a good defensive team
that can't score.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
Well.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
This year, they are scoring. I think they're flying under
the radar a little bit. I'm not gonna say they're
going to win the game, but I like them to
cover the seven here at home.
Speaker 7 (21:28):
I love Dan Henny, I love the coach at Oregon,
but I think it's a tough spot. And this time
of the year, Dick, this time of the year, I
was just caution every every week, though, there's going to
be one or two teams that you are sitting at
number eight or number whatever, just.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Getting a little bit, getting a little bit smaller, and.
Speaker 7 (21:47):
That's why the whole thing gets discombobulated, you know.
Speaker 5 (21:50):
At the end of.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
November, Yeah, for sure. And there's a weather issue apparently
in Island.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
All right, wait, what is snowing? Though?
Speaker 4 (22:03):
Yeah, all saw was from their Sports you Information department
to get there early because there's a weather problem and
it may take longer to get in. I don't know
what that means, but it doesn't sound like it's going
to be sunning at eight.
Speaker 7 (22:15):
There's a there's a cold front coming across because We're
going to get really cold here Monday and Tuesday, and
I'm going to be I got to go out there
to help a friend out with something to Dallas, and
it's going to be like forty degrees in Dallas on Monday.
So whatever's coming up, and I guess, I don't know.
I guess that could mean snow or howling.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Monday night in Green Bay is not going to be
too pleasant.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
So we got we got two. We got two. Iowas
plus seven. John, Did I hear you make a picture?
Speaker 2 (22:44):
I have thinking about, Yeah, yeah, this is this is
just a really tough one. I mean, when you get
to these kind of games, you have to throw the ball.
And Gronakowski can't four touchdowns for perceptions, only nine hundred
and forty six total yards passing.
Speaker 5 (22:57):
Can I change my pick?
Speaker 2 (22:58):
But they can run. They can run so well, and
that's what gron of Cowski gives him. He's a really
good runner too. So it's just that is that gonna
come into play where they're gonna have to make a
big play in the passing game or they're gonna have
to maybe keep up with the Oregon. But I I
kind of agree with Mike that like this Iowa team
is pesky, and this is getting to that time of
year where you don't want to play a team like
Iowa because you lose to a team like Iowa.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
I'm gonna go I hate picking Iowa.
Speaker 7 (23:21):
Yes, I mean paining me to do this, but it's
just like at this time of the year, you really
have to take a serious looking under doors.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
Who would have thought that we're going into Dick Girardi's pick,
that we could be going full panel Iowa.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Pain that doesn't have a thousand here's a few.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
More games today.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
Yeah, no way, I'm taking Iowa.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Good, good, good. We didn't want to go full panel Iowa.
That's discussing win.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
For a second. Yeah, let's think about this for a second.
So Iowa quarterback John just said he can't throw.
Speaker 5 (23:55):
He stinks.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
Here's here's Iowa's chance, right, Obviously it's a great home
field advantage. They're gonna try to just run and hold
the ball for forty minutes, kind of do what Penn
State did to Oregon and the Big Ten Championship game.
Defense wasn't good enough to keep them out of the thing.
If they can't do that, and if I'm Oregon, I
got eleven guys in the line of scripts to make
sure they can't do that. There's no way they could
score with Oregon Oregon minus seven. They're gonna they're gonna win. Change.
Speaker 7 (24:21):
Hey, you know what you are a game like this
deck Iowa fast the lead, Iowa cannot be down like ten.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Half or they can't be in pressing situations.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
Yes, correct, Absolutely a great noon game. The game of
the day really on ABC. Texas Tech at home with
their quarterback now healthy and playing beautifully. Uh giving I
see ten ten and a half Kyle against brig up
Young which is eight?
Speaker 3 (24:53):
It is twelve and a half.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
Now twelve and a half now? Whoa So Texas Tech,
as we talked about when before the season ever started
as the best team money can buy, and they have
bought a great team. Their only loss was when their
quarterback was hurt. He didn't play at Arizona State BYU's
having all of a year. I mean, they're they're eight.
No's legit, They're a very very good team. Kyle, let's
(25:16):
start with you. Is a big number. Texas Tech. Probably
the biggest game in Texas Tech football history. Home game,
maybe the biggest game ever. I would think.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Yeah, Well, there was one that was bigger was the
Texas A We people have been talking about a lot
the Texas Tech Texas game back in two thousand and
eight with Graham Harrel and Michael Crabtree against Michael Krabcheck.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
What a game you gotta Kyle.
Speaker 6 (25:43):
Yeah, I think I'm going to fall into the money
that seems to be coming in on Texas Tech. Now
that's twelve and a half with their quarterback back, I'm
going to ride Texas Tech over BYU.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
I don't love it.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
I probably would stay away from it, but I'm I'm
kind of scared of the number, but I'm gonna I'm
gonna lean towards Texas.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Tech at home minus twelve and a half.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
To me, this is my favorite game of the day,
and I love BYU. I think they're really really good.
I think Texas Tech might be they might be the
best team in the country. I can't say that for
sure because they just haven't played anybody, but man, when
you watch them play with the quarterback now healthy, their
defense is phenomenal. They have the best rush defense in
(26:26):
the country. And again they went out and spent a
boatload of money. I like Texas Tech big and this
GID so this.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Two point spread movement doesn't worry you at.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
All, doesn't bother me. Now, I think they're gonna win
by three touchdowns. And again I'm a BYU fan. I
just think Texas Tech is that good to me that
there's four teams that have separated obviously the top three
A m I was State in Indiana, and I think
Texas Tech is right with them. I discount the Arizona
State game because the quarterback didn't play Mike.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (26:58):
I hate in games like this, like the obvious pick
is b YU because they're getting it doesn't and yeah,
and they're you know, so just to be different, I
agree with everything you said. To be different, I'll take
b YU just so because John's probably going to be
smart and take Texas Tech. But I would just tell
everybody this could very well be a rematch in the
Big Twelve title game. I mean, I don't know exactly
(27:19):
how to standings sit right now, but you know, somebody
was saying, now, I think the game is more important
to Texas Tech because they lost in Arizona State. Because
if they lose this game, there's a chance they might
not get in the Big Twelve. Title game the b
YU because that would they be two behind b YU
And I don't know who else has what in.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
The Cincinnati has one loss, so that's what Texas Tech.
I think we need Cincinnati to lose conference.
Speaker 7 (27:42):
But just to be different, I'll take the points and
I know I'll regret it by halftime because there's he's
been on him since the start of the season.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
I mean they're good, They're yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
Really really good. Yeah, Yeah, they're getting Look, they're gonna
they're eventually gonna win the Big Twelve and they're going
to get into playoffs and there's a chance they could
be in the top four seat. They went out their
top four seat.
Speaker 5 (28:07):
How about a Texas Tech, Texas A and M meeting
in the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Maybe that I'm here for.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
It'd be great.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
And if they could, if they could put it in Dallas.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
What's that spread?
Speaker 4 (28:23):
Close?
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Red Raiders better than the Longhorns? Who would have thunk?
Speaker 7 (28:27):
Yeah, So are you gonna you're gonna take the obvious?
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Texas I'm I'm very conflicted on this because I love
b YU and they're doing this again. Their quarterback transferred
right before the season and they're starting not like a
veteran quarterback or so they're starting a freshman who's wearing
the number forty seven on his jersey.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
This is it's just a wild situation.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
Scataboo.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Yes, scataboo.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
It's something that never should have worked. And yet Bear
Bockmeyer has been fantastic. And it's not just him. Their
defense is really good. Uh, it's just such a sound
football team. But Texas Tech just has is two loaded,
I think, and I think that's really right.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
You guys are probably right, is.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
That the Red Raiders are a little bit too loaded
on offense. Morton's healthy, and when Morton's healthy, I mean,
this is a team that Utah is really good.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
They beat the breaks off of Utah in Utah. That
doesn't happen. It doesn't happen. Do you think this that
stadium in Lubbock will be crazed?
Speaker 5 (29:27):
Yeah? Oh they've probably been there since Thursday.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
Yeah is there? Oh okay, they're totally crazed and Lubbock today,
Uh I might. Uh, it's just getting serious.
Speaker 5 (29:42):
Now, I know where you're going.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
They looked they haven't covered the spread two weeks in
a row, and they got at Armys Sports Network.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
What what do we got Kyle for getting Kyle Temple
plus six Army.
Speaker 7 (30:00):
And again what happened last week was almost destined to happen.
You know, they've they've been they've been over playing themselves
all year basically, which is great. I mean, they get
first year coach whatever quarterback. They kind of took a
step back Armies not Army. They're They're still still good
and that's a tough place to go play. Logic says
(30:21):
I should take the Armies, but but I'm gonna have
to ride the Temples. And I gotta tell you, they
don't win today, Dick. Their last two games are not
real conducive to wins, so they might end up they.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
Really need it. Yeah, they they or the Navy. Yea,
we're gonna kill them.
Speaker 7 (30:42):
Reluctantly take the al I would like it if it
was over seven.
Speaker 5 (30:45):
I can't, Johnny, I'm gonna go with current him.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
I'm very reluctant because it just feels like this is
that's the kind of loss starts to get away from them,
and you know, they they played over their heads. You
get that one really bad loss and that just kind
of sticks with them for the remaining games. But I
want to say that they're They're a little bit better
than that. They do have a really great passing offense,
and just easy, you played a great game. I was
(31:12):
at that game and they were they were swarming like
I was. I was more impressed in the Pirates.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
Than I was. So you were the one guy at
that game, Yes, the one, the one of like a
dozen maybe at that game. But yeah, I was more
impressed by you, see, than I was discouraged by Temple.
I think they come back and have a much better
passing performance. This is gonna be really close.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
But that's where I don't know if Temple wins, but
I would take them getting the points here.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
Come.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with wistful thinking here and think
that the reason it's six and a half and not
maybe three and a half four and a half is
recency bias on East Carolina just you know, kicking the
crap out of them last week. So I will take
Temple to cover again. I'm not gonna sit here and
say they're gonna win the game, but I think the
spread is, you know, a couple points higher.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Than it should just Starmy has a tough time scoring points. Yeah,
and with with Temple's Passing caf. I think it's gonna
be better than it was last week. It still is, really.
Speaker 7 (32:01):
Gat Dick, How beautiful will it be to be in
Mischy Stadium today?
Speaker 4 (32:05):
I'm also the bandwagon, But yeah, Mikey Stadium mic is, Yes,
that's all right, one of the great venues in sports.
If anybody gets a chance to go up there. It's
right on the Hudson River, well, the West Point. I
actually thought about detouring from my basketball game and just
(32:26):
going to the Army Temple game today since I wasn't
that far from West Point. But yeah, it'll be a scene.
But yeah, I hung with him as long as I could.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
Guys, I can't uh, yeah, you're probably right.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
We allowed you for hanging in there for so long
I did.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
I hung in for like three or four weeks, which
is the longest ever. Yeah, I can't do it anymore.
But we're going to take a break. We're going to
get back with the last couple of college games that
I've written down, and then anything anybody else wants to
get to. It got some really good ones Temple, Miszoo,
Bama at LSU with its I don't know who the
coaches but I'm glad the other coach isn't there, Notre

Connecticut is not westh No, not west.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (34:45):
What is the the the mascot the nickname for the
New Haven squad?
Speaker 4 (34:50):
And it is a really good question which I actually
know the answer to if I can find it in
my notes. On a second, that's it. Yeah, they're the
charge again. There. They've been at division two program and
they've gone division one. It's weird. The University of Hartford
drop from division one division three. University of New Haven
(35:14):
has gone from two to one. And again they have
like I'm looking at the gym. I haven't gone inside yet,
but there's like a thousand seats. It's like Mike Rhodes
played the coach at BET's State, played at Levenon Valley,
and I'm going to ask him if he ever played
this in a gym, this Smolett when he played for eleven.
It's crazy.
Speaker 7 (35:34):
But rose Hill doesn't that seed about like thirteen hundred?
Speaker 4 (35:38):
Yeah, yeah, not a lot, Mike. That's more than's home
gym for the I don't know, You're not not a
big crowd at rose Hill.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
You want to ask.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Because we've seen basketball season has started, it's early, yep,
I know we have seen D two schools beat Division one.
I feel like it's happened a little bit more early
on this season. Is this This feels like more of
a product of NIL than anything. Even like the top
teams like hoarding all the talent. It's just that the
talent is moving on and Delaware is just being Like
(36:08):
Delaware is an example. They just lost the Wilmington and
some other D one stools in losty too. It just
feels like the talent gap has gotten like smaller and
smaller in that league.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
Yeah, I think that's yeah, John, I think that's probably right.
It makes sense, right because these smaller schools, you know it.
Certainly Delaware has got a reasonably good hoops tradition. If
they do a good job recruiting, which they've done, they're
they're they're screwed because their guys are going to go
somewhere else where they can do better. In fact, their
best player this year is Christian Bliss, who played at
(36:37):
the George School. I think he's their best player. I
mean he's leading him in scoring in a couple of
games he played. He was two years of Virginia, but
he got hurt. He never played, so now he's at
Delaware and if he has a great year, he ain't
going to be a Delaware Yeah. So yeah, I think
that's gonna happen more happens.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
Noise State lost.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
Right, Yeah, Division two Yet Loyal in Chicago got hammered
by somebody. I don't know. I think it was a
Division two school and they'd barely beat somebody else. But yeah,
it makes sense that that would happen more often. For sure.
We'll get into college hoops in a bit. So three
thirty ABC's got themselves a doubleheader today right BYU Texas
Tech Big twelve Major Ratifications, then Texas A and M
(37:17):
undefeated eight no. At Missouri six and two at three thirty.
Also at A and C. Kyle, what's the latest? I
know an M is a slate favorite's what's the number there?
Speaker 3 (37:26):
It's a minus seven minus.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
That's a bigger number than I would have thought. Minus seven,
I guess because they just hammered LSU. That was the
one that got them to minus seven. Kyle won don't
we start with you?
Speaker 6 (37:39):
Yeah, I mean, I'm gonna go back to what you said.
A and M is clearly one of the best teams
in the country. I'm going to buy into the seven
even though they're on the road, even if it's a
slight increase from what the line was yesterday, which I
think it was a little bit lower. So money's still
coming in on A and M. I'm still gonna ride them.
Give me A and M minus seven.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
Hey, John, what's what's Missouri's quarterback situation? Because I know Pabola.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
Yeah, he is out, so they're going to the backup quarterback,
which I'm trying to figure out. I think it's gonna
be Matt Zohler's is his name, So yeah, it's just Prebula.
And the good thing about him is he gave them
a lot in the running game too, So you're losing
like a really big part of their offense, which was
running the ball. So I I was I would have
(38:28):
liked Missouri if they had Prebula, But without that, I
think this is going to be a very, very uphill battle.
And you saw that against even Vanderbilt. I mean they
were on the road, but they only scored ten points.
You know That's that's a game where they should score
a little bit more. The Auburn game, they struggled. The
good thing is they're back at home. They've been on
the road the last two games. I just again, without
(38:49):
the running game Probula's legs, I think this is gonna
be really tough for Missouri.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
Yeah. I tend to agree, Mike.
Speaker 7 (38:56):
Yeah, at this point of the year, like I said,
I think Texas A and him can beat anybody. And
obviously I'm not the only one that thinks that, but
I'd like to take the underdogs at this time of
the year, just because there are upsets, there are clue
and they're at home. I would like it a lot
better if their quarterback was playing, but then the line
might not be seven. So I'll just go with Missouri
for no other reason than it's November Mazoo and their
(39:18):
home and getting seven.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Yeah, that's not an irrational thought. I just think I
saw their young quarterback play the game for Bully got
hurt and he wasn't bad. But man Texas saying that shit. Yeah,
I mean, I mean they're you know, when you watch
them play. I mean, their quarterbacks terrific. They don't have
a lot of faults that I could see. And I
don't care who you are. You go to LSU and
(39:42):
you just annihilate them on their field on a Saturday night.
I mean, that doesn't happen when they score like thirty
five in a row at one point, which is why
Brian Kelly got fired like the next day. Yeah, it's
crazy stuff. So yeah, I'll go back And this isn't
always the way to go, but I'll just go back
to they're the better team that they kind of proved that.
I think Missouri may have peaked like a month ago,
(40:03):
even with probula and so yeah, and they're mostly a
running team, and John's point is really correct. They're running
is not nearly as disaffective without the quarterback, as they're
running threat and this quarterback is not that who knows.
Speaker 5 (40:19):
You know what's interesting?
Speaker 4 (40:19):
Take A and M and give the touchdown.
Speaker 7 (40:21):
Dick in college football and the way college football is
now right with these coaches. So the Texas A and
M coach and the Missouri coach are both being mentioned
as guys, you know, could be why would you leave
Texas A and M?
Speaker 5 (40:33):
Am I missing the point? Aren't they don't have money?
Tons of money?
Speaker 4 (40:42):
Yeah, jim Bo Fisher is still collecting it. Mike Elko,
who's the coach right he was at Duke, has done
such a great job at A and M. I believe
he's a pengrad. Uh so he has you know, if
Penn State calls them, which they will, Okay, I don't
know that that's enough, but you know, not gonna get
any more money at pet stated get to Texas they
(41:02):
have and he might just say, hey, we're having an
unbelievable year, but our league is brutal and the chances
of us doing this that often are not that great.
Maybe he wants to come to testify. I don't know
anything if I'm just throwing it out there. It's it's
interesting the pool of these like candidates, right is like
shrinking because there's all these great jobs that are opid,
(41:23):
and you know who's the best guy. I mean, all
I know is Lane Kipping is just speaks like making
a billion dollars a week. Every time somebody gets fired,
his price goes up and whatever he's gonna I don't know,
you're gonna pay them that all miss or somewhere else.
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (41:37):
If the Missouri coach, I mean, he's done a wonderful job.
I get he's probably Missouri. You ain't winning in you know,
titles at Missouri.
Speaker 5 (41:43):
Probably you.
Speaker 7 (41:46):
Can go somewhere and my god, I mean, and you're
all going to get a hundred million everybody.
Speaker 4 (41:54):
Yeah, then if you then if you lose when you're
not supposed to, you get fired and you still get
one hundred million.
Speaker 5 (41:58):
It's a great win, win the great country.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
At seven thirty ABC, like I said, ABC's got themselves.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
They got it.
Speaker 4 (42:06):
They I'm sorry, I go to get the rest of
the picture. We get all the picks were good here.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Yeah, I think we did.
Speaker 4 (42:11):
I think we have the pick. Okay. At seven thirty ABC,
what a triple header uh Bama at home against LSU.
I don't know who the coach is. They're not very
good l s U Bama plangage. Yeah right, we know
we brid Kelly gone.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
What U?
Speaker 4 (42:27):
What is this number now?
Speaker 3 (42:30):
Eleven?
Speaker 5 (42:31):
Eleven? Yes, okay, that doesn't sound like a lot to me.
Speaker 4 (42:35):
Yeah. Now LSU can't score, right, They had this great
NFL style quarterback coming back in their offense has been
even when they when they went at Clemson early and
everybody was all excited or turned out. Clemson stinks. Yes, yeah,
it's just been bad. This is an easy one for me.
Give I'm getting the points. Alabama by twenty or more.
(42:58):
I don't like LSU even a little bit.
Speaker 6 (43:00):
Yeah, I'll make it easy as well, and just go
with you. I don't care what the spread is here.
It's Bama all day.
Speaker 4 (43:07):
Yeah. The other team's bad. There's just a bad squad, Mike, Okay,
I'm gonna take l s U.
Speaker 7 (43:13):
And the reasoning being, for first of all, it's an
SEC game where you're going give me eleven. Sometimes they've
got a coach now that they like they hate it.
That's a good way to put There was a guy
they I think it was boogrim McFarlane was only like
one of the shows actually goes. They didn't like him
a lot. They had last week off. I think they're
going to give a spirited effort. Alabama is really in
(43:36):
a bad spot here because you know, if they win,
everybody's gonna say okay, yeah, and they will win. And look,
I don't think I was just going here and winning
the game. But I'm going to take eleven and hope
that it goes up to twelve or something.
Speaker 5 (43:47):
Just on that premise.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Yeah, I think Mike Kern is right to take LSU.
It is still a rivalry game this and like with
a coach being fired, it sometimes motivates them. And you know,
I don't think maybe LSU really liked Brian Kelly all
that much. Maybe the players didn't like him, but they
like him in the second half AGAINSA and M and
(44:12):
the probably the thing with Alabama is they have played
such a rough schedule. Oh yeah, that like at some
point you're just thinking when is it? And South Carolina
was very close to happening. But I feel like the
South Carolina game was that one, like that was the
one they were supposed to lose. That was when they
played bad. They were on the road in Columbia. I
think they played really well here and I just LSU
(44:34):
just is overrated to me.
Speaker 5 (44:35):
I don't know, they're not read it.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
They're not, but yeah, I just it still looked at
like maybe they still have talent until I just don't.
I don't know if they really that look at it is.
Speaker 7 (44:43):
This could be like their last stand kind of to
maybe do something. Yeah, and they probably don't. You guys
are probably right. The Bama probably cruises.
Speaker 6 (44:51):
But I'm gonna take the points there alright.
Speaker 4 (44:55):
Seven NBC. Notre Dame makes gigantic favor I saw like
three or four touchdowns fare.
Speaker 5 (45:02):
For twenty seven Navy.
Speaker 4 (45:07):
They lost. Yeah, they lost, Yeah, and it got hammered. Actually,
but Notre Dame lost the two games early at Miami
for the second played well enough to win the home
game against sexas A and m But everybody said, look,
if they win the rest of their games, they're in.
And clearly they're tenth on the committee at the moment,
they're favored in the rest of their games. I think
(45:27):
the only game they have against Top twenty five is Pittsburgh,
and I don't I don't know if they're any good. Yeah,
it's just a question. You know, Notre Dame's going to win.
It's just a question are they going to win by
four touchdowns or not. Michael'll start with you.
Speaker 5 (45:42):
You know these Notre Dame and games for no good reason.
Speaker 7 (45:45):
I'll take the four touchdowns or almost four touchdowns dogs. Well, yeah, because,
like I said, dogs, bark and a couple of these games,
you know you're going to look at the scoreboard at
some point. Oh my god, that might happen. But No Dame,
I said it back then. They're going to be They're
going to be in the playoffs. Hell, they might get
a home game, in fact, probably will. And and the
(46:08):
loss to A and M right now, don't look bad?
Speaker 4 (46:11):
Look looks okay, Yeah, looks okay, take a one point
loss or something. Yeah. I actually kind of liked what
the committee did, even though they lost to Miami. They're like,
well ahead of Miami. Miami just saysn't played well. Well,
I mean, they've lost some games they're probably not supposed
to lose, including a home game.
Speaker 5 (46:29):
I know it's supposed to be.
Speaker 7 (46:30):
I've always been a big advocate of it's your whole season,
Like when I was trying to judge teams. I don't
throw out the games in early September, but the fact
that the matter was, it was early September.
Speaker 4 (46:40):
You know Notre Dame right now.
Speaker 7 (46:43):
Yeah, And I mean, I know it's a judgment on
my part, but Notre Dame is a better team than
Miami right now.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
That might not be fair in Miami, but you know,
and your thoughts, your thoughts aren't given essentially four touchdowns
Irish against the midship Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Would probably go Notre Dame. And the one thing Notre
Dame does have is offense. Now, really, DJ Carr has
been really good. Uh so Yeah, It's just it's a
different way of thinking about Notre Dame because usually you
just expect really good defense and you know, get by
on special teams, turnover, it's like a bunch of things
like that. But in a game like this, I just
think their offense is gonna outperform Navy by a wide margin.
(47:22):
So I'm going I'm going to Notre Dame. Don't love
it because it is a huge, huge point spread, but
I'm gonna go spots in the past like, yeah, it's
I think it's it's essentially like North North Texas put
up a good amount of points on Navy at thirty one,
like Notre Dame is a much I have to say,
(47:42):
much better offense, because North Texas has a really good one,
but the talent gap is just a lot better and
they can run the ball so easily with Jeremiah Love See,
I just love everything.
Speaker 3 (47:51):
When Notre Dame's offense, I think they're gonna put up
a lot of points.
Speaker 4 (47:54):
Yeah, I think it's fair to look at Navy as
in even and we talked about this even when they
were winning Temple Game being the prime example, if they
weren't like crussing people. They had some games where they
barely won the Air Force Temple Game and then they
did get crushed. Notre Dame's playing great. Uh A guy's
a terrific coach, as he's proved Marcus Freeman, and the
(48:16):
young quarterback is really good, and they certainly have the
best pair of running backs in the country. I don't
think there's much argument about that.
Speaker 5 (48:22):
Dame is a team that you might not want to
be playing if they get that far.
Speaker 4 (48:28):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, look, they played for the championship
last year, so they got experience in that spot. And
Riley Leonard was cool, but this kid's a way better
passing than Yeah, So I think I don't see. You know,
Navy might get like fourteen points or seventeen. They have
a better offense in normal. I don't see how Notre
Dame stays under forty.
Speaker 5 (48:48):
Can you give me twenty one, Dick? Can you get
me to twenty one?
Speaker 4 (48:52):
Yeah? That you're gonna need it, right, I don't. I
just think Nave is a physical mismatch, which it usually
is in this game. I don't doubt that, Dave. You'll
give a huge effort and all that, but they're.
Speaker 5 (49:04):
I'm going to just physically over games going to get
into the fifties. I can see. I can see this now,
like fifty two whatever.
Speaker 4 (49:14):
I think.
Speaker 6 (49:14):
These these big spreads are just such crapshoots. I'm gonna
take I'm going to take the dog here to cover
both rushing attacks are good on both ends. Hopefully that
speeds the game up and it somehow stays under the
four touchdown spread. And I've also taken a lot of
favorites today, so I got to balance myself out, you
(49:35):
know here, I like.
Speaker 4 (49:36):
I like your style. Any other games that strike anybody's
fancy here before we get the next topic.
Speaker 2 (49:43):
I am going Mississippi State to cover against Georgia to
it's nine and a half Georgia in some in Mississippi
states close.
Speaker 3 (49:55):
They've lost a lot.
Speaker 5 (49:55):
Of double wins.
Speaker 3 (49:57):
That's in Mississippi State, right, Yes, like MISSI staying a lot.
I'm gonna go West Virginia as well. I thought their
offense looked really good last week and Colorado was just
kind of falling apart of the seams. So I'm going
to go West Virginia.
Speaker 2 (50:10):
And then how about the Blue Hens four and four
this season, two and three in conference play in their
first year in Conference USA. They have a really good
passing offense. Louisiana Tech usually does not. This season, their
offense isn't all that great, so I really like the
Blue Hens to actually get a pretty good conference win.
They're a five and a half point dog at home,
(50:32):
so I'm gonna go the Blue Hens in Newark.
Speaker 4 (50:35):
Hens and John Here's here's what I want you to
do during the brain. I want you to walk into
the walk into the sportsbook. Bet. I don't care what
you bet. That's something on Delaware. The spread will change
like by three points you're gonna be the only person.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
I imagine I will be one of very very few.
A lot of money coming in on the blue.
Speaker 7 (50:59):
That's like Liberty Bell forty years ago. You'd walked in
like in the eighth race, five dollars down a horse.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
And I have watched Delaware games because they played a
lot mid week and so I'm able to catch a few.
Their passing offense is really good. Uh, it's just that
there it's a team that's coming up into uh the
Division one and higher football, But they have competed pretty well,
and especially Louisiana Tech is right on their level. And
I don't think Dela is getting enough credit for for
(51:26):
how good or at least solid they've been coming into
FBS for the first time.
Speaker 3 (51:32):
Today, Uh, Nova plays Queens. No, no, no, that's the
play football football football.
Speaker 7 (51:42):
There's a chance that Villanova could be nine and two
and in the playoffs and probably get a home game.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
It's looking that way.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
After a credit credit to Mark front Yes, the one
they they lost to monmm beat him pretty good. That
was like a oh no, like they had some guys
move on last year, you know. Just that was a
really big opening conference game for them. And they lost it.
And since then they have taken care of business every
(52:10):
step of the way. So like, credit credit to them,
they've looked really good.
Speaker 5 (52:13):
We should have had a Villanova Temple game this year, Dick.
Speaker 3 (52:16):
I think that's every year, every.
Speaker 4 (52:18):
Year, no question. And look it, March's down a phenomenal job,
you know, following a Hall of Famer and Andy Talley,
and that's been Mike. I mean, you covered it. That's
been a really good football program, right problem.
Speaker 5 (52:32):
Yeah, here's a year.
Speaker 7 (52:33):
After and I covered the championship in nine and they
almost won the championship in ten, which to me would
have been was an even greater feat with all the
injuries and stuff they had the year. They can't win
a national title the way that the sport at their
level was set up.
Speaker 5 (52:49):
If they get to even if they got to the.
Speaker 7 (52:51):
Semifinals, it would be a really because it's always South
Dakota State, North Dakota State.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
Their problem is once they run into those schools, that is, they've.
Speaker 5 (53:01):
Played those teams tough, like on the road.
Speaker 7 (53:04):
They went to San Diego or South Dakota State a
couple of times and played almost won the game. But
it's just not set up for them, and a little
bit of a shame because it used to be at
the league they were in, which at the time was
the CIA.
Speaker 5 (53:16):
I guess I'm still moving out right.
Speaker 7 (53:20):
But when they were in the CIA, the CIA was
winning lots of national titleswis AMU Delaware filling over.
Speaker 5 (53:28):
They were going more than schools.
Speaker 4 (53:30):
But the landscape that's totally changed. Before we get to
the break, and then we'll start with the Eagles on
the other side, the Fires. I'm gonna throw this out
there for a couple of reason. Flyers are eight five
and one, So major credit to Rick Cock at the
new coach, one of our favorite people. They played the
Centators today, Ottawa Senators at one in South Philly, Mike
(53:51):
the other night. I don't know if you got a
chance to talk to him, but Paul Holmgrom was there.
He actually spoke right before I did. He was also
abductor the Philly Sports Hall of Fame. I was shocked
he wasn't already in, but you know, legendary hockey player,
executive coach, general manager, everything. And I was talking to
him a little bit about the team and he said,
they're have been ahead of schedule, but they love the
young core that they have, and he said he's big
(54:12):
fans of Jonesy and the management team now and he
actually is still sort of involved though they said mostly
I'll just go to the games and hang out. But
it's cool that they're relevant again, because how long has
it been, Mike, you followed us? How long has it been.
Speaker 7 (54:27):
Since twenty ten when they got in on a shootout
as the last seed and then made it to the finals.
One The only good year was twenty twenty, the pandemic year,
when they were the number one seed.
Speaker 5 (54:39):
So it's basically been a fifteen year kind of not good.
Speaker 4 (54:44):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (54:44):
I have a friend. He's a really big hockey fan,
really big flya fan. His sons are.
Speaker 7 (54:49):
So the one thing that bothers them right now is
the way they're bringing Mischkoff along, which he.
Speaker 5 (54:55):
Stops the stars.
Speaker 7 (54:56):
He's yeah, he's the guy, and they're playing one like
the third line because the coach is trying to say,
you know, he doesn't play enough defense, he doesn't do this,
and I'm on for it. But to me, the only
thing if you're going to go forward two or three
years from now and you think you're going to be
good me. Scott has to be your Sidney Crosby. I
mean that's basically what it has to be. And if
(55:17):
that doesn't happen, because the Flyers have never had that star,
like when was the last time, you have to go
almost back to Lynn Dross maybe, and you need that
and you need a goalie and and their goalie situating
that guy they got's playing pretty good better Carter Hart
was supposed to be that guy.
Speaker 5 (55:34):
You know, he's not that guy.
Speaker 7 (55:35):
So but again, Dick I always thought to bringing tacket
in was going to do something. And even though Tokins
records coach isn't that great, I mean it's not like
you know, but and it was going now to me
this year and people are still saying they're not gonna
make the playoffs, I think they've got to me. If
they were to make the playoffs, even if they lose,
(55:57):
you know, who cares they make the playffs. I think
that would be a great, great first and I think
they got a shot. Definitely, They're gonna be fringe playoff
team for sure.
Speaker 4 (56:06):
I know, let's we need to playoff hockey in this town.
Speaker 5 (56:11):
What we need is to playoff hockey. And the Playoff
Basketball and.
Speaker 7 (56:14):
Every other night you have flyers on Tuesdays, Stitchers on Wednesday,
flyers on Thursday Friday.
Speaker 4 (56:21):
What a concept. Let's start two.
Speaker 5 (56:23):

Yeah I could.

We all could, but the odds are That's that's my
current Conina maker here. My name is John Jansen and charm.
Speaker 4 (58:14):
And by the way, the biggest athletic event in the
history of the University of New Haymond. If you can
imagine that a team like Penn State coming here and
find a thousand seat gyms, so they're very excited. Their
their band is playing the Parking.
Speaker 5 (58:28):
Football.
Speaker 7 (58:29):
You know, I know the football, but Penn State is
one of the biggest we're hinging college sports.
Speaker 4 (58:35):
Well, you have a big ten power conference playing in
a thousand seed jims. It's a big deal up here.
Uh so good for them that they're getting it to
Penn State. They did play Columbia yesterday here at one
o'clock and got hammered, So I'm not thinking that seas great.
Penn State work in progress. Eight freshmen, really really good.
(58:58):
And remember these names. Really good freshman backcourt for Penn State.
I mean like really good. So look, Melli Tunja from Turkey.
This kid is a I was dazzled by him on
Monday night, was like, really, how did they get this kid?
And at the highest ranked recruit in Penn State history,
(59:18):
Cayden Mingo, who played at Long Island Lutheran, also a freshman.
That's the Penn State backcourt. Now. The rest of it
to be determined. But they're really good.
Speaker 7 (59:27):
But the reality of life is that God forbid, if
these kids are good two years from.
Speaker 5 (59:34):
Now, the likelihood you never do. That's the same of it.
That's what I don't like it.
Speaker 4 (59:39):
Yeah, of course, yeah. Back in the day, you go, man,
you got a freshman backcourt, juniors and seniors, it'll be awesome,
But yeah, that's that's not the way this world works anymore.
So let's start at the end of week ten, which
is Monday night. Green Bay was minus three last week,
just had a awful lost last week to Carolina, and
(01:00:00):
it spread has only dropped the point at that Parks,
it's minus two at the moment over the Eagles. Johnny,
why we start with you? How are you assessing this game?
I mean, I think we looked at Green Bay one
way before last week and now you've gone, really, what
just to happen?
Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
Yeah, and it's mostly offensive issues that come up every
once in a while and it's just like, wow, this
is what is going on there. Happened in the Cleveland
game that happened last week. So the thing is, it's
not it's not consistently a week to week problem. They
can play really good offensive times. Jordan Love has played
very well at times, and I think this is a
game where they are going to play well. I would
(01:00:40):
actually lean green Bay, and that's not to say anything
bad about it. It's just it's a really tough game
in lambeau Field, and I you know, Eagles. Eagles were
kind of sitting pretty on the bye week and everybody
else is losing around them. But I think it was
mostly an example of the NFC is really tough, and
a lot of NFC teams that were near the top lost,
And I think the Eagles are kind of in danger
(01:01:01):
of losing this one as well, just because it's again
on the road and a very tough team.
Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
Yeah, and for the people that want to look ahead, obviously,
this is a difficult stretch with Detroit for Sunday Night
football next week. Eagles are minus one and a half
at home against Detroit at that parks at the moment, Mike,
what are you thinking Monday? Eagles plus two, green Bay
minus What?
Speaker 7 (01:01:22):
That's telling you that, if I'm reading this right, that
they think the Lions are better than the Packers.
Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
Correct?
Speaker 5 (01:01:29):
I get correct.
Speaker 7 (01:01:30):
This is an interesting game to me because the recency
biased thing which you always talk about, Dick. First of all,
Kyroline is not a bad team, the five and four.
We still think of them as correct. I think the
biggest thing to come out well. First of all, the
quarterback for Green Bay is two inconsistent. He can be
great at times, and he can just throw balls up
for fair catches and you sit there and go why
what are you doing this coach? I don't think he's
(01:01:53):
ever beaten Syrianna. I don't think the Rams coach has
ever beaten Syrianne. Syrianny's record coming off bys and things
like that is really really good. My heart says the
Eagles are the better team. I truly believe that. I
think this is a really, really tough spot. I want
to take Green Bay so bad because I really think
having the way they played last week, this being a
(01:02:15):
week to week league, but I'm gonna take the Eagles
because I think, and this is gonna have a lot
of ramifications or could for who gets the number one seed.
Green Bay's almost got to win this game or they
can't be the number one seed, you would think given
the fact of who they're going to play, who the Egles.
If the Eagles win this game. If the Eagles lose
this game, I think they could still be the number
one seed. Maybe it'd be tougher. But I'm gonna go
(01:02:37):
with the Birds against all my judgment that says the
Packers should win this game at home, I'm taking the
Birds on the road.
Speaker 4 (01:02:45):
Yeah. I think the Eagles are just better. I think
they have better players, and I Love what they did
at the deadline, Right, what were the two things they
were lacking, right, quarterbacks and rush ends, and they went
out and got both of them. Now, I think the
rush end is of a definite no question. He's going
to be a factor Phillips. I mean he's that good, right,
I don't the quarterbacks. Look, they've had success. The question
(01:03:09):
is where are they now? But man, if there are
anything like they have been, they might have just want
to know the Super Bowl? Uh, you know Brandon Graham
is now back because that they just haven't rushed the
pancer well enough. If they rushed Love, he might just
mention it. They'll throw it up for grabs. And green
Bay's defense is really really good. But the fact that
the Eagles have had to buy and they're going to
(01:03:31):
need to wait one of these next two. They don't
really want to lose both of them and get to
six and four. I mean, they're gonna win the division
because everybody the rest of the division is horrible. But
if they win them both, that's twelve games. What are
we talking about? That? Eight and to eight and two.
Speaker 5 (01:03:49):
Thirteen. You'll get to thirteen if.
Speaker 4 (01:03:52):
They Yeah, they to some games they can't lose and
they have to.
Speaker 5 (01:03:56):
Go to the Chargers, I believe also, yeah, and.
Speaker 4 (01:03:59):
That Dallas say looking all that tough at the moment now,
given the fact that they just lost at home to Arizona.
I mean, they're just not very good. So yeah, I
like the Eagles plus the two. I just think they're
better than green Bay. Not dramatically better, but better. And
the fact that they're coming off of buy and green
Bay's coming off a brutal.
Speaker 7 (01:04:17):
I think, Dick, I think Diagles would be a much
better chance of winning these two games than losing these
two games. That's the only way to look at They
can't lose these two games.
Speaker 5 (01:04:28):
They certainly could, course, but I think the Eagles right now, if.
Speaker 7 (01:04:33):
You're asking me, I think they should be the fact
I know them in Detroit, I think are the two,
and then the Rams are right there and the Green
Bay's right there. I think the Eagles are looking more
and more to me, mostly because they they've done it,
you know, which is part of the thing. They've played
probably the tougher schedule of any of the teams in
the NFC. I think are going to be close to it.
(01:04:54):
I think they're the team that people got to beat that,
that's that. Look, if you have to go to Seattle
in the playoffs, that could be a problem, even if
Donald's a quarterback. If you gotta go to Detroit in
the playoffs, that could be a problem. But I I
just like the way the Eagles have come through. I
know they've had their ups and downs, they haven't always
looked great. But I just think to be six and
two against the schedule that they you know, and I
(01:05:17):
know they could have lost the Rams game, but they
could have won the Broncos game, so you know, those
things go back and forth. So yeah, I feel the
way I'm gonna ride them for as long as they're
gonna take me.
Speaker 5 (01:05:28):
That's kind of how.
Speaker 4 (01:05:31):
What are you thinking here? Green Bay? Two Eagles.
Speaker 6 (01:05:34):
Yeah, So the way I says Green Bay is I
had them as a top tier team in the NFC.
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:05:40):
They lost that bad game to Cleveland. I chalked that
up as you know, everybody has a bad week. Eagles
lost to the Giants, it happens. H they last week
to Carolina, and now I kind of reassess my thinking
on Green Bay as just being an up and down
middle tier team. And I think all along the Eagles
had the better talent, and I still think the Eagles
(01:06:01):
have that higher tier assessment to them. I think green
Bay kind of just proved to me that they they
really aren't a top edity.
Speaker 7 (01:06:11):
Green Bay has been living off that opening win over
Detroit and yeah, good win.
Speaker 4 (01:06:15):
I'm not going to win.
Speaker 6 (01:06:16):
So I think I kind of I kind of had
green Bay higher than they should be. Jordan Love I
assessed him to be higher than I think he should be.
I think he is very up and down. I had
him as a better quarterback in the NFC. I kind
of drop him down a little bit because you don't
know where you're gonna get from him week in week out.
So I say all that to say, I'm you know,
a mix of what you said, and Mike Current said,
(01:06:39):
I'm riding the Eagles because I think they're more talented,
they're a better team, and they're still the team to
be in the NFC until they proved me wrong.
Speaker 5 (01:06:46):
I'm gonna ride with Dick.
Speaker 7 (01:06:47):
You know what, I think the key in the second
half for the Eagles is there are two lines. I
think if they're a offensive line, which was so great
last year, right and and this could be just after
affects both the running back and the line that they
you know, they did so much la year. If they
can get their act together, not to last year's degree
because they'll probably never see that again, but just to
(01:07:08):
where Saquon can kind of sort of be Saquon, and
if their defensive line can start, like you said, getting
to the quarterback, because we know the rest of them
get played except for the one cornerback, Phillips, I'm telling you,
because everything else they have. They have the quarterback, they have,
the receivers they have, they have a linebacker, a couple
of linebackers they have, you know. So I don't know,
(01:07:30):
And I hate it when I get too carried away
on the Eagles, I do.
Speaker 5 (01:07:33):
I hate it.
Speaker 4 (01:07:35):
But I think they and you're also gonna be getting
they're designed right, and they're also they're designed everything is
designed to take the January. I mean, that's what's the
whole design of the team. I mean, and that's what
happened last year. So yeah, you know, like the Giants
scand to me is that they lost is completely irrelevant.
That was just that was one of those freak things
(01:07:56):
that happened. And I think they were just exhausted from
all the heat that they've been in. But whatever. So yeah,
so what do we have would you end up going with? Coach?
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
I'm taking the I'm taking the Birds.
Speaker 4 (01:08:06):
Okay, so three to John's that's fine. Uh nine thirty
tomorrow morning. I don't know. It's just the biggest forty lens.
It's the thirty six Olympics in Berlin. Yeah, yeah, I'm
sure they've got some big soccer.
Speaker 7 (01:08:22):
Dick, the Jags coach showed his team videos of Jesse
Owens at the thirty six Olympics.
Speaker 4 (01:08:29):
What do you mean? What do you mean? The Jags coaches?
Speaker 5 (01:08:31):
Who's playing tomorrow? The Falcons coach Falcons.
Speaker 7 (01:08:34):
He says, this is the biggest thing happened super Hilarium
since Jesse.
Speaker 4 (01:08:38):
Yeah. Yeah, so Indianapolis minus six and a half against
the Falcons, who were one of the more bizarre teams
in the league. That's awesome that he shared a tape
of Jesse Owens and these people that don't know one,
not one, not two, not three bucks four gold medals
in the thirty six Olympics, one hundred the two as
the lock jop in front of a doll Hitler. It
(01:08:59):
was not happy. Micha let's start with you finally came
back to earth. Daniel Jones was brutal last week. I'm
still in.
Speaker 5 (01:09:11):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:09:11):
One week is one week and and those things are
will happen. But in these games overseas, I have no clue.
So I'm just gonna take the points. I'm gonna take
the Falcons in and just figure.
Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
It's gonna give me.
Speaker 7 (01:09:24):
I'm gonna take eight. I'm surprised if they won the game.
But again, you know, how did the Colt react to
what happened? You know, I I you know, I don't know,
figure out and crush them. But I'm gonna take the points.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
John, Yeah, the Colts had a bit of a rough
week last week. Yeah, five turnovers from Daniel Jones. I see,
I'm going the opposite. I think this is a little
bit of a bounce back for Indianapolis. Things get cleaned
up more, they start running the ball more with Jonathan
Taylor is really the engine of their offense, and they
really didn't go to them all too much last week
(01:09:58):
because uh, Pitt's is a bad passing defense, so I
think they wanted to try and take advantage. I think
they go back to Jonathan Taylor and kind of get
back to what they were doing. It's it's a Berlin
game in nine thirty in the morning, so I don't
know if it's going to be a completely clean game,
but it's the time, I mean our time time. I
will say that they get they get times. It's a
(01:10:21):
different time. They get back to being an efficient offense
this week. So I'm going with the Colts. It was
the best at times, it was the worst.
Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
They're not playing at nine, oh, I know, but they
but at a time, Yeah, have a time.
Speaker 4 (01:10:33):
Change, like Kyle.
Speaker 6 (01:10:34):
Yeah, Well, first of all, I'm not paying anybody until
we hammer down what time it is.
Speaker 5 (01:10:43):
Daniel.
Speaker 6 (01:10:45):
Yes, So Daniel Jones kind of reminds me of Jesse
Owones a little now, all right, serious, seriously, the Colts
I think I'm leading more towards John Jansen.
Speaker 3 (01:10:56):
I think they bounce back here.
Speaker 6 (01:10:57):
They got to get back to their ways where they
give it to the best running back in football and
Jonathan Taylor and then Daniel Jones, can you know, fill
in the gaps where he needs to from there? Not
leaning on Daniel Jones arm to win you games like
they tried to last week. Get back to what you're doing.
I also can't trust Michael Pennix on the other side
of the ball. I don't know which Michael Pennox you're
gonna get week in and week out. I don't fully
(01:11:17):
trust him yet. So I think the Colts bounce back
here cover the six and a half in Berlin.
Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
Yeah, I don't. I don't have much of a feel
for this because Atlanta is so bizarre and sort of
know what's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (01:11:28):
I don't know what you're getting from them each tweet.
Speaker 5 (01:11:33):
The Packers are one five in their last six ats.
Speaker 4 (01:11:40):
World time. That's that's a meaningful status playing that. Well, yeah,
I'll take it, Lanta. But I had no feel for
this game at all. Here's the game of the day.
These are all these are one o'clock games. Now only
Cleveland is favorite on the road minus two again legit,
(01:12:00):
sad Sack Jets, I mean, is it?
Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
What?
Speaker 4 (01:12:05):
How could anybody be favored in this game? How has
this even possible?
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
She made pick Cleveland's coming off of bye so that's
pretty big.
Speaker 4 (01:12:12):
Yeah, all right, we'll start with you, Mike browns Jets,
Cleveland giving to I'm the medal, which I.
Speaker 7 (01:12:21):
Got mor under for reasons that I don't even begin
to comprehend. Since whatever happened to the Jets this week,
I'm gonna take the Browns. I just you're on the
Jets and they just treated like your two bad that
the Browns think we all know that.
Speaker 5 (01:12:38):
But I'm gonna take the Browns.
Speaker 4 (01:12:41):
So Miles Garrett might be the best player in football,
he might have nine sacks that I might or tomorrow,
I'm taking Cleveland minus two. John is still at Gabriel,
still the quarterback or who's the quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:12:52):
Yes, yes, still at Gabriel. I have no idea how
because it's so clear that he's not an NFL quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:12:59):
But I'm I'm not making has never even made it
up the number two yet he has he's number two. Yes, okay,
he's number two, but he's not played yet.
Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
He is not played.
Speaker 4 (01:13:14):
Who are you taking in this context.
Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
Going, I'm going with the Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:13:20):
Like for as bad as Oliver for the Jets two
game winning the Jets, I think you can find a
little bit of their offense than Cleveland can. And for
as bad as the Jets defense is now without any
good players, I mean qu Quinn, Quentin Williams gone. I
saw Gardner gone like they have nothing on defense. Dylan Gabriel, Yes,
(01:13:42):
he's the problem. This could be one of those six
four Iowa Penn steaking.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
Absolutely, but I can't include faith.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
Take the team on the road, get getting like getting points.
Why can't throw cland Cleveland Sara Jets.
Speaker 4 (01:14:02):
I know, I know.
Speaker 3 (01:14:05):
Field can complete a pass over ten yards.
Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
So I like, here's my opinion. There's one good there's
one good unit here in this game out of I'm
taking I'm taking Cleveland.
Speaker 6 (01:14:17):
Kyle, Yeah, I'm gonna go with Cleveland here. I can't
take the Jets.
Speaker 5 (01:14:21):
It's another one you win, John and Hot these three
of what was.
Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
I like that? For me? I like it not that.
Here's one of my favorite bet Park spreads of the
week Jacksonville minus zero point five on the road at Houston,
which is plus zero point five. John, we always start
with you. With the Jaguars somehow managed to win one
of the ugliest games ever.
Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
I don't know how they do it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
It was the ugliest game until it got to the
first quarter and both teams could not stop scoring.
Speaker 3 (01:14:54):
It was it was I've never seen it.
Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
It was.
Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
It was so other for three quarters, Like how is
this even football? And then all of a sudden, they
both turned into like prime Patrick Mahomes Kansas City offenses
in just one quarter. I I Jacksonville should win this game.
But Jacksonville right now is a team that's so messy.
They're injured as heck right now to uh, their their
(01:15:18):
top two receivers I think are hurt. They're going with
Parker Washington and Deammie Brown. They just got stroudsers Stroud.
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
But the thing is Stroud's not playing and Davis Mills
comes in, and Davis Mills isn't any good.
Speaker 4 (01:15:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
I'm I'm actually gonna go Houston because this is one where, like, yes,
Houston's defensive units probably is the best unit in this game.
Speaker 7 (01:15:38):
Jacksonville has covered their last four, so I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna take the Texans, even though I like the
quarterback for Jacksonville.
Speaker 5 (01:15:48):
That's all I got on that game.
Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
And Trevor.
Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
Trevor's are maybe the worst pick I've seen him throw
last week and then proceeded to have like one of
his better games of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
He was fantastic last week.
Speaker 4 (01:16:00):
Kyle.
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
Yeah, I've hated both of these teams. All year.
Speaker 4 (01:16:05):
They are.
Speaker 6 (01:16:05):
They're both messy, disgusting teams. But that said, Jacksonville still
has Trevor Lawrence. They still have Travis etn They're gonna
ride great. Yeah, they're gonna ride with those two leading
the offense. I think Jacksonville should and will win this game.
If they don't, even if it's ugly like they always.
Speaker 5 (01:16:23):
Do, something's wrong If they don't win. I'm sorry, but.
Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
That's the thing.
Speaker 4 (01:16:26):
I think something is wrong.
Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
And look the injury piled up. It's very interesting.
Speaker 5 (01:16:30):
You're gonna go three one again, Dick. You're gonna go Jacksonville.
Speaker 4 (01:16:34):
Look, I'm not a Jacksonville fan, but I can't pick
Davis Mills to beat anybody, so I have to pack
jackson I like, like he's the.
Speaker 5 (01:16:43):
One in all these three ones.
Speaker 3 (01:16:45):
We're taking Johnny Jacksonville team going against I know.
Speaker 4 (01:16:50):
Continuing with the one o'clock games, this is one of
my favorite games of the weekend. Buffalo minus nine at Miami.
I love the Dolphins. They played Buffalo tight in Buffalo.
They're gonna cover, they might even win the game out.
Speaker 5 (01:17:06):
I'm going to make you feel good. Buffalo's one and
four in their last five is favorite. So I'm going
to go with you. I'm taking the Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (01:17:15):
Against the spread. We're talking about.
Speaker 5 (01:17:17):
Yeah games favorite, right, I.
Speaker 4 (01:17:21):
Got I got Johnny, but we got two Dolphins. You know,
going out on the limbar. What do you play?
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
It's funny. I'm going Buffalo. I think they kind of
figured something a little bit out. It was a really
great win against Kansas City. They put up forty against Carolina,
so their offense is back on track. In Miami just
has this incredible ability of throwing up complete duds on offense.
They scored six pints Baltimore thirty four against Atlanta, So
credit there is the Dolphins. Dolphins are home.
Speaker 5 (01:17:48):
Okay, at least, yes, you're gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:17:50):
They have come down Buffalo inc out and get a
receiver I trade. They just told yeah, they just have
So I don't know what to make of that. Still,
I'm going I'm going how.
Speaker 5 (01:18:03):
You're gonna make it three to one? Are you gonna?
Speaker 4 (01:18:04):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:18:04):
I gotta go Buffalo?
Speaker 4 (01:18:05):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (01:18:06):
Miami is another team I hate. You'll you'll notice the
trend here. There's a lot of teams I hate. Miami
still is one of them. Dolphins are brutal. Yeah, Miami
had what one or two good games, and then they
went back to being Miami with like John said, six
points against a putrid Baltimore defense that has been playing
better but still futrid. I hate Tua, I hate their coach,
(01:18:28):
I hate Miami. Buffalo's back on track. Give me Josh
Allen and James Cook one of the most underrated running
backs and football has been tremendous.
Speaker 4 (01:18:37):
Might be the game of the day tomorrow. Yeah, how
about this game? All of a sudden The only way
this could be better as if Tom Brady was playing
for both games. Tampa Bay minus two at home against
New England, two teams bound for the playoffs. New England's
been nearly one of the stories of the league this year,
the fact that they're this good, this fast, with the
new coach and the young quarterback. Kyle will start with
(01:19:00):
you Buccaneers giving two to the Patriots.
Speaker 6 (01:19:03):
Yeah, and I'm just looking at the injury. Yeah, Bucky Irving,
Godwin and Hassan Reddick are all out out tomorrow yep.
With that said, yeah, I gotta go to New England.
I think Tampa Bay. I think Tampa Bay is going
(01:19:23):
to be, you know, a big threat in the NFC.
Baker Mayfield has been tremendous. I just think Tampa Bay's
gonna be too banged up for this game, and New
England's just been on a roll. Drake Made has been incredible.
I know New England's going to be without Ramandre Stevenson,
but they still have two backs that they can work
with and Stefan Dick has been a nice target for May.
Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
I like New England here.
Speaker 4 (01:19:44):
Hey, Johnny, is this young quarterback as good as he
appears to be? And I haven't seen a lot of it? Yes, okay, yeah, yeah,
I know you were high on it coming out of UNC,
so what are you thinking on this game?
Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
Was very high and I will continue to be I
don't think what I'm gonna say is is anything again
straight may what he's doing, he's been phenomenal and Mike
has done a great job coaching there.
Speaker 2 (01:20:05):
But they're on the road taking on like a decent
Tampa Bay team, and I know they're injured, but this
is the kind of game where this is a Baker
Mayfield game. Like it's just like it's a grinded out game.
It's a perfect like Baker Mayfield is figuring out something
and they win the.
Speaker 5 (01:20:18):
I'm with John, I'm for the same reasons. I love
New England.
Speaker 7 (01:20:21):
I think what they're doing, but this spot, Baker Mayfield
is going to figure out a way to win the game,
and I don't I don't know what, but that's where
I'm going.
Speaker 4 (01:20:33):
Yeah, I'm gonna probably go there too. And I'm a
New England's fan. But New England's put themselves in such
a great spot. This is not a game they need
to win at all. I mean, the schedule isn't. They're
a great They're a great spot to get a decent
seed in the AFC. I mean right now, they're I
think there are they half a game. They had a
Buffalo or tied with Buffalo the.
Speaker 7 (01:20:52):
Half of it, but they beat Buffalo at Buffalo, so
they got the tybreak.
Speaker 4 (01:20:56):
So they're right. They're in a great spot. If they
get Buffalo at Huh again and win again, they're almost
certainly gonna win the division, bark some disaster and they be.
Speaker 5 (01:21:04):
The number one seed in the.
Speaker 4 (01:21:07):
Right. Yeah, I get I think they get the Jets again,
Dolphins again, and you know that that division is brutal
once you get past the top two. So yeah, but
I'll go Bucks. I think it's more important for them
than Patriots. Cole, did you make everybody made a picker? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:21:22):
The Bucks had a bye last week. I think Yeah,
they did.
Speaker 4 (01:21:24):
Okay, Chicago minus four and a half against the Giants.
I'm a little surprised that it's done a bit higher, Mike,
what do you think of their Bears? Giants minus?
Speaker 3 (01:21:37):
Is that?
Speaker 5 (01:21:37):
This is that Giants?
Speaker 4 (01:21:39):
It's that. That's why I'm surprised. It's a lot of
a little higher.
Speaker 7 (01:21:42):
I don't like this game because the Bears were another
one these teams in about eight of them, they just
irritate the crap out of me.
Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Very messy, they're very Jacksonville. But and the Giants have
played like fairly decently lately. I mean, I know they
don't have Scatterboo, they don't have the receiver. The quarterback
is been whatever. Oh God, I'm gonna hate myself. I'm
gonna take the Giants. I'm gonna take the Giants, and
I don't know why.
Speaker 4 (01:22:09):
I have no I have no real So I'm gonna
take the Bears, and I do know why they actually,
I mean, they were like two touchdowns better than Cincinnati
last week. I don't know. Yesous. Yeah, so they give
up a late touchdown and then you know the only
one sidekick in history. It will then know one sidekick
which you never I mean that never gets recovered anymore.
(01:22:30):
I don't know what they will never do it. The
next thing you know, they're losing right like in Cincinnati,
which is brutal, and they run right down the field
to score. No, not that that's hard to do. It's
like the imagine I look it up for the people
that don't know Mike Nose. He's a history, He's a
history puff. Cincinnati might have the world's worst defense, I mean,
(01:22:51):
like in the history of the NFL, which is say
it a lot, because there's been some bad defenses. So
I just like the fact that the Bears ran down
the field in two seconds. They didn't freak out. They
were way better with the Cincinnati. They're better than the Giants.
Like I like Chicago. I'm surprised this isn't seven.
Speaker 5 (01:23:07):
That's why I went the other way.
Speaker 3 (01:23:09):
Yeah, I agree. I've been on the Bears the entire year.
Speaker 6 (01:23:15):
I think they're starting to play winning football, as Dick
just alluded to it. I mean years past, that's a
game that they lose in Cincinnati. They finally have a
good head coach, uh what they which they've been looking
for for plenty of years. They've had some pretty bad ones.
It looked like Caleb Williams is turning into you know
what he's supposed to be. They have talent around him.
(01:23:37):
They're creating a winning culture in Chicago. I'm buying into it.
Tomorrow's a game they should win, and I think they
will win.
Speaker 2 (01:23:45):
Johnny, it has been like creative and fun to see
Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams work together and Kayleb Williams
kind of growing in that offense. And I think last
week was a really good example of that against Cincinnati.
To head, I think Caleb Williams called two touchdown passes.
I thought he threw the ball well, Like It's just
it's everything that you wanted from Ben Johnson coming from
the Joint to Chicago.
Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
Cincinnati though, and uh the Giants, Yeah, now you're right.
Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
But Chicago was a little messy still despite all the creativity,
still a little bit messy. And this is the perfect
kind of game for them to get messy in and
for for the Giant look Jackson Dart to lose, yes,
but to almost last second get a field goal. I
think that Jackson Dart at least gives the Giants like
(01:24:34):
some life just because he is creative. The off scripts
scripts stuff has been really good from Jackson Dart.
Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
I think you see a lot of that in this game.
So I think they keep it close. So I'm I'm
going Giants.
Speaker 4 (01:24:47):
Final break. We got half a dozen games to go.
I've actually seen people tailgated here outside of the Jeffrey
pow be doing.
Speaker 3 (01:25:00):
We get some of them on the show. I love that.
Speaker 4 (01:25:02):
Yeah, maybe we'll get them more on the answer if
they like their their squad again.
Speaker 3 (01:25:08):
The Chargers on the Chargers area get their faults on
the Browns Jets game too.
Speaker 4 (01:25:18):

but Dick Girardi, which is a lot better, I would say,
on the phone. Do you know who flow Ride is?
Speaker 3 (01:27:37):
Dick Gerardi?
Speaker 4 (01:27:39):
Absolutely, he is planning for New Haven today gets pinched.
Speaker 3 (01:27:43):
Yes, he has eligibility, he's the starting center.
Speaker 4 (01:27:48):
He just they just brought him over in the transfer portal.
A couple more Bot acockcis Baltimore minus four at bet
Parks at Minnesota, which had their biggest win of the
year last week they won at Detroit twenty seven twenty four.
The Ravens with Lamar looked like they're back. This is
an interesting spread. They're saying, basically, the Ravens are seven
(01:28:09):
points better than Minnesota. Mike, you said, act just will start.
Speaker 5 (01:28:13):
With you, Well, which game we talked about here?
Speaker 4 (01:28:17):
Just we're go Minnesota more minus four? You want that?
Speaker 7 (01:28:21):
Actually, my initial I don't want to do that recency
biased thing where you know, the Ravens looked good last
week with and Minnesota. McCarthy has had like two good
quarters all year, but Minnesota came up with a nice win.
Speaker 5 (01:28:36):
So went a Detroit yep, and going to Minnesota.
Speaker 7 (01:28:40):
Is not an easy spot. You know that that can
be a tough place to play. My initial thought was
to take the Ravens because I think they're going to
come on. But I'm gonna go with Minnesota get in
the Ford home because I just think that's a little
too much.
Speaker 5 (01:28:52):
So That's how I'm gonna go.
Speaker 4 (01:28:54):
Yeah, Look, Mike, I thought you met somebody interesting about J. J.
McCarthy that you know it looks certainly decent. He was
a problem against Detroit, But to me, this is a
quarterback mismatch, right. I mean, you've got a guy who's
played like ten minutes of that NFL football against the
multi time MVP. He's now playing at that level again.
(01:29:15):
I just think Baltimore is better than Minnesota. I don't
really care where the game is, and their defense Kyle
mentioned this earlier, which was just off early, is now
like decent enough and they certainly can score thirty on anybody.
I'll take Baltimore minus the four. John.
Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
I'm also going to take Baltimore minus the four this one.
Maybe go to Minnesota. They're at home, and maybe this
is too much Lamar Jackson being back and the spread
has gone away in their direction. But like also Lamar
Jackson is back playing well, and their defense is much
better than it has been, So I really like Baltimore
in this game. I think they're going to give JJ
(01:29:53):
McCarthy some fits, but mostly I think their offense is
going to do very well against Minnesota defense. That incredible
game plan against Detroit, but still they can give up
some yards on the ground, and that's where Derek Henry
and Lamar Jackson come in and I think play very
well in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
So I like Baltimore.
Speaker 6 (01:30:10):
Yeah, there's no recency buyas when it comes to Lamar
Jackson being in the lineup for Baltimore. They're one of
the best teams in the a f C and JJ
McCarthy decent game last week. But you can't be decent
to beat Baltimore with Mar Jackson. You have to be exceptional.
I don't think JJ McCarthy's there yet. He could be eventually,
(01:30:31):
but I'm all over Baltimore in this game minus four
and believe it or not, I forget what the stats are,
but Baltimore's got a pretty good chance of coming out
of the a f C in the one of the
sports books at a stellar three and five.
Speaker 3 (01:30:46):
So that just tells you all you need to know
about Lamar Jackson's impact.
Speaker 4 (01:30:49):
They are.
Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
They're at three and five right now. They started the
season I think one in five and they're probably going
to win the AFC one Mostly.
Speaker 7 (01:30:59):
I think they they flounder the player and Lamar has
I don't know the exact numbers. Lamar's record against NFC
teams is really good. He doesn't lose the NFC teamsgot.
Speaker 3 (01:31:09):
About that number. But yeah, he's very good against the NFC.
Speaker 4 (01:31:13):
It's like a million and one or a million and none.
Mike Dear, I'm.
Speaker 5 (01:31:18):
That's all there.
Speaker 4 (01:31:19):
You go, final one o'clock game and John or whoever. Yeah,
I think you're talking about Carolina. I mean they're actually
decent right and now they're at home. They're minus five
and a half over New Orleans, which was hanging tight
the first month with Kellen Moore of it. They've fallen
into oblivion in the moment. I would like their home
(01:31:39):
number four.
Speaker 7 (01:31:40):
You yeah, Carolina five and oh ats versus teams with
a losing record, which I think the Saints they qualify
as that.
Speaker 4 (01:31:50):
I think they would definitely qualify. They won once as
to my knowledge. Yeah, and look bad doing it, Johnny,
what are you thinking here? Carolina minus five in.
Speaker 3 (01:31:58):
The God, I hate Carolina so much. They're five and
four and like I know, it's positive another team like
they're they're disgusting.
Speaker 4 (01:32:10):
And I absolutely hate Carolina team.
Speaker 3 (01:32:14):
The one thing that's really changed is Rico Daldo has
been like a revelation. This guy's been one of the
best running backs in the league this year. They finally
have realized, like, maybe we shouldn't be giving two but
more carries and Rico.
Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
Maybe we should just like let Rico keep doing his thing.
And he paid off for them spectacularly against Green Bay.
So I'm I'm going to go with Carolina because of that,
and also, Tyler Shuck is just awful.
Speaker 3 (01:32:40):
I think it was actually a really bad decision to
go to him.
Speaker 2 (01:32:43):
I know they kind of have to if you have
to see what a twenty six year old rookie quarterback
looks like, but that like that to me was just
a miss of a draft pick to begin with, and
it's gonna look so bad even now actively watching it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:54):
So I'm going Carolina.
Speaker 6 (01:32:57):
Uh yeah, I mean, let's look at the Saints in
a nutshell here, and they went with the was it shaw.
Speaker 3 (01:33:06):
H o U G Tyler Shuck last week?
Speaker 4 (01:33:08):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:33:09):
He stinks.
Speaker 6 (01:33:09):
Their leading rusher last week was Taysom Hill, and their
leading receiver last week is not even on the team anymore.
I don't care how much you hate Carolina. I am
not putting any money anywhere near the New Orleans Saints.
Give me Carolina.
Speaker 4 (01:33:25):
Mike, did you make a pick of this game? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:33:28):
Yeah, yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:33:28):
The Carolina unanimous. We're going with Carolina. New Orleans win
by three touchdowns. Yeah, shuck, shuck is terrible. I don't
I agree that they just should have stayed with the
previous quarterback.
Speaker 5 (01:33:40):
I don't get Spencer weird.
Speaker 4 (01:33:42):
But they drafted in the Yeah, they drafted the first round,
so they got to play. And it's the usual tone
no I to four oh five. Yeah, no, I agree, Mike,
you don't. But they are dumb. But the general manager
screamer at the coach. You gotta play this guy so
make you look good or in this case, it might
be making them look bad. Seattle, which has been absolutely
a revelation. They're really good. Nobody's paid attention to them,
(01:34:04):
minus six and a half at home against Arizona, which
went to Dallas, and I guess that's an upset, but
I don't upset anybody beating Dallas these days. It's such
a clown show down there. John Michae will start with you. Seattle.
Speaker 7 (01:34:18):
Minel's actually been a better road team under this coach,
which is amazing because they had that fifth twelfth man,
whatever the hell they had. Seattle is five and one
is a favorite and four known against teams with losing records.
Speaker 5 (01:34:32):
So the Cardinals do have a losing record.
Speaker 7 (01:34:34):
What I'm going to take the Cardinals into points because
they've been a pesky team the last five to six games.
Another team that bothers me because I never seem to
can quite get a fix on him. But I think
this could be a decent game.
Speaker 4 (01:34:48):
I do. I am about the coach of the Arizona
saying even if Kyler Murray was healthy, he wouldn't be played. Yeah,
I think to have that.
Speaker 5 (01:35:02):
Yes, it's not like you're saying he's backing up on
the guy in New England or something. Yeah, you mean,
well he's going to.
Speaker 4 (01:35:09):
Pay for another selling. Yeah, it's telling you they want
to get rid of Kylin Murray, but they can't because
they all have booms. That's what it's games only.
Speaker 7 (01:35:17):
Got thirty eight million guaranteed of his seventy nine million.
That's it left starting he'll be starting for who's going
to be starting.
Speaker 5 (01:35:28):
Where the Saints? Saints next year?
Speaker 3 (01:35:31):
That's not a bad tape.
Speaker 4 (01:35:33):
I like, uh, John, what he's what do you think
of this contest? Seattle minus six? And that?
Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
But okay, So Jacoby Brissette is playing well and played
well last week and they won. But that's the first
game they won with Jacoby Brissett and the last game
they played was against the Dallas Cowboys, who have.
Speaker 3 (01:35:53):
If it wasn't for Cincinnati, one of the worst.
Speaker 2 (01:35:57):
Defenses in football, it is the worst again outside of Cincinnati,
which they're not even playing football at that point.
Speaker 3 (01:36:02):
So Dallas to me is.
Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
Seattle is going to play much better against them. Jacoby
Pressett is still a backup quarterback and a journeyman backup quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:36:14):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
The Seattle is a monster of a team right now.
They just got Raid Shiheed too from New Orleans. So
you have Jackson Smith and Jig but who's already one
of the best deep threats with Rahat Rashid Chihed who
is also one.
Speaker 3 (01:36:26):
Of the best deep threats.
Speaker 2 (01:36:28):
Just say, you're taking Seattle, But yes, I'm taking Seattle.
But like this is this is like overwhelming, This should
be over a touchdown. Arizona stinks and they stink with
Kyler Murray and they stink with Jacoby Prissette.
Speaker 3 (01:36:40):
How this is not a touchdown is blowing my mind.
Blowing mine recently, I've.
Speaker 4 (01:36:45):
Had I've had the same rule since that fiasco when
they lost man, I would give sixteen and a half
with Seattle and give me the homes favorite Kyle.
Speaker 6 (01:37:00):
Yeah, I gotta go with Seattle here. Arizona stop me
if you heard this before. I hate Arizona. I hate them.
They are another disgusting team. Jacobe Bursett's a little bit
more serviceable than Kyler Murray. But Kyler Murray I've not
been a fan of him his entire career. Switch Yeah,
Seattle all the way, even though you're right, my current
(01:37:21):
Seattle undefeated on the road, only two and two at home.
Speaker 7 (01:37:24):
They've been tremendous on the road, which it's just it's
like that's the anti Seattle.
Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
But love me some sat Arnold Sam Donald's we got three.
Speaker 4 (01:37:33):
There, you got, we got we got three left, tennutes
to go. Detroit minus eight at Washington, which is really
in landover Maryland. For people that know worthy commanders play,
the commanders are complete mess. They're a disaster right now.
Detroit can't be happy after losing last week. John will
start with you Detroit minus at Washington.
Speaker 2 (01:37:53):
So Washington has still played well with Marcus Mariota and
I'm not I still think Detroit it's very good. I
haven't loved what I've seen from them, So I'm actually
gonna go Washington here. Not to say Detroit loses. I
just think it's gonna be a bit of a closer
game than Washington's kind of been playing the last couple
of weeks.
Speaker 7 (01:38:11):
Mike, Lions are twelve and zero after a loss. I guess,
like three years, I'm taking the Lions.
Speaker 5 (01:38:19):
Yep, enough to I'm taking the Lions too.
Speaker 4 (01:38:23):
I just think watching it, Thanks, I think they're terrible.
Speaker 6 (01:38:26):
Kyle, Yeah, I think Jayden Daniels going down again last
week kind of just took all the wind out of
the sales of what was already a kind of bed
and commander.
Speaker 5 (01:38:35):
Seat if they were coming back.
Speaker 3 (01:38:36):
It was thirty eight seven, Yeah, it was thirty eight
to seven.
Speaker 5 (01:38:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:38:40):
I gotta go with Detroit here as it bounce back.
Speaker 4 (01:38:45):
This is this The line surprises me a little bit.
The Rams are five and a half point favorites in
Santa Clair against the forty nine ers. Not that I'm
surprised that Rams are favored and the forty nine ers,
I mean, the whole team is hurt. It's just a mess.
Uh J Is this too high? I mean I kind
of look at it that way, like.
Speaker 7 (01:39:07):
The Niners beat them earlier this year. I know, but
here's a stat you're gonna like.
Speaker 5 (01:39:13):
In the last.
Speaker 7 (01:39:14):
Fourteen meetings between these two teams, the dog has covered
thirteen of them.
Speaker 4 (01:39:20):
Well, there you go, give me San Francisco plus, I'll
take you San Francisco. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:39:25):
I thought that Matt Staffords playing right now.
Speaker 3 (01:39:29):
Oh yeah, people that they don't notice this.
Speaker 5 (01:39:32):
And he's got like twenty two touchdowns one interception.
Speaker 3 (01:39:35):
I think he's only one touchdowns too interceptions.
Speaker 5 (01:39:37):
Yeah, I mean he's playing so well.
Speaker 4 (01:39:41):
Awful.
Speaker 3 (01:39:41):
Two packs.
Speaker 4 (01:39:45):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:39:46):
Yeah, I'll chime in here.
Speaker 6 (01:39:49):
I've been even though it's Mac Jones as the quarterback,
he's been okay. The reason he's been okay is because
of Kyle Shanahan. And as long as Kyle Shanahan san
Francisco's coach, I think they have a chance in every
game they play.
Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
I like San Francisco here.
Speaker 4 (01:40:05):
Yeah, I mean the coaches. I mean, I don't know
how they're even doing anything given all the people that
are her time. Chad, did you give a pick in
this game?
Speaker 2 (01:40:12):
I have not, But yeah, Kyle, Kyle think makes a
great points just no matter who's on the field, whatever, quarterback.
It is that Kyle Sans is always gonna make it work.
Speaker 5 (01:40:22):
And they got twenty three. Get twenty three.
Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
Yeah, yeah, I'll tell you what, christ mccaffy. There is
always a base for like how good they are because
of Christian McCaffey.
Speaker 5 (01:40:30):
The biggest loss was the middle linebacker.
Speaker 7 (01:40:32):
Ye, he's great, and he hasn't played in like three weeks,
which will probably ultimately screw them.
Speaker 2 (01:40:38):
But I'm I'm going to go San Francisco here. I'm
more very yeah, I'm very cautious about it. Well, just
because Rams are starting to play extremely well.
Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
Final Sun Final game Sunday Night Football in LA. So
far Stadium Chargers minus three against.
Speaker 3 (01:40:56):
Pittsburgh, not West.
Speaker 4 (01:40:57):
If Baltimore went, Yeah, if Baltimore wins and Pittsburgh loses,
Baltimore will be one game out of first and and
it has not played Pittsburgh. So to John's earlier point, uh,
Pittsburgh did win a nice game last weekend with they
worked technically who they beat They were't supposed to win
the game, and they did.
Speaker 5 (01:41:17):
Indian Indianapolis and they sacked.
Speaker 4 (01:41:19):
The Yeah, it was just become one of those bizarro games.
Let's start with you Chargers minus three at home against
Aaron rodgers Man.
Speaker 7 (01:41:32):
So this is really a pick him on a neutral
fields week, right, I think the Chargers had a buy.
Speaker 3 (01:41:37):
No, they they played, they beat Tennessee. That's a bye.
That's a bye. That's a very good point.
Speaker 4 (01:41:46):
Bye.
Speaker 3 (01:41:47):
I'm gonna go with the home team here and the Chargers.
Speaker 6 (01:41:52):
Neither offense really blows me away, But I think the
Chargers have more talent on offense than pitts Burgh does.
Speaker 7 (01:42:01):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:42:01):
And you know, I like the way that Harball coaches
this team. Herbert has been doing what he needs to
do this year to win games. I think that continues.
I think they beat Pittsburgh. I think this line's right
where it should be.
Speaker 4 (01:42:13):
Though, I'm taking the Chargers minus three. I'm just still
not believing in Pittsburgh. I'm just not buying it. Defense
is not good enough. I know what happened last week,
but that that's such an operation from everything that before that.
The one thing they we're doing is creating a ton
of turnovers, which is huge in the league. But yeah,
I like I like the home team, Mike. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:42:32):
The stat that I and my initial thought would be
to take the Chargers. It's home a night game. You know,
Jim Harbor all those things, and I agree with everything
you say about Pittsburgh, but we'll say this. The Chargers
two tackles are out for the season because they just
put all down lost the other guy. Pittsburgh's gonna come
after him. They're gonna and sometimes the Chargers quarterback can
(01:42:53):
be really good. Sometimes he cannot be as good. Hate
myself for doing this, but I'm going to take the
Steelers get in the three and just figured it's going
to come.
Speaker 5 (01:43:05):
Down to the end of the game and hopefully all get.
Speaker 4 (01:43:09):
John.
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
Yeah, it could come down to the end, but I
just don't like how Pittsburgh had six turnovers and still
it was difficult to win that. Cults are good, but
it took a lot for that to happen. Chargers aren't
going to have six turnovers. I think Chargers playing clean game.
They win this game. I like them laying the two
and a half.
Speaker 7 (01:43:27):
Yeah, you're probably right, three. I might need that half points.
I might need that twenty seven and a half point
not quite be enough.
Speaker 4 (01:43:44):
I like it all right, Sean, We're you're gonna go.
Sean Bernard jumped in for a couples last couple moments
of the show, Sean bed a tough week for the Sixers,
a huge lead against the Bulls, gave it up and
then the next night the back to back, it was
not going to work at Cleveland tonight against the Raptors.
Where are they in general? And how toup awakeness this been?
Speaker 3 (01:44:03):
Yeah, definitely the Bulls loss. That one stuck.
Speaker 8 (01:44:06):
That one's absolutely it was awful there up twenty four
and blowing it in the fourth quarter, and they've been
on the other end of this sort of comes back
for the start of the season here, So that one
was this pointing sort of bled into the Cavaliers game
with a back to back, and we know the deal
with your getting embid for one of the two. At
this point, the expectation is he'll play tonight, rest tomorrow
for this back to back. Here at the end of
the day, there's still five and three. I think they've
(01:44:26):
still exceeded expectations. A larger conversation something not hitting the
panic button by any means, but uh, I will say
the amount of minutes that they're putting on Maxi and
edgecomb right now is insane. So they needed to get
McCain back up the speed and ready to log a
little bit of that workload.
Speaker 4 (01:44:41):
John, what are you thinking as you're watching the Sixers
so far? I mean, I agree with what Sean said.
I think they've exceeded expectations. Just unfortunately they didn't win
the Bulls game or you feel better, Mark.
Speaker 3 (01:44:51):
Yeah, pretty much.
Speaker 5 (01:44:52):
But they won the Celtics game, so they kind of
even out. They like twenty four in that game.
Speaker 4 (01:44:57):
Yeah, and in Washington and right right right.
Speaker 5 (01:45:01):
So that's the NBA.
Speaker 4 (01:45:03):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
Yeah, they just seem to have this thing in the
third quarter and they're gonna have to figure that out.
But like in large, most of it's all positive, and
like the back court, it's it's just a young, great backcourt.
And I think as long as they have that like
as the backbone of their team.
Speaker 5 (01:45:16):
And they'll have more. Yeah, right, They've got McCain coming.
Speaker 2 (01:45:19):
And so I I just I think it'll get better.
I've been really urged. I don't think the last two
games has to be any indictment Sewing.
Speaker 7 (01:45:25):
I would tell you don't panic all year, Sean, because
nothing that's going to happen should be reasoned to pen.
Speaker 3 (01:45:30):
There's a championship. I as you're gonna.
Speaker 7 (01:45:34):
Be fine this year. It's going to be way better
than last year. But the thing that bothered me in
the Bulls game was those last six minutes terrible. You
gotta score a field goal or something.
Speaker 3 (01:45:43):
Would they shoot twelve percent?
Speaker 5 (01:45:45):
Bothered me some of their.
Speaker 7 (01:45:46):
Playoff losses where they just you know, if they get
one or two buckets somewhere along the line, they probably
win that game.
Speaker 5 (01:45:52):
Yeah, And that's what bothered me.
Speaker 8 (01:45:54):
And what was concerned like that that specifically is they've
leaned so heavily into like this team off fence where
the balls pop and there's all this motion. That was
the first time all year where that completely stopped. And
I don't even necessarily think that was all on Embeid
like Tyrese Max was just as guilty as that down
the stretch. But they can't have that that They've found
a little bit of a new identity of let's let's
move the ball, let's get up fast pace, all this stuff,
(01:46:15):
and that absolutely froze for the final six minutes.
Speaker 7 (01:46:17):
So that can't happen again.
Speaker 3 (01:46:18):
Yeah, they tried to play hero ball, I think down
the stretch too much.
Speaker 4 (01:46:21):
Yeah, no good, We need to get out of here.
It's been a fun show. As always.
Speaker 5 (01:46:26):
We'll see enjoy your game, Dick.
Speaker 4 (01:46:29):
We'll do Huge Chargers. I kept asking all day what
their nickname is, and I'm looking right at their gym
where it says home of the Chargers. What's going on?
Many other than that, it's been a fun show. You
