Have you ever felt like your past disqualifies you from a better future? That your mistakes have permanently set your path? Today, we're flipping the script on traditional comeback strategies to explore something far more powerful: redemption.

This isn't about soft, sentimental hope. We're diving into the gritty, raw, sometimes tear-stained hope that gets you out of bed when everything behind you lies in ashes. Through the powerful biblical story of Rahab—a woman with a notorious reputation who became part of Jesus's genealogy—we discover that God doesn't just save us from our past; He transforms it into something beautiful.

The waiting is perhaps the hardest part. When you've been playing the long game through hurt, betrayal, or even periods of deafening silence, redemption can feel impossibly distant. Yet as we explore Rahab's journey from prostitute to ancestress of Christ, three transformative truths emerge: your label is not your legacy, redemption rewrites your entire narrative (not just a chapter), and God often shows up in the middle of your story, not just at the end.

When the walls of your own Jericho seem insurmountable, remember that God specializes in bringing them down. Your comeback isn't late—it's in process. If you're exhausted from trying to orchestrate your own redemption, perhaps it's time to be still and let God fight for you. Ready to embrace hope on purpose, even when it's hard? There's still time left on the clock. Let's get you off the bench to start your comeback.

Let's create your transition gameplan:

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is there a major life transition benching you?
I know you may be asking what'snext?
What's my purpose?
What if?
Because I've asked those too.
Welcome to the Start yourComeback Podcast.
I'm Toni Thrash, a certifiedlife coach, and I want to share
the tools and practical steps tohelp you create a winning game

(00:23):
plan to move into your newadventure.
Hi, welcome back.

(00:57):
You are listening to episode 82.
Most weeks I'm here giving yousteps, strategies and what not
to do's, but today we're goingto flip the script just a bit.
I want to talk about somethingthat has no step-by-step formula
, it doesn't have a perfecttimeline for us anyway and it

(01:20):
doesn't have a tidy checklist.
Today I want to talk aboutredemption.
I'm not talking about a soft, sentimental version of hope.
I'm talking about the gritty, raw, sometimes tear stained hope
that gets you out of bed anddares you to believe God still
has something good coming.

(01:42):
Still has something good coming, even if everything behind you
is in ashes.
This weekend I witnessed Godmassively deliver redemption.
You could sense it because theair in the room was different.
But when you've been playingthe long game navigating hurt,

(02:03):
playing the long game, navigating hurt, even silence
Then the healing starts and theneverything in between.
You beg God to make it right, redeem what has been taken from
me.
But this weekend, oh, thisweekend, you see, when you allow
God to navigate your life andwalk alongside you, he delivers

(02:27):
redemption that has been yearsin the waiting.
Did you hear that?
Years in the waiting?
Redemption, not the flashy kind, not the one with the neon sign
flashing, but the faithful kind, the quiet kind, the kind that

(02:48):
lasts.
One of my favorite scriptures isExodus 14, 14, and it says the
Lord will fight for you.
You only need to be still.
Some versions say silent, butlet's be real.
Silence is hard when peoplehave misunderstood you, when

(03:11):
your name has been draggedthrough the mud, or when you've
had to co-parent with chaos.
But God says to be still, orsilent, and let Him do what only
he can do, or silent, and lethim do what only he can do.
Now this brings me to one ofthe most powerful redemption
stories in all of scripture.

(03:31):
Don't laugh when you hear it,but it truly is one of my
favorites, and it's the story ofRahab.
I'm not trying to draw a linebetween the story and what I saw
this weekend, because obviouslyRahab's story stands on its own
, because when you've beenthrough heartbreak, betrayal or

(03:51):
loss, you understand somethingredemption doesn't knock
politely or show up on a tidyschedule.
It often comes crashing in whenyou least expect it, just like
it did for Rahab, and that's thekind of hope I want to talk
about today.
You see, rahab had a past.
She had a label.

(04:13):
She was known in her town as aprostitute.
No hiding it, no sugarcoatingit.
Her name came with shameattached.
But when the moment came forher to choose faith, she did.
Because in Joshua, chapter 2,rahab hid the Israelite spies,

(04:33):
risking her life because shebelieved in a God she had only
heard about.
Remember faith comes fromhearing.
Remember, faith comes fromhearing.
Ahab said in Joshua 2, verse 11, the Lord, your God, is God in
heaven above and on the earthbelow.
Let's say it plainly Eventhough Rahab had a reputation,

(04:59):
she also had revelation.
She didn't just believe, sheacted.
And because of that, when thewalls of Jericho came crashing
down, her family was spared.
But that's not the redemptionthat I'm talking about.
That's not the end of her story.
You see, god didn't just saveher, he honored her, he grafted

(05:24):
her into the family of Israel.
She married, she had childrenand generations.
Later, rahab's name shows up inMatthew 1 in the genealogy of
Jesus.
Yes, the Messiah came throughthe bloodline of a woman
everyone else had written off.
That is redemption, and if hedid that for Rahab, he can do it

(05:50):
for you.
You may feel like your pastdisqualifies you.
You may think your mistakes oryour marriage, your pain or your
silence have set your future instone.
But I'm telling you today Godrewrites stories.
He turns broken beginnings intoholy legacies.

(06:12):
He makes the former outcast acornerstone.
Just look at Rahab.
There are three truths that Iwant you to hold on to today.
Number one your label is notyour legacy.
Rahab was remembered for herfaith.

(06:32):
The world may keep score, butGod keeps your purpose.
Number two redemption rewritesthe entire narrative, not just a
chapter, not just a last page.
Rahab's story didn't end withhiding spies.
It ended with her name woveninto Jesus's family line.

(06:55):
Number three redemption oftenshows up in the middle and not
the end.
You see, rahab made the boldestmove when the walls hadn't
fallen yet.
You may be in the thick of yourown Jericho right now, but
trust me, the walls will fall.

(07:17):
If you're waiting on your ownredemption story, don't give up,
because it's taking longer thanyou thought.
God is not slow.
He's intentional and histimeline is perfect.
Your comeback isn't late.
It's in the process.
If you're tired of trying tofix it all yourself, if you're

(07:40):
ready to trust that God is stillriding, then maybe it's time to
start your comeback.
Let's talk.
Coaching with me isn't aboutpretending things are fine.
It's about getting real, makingspace for healing and choosing
hope on purpose.
Even when it's hard, you're nottoo far gone, you're not too

(08:03):
broken and redemption is neverout of reach.
I'll see you next time.
Hey, thanks for listening.
