Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is there a major life transition benching you?
I know you may be asking what'snext?
What's my purpose?
What if?
Because I've asked those too.
Welcome to the Start yourComeback podcast.
I'm Toni Thrash, a certifiedlife coach, and I want to share
the tools and practical steps tohelp you create a winning game

(00:23):
plan to move into your newadventure.
Hi, welcome back.

(00:57):
You're listening to episode 89.
For the past few weeks, we'vebeen deep in the trenches,
talking through doubt,decision-making and what it
really feels like to sit in thethick of transition.
Some of you are navigatingdivorce, some are staring down
an empty nest and some aretrying to make sense of a career

(01:19):
that no longer fits or a futurethat looks nothing like what
you had planned.
Here's the truth.
Transition is uncomfortable,it's messy and it doesn't show
up with a clean checklist andeasy answers.
But you don't have to gothrough it empty-handed.
Today I want to share somethingpractical, something you can

(01:42):
reach for when the ground startsshifting again or as it's
shifting out from under youright now.
This episode is all aboutresources for those of us in
transition.
There's books and podcasts andtherapists who can help you walk
it out with more strength and alittle more clarity.

(02:03):
But let's start with therapyFirst.
Let's remove the shame.
You don't have to be in acrisis to seek help.
In fact, if you're intransition, it's smart, it's
mature even to have a soundingboard.
Therapy saved my life.

(02:23):
Therapy saved my life.
So I'm going to give you a fewcontacts, a few solutions for
the therapy part of this podcast.
Todd Daynard he's my personaltherapist.
I trust him implicitly and justso you know, all of these

(02:45):
contacts will be in the shownotes.
Let's talk about my therapist, todd Daynard.
Todd literally saved my life.
God used him to speak to me andcounsel me and show me things
that I was very blind to.
He's obviously someone Ipersonally trust.

(03:07):
The second place is your churchhome.
Yes, it's still one of the bestplaces to find solid,
faith-based counselors who getboth the spiritual and emotional
weight of what you're walkingthrough.
And the thing is is, if yourchurch home doesn't have someone
who can immediately help you, they have a long list of trusted

(03:28):
counselors and therapists.
They can provide for youcounselors and therapists.
They can provide for youPlanting Seeds, counseling and
Coaching.
They are located in Frisco andin Prosper.
I've seen the good work theyare doing in our community,

(03:51):

I'll leave all of thisinformation in the show notes
for you to grab.
Remember this is anon-negotiable for me.
Like you, must go to therapy.
Now let's talk about a few booksthat I have read over the
course of the last 11 years.
These are not books that I justpulled off of a reading list,

(04:17):
but I have highlighted dog-eared, and they have traveled with me
through some of my hardesttransitions over the last 11
years.
The first one is it's NotSupposed to Be this Way by Lisa
Turkhurst.
It's raw, real and full ofreminders that God isn't absent
in our disappointments.
A great read.
You Will Get Through this.

(04:38):
By Max Lucado A gentle,truth-filled nudge that survival
is possible and so is joy whenyou get to the other side.

you're trying to rediscoveryour purpose after the kids have

(04:58):
moved out.

She'll remind you thatvulnerability isn't weakness,
it's the birthplace of strengthand leadership.
It's the birthplace of strengthand leadership.
Okay, and yes, here's just a fewpodcasts to help as well.
I mean, you're alreadylistening to one, so here are

(05:40):
just a few more I recommendadding to your rotation.
Now, please understand, thereare hundreds, if not thousands,
of podcasts.
If you don't like the ones Imentioned, please find some that
will.
I would love to know what thoseare so that I can share those
with my clients.
The first one is retired.

(06:01):
Now what the retirement answerplan If your transition involves
stepping away from theworkforce or shifting into a
slower pace of life?
These are solid.

heartbreak of separation withfaith in the mix, divorce Etc,

(06:25):

tips and empowering insights foranyone facing or rebuilding
after divorce.
They're direct, no fluff, andit's the kind of resource I wish
more people had in their backpocket early on.
Here's the deal you don't haveto use every resource.

(06:48):
In fact, you may not like myresources, but you do need to
use something.
Don't white knuckle your waythrough a transition.
Don't believe the lie thatyou've got to be strong and go
it alone.
If you're rebuilding, if you'regrieving, you're redefining or

(07:09):
just trying to make it throughthe day, you're not weak for
needing help.
You're extremely wise.
Before I wrap up, I want toshare something personal.
I've got something exciting inthe works.
