It’s not what you think. It’s actually part of life - we need to feel our negative emotions and by doing that we will lose weight. Listen to the episode to find out exactly how. Inspired by Louis Hay in my own experiences.

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hey guys, how are you doing today?
I want to convince you to feelyour terrible emotions and
really feel them for a whilebecause there's really good
benefits to it and one of themis weight loss.
So this is how I connected thedots.
You know how I love Louise Hayand so I love decoding emotions.

(00:23):
kind of the physicalmanifestations to how they're
connected to the mind.
And this is what I've discoveredis that...
So a couple of different angles.
One angle is extra weight is ourprotection from something we're
afraid of.
And I believe this is one of thethings that we can be afraid of

(00:48):
is...
negative terrible emotions thatwe don't want to feel and
therefore we avoid feeling themwe kind of like put them off or
we resist them and we don't feelthem and so that contributes to
us having that extra weight thatprotects us right because we you

(01:08):
know to distract ourselves fromthese terrible emotions we eat
so that gives us extra weightright so that's one way we can
benefit from feeling terriblethings.
Another way is by feelingterrible things, we teach
ourselves that there's nothingterrible about them.

(01:31):
And in fact, it's harmless andwe can feel them.
So we kind of teach ourselvesthat we are no longer afraid of
them.
Okay.
So another way approach to thisand this was okay this is me
being sharing sharing a littletoo much is if you're

(01:51):
constipated another um louisehay interpretation for
constipation is emotions arebeing backed up experiences
backing up that means you're notprocessing what's happening and
They're literally backing upphysically and emotionally.

(02:12):
And believe me, as I'm losingweight and as I had to start
feeling my terrible emotions, and this is not the first time,
I often feel emotionally backedup.
And then I feel I need to vent.
I need to process them.
I need to feel them.
And then I feel so much better.

(02:33):
But this was the first time thatI felt it.
Well, this is one of the effectsthat fasting can have on people
is maybe not enough water or notenough fiber can result in
constipation.
But also at the same time, see,as if we take away one of our
distractions, which could beeating food, and we're faced

(02:57):
with our feelings, our terriblefeelings sometimes we have, we
start, we have a choice.
Do we process them or do we kindof ignore them and put them to
the side?
Well, that's what has beenhappening with me for the last
40 years.

(03:18):
six days.
I'm on this, doing this app, counting my fasting days.
And it's been almost, yeah, 46days.
So I've been on this journey ofreleasing the fears, releasing
the processing emotions, whichI'm pretty practiced that I must
say, thanks to coaching, I amreally good at detecting like,

(03:41):
oh my gosh, I really need tofeel this and then let it go.
So I want to kind of invite youto not get backed up with your
terrible emotions.
This will help you lose, well, constipation weight.
This will help you lose weightweight because you will

(04:02):
literally be eating less becauseyou're not trying to distract
yourself and you will not needthat extra padding to protect
you from all the scary thingsout there, including your
emotions.
So, That's my sell to you today.
And I've found that fastingreally brings you closer to your

(04:28):
emotions because that's all youhave, right?
When you're not eating, youknow, 18 to 22 hours a day and
you're not distracted by it,you're not planning it, you're
not cooking it, you're nottasting it.
And you, I, you know, have to,Figure out, okay, what do I do

(04:48):
with my boredom?
What do I do with, where do Ichannel my excitement?
What am I afraid of?
How do I deal with myfrustrations?
How do I solve my problems, etcetera?
How do I deal with me beingdisappointed in me in certain
areas, especially my parenting?
All these things, thefrustration with the kids, like

(05:10):
frustration with their mannersor what they're doing or what
they're not doing, all thosethings, are just there,
completely unmasked by anything.
No food, no alcohol.
Well, I don't drink, but nodrugs, nothing, right?
No social media.

(05:31):
And that's really a great setupfor doing scary things, which is
scary emotions.
Okay, guys, let me know whatcomes up for you when you hear
this.
I I would love to connect withsome of you who are really into

(05:51):
Louise Hay because I think it'sso fascinating to connect these
physical things with things inour mind.
I find that she is bang on each, every single time I have
something and I look it up andI'm amazed.
It's like she knows me and Ithink, how did she know that?
That's crazy.
All right, guys, have a greatday.

(06:12):
And remember, you can alwaystext me or email me and I will
talk to you soon.

UNKNOWN (06:18):
Bye.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
