Let us know what you enjoy about the show!

When the lights go out and the world falls silent, what powers flicker within you? Join me, Lisa Hopkins, on a journey to uncover the essence of personal power that goes beyond the struggle and resistance we often hear about. In a world obsessed with being 'on' all the time, we'll explore the strength found in stillness, the energy ignited by what 'lights us up', and how true empowerment can transform our daily lives. This episode isn't just about overcoming the darkness of a power outage; it's an invitation to connect with the warmth of your inner flame.

During our discussion, we'll challenge the conventional narrative of empowerment that glorifies constant battle. Let's discover together how the unexpected sources of power—like silence, listening, and reflection—can lead us to a more balanced and authentic sense of self. It's not about being 'on' all the time; it's about recognizing the nuances of personal power and harnessing that energy to live fully in each moment. So, curl up by the fire, or wherever you find your peace, and get ready for an inspiring reminder to stay connected to what truly matters.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
We lose power every now and then at the lake,
usually due to high winds orsnow.
I never really mind it,especially in the winter,
because we crank up our woodstove and cook our meals
fireside.
It's always a great reminder ofwhat's truly important in life,
to what we actually need tolive, and the darkness that

(00:25):
accompanies a power outageshines light on how very
grateful we can be that we haveheat at all, let alone a roof
over our heads, bottled waterand food to put on the wood
stove.
It's also worth noticing thatby taking away what we are
privileged enough to have on theoutside, in this case power, we

(00:49):
clear the way to slow down andconnect more deeply with our
values, with what's on theinside.
But it's not electrical power Iwant to talk about today.
Electrical power I want to talkabout today, it's personal
power.

(01:10):
So I have a question for youwhat does it look like when you
are in your power, when you arefeeling empowered?
Go ahead and paint a picture inyour head.

(01:30):
I'm curious to know if youconjured an image of yourself
overcoming adversity, standingup against some injustice,
battling the naysayers or theestablishment.
I'm guessing if you are likemany folks I've encountered
lately.
You might be defining yourpersonal power based on winning

(01:54):
some kind of oppositional forceor uphill life battle, but have
you ever considered whatstrength looks like when you
aren't fighting for, with oragainst something, how being in
your power does not only existwhen you are leading the charge

(02:16):
or proving your worth?
Have you ever considered that?
What's coming up for you?
Consider that, what's coming upfor you.
How has your definition ofpower or empowerment actually
been holding you back fromtapping into how truly powerful

(02:37):
you really are?
There is massive power insilence.
There is massive power inlistening.
There is unlimited power inbeing able to listen without

(03:04):
judgment.
Limited power in being able tolisten without judgment, and
when you listen without judgment, that does not mean that you
agree, and that's where thepower is.
Unlike the power outages at mycottage, personal power is not

(03:26):
either off or on.
What nuances are we missing byexpecting ourselves to be on all
the time?
Let's be real.
Even if you could, why wouldyou want to?
Sometimes, a bright, fullintensity bulb is just what you

(03:46):
need to shine light on somethingto make it more clear.
Other times, though, brightlight can dampen the mood, can
be too much.
Have you ever noticed how muchmore relaxing a bath can be with
the lights dimmed.
No, seriously, guys, whatlights you up?
At the end of the day, that'swhat's important.

(04:07):
What lights you up?
Think about it.
Think about it now.
How does that make you feel?
Can you feel how you feel whenyou think about what lights you
up?
And if you can't figure it out, then go find out what lights

(04:32):
you up, because that, that, myfriends, is where your power
lies.
I'm Lisa Hopkins.
Thanks so much for listening.
Stay safe and healthy, everyone, and remember to live in the
moment.
