As long as we let the Word of God be our only armor, we can look confidently into the future. — Dietrich Bonhoeffer     Luke 8   4 And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable,    5 “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it.    6 And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture.    7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it.    8 And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.” As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”     11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.    12 The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.    13 And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away.    14 And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.    15 As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.         The Word of God      The Sower     Stolen Seed      What has the devil taken from you?         Ephesians 6   10 To end my letter I tell you, be strong in the Lord and in his great power.    11 Wear the full armor of God. Wear God’s armor so that you can fight against the devil’s clever tricks.    12 Our fight is not against people on earth. We are fighting against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness. We are fighting against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly places.    13 That is why you need to get God’s full armor. Then on the day of evil, you will be able to stand strong. And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing.   14 So stand strong with the belt of truth tied around your waist, and on your chest wear the protection of right living.    15 On your feet wear the Good News of peace to help you stand strong.    16 And also use the shield of faith with which you can stop all the burning arrows that come from the Evil One.    17 Accept God’s salvation as your helmet. And take the sword of the Spirit—that sword is the teaching of God.    18 Pray in the Spirit at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers, and ask for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?    15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent?
