Speaker 1 (00:13):
What's up everyone out there, Internet Land, and welcome to
episode four twenty two of the Straight Shooters Available Wherever
podcast so found. My name is von On Johnson and
I'm joined as always but my main man Pots and Pans,
Nipple Cone of Fox, phl the Gambler and Philly Influencer,
and we have yet another fantastic show ahead of us
here on episode four twenty two. It is a deep dive.
(00:36):
We are diving deep into the February twenty first, two
thousand and five episode of Monday Night Raw. We're sticking
with the two thousand and five theme, okay, which has
been rough for us so far given the War Rumble
and New Year's Revolution. But we're on Raw and it's
a monumental episode. It is the episode with Batista the sides,
(00:59):
which chance he will face at WrestleMania. Will it be
Triple H on Raw for the Word Heavyweight Championship or
will it be SmackDown's John Bradshaw Lafield slash John Cena
because he is also involved in this as well. We'll
find out later on in our deep dive spoiler it
was Triple H, but we'll talk about it all here
on episode four twenty two in Our Deep Dive a
(01:20):
little later on in the show, but before that, before
we get into any of that, including current nonsense, current
day nonsense, which there's a lot of. I gotta do
my weekly check on my main man, pots and pans. Nick,
How are you in this lovely Wednesday evening, rainy Wednesday evening?
My good brother.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Supposed to be in the seventies a week from today.
I don't know how I feel about that. I'm sure
you like it, but I'm kind of annoyed because again,
we don't get to just slowly make our way into
another season, and with you know, increasing temperatures, we're just
(01:59):
well right into it.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
I actually agree with you. I don't not here. I
was looking forward to, like fifties and sixties for that.
I like jacket weather. Come on, jacket Weather's cool for me.
The out of here on seventies. Neither brother, you know.
But even though I will say I didn't mind it
down in New Orleans for this, it wasn't it wasn't
it was nice. I was pulling off some fits and everything.
I did enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
When I came back home, though, like I get it,
but I don't go out so it's fair.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
But I came back home, I was like, man, I
can't wear none of that stuff no more. It's cold now,
it's so cold, I can't do anything here.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
So but yes, I imagine if it was cold during this
storm today, man, could have been like a blizzard or
something because we got walloped.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah. I think I saw a headline from the Inquire
that said, uh, like the most rain we've had since
like June. Today, it was bad, go bad out there,
but everywhere. Yeah, yeah, it might be. But and if
you are affected by that, that's unfortunately. We feel bad
for you, of course, and our sympathies. But let's talk
(03:10):
about some current day nonsense outside of the weather. Okay,
some Eagles players got paid. Yes, now, say Sean, Say
Sean Barkley got paid twenty million dollars running back, the
first in NFL history. That's that's that's huge, wild, it's huge.
I think it's deserved. And he's a pactful player on
(03:30):
the team. You can't justify not paying him twenty million
dollars out side of like he's a running back. But like, yeah,
he's pretty good this year though, Bro, it's good, you know,
twenty five hundred yards most in NFL history.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
You know, listen, if they can't make those crazy runs,
then at least block on the blitz and give Jalalen
a shot. So that was sorely missing last year's well
two years ago now. So yeah, he does it all.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Does a lot, So him and Zach bone and got paid,
which I'm not surprised by. They had to keep him
that he was going to be the cornerstone of that defense,
at least in the middle of that defense for many
years to come, they hope.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Shout out to Zach Berman for calling that. On from
PHLs Sports, he there was a clip where he had
made the call that the Eagles were going to re
sign Zach Faults from March fifth on February twenty first,
I think it was he said that, Oh.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
He said it on March fifth. Well, I guess that
this is like the first day of the legal tampering
period or.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Something like that. So he's like, so as soon as
they got an opportunity, they ain't gonna let him walk.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Exactly I feel. I mean, I agree with Zach Berman
on that. I thought for sure that for one, Saquon
in the back of my head is like Saquon was
probably going to have to get an extension because of
this past season. He far out played that contract. Uh,
So he could have held out this coming season because
he far out played that contract and it would have
been warranted if they didn't want to pay him more.
(04:58):
They did, and I think that was the right thing
to do. So, But was that I think Zach Porne
was the top free agent to pretend pending free agent
for them for sure. Yeah, and then Dominos will fall
from there. So whether they keep Josh Sweat Mill Williams,
I wasn't as clear about those two guys. I'm not
as clear, but I was pretty certain that they're gonna
keep Jack Bond on the roster for sure.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Playmaking linebackers since Trotter.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
It's been many, many, many years.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Even Tamika Ryan's was okay that he wasn't Trotter. So
it's like the last like big name linebacker I feel
like we had.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yeah, it's been a while, it's been a while, shifting
gears to pro wrestling and that current day nonsense. Uh,
we got a big television rights deal announcement today straight
out of aw They're going to be on Prime, Amazon Prime.
That is starting with ae W Revolution, but no, it
(05:55):
is not part of your prime subscription. It will still
cost extra money as if it's like a per view.
So that's interesting because that's not necessarily what happens a
lot of places. But it has happened though, specifically with
UFC and ESPN where UFC is on ESPN Plus but
you got to pay extra to watch their major pay
(06:16):
per views. So this is not necessarily uncommon. But you know,
I would assume that AW didn't necessarily secure a massive
amount of money for this deal neither, So maybe that's
part of it. Maybe I don't know, because it's talked
about it's like a major distribution deal, which is what
(06:36):
it is. It's a major distribution deal.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah. All it is is, hey, you can pay us
on this platform now. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Yeah, I don't know how that works as far as who,
you know, how money was has been exchanged, whether that's
you know, if it's going one way or the other,
I don't know. But it's just another avenue for you
to be able to order AW Revolution, which is this weekend,
and it's pretty stacked card if you ask.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Me, Uh, I feel like, you know, oh, big boom
AJ's back. Oh look at that now on on the
pre show, I just liked that for the first time. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Ever, I was looking at the card as you said that,
I noticed that. But on the main card they got
some bangers or potential bangers, I should say. Uh. I
mean the main event is Moxley versus Cope, that's the thing.
But uh, they got the Hollywood ending with Tony Storm
and Mariah Man. You got mjf Adam Page, Swerve and Ricochet.
(07:35):
I think multiple stories have been built, you know, pretty
well in my opinion, Takesha and Kenny Omega will see
how that goes. Hert Syndicate versus the Outrunners, that seems interesting.
Ospray versus Kyle Fletcher, still Cage, my goodness. Even Mercedes
and Watanabe sounds seems interesting. I'm in. I'm in for
(07:57):
all of it. So it's a good show, just out
off on Prime. It seems like on paper at least
aw it is on a Sunday, and you know, we're
both on the same page as far as like Saturday
shows is the way to go typically for us, but
(08:17):
they're sticking with the Sunday format. I would still I mean,
right now, you don't have to worry about football or
anything like that. No college football. I tried to do saturdays.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
College basketball not there yet, so it's not said spot.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
It's it's it's and we're getting to college basketball. I
mean we're getting conference tournaments. I think this week. I
think women's tournaments start this week, and I think a
men's tournament start this week, starts this week as well,
So I think the CIA starts early so and then
women's tournaments direct next week.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
So that's what I have a vested interest in the
well the East, so.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
That's fair, that's fair for work purposes. But well same,
I guess we both do in that respect. But the
CIA starts with Drexel I think this Saturday, if I
remember correctly. But either way, we're getting there. We're getting closed.
But i'd still on Saturdays. What why not? But they're
doing Sundays and that's fine. I guess you know, we've
(09:14):
we've done this before. I just always worry about it
doing like football season, Like if you can get off
Sunday nights, do that they get away from Sunday night
football if you can. It's a monster. Talk about thirty million,
thirty million viewers a week apparently, so like get away
from that. But it's it's never a bad thing to
be involved with something is, you know, for better for worse.
(09:36):
I know some people don't love Amazon and what they do,
but it is a widely known brand and a watch
into mainstream commodity, you know, for obvious reasons. So to
have AW associated with it is a good look for
AAW in the long run, even if it you know,
I don't know what kind of deal it is just
you know, just a distribution deal whatever. They hopefully AW
(09:59):
made as much money as they could off it. I
don't know, but because those that wasn't in the press
release and now I don't think that's been reported anywhere,
but uh, that that I've seen at least. But good
for AW for securing another distribution channel for their content,
and I think Revolution this weekend is a good start
for that. But in WWE Land, we might potentially have
(10:21):
some issues at the top of the card because in
the midst of one of the hottest angles WW is
done in quite some time, The Golden Goose, Cody Roads,
the American Nightmare, the Man, the WW champion reportedly got hurt.
Oh no, no, it's his ear drum reportedly according to
(10:47):
David Meltzer, I said David Meltzer full the government named
Dave Meltzer reported a ruptured his ear drum as a
result of a slap from of all people, Travis.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Scott took a stiff shot and.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
There's video of this shot. Oh my goodness. He slept
at daylights out of Cody. And you gotta remember, Travis
Scott is not a trained wrestler. I'm sure they you know,
they talked to him like, hey man, you're gonna get
one shot, make it count, and you know, here's the
way you could do that. But again they probably they
probably did everything they could to make sure it was
(11:29):
safely done, and it still went wrong.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
If this, like why go near the ear? Like even well, man,
he's not a pro, not him, And in general, if
you're doing something like that, like you.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Get get out there, man, you get out there, you
get all, you know, hyped up on the emotion and
the adrenaline rush that is this major angle. Maybe missed the
mark a little bit because of that. If this report
is to be true, we don't know.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
That he thought he was the final balls.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
He felt he felt like it, He felt like the
man in that moment if this was true again, uh,
and and he did do on that video at the
very least, I saw.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
What I saw Cody's reaction right away. Yeah, Like I.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Don't need to know the extent of the injury to
know that Travis Scott got a good looking on Cody.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
He hit him.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Good and even the rock set after the show. I
didn't watch his live, but I saw a clip after
and he was like he slapped it, you know what
out of Cody, Like he wasn't lying, boy, because that
was a wa across the face. What did the five
fingers say to the ear drum potentially.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Before? They are not fun?
Speaker 1 (12:47):
That's it's wild. Who knows like how that can affect
him long term if this is the case, and again
this is all reportedly Yeah, also horrific timing, Like if
it's a if it's a potentially long term thing, we
don't know. Again, we don't know if it's even a thing.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
But I think he was advertised for SmackDown.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
That that would that would say that this is not
a potentially long term thing. If he's going to appear
on Smashdown right here in right be there? Possibly not possibly,
but I wouldn't mind being in the building. But you know,
if he, like you said, he was good enough to
travel and to be in a building with you know,
(13:33):
tens of thousands of people yelling in Piro, we would
assume that he's okay. But like right, whoa all that?
You know, you would assume he's okay. But again that
is for Friday, not today, and you record this, but
time will tell elsewhere on in ww we got a
(13:56):
new w W Women's World Champion.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
What they did?
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Something did not see that coming?
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
We are on the road to WrestleMania, y'all. We're there.
We are on it.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
I guess Sky was Ria Ripley's roadblock, and.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
No, Sky is in the fast ling. He said, we
gotta a compliment each other, you know what I'm saying.
We got vibe off each other. But yes, Eel Sky
is the Women's World Champion, and as of right now,
the match at WrestleMania is Eo Sky versus Bianca Blaire
(14:42):
for the title, and Real Ripley is on the outside
looking in.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
M hmm.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
I would assume in the long run she makes her
way into this match, maybe she invokes a rematch clause,
which I don't think WW has really used a ton.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Definitely hasn't been a crutch lately.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Not that I can recall, because it feels like it
was always the way to get a rematch out of
a few back in the day. Yeah, it's like three,
you get to have like three matches to change the title.
Then you gotta do the rematch, but even then they
might be a screwy finished and then you gotta do
it again. It'd be like you gotta be somebody three
times to win the title. It's crazy, but yeah, thoughts
(15:28):
on el Sky being a new women's World champion.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
I think this helps everyone, Like when when you do
something like this. I think it was a perfect storm
where you're able to do this. And I know, I
don't know if they will show it on I don't
assume they would at least show it on SmackDown. But
Ria after did like an interview backstage and was blaming herself.
You know, she took up for granted stuff like that,
(15:54):
so she's like blaming herself and stuff, and I like that.
It shows some you know, how her character will change,
you know, as we move forward and whether she whether
it becomes a triple threat or she just they have
the EO skyvers Beyonca match, and then Rhya and Beyonca
down the road if Bianca were to win. You know,
(16:17):
it just shakes things up where through the years we
just kind of want it. So I was like, okay,
we know everything in January and it's like, okay, we're
the TV the really the only thing good on TV
is the promos to kind of build to it. And
(16:37):
now we have like an actual story to not I
say story, but I mean, like, you know, in terms
of matches and championships, changing matches, changing that. I think
it definitely gives it kind of like a shake up
it needed. And listen, a week ago, we were sitting
here like bummed out about the build, you know, and
(16:58):
it's like, let's see how Elimina is Chamber fairs and
then obviously Monday Night roll. So we're here, you know,
a week later and feeling real good about WrestleMania at
this time. So I'm glad they did that. Gave us something.
We're still a month and a half away, so at
least it gave us something.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
It gave it to the women's division some juice.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Man.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
At least one of those championship matches had some juice
you know, going going forward, because you got to imagine,
for one, Bionca and EO is a big matchup by itself,
and then you gotta imagine we're fine to way back
into it somehow. So, uh, a potential triple threat between
these three, like that's dope. Maybe beyond com you know,
wins the title or something like that. You know you're
(17:43):
playing a little hot potato with it, but like sometimes
that works too. We've seen it happen before.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
Where especially with as many titles you have now, like
you don't need the champion to hold it for once.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
A year, you know, right, you don't need a year
long title reign every time, maybe a couple of months.
Team in there is a thing sometimes because again long
title range should be special. They don't happen all the time,
so makes them special. You don't want like weekly title changes,
but you know, and you know you nearly ones need it.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Yeah, you have that story of you know, Ria just
taking a Rye off the ball type thing. It humanizes them,
You relate, you relate to it, and it gives you know,
that character growth as you move forward. I mean that's
you just don't want a dominant person every single match
and kind of loses this luster after a while, not
saying that was what was happening with Rhea, but we're
(18:36):
just we were so used to the ways of W
and even Triple H where it's like, oh, yeah, there's
no there's no chance he knows. We literally left when
EO came out when Ria faced off with Bianca an
elimination chamber, and we kind of like, oh yeah, oh
and EO. Yeah, but here we are.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Yeah, sorry, EO. We ain't mean to write you off.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Like, but I would rather like be made, you know,
to look that way, because it makes it more interesting
on TV.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Yeah, there's a there's an air of unpredictability about it,
at least in this particular sense. There are a lot
of times with WW can be pretty predictable.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
You know.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
They do the kind of the safe thing they I
think leading up to this point, they've been playing it
safe a lot. Uh, and which makes this time kind
of unique because now they're like doing whatever it's title
change on TV, Let's do it. John Sene isn't heal,
Let's do it? See him Punk is cursing people out
on TV. Let's do it. Like Cody told somebody to
go screw himself, right, we got a steel cage match.
(19:36):
People are cussing. Uh. Pat McAfee hates Canada and doesn't
doesn't understand why people in Canada are booming the national anthem,
Read a book, watch the news, bro, What do you
mean you don't understand why? But yeah, they're just flying.
They're just letting it, letting it go, letting it happen,
you know what I'm saying. So I appreciate that as well.
(19:56):
But speaking of like mentioned earlier, to see him punk
promo from Raw where he uh came at Johnson in
the rock's neck.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
I love it is the favorite part of it.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
And then planning some seeds with some matches, you know,
specifically with John Cena, I catch you down the road, sucker,
oh heal Seena and baby Face Punk, like yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
It's great to be like, I'm not gonna forget about you,
but I got the beef over there. I love when
wrestlers do that because yeah, you know, okay, I'm.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Here fit heals seen, and the roles kind of reverse,
even though Punk was pretty much baby Face in twenty eleven,
but the roles kind of reversed, and that you can
do that multiple times and scene that. You can do
that with Orton, you can do that with who else
we got in the roster aj styles. I think he
had matches. But back in the day, maybe Kevin Owens
is a heel. He's still a heel. Uh, But you
(20:57):
can do that, maybe, yeah, you could, you could. You
can try that a couple of times. It's like bizarro
world almost. It's like we're in a different timeline now
where Sina's is crazy. Roman Reigns is another guy you
can do that with. Flip those roles, souh. But then
you know, after seeing Punk comes as everybody, which by
the way, is the best version of see him Punk
(21:18):
when he's angry and righteous and he feels like he's
been wrong and he's, you know, someone say, whining and complaining.
But he's really good at it. He gets some people
fired up.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
I love it when it's like not inside the ring too,
he's like standing on the commentator's table staring down at
the cameraman.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Where he's looking directly at the background.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
It was like great, I love it.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
It was great. And call him bald frauds. He calls
Sena a bald fraud. Killed me because seen his bald
spot also kills me. It kills me to see it
and like I'm young, but like I just I'm not
used to seeing Sena's boss spot.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
It's like it's darring, Like you're not supposed to age, Bro,
what's going on?
Speaker 2 (22:00):
You just getting like his haircut a little bit shorter.
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Maybe it's for the movie role he's filming and they're
not shooting the ball spot in the movie. You never
see it once in the movie.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
But you know that he could wear.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Maybe, but you can edit around it, you can shoot
around it. You can't do it when it's live. You
gotta turn around. At some point that's going to happen.
But after that comes this crazy brawl between see Him
Punk and Seth Rollins, who interrupts him Punk again. It
was just like I love that as like this little
(22:33):
nugget in the story that see It. Seth Rolins consistently
interrupt seeing Punk and seeing Punk always gets like some
type of reaction. Yeah, I'm tired of him again, but
this time he just like Fantasyassic and threw that the
microphone and was ready to fight. I love how seth Rolins,
though almost walked out like he's he's going to start
singing like for like one like a half step. He's like,
(22:54):
oh yeah, I'm Seth Rolins and he saw see him
Punk coming like, oh wait, I kind of fight hold on,
he coming to kill me? So and then they broad
all through through the ringside area. Security guards came down.
The crowd was going crazy. They brought backstage multiple times. Uh,
Seth Rolands like broad mid promo, runs down the hallway.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Through his jacket.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
It was I thought that was really well done. And
they got a cage match next week. How is it
gonna play out? You'd assume that Roman Reigns is coming
for Seth Rollins Square Garden.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Oh mana in the background.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Oh no, Seth Rollins wins. Mm hmmm mmm, because I
remember seeing Punk b Seth Rolands on the Netflix premiere,
so Seth Rolands might be due.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Mm hmmmm mm.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Then you get Roman Rains involved. It's a triple threat
potentially with nothing on the line other than like ego.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
Why, like I know why people are just.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
It's just it's odd. It's it's odd for wrestling because
usually you only see this for championships or even for
like a money in the bank, which is like multi
person match, but like just because everybody hates each other,
you don't usually see that. I'm interested to see how
it plays out because of who's involved and what they've
done so far. I feel like what they've done so
(24:31):
far has been has grabbed me. I'm I'm interested. Between
the seth Rollins and seampunk stuff, which has been playing
out for months, and then let's not forget the Roman
Rains and seampunk stuff. Wich goes back to Survivor series,
and then Roman Rands and seth Rollins goes to the
Royal Rumble, and of course that goes back a decade
with the whole Shield thing, which all three of them
(24:51):
go back that to that point. Remember, seeing Punk is
in storyline responsible for the Shield to even get into
the WWA. He did Hamp pick the members. Remember he
picked Cash his own. Oh he did not pick Roman Reigns.
W W chose Roman Reigns. They've never I don't know.
I don't know if they ever brought that up in
storyline that seeing that Roman Reigns does not seeing Punk's
(25:13):
choice for that group, they're like, no, we need the
big guy to be in this group. In hindsight, they
made the right decision if you ask me.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
But it only took you know, six years, seven eight.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
No, I think they made the make decisions from Johnny Twin.
I think they made the right decision from Jump if
you ask me, I know direspected Chris hero thinks a
great wrestler.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Yeah, I would agree, But.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
I think they make the right decision from the beginning.
Elsewhere in WW some again, once again some not so
great news, or at least news that doesn't paint WW
in a great light. Because this week there will be
a podcast that will debut called The Barely Famous Podcast.
I will feature Carmela where she talks about her time
in WWE, and in the preview that's been released so far,
(26:06):
this is according to u F four w online dot com.
This is why I'm transcribing reading these quotes from Yes So,
I just wanted to know sign off the r L
least you know, uh. But the headline says that I
feel like I'm being punished because I had a baby,
and it's like, WHOA, that's a lot. And that's what
(26:27):
the clips feels and with the clip clips convey and
I'm reading this quote again from Wrestling Observer. It says,
quote Carmelo says, I should say, quote, it just feels
crappy and I'm you know, editing the profanity there feels
like a crappy way to end a twelve year career
with the company. She said, like this is how it ended.
I got a call saying that my contract was up
(26:49):
in ten days dot dot dot, ghosted, ghosted, completely ghosted.
What if this is the end of my career?
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Like?
Speaker 1 (26:56):
What am I doing with my life? What do I
have to offer? Why was not I get even an
opportunity somewhere else? Dot dot dot? I feel like I'm
being punished because I had a baby. Now. The rest
of the story says when the host suggests that WW
could change their minds, Carmela didn't seem interested. Carmela says,
quote would Why would you want to be somewhere that
doesn't want you. I wish more for women in general
(27:18):
and moms, especially athletes. I feel like you shouldn't have
to choose one. Why can't you have both? And the
story ends with Carmela last wrestled in March or twenty
twenty three and gave birth to a son that fall.
She has been suffering from drop foot, a complication from
her pregnancy. So that's a man, that's a that's a
(27:38):
wild one, right there. Man, that's a that's a tough
one because Carmela isn't the first w W Women's roster
member to be pregnant and to come back potentially like
Devi and others like Becky Lynch and Lacy Evans was
one too before she got released eventually, but like some
(28:00):
Blister just recently came back. So there have been others
that have done it in the past, But that doesn't
invalidate Carmela's experience in her feelings neither, right, So some
people were probably quick to point out, all did this
not right? Because ww, this happened here and this happened there,
But that doesn't mean that didn't happen to Carmela. And
(28:23):
I mean you can also look at like a Lacy Evans,
who her push wasn't really the same after she got pregnant. Remember,
she's ready to be like, I think, challenging for its
high World title at WrestleMania, and then she was pregnant
and then she came back. It just wasn't the same.
And then part of that was I think because Vince
McMahon just didn't know how to present her at all.
I remember she came back and she was like a heel,
(28:44):
but she was like praising the military, which is like,
that's gonna make you a baby face.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Well you better respect me because I did this type
of thing, right, So that's I guess the version of
a heel.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
But there's like an error arrogance. But it was like,
also like I have a reverence filling military. It's like, yeah,
a lot of people do. Like it started, we agree
with you.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Like the first few I remember it being like a
feel good type thing, but then as it went on
it was like, oh yeah, she's like kind of flaunting
it and saying like it was it was.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
It was weird either way. It didn't work out in
the long run. But I again, I just my main
feeling is I feel bad for Carmela, honestly, because she's
going through a lot. You know, you have a child,
and well, for one, you go through you have your
you're in your career, you're making a lot of money,
you have a child, and it's a great thing when
you have a child, obviously, but then you have complications
(29:37):
and now you're worried about the welfare of the child,
and you're worried about your own weal welfare, and then
because of that, now you have dropt foot and it's like, what,
like that's also a wild thing to have. I've never
had that, but I'd imagine that affects your mobility is
to some extent, and not to mention your wrestling career,
you know, like, how do you come back from that?
(29:59):
And then this happens that, I'd imagine that sucks. I
imagine she's going through a lot right now. So I
just want to send, you know, I guess loving light
to Carmela. I hope that this, you know, she can
you know, find happiness us out of this somehow, because
it doesn't seem like there is some at the moment,
(30:21):
at least based off these quotes. I'm sure she's maybe
she's happy in her own life. I'm not saying like
she's depressed, nothing like that, But I just I do
it does suck to feel this way. I do. I
do feel bad for her feeling this way because she
could very well be right at the end of the day.
We don't know. We're not privy to details, obviously, but yeah,
I don't know. It's another situation. Let me say, it's
(30:45):
another situation that doesn't paint WW in the best light,
amongst other things like morale being down amongst the employees
for a laundry list of reasons. And now Carmela is
saying she feels like she was punished for being pregnant,
which is a totally valance fit in my opinion, that's
the case. I don't know if that's true, but again
I don't that don't mean that I don't want to
(31:06):
invalidate how she feels.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Neither, so nob should tell her how to feel. And
I hate when you know people do that. We're like, oh, well,
don't feel like this. It's like, well stop don't. Like
I've learned to over the years to like because I
used to be like that. Oh don't feel like that. Like,
but like, it's worse when when you when you do
things like.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
That, and not everybody's experience is the same. Just because
this this way for one person doesn't mean it worked out.
It worked out it works that way every time. You
could point to examples, Oh yeah, where this person came back,
But that don't mean it was the case for Camela.
Every situation could be different exactly.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
And you know, I hope Corey Graves is doing okay too,
because I know, like he a lot of people have
talked about his tweets. That could be, you know, the
reasoning you know, behind this and his quote unquote demotion
to n XT. You know, who knows, but he's there,
he's doing his job and maybe he's uh, you know,
(32:04):
just playing out the string of his contract. Who knows.
He hasn't really said anything about it, but you know
that might just be you know, we might not see
them after that, you know, just based on how they
feel treated by a company. You know, sometimes you just
like Maria Canellis with a W She's just like I'm good,
you know, like I'm out. So sometimes it just happens.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Yeah, yeah, it's terrible if if if it's true. And
again it sounds like I said, I just have empathy
for come. That's the first thing never went through my head.
It wasn't really to like going like oh w W
terrible because again there was examples of this not happening,
but that doesn't mean that it didn't happen to her,
does not mean it didn't happen to her. So it's
like it's.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Like bring up other people, you know, it's just to
invalidate someone else's experience. It's like, stop, like, right are
we We're in twenty twenty five now we should be
above well do that stuff, but we're not.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
It should be above a lot of things, but we
said we are not. But moving on to other wrestling
free agent news, because Carlas is technically a free agent.
So is Ray Phoenix, who is apparently free from the
supposed shackles of his AW contract, which I'm sure was
(33:30):
paying him very well. Don't get a twisted it's paying
him very well. But he wasn't pretty much wasn't being used.
He wasn't wrestling anywhere, he wasn't appearing on TV, and
it would just seem like you're just being wasted sitting
on the shelf in WW and AW held hostage almost.
But now he's free, and you would think he's going
(33:51):
to be also on the first thing smoking to WWE,
just like just like Penta, there's like Ricky Saints now
and Ray Phoenix. So maybe he would just be Phoenix
in WW because they know they got Ray Mysterio. Yeah,
I don't want to confuse confuse everyone. Ray Mysterio, Ray Phoenix.
They both wear a mask Oh my.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
God, which, by the way, it made me laugh that
if you ever seen LFG, I don't think you have,
but like I try to watch it a little bit. Yeah,
there's two guys with like one has the first name,
the other has the last name. It's the same name.
I forget what it is. I gotta look it up.
But it's like ridiculous. It's like, we can't you For
(34:32):
years and years you're like, oh, you can't use names
similar to each other, and then now they have like
super similar names. Uh and like developmental and let me
let me see this cast.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Yeah, I have not watched it. I don't even know
where it's airing. Where's it airing on A and E
Sunday night. I don't watch any very often.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
I used to jasper Troy and Troy year would it's like,
that's weird. Okay, It's not like I thought all these
wrestling names. I'm assuming they're wrestling names. I don't think
they're real names. There's no Wikipedia page for them. But
dud and I remember thinking, like, man, if you know,
(35:18):
if Vince was still there, we probably would have different
names here, you know, Like that was my first thought.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
He'd just give them one name, he'd be Jasper, he'd
be far worse. I'll take that over what it could
have been with Vince McMahon. Uh.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
So we have Bailey Humphrey. It's like you got scotta change,
you know when the roster it's spelt the same exact
way is Oh yeah, we cames Bailey, So we.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
Can't have that at all. It's crazy about to be
Stacy Humphrey, something like Riley Hu Drake Moreau. Who's m
O R R E A U X oh may ux.
I thought it was no thought. I'm surprised to X
at the end figure would be just a U at
the end.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Okay, he's from Louisiana, so.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
I mean makes sense. Yeah, I mean even the just
to U at the end. I figured it would be
a Louisiana name sounds French.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
So they have not changed Elijah Holyfield's name, and you
probably know why.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Makes sense. He's a Vander Holyfield's son also used to
play for the Eagles once upon a time. He's been
running back for the Eagles twenty nineteen, I want to
say twenty nineteen twenty something like that. I'm pretty sure
I remember being in the building with Delijah.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
He was signed to the active roster December thirty first,
twenty nineteen, so you were technically correct. On the last
day of twenty nineteen, he was a Philadelphia Eagle.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
That's when he was signed to.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
The ACT to the active roster.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Well, I feel like he was in camp before that though.
I feel like he was in camp before that.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
And he was waived on September third, twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Okay, so that's okay, Oh that's the next year. Oh man,
I feel like he was in I thought I remember
him being in a training camp before that.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
He was on the practice squad of the Panthers before
he signed with the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
Mhm, yep, so.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Maybe you were looking at practice.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
Squads of maybe I thought he was in the building
longer than maybe a couple of weeks. Were tampering, not
at all, bro They they didn't tell me nothing, okay,
nothing until I absolutely had to know. There was times though,
(37:33):
when we found out something and we had to wait until,
like the national reporters broke it, which was annoying. Oh wow,
oh yeah, yeah, I can tell stories, but just waiting
there waiting like, well, we gotta wait for chef to
the reporter.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
The whole team camp.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
Deals be getting done. That's all I'm gonna say. Deals
be getting done.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Say no more?
Speaker 1 (38:00):
All right, but yeah that's the thing. But enough of
the current day nonsense. Are you ready?
Speaker 2 (38:06):
He was brought back?
Speaker 1 (38:07):
Also sorry Elijah Holyfield.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Yeah, and then waved again and August the twenty twenty one.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Okay, ah, So August told he was in camp in
twenty twenty one, so I knew he was in camp
at some point I felt like he was in training
camp with this and I remember like, yeah he so
he did around him.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
This says he signed a reserve slash future contract with
the Eagles on January fourth, twenty twenty one, so that
you were thinking of.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Yeah, that sounds about right. Okay, maybe that's it. Yeah, yeah,
I probably put up the transaction for that team website
there a future contract and when he was waived eventually too.
Probably did that one too. That's part of my One
of my responsibilities back then was to add the transactions
to the website and funny story put our inactives graphic together,
(38:54):
which was used to be kind of fun to see
like who's popping up this week and you know, seeing
who's only an actives for that game day, so whole
adventures so you used to happen at the Eagles, which
used to be again adventurous things that would happen when
I worked there. But enough of the current day nonsense.
(39:15):
Are you ready to dive deep into the February twenty
first edition of Monday Night Raw? From two? Did I say?
February twenty first, two thousand and five edition of Monday
Night Raw? I should say, let me finish that out?
Are you ready?
Speaker 2 (39:29):
H you know? I am. This is probably one of
my favorite episodes in Monday Night Raw.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Ever, let's do it. Monday Night Raw on February twenty first,
two thousand and five, emanated from the Bryce Jordan Center
on the campus of Penn State University and State College, PA.
So this was not far from home, so to speak
out there in Penn State. Of course, the Bryce Jordan
Center is home to the men's and women's basketball teams
(39:56):
at Penn State. They are I said that we are
because I don't go to Penn State. He's always He's
always annoyed me with people. Would I went to I E.
P with and we go to I E P. And
they would cheer for Pitt football and basketball and Penn
State football. They was like, yeah, Penn State one to
(40:16):
day is like you don't go to Penn State. They
would we are. It's like you're you are not, okay,
you are not. This is why people don't understand pronouns
because we are like, no, you're not.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
That's where the real war is.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Right messing it up there, bro. So that was That's
always annoyed me. I don't know why I brought up
past anger, past the uh anger for me when I
was in college, like, there's a whole team right here
at iup the Crimson Hawks can use your support. Who
cares that they're playing Lockhaven today? That was me. That
(41:03):
was me back in two thousand and eight, seven, something
like that. But we're in two thousand and five, and
we've talked about where we were in two thousand and
five multiple times already recently in this podcast. And we're
about a month after the or Rumble. We're nearly a
month after the or A Rumble. But Batista, the War
Rumble winner, still hasn't decided on you that what's that?
(41:27):
Oh that's your train? Oh man, I thought there was
a guitar strum for some reason.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
I'm leaving it in. I don't care because I can't
anticipate it.
Speaker 1 (41:38):
Yeah, there's no way, there's no way. Uh, it's okay.
But nearly a month after the War Rumble, Batista still
hasn't decided on who he will face for a championship
at Russell Manna. The options WW champion John Bradshaw Layfield
on SmackDown or his home in Evolution Raws World Heavyweight
(41:59):
Champion Triple H. Decisions decisions for Batista, he had to
ponder there was a dilemma for Triplation. Though there was
no dilemma. The choice was clear. Okay, go to SmackDown
Face JBL beat him, and now Evolution can rule the
(42:19):
wrestling world.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
How about that.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
Both world titles take over both shows unique opportunity. In hindsight,
Triple is kind of right, but there could have did
something special there, you know, could have did something real special.
But Triple H he overstepped his boundaries. See, the plan
(42:44):
was solid, but he overstepped those boundaries because he never
considered how Batista might feel. Oh, he's acting selfishly anyway,
but then he disrespected the man. So that's where the
lesson is. But we got to consider how Patista feels
(43:06):
he could ed have a one on one match against
Triple H or a triple threat match against two opponents
and Jbel and John Steena because he was still guaranteed
his title shot.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
Is that the type of match where he can lose
without even being penned?
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Yeah, so I wonder, I wonder which one would he select?
H the easy path or the the the unnecessary path.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
He gets he has like a thirty Uh, he goes
from fifty percent to thirty three point three percent, right.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
There's a couple extra threes in that, but like, yeah, with.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
A line of love it yeah repeated.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Yeah, so the odds seem kind of clear, I guess right, Like,
but we have to find out. We have to find out,
uh the show big story in my yeah, like Jim
Gardner the Big Story of Action News.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
I meant the TEXTI earlier, I was like, this is
how I'm gonna go about it. But Jim Gardner, the
Big Story was exactly what I was thinking.
Speaker 1 (44:10):
I mean, you're right, I mean, I do. We do
have the format for this show, but we switch it up.
We got the main event. The main event is the
segment where Batista decides which champion is going to face,
So that's the big story on Action News. We'll start
with that. But I do have a match of the night,
and I have a top non wrestling happening, a worse
non wrestling happening, and some random thoughts. I don't have
any hidden gems. The show wasn't lead that, and I
(44:31):
don't only have a worst match of the night. That
none of the matches will necessarily terrible, So I don't
only have a worst match, but I just I don't
know if we can go through each category as we
go along. Obviously, but the start off with the beginning
of the show Raw and the theme song at this
point oh yeah, which brought back some nostalgia for sure.
Speaker 2 (44:52):
Era of production that all had because I loved the music,
the look of it and the way it sounded, like
everything about it.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
To this point to this point or like ever that's
what you're saying to this point for sure, and okay,
really it's it's still up there like it's I probably
would yeah say ever for me. Yeah, so man, the
late nineties Raw like maybe like late nineties two thousand,
that that look is also nostalgic for me, but they
(45:22):
did brighten it up with this air. When they did
the brand extension, they brighten it up, so I think
it does esthetically look better and.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
Like the logo. I like the stage, you know, like, yeah.
Speaker 1 (45:32):
I think I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
I do.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
I think there's not enough appreciation for this raw stage.
I think a lot of people love the fist SmackDown one.
I think that's the one that everybody loves and rightfully
so it's still the dopest station and they've ever done
for SmackDown, but this raw one doesn't get enough love.
I don't think that the one previous to this was
just a big screen and they had the WW logo
in the middle and maybe some lights around that was cool,
(45:56):
but it was kind of dark. This one brightened it up,
and I think, like I agree with you that the
production kind of looked better because of this. I think
I don't know if it necessarily got like more memorable
over the years. I think I guess it got better
because it got HD and they you know, technology, But like,
I think this current era of production is better than
(46:17):
everything that went after this one. Like I think I
like this stage, but everything else kind of blends together
after this. But then this current era where they have,
like the smaller stage and you know it's just not
enough as much Bels and Whiels looks better than me.
But I did appreciate this time period. But the song
was apparently was called and apparently called it is called
(46:38):
Across the Nation by a new metal band called The
Union Underground. So I don't know if you ever heard
of them or are familiar with them, but this song
did bring back some memories for me for.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
Sure, nothing outside of the raw intro so I mean,
but yeah, I really enjoyed it. Like there was also
on this backdown side. I think twenty twelve twenty thirteen
is Born to Run was the song for there. I
forget who's from, but like that was like the this
(47:12):
backdown theme I love the most, and like this is
probably the raw theme I love the most.
Speaker 1 (47:21):
M The current one is not bad with Travis Scott mainly.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
I don't really pay at touch on the intros anymore.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
But like that that's fair. I kind of tuned them
out for a long time too, But yeah, I like
this song. It's not really like a song I'm going
back to listen to, but it's I guess for nostalgia purposes.
It was just brought back feelings because when I think
about this song, I think about me, for one, being
(47:48):
sixteen or you know, however, I Wrold. I was watching
this show and week after week religiously despite this decreasing
quality at times, you know, it makes me think of
playing SmackDown Here Comes to Pain on PlayStation two for
hours and hours at a time when I was a
(48:10):
freshman in high school. I mean, I probably logged days
of my life playing that game. If you go back
and add it all up, hopefully nobody does because it
might be embarrassing how much I played that game. So
but yeah, it did bring back nostalgia. Also, if you're curious, oh,
go ahead.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
They refuse to see the change in me. Okay, I
love it it hits man, Oh my goodness.
Speaker 1 (48:42):
If you're curious though, The band The Union Underground is
just announced today.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
Of all gates, oh are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (48:51):
That they're going to have a tour re going They're
going to have a twenty five year anniversary tour of
their one and only studio release, which is called Dot
Dot Dot and Education and Rebellion.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (49:10):
The copy on their IG says twenty five years of
Bellion and Callousness, the Union Underground and spine Shank that's
the name of that band. I don't know. I've never
heard of either one of these bands.
Speaker 2 (49:22):
But we need to go and request across the nation.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
No, I'm good, baby, they don't even come this way.
They will go there Texas and the Midwest. It's all right,
It's just just for I am okay. But you know
that album again was there again the only studio album,
And I don't know why they had an ellipsis in
the beginning of the title of the album. I'm sure
(49:46):
that made them feel real edgy back in two thousand
when this album dropped. But they are celebrating twenty five
years though of the album look at that, so more
power to them. But let's talk about the an event,
which is Batista in his decision. Before Lebron's decision, there
(50:08):
was Batista's decision and whether he was.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
They built it up. It really felt like the day
that lives in sports entertainment infamy.
Speaker 1 (50:20):
For one, they hype it up all show that Batista
is going to make his decision. But Batista is late.
He arrived at the arena during the show, which for me,
it's crazy. That's crazy. But tangent real quick. I never
(50:43):
understood why WW would have their talent show up late,
show up during the show.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
They tried with Rick is like listen, the weather's weird
and stuff, and it's like, yeah, but you guys are
all there.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
And also they would do it all the time. I
remember back in like ninety nine two thousand, I felt
like weekly they would show talent walking into the building
during the show. Oh, here comes Stone Cole Steve Austin.
What kind of hell is he gonna raise tonight? We'll
be back.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
At the show.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
Right an hour into the show, And that gets you excited.
I'm my god, Steve Awston's here. It's like he showed
up like an hour hours late for work, hours late
for work. They did it so much that they made
it a cut scene in the SmackDown video games, and
it just like why, It just never made sense to
(51:36):
me in reality, doesn't make sense. Why are these guys
showing up late for work? And why would this overbearing
boss named Vince McMahon ever allow that?
Speaker 2 (51:46):
I do, like, you know, they didn't really hammer at
home enough that he was at the SmackDown pay per
view the night before. It just said like he's fighting
for you know, wherever it was, I'm sure it was
closed because even though Ron's were sea cruise, they were
still touring close together enough to where they were hours
apart at the very most, so maybe like a couple
(52:08):
two or three hours apart. But they didn't really lean
into that as much as I thought they would.
Speaker 1 (52:15):
Well, I mean they did play some video, right, they
did play video of him showing up at was would
have been no way out at that point, right to
beat up JBL and the others. But but yeah, I
guess they could have mentioned that, like, oh, he had
trouble getting in from this show or whatever, travel issues
or whatever. But no, he's just just late. It's just
(52:36):
how it was. They would just do that sometimes. It's
like with Michael Jordan's show late for a Bulls game,
like he wouldn't show during the game, like, oh, Michael
Jordan's here in the third quarter. He'd be the first
one there. And now it's funny now you see, like
WW they shoot people arriving, but they arrived well before
the show begins, because that's when athletes arrive for games,
(52:58):
like Patrick mah homes Lebron. You they show them walking
into the building on social media and all that. But
of course, because they're professionals, they show up hours ahead
of time, like Mahomes, Otani, McDavid, you you name it.
They all show up early, bro. And of course they
show up early with the fit on so they can
get it, you know, everybody off the attention and stuff
(53:20):
like that. But like, it's just I didn't understood that.
Now WW does the same thing. People don't really do
it to fit, you know, put together the fit as
much in WWE understandable, But they show them arriving, which
is they don't.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
Do the time anymore? Do they to the time up there?
But I don't remember. If I don't, I don't, but
I paid attention to it. I haven't seen it, but
I'm thinking, like if I haven't been paying attention to
do it, they just randomly do it here and there.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
But it's not something that time. It's not something that
I need. I just I think it's implied that it
is earlier. Again, when you watch a football game they
show Mahomes arriving, you you don't need the time to
know it happened hours ago. You assume it happened hours ago,
because obviously he's on the field now, So it's the
same thing for me and wrestling, Like it's like, obviously
(54:08):
they're in they're preparing for whatever they're about to do,
getting stretched, you're stretching, you're warming up, whatever you're doing.
So you're not just showing up in the middle of
the show drop your bag off in the room and
look look angry. You know. I never understood that, but
they would do that all the time. But because Batista
is late, Flair was waiting for him in the parking
(54:29):
lot all night.
Speaker 2 (54:30):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
At one point a limo did arrive, but it wasn't Batista,
and Rick Flair was like, hey, Dave, were at looks
in the car, Like.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
It was so funny him looking at putting his head
in the limo. Look around.
Speaker 1 (54:45):
It was Batista. It was Chris Masters, who was making
his raw debut, which was like, that's a wild way
for that to happen. In the segment with Rick Flair
looking for someone else, he wasn't even looking for him. Meanwhile,
throughout the show, Eric Bischoff from Teddy Long they're watching
(55:06):
the show together backstage talking about which show was better
and why Batista would chose their brand and whatnot. They're
going back and forth, but eventually Triple Ah he gets
upset at Batista for being late. You know, god, could
he after all we've done for him, He's on show
up late for this big this is huge, and Triple
AS gets to talking too much, and it admits that
(55:28):
he orchestrated a series of attacks on Batista, which included
nearly running him over with a limo that was oddly resembled,
you know, resembled JBL's limo, had the horns on it,
it was white, it might even had his license played
on it. But even Rick Flair didn't know this.
Speaker 2 (55:53):
He stared at him, like why not, Like.
Speaker 1 (55:58):
Triple H went to nearly killing this man just so
he can choose the opponent, Just choose the op choose
somebody else.
Speaker 2 (56:05):
Because he was scared, you know what of him.
Speaker 1 (56:10):
Triple H didn't seem to be that scared that. He
played it off as you know, well, because he's like
Patista's is stupid.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
He doesn't know what's make the decisions for him.
Speaker 1 (56:21):
Yeah, he's not smart enough to know what's best for him.
And Flair, like you said, loved it, called Triple AD genius.
Oh man, you didn't, did it? This time.
Speaker 2 (56:30):
I used to think you were a genius. I tell
people you're a genius, But now I know you're a genius.
Because he thought like he would maybe turn on him,
like wait on my sign, but then he just that
was what Rick was greater in that era, and I
like Ric Flair in that era, where like and then
he just starts doing the shoulder taps like oh yeah.
(56:53):
It was like I laughed so hard. I was like,
that's the Rick Flair that I liked.
Speaker 1 (57:01):
Nothing after that slapping the shoulders as wow, when he
gets excited. I don't know why he does that. That's
a strange thing. We just know him for doing that, right,
but it's a strange thing to do when you get
except oh yeah, and just slap your shoulder, slap your
chest like pretty much. I don't get it. But Triple
Ah said this. He called, you know, Batista out of
(57:24):
his name in front of the world, so I guess
he thought, big idiot. He thought that Batista would never
hear that, but sure enough he's not there, and I
guess he could just never watch this on television ever.
DVR existed in two thousand and five, but Batista apparently
(57:44):
just didn't know how to use it. He's never watched
the show's back, I never saved it to his DVR.
But sure enough, just so happened that the cameraman backs
away slowly from Triple H and Rick Flair as they
are talking to reveal that Batista was standing behind a wall.
You're hustling the whole time, WHOA and the whole and
(58:09):
heard the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (58:12):
We think, I mean, he could have just don he could.
Speaker 1 (58:16):
How long were you standing there, Batista?
Speaker 2 (58:18):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (58:19):
How much did you hear? Did you hear? Huh? He
heard enough? We heard enough. So before we even get
to the ring, we kind of have a sense of
where this may go because your assumption is that Batista
heard all of that and he's not gonna like it.
As a kid, though, I still wasn't sure.
Speaker 2 (58:40):
I don't think.
Speaker 1 (58:43):
I didn't. I was like, he could still go to SmackDown. Bro.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
I don't know you're right, So here I go back.
Speaker 1 (58:53):
I wasn't sure, Bro, I wasn't sure, but you know.
Speaker 2 (58:57):
I will be honest with you. I wasn't sure either
because I was like, there's no way is going to
do this, and you know it's going to be I
just had no faith in them for like creatively, you know,
I thought Triple H was always going to be the champion,
Like I just okay, they gave crisped While to win
(59:19):
the year before, but then he lost it like a
month to Randy, and then I went right back to
Triple H. They're not going to do the same thing
this year. I was like, that was my mindset.
Speaker 1 (59:28):
Crazy thing is this is like Triple H's last title
run until like two thousand and like eight. Well, I
think he did it, win it briefly in two thousand
and seven, and he lost it right away to like
Randy or yeah, yeah, but he didn't get it back
until like eight. I think, oh wait, yeah, it was
a while until he got it back. So this is
like the last time you had to deal with this
(59:49):
for a while. So you made it.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
You made it.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
You didn't realize at the time.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Right, But the end of two thousand and six, I
was like, give him the belt back, please, which.
Speaker 1 (59:59):
Is wild, Like Brian Daniels has said fickle, you know,
just talking about the Rain of Terror and then turned
right around like he's a better wrestling than seeing it,
so he should keep it the title.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
And I'm like, I don't know about this.
Speaker 1 (01:00:16):
That's that's my champion. I love him the whole time.
I always love Triple H. Come on, you know, I
always loved him. He's always the guy, always the man.
But it's time, Eric Bischoff Teddy long in the ring
(01:00:38):
and they introduce Bautista and he comes out with Triple
H and mc flair and everyone involved. It's wearing the
baggiest of suits, so much linen and materials flying everywhere,
flowing in the wind. Buttons, so many buttons on everybody. Suits,
ties that match perfectly with the shirt. And then underneath
(01:01:00):
it blends right in it. Loves Batista shades and had
kind of had like the gradient on him. Those are
super popular back in those days, super popular. But Eric Bischoff,
he gets in the mic and he makes his case
about why Batista should stay with Raw. And this case was,
you know, look, we're the flags of show. Raw is
(01:01:23):
the brand, and I have my job is secure here.
Apparently Teddy Longs wasn't at that time, so he's like,
you want stability, come come mess with you know, Raw
Monday Night Raw. Okay, you ain't gotta worry about in.
Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
All the videos.
Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
Oh yes, I forgot about the petition to impeach Teddy
Long pretty much. But you ain't gonta worry about the
GM dancing on the stage. All the videos come to
Monday Night Raw. Stay with Monday Night Raw. You know
Triple H and Rick Flair. Don't like that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
I ain't like.
Speaker 1 (01:02:04):
Don't listen to him, bro, He ain't he ain't talking.
He ain't talking about now what they talking about. He
ain't talking about nothing. He ain't talking about nothing. Don't
worry about that, bro. You stick to the plan, all right.
Don't listen to Eric Bischaff. He don't know what he's
talking about. Then Teddy Long gets his chance to make
his case. And like we said, Batista, that already appeared
that SmackDown's no way out the night before, and Teddy like,
(01:02:27):
you heard that crowd, right, that's a SmackDown crowd, totally
different from the crowds you'll see you've seen already. You
heard that energy on SmackDown. It's different, it's different than
Monday Night Raw. I always also loved the fact that
the fans in the building were booing SmackDown like you're
gonna pay good money to go to SmackDown later this
(01:02:47):
year probably the greatest. Just later this year, you're gonna
pay the same money to go to SmackDown. But Teddy
Long was like, you can come to smack Down the
show that's not live, show that's taped, and then we
can hide it, we can edit see and then you
(01:03:10):
can face John Cena and have a rivalry as big
as Steve Aston versus the Rock.
Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
Who knows you could even start a rivalry like he's
fantasy booking right now right.
Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
Tell you about that money you have promoted at the
end of the day. Holla, holla, dollar dollar, All right,
Who's who?
Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
Can he face.
Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
The under Taker?
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
I knew it was coming and I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
You could go one on one with the Undertaker two
years later he did, He did eventually, But I do
find it funny that he talked he like in the
Sena and him to often in the Rock, which w
W wish that was the case. W W like, please
be the case And it wasn't quite the case. That
wasn't quite it, but they wish it was. But yeah,
(01:04:04):
Teddy Long made a compelling case. He did right, even
though it's like, do I really want to face the
under take her?
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
I don't know, not right now, at least like.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
I kind of. I don't want to face the dead Man.
I don't I've never even faced him before. But Triple
H think gets a chance to make his case. I
mean that it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
Looked like Dave was about to sign the SmackDown contract
before Triple H started talking, but.
Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
He had to speak his peace though. Let him get
it out. He had the speak his piece.
Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
He changed Dave's mind by that point, or I don't think.
Speaker 1 (01:04:36):
Maybe it was. I don't know, but but he said, Batista,
you gotta make the best decision for yourself, baby, right
and that decision, the best decision for you is to
go to SmackDown and fav That's the best decision for you. Okay.
That's that's that's that's the place that I'm coming from.
I'm looking out for you. This ain't about me in
(01:04:58):
my title, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Not at all.
Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
The best decision for you is to go be JBL
when his title. Leave my title alone. Okay, leave me
and my title alone, sir. And look again. The opportunity
that Triple Ah floated, which was members of the two
members of the same faction holding both world titles at
(01:05:24):
the same time, has still never happened. So it was
a very unique opportunity that was before Triple H and
potentially not revolution evolution. I take off the r on that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
So it was I love the comparison he made, Like
what if Rick Flair was ww champion and Art Anderson
was WWF champion, Like oh loved, it.
Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
Would have been crazy. Even though they would have, it
would have never happened because there's contracts and promoters wouldn't
have wanted to share and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
Barn had the chance when he is in the Brainbusters
and but you just could never get that main event.
Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Push Man never could. But they wouldn't have been four horsemen.
They would have been like separate entities, a little different,
a little different, but either way, it still never happened.
But the thing is Batista doesn't need any convincing because
he said he's known what he's going to do for
(01:06:24):
a long time. He then has both contracts. You can
see on the back of the clipboard the logo for
each brand. So it's just so you get the visual aid, Okay,
because it was important. I guess you needed to know
whe's contract he was throwing on the ground and when
he was keeping first Batista has both contracts up and
he throws the raw contract on the ground. Eric Eric
(01:06:47):
Bischoff is distraught.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
Okay, he was like, oh.
Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
No, he's begging on the table.
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
Damn it.
Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
I lost out on my big chance to get the big,
big big da Batista missed opportunity. Who am I gonna
find the Challeel triple h Now, Bubara Ray Dudley. This
is Bubba Ray Dudley in the house. It is Jane
Snisky shouting. You ready to go.
Speaker 2 (01:07:20):
Shouting?
Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
Benjamin Mayvon, you're somebody somebody out.
Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
I just imagine having production meetings like he's gonna step up.
Speaker 1 (01:07:37):
I need someone, Sean Edge, randyed somebody panics.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Sean's focused on Kurd Angle Lad, He's gonna go focus
on the undertaker.
Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
I need some nepound it. I need somebody. He just
loses it right, but.
Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
Starts calling, I.
Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
Mean some more with Joe available. Well her, he had
that kid? What was this kid named aj Styles? What
about that bad guy Christopher Daniels. You had a guy
who talks like Steve Bawlson, shark boy. Let's get him
up there. Let's get him up here too, and send
me money. Brown while you had it too, that would
have been dupe.
Speaker 1 (01:08:26):
But alpha male, the alpha male Mini Brown hit people
with the palace.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
That was the first, I think the first time I
heard the phrase alphabel.
Speaker 1 (01:08:36):
With many Brown. That's hysterical. But he throws the contract
down on the ground. The raw one, Triple H and
Rick Flair love it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
They love it.
Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
They give the thumbs up.
Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
It flips over, so you see the raw logo and
the camerices zooms in. You're like, oh man.
Speaker 1 (01:08:53):
Oh no, and they give him a big thumb up
thumbs up, I should say, but t gives it back.
He's like, yeah, man, we're doing it. We're taking up,
We're taking over the little Stevie Richards. When you need him,
I'll mentioned We'll mentioned Stevie Richards later on in the show. Uh,
he didn't have a great night. We talk about it.
(01:09:17):
But Batista took a page out of the John Seen
the playbook or the vice versa. I has to say,
because he turned that that smile into a frown and
turned that thumb upside down. Okay, and Triple H and
Rick Flair were shook.
Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:09:39):
The look on their faces was like, oh lord, what
is happening? Let's seemed like Batista clothes lines Triple H,
dumps Rick Flair out of the ring, Eric Bischoff and
Teddy Long they go with him. They get out of Dodge,
but Batista is actively working against his homies. Now he
(01:10:02):
is turned on Triple H. And he eventually gets Triple
H up for a power bomb and power bombs him
through the table that was set up in the ring
for the contract signing.
Speaker 2 (01:10:14):
Beautiful Jr.
Speaker 1 (01:10:18):
Goes crazy, good God Almighty with a power bomb, and
the fans are also going crazy. Oh my goodness. It
was tremendous. It was really really good, really well done.
Patissa then grabs a contract and signs it before saying
(01:10:40):
that he grabs a raw contract I should say, because
there's two contracts out there. Grabs a raw contract and
then says that he is staying on raw so he
can take the world Championship from Triple H.
Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
W Man, incredible.
Speaker 1 (01:10:58):
That was pretty lip. Not gonna lie. We watched it.
Speaker 2 (01:11:02):
We were waiting for this.
Speaker 1 (01:11:04):
We watched some terrible wrestling at New Year's Revolution. It
was horrible. But this man, this is good. This brought
the goods. It was really well done because too they
played off of the Randy Orton turn or Triple As
turning on Randy Orton back in two thousand and four
with the thumbs up and if you recall, Batista had
Randy Orton on his shoulders and Triple Ah's on the
(01:11:25):
ground while but you know, Orton just just I think
you just defended the title. Yep, he Orton's world champion,
just defended it. And Triple A is looking up at
him like, thumbs up, kid, you did you didn't you
didn't dig? Good kid, I'm proud of you, looking up
at him like he's a proud papa. And then Papa
H goes psych and turns the thumbs down and then
gives a signal to Batista and they commenced the whooping
(01:11:45):
them and kicking them out of evolution, so and so
to flip that around and the youth the thumb down
for him and back on Triple H goes around, comes
around type of deal.
Speaker 2 (01:11:56):
It was.
Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
It was, It was well done. It was well done.
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Everything from this build had the little details, and we
didn't get that a lot in this era. Like the
details between Batista and Triple HS were always there ric flair,
and they're always there since it was just those three
even after the Orton turn and stuff like that, Like
everything Mates made, you know, sense, But there was always
(01:12:24):
like if you miss something subtle, then you miss something
like big, you know. So there was always those the
ways Batista was looking at Triple Hs through the weeks
and months and everything like that. It's just the way
he would look at the title belt, you know it
that was so important because it led to this that reaction.
(01:12:45):
You know, as soon as he turned the thumbs down.
It was like when the camera pan to John Cena
is staring at the rock with that mug, the mean mug,
and the people reacted to that before he even keet
Cody and.
Speaker 1 (01:12:58):
The Nards blump face call it, yeah, like a the
womp from the Mario Brothers. I mean, I you know,
I'm time to play Mario Kart and ran into one
of them damn things. I ain't got like a two
item boxes, and I'm feeling good about myself and then
I run into John Cena's face on the damn track,
Batista's face, So when I saw that, almost had like
(01:13:18):
a flat like no, no, I'm not finishing the twelve
place again. But I'm sorry. I don't mean to get
you sidehracked talking about Mario Kart.
Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
It's great. It was just great, Like this is I
was like, oh, They're never gonna do it, and then
I was really actually like I loved it this happened.
But then I was praying in the future. I was like,
please don't let another Randy Orton happen, you know, like
I was like, please let Batista be ready for this.
You know, I don't want another thing where Triple A
or Batista beat Triple A's just for Triple Ah to
(01:13:48):
beat beat him after that, And that's what I thought
was gonna happen when they had to rematch the next month.
And that's what I thought was gonna happen when they
did Hell the Sell and we did a deep dive
into Vengeance two thousand and five a couple of years ago,
and once Batista won that, I was like, oh my god,
like he's the face of w W. But that will
clearly be John Cena right after that. But you know,
(01:14:10):
I was very very happy that they let Batista cook.
Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
That's a good way to put it, because that was Fatista.
Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
Cook, scared to death that Triple was just gonna beat
him again after he like I was like, I mean,
Tista made a name for himself, like on his own too.
Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
You also had recent evidence to support your fears. And
how they did Randy Orton, who wins the title and
Triple H turns on him and immediately beats him for
the title, and then he never got it back right
and he really lost the team as a baby face.
And maybe he just wasn't comfortable in the role because
when he turned back Hill felt like he fell found
(01:14:49):
a stride again. But I had to sneeze, I'm sorry,
less you, thank you. Let me start that over real quick,
leave it, oh man. Uh My point is is that
they did Randy Orton kind of dirty with that. At
(01:15:10):
least they kind of gave him the ball and then
took it away from him pretty quick, and it just
felt like we were right back to tipple H. And
then I think Randy Orton suffered from that. Thank goodness
he turned, He'll thank goodness he turned. He went against
the undertaker all right, WrestleMania. Think that really revived his
career because it didn't feel like he was going anywhere
at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
He literally went up and was like, Uh, what's gonna
do for Rustleman? Here. Man, That's basically what it was.
Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
I need direction, and Sean gave him. They did give
him advice that he took and started beating up the
Undertaker took it the wrong way that I'm like, man,
I didn't tell him to do that. Now he tripping.
I ain't telling him to do that. But because of that,
I'm sure that played into like are they gonna do
(01:15:57):
the same thing to Batista? Though, like that would suck
to do that again, especially at like WrestleMania that's the
biggest stage. And they also beat Book of t just
two years prior for no reasons. It's just like, Okay, well,
I guess we're going to do this forever, and fortunately
we didn't. We didn't have to. But to me, the
big winner in all of this is Teddy Long because
(01:16:22):
Batista eventually beats up RAS's champion, took his title, and
then still signed with smack.
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
It was great when Okay, so Teddy's without a champion
after seeing as the first draft pick to go to
Raw they did like the four weeks and seeing it
was the first one, so then they had to come
up with a champion on SmackDown Tournament, JBL wins and
then the SmackDown Champion, you know, he's the SmackDown Champion,
(01:16:52):
and Teddy Long's like, not so fast player, and he's like,
we don't need a SmackDown Champion because we answer it champion.
I love it. I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
It's so crazy to cancel a championship. We don't need
this no more. Put that in to trash. They don't
even have a title belt. They even pretend that this
is a thing. You know, they it's called the SmackDown.
Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
Championship like a bag, right, because they didn't have a.
Speaker 1 (01:17:17):
They did have a belt sitting somewhere, right, and they
never even unveiled it.
Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
Yeah right.
Speaker 1 (01:17:21):
It probably was like a hardcore title. But then you
just cancel that, put the kaibash on that, and you
you saw on paperwork and stuff, didn't you like? And
now Patisa shows up, then you have like a white
turtleneck on or something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
Yeah, I think in in June or July, that's yeah. Wow.
I don't know if his debut he definitely wore one.
Speaker 1 (01:17:44):
He definitely wore one. I forget whether it was a
night that he debuted us. Some fits in like five
six that are memorable because he was to fly back
in them days that that the white turtleneck look is
iconic though he looked like he was in the nineties
R and B video bro I had a ski lodge
like it was. It was iconic in the shades. The
(01:18:05):
match was also sunny outside apparently.
Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
Yeah, it was the June thirtieth, so he was wearing
a suit when he came out.
Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
He was wearing a suit.
Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
He's wearing a suit without a tie.
Speaker 1 (01:18:16):
But ah, yeah, okay, okay, well he did the white
tota neck was was the look it was at one
point in time for Batista. Any of the thoughts on
that before we move on to the rest of the card,
the rest of the show.
Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
That just made WrestleMania. It was like my main event.
I really didn't care about SmackDown at this point. I
didn't like JBL. I didn't like a lot of well
I shouldn't say a lot of it, but I just
I didn't like JBL as champion. So I was like,
please RALL make this work. Like RALL was the show
I really liked. I watched both then, but RALL was
(01:18:51):
the one that I favored, and I really got into
this triple H Batista thing for months and this is
really before. I just thought they built towards Mania like
a month out, you know, Like I didn't think they
were going to have the patience in two thousand and five,
just because of the attitude error and the ruthless aggression.
(01:19:12):
Just the way they were. I was like, Oh, they're
not going to build something out once in advance, you know,
They're gonna do it maybe one month in advance or
something like that. So I was always like hesitant to
think it would actually be Batista interpl h in the
main event in WrestleMania. But like it happens, and then
you go back and this is what I did, you know,
Like I just never thought it was going to happen,
(01:19:33):
so I didn't pay close attention to it as it
was happening until after Batista won and WrestleMania. I swear
like I watched the end of that match so much
because it reminded me so much of WrestleMania fourteen when
Austin won, and I would I rewatch that so much,
just the end of it, depend Jim Ross's calls, everything
(01:19:54):
like that, and it was like, this is amazing, Like
I'm I'm back into wrestling now because I was not
far removed from the sabbatical I took with wrestling for
a few months, but you know, I was back in
towards the end of four, the fall of four, and
then this was like the culmination of that, and I
was like, oh my god, Like wrestling's cool again to
(01:20:16):
me because they did this, and it just it was
a huge part of why I loved this era, why
I will watch this era a lot, because I think
Batista was the right call. And I think Batista on
his own really and obviously had help. But when he
left Evolution, like he he became a main eventor on
(01:20:38):
his own, and I was like, that's just awesome. Like
Batista made his name himself pretty much. I know, Triple
H health and all that, but when he went to SmackDown,
it had to be Batista only, and it was. And
I just wish we got to see the Edie Guerrero's
storyline play out because that would have just been fantastic.
(01:20:59):
But he was. He was great in that and a
lot of credit to Eddie for that as well. And
so this whole year with Batista might be one of
my favorites of a certain wrestler that I you know,
from where it started and you know, having Triple H,
watch him get beat in the elimination chamber when he
could help him but then decides not to to beating
(01:21:20):
him at Wrestle Media and then beating him again and
then being a man and held himself. You know, like
it was just a great run for him, and he
was one of my He was my favorite, uh in
two thousand and five. You know, No, John Cena just
didn't do it for me. You know, like I was
like Batista, you know, like that was my guy.
Speaker 1 (01:21:43):
Yeah, he became the man. It felt like almost overnight.
It was like you didn't see him like being that
guy until they made him that got Oh you know what. Yeah,
that's how it was for me. As I wasn't sure
he's even gonna face Triple.
Speaker 2 (01:21:54):
H like like we used to was in the directors
getting shoved down our throats. I was like, all right,
like I couldn't deal with Patista because he's awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:22:04):
Yeah, and you know he had a great year No. Five,
like you said, and he had a lot of injuries. No. Six,
came back and seven and still had some injuries. But five, Yeah,
it was like the peak of his career for sure.
Before some injuries kind of held him back over the
next couple of years. But enough of the main event,
we can move on to the match of the night, Nick,
(01:22:25):
what is your match of the Knight from this episode
of Monday Night Raw.
Speaker 2 (01:22:30):
I was gonna put this as hid in Jim, but
I think I enjoyed this match more because of the
what I expected and then what it gave us. I
think the women's triple threat for the World Women's World
title was really really good with Trish and Molly and Victoria.
(01:22:50):
So that's gonna be my match of the night. And
it was the first match.
Speaker 1 (01:22:53):
It was the first match I would I would have
to ask my hitting Jim if it was a hitting
gym on the show. But I didn't like the fact
that there was sluts shaming in the storyline and they
did that before you know they did there was.
Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
This show.
Speaker 1 (01:23:10):
I get you. But it was a good match though
between the two. It was quick, which is also another
thing you can hold it against.
Speaker 2 (01:23:17):
W not very many botches, and they they really worked
well together, all three of them, like it flowed really well,
and I think it was a really good women's match
for that or that you know, Yes, it was quick,
but they got enough time to kind of like rile
the crowd up to I think, you know, there were
no botches, not of like the weird stuff. I thought
(01:23:38):
it was really a really good wrestling match to start
the show.
Speaker 1 (01:23:43):
I agree with you and that the shortness of it,
you know, well I should say this. I think they
made the most of their time. I just say they
could have used more time. They always could use more time,
but they could have wasted it. They made the most
of it. So I agree with you with that, and
it was, like I said, it was a good match.
I do wish you got more time, but again they
(01:24:06):
did make the most of it, so that's that's a plus.
But my match of the night goes to the tag
team match between Sean Michaels and Renda Yorton. Felt like
going against Edge and Christian. Yeah, I just felt like
the most complete match in the card, match that had
the most stakes and people over involved. Again, the women's
match was good and everybody was a pro and like
(01:24:29):
you said, for that time period, that was a good
women's match. Maybe it doesn't hold up to the same
quality of the matches of today.
Speaker 2 (01:24:38):
But second then, the longest match of the night.
Speaker 1 (01:24:41):
Well, look at that.
Speaker 2 (01:24:43):
You want to see that? Look at this. That was
three minutes and fifty seconds.
Speaker 1 (01:24:48):
Second longest match of the night.
Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
There was the tag title. The tag match was seventeen
minutes and twenty five seconds. So yes, everything else, every
other match was either three minutes and thirty nine seconds
or less.
Speaker 1 (01:25:03):
That's how it used to be, though they used to
go through matches quick. And then it's still a two
hours right, and it's also still two hours show, which
is two and a half now pretty much. But back
then you're dealing with two hours, so you're gonna have
some time constraints with that. As far as the tag
team actaid I mentioned, I did like that. I didn't
(01:25:24):
forget to mention this a New York's Revolution, but Christian's
theme music at this point, I love this theme music
at this point, this particular song, which was called just
Close Your Eyes by Waterproof Blonde. I don't know anything
about that band except this song, so look get that.
No more details about them. I don't know if you
have any detailed.
Speaker 2 (01:25:43):
The member we do not.
Speaker 1 (01:25:45):
Okay, well we can move on from that. Also, edging
Christian teaming up after the breakup, Wow, that's that sounds unique,
but it really wasn't, honestly actually, because this was not
the first time they had teamed up post breakup in
two thousand and one. Actually, they actually teamed up at
a house show in Calgary in two thousand and two,
(01:26:07):
which I did not know, against Los Guerrero's. This is
all according to cagematch dot Net. By the way, they
didn't teamed up again in November of two thousand and four,
I believe, in an episode of Raw against Chris Pinoit
and Shelton Benjamin and then they were in a six
man tag on Raw. So maybe the last tag match
was an untelevised show, But this particular match I'm talking
(01:26:29):
about now is on Raw. It was a six man
tag where they teamed up with Tomco. I forget their
opponents now, but they teamed up with Tyson Tomco on
Raw in January. So the prompt, yeah, Tyson Tomco, who
We're gonna talk about him a little later on as well.
We got a ref bump in this match, and I'm
(01:26:51):
like thinking to myself, like, do we get ref bumps
on TV anymore in WWE? Because I don't remember the
last time I remember. Can reck call that the on
sanction match had one, but like on like a regular
television show, not like on a pl on like a
big main evant match. It's like a This is like
a I mean, it's a big match, but it's not
(01:27:12):
like a blowof to a few. It's just a tag
team match.
Speaker 2 (01:27:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:27:17):
Maybe maybe they happen so often that I just don't notice.
Maybe they happen every night and I just like to
tune it out. That's a possibility.
Speaker 2 (01:27:26):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:27:26):
And you know, but edgend Christian. They tried to do
a concerto that didn't work. Seaw Michaels hit Christian with
sweet ten music and they won. That's that. This is
a fine for me. I wrote my notes, this is
a fine TV match that I would have enjoyed on
a Monday night in February twenty years ago. So it's
a fine tag team match television match with the baby
(01:27:51):
Faces win. To further the story, though, Edge attacked Shawn
Michaels backstage, So more to come from these two guys.
Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
I remember, I remember because there was I believe I
I'm trying to remember if I taped this episode of
Raw after No Way Out because I like to keep
SmackDown shows on the same tape, and then We're all
shows on the same tape, so I wouldn't tape We're
all and SmackDown on the same tape. And I'm trying
(01:28:20):
to remember because I had Shawn Michaels versus Edge in
a Street Fight as the first label on one of
my tapes, so that would have been the first show
I taped. So this show, the February twenty first edition,
was the last show that I taped on a certain VHS.
So it just brought me back a little bit. I
(01:28:40):
was like, oh, yeah, that I would write, you know,
the label HBK versus Edge hyphen street fight because I
would always write the main events. I wouldn't write the
dates for some reason, I should have wrote the dates,
but I would write the main events. And then just
I was like, oh yeah, so I should go back
and watch that, although I can't because that episode of
(01:29:02):
Raw is not available anywhere.
Speaker 1 (01:29:03):
Oh man, hot about it?
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
How about it? Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:29:08):
And you could be high. It's okay, It's all right, man,
it's all right. Not your fault, isn't that one?
Speaker 2 (01:29:13):
Kurd angle is actual on too? That did he like
attack him on a roll to like accept this challenge
or something.
Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
He probably did. I just remember, uh he was Michael's
doing I'm a sexy Kurt, like my favorite thing of
all time, I make your ankle hurt, incredible stuff with
sensational sherry Kurt angle Man. What a silly dude he was.
(01:29:41):
Remember he was few with John Cena and this is
like rapper John Cena and he came out in like
a Mark Brunel Jaguars jersey to Michael, which is like, now,
it's funny seeing this twenty thirty years later and Tony
Kahan owns the own the competition who also owns the
Jaguars kind of funny. But uh, I was found that funny.
(01:30:06):
But yeah, I don't have anything else as far as
Shawn Michaels or Edge, we can move on. I don't
know if you had a worse match of the night.
Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
I mean I didn't said it pretty well like nothing's
like terrible, so yeah, I believe it.
Speaker 1 (01:30:25):
Yeah saying I don't really have a worse match of
the night, but I do have a top non wrestling happening.
Speaker 2 (01:30:32):
Do you Mine would have just spent the promos with
Triple H should have been red Flair in the back.
It was really entertaining to me.
Speaker 1 (01:30:41):
Fair Fair Mine where the WrestleMania twenty one movie.
Speaker 2 (01:30:46):
Yes, I should have put that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:49):
Yeah, because these were so much fun we got. On
this episode, we got a parody of Pulp Fiction, which
was a classic movie which I haven't seen it in
a while all the way through, but I have seen
it multiple times. I could probably recite the thing by
heart if I really tried, But I've seen it so
many times that they're almost like, I don't want to
(01:31:10):
watch it against I've seen Pulp Fiction dozens of times,
it feels like, but it's been a while, so maybe
I'm due. But in this parody we get the We
get Booker T and Eddie Guerrero pretending to be Samuel
Jackson and John Travolta in the scene where Samuel Jackson
is in. They're in the guy's apartment and they're wondering
why you want to mess with Marcellus wireless willers and
stuff like that, and he reads a Bible scripture or
(01:31:31):
he recites a paraphrases Bible scripture. I don't know if
you even said something exactly verbatim, but it ends in violence.
Let's just say that, and I love this movie.
Speaker 2 (01:31:44):
He gives tickets.
Speaker 1 (01:31:46):
Well, in reality, it ends in violence. But in this
scene we get Booker t handing the guy WrestleMania tickets
because he doesn't have WrestleMania tickets. And Book of t
is playing the role of Samuel Jackson, which makes sense,
and he did a good job, and he wore the
Jerich curle wirl well and he recites the line and
he instead of committing violence, he hands them WrestleMania tickets,
(01:32:09):
which again does not happen in the movie. It ends
in violence, but this commercial still ended in violence because
Eddie Garrero accidentally shot a guy.
Speaker 2 (01:32:20):
I don't see that coming, didn't like I remember these
from back then and I thought they were like entertaining
and stuff, but I didn't. I don't remember them by heart.
So when I saw that, just like the way they
react is just so funny, Like the wrestlers in these
are great, Like that's what I also loved about this
building WrestleMania, Like I loved all these like, yeah, funny
(01:32:44):
trailers and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:32:45):
And you have you ever seen pulp fiction, I'm not,
I recommend it. I recommend pulp fiction if you haven't
watched it again. It ends in violence, much more violent
than what you saw in this promo with Eddie Gurero
accidentally shooting the guy without a bullet firing out of
the gun and just you just had the sound effect.
(01:33:08):
That's it. Uh, they did it on purpose in the movie.
Let's just say that. But these commercials were brilliant, Like
they were so good. They did another one later on
with they parodied Basic Instinct with Stacy Keebler movie I
have not seen. I've never seen Basic Instinct, which is
like an iconic. Well, I would say the scene that
(01:33:28):
they parody is iconic. I don't know if the whole
movie is iconic, but they seen the scene a parody
is when Sharon Stone, who you know is the main
character at least in this scene again have never seen
the movie as being portrayed by Stacy Keibler. Uh, and
she's being interrogated and she has this dress on and
she kind of crossed uncrosses the legs and cross them
back and the people interrogating her, I guess, like what
(01:33:52):
they saw. I guess. But in this case, it's Chris
jered It's the Three Crisis. It is Chris Jericho Christian
and Chris pinoy ed ed Nettie. You remember that cartoon
ed ed Nettie.
Speaker 2 (01:34:05):
I remember here.
Speaker 1 (01:34:06):
Yeah, it's classic. Yeah, I used to watch it all
the time on Cartoon Networks to love that show. But
in this case, it's Chris, Chris and Chris or Chris,
Chris and Christians.
Speaker 2 (01:34:14):
Is that one? It was one of them?
Speaker 1 (01:34:18):
Yeah, it was E D. Ed D Yeah, yeah, and Neddie.
Great show, but yeah, Chris, Chris and Christian on this
particular set and they are hilarious. Christian at the end
and he goes, I love you.
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
That's me.
Speaker 1 (01:34:40):
Jericho's face when she like she's talking about the she
asked him about the lingerie pillow fights, and his face,
the look on his face is like, oh my god,
it was good. And then they follow it up with
May Young and Mulu. It's like, oh my god, you
know this take it over the top now. But people
grabbing pails and pukin and to him like that that
was a bit much.
Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
It was a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:35:04):
Yeah, we're grabbing buckets. But again, these commercials were brilliant.
They did a bunch of these, right, right, but they
did a bunch of these. They parodied brave Heart the parody.
They were the last one they did with They parody
Colladiated with Steve Auston. That was the last one they debuted,
I think before WRESTLEMANI went on the air or part
of the intro package. I just say, uh, they parodied.
I forget which Clint Eastwood movie they did, but they
(01:35:26):
did it with The Undertaker, which was that made sense?
He thinks that Clint Eastwood, uh thinks he's a cowboy
and apparently the lore behind the Undertakers that he's like
an undead cowboy, which is wild. But they did a
couple movies. I can't remember the other ones they did
off the top of my head, but they did. Oh
they did a Taxi Driver where everybody's like, you're talking
(01:35:47):
to me, you're talking to me? And then everybody do
that one, which is pretty good.
Speaker 2 (01:35:53):
But Harry Betts sally.
Speaker 1 (01:35:55):
Yes, they did it with who did they do that
one with? They did recurd Angle and somebody else? Was
it Christy Hemmy?
Speaker 2 (01:36:02):
Maybe maybe?
Speaker 1 (01:36:03):
But it was kurd Angle, right man. Now, I gotta
look it up because I do remember, because I think
it was like kurd Angle, going like yes, yeah, I
think I remember kurd Angle. Doing it steal that maybe
he did. Maybe he did. I think I remember that.
I think I remember that. I should say, but yeah,
(01:36:26):
it was so good but.
Speaker 2 (01:36:30):
Hilarious.
Speaker 1 (01:36:31):
Yes he did put a wig on them. Christy hemmy, okay,
I'll do I'll do. Man, I'll be having some memory sometimes.
But again, these commercials were great. I can't say anything
bad about him that these were so good. The idea
was so good that w W ran it back and
wrestled Inia thirty nine and twenty twenty three as eighteen
(01:36:52):
years later and no one bad than Eye. And if anything,
it's an idea that I think WW can run back
multiple times every time they go to LA. They can
work these commercials in again, because you could always parody
new TV shows or movies, or maybe not as many movies,
because you know, sometimes box office smashes don't happen anymore,
but TV shows or whatever, you can still parody new content.
(01:37:15):
And they did it again in twenty three. I know
they did a Good Fellas parody with Roman Reigns, which
was kind of foreshattering, of like the blood line breaking up,
so to speak. But that I remember that one. I
don't remember other ones off the top.
Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
Of like they did Sticking the Crawl as much, but.
Speaker 1 (01:37:35):
Maybe you know, they don't. I don't remember them playing
them that much neither. I felt like they've played them
a lot more back in oh five, like we saw
them multiple times.
Speaker 2 (01:37:45):
Show I guess online twos well, I mean we're online too,
so I don't know, but it definitely felt like they were.
Maybe because we weren't online as much. They weren't social media.
I was online man like Tube or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (01:38:02):
Like, but I remember seeing all of these stick these
these are in my memory more than the ones from
twenty twenty three. Yeah, I agree, except for the one
what the bloodline when they did the Good Fellows scene,
because that was hysterical and that was a funny scene
in Goodfellas too.
Speaker 2 (01:38:15):
Yeah, I feel like like part of it was I
need to tune in to see the next trailer type thing,
and they were always so good two thousand and five
for Wrestlming in twenty one, so like I agree, like
it was like, oh, this is great. Yeah, as far
as you know, like.
Speaker 1 (01:38:32):
As far as promotional packages leading up to a show,
Wrestlming in twenty one some of the best stuff they've
ever done as far as promoting a show and how
and how they did it, and like it was almost
like a you know, a package piece of content on
its own, was these pieces of content that they created.
Speaker 2 (01:38:50):
It was Hollywood was really like a great because they've
been in LA before, you know, but they never leaned
into the Hollywood thing until.
Speaker 1 (01:39:01):
Yeah, yeah it was. It was really good. So kudos
to them for that. And they ran it back again
in twenty twenty three. But worst non wrestling happening. It
is a minor one of two minor ones. I had two. Uh,
the Christy Hemi Tristratus segment wasn't great. The backstage segment
a lot of yelling and screaming and couldn't make out
what anybody was saying.
Speaker 2 (01:39:19):
She got slapped.
Speaker 1 (01:39:21):
I was just like, what the hell, what's going on?
And then Tyson Tomko got some promo time and it
did not go well. He was he was man. He
was the borderline on jumping Jeff Farmer, territory bro jumping
Jeff Farmer. I'm going to take you down whatever he saying.
Speaker 2 (01:39:45):
Going to be for now.
Speaker 1 (01:39:48):
Yeah, we were teetering, Bro, we were teetering. He wasn't
quite there, but we were. We were on the cusp
of jumping Jumping Jeff Farmer Territory all right. On the
cusp of that, we talked about hitting gyms. I don't
know if you had another one. I had the women's
title match as my hitting gym. But did you have
one at all? I?
Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
Uh, where did click around? I don't. I mean I
would have remembered, so I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:40:18):
That's why it's hidden. I guess it's too hidden. You
hit it too good, you hit it, hit it too well. Uh.
Random thoughts. Uh, let's go to this part of the show.
I totally forgot that Eric Bischoff's face would pop up
at the end of like the intro little Vid. I
was not expecting that quick little his face there and
the fans always do I remember that now like I
(01:40:40):
saw it. I was like, oh, yeah, I forgot they
would do that, and then they like then when they
change it sometimes to when it be different people at
times like I feel like it was somebody else in
there too, So there was.
Speaker 2 (01:40:51):
You remember when there were co gms with Bishoff and
Stone Calz, he would have been first with the boo.
Speaker 1 (01:41:03):
Yeah, so dumb. Why would that for one? Why would
they show the GM after that, Why would he just
quickly flash his face? He just didn't make any sense.
I guess it was he's supposed to be so self serving.
I don't think he wanted to be part of that.
Speaker 2 (01:41:20):
I just think they did it with Teddy on SmackDown.
Speaker 1 (01:41:22):
Because he's a babyface. That's why they wouldn't do that.
Heel would do that. That's why he was a villain.
He's so self serving. He puts himself at the beginning
of the show. And I do remember Steve Austin being
in That was I forgot this was. I feel like
there's multiple people in there at once.
Speaker 2 (01:41:39):
Maybe it was when Maven Chris Jericho and Ben Wait
and uh uh Orton were the GMS.
Speaker 1 (01:41:48):
Maybe it was maybe maybe maybe, yes, what I remember?
Uh did Sean Michaels take credit for the ladder match
with Raise and Ramone?
Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
He did?
Speaker 1 (01:41:59):
I feel I got heard.
Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
That right right. He was like, I didn't know where
I was ten years ago, and then I saw a letter.
Speaker 1 (01:42:07):
I went out there with the ladder and got inspired.
Shut your mouth showing Michael oh.
Speaker 2 (01:42:14):
Man but hard, I mean he's probably pissed.
Speaker 1 (01:42:18):
I mean, Sky Hall was probably pissed too. He was
out there with him. I was out there too, bro
like I wanted to match. Everybody was team effort, bro
tam effort. Simon Dean clowned Joe Paturno my Penn State,
which was blasphemous back in two thousand and five. It's
(01:42:39):
funny now, different story.
Speaker 2 (01:42:42):
Yeah, he turned down Joe Paterno for the Simon system
because even he can't work miracles.
Speaker 1 (01:42:50):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
That was great Simon de Man.
Speaker 1 (01:42:55):
I enjoyed him. I wrote my notes. Who knows, maybe
Joe pa can posthumously pardoned for a crime he was
also not convicted for not convicted of. Maybe he can
get that too, maybe, like Pete Rose dumb, is that.
Speaker 2 (01:43:14):
Is it me?
Speaker 1 (01:43:15):
Or was Chris Jericho kind of rudderless?
Speaker 2 (01:43:18):
In two thousand and five he said the same thing
I said, he's just kind of going through the motions.
Speaker 1 (01:43:23):
Yeah, you know, it felt like it.
Speaker 2 (01:43:25):
I didn't like watching him, you know, because I remember
the Jercho of like w CW and then when he
came over the w WF he was hot on the
mic and even when he turned face like he was,
you know, against Triple H. And you know, some of
the Stephanie stuff is not great, but you know, he
was still like good and then it's just kind of
(01:43:45):
like he even on the mic, now it's just not
Chris Jericho, you know, So I don't know what was
going on.
Speaker 1 (01:43:52):
Yeah, that fire just didn't seem to be there. And
he did turn the heel. Maybe that was you know,
he needed that, you know, he did turn heel, go
against you on Sena. But then he left wrestling at
the end of this year two years for two years,
and maybe he was just ready for something new in
his life. You know, he had been on the road
for a lotted a long time, over a decade, probably
(01:44:13):
probably about two thousand and five and done, done it
all one titles, was the main event of WrestleMania been Babyface,
been heal, now his back Babyface, and was just kind
of there at this point. It felt like beating up
Simon Dean and then match that meant nothing like and eventually,
like I said, he would be in money in the
bank and they would he would lose to John Cena
(01:44:34):
I think it was SummerSlam, But just felt like he
was just kind of there, kind of odd to see
at this time.
Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
Yeah, and I.
Speaker 1 (01:44:42):
Felt like that back in five tell me as a
kid being like, that's Chris Jericho. And when he left,
I was like, I don't miss him.
Speaker 2 (01:44:50):
I think I remember reading like he wasn't going to
re sign or he was gonna go on tour with Fazzi,
so he I think after I read that it was
after WrestleMania at some point, but I remember I was like, oh,
that's probably why he's so boring right now, because you know,
but he's like Chris Jarco is still a name, so
(01:45:11):
he's gonna be on TV, but they're not going to
like put that title on him or anything like that.
So when he went in the feud with Sina, I
was just like, oh, well, clearly Sinah's gonna win.
Speaker 1 (01:45:21):
This obviously, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
And again he lost the year Fired match, you know,
like it was Sena and Jericho and Jericho got carried
out the building and stuff like that. So yeah, I
was like, all right, like I'm good on Jericho for
a bit. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:45:37):
Yeah. Another note, I forgot to mention this with Sean Michael.
He officially challenged Kurt Angle to a match at WrestleMania.
He went to Teddy Long and it's like, I need
you to deliver a message, and I guess I got
to him in the cell phones right, could have just
texted him, could have just emailed him, could have called him,
could have could have said something in the mail, even
(01:45:58):
you know, to post his stamp and all all that
just open up envelope. But just to screw you see
me at WrestleMania. That had have been hilarious. But eventually
Angle accepted and they put on a classic at WRESTLEMANI
one of my favorite WrestleMania matches of all time. Another note,
we're still cheering for Kine. I can't believe that. I
(01:46:21):
just can't believe it. I also hate JR. Calling Hassan
Muhammed Asians to use controversial as if I'm calling out
racism and xenophobia. Was controversial, but today that would be
called woke. But Hassan at this point was labeled a whiner,
and Benoit tried to stop his whining and start a
(01:46:42):
fight and then got dealt with on the spot. He
got stomped out. That's what happened, to go around picking
fights get stomped out. Lastly, my last note was that
two more notes, but one more I guess two more
miss losing count One is that Shelton Benjamin Molly wopped
(01:47:04):
Jean Snisky with a chair in the head.
Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
That was didn't the lawler say it sounded like a
gun shot something like that, Like it did.
Speaker 1 (01:47:13):
So much head trauma, bro. And this was a revenge
of Snitsky doing the same to Shelton Benjamin the week
before they were going back and forth trading head trauma.
Snisky was bleeding from the chin and looked like or
something like. It was bad. It looked bad, and Shelton's
all got he's got his evil face on, like face like,
(01:47:35):
so well, he's supposed to be showing his aggressive side.
I'm just I'm sure right, So gave him to Madge.
But last note from this show is the debut of
the masterpiece Chris Masters, which I was, as a teenager
confused as what his deal was supposed to be, Like
(01:47:56):
they kept calling in and unveiling, but they kept calling
it in unveiling. It's like, what are you talking about?
I'm again, I'm a teenager. I don't know all everything.
I'm like, what the hell are you talking about? Unveiling.
I didn't put two and two together as far as
a masterpiece being unveiled, but it just turned out to
be a jobber match against Stephen Richards or STEVIEE. Richards
and say, Stephen Richards, Yeah, but did us he had
(01:48:18):
a lot of them. I couldn't miss him. I wrote
my nose in hindsight. Masters probably shouldn't have debuted at
this time in hindsight, because it felt like he would
have been perfect for the day after WrestleMania. Yeah, you
wrap up all these stories with these big names like
the Undertaker and Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle and Batista
(01:48:39):
and Randy Orton and John Cena and jbl and Adie
Guerrero and Ready Mysterio and Edge and everybody else in
that Money in the Bank match, Chrispin Wad and Chris Jericho,
everybody else. But we got Chris Masters here too. What
the hell is he going to do? He's having jobber
matches now, he just you just it just felt like
(01:49:00):
you were begging for him to be overshadowed by everything
that's going on at that point, because there's so much
going on and they're all, you know, embarking on their
respective roads to WrestleMania. But now you debut him Masters,
I just say, and now you just kind of put
him in the background while these major stories are playing
out at the same time. It just felt like it
(01:49:21):
was bad timing and it felt like they today and
even like not long after this, they would do it differently.
They would debut Newtown after WrestleMania. But his Chris Master
is on the random episode, not only random episode of Raw.
But it's still just in February. It's a random time.
And now he's debuting about a month and change ahead
of WrestleMania. That's weird.
Speaker 2 (01:49:41):
That's weird. They did this, and they they did this
a few times. I know something in nineteen ninety eight
stands out because I went to w CW Nitro was
in Philly, but I went to I think it was
in Wells Fargo Center, but I went to the Spectrum
for like to watch it on TV. Ever they it
was stupid. They had like merchandise there or whatever, but
(01:50:03):
I couldn't go to the actual nightro, so we would
just go to like the Spectrum or whatever. And that
guy I taped the Raw and they had debuted val Venus,
I believe, on that episode of Raw, and it was
you know, the early part of March and WrestleMania was
the end of March so it was weird. And then
that was also the return of the Double J character
(01:50:25):
with Jeff Jarrett with Tennessee Lee. It was like they
were doing these new things before WrestleMania. But that was
also the night Undertaker came back in the casket that
came tried to incinerate, you know, at the Royal Rubble
and he was he sat up at everything. So like
they were debuting people before WrestleMania for quite a bit.
(01:50:47):
So I always wondered about their timeline about that.
Speaker 1 (01:50:50):
It's weird to me. I think they've they've they got
it right a couple of years later when they would
do that the day at the WrestleManias but made the
day of the WrestleMania so specially all the debuts and
all that, and they played into that, but at this
time that wasn't the case. And here's Chris Masters coming
out in his debut match to no reaction because nobody
knows who he is. And in his first match he
(01:51:13):
gives Stevie Richards the Polish Hammer Pauls but in the
midst of that breaks his nose and his orbitable orbitable
orbital bone. I can't say orbital right, orbital bone and
his debut. Wow, that sucks, obviously to his credit though
(01:51:38):
Chris Masters recently discussed this in the Chris van vliet
A Feliot interview, and he took he took accountability because
you know, that's that's tough, Like you don't want to
do that to somebody. But at the same at this
because at the time, I'm sure this wasn't the best
look for him. You know, he just came in. You
(01:52:00):
break in a veteran's nose in his first on your
first day in. I'm sure that didn't, you know, endear
him to the rest of.
Speaker 2 (01:52:08):
The locker He told Rick Flair to watch, he might
learn something.
Speaker 1 (01:52:13):
You might learn how to break someone's face open. That's
what you'll learn. But yeah, I'm sure that didn't necessarily
adhere him to other talent around the locker room. But
the thing is, he's also like a little more than
a month removed from his twenty second birthday. Wow, tough
start for a kid. Eventually, or essentially, I should say
(01:52:35):
not eventually. Essentially, he's a giant.
Speaker 2 (01:52:37):
Kid, get me wrong. Yeah, he's a.
Speaker 1 (01:52:39):
Massive human being. But he's still just twenty two and
he's already on the main Roster getting the push of
a lifetime potentially, and he breaks someone's news first day
in and poor Stevie Richards, who's lying on the ground,
like what just happened to me? Poor guy Philly his
own poort. Richmond's on Stevie, which is damn shame. That's
(01:53:02):
all of my random notes though from this episode of
Raw from February twenty first, two thousand and five. Do
you have anymore?
Speaker 2 (01:53:08):
I don't, but I will. I will say Chris Masters
always reminded me of Lex Luger when he debuted in
WWF at the ninety three Rumble when they did the
unveiling and he was in front of all the mirrors
and everything, and Bobby Huon was talking about how great
his body looked. I remember being like, I thought that
was awkward, and I was like seven years old, not
(01:53:30):
so so much awkward with Chris Masters because I was older,
and I was like, oh, it's just Lex Luger and
the ruthless aggression error, like basically how I viewed it.
Speaker 1 (01:53:40):
If Chris Masters is ten years older, he would have
been an IBF in no time. Oh yeah, oh man
was it? IBF was WBF WBFS Ico Pro was the
supplement that he was selling.
Speaker 2 (01:53:53):
Again, Lex was only going to be doing that, but
then it folded, so I was like, oh, I guess
we gotta have you wrestle, so you're gonna be the
narcissist and he comes in at the ninety three rumble, the.
Speaker 1 (01:54:04):
If is I'm pretty sure ib F is a boxing
federation talking about this whats.
Speaker 2 (01:54:11):
W b F.
Speaker 1 (01:54:13):
Yes, that was.
Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
It wasn't that far it's so similar that, yeah, because
Vince wants it to be so similar.
Speaker 1 (01:54:21):
I wasn't that far off. I wasn't that far off.
Speaker 2 (01:54:23):
There's gonna be a new boxing league. By the way,
do you see that?
Speaker 1 (01:54:26):
I did not see that. Who's doing that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:28):
Is by Dana White and uh oh yeah, oh, in
partnership with I don't know the name. I think it's
a Saudi Arabian.
Speaker 1 (01:54:43):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (01:54:46):
Like leadership, I think. But I didn't look too much
into it today.
Speaker 1 (01:54:50):
But then we'll see about that. I mean, I'm sure
they'll have the money to pay fighters, but yeah, this
sounds like me BBF. No, it'll sounds like more work
for the employees of the company. Yeah, we talked about
that in the Wrestle Nomic story. It's like, oh, they're
adding this, and they got the board riding, they got UFC.
Speaker 2 (01:55:10):
Of course, WWE's it's not like they're hiring all new teams.
Speaker 1 (01:55:13):
They're not. Yeah, they're not looking to like expand the
workforce necessarily in some areas at least maybe in some areas,
but not our areas apparently. So we'll see how that
goes in near future. But if you don't have any
other notes about February twenty first, two thousand and five
edition of Raw, then please take us out with some plugs.
