Unknown (00:03):
Oh, sorry, did I break your concentration?
Somewhere between science andsuperstition?
To show youStrange Aeons. Welcome to

(00:28):
Strange Aeons radio. That's Ericover there. That's Vanessa over
there. Good evening. I'm Kelly.
Hey, Vanessa. Your mom got herfirst shot. And coincidentally,
I had my first shot. Just beforeyou got here. Did you really Don
Julio 1942 went down.

(00:48):
My mom doesn't drink. I get thisone in one hour.
That's upsetting. Actually, shegot her second so she's fully it
will and I guess two weeksshe'll be good to go. She can go
raving fansshouldn't go to spring break and
like get crazy time, right?
Absolutely. You keep bringinghome all these beats.

(01:14):
He just hand them to you.
Know, I'm extremely excited forit. She's She's very much in the
age bracket. Um, but yeah, gother lined up, got her shoved in.
Yeah, she's also helped. Now Ican go to the grocery store and
not cry.

(01:35):
So just Sweden has been in thenews a lot lately, you guys, and
I thought it'd be interesting todiscuss whether or not we
believe the myth of theHollywood feminist might be
dead. Finally. Man, I lost a lotof faith in the world. Not Not
so long ago, because of Mr.
Wheaton. I feel so mad atmyself, actually, because his

(01:58):
wife had put out that publicletter, like five years ago,
maybe longer. And I rememberreading it and thinking I just
have some personal thing. Likeit's obviously like, this is
between them. It's theirrelationship. I don't know. And
now I'm like, What the fuck iswrong with me? Like she like she
was straight up like Yo,everybody this be who he be? And
we're like, but he's just sweet.

(02:20):
And we love you. And now I'mlike, Well, fuck charisma and
Sarah and like the chick whoplays Tara and I'm the girl who
plays fucking dawn.
Yeah, and I think he's sexuallyverted himself to those people.
But the fact that they were alllike he's toxic. garbage. It's

(02:41):
not good. Would you say that?
I mean, it's nice to pretendthat you're a feminist if you're
not because it almost means thesame thing. If if you just do
what you should be doingprofessionally. Yeah. But the
fact that charisma didn't feelcomfortable coming out at the

(03:03):
time this was happening, rightand that everybody else on the
show was seeing stuff like thisand didn't feel the need to say
anything. Or maybe not the needbut but felt, you know, the
repercussion could be I nolonger have a job. Yeah. Do we
then finally, I think that this, this happens in Hollywood,
constantly. Hollywood has beenmaking movies about how awful

(03:25):
Hollywood is, since all thatstuff. So part of me is like,
Look, if you get into thiscareer, you have to maybe not be
okay with it. But not besurprised by it, sir. And do we
finally now? Because Joss wasjust so he was held so high?

(03:46):
Yeah.
Do we stop and say, Okay, can westop putting human beings on
pedestals because, Vanessa, you're a lovely human being?
Eric, you're probably the nicestperson in the world. I know. And
I guarantee you, there's someoneout there who thinks you're the
biggest soul on the planet, because we all have that in us

(04:09):
for a little bit or a lot orwhatever.
My my whole thing is, I can't becanceled because I never
pretended to be a nice person inthe first place. So anybody who
tells you how awful I am, you'regonna be able to go. Yeah, that
tracks. Yeah. But he pretendedto be somebody. Yeah. And I
think that there's, I've I'vedefinitely come to a place with

(04:32):
people as a whole, where I've nolonger listen to what they've
said. I've watched what they'vedone. And if somebody's saying
I'm, I've, I believe in votingrights or I believe in women's
rights women's should be on set.
I think vo C's should be on set.
Well, did they hire PCs or theirPCs? leads? Do they support

(04:53):
women? Have they given money orshowed up at an event or, you
know, actions are where it's atI think that Joss definitely
spoke a big talk and I guessbecause he had a show with
several shows with female leads, people were apt to believe him
but i don't know i don't thinkyou'd like. I think that people
who abuse systems will be thefirst ones to say they are the

(05:14):
solution for those systems.
down I agree with that. Iremember on the set of our film
Eric was arguing to get morewomen on there and more women
crew and I was like, look atthis. Oh my god no on a dry
vote.

(05:35):
Hey, man, when I slippery slopewhen I became a landowner, I was
like, Oh, I finally I finallyI get to wear pants. This is
extremely exciting for me now Imight get shot in the street,
but it's worth it. I think partof the problem is assuming it's
just Hollywood stuff. We hearabout those because they're in
the news. They're what peopletalk about the my brush with

(06:02):
sexist, I guess problems waswhen I was working retail at
suncoast. I know Kelly's heardthis story, probably a few
times. But I was promoted tomanager at the store and I walk
in the door my first day. Andthey're like, you have to fire
this employee. He's beencomplained about by three. Three
women in the store like freakingthere's only three women working

(06:23):
in the store. Five people in thestore is all so day one. I had
to fire somebody for sexualharassment. He was a creepy
dude, too. Oh, so this was areal? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. You're
gonna tell me this. Somehowyou're gonna twist this story
and find out that it all beenall the made. Oh, my God. No,
no.

(06:46):
No, no. You met him at one pointwe shot something with him at
your house ages ago. Your oldhouse. I don't remember what
we're shooting. But he he did.
been long enough. nobody'stalking about 30 years,
probably. But he he did HighSchool video, he would do high
school football games. And hecame up to me one time when I'm

(07:09):
working. LikeI do those high school games
like yeah, another camera. Ishoot the cheerleaders. You want
to see that video? No, I reallydon't.
So it wasn't a big surprise.
When I was told I had to firethis particular individual. When
effective media I walked in theysaid, This is what he's owed,

(07:32):
pull it out of the tail, give itto him and walk him out the door
my day.
Oh, my God. I mean, like, Ithink you're right. I think it's
in all industries. And duringthe me to movement, a lot of
women came out of the hotelindustry was like, Yeah, like
it's everywhere. And it's justany time in which there is a
power play in action. It's gonnaexist and it and the easy ones

(07:58):
or whether isn't the powerdynamic and action where it's
just like, that guy's creepy.
Okay, great. No problem. We cantake care of that. No big
shakes. But if it's my highschool teacher that something
then it's like, oh, well, you'rejust lying because he gave you
an F. Oh, man. Right. Do youhave another fun story? Junior
High? Yes. Junior High. Good oldO'Leary, Twin Falls, Idaho.

(08:21):
There was a teacher there whoapparently he was one of those
teachers that all the girlsliked.
fairly good looking guy. UntilApparently, he was having an
affair with one of the students.
They're in junior high. Oh mygod. The parents found out about
it and moved out of town. Yeah.
And he followed them. Oh, myGod.

(08:48):
And subsequently was arrestedand you know, kinda, yeah, no,
I've heard that. I mean, I'veheard that exact story. When I
was working with real girls, wehad a student who had
experienced something verysimilar. And she was under 16.
So it's just like, what the youI know, it's all I mean, I
remember in swim team, there wasthis kid who used to show up and

(09:09):
take pictures of us. And Iremember my friend, Marianne
who's like, She's like afeminist her core whether or not
she wants to be she just can'thelp it. She like got out of the
pool, walked over to him startscreaming at him, like grabbing
his camera, like yelling it andthen yelling at the coaches and
saying why the fuck is this guyallowed to sit here and take
pictures of us in our swimsuits?
And everyone I remember at thetime everyone's like, God was

(09:32):
Maryann's deal that That girl issuch a bitch. Yep. And that's
like what you get That's whatyou get for saying hey, I'm
calling out on this person.
Yeah, I'm really enjoying thisdynamic. I really enjoyed your
story but being such a bitchYou know, it's I mean like look,

(09:54):
I i've under I've seen it onset. I've complained about
onset, almostdid walk off of us that oh wow
from stuff like this and andthen I was asked to politely
returned aside so and it wouldbe quote unquote taken care of
so like I don't know what to itexists like ramping lay and like
I said if if you're more ifyou're wondering about the

(10:16):
people around you just look atwhat they do, just close your
ears and open your eyes and justsee what they do and that'll
tell you everything you need toknow about him. Well, I'm
keeping my mouth shut from nowon.
The other thing I wanted toshare with you guys you know how
sometimes we have argumentsabout stuff? Well, I decided to
keep a log here. Oh my god. Thisbook says my list of things I

(10:38):
was right about all I'll benoting that
I see the blank right now. Ijust got the book.
Number one fidessa complaint.
I was right. I just bought it.
So I hadn't heard anything thatstarted it at 100 volume to

(11:03):
you guys. I did a Frank Grillodouble feature this well. Did
you? I did. Eric. I know you'veseen one of these movies. Okay.
Boss level, which is on a map. Ijust ran across that like two
hours ago. I was flippingthrough something that is such a
cool movie. Yes.
It is. I guess I would describeit like Groundhog's Day meets

(11:27):
Deadpool.
That's good. Guns and comedy andridiculousness and it's a time
loop. And it's got Mel Gibson init as well. Okay. And he's
savior heknow isn't anti semitic rants,
he doesn't deny the Holocaust orcall a cop sugar tits even once.

(11:49):
Oh my god. That's amazing. Yeah,I'm pretty. You know what? I'm
proud. Anybody stand up and givehim a little
pause right now. We go. Well, hewas he was very good at it. He's
got a very small part. And hekind of plays the kind of role I
think he's going to continue tobe able to do if he keeps acting

(12:09):
movies where he's complete backround.
And then the the second or thesecond part of that devil
feature was called cosmic sin, which is Frank Grillo and Bruce.
Why am I blanking on diehardsname? Well, as well as Thank
you.
Wow. Now and there's no reasonyou should Yeah, it's brand now

(12:32):
What the hell happened to BruceWillis? Man, he's got a
mortgage.
Oh, sure.
What the hell is that? Well, itsounds like my neighbors are
vacuuming the walls again.
It sounds like there's liquidinside their backyard.
Like the sea is being vacuum.
Yeah, I thought you're sinkingback again. But maybe worse. We
do have an advantage with thesemics is their range is lower. So

(12:56):
hopefully it won't pick it up asmuch as the other one.
Well, that's what I watched. Iwould say this.
Eric and I actually got a wouldyou call it Eric a maverick.
didn't mean that.

(13:17):
Boss level. So we saw quite awhile ago. And it's one I will
watch again. Now that it isavailable on Hulu. And I suggest
anyone who likes actionadventure. It's filthy. So
there's that but that's true.
And then just pass on cosmicsaid.
Sure. After that last BruceWillis when I watched I can't

(13:38):
remember what it was. But it wasjust awful. Yeah. Not just
though this isn't any good. Itwas just flat out bad. I think
the last five minutes wasbad, including like diehard
seven or whatever. LikeChernobyl versus man.
Good movie. I don't think I'veseen that one. If he punches,

(13:59):
you know, radiation in the faceand wins. You know, you're in
too deep.
Do you see anything better thanthat? Well, so I checked out a
film. And it was actually on myfriend's Plex. I don't know how
you get a hold of it, but it wascalled tone deaf. Which is a

(14:20):
nice little horror film. Yeah, agirl is tone deaf and does not
play the piano well, but no onehas the guts to tell her that
she sucks. She gets dumped byher boyfriend decides to go to
an Airbnb. She's She's very mucha hipster, millennial hipster
and maybe even a younger thanmillennial hipster. And the guy

(14:41):
who she gets Airbnb from hasreached that point in his life
where he's decided he reallywants to go ahead and experience
murder.
decided to become a serialkiller now that his his children
are grown. His wife is passed onand you know, he's ready up.
With a hobbyand her father who's deceased,

(15:02):
visits her and dreams a lot andhe's played by the data and Twin
Peaks Ray wise. Yeah, very wise.
And he's extremely good. It hada good promise and it was sold
to me as being like fuckinghilarious. Amazing. I thought it
was fine. Because the the tonedeafness come into the story,

(15:25):
um, because she's tone deaf.
Yeah, but does she use thatsomehow to it's just like this
ongoing joke? Oh, it's just aconstant ongoing joke. Is this a
comedy? It's a comedy horror.
Okay. Yeah, yep, yep. So yeah. Irecommend if you like comedy
horror to check it out, becauseyou'll probably love it. I just
did not get in comedy. I'm notthe right audience or any of

(15:46):
them. I have no humor. I have nohumor. I'm the most humorless
son of a gun.
Speaking of, I guess it was kindof humor Farsi. I watched one of
those pop up on Amazon movies.
Killer sofa. Oh my god. I thinkI feel like I've heard of this
one. No, I've heard killerbackpack. Yeah, watch that one.
Do Is this new. 2019. Okay.

(16:11):
Yeah, again.
Surprising, actually, I wasexpecting a repeat of something
like killer backpack or thedeath bed the bed that eats up
but it was not. It wasludicrous, sir. It's and I don't
know if maybe it was a camera, what country it came from? Who

(16:31):
was us or another country?
Because it's not a sofa. It'slike a lazy boy. Chair. I don't
know. Maybe some other countrycalls those sofas, but it has
two little button eyes, youknow, kind of in the middle. Oh
my god and Peewee Herman Yeah, yes. And the

(16:51):
the legend is there's this onewoman in the movie, who
everybody obsesses over and thelegend comes out that that's
like the line of her family. Allthe women in her family have had
obsession problems. It'sactually a Jewish demon.
Everybody talks about golems.
But this actually is a differentlegend. Jewish legend. This is
the devic that we're talkingabout. Yeah, that's a possession

(17:13):
movie. Yeah. And it possesses asofa.
And it kills people and doesstuff and it's it's actually
surprisingly decent. It's notgreat. And it could be that my
ex space expectations are killerbackpack level which I had one

(17:33):
good scene, but you know what?
actually worth watching. Yeah, Iremember rubber having that
effect on me. I was like, Youknow what? Not completely awful.
It was nowhere near that weirdwas actually a very
straightforward story at all.
Yeah, but that well, rubber wasreally weird. Yeah. The fans
watching fromthe desert that followed him

(17:56):
around watching it like it was alive action movie or something.
I don't even remember that part.
I must have blocked it out. Iremember getting stuck in the
swimming pool. Butyou know, maybe it's because I
enjoy bro number a movies nowthat this seems better than it?
Maybe it is. But I don't know. Ienjoyed it. And it was really,
really silly. I'll check thatout. Because also on my watch

(18:19):
list is slacks that just showedup on shettar pair of jeans.
I have we've run out of ideas asa race of this name by the
people who did turbo cut towhid.
Are you serious? I mean, Iwatched the preview and I was
like, oh, okay, I'm putting thison my watch. Okay, secondary

(18:40):
question. Does the filmmakershave to the filmmakers have
killer turbo kid whenever theyrun out of ideas?
Wow. I'm just wondering. Ithappens mental. It happens to us
all. And just putting it outthere.
I watched another movie. Yes.
Riah and the last dragon. Oh,I came out of nowhere. How would

(19:05):
you think it would be? I mean,it's a Disney movie. So there's
a 65% chance it's okay. I lovedit Really?
Happy.
The dragon is voiced byAquafina. I don't know who this
is, but I don't particularlylike her voice. Okay. But she's

(19:27):
a memo, a lot ofstrange stuff. She has one kind
of zone. She's sort of placedthe same thing. That might have
been Yeah, I thought that shewas the weak link in this. But
everything else I really, reallyloved. I'm sure that it is on
some list of offending somebody.
Sure. You know, some kind ofcourse cultural appropriation

(19:49):
went on somewhere, I'm sure. ButI really really enjoyed it. And
I mean, Disney. Watch that withmy mom. I'll put that on the
list. Yeah.
Yeah, it's it's one of those.
It's it's a feel good movie.
Yeah. Nice. Very cool. So Ifinished up watching a wonder

(20:10):
vision, because we've all seen.
Yeah, we've all Yeah, good.
Okay, so yeah, I finishedwatching one division was, I
really loved it. I mean, overall, as the whole series
goes, I was definitely blownaway. And then I proceeded to
watch Infinity War, because Iwas trying to remember what
happens in Infinity War versusendgame. And every single thing

(20:30):
I remembered was only frominfinity or, like, doesn't the
whole thing and with the battlein Wakanda, and my friend was
like, No, that's just aninfinity war. I was like, Are
you sure? Because then theylike, you know, they're trying
to like rewrite vision and like, and then the, and then the, and
they're like, yeah, and then usand snap and Emily. Wait, what

(20:53):
happens in game? So I now haveto rewatch a game because I know
I'm like I kind of vaguelyremember. I've seen both of them
three times in the theater. hopeshe's I know this is Marvel,
black hole in my brain forMarvel movies, but one division
was great, and I had a enjoyabletime. Did you guys like it? What
What were your overall feelings?

(21:15):
Well, Eric's man crush got weepyonline about it. Ivan Smith
cried. I think if it's Marvel, and something happens he or Star
Wars.
I thought it was just fine. Notears were shed here.
But I liked it. I didn't lovewhat they did with Quicksilver

(21:36):
with Phl. I was kind ofdisappointed in the end with
what they're where they landed.
But I do recall that Jimmy woosaid the entire reason they had
found out about Westview is thename of the town was Westfield,
Westfieldwas because they had a witness
go offline.

(21:59):
And now I'm like, could could hehave been because he still had
the super speeds? Yeah. And thatAgatha didn't give him the
superspeed I feel like there'ssomething more going on. And I
hope there's something moregoing on. Because I think that
there, that's just too strong ofan idea that I just can't stand
the idea that like they justlost it. And he's just some bro.

(22:22):
Right? Who was like an actorwith I didn't understand the
headshots thing like, Did heapply to Agatha to be like, Oh,
can I? Can you brainwash me? Iwould, I would think that I
mean, Marvel has got all thisdialed in so tightly. Now they
think that they would be like,we can't do this. Yeah, there's
the only my only disappointmentwith the choices is that having

(22:47):
now delved a little bit furtherinto the comics, I mean, there's
like 100 years worth of stuff.
So I can't say that I know much.
What I do know is that Agatha isa good kind of guy. Because she
trains her to do everything. Andshe's overall seen as being
like, on the side of good. Sothat was very confusing to me,

(23:08):
because I kept waiting for herto be like, and I'm going to
train you and I'm going to showyou how to use things or I'm
going to show you how to usethis, to turn it into something
else. And instead it was like, actually, I'm just a Haha, bad
guy. Oh, yeah, I think sheshows. I think when she
originally shows up, she's a badguy. And then something happens
where they kind of where shetalks to her where she points

(23:31):
out You are the Scarlet which Ithink is sort of, then they
started to rotate her backtowards the protector as opposed
to the well I was talking aboutin the comics like in the 60s
when Ava Harkness she was avillain and then something and
she was an old lady. Yeah, shewent all in and then something
happened where she ended upbeing like the you know, I don't

(23:54):
want to say the babysitter, butyeah, she really was Mickey for
Rocky, like, well, she's mentorbut I mean, when when they have
their kids, she's kind of thethe mother in law that comes in
and takes care of the kids whilethey're off adventuring. Oh,
interesting. I know that therewas something that happens where
she dies and comes back fromwhen I was reading the lore. So

(24:14):
that might be part of it. Likeshe comes back does sound like a
comic book thing to me though?
Well,there's a lot of there's a lot
of branches and a lot of stuffout there. Wikipedia is just not
useful enough. I think it'sfunny that you went and did that
because after that finish, Iwent on a crazy Marvel rewatch
thing and I watched like, I amin two and three Avengers Age of

(24:38):
Ultron.
And game the Infinity War andgame, Captain America and
America Civil War andall this stuff. And there were a
lot of those movies that Ithought were so so that I've
watched now and I was like whatwas wrong with me civil war?
wars. Yeah, but I didn't like itwhen it came out, saying

(25:00):
I hated Civil War when I firstnow and yeah and now I'm like
sexual pretty good. Like manWhat was I thinking? Yeah and I
do understand why I had probablya hard time remembering Infinity
War because there's just so muchgoing on simultaneously that I
was like, and I'm going toforgive myself on this one

(25:20):
because I'm like at the end ofthe movie I don't remember
what's happened. What'shappening? Oh, well wait what
why Star Lord here?
Gotta start off at 20 some oddMarvel movies again.
That's right, Thor doze off tosun start a son and then all the
thing and then gets burnt andthen what? And then Oh, that's

(25:42):
right. Groot does give his armto become a handle. By the way,
I also watched a re watched Thordark world and that sucked as
much as I thought. Oh God, Iremember going and seeing that
in the theater in London likegetting off work going straight
to the movie theater sittingdown, falling asleep 10 minutes
and waking up not being any moreimpressed going back to sleep.

(26:06):
That movie was just no good.
Yeah, that was not not not thebest Thor movie by a longshot. I
haven't yet to consciously makemy way through that movie. Nice.
Okay, well, now for somethingcompletely completely different.
Yes, yes. One that I'd wanted tosee for a long time and somehow
kept missing. I go to watch itand pop out of away from whoever
was streaming it or get introuble. shutter started showing

(26:29):
the devil'sthe Oliver Reed Vanessa Redgrave
73 years and watch this tillrecently. And I you know,
because had I never seen it. AndDamn, it's a

(26:51):
the, its lore is so strong orthe legend of how and maybe it's
because you know, I'm notCatholic, or, but it intensity
was not what I was expecting. Iwas expecting a lot more
over the top. Although when itgoes over the top, it goes

(27:12):
almost comedically over the topas part of the problem. Did you
like it? Yeah. I thought I wasgonna get a lot more out of it
than I did. I think that this isone that I had always been
wanting to watch. And I hadheard so much about and then
watching it. I was like, No, no,I mean, Oliver Reed was fucking
great. That's what I liked aboutit the most easily, easily. I

(27:33):
didn't even recognize VanessaRedgrave until maybe, you know,
10 minutes from the end. I waslike, Oh, yeah, that's Vanessa
Redgrave. Okay, I was wonderingwhere she's been this entire
movie cheese, the secondarylead.
Although I'd have to say one ofmy favorite parts was when the
king gave them the vial ofChrist's blood. I thought that

(27:54):
was a hell of a jab. That's likeit.
First of all, I guess I wantedit to be like overtly
supernatural or something. Andthen at the end, I was kind of
like, what did you expect? Well,I can't think of a Ken Russell
movie that I have liked. If I'mbeing honest. Ken Russell is one

(28:16):
of those guys who I directory soI
I enjoy their films, his films, liking them is probably a
stretch. I find him aninteresting filmmaker, and I
enjoy watching what he does, butI don't think I can't think of a
single one of his movies. I'vewatched more than once. Yeah.
I wonder if like having grown upCatholic if I would have a

(28:38):
different impression of this onyou guys, but possibly, yeah,
it's hard to know.
Available now on shutter Hey,yo, I added it to my queue. I
think the thing that was alsodisappointing was I had heard
that the ending was somethingmuch different than what the
ending was. And I was like,Where's the gigantic orgy? Yeah,

(29:00):
isn't the trailer maybe thetrailer gives a hint that
something else happens because Iremember thinking like it's
super fucking crazy over the topmadness movie. Well, it made me
wonder if we were watching aedited for TV version or so I
mean, obviously not because, yes, certainly some seats in
there that I was like, Oh, myguess is I would think some some
people would see that scene likeI was referencing with the blood

(29:22):
comes out where the nuns are allrunning around, and might call
that an orgy. Oh, like a likeeveryone's in an intense
emotional state. Yeah, I mean, there's some sex going on, but
there's not a lot butI also thought the
that church or hot building, whatever that thing they built

(29:45):
was really impressive. I'm gladI finally was able to see it.
But yeah, it was like I justsaid with any other one of his
movies, I I don't think I ownany of his films. And I probably
maybe ifYeah, down the line. Severin or
shopfactory comes out with areally cool heavy box set full
of cool stuff. Maybe, but Idon't revisit his films very

(30:09):
much. What are some well known10 layer the white worm,
probably is best known from Oh,and be his best film. Yeah,
still not very good. I feel likeyeah, I've heard his name many
times, but I have no idea. Idon't think I've seen a movie
called whore that he called hisreaction to Pretty Woman. Oh,

(30:29):
God, and it was I think thatmight be its worst movie. is if
I was supposed to be this iswhat being a hooker is really
lies like, it's really juststrange sexual place. sex
workers. Apologize to all thehackers out there. Hey, Vanessa,
you know, how many orgies thatwere in the devil's zero. Done.

(30:58):
Oh,it's so sad. Why don't we take a
break? Non jerks ladies andgentlemen non jerks. Well, he
did have one you might likealtered states. Oh, shall we?
I do too. Because it's a it's alinear story with an ending that
kind of makes sense. Yeah, kindof. But yeah, he's done a lot of

(31:22):
freaking movies. But anyways, break. Sure. Yeah, let's take a
break. Get all our non orgynotes together and we're talking
about none orgies when we getback. Wait, wait, I didn't
research them. We'll be rightback.

(31:46):
Your squad is ready for you tolead them through with Johnny
seven. Oh, ma you charge.
Five but Johnny. Watch out.
We really are Michelle fire inthe tank rockin
Johnny sevens got him on therun. Johnny fires qualifying

(32:10):
arrival.
Tommy got a cat firingwith Johnny 701 man.
It's seven guns in one. Let'scount him.
On the gun.
Gun. Firing rifle.
Honey gunbunker gun firing. There's no

(32:32):
other gun right? It can be sure.
Johnny seven oh ma Oh, one manon a bike topper.
We have returned. And this is mysub genre. I chose Second

(32:54):
Amendment. And before we getinto this, I'll just let you
know that I am a gun owner. Oh,I am a multiple gun owner. Oh my
god, where are they don't tellme they're in the oven.
The microwave, look in therefrigerator and and I believe
in gun control laws and learninghow to use a firearm and

(33:17):
researching all of that stuff.
So I will just say that I gotthe gun because of my neighbors.
Then when I started going to therange and getting fairly decent
at it, I ended up really likingit realizing I was pretty good
at it. So then I bought adifferent gun than about a
different gun. And I was like, Iwant to get good at every gun.

(33:41):
Absolutely no, I get it. I getit. For sure. I'm I'm pretty
anti gun. But that's that's apersonal thing. I but I'm very
pro. Look, I'm fine. People canhave guns when they know how to
use them and have trained andare not just going to
dangerously run around flailingwith them. And perhaps not a gun
that just does a million bulletsa second for no reason. Because

(34:03):
that's not protection. That'sjust murder. I saw an
interesting report. I can'tremember where it was from but
they were in Switzerland hasvery similar gun laws to
Switzerland, or Sweden has verysimilar gun laws to us. But the
respect for the weapon and it'svery different. And the guy who
was interviewing looked at oneof the guys who's talking to who

(34:23):
had a gun on He's like, Can Isee your gun and the look on the
guy's face? I'm like, Are youfucking kidding me? I am never
handing you my gun ever was justlike, Oh, wow. Yeah. And it
wasn't like he was angry. It'sjust like, nobody ever asks to
touch another person's gun ever.
It was really, really actuallyreally interesting. That's

(34:43):
fascinating. I mean, they haverequired military service.
There's nothing in Switzerland.
Am I crazy?
No, they probably they might. Iknow that. They make amazing
knives. Yes. Army Knife when yougo free.
So I feel like I've heard thatalmost every Swiss person, at
least people who do service, they all have a weapon. So that,

(35:08):
you know, that would make a lotof sense to me as to why I have
a Swiss Army knife. And well, the problem is that was built on
guns, you know, from the OldWest. And so we have a much
different relationship than theunfortunate thing is, I feel
like anyone wants a gun shouldhave to like, no, that's not. I
feel likethere was an idea of America and

(35:30):
why we needed a weapon. And thatwas to protect ourselves, not
only from crazy people, but alsofrom the elements. And I feel
like having taken hikes throughAlaska. It's fucking terrifying
to walk through the woods inAlaska without a weapon, because
of a grizzly bear which theresilience of you you die.
There's no like, in between, like, they decided to take you

(35:53):
out, you are gone. So I feellike that is the kind of
mentality I wish we stillcarried with us. Like, this is a
serious thing. Well, we're doinga rare recording at night here.
And as I let you loose onthat, so you tell me, what do
you think? I mean, like you I'mnot talking to you. It's like

(36:15):
Escape from New York.
I damn near guarantee you thereis a very small percentage of
people that have saw what yousaw going outside your door, but
wouldn't haveor outside your window. I mean,
right, like, right. Where theseagulls saying out? Yes, that
is true. Yeah. That was, thatwas a moment. Yeah. Yeah.

(36:39):
Anyway. So with all of thatbeing said, Yes. What I chose
was a movie from 1977 calledRolling Thunder.
His name is Charles rain. He'sbeen away for eight years.

(37:03):
Now, he's coming home. Speakingfor myself, I'd like to say that
the whole experience has made abetter man, a better officer and
a better American. Thank youvery much. But the world has
changed. I've been with anotherman.
And he's changed to pull it upnear like, you're gonna take me

(37:24):
clear on up to the ceiling ora higher man higher to be the
bone starting to crack higher.
Just drop everything.

(37:46):
With you driving too slow. It'sgonna take some time to readjust
your husband. He's got a wholebag of silver dollars if I don't
know don't please don'tface an accent. Anything. I can
just let it slide major. Theydon't have any right to live.

(38:09):
There's a storm brewing in thisman. They took his arm. They
took his family and his soul.
Anger is building and it's goingto explode. Now from Paul
Schrader. Before sort of taxidriver comes a new and
shattering film, about a manpoised on the brink of violence.

(38:32):
Rolling Thunder starring Williamde vane is Charles rain.
He has a purpose. He has a plan.
It's only a matter of time. Ifound the man I'll kill my son.
I'll just get my gear.

(38:54):
There's a four that came into myhome.
And there's Adriana let's getrolling thunder.
1977 days budget of $5 million.
Box Office $130 million.

(39:19):
Whoa, areyou serious Rolling Thunder was
that big of a moment? RottenTomatoes the critics 86% 78%
from the audience. It wasdirected by john Flynn, who
directed bestseller lock up theStallone movie out for justice,
the Seagal and it was written bythis this film is kind of

(39:42):
something else written by PaulSchrader families you've heard
of taxi driver, American Gigolo,Raging Bull, Last Temptation of
Christ and 23 other films. Healso was the director of the cat
people, remake and the Dominionthe This is prequel one.

(40:04):
It was also written by HaywoodGould wrote the boys from
Brazil, Fort Apache, the Bronxand cocktail among others. Whoa,
Lord, yeah. Stars William devane, who has 125 credits
ranging from Gunsmoke to theDark Knight Rises in the middle
of that 266 episodes of Knott'slanding. Whoa, run msma

(40:28):
also stars very young Tommy LeeJones was 84 credits, including
the eyes of Laura Mars, blackmoon rising Batman Forever. And
the men in black franchise, oh,amazing.
Glorious to facelift.
Also stars Linda Haynes, who wasin coffee, the Drowning Pool and
human experiments.

(40:49):
Is that a movie or like actions, that's why we've never heard
from her again. Her last rolewas in human experiments. And
that was it.
So in 1973, major Charles rainreturns home to San Antonio,
with a couple other soldiersthat he has been spending seven
years as a prisoner of war inHanoi. He returns to a home

(41:12):
where his son doesn't reallyremember it. And he finds out
that his wife has gotten engagedto a police officer friend of
his because he's been missingfor seven years. And they all of
a sudden do his stature.
arraignyou can tell rain is damaged.
And he just kind of stoicallyaccepts the fact that his wife,
you know, she has feelings forhim, and she's happy to see him

(41:33):
and everything. And she lets himknow that I'm engaged to the
cop. And he, he kind oftakes it all, you know, like,
and she's Oh, you know, you mustthink I'm awful. And he says,
No, I don't think you're awful.
What were you supposed to do,but you can tell that it's not a
it's not a I feel sad that thisis happening. It's a I shut down

(41:55):
because I can't really work insociety right now. And all that
what he does is he self imposesthe same daily regimen, regime
he had in captivity, which is todo all of these,
these setups and stuff likethat, and

(42:17):
the police officer friendattempts to make, you know, good
with him and says, you know, really sorry about this, and,
and he's just like, you know,no, I get it, this is what
happens.
And they start talking toeverything. He's telling them
how, you know how difficult itwas there in the camp and has
him, he shows him this thingabout tying his arm behind his

(42:39):
back and then starts telling thecop to start yanking on it
harder and harder. Just to kindof show him what he was going
through every day. She's and theCOP is starting to feel very
uncomfortable, because he'slike, I'm gonna break your arm
because he won't break my arm.
And, you know, stuff like this.
So.
So this is where his mind is at.
Meanwhile, the town has givenhim like this hero's welcome

(43:00):
when he shows up and everythingwhich he is clearly very
uncomfortable with. But they'vegot this big, huge celebration,
and he is presented with a brandnew red Cadillac.
And 2555 silver dollars, one forevery day, he was a captive plus
one pillock. Jesus Christ.
That's awful. Yeah. And it'spresented this by this, this

(43:23):
pretty girl, this Texas Bell, who has worn his ID bracelets
since he left now this must besomething that happened in
Vietnam that I don't know aboutwhere somebody from your
hometown would wear your IDbracelet or something. I don't
know. But, but it's, you know, this isn't 77. So keep in mind,
this is really only a couple ofyears since Vietnam has ended.

(43:47):
At one point, rain is homealone, now he's living with his
wife and his son, but they'regetting ready to do this stuff.
He's home alone.
Andhe is set upon by four men in a
home invasion. Who saw him getall those silver dollars, and
they want themand they start beating the shit
out of him and, and, and tellinghim you know, give us the money

(44:11):
and all this stuff. Tell uswhere it is. And he he doesn't
say a thing, although during it.
He's starting to flashback tobeing tortured and the camp and
all this stuff. And basically,he just kind of shuts down which
really pisses them off. So theygrab him, and they drag him over
to the sink. And they jam hishand in the garbage disposal.
Oh, no, no, and they Mangle itand he doesn't make a sound.

(44:36):
They'remore and more angry with him.
Fortunately, his wife and soncome home at that point, and the
son is freaking out and he's notI'll tell you where the money's
at and all this stuff. So theythey kick the rain. He drops by
the sink, and the sun goes andgets the money and they

(45:00):
Look at it now. All right, sothey start walking out but they
also shoot his son and his wifeshe said then turn around shoot
him.
Yeah, ask you to stop.
That's the setup the NASA. Don'tever watch 70s Revenge movies, I

(45:22):
can tell you now avoid this onedeathwish the enforcer. Anytime
there's a garbage disposal, I'mnot going to be happy guys. This
is a step above the garbagedisposal scene is very tasteful
in that they shot it. And it wasso gory in the test audience
that that people were standingup and screaming. So they cut
it.

(45:42):
The actual Wow, I'm concerned.
So several weeks later rain isrecovering in the hospital.
Where is the gal that that thatpresented him with the silver
dollars, she comes in and visitshim all this stuff. And then
his, his fellow soldier voldencomes in. And that's Tommy Lee

(46:06):
Jones. He basically tells rainthat he's signed back into the
military for another 10 years, because he just doesn't know how
to how to deal with being out ofthe military now. So rain is
just charged and he immediatelygoes home. He's got a new
prosthetic, one of those grabbyhook things. Sure. He goes into

(46:27):
the woodshop and sharpens theshit out of that.
He takes his shotgun and sawsthe end off.
And he he goes hunting for theguys who did all this. Yeah. And
he knows they're down in Mexico.
So that's what he said. He findsone of the guys down there and
immediately skewers him in thecrotch with his hook. But after

(46:50):
that he barely escapes with hislife while the other guys are
after him. So back in Texas, hiscop friend, he finds the end of
the sawn off shotgun. And he'slike God dammit.
Exactly what he's up to. So hewould cop so he's able to kind
of trace the car and he's gothis conference like now for it
and everything. They tell him.
He's down to Mexico and he endsup going down there. And he ends

(47:12):
up getting into a fight agunfight with the guys who did
all this stuff to rain and theykill him. No, Tommy. So
next time we see him he isdressed in full uniform, and he
goes to his buddy votans house.
That's Tommy Lee Jones. AndTommy Lee Jones sees him asks no

(47:33):
questions, immediately gets intohis uniform and grabs his guns
andrain basically tells him here's
what we're gonna do. I'm glad tohear he survived. I thought he
was the first guy. Alright, I'mwith you. Right. So
he says, I know that. These guysare camped out in this

(47:54):
whorehouse down here andorganized. And again, what kind
of house it's a whorehousefor sex trafficker.
So they go down there. They'renot dressed in their uniforms
when they get down there.
And voting goes in first. And hepicks up a prostitute named and
he guesseslucky. Cyril voting to it's

(48:16):
always candy. It's candy. It'scandy and Highlander. It's candy
and really thunder. I rememberthere being a prostitute in my
name's candy. Of course you.
So long goes in, he picks upprostitutes and candy. And once

(48:38):
they're upstairs, rain sneaksand takes out a guard in the
rear and goes in the back andshifts what Eric was horribly
doing.
God forbid, he sneaks into thethe bedroom of the guy who had
mangled his hand kicks up in thedoor.

(49:01):
He's in there with a prostitute.
And he basically says, it's yourtime boy, and blows him away in
the bed.
And votan, who's in the otherroom with the prostitute. As
soon as he hears the gunshot.
She's like, startled, he justsits up immediately reaches
under the bed and starts puttingtogether a rifle. And she's
like, What the fuck are youdoing? His response? I'm going
to kill a bunch of peoplelike that are pretty impressive

(49:25):
what he says. And then agigantic gunfight ensues. And
I'll let you know how it ends.
When you watchthis movie is really good. It's
not your typical revengethriller because it's, it's more
about the PTSD and his is just,it's it's super sad because you

(49:51):
realize, through no fault of hisown, this guy is never going to
integrate back into society.
He's just not going to beable to do that especially, it
would have been bad enough if hewas over there and then he came
back but he was over therecaught and then spent seven
years being tortured with stuff.
So I got a little bit of triviahere.

(50:12):
The famous scene where rainshand is put into a garbage
disposal was originally a lotmore graphic. There was
originally a shot of his handgetting destroyed. Oh, was
filmed with a fake hand and lambshank, which made it look very
realistic. When the movie waspreviewed audience members
reacted very strongly. Accordingto writer Heywood Gould, one

(50:36):
woman fainted another person raninto the lobby and demanded his
money back and another guy wasso freaked out that he entered
in his car in the parking lotand crashed into another car.
Oh, so after that preview, theshout of reins Han inside the
disposal was cut.
In his 1982 book adventures inthe screen trade William Goldman
called an advanced screening ofthis movie that advanced

(50:58):
screening, the most violentsneak reaction of recent years,
the audience actually got up andtried to physically abuse the
studio personnel.
Wow, that's amazing. And thenfinally, in the book, Schrader
on trader which Paul freighterwrote, and he was the writer of

(51:18):
this movie, he complains, thestudio studio completely twisted
his original version of thestory. He wrote it as a critique
of US involvement in the VietnamWar, and fascistic and racist
attitudes in America. Rain wasoriginally written as a white
trash racist, with manysimilarities to Schrader's, more
famous character Travis Bickletaxi driver. In this version,

(51:41):
rain becomes a war hero withoutever having fired a gun and
comes home to confront the TexasMexican community. reigns racist
upbringing and hatred that grewin him in Vietnam slowly come
out. This version ends withrains indiscriminate slaughter
of Mexicans, which was meant asa metaphor for Vietnam. Schrader
concludes with the claim that hebasically wrote a film about

(52:02):
fascism, and the studio made afascist film. Oh, changing
direction there. That soundslike something a writer would
say. Yeah.
I gotta say this it's reallypowerful movie and it's also
just a really, really goodmovie. When you first started
talking about well, what do Iknow? He's got a hook thing on

(52:22):
his hand. What Oh, that's right.
I positive I've seen this but ifI have it's been a very long
time. Was the report definitelynot seen it? Definitely not
heard of it. But I did studyVietnam in college, so I'm
ready. Okay. No, you can bringme a new perspective.

(52:43):
Um, so I, I, it didn't take melong to figure out what film I
was gonna do. I had to go with afilm that has invented an entire
art form around guns. And thatmovie is equilibrium.
is the final line of defense. Ifthe resistance compromises it,

(53:06):
we are doingcan do this. You can not do

(53:30):
this. There's nothing we can'tdo.
It's real. burnincleric. I can only hope one day
to be as uncompromising as you.

(53:53):
Your family man? Yes sir a boyand a girl
it's the lawful entry we have awarrant for your wife's arrest.
Remember me?

(54:14):
Welcome to the underground. Doyou know why you came?
They trained you your whole lifeto fight these kind of odds.
What can I do?
I've heard the most disturbingrumor, rumor. Rumor maintaining
that one knows the cleric isactually attempting to contact
resistance.

(54:35):
Then you know what I'm going todo now.
precedent give yourself entirelywithout without incident.

(55:17):
And that art form is good.
And this came out in 2002. Haveyou guys seen that? Oh, yeah,
yeah, literally underrated film.
It's, yeah, um, it's reallyinteresting. So the part of
that's probably because thebudget for it was 20 million and
the box office was 5.3 million.

(55:38):
Yes. But it's weird how thathappened. The film started off
having a phenomenalinternational release. And so
they decided to pull back on allthe marketing for it because
they felt like they didn't wantto, like, put in a bunch of
money that was unnecessary. Andthen they ended up releasing it

(55:59):
in like less than 300 screeninglike screens the loss or
something. It was really low, low, low release. So I'm
guessing if they made any moneyin the end, it was off of
rentals. Right? Yeah, very, verystrange marketing technique in
there.
came out in 2002. RottenTomatoes. Got it at 41% for

(56:20):
critics, not very high 81% foraudiences, so audiences love it.
The writer director of this filmis Curt vimar. He's actually
mostly a writer, in as far asdirecting stuff is gone. He has
a strange track record. He'sdone the 2020 version of

(56:44):
Children of the Corn. He didultraviolet equilibrium. And
one. So bastard. I think Imisspelled that. But he wrote
sphere, ultraviolet, recruitsalts, 2012, Total Recall 2015
Point Break, children of corn2020 and the upcoming salt TV

(57:05):
series. When you mentioned allthose. I feel like this was kind
of an accident because thismovie is good. And those movies
are shit. Yes, I think that ithad a very strong idea. And
maybe this was something I mean, this is an early piece for him
because a lot of his stuff isvery recent. So I'm just
wondering if he had all hisideas in one basket and just

(57:27):
kind of lucked out. I'm starringin this movie, Christian Bale.
You may have seen him in Henrythe fifth as Robin, the luggage
boy.
In Midsummer Night's Dream asDemetrius and perhaps one of his
bigger roles Exodus Gods andKings as Moses. Are you telling

(57:48):
me that he also played acharacter named Robin
through Robin Feld, the same.
He also happened to be inNolan's Batman series. He was
Patrick Bateman in AmericanPsycho and he's going to be gore
the god butcher in Thor love andthunder. So look forward to

(58:08):
seeing him then. Resting TayeDiggs in this as not sure if
he's good or evil for a verylong time character, Brandt. He
has been in 64 different partsincluding it being in Chicago
rent go House on Haunted Hill, and 38 episodes of all American

(58:30):
23 episodes of empire and twoepisodes West Wing. Also 10
episodes of Ally McBeallike I don't know what the tape
digs run was in there, but cool, cool beans. Speaking of beans,
Sean Bean is in this movie. Hey.
Not for a super long time butman. Good to die in this. So

(58:52):
shot me has died in 23 differentfilms. This one included.
not what I was expecting.
You might have seen him die inGame of Thrones, patriot games
GoldenEye Lord of the Rings,Henry the Eighth or the island.
Man Yeah, I have a full listsomewhere but it's not worth

(59:14):
going through all of them.
I do encourage you to look atEmily Watson is in this movie,
who I just kept looking at hergoing to look so familiar. And
everything I thought she was inshe was not in so 62 things
including breaking the waves isher big one. She was in Gosford
Park Red Dragon and punch drunklove. Most recently, the thing I

(59:36):
think I did recognize her fromwas Lada and Chernobyl.
William Fisher's in this as arevolutionary character named
Jurgen. He's been an 89 thingsincluding including Armageddon
crash he drive angry and oneepisode of Baywatch. And Shawn
patru is in this as theomnipotence overlord father

(01:00:00):
He's been in 116 thingsincluding dog soldiers event
horizon and Alfred and Gotham.
So this movie is, um, it is justlike sci fi in a bag. It's just
a bug with guns.
The plot is after, after worldwar three, it was decided that

(01:00:22):
humans could not continue toexist in such chaos, and thus
emotions were outlawed. Libya isestablished as a euphoria free
from war, in its sort oftotalitarian state run by the
great father, who regularlycommunicates to the people on
giant video screens. It's got avery 1984 feel very 1984. All

(01:00:46):
forms of feeling are illegal.
And the state controls everybodythrough regular injections of a
suppressant called poziom.
Those that violate the law andallow themselves to feel are
considered to be sense offendersand are put to death. JOHN
Preston, aka Christian Bale, howlong ago would Kevin Smith have

(01:01:10):
been killed?
He does have a problem is Iwouldn't be able to feel joy
about it.
Not not Um, well do you want tolive in?
JOHN Preston is a leader in thelaw enforcement group. He's
what's called a Grand Tetoncleric. He's trained in the art

(01:01:32):
of gun kata. clarets clericsfrequently Search and Destroy
illegal material that evokesemotions such as art, literature
and music. We open on a scenewith him taking down a bunch of
baddies like thugs and thievesand just dudes dressed in all
black and just know if youplayed any video game. They're
definitely evil and you killthem.

(01:01:54):
And you watch them all you know, you're like, Oh, yeah, get him
get him. And then all of asudden, they're all dead and
he's pulling up the floorboardsand underneath is the Mona Lisa.
And he sets it on fire. Oh,hormonal II sound. So yeah, I
was like, Oh, wait, you're bad.
Like it's been a while since Isee that. Preston's own wife was
actually put to death for sonsoffending previously leaving him

(01:02:18):
alone to raise two children as awidower. He was tested early on
in the movie to see if he had aresponse to this. And he says he
feels nothing about it. And thatseems to be true.
In the meantime, in this world, this perfect utopia. There are
some baddies fighting back witha movement simply called the

(01:02:40):
Underground's, after one largeart raid, Preston's partner,
Errol Partridge, aka Sean Bean, saves a book of poems by eights
and puts in his pocket, hetells, he tells Preston that he
is going to take it and turn itin himself because he can't
trust the cleanup crew to do itproperly. And of course, he does

(01:03:03):
not. Preston looks into it anddiscovers that he's been going
off into these sort of ruinouscity outside the borders, and
the night during the night andhe finds them in a church
they're reading, reading poetry.
He Errol no longer wishes tolive in this world and forces
Preston to gun him down whilereading poetry aloud to him.

(01:03:26):
It's very dramatic, but very,it's pretty, it's it's pretty
cool. As a very, it's just thewhole don't try out, tread
lightly for you try to pull mydreams things very, very sweet.
And it's very sad because johnPayne I wanted him to be around
longer. Shortly after Prestonaccidently breaks his daily vial
of Prozac and is unable toreplace it before the next raid.

(01:03:50):
He finds himself starting tofeel and
he just does not manage to gethis poziom like he was trying
and then be like, Oh crap, andnow they're gonna know that I
didn't take it if I try to takeit now and try to cover it up
because he's like the top likepolicing official. But at the
same time, he starts to seethings like colors and he feels

(01:04:13):
textures and he can hear thingsthat he hasn't really been
hearing before. He feels thetemperature details, all this
kind of stuff. And he starts tojust sort of hide his vitals
away. And his emotions grow andgrow. throughout the film. He
starts to embrace music and artsand even falls in love with one
sense of Fender aka merio Brian, and he starts to question his

god who could have seen thishappening who could have known
it is science fiction dystopianfilm that a bad guy would start
to wonder about his own life andplace and I didn't. His new
partner has replaced Shawn beenbeing Taye Diggs. Okay.

(01:05:00):
Brandt is suspicious but pleaseadd very cool tactics is also a
very confusing character by theway in this movie because he's
emotional as fuck the whole waythrough. He's constantly giving
me like sly smiles and looks andlike laughs And I'm like, you
are totally a sense offender Whyhas no one arrested this dude,

(01:05:20):
bro? Like, hey man, you can'teven hold back your mo anyway.
Have a beautiful black man, heyou know he's a beautiful black
man is easy. Yeah, he's agorgeous human being. So it's
okay to watch him watch Preston.
He's constantly watching him andhe's kind of watching him in the
same way. Of course definitelynot ironically that Preston was

(01:05:43):
watching Errol. In fairness,Preston is making it pretty
obvious that he is starting tofeel because he does things like
insist on saving Mary and notjust killing her on the spot and
saying she has valuableinformation we need to take her
in for questioning. Wedefinitely can't kill her right
now. And right here. He's he'sstealing item from the rates
including a puppy. He juststraight up grabs a puppy news

(01:06:07):
like I need to, um, we need totest it because it might have
disease by dog like that.
And he literally at one pointstarts breaking down in the
middle of the street crying. I'mlike, you know, you could do a
better job. Like they show likehow like one person will just

(01:06:30):
have like a teeny tiny littleflicker in their face and they
get called off the street andmurdered. And yeah, he's like,
just, it's fine. You're makingthe sound crappy.
No, it's good. I love sciencefiction. I love dystopian
movies. And this has so muchstyle. It's fucking unreal. It's
just there a couple of logicmoments where you're like, come

(01:06:51):
on, y'all just try a littleharder. The little subtleties
just fine for audiences. Ofcourse brand sees all these
things ground pressing, he turnsthem in over to father but
Preston has plans and he triesto turn in brand and he says no
I'm not the offender brands theoffender and then father's like

(01:07:12):
oh, okay, I will arrest brand.
But then brand is like Haha, itwas a secret undercover job. So
you're arrested. It's a lot oftwists in a very short period of
time. So the big question beingwill press and be able to stop
Brandt save Marry, Kill fatherput the resistance in place and
free lib Ria Will he be able tooutwit his creepy creepy son?

(01:07:36):
His team of Raiders?
as creepy as hell? Yeah, there'ssome good sun and stuff in
there.
He also keeps murdering his ownraid teams and I'm like, What is
this gonna end up like comingback here? Cuz That happens a
lot. Um, and pull off theultimate gun kind of Final

(01:07:59):
Fight. Who's to say how thismovie ends? I don't know. Could
be anything could have agunfight maybe even more than
one hard to say. Do they? Dothey address that? Taye Diggs
has been emoting at all I meanyeah, she just acting he's that
good of anactor. Oh my god. They do say at

(01:08:19):
one point that the guy who isthat like head spokesperson for
father he is a sense of fenderand but he's like I'm doing this
because I'm trying to understandand see through like the
bullshit around me Sure, butthey never take to exist just
suppose we're all supposed tobelieve that. He's definitely on

(01:08:40):
the like poziom he's definitelynot feeling shit. He's
definitely not like gleefully.
Haha, I've got you like all thetime. So he's just he's just a
twist. He's just the heat. Yougot to buy it. You just have to
all the toys. You just have toassume that he's no, there's no
twist. He's just definitely notfeeling anything. Right. Yeah,

(01:09:02):
yeah. Um, however, I will saythere is a fight with Taye
Diggs, that is, like maybe builtup to through the whole movie.
And maybe it lasts about twoseconds.
This is because a fun trivianote. Taye Diggs actually got
another job and had to peace outpretty quickly. And so did not

(01:09:24):
have time to spend much time ifmaybe at any time at all. In
this way. It might actually justbe a stunt double followed by a
quick death. Wow. Yeah. So it'sa weirdly abrupt kind of ending
in that way. But there is a lotgoing on in the end. So I
wouldn't say that the end isspoiled by that at all. It's
just like the whole gun katathing seems to sort of that

(01:09:46):
isn't the big moment for itfeels like.
So this movie was shot in Berlindue to the unique mixture of
fascist and modern architecture, and the idea cityscapes and
design.
of liberty a came from the worksof Hugh Ferris, an early 20th
century conceptual artist, thewriter and director curve and

(01:10:08):
themer invented the martial artsstyle of gun fighting for this
movie in his own backyard. Wayto go, Kurt, I'm just like
imagining like the ultimate milllady in his backyard with his
gun be like, I'm so cool toDora. Yes, yeah. Exactly. Dora
nailed it. Yeah, I mean, okay, the film like I like a lot about

(01:10:30):
the film, but it does have thatkind of feel to it. The kendo
type swords that are used in thesparring scene early on, where
you do get a really good kind ofsparring gun kata scene with
bale antics. They were actuallythey used wood for these swords,
because they were which I'msorry, which were easily broken

(01:10:53):
because Balan digs were reallywhacking each other with, they
just kept breaking them over andover again, which is very good.
The cool thing about this, nowires were actually used in this
film. There's a ton of stuntwork in this, it was done
through conventional means, suchas a backflip off of a
motorcycle was done using atrampoline. So it just it looks
fucking cool. It looks matrixstyle level fighting, so they

(01:11:17):
did a great job. The film'sfight choreographer, Jim rammos,
Vickers and Kurt vimar had someslight disagreements on how the
martial art guiding kata shouldbe performed on screen, you can
see a little little friendlyjobs that the choreographer in
the film when Kurt vimarperforms the gun kata at the
beginning, you see it's veryfluid and smooth. The way it's

(01:11:37):
actually used in the film isvery rigid with few flowing
movements thrown in. There'salso there's just a lot of
little things little digs.
Interestingly, and this isn'tsomething I noticed, but I do
appreciate it. The violence inthis film grows. As the film
progresses, it starts off atalmost a sort of PG level
violence where you don't reallysee the deaths you just you see

(01:11:57):
a lot of people die, but youdon't see any blood or anything.
By the end. It's like frickinsoaked in blood. You're like
trudging through puddles ofblood. And the idea is that it's
reflecting the emotionalsensitivity and growth of the
character. Just pretty cool. Thepuppy used in the film was a
bernese Mountain dog the noisesif Oh, he's cute as hell. The

(01:12:19):
noises that makes which areinclude the barks whines and
yelps were not made by the dog,but by an actor who specialized
in mimicking animalruff ruff. I do live like you
might have noticed this onMandalorian. Like all the sounds
are made by like an adult manwho's making like the baby

(01:12:39):
noises. I was like, Why don'ty'all just get a baby? I
understand. I liked least whenit actually sounded like a baby.
Really? Yeah. But I know. Youdon't think he's 50 years old.
He's like, I think he's like 80or something. Yeah. So yeah,
they they did some budget cutsin this. They had two fire

(01:13:01):
trucks in the film, which theybasically just kind of repainted
with new numbers on it to makeit look like a lot more. And to
Higgs drives a car several timesin the film. He actually had
never driven a car before. Andso they had to basically pretend
he was driving it isn't he inthe Fast and Furious movies. He
does not know how to drive whilewe did some practice and you

(01:13:24):
might have maybe he learnedYeah, maybe he learned since
2000. To two actresses had toplay Preston's wife. The the
condemnation of the wife archivefootage was filmed first and
featured Alexis summer. When itcame to film the rest of the
film she was arrested and couldnot be found. So Maria Pia Cal

(01:13:45):
zone had to take her place.
Summer is credited as VivianaPreston and Maria as Preston's
wife in the credits.
Interesting. Thought police gotthere in there so soon. Daniel
Radcliffe audition for the part.
Preston john Preston son. I'mjust trying. There's so much
trivia on this film. It's kindof unreal. So let me Well, you

(01:14:08):
wrap this up here. Preston kills118 characters in the movie and
until 2009 help third placerecord for most deaths in a
movie caused by one character, which is pretty good. And like I
said earlier, they cut the fightbetween press and branch short
becauseit was supposed to be a lot
longer but Taye Diggs schedulewas too tight. rumor was that he
wasn't there for the fight atall. Visual Effects budget ran

(01:14:30):
out during post and they wereforced to keep some practical
effects especially when peopleshot were shot and murdered. So
instead of blood, a lot of it'sjust like large clouds of dust.
Just pretty, pretty awesome. Um,and yeah, in 2017 they made a
comic book series about it threeissue comics series set in that
world.

(01:14:54):
And of course, Christian Bale,Dominic Purcell, William
Faulkner and Sean pursue alllater.
played in DC comic based moviesand television shows. Both bill
and FECKNER played in The DarkKnight Trilogy, with bale
playing the lead role BruceWayne Batman and the trilogy
sorry spoiler alerts, andFECKNER played a bank manager in

(01:15:15):
The Dark Knight.
Purcell played heat wave and DClegends of tomorrow and pursue
arch Pertwee played Alfredpennyworth in Gotham. I think
they're flashing the flashlightat you. So five minutes. All you
got left. I'mdone and done. Well, I'm sorry.
Okay. Um, hold on.

(01:15:38):
No, No, I haven't. Actually.
Yeah. So I overall, like thefilm a lot. Just had a couple of
logic things here and there. Iremember liking this one quite a
bit. But it has been a long timesince I've seen it. So I know.
You said 2000 to 2002. Yeah, Iknow. I didn't see it in the
theater. And I thought I sawlike 2008 or something. And it
was only because somebodyfinally said you haven't seen

(01:16:00):
equilibrium. That's exactly howI saw it. Somebody was like, you
haven't seen equilibrium. And Iwas like, that might have been
me. I remember watching itrandomly for me because Kevin
because of bail, like cuz Iliked him as an actor. Here's
some reason. This is good.
Probably was you?
Well, all right, so I picked asubtle action movie with not a

(01:16:30):
lot of action, but a lot ofstory.
The 1992 Hard Boiledon dark streets with violence

(01:16:51):
consumes everything it touches, and the innocent live in fear.
To man dedicated to justice willfollow different paths. As one
searches for revenge, and theother for redemption. fate will
bring them together.

(01:17:13):
For those who hide behind theshadow of corruption, one thing
is certainly a day of reckoningis coming.

(01:17:40):
From the director of the killerand Mission Impossible to

(01:18:11):
Chow Yun Fat. And Tony learn inone of the greatest action
movies ever made.

(01:18:32):
Hard Boiled, yeah. This is agiant action movie.
Rotten Tomatoes, Lissa. 94critics 92 audience nice. budget
was premiere where you lookeither 4 million or 4.5 million,
which seems really low for thisfilm. Yeah.

(01:18:53):
It's currently pretty much onlyavailable on YouTube.
Unfortunately, I own the 98criterion edition of that and
killer because I work in atsuncoast. And I knew had been
out of print and came out byhim. So yeah, it's hard to see.
That's so crazy is such a goodfilm.

(01:19:13):
God, directed by john Woo. Whohas done a few films you might
have heard of. But the killerhard target face off. A better
tomorrow one and two.
Some of those are really good.
Written by john woo he did thestory. The guy named Barry Wong

(01:19:34):
did this the screenplay but hewas also a screenplay writer for
The killer. Apparently Charlieon fat now goes by human fat
Chow.
So that's how he's listed asIMDb. Now. I think that's how
Chinese names are. That's howhis name actually was and that
it said his birth name wasCharlie on fat.

(01:19:54):
So I don't weird, it could be acultural thing too is like this
is your birth name, but this isactually how you say
Your name or something? He wasin few little mu s film two
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
The Fairly I think, kind ofunderrated replacement killers,
which isn't great, but is betterthan some of the john Woo.

(01:20:16):
For us, john Williams, and thekiller, and he's got a new face
saga. He's still working. He'sgot a film coming out in 2022.
And was he in Milan at all?
I don't know. I've got a fairlylong list of credits. He's
also has a Tony Chai wildlingbullying. Who has 99 credits,

(01:20:40):
three and posts and is in acouple movies Red Cliff one and
two and 2046 which if youhaven't seen sounds like it
might be up your alley.
Red Cliff is amazing, though. Ididn't know that. I've heard
that. There's really good.
Teresa Mo, who'sin a found another one of those
titles. I love saying I loveyou. You're perfect now change.

(01:21:05):
That's a brilliant title andmen, men suddenly and black one
and two.
But she also has a ton ofcredits and Philip Philip Chung
Fung Kwok, who is veryrecognizable. he popped on
screen gone. Who the hell isthis guy he's been in Tomorrow
Never Dies brotherhood of thewolf. But his main claim to fame

(01:21:28):
was lots of Shaolin movies inthe 70s. And when you see a shot
of him with his long hair, yourif you've seen any shell in
movies, you Oh yeah, I rememberhim. And rikkyo the story of
Ricky? Oh, oh, yeah.
Chose characters named tequila.
So if you see here, we mentionedtequila at any point. That's
what I'm talking about drinkevery time he mentions.

(01:21:51):
You'll be disappointed.
Just randomly. So it has been along time since I watch this.
But as soon as it starts up withhim pouring the drink, putting
the napkin over the drink andslamming it against the the bar,
I'm gone. I watched this a lot.
When I first came out. I didn'tI said, God, I remember this
really well.

(01:22:13):
There's a scene after that thatopening shot is really cool,
according to I think is johnWoo. He did this drink. It's
tequila and soda water, or justslam on the bar to make it fizz
real strong and then drink itdown. Interesting. Okay, he just
thought that look really cool.
stuff, which is how john woomakes movies. There's a scene

(01:22:34):
after after the tea houseshooting implementing soon, but
it's in the same bar, which is,in fact Chow and john Woo. Chow
wanted a moment to show hisfriendship with john woo in this
movie. So they scripted and shotit in an hour as an extra scene
to be in the movie.

(01:22:57):
And of course, it's john Woo.
There's no dubs. There are noslow motion shots at doves that
I kept waiting for him. However, there is the opening action
scene. For some reason a bunchof guys bring in birds in cages
into this like restaurant. Imean, there's a reason Chow has
his butt there is white but birdcages. You find out why for him
at least when he kicks open TheBirdcage and three guns come

(01:23:20):
falling out of the bottom of it.
I'm sorry. Yes. So this is thefirst action scene and it's it
just starts off awesome. It'sthe first real big guns fight
and your gun Yep, this is johnwill if you've seen john Will
you understand they he does themagical guns that only need to
be really reloaded if it looksreally cool or if you needs a

(01:23:43):
pause in the action to you knowsomebody doesn't get shot or
something. Other than that hisface guns never stop having
bullets. It's impressive. Partof what I think hit him why he
hits so huge interviewerremotely have felt movie fan in
the early 90s you were there forthe john Wu invasion of killer
and hard boiled. And some of itI think was just the way he

(01:24:06):
shoots Well, it's all about howhe shoots action. His mix of
slow motion and regular speed isjust astounding. With incredibly
wild stunts.
Chow sliding down the staircaseshooting two guns at the upon it
was an improvisational momentthat he came up with on the set
oh my god the the idea of usingthat flower in this end of that

(01:24:28):
scene where he shoots the guy inthe blood that was also child
like hey, we haven't flirtedwith pull it on my face and look
really cool. Okay. After thatit's a series of segments
attempting to try to be a movieof the two between the killer
and heart. This is definitelythe weaker story. It's less
emotional story less invested.
Some of that is a lot of stuffwas cut. Because it is a two
hour plus movie as it is now andapparently a lot of the love

(01:24:51):
moments and slow scenes likethat were cut out.
But what you got to doSo you go back and forth you do
a little bit of that. It'sluckily Not quite. Hong Kong
humor sometimes can be veryweird. Like this one had less
than I thought it must be scenesin a killer I was thinking about
where it's just almost slapstickMarx Brothers kind of stuff. I

(01:25:15):
do remember. Because you turnedme on to this film. And I do
remember watching it andthinking, the Japanese have a
different sense of humor. Oh,I'm sorry. Yeah.
Have a different sense of humorthan we do the the scene where
he's holding the baby and he'slike this scene.

(01:25:37):
Ever everything.
And I guess it's supposed to befunny, but it's just like, wow,
how interesting. Yeah, that'salright. Story wise, there's
nothing original movie. Thegood guys are white hat except
for you know, tequilas, got to have his
arguments with his boss and thepolice commissioner and stuff.

(01:26:00):
The young villains are trying totake over for the old bad guy
and all that stuff wanderingaround with their giant brick
cell phones.
With their first of a couplekept Captain yelling at his cop
moments in this one.
So then we move on to the nextscene for the reason of this

(01:26:21):
movie. The criminal doublecrossing which is filled with
guns motorcycles, explosions andpeople fly in frigging
everywhere. The, I'd say theshortest violent scene until
tequila shows up alone to dealwith the problem. So we're
looking at in this scene, you'vegot the lead villain and all his

(01:26:43):
guys, you've got the AppStoreand son and all of his guys and
one cop.
Guess who comes up?
smoke bombs, hand grenades, shotguns, machine guns,
exploding motion, motorcycles, slow motion, and of course
reloading only when it helps thestory. And of course it comes
down in the end to the cop thebadass of the bad guys and the

(01:27:04):
lead bad guy or is he?
Because they go face to face inthat classic standoff thing
you've seen in so many movieswith guns to their necks, and he
doesn't shoot tequila. He getsupset and you get your next
yelling at the captain back andforth. Why aren't you telling me
that everything's going on? Youknow, if you think I'm flying
over the storyline, it'spotential. This is not a movie

(01:27:26):
to watch for the deepstorytelling. However, I will
say I had forgotten howunbelievably charismatic
Chow is on on screen. Holy shit.
That man just fills the screen.
See, oh, there's a little sceneon the vote boat where he finds
out what's really going on withthe sun. And some people come to
take out the sun. You canimagine how well it goes for

(01:27:48):
them. And so a short littleaction scene. The also the
previous one with all the badguys is more than 20 minutes of
Mad wrong scenes with a really atwo minute a drama scene in the
middle of it. Sounds veryfamiliar. And then it's time for
the hospital scene. Yes. Well,Chad john woo wanted a different

(01:28:08):
location for guns, you know, because they always have these
guys are gun runners and theyalways keep them in some random
warehouse. It's like you knowwhere you should keep it in a
hospital. So there's this weirdbasement that you get in by
going through thethe big steel doors they put
corpses in.
Behind that doors this giantroom filled with hundreds of

(01:28:32):
guns Thus begins. At this pointit's about 40 minutes left movie
with the exception of a fewbreaks to drill some tension
like when they discover the roomfull of babies and all that.
It's it's all gunfight from hereto the end of the movie. And it
is crazy. It's over the top it'sridiculous if you're a logic

(01:28:53):
person that needs everything tomake sense in your movies, john
woo is not going to be yourfirst choice. But if you like
cool African stuff, randompeople getting blown up it's
awesome.
And the famous scene of the babywith him carries the baby to
safety and baby puts out thefire on his legs.

(01:29:16):
Interesting connection betweenthis one and equilibrium the
body count for hard target is307 number seven on the list.
Body counts for movies.
According to movie body countcalm
equilibrium has 236 and it'snumber 14 on the list ah so you

(01:29:36):
just said hard target but you'retalking about hard boiled Hard
Boiled okay because hard targetis also a Wilma there it is yes
yeah, hard boiled. Meat move allthe movies preceding Hard Boiled
art Lord of the Rings Return ofthe King Kingdom of Heaven 300
Troy last side of my Samuraiassignment, and two towers and
the Grindhouse double featureboth films. So it's the old

(01:30:00):
movies with more killings andthat are pretty much war movies.
Oh my God. That is how manypeople are taken out in this
film. Yeah.
There they use more than 200guns in the film. And Hong Kong
is very strict gun laws so theyshipped them in from England.
And they had to be expected bythe Hong Kong Police before they
could be used. They also had toship blanks, of which they use

(01:30:24):
over 100,000 rounds of blankammunition. Oh my gosh.
That's a fun job of picking upall that stuff.
Ciao, yarn are better. How arewe gonna say his name Chow Yun
Fat looks like he might be theKeanu Reeves of Hong Kong. He is
known for shopping a discountstores and things because he's

(01:30:45):
like, if it's comfortable forme, I'm going to wear Nope, I
don't give a crap on peoplethink about my clothes, spends
free time hiking and jogging andis often seen client taking
pictures with people and signingautographs. He is readily
recognizable. There's a periodin the mid early to mid 90s,
where he was one of the numberone actors in Hong Kong and most

(01:31:10):
Asian world. He's hugelypopular. He's currently in the
process of donating his entire$715 million fortune, and I
guess he's keeping himself busy.
Barry Wong the writer diedbefore Hard Boiled was finished.
So it sent it into crazyrewrites, they added in a couple
characters and removed theoriginal plotline of a baby

(01:31:35):
poisoning psychopath a couple ofreasons. One, the producer went
to the US and received verynegative response.
It was john Lou's attempt tocreate a Clint Eastwood Steve
McQueen kind of character inHong Kong really wasn't
successful. As far as that goes,I didn't do a lot of feature
films of that character.

(01:31:56):
Let's see got pretty goodreviews. And when it was
released, but was not assuccessful as a better tomorrow
or the killer. Both had betterbox office, they took 123 days
to shoot, the hospital scenetook 40 days to shoot. I'm not
surprisedduring the shooting of the
hospital scene at real glass wasaccidentally used for a gunfight

(01:32:17):
between two of the peoplesending Tony to the hospital.
And depending on where you readeither went for a day or a week.
Soafter long hours shooting in the
hospital because they theyblocked out all the windows and
started making like a giantcasino so you couldn't see what
was going on. So the crew wouldget very disoriented time got
very tired. And they got nearthe end. And john was like,

(01:32:40):
Okay, I'm going to do somethingto help you guys. We'll get
through these last segmentsreally fast by shooting the
last, not the last five minutesof the film. But the last five
minutes scenes they had to shootby crunching it down. And what
they did was the two leads getinto an elevator. The elevator
closes. And 20 seconds later, itopens up on a new scene, which

(01:33:02):
the crew had just reset whilethe elevator was shut. And
they're talking. So it was donein one take. Oh my god. And they
did it in one take. And I'd readthat before I was watching it.
So watch for that scene and likewow, it's it's impressive.

(01:33:23):
Let's see where else Oh, andduring the field the film's when
he's running down to the endwith the baby and the
everything's exploding behindthem. They shut that one twice
because the first time john whodid not like how far back behind
ciao. The explosions were Oh no.
So he made them a lot closer.
And again, I'd read this beforeI was watching the scene and one

(01:33:46):
Holy crap, man. I mean, he isclose. Like I always figured it
was it must have been a depththing, but apparently it was
much closer than then wasoriginally intended. hardboiled
premiered in 92 at the TorontoInternational Film Festival to a
very routed responsive stoppingfeed and yelling at the screen.
Completely surprising theproducer thought it would be

(01:34:08):
well we lucky if we do well inAmerica. So unfortunately, like
I mentioned earlier this asphenomenal as this film is as
popular as the director and thelead actor are it's virtually
been unreleased. There was aLaserDisc released in 95. The
Criterion Collection releasedhardboiled and the killer and 98

(01:34:29):
are subsequently have gone outof
print. A DVD was released in ofthe two in 2000 Miramax bought
the rights to hardball thekiller and bullets ahead
intending to release a cutversion. and john woo said no.
Wow. Most of the size of themost recent one was by a company

(01:34:51):
called dragon dynasty which cameout in 2007. But there's no
remaster blu ray, there's no 4kthere's nothing that which and
you This needs to be remasteredwatching the DVD. It looks fine.
I'm surprised it's not availablefor at least streaming through
the criterion channel. Yeah, that's a they may have do that
occasionally, but they rotatefor. I don't know if they sell

(01:35:12):
the rights to it though. Yeah.
Wow. Remember we were alsotalking about.
Weinstein used to be notoriousfor buying people's films and
then editing them when theyreleased themselves, so it's
nice that we'll have the powerto say fuck you. No, no, no. And
in 2007 another similarity toyour phone. There is a sequel

(01:35:38):
release, but it was released onvideo game. It wasn't a movie,
but it did have the two leadsreprising their roles. Are they
kidding? Oh my god. It's calleda stranglehold. I don't know
where it's out if it's stillavailable might be worth
checking out. Yeah, like whatsystem would even be on? Yeah,
cuz you sayit's hard to say why john woo

(01:35:58):
didn't quite work in the US. Imean, his his mission impossible
V is probably the weakest in theseries. Yeah, absolutely and
hard target. Althoughentertaining and better for john
Claude Van Damme is still a johnClaude Van Damme film. I think
that all the savvy actiondirectors were stealing so much
from him before he came overhere that by the time he got

(01:36:19):
over here, his stuff wasn't asinnovative as it was. Yeah,
right. Very true. I we face offis probably his most
entertaining. Yeah, film, andit's got problems. But he has
continued to make movies. Hejust doesn't do a lot of us
films. end with a quote fromjohn woo about filmmaking. logic
is very boring. When I'mshooting, I do what I feel I'm

(01:36:41):
free and open. And he's alsonotoriously known for not using
storyboards. Whoa, holy shit.
He adds he has no love for filmtheory or proper film language
and simply uses what he wants.
Oh my god, how does he make it?

(01:37:02):
Like so we're together? That'scrazy. Like when we saw was a
Goldman when he was talking inLA at that script thing. Goldman
where he talked about he didn'tbelieve in story structure. Like
that's because you completelynaturally right? Yeah, story
structure. You just do it. Andjohn was just one of those

(01:37:22):
visualize it in his head andknow exactly what he needs and
therefore doesn't have to.
Because there's no way thatyou're just like, No, no, I'm
gonna roll work. see what weget. I wonder if he got away
with that to us films. I want tobecause Hong Kong get away with
a lot struck people that arefreaking insane. Yeah, really
good. But they're nuts. Andprobably get away with a lot

(01:37:42):
more like the elephant in theUS. Just your your stunt
director will be like, I needstoryboards. What have you got
planned for this? Yeah. Explainto me how this is gonna happen
without anyone getting hurt.
Well, that scene of him slidingdown the banister, shooting,
that would never be somethingthat an American crew would be

(01:38:05):
okay, just shooting on the fly.
Yeah, I got an idea. Let's doit. Right. Know.
If you've only seen john RoosAmerican movies, go find the
killer and hard target for I'mguessing the killers probably on
YouTube as well.
I like hard boiled more saidhard targeting endemic hard
boil, but I do recognize thatthe killer is a stronger story.

(01:38:30):
But Hard Boiled is just sovisually cool. It's just kind of
really fun. I actually need towatch the killer, but it's just
such a fun film. And I feel likethere was this like thing going
on in the 90s or was like goodera for the baby in a movie, the
baby with like, a gentleman whoperhaps would not normally be

(01:38:52):
around a baby. Like everybodywas running with this concept.
And it just it's soenlightening. And it's like, oh,
yeah, or light Harding. LingLing. I don't know. Anyways, it
makes everything light and itmakes it feel fun and silly. And
you respect the guy because hecares about a baby pet the dog?
Yep. Got a pet that damn dog andmaking me want to pull out my

(01:39:14):
hard boiled poster and rephrase.
Get it up on the wall. Nice.
Well, cool. So then I believethere it is. Your turn. Yes.
Yes, it is.
Part of your card from there.
It's like I know, I know. I haveOh, yeah. That's what my idea
was the probably more likely togo back to LA more to the horror
here. But the idea is, you haveto survive the night. Sort of

(01:39:38):
like theVincent Price movie, where they
he brings everybody in andsurvive the night to win the
contest or whatever. And anynumber of those movies where
somebody gets lost along adesert road and has to hang out
with Frank converter, anythinglike that.

(01:40:00):
As always, we could make it amusical.
Okay, I like that.
I want to throw out one bighowdy to Michael bronzo, who was
just a guy I know who's listenedto the show and comments on it
every once in a while. So Ireally appreciate that. And
appreciate everybody who'scommenting and liking and saying

(01:40:23):
all sorts nice things sharingeverything. Spread. Thank you
for checking us out and stayingwith us if you have already
found us.
It's a nice way to put it. Yeah.
I'm sure a lot of people listento one episode and for me
that chick was so big.

(01:40:43):
She stillhappened since 2000. It wasn't
even to me. I was nice andquiet. I was a girl that in take
that in the way it was intended.
I don't know what that I don'tmean it pejoratively. I mean it,
you know, like, I don't mean itin a bad way. I mean, you're

(01:41:04):
bitchy.
Yeah.
So, Jesus. All right. So that'sthe show we're talking about.
We'll see if I can survive thenight after that.
