katie-_3_08-22-2024_1211 (00:00):
Hello,
welcome back to another episode
of my podcast, Strength inNumbers, Unbreakable Mind,
Unstoppable Strength.
Today I've got pretty, somethingpretty exciting to talk about
today.
Some, pretty exciting thingshappening with me.
So I'm hoping talking all aboutthis, about some dreams, some
goal, some ideas that I've beenworking on.
(00:22):
We'll inspire others.
So let's get started.
katie-_3_08-22-2024_121159 (00:25):
I
think if inspiring others and
sharing goals and that wholething of showing what's
possible, that's like wherewe're going today.
So I've really been strugglingwith that whole question is.
If I'm doing enough am I doingenough to inspire others?
(00:48):
Am I doing enough to changepeople's mindsets about
exercise, about training, aboutbuilding muscle, about women,
about being later in life?
I'm not old, okay?
I'm not old.
But I've definitely started mystrength training very later on
(01:09):
in life, very later on in life.
So I know and understand, especially with women with
premenopausal symptoms, with ourmonthlies and strength training,
like I go through it, I'm goingthrough it.
And I just want to be thatperson to be that support system
to be that cheerleader And to belike i'm I was in your shoes.
(01:32):
I'm in your shoes I feel whatyou're going through And I want
to cheer you on and I want tosupport you and I want to be a
big part of Your journey instrength and know that you can
do it because that was like thebiggest thing for me is
realizing that You Getting outof my own way and that anything
(01:53):
is possible.
You just have to keep trying.
Is it going to be perfect tobegin with?
No, it's not going to be perfectto begin with, but you have to
keep, you got to keep showingup.
So this kind of, this is goingto be like a pretty short
podcast.
Because it's just really meabout what I've got going on.
(02:15):
So first and foremost, y'allknow, I love my Instagram.
You guys know I love tonal and Ilove all the coaches the
community so i've really havebeen thinking about How could I
be a bigger part of it or howcould I go about?
(02:37):
Just stepping up a notch Youknow, I feel like Tonal and the
coaches and the community havereally changed my life in such a
great way because I would not bewhere i'm at right now with my
training with mindset andeverything if it wasn't for that
community So I was always raisedthat like the biggest way to
(03:03):
tell people.
Thank you to Just be grateful, just really grateful for people
is to show them in a way ofinspiration, to show them in a
way of throwing, like repeatinghow they made you feel.
Like being a, not a copy, butbeing a a, like a product, it's
(03:26):
like when you make something andthen you make it better and then
that better becomes even better.
So it's, I don't really know ifthat really makes sense of what
I'm trying to say.
I hope you, hopefully you guysget it.
It's more or less that like whensomebody inspires you.
Then you go out and inspiresomebody else and then that
(03:48):
person goes out and inspiressomebody else.
It's like a Repetitive thing.
It's like good vibes so I havejust been thinking about
something that somebody had saidto me in the tonal community and
It stuck in my brain It was likeput in the back of my brain for
(04:09):
a while because I laughed itoff.
I was like, yeah, that won'thappen.
But somebody had said somethingto me about the OTC and I
absolutely love the community, the people, the coaches,
everybody in it.
And this person said to me, youknow what, by the time I come
back, you'll probably be runningthis thing or be a part of it.
(04:32):
And it's I think that would belike such a huge thing for me to
be part of something like that,in the community and stuff and
be that like support person.
So that is that is a goal forme.
I think that I am a, to be abrand ambassador for tonal, I
think would be.
Absolutely incredible.
(04:52):
I, all my results are tonal.
I haven't had any, I don't go toa gym.
Everything I'm able to, thatI've done in my home with tonal,
the coaches, the community.
And myself.
So I'm a prime example of whattonal can do.
(05:14):
Like I always say, thosereceipts, I have so many
receipts from me going fromovertraining, from me going from
under eating, from me going andtotally changing my whole
mindset when it came totraining.
And being open to learning andjust being a sponge because I
(05:39):
can't tell you the amount ofknowledge these coaches have at
Tonal and the inspiration andthe, if it wasn't for them, I
wouldn't be doing this.
And it's totally crazy becauseit's just they are such a, to
me, so much more than, a personon a screen.
(05:59):
They are so much more than aperson just leading a class.
They are all my coaches.
They are all have had their handand feedback and coaching and
inspiration to where I've gottentoday at the decision that I've
made.
Because Joe always says, finding, leaders and those
(06:22):
people that will give you goodinformation.
Everybody is always evolving.
Things are always changing.
We're learning different things, but we learn from each other and
We support each other.
And I think that's like with allthe tunnel coaches, like you can
tell that how much they allsupport each other.
And it's just, it's incredible.
(06:45):
So I have decided that I amgoing to go for my personal
training.
Certification.
So I have it here on my phone.
So I make sure that I don't misssay or get exactly what I am
doing.
(07:05):
So the NASM, I guess how you sayit, N A S M.
I will be going through thepersonal training course and I
will also be going through theperformance enhancement
specialization course.
This is a big deal for me.
(07:26):
Because like how Joe trains andall that explosiveness and, with
power build.
That is absolutely my favoriteway to train.
So we're going to be, I'm goingto be learning a lot about, to
improve, performance withathletes confidence.
(07:48):
I just, I am just so excited todive into this.
I should be, I'm going to bestarting September 1st.
With my studies.
The first thing, like I said, will bill will be my personal
training.
My cpt course is september 1stand then I will go into the
(08:10):
performance enhancement And Iwill also be going into
corrective exercise We can thankcoach kc for this one and also,
you know something that hadalways stuck with me is what
coach Akeem says is you can haveall this muscle, you can build
all this muscle, but if youcan't move It's all for nothing
(08:34):
and I think that was like a hugebuilding block for me When I
started training on tonal isgetting that feedback on form
Getting that help with form andlearning how to do things
properly, not to use your egowhen lifting.
If you can't do the proper formon the with the weight, then
guess what?
You lower it.
(08:54):
You humble yourself.
You take a seat.
Because there's been many timeswhere I've had to take a seat
and I've just I was like, yeah,I can't do it.
So I'm excited about that.
And then the last specializationthat I will be getting is my
golf.
Because I live in a golfcommunity and I'm like, you know
what, that'd be great for me tolearn how to do.
(09:18):
And be able to help people in mycommunity.
And it coexists with performancetraining, a lot of things like
what Joe talks about in class ishow some of these moves relate
to things that we love to do.
Like he talks about like thebaseball swing, sorry, with
rotational lifts.
(09:39):
A lot of it goes into real lifesituations and things that we
love to do.
So I am super excited abouttrying to go for this.
It definitely was a very, it wasnot an easy decision because
that whole thing in the back ofyour brain of what if I fail,
(10:02):
what if this isn't if I crashand burn?
And I think that's somethingthat we all face when we are
going after something new, something, um, different that's
out of our comfort zone.
As many of with my daughter shehas her blood condition.
I haven't really worked in 12,like 13 years.
(10:25):
I'm a stay at home mom.
I'm home all the time with her.
I homeschool her.
So I've been able to do this.
I feel like I come from, a lotof can relate to other moms,
that, if you're a stay at homemom, or if you're a working mom,
because working moms and stay athome moms, we all work.
(10:47):
Okay.
And I feel I was in your spot.
I was in your.
I went from 145 pounds, unhealthy, drinking all the time
staying up late, not resting, not exercising.
And then I went to the way outthere to over exercising, under
(11:09):
eating, under sleeping, allthose other things.
I've been there.
And then some, you always find away and you find your people.
That will help lead you to theright way, the better way of
doing things, the healthier wayof doing things, accepting that
(11:29):
when you're, in a atmosphere of,being smaller or doing more or,
um, just excessiveness goingexcessive is not the right way.
You have to rest.
You have to recover.
You got to do your yoga.
You got to do your mobility.
because if you can't squat with, good form or you have
(11:53):
limitations, you need to addressthose limitations so you can get
better, so you can liftproperly, so you don't hurt your
back, so your knees get better.
So I've been all over, with my,exercise and strength journey
I've done it all.
I've done all the wrong.
(12:14):
So I feel like this will be veryhelpful you I'll be able to add
more value, I feel, to, to youguys.
Of course I feel, I was like thefirst thing I asked them, I was
like, do you have a pushupspecialty?
Because I would like to do that.
So this is just the beginningand I am super, super excited to
(12:39):
dive into this and to see whatcomes.
I strongly believe that if youhave a dream and a goal, you
should go after it.
And I think that nothing shouldhold you back and surround
yourself with people.
Cause I can remember when I waspondering this and of course I
(12:59):
went to my husband first, talkedto him about it and he's I know
you can do it.
There's not a question.
I know you can do it.
And, I went to, some of myclosest friends and I told them
what I was thinking and my goalsand they're like, that is you,
that's you.
And they were so supportive andI was just like, it is so
(13:24):
helpful to have people aroundyou that are supportive of you
and your goals.
They don't say, oh yeah, youcan't do that.
Yeah, you can't do that becauseI've been surrounded by people
like that.
I was surrounded by Negativity Iwas surrounded by People that
(13:44):
you know Like you honestly feltlike they didn't want you to do
better like they you know, theywanted you to be smaller They
wanted you to be off in thebackground.
They didn't want you know tohave goals for yourself They
just felt like you know what youcan't do it You know, I've been
surrounded by people like thatmy whole entire life, and I
(14:08):
stopped listening to myself, andI started listening to the
outside voices.
So it's so important, like theyalways say, the conversation
changes when you're arounddreamers, when you're around
goal oriented people.
The conversation is justchanging.
(14:30):
different.
Whatever that may be.
It could be basket weaving 101.
This person wants to be the bestbasket weaving 101 person ever.
That's the kind of people like Iwant to be surrounded with and
that's the kind of person that Iwant to be.
My grandfather always raised meto just Never give up, no matter
(14:51):
what it is No matter if peopleare laughing at you no matter if
people are talking about you nomatter if you know if all this
negativity is coming towards youor You know just like how I was
feeling he always knew I coulddo it and it's just like
throughout my life I haven'tbeen able, I felt like I was,
(15:13):
except for dancing, which thatwas like my happy place.
Is I didn't find a niche cause Ilove movement when it comes to
dancing, but I felt like it wasjust like my parents when they
talked about me being a musicteacher.
Oh, you can't be successfuldoing that.
So I went into nursing.
So it's like now, like when Iwas talking with my husband, I
(15:35):
was just like, this is like thebest of both worlds.
Yeah.
Like I get to do something, likeI could do something that I
truly enjoy and putting musicand, and movement together and
like my passion for pushups, like I could share more and be
more knowledgeable about it andlearn from all these amazing
(15:56):
people that I have around me.
And I'm like, I could so dothis.
So I hope y'all are as excitedas I am and think I'm absolutely
crazy because not going to lie.
I think I'm absolutely crazy fordoing this.
But I have a goal, like I just,I want to I want to keep raising
(16:17):
that bar for myself and I wantto be a part of the bigger
thing.
I just want to inspire morewomen to get jacked.
I want to inspire more women to,build muscle, to, not be
smaller, to not think that youronly space is the cardio space,
to not think that you can't getto your goals.
(16:40):
I want to show you, I want toshow you that you can.
I was, like I said, I was thatbeginner, I want to show what
tonal can do.
I want to show what strengthtraining can do and how amazing
the coaches are because I'm afirm believer, with like
programs, there's so many, yougo on Instagram, there's
(17:01):
programs for anything, but it'sif that coach or that trainer
can't reach you and.
Make a difference.
It's just a program.
So that is why I I am sopassionate about I know I talk
about like Joe and all thecoaches all the time, but the
(17:24):
value that they bring is just soinspiring.
So that, that is the podcast.
I know it's a short one, a quicklittle 20 minute podcast.
But.
I am just super excited and I'mexcited to see where this takes
me.
I'm excited to see everythingthat I will learn and, grow to
(17:50):
grow more knowledge.
So I hope you guys enjoyed thisquick little podcast and it's
going to be a crazy year.
So I'll be finishing all mycertifications and the CPT and,
CPR and all that stuff byJanuary 1st.
So January 1st, I will befinished with everything.
(18:13):
So back to school, back tolearning, back to flashcards,
back to pens But I've got a hugesupport system behind me.
So I am really excited to getstarted.
So until next time, we are allstrength in numbers.
