Chris (00:06):
This is the Supercalifragilistic awesome
Disney Podcast where each weekwe discuss, you guessed it,
Disney things you

Kelli (00:13):
know, things you don't know and things you didn't know
you needed to know. Well,

Chris (00:16):
as Walt would say, the way to get started is to quit
talking and begin doing Oh,wait,

Kelli (00:21):
wait, I can do this.
Please didn't clear up thedoors. Poor football mantenga
c'est la hora de la Deus.

Chris (00:28):
Welcome aboard Disney fam. Welcome aboard indeed.
Disney fam. My name is Chris andI'm Kelly and she is fired up
today. So who knows what we'regonna get? She's I don't think
it's because she's wearing thePixar balls. ears on her head.

Kelli (00:45):
It's not because I have the balls on my head. Fired. I'm
ready already. I might have hadtoo much caffeine. Is there a
thing

Chris (00:53):
you've had? A lot.

Kelli (00:55):
Can you have too much caffeine? I haven't had to find
out. I've had any chocolate. AndI think I should use use some
chocolate as well. Oh, could usesome chocolate as well. All
right, chocolate.

Chris (01:08):
Yeah. Okay. As you can see, hey, wasn't wrong.

Kelli (01:13):
My ears are on. On topic.
Head. Did anybody listen to us?

Chris (01:20):
Yeah, we had downloads from Olathe, Kansas. I don't
know if I'm saying that right.
Oh, la th e. So a lathe, alathe, Kansas, a lathe or lathe
Kansas. The home of the Mahaffeystagecoach stop and farm, which
is which was a popular study.
This is two weeks in a row,we've referenced these trails by
the way, it was a popular stopand resupply spot on the Oregon

(01:44):
California and Santa Fe trails.

Kelli (01:45):
Wow. Assuming you didn't get dysentery.

Chris (01:48):
Right, because you can do that and get to get dysentery
and you can get bit by snake.
Both of those are verydangerous,

Kelli (01:58):
like Oregon Trail, Oregon Trail.

Chris (02:01):
West Orange trail. West Orange, New Jersey. This New
Jersey township west ofManhattan was the hometown of
Thomas Edison. Ah,

Kelli (02:10):
would you look at that about that? Would you look at
that? They've

Chris (02:14):
got a like a I think they restored his home there. They've
created a park and a museumaround that. So that's cool.
Does

Kelli (02:19):
it light up?

Chris (02:20):
So how should light up a nation you should have some
really nice exteriorillumination who live in ancient
Port Royal South Carolina nowwasn't wasn't Port Royal. The
name of the Caribbean islandwhere the arts in the Caribbean
was humorous. Oh,

Kelli (02:40):
wait, where's Port Royal?

Chris (02:43):
It's gonna be Charles call yourself a SAN lapper i i
don't

Kelli (02:46):
actually I don't think I've ever called myself safe.

Chris (02:50):
Port Royal is just south of Beaufort, just north of
Parris Island. So it's right onbattery Creek. They're very much
in the heart of the Lowcountry.
Close your eyes. Think of lowcountry, spine, small Spanish
moss piers and things like that.
And you've got it is very, verySouth Carolina. Low Country.

(03:15):
Absolutely beautiful. Yes.
Right.

Kelli (03:17):
Well welcome Port Royal Port Royal. We

Chris (03:20):
are so happy to have you and congratulations for being
the namesake of the island andPirates of the Caribbean.

Kelli (03:25):
Congratulations, I

Chris (03:26):
think I think that's right. Okay, go ahead and put
out an apology for thisinternational location for I'm
sure butchering the name of thistown but it is Petaling Jaya, in
Selangor Malaysia.

Kelli (03:42):
I think you killed it.

Chris (03:43):
I think I did too.

Kelli (03:43):
And we had Malaysia before that. A couple of
different places a gem Allah

Chris (03:48):
we are really big there.
Koala look for we had. We've hadthree or four. Yeah. This was
originally developed as asatellite town for Kuala Lumpur.
It's home to Asia's firstNickelodeon theme park.

Kelli (04:01):
Really? Okay, well now that's fun. It

Chris (04:04):
is fun and they have a whole bunch of other like they
have one they call a waterparkand when they call a screen Park
I

Kelli (04:10):
wonder if they have like a double day or situation where
you can get slimed or

Chris (04:14):
you have wanted to be on double dare a whole lot your
whole life. I hope that comesthrough life.

Kelli (04:18):
I have wanted to stick my hand up that nose and try to
find the flag

Chris (04:22):
and pull that I got the boogers and slide just to find
the flag flag. That's

Kelli (04:26):
it. I've wanted to pull the flag out of that nose my
whole life.

Chris (04:31):
You know who all is going to get that reference? But I can
see it happening. I can see youdoing that. Just wanted to know
Yeah, goals. Okay, so we gotsome Main Street items today.
They're pretty fun and exciting.
Vicki and owls Michelin starsfinally has their Michelin star.

Kelli (04:54):
I when I saw that I thought How is Vicky and I'd
never had

Chris (04:58):
it's been more it has They have lobbied for it. And I
remember a year ago. They theydid the announcements in Miami.
They did the announcements thispast week in Tampa. But they did
the announcements that was verydisappointing. The Vicki UNAL
didn't get it last year. Butthey've they absolutely have
their Michelin star I

Kelli (05:18):
want to say like, that's the nicest restaurant we've
ever.

Chris (05:22):
It's, it's the it's the most incredible dining
experience I've ever had

Kelli (05:26):
ever. And so if they didn't have a Michelin star,
what must it take? That's whatI'm saying. I

Chris (05:31):
know. I know. I've got a got a friend at work who like
intentionally seeks out Michelinstar restaurants whenever she
goes somewhere. It's sort ofIt's a thing that she enjoys
doing. I love it. I love it somuch. I'm going to ask her this
week. If do you get credit fordining at a Michelin star
restaurant before got a Michelinstar?

Kelli (05:51):
Right It was probably our review on the podcast think that
God I think it finally gotthere. I

Chris (05:56):
think it's been a while since we did the ash 2016

Kelli (05:59):
I remember it. Well.

Chris (06:00):
I mean, I'm taking the review. Oh, the review. It's
been a while. It's been

Kelli (06:04):
a minute. Yes, it has. I think I remember the visit very,
very well. I will never everforget that coffee. I know. It
was the best coffee the bestcoffee had and it was a freeze

Chris (06:15):
if you ever freeze coffee, but it was made in that
vacuum press. vacuum

Kelli (06:20):
press coffee is a revelation. A revelation and a
bread course in between each ofthe actual meals

Chris (06:27):
with with compound butters designed for each bread
core sees different breadcourts. Are you kidding

Kelli (06:34):
me? And the diver scallops that like they had
stove into Maine and gotten

Chris (06:42):
out of the water that morning and carry them down?
Yeah. Yeah. And they were. Theywere big. I mean, we're as big
as divers. And

Kelli (06:50):
that was it is like they they told us he dove down into
the water this morning to fish I

Chris (06:55):
can remember them. I can't remember how they made
those little butter wheels. Youknow, because it wasn't enough
to have this tower of butterthat they brought out to your
table. They they painstakinglymade these beautiful little
twills out of the butter usingtwo spoons before you were
allowed to eat now right now I

Kelli (07:13):
just want bread and butter.

Chris (07:14):
That's what I'm gonna have it for dinner. It's all our
bread and butter for dinner.

Kelli (07:20):
My goodness. Like it's hard that I think that says so
much about me that that's what Iremember the most from the meal
is the coffee, the bread and thebutter. The

Chris (07:27):
status, the status. She's so happy. The saddest thing
about that meal was that youdidn't eat the chocolate thing
we had the

Kelli (07:37):
end not it was it was

Chris (07:40):
it was the best chocolate thing I've ever eaten in my life

Kelli (07:43):
is miserable like completely miserable. And you
had eaten most of the meat

Chris (07:47):
I had I had eaten all your steak and diver scallop and
I was in the scallop

Kelli (07:52):
all that you ate most new still were stuffed at the I was
stuffed it was mostly again thebread and the butter. Which is
my kryptonite but man that wasgood.

Chris (08:03):
It was so good. We had like four servers that were one
was handling all of our just ourwater one was handling our wine
and champagne. And we had a hihat beside us. I mean, it was
It's the nicest meal I've everhad. We saw that woman jerk that
little kid back out of therestaurant because he didn't
have a jacket own

Kelli (08:18):
coat. And they had a sport coat for him to wear. And
I thought Why would you pay thismuch money for a child to eat
here? I couldn't I couldn'timagine because it's the most
expensive meal we've ever

Chris (08:29):
most expensive meal we've ever eaten by far and I just
thought Why would

Kelli (08:33):
you pay that much money for a child to eat at this kind
of a restaurant? Yeah,

Chris (08:37):
it was delightful. I mean, the servers were so good.
The summer. Yeas were soamazing. And they had the
harpist there that was playing.
It was just

Kelli (08:46):
it was it was amazing.
Absolutely amazing. The

Chris (08:50):
Michelin star is long overdue for Vicki and owls, and
I can't recommend it enough,honestly. Yes. And they're the
maitre d got the like the serverof the year also from the state
of Florida. Yes, for the wholestate. The whole state of
Florida got the server of theyear or whatever the maitre d.
He was honored last night alsogood for her whenever they get

(09:12):
to announce Wow, yeah, here'swhat Michelin Star had to. Let's
see. This was the officialrelease, in addition to now
being the first and onlyrestaurant owned and operated by
a US theme park destination tohold a Michelin star. Victorian
hours is the sole location inFlorida hold the honor of having
both the AAA Five Diamondconsecutively since 2000. Wow.

(09:39):
And the Forbes travel guide FiveStar Awards consecutively since
2018. And one of only 26 othersin the nation with the with that
same distinction with I

Kelli (09:52):
mean at some point you got to think that Michelin was
just trying not to give it tothem.

Chris (09:56):
It's what it sort of feels like we can't and so
apparently I'm

Kelli (10:00):
at a theme park. It's at the Grand flow. So that was
their issue like get off thathotel. It

Chris (10:05):
was owned by a theme park resort, I think was probably the
big hang up because Disney hashosted a Michelin star
restaurant previously, I thinkit was called kappa. But it was
third party. It was not owned byDisney.

Kelli (10:19):
It's ridiculous. That's ridiculous. I

Chris (10:21):
think that should if that if that was weighing into the
conversation then let that go.
Because Vicky and Al's is

Kelli (10:28):
ridiculous. Stanley Tucci would present this Michelle LAN,
Michelle, Michelle land becauseit's French this French which I
think is still so surprisingbecause the photo is taken with
the puffy tire with the with theMichelin tire man, what made the
tire company in charge ofrestaurant? I know, I know the
answer to that. Okay, pleasetell me because I'm like, This
is why we've got to move on.
Tell me.

Chris (10:53):
Michelin does tires and years and decades and decades
and decades ago, they issued itwill still started in France.
They issued like travel guidesfor people who were driving
around on their town on theirtires. And so they would issue
this travel guide to if you weredriving through x town they
would recommend places to eat inthat town. And they weren't all
Michelin starred it just sort ofiterated in tune to Michelin

(11:16):
into this thing that that oh, soMichelin goes around and finds
great places to eat if you'retraveling. And so they just
graduated it to being this thingthat drives chefs crazy.

Kelli (11:29):
That's fascinating. A tire company Yes. Like that's
what our restaurants are aimingfor. To get

Chris (11:35):
a shout out about the Stuff You Should Know podcast.
It looks like Stay PuftMarshmallow he does like Stay
Puft Marshmallow Man Yeah, Ithink he came first. He's truly
horrifying and old pictures theyjust as horrifying as like
mascot pictures are from yoursbut I think

Kelli (11:50):
he came before stay Puff

Chris (11:52):
1,000% sure of it.

Kelli (11:53):
Really? Okay that's it he

Chris (11:55):
was he was at the good was horrifying is early days of
this Michelin tire was still notgreat. He's He's a lot better
than he used to. He's looking

Kelli (12:04):
at color of a tire.
That's what I don't get. He'swhite walls. He's made out of
all white tires. And I don't getthat at all. Like, what's the
point? What's he What's hereally made from? I need? I need
to know more about the Michelinman. I'm clearly very curious
about the Michelin man. This issomething I need to hit the
girls for.

Chris (12:23):
I'm just telling you that Vicki and Al's congrats

Kelli (12:26):
Vicki and completely, completely deserve it.
Absolutely

Chris (12:29):
do a lot of effort goes into that. Plus Tiana's Bayou
adventure has just like turnedon, it's not partially nighttime
glow. And it's going to haveTiana's is going to be gorgeous
at night is it is going to beoff the charts beautiful at
night.

Kelli (12:49):
And I'll tell you like that area of the park needed
something because the mind trainbehind them doesn't really have
a lot of exterior lights on ormountain bike. Yeah, it doesn't
really have a lot of exteriorillumination at night. Which I
think is the point right, you'regoing through a mine so it's
dark and what have you. Butstill, that area of the park is
not really lit up at night. LikePecos Bill sort of shut down the

(13:14):
fridge fireplaces sort of shutdown. So I think it's going to
add

Chris (13:19):
it's going to be beautiful, the water is going to
be purple and green and it'sgoing to have these lit up like
lilies and stuff on the waterand, and all the cypress trees
and all they're going to beuplit and it's going to have
this purplish hue and again,it's going to feel a lot like
that. Riding through the swampsin the Pirates of the Caribbean

(13:39):
ride in Paris is what it's goingto have that sort of look and
feel I

Kelli (13:42):
think I just hope they don't have ray with his
toothless grin pretending to bea Southerner because I really
hate his accent. I am not forride the Firefly. I don't like
that he is depicted as atoothless southerner. With his
accent I

Chris (13:57):
feel offended think he's gonna be there.

Kelli (13:59):
I'm offended by Ray the fire. All right, well, fireflies
don't have teeth. pare thatdown.

Chris (14:06):
I don't talk either need to do the alligators. I'm

Kelli (14:08):
just saying so why make him Toothless? Why give him a
toothless grin. Unnecessary,unnecessary stereotyping. Seen
when necessary stereotype.

Chris (14:19):
Last bit here. And Walt Disney Studios Park in Disney
Land Paris is going to begetting a new name and look. Not
for this name. I don't thinkthey tried hard enough is going
to be changed to DisneyAdventure World. Sounds like
something from a vacation movie?
Well, here's what they say.

(14:40):
After transporting generationsof guests into the magic of
moviemaking. The second pocketDisneyland Paris is entering a
new era marked by fresh creativevision, brand new experiences
and expansion of never forcingscale and the introduction of
all new visual identity so thatthis is going to coincide with
the opening Have the world offrozen there which late this

(15:03):
year next year and what's goingto have happening is this is
going to become a land ofimmersive experiences of
interest campuses already theirrole the frozen will be a fully
immersive experience and they'reall going to be situated on this
majestic bay that Studio Onething you walk through when you
go in there yeah, they're gonnatear that down we're gonna have

(15:24):
a I know that was I know I knowyou did. I knew it was gonna
hurt your feelings. I reallyliked your you'll enter into a
whole new adventure promenadeand go from there Yeah, I

Kelli (15:36):
get that it's hard to marry the Avengers with frozen
it is I guess it is

Chris (15:41):
and then and then you got that I

Kelli (15:42):
do think they could have tried a little bit harder than

Chris (15:44):
it was an adventure world I know the that Remy area is
really cool really nice overthere and so it feels immersive
already. They

Kelli (15:54):
don't really feel adventurous. The immersive Yes,
but adventurous May. Okay, well, and they could have

Chris (16:00):
tried a bit harder with the name with the naming they
could have tried to I'm for thework they're doing. Yeah, but
let's just read let's work onthe name a little bit. Revisit
the name Adventure World sounds

Kelli (16:10):
out of it. Workshop. Are

Chris (16:13):
you ready to tell us all about whatever's happening in
your Tomorrowland? Is it reallyTomorrowland is actually taking
liberties

Kelli (16:21):
so when you and I go places, it's not just as you
just in general go places likeand say we're shopping or what
have you. If we're not togetherlike you're in a different part
of the store or something. We'lltext each other pictures things
and I'll reply with either wantor need in need is an all caps
deed means buy buy buy right nowbuy right now,

Chris (16:43):
I spent $1,000 In boutique e once and you weren't
even in Florida wasn't even inFlorida. But using that using
that same methodology

Kelli (16:51):
that system right? It's a good system we've got sure and
so in any case, I was lookingthrough some of the stuff
happening at Disney this summerand I came across a significant
number of souvenir mugs andpopcorn bucket. Okay, and so I'm
gonna give you the 10 popcornBuck buckets and souvenir mugs
that you need in all caps. Okay, summer Okay,

Chris (17:11):
that's let's see, these

Kelli (17:12):
are needs all caps. If you really really it's a real
need than it needs to be in allcaps. Okay, so you really need
so first we're going to startwith Star Wars now some of this
stuff is available at bothGalaxy's edge and in Disneyland
Park. But a lot of it's just oneor the other. Okay, but so need
need need. Okay, the first oneis a grinning loft cat souvenir

(17:35):
mug. This includes guava coconutmilk with basil crystals. This
is new. He is only a DisneyLand. He she I don't know. These
things are selling for almost$100 on eBay. Oh wow. Already.
It looks like it belongs atTrader Sam's like it's sort of

(17:56):
car oh I see interestingreminisce trader Sam's I don't
know what a lot cat loves cats.
Love cat. Okay. I don't know. Idon't know why he's grinning.
But highly recommend. He's totesadorbs Okay. Also at Disneyland
Park. Now you can get that onethe greeting logcat is only at

(18:16):
ogos Okay, this one is a dockingby seven galactic grill and
ronto roasters. It's called asap tap cup. Oh, okay, this
includes a fountain beverage atthe time of purchase. And so
what this looks like is like aclear mug sitting on like a
metal thing with a straw thatsort of goes around it or

(18:39):
through it and all thatinteresting. I don't know what
that has to do with Star Warseither. But it looks really
cool. You need it. i Everybodyneeds everybody. This is the
kind of thing that like whenyou're just like sitting out on
the patio this summer drinking, put it in your SAP tap cup.
Because that thing is is a need.

(19:02):
It's a need. Okay, but limit twoper person on all of these
things. Right? Some of these arefor May the Fourth, may the
fourth be with you celebration.
Okay, next we've already touchedon this is your salvaged
Stormtrooper helmet bucket. Nowthis looks like a helmet that's
been like beat up and left inthe sand somewhere. So you're
eating the popcorn out of thebottom of the bottom of the

(19:26):
helmet right? Down to put yourpopcorn in it look really,
really cool. You can get this atDisneyland or at Galaxy's edge.

Chris (19:36):
This is a this is a helmet of a storm trooper that
has been taken out. His helmetfell into the dusty desert. And
it's been sitting there for aminute

Kelli (19:45):
and then it's all beat up. Along that same line. You
can also get a droid partspremium vessel, and that's just
all I call it premium vessel,but it's a popcorn. It's a
popcorn bucket. And so what itlooks like is you know you can
Build Your Own droid. It sort oflooks like somebody went in
there and just put extra droidparts together and then beat

(20:06):
them with a baseball bat. Soit's completely mismatched Sure,
you can get this at Disneylandor at Galaxy's edge. Okay, so
you get them at either placeagain, that went actually limit
10 per person. So they're notthinking there's going to be a
rush on the droid parts, which,I mean, I'd say, you know, same
with the SAP tap cup. That's 10per person. I think they're

(20:27):
underestimating that. And thenthe one that is my personal
favorite, is the job of the Hutttalking popcorn bucket. Yes, he
is 3425 with popcorn or you canget him 3179 with fries, a
bucket of a fries.

Chris (20:45):
That's what I'm talking about like it. Why don't we do
this more often?

Kelli (20:48):
It's easy for me to say I just want the bucket and no
popcorn.

Chris (20:52):
It is not easy to say I'm not going to do that with the
frog. Give me the bucket full offrog. I'll take two buckets one
to eat my fries. I love it oneto stay clean. Like

Kelli (21:03):
I'm not gonna turn that down. These things are $30 with
the fries and they're sellingfor 60 on eBay. He even

Chris (21:10):
if they're those crappy fries, poutine starch whatever.
He includes a strap

Kelli (21:15):
and a salacious B crumb straw clip. This is like a
little a little alien. A littlebrown alien man with big ears
kind of looks like

Chris (21:24):
a tall. He's He's, he's Java's pit. So

Kelli (21:28):
let's just be crumb.
Sure. Okay, that's his name.
Okay. Get his name, right. It'ssalacious B crumb. Okay, so Java
laughs when you open his headand so you open it like you tilt
his head back and it opens hismouth. Yeah, he laughs and then
when you close him, he makes asatisfied sound like he's
enjoyed his tasty snack.

Chris (21:49):
It's really, that's got to be the top item on this whole
list.

Kelli (21:52):
Gotta be it's gotta be I think it's amazing. And then
also what you need though. Thisis my favorite souvenir mug
situation. Okay, is the ringcore beer flight souvenir board
with four teeth. Okay, now thisis cool. Okay, looks like like a
piece of wood. It's not it'smade again, out of the same

(22:12):
stuff that you get at TraderSam's right like a pottery like
ceramic. Yeah, almost likeceramic. So it looks like a
board like driftwood with fourlegs, okay, and it's got four
holes going across the top ofit. And inside each of those
holes is like a tooth shapedshotglass that's Fanta rank or
teeth. Right? It's a rank coretooth shotglass I knew I

(22:34):
definitely knew that. And soit's a beer flight so they put a
different beer in each of your

Chris (22:39):
thumb on that's awesome.
I know right? Like

Kelli (22:42):
this is only a Disneyland's August canteen.
Okay, okay, right. I mean, I'msure you can get it on eBay if
you're willing to drop a couple100 Okay, so that's everything
you need from the Star Warsperspective, right definitely
popcorn buckets and souvenirmugs that you need capital in E
D. Okay, now at Disneyland theyalso do this big thing called

(23:04):
Pixar fest. Sure. And so they'vegot some really cool stuff. Now
I'm gonna go through the mugsand the slippers that you need
honey but just as an aside, okay, at Pixar fest you can get
a fried bologna sandwich. It isfried bologna Monterey Jack
mustard mayo on white breadserved with House made chips
cinnamon apples and picklespear. What that baloney is half

(23:25):
an inch thick. I need a new it'sI put it on here. Just for you
for Pixar fans

Chris (23:31):
eat capital in

Kelli (23:35):
love that so much.
Apparently it's inspired by upso maybe Carl liked I made
sandwiches. Okay, so yoursouvenir slippers and buckets
are the alien Pizza Planet Truckbucket. So it looks like the
Pizza Planet. Truck. It's dirty, you know, and a box of popcorn
sits in the bag. So that's oneof those that you can get the

(23:55):
popcorn at. That's not going toruin the butcher. Sure. Okay.
The cocoa guitar bucket. Okay, and so this is this is part of
that sounded like one of theit's part of the 100th
anniversary, and so the front ofthe guitar opens. So this is
definitely one you're not goingto put the popcorn in. It's not
going to be easy to eat at all.

(24:18):
But it really is Tofail totesadorbs and it's available. Both
of these start April 26. That'swhen Pixar fest starts okay? The
Slinky Dog sipper. Okay, so thisis a cup okay with a Slinky dog
but it faint at the bottom.
Slinky dog head at the top andhis in his springs go around the
conch fun. Yeah, he's reallycute. He is also at Pixar fest,

(24:42):
only two per person. They'reexpecting a run on the Slinky
Dog slippers. My personalfavorite, and you've got to be a
magic key holder for this. Theseare annual passes, right? Sure.
Yeah, this is the Doug bucket Ohno kid, I really want the duck
bucket. Also limit one perperson, holy

Chris (25:06):
cow. They're expecting him to fly off the show massive

Kelli (25:09):
run on this and you gotta be the magic key holder for it.
Right but the Doug bucket and soit looks just like Doug. I
couldn't find out if he talks ornot.

Chris (25:20):
Java talks it doesn't got to talk, talk.

Kelli (25:24):
It's a massive, massive oversight. And I just want you
to imagine me. Okay, walkingaround Pixar fest with my Slinky
Dog sipper and my dog bucket offries.

Chris (25:39):
You've you've now committed to them selling fries.

Kelli (25:42):
I won't fry buckets forget the popcorn. Right?
Forget the popcorn. I want thefried bucket fried buckets

Chris (25:47):
you will sell twice as many buckets how happy am I? You
will have that set your realhead and my duck bucket of
fries. You are really happyespecially if you've got your
Slinky dog ears on.

Kelli (25:59):
I do I have on the Slinky dog ears and they've given me
cheese to dip the fries in. AndI'm not dollar cheese dollar
dollar cheese. Okay, but I'm nottalking about the comments
prepackaged.

Chris (26:08):
Alright, you're talking about that dollar cheese. We got
Woody's

Kelli (26:11):
lunchbox That was some good dollar cheese. Couldn't
believe it. Homemade dollarcheese. So

Chris (26:17):
much better than the dollar classic cheese. So much
better than dollar I mean I'lltake dollar plastic. Like this
was just $1 and it's real isreal cheese was

Kelli (26:29):
legit good. That was some homemade dollar cheese. And I
want that with my dog bucketfries. If they're not doing that
at Pixar Fest and they aremessing

Chris (26:39):
up missing and missing million dollars worth of cheese
if they just do that.

Kelli (26:45):
I mean I've got three or four cups this is just $1 you
gonna fill up my whole duck withfries Can I get some extra
dollar cheese?

Chris (26:55):
I will and I want the fries coming out of the top of
Doug's head I want

Kelli (26:59):
a full bucket of fries and I'm gonna need I think Doug
bucket I want to fold Dougbucket fries and I want at least
for them dollar cheeses with tocost you $4 Put them in my rank
or

Chris (27:15):
put a member here just put it right into my rank or
teeth. Oh my goodness. Be realyou wouldn't know anything about
those

Kelli (27:25):
by souvenir merch by

Chris (27:27):
dollar cheese mugs and fries

Kelli (27:31):
Oh my gosh. I've just discovered my happy

Chris (27:36):
so people some people's happy place or beaches or
mountain whatever oceans you doyou you You're Happy Places
sitting on a bench at Disneylandwith a duck bucket full of fries
happily my dollar cheese andyour dollar cheese.

Kelli (27:53):
Dip it into my record beer

Chris (27:54):
flight you don't ask for much.

Kelli (27:56):
I really don't ask for much. I don't think I do. I love
it. You think though refillsAdela cheese was good. Popcorn
refills. Like give me a frenchfry refill. Sorry, I'm taking up
space. Sorry, sorry. Sorry.

Chris (28:12):
All right. Here's a little turn. I have finally we
finally watched wish we did. Andmad at myself for not watching
it earlier. It's on me but lookspoilers ahead. Okay, it's been
a while it's been out it's beenout on Disney plus now for at
least a week. So, spoilers. Ialso want to call out Connor and

(28:33):
Caroline who did this on theirpodcast recently. And I did not
listen to it after I found outyou what you're talking about
this because I wanted to I didnot want to be biased by what is
undoubtedly a wonderful episodeof theirs. But listen to their
go listen to theirs be great. Sowhat I what I love we've talked

(28:54):
about this before is I lovecallbacks. I love Easter eggs I
love when somebody writessomething into a story and then
they get a call back to it muchmuch later. Right. And this is
what this movie is. This is I'vereferred to this as a love
letter to the first 100 years ofDisney Animation is what this

(29:14):
movie is. The creators confirmedthat there are over 100 possibly
as many as 150 easter eggs inthis movie, calling out and
honoring all of the Disneymovies that had come before it.
Wow. Okay.

Kelli (29:32):
But But we decided it's 100

Chris (29:35):
We decided that they?
Yes, we decided because this

Kelli (29:39):
movie was meant to celebrate the 100th anniversary.
So why would you put any numberother than 100 Easter egg?

Chris (29:44):
I think maybe what they said was let's get to at least
100 No, I think they did

Kelli (29:48):
100 And then they said it's 100 to 150. Like just to
make people keep looking

Chris (29:52):
in the region over and over again.

Kelli (29:54):
I think it's 100

Chris (29:55):
All right. Well, sure.
Okay, we'll go with that. LookDoes this movie pack the
emotional punch of Encanto? Ormarijuana or even frozen? No, it
does not. What it does dobrilliantly is celebrate the
magic and the history of Disneyanimation, and how wishes have
always been a part of thatmagic, right. I'm gonna get into

(30:18):
the Easter eggs. That's what mysegments about, but I do want to
call out that there is there'sthere really is so much to love
about this movie, not the leastof which is the heroine, Russia.
multiracial kids around theworld now have a Disney princess

(30:39):
that they can see themselves in.
She's not a princess. Okay?
She's going to be treated like aprincess in the park see
character, right? She's theheroine of the movie, and
whatever. They can seethemselves in her

Kelli (30:52):
right. She doesn't really have an official title.

Chris (30:55):
Okay. I'm telling you, they're gonna treat you like a
princess. We're gonna get to seeyou're like all the other
princesses at the parks. Asha.
The statement on princessesfandom site says the ASHA is
diverse multiracial, biracial,Disney heroine being of North
African and Iberian ancestry.

(31:16):
Aisha is the second black DisneyPrincess Tiana and she is the
love this. She is the fourthDisney princess to have
freckles. Oh, at the Rapunzel,Mara and Ana.

Kelli (31:29):
Ana had freckles. Yeah, yes, sir. So

Chris (31:32):
in any case, let's talk about the ways in which the
multitude of ways in which thismovie honors the movies that
come before it. Yeah, okay.
Okay. First of all, is the lookof the movie just a general
look. They use the same aspectratio and design as Sleeping
Beauty. And some of the moviesthat came before sleeping
medium. Sleeping Beauty came outin the 50s they have apparently
not used that same methodologysince that movie.

Kelli (32:00):
Yeah, when we were watching it, we were like what
kind of animation? This is

Chris (32:03):
watercolors on those it was it was so soft, and pretty,
you know? And they also returnedto the story book opening
literally a story book at thebeginning of the movie, opening
to tell the story to set thescene like we saw with Snow
White and Pinocchio

Kelli (32:19):
and it was Beauty and the Beast the last one to do that.

Chris (32:22):
Did beating the beast do that? Okay, well that's cool. I
don't know that may have beensure enough. Yeah, um, Disney
had gotten away from having trueobvious villains. Frozen didn't
have in Hans was a bad guy, butwasn't like wasn't a main was it
like an Ursula or somethingright. The second one didn't

(32:45):
even really have a presidenthave a bad guy necessarily. To
Mallanna it was to car but thatwouldn't have been to feed your

Kelli (32:55):
ad right. canto

Chris (32:57):
canto

Kelli (32:57):
abuela, but she you know, right around,

Chris (33:00):
right, so wasn't really an evil wasn't like a magnifico,
right. So they wanted to makesure let's let's honor that.
Let's get a big baddie sorcererin here again. The green strings
of Magnificus magic very muchcall back to Maleficent or even
the Evil Queen from Snow White.
As his staff receptor that heends up having she used one of

(33:22):
those right magnetico storespeople's wishes right and he
keeps he he unloads the burdenof having wishes and dreams and
stores them and then parses themout as he deems fit, right. So
there is there's a scene wherehe is literally popping people's
wishes. He's gotten angry. He'spopping people's wishes, and we

(33:45):
see what the wishes were for thethree that he ends up popping.
One of them the all three ofthem. One of them is like a
Peter Pan and wants to fly likePeter Pan. One of them is I want
to make dresses like Cinderellalike auroras dresses, like
Sleeping Beauty dresses, and oneis someone whose wish is to find
the perfect nanny. And as he'sas he's popping, it, even says,

(34:06):
I'm popping it. Yep. All right.
Yeah, very cool little callbackthere. He literally has his own
magic mirror and literally saysMirror mirror on the wall,
although I don't think that'sthe actual quote from the movie.
I think it's magic mirror on thewall. Okay. He has Snow White's
poison apple on his desk. I sawthat. Yep. And he ultimately

(34:29):
gets sucked into the sector. AndI didn't see this one called
that anywhere on thedocumentation. I used to
collider, and I used GoodHousekeeping for the sources. So
thanks to them. But you actuallysaid literally wouldn't have and
you said anybody living spaceand I think that's absolutely
what they were doing their ashesfriend friends, her human

(34:51):
friends. There are seven ofthem. Okay. They are imbued with
slight character. mistakes ofthe Seven Dwarfs from snow
count. No, no, these are justher human friend. She's got
seven friends that she hangs outwith they're in recess. They're

(35:12):
the color schemes of theirclothes match the color schemes
of whichever their correspondingdwarf was. But not like an
obvious not an obvious way. RedDario is Dobby and he's his
outfit is green. He wears a catthat's purple. Dahlia is her
friend that she's doc and shewears glasses. Very similar.

(35:34):
Very similar. Yeah, she alsowalks with a cane which again,
love it. They never call thatout. never talked about it. But
it's there. Gatto is one of ourfriends. He corresponds with
grumpy and even at one point inthere he says that's why I'm so
grumpy. Right? He even says thatmovie. He's played by Harvey and
you know that is he playsGuillermo on what they do in the

(35:57):
shadows. He's been in otherthings too. But that's all the
gear. I love. Oh

Kelli (36:01):
my god. That makes me watch it again.

Chris (36:04):
I know. Ashes animal friends literally gets called
one of them gets called out asbeing Bambi. Right? Is that the
goat? No, that's the deer that'sit. There's a deer in the goat
is Valentina by Alan Tudyk. Inthe movie was great. No, Bambi

(36:24):
when when when star makes themall talk. Right? Bambi looks at
a bear and says thanks, John fornot eaten me. And I think the
bear refers to Bambi as Vandy, right? There's also a talking
rabbit who is clearly Thumper.
He literally thumps his foot onthe ground but the bear Bambi is
like Thanks John. Will ended upin Little John from Robin Hood

(36:47):
was a bear it's so good. Theplants the star brings some
flowers to life that arebasically pulled directly out of
Alice in Wonderland the talkingflowers and he also brings or it
brings some mushrooms to life.
And someone says oh this iscrazy and the mushroom scream

(37:07):
out I love crazy love crazy.
Straight from Frozen. Ashes goat the start of the movie is to
become a what? A Sorcerer'sApprentice. Okay, who was a
sorcerer's apprentice, Mickey,Mickey and Fantasia. Right? Not
an accident. As she's trying tolead magnifico away from the

(37:28):
castle she dons a cloak with apurple ribbon similar to the one
worn by Fairy Godmother stargifts her with a stick that he
turns into a magic wand. She istrying to figure out how to use
it and immediately adorns a treewith what to me appears to be
the dress that Cinderella triedto make for herself. Okay. Star
sprinkles Stardust as magic verysimilar to tic Tinks pixie dust.

(37:53):
Its face is a heart but it alsoharkens back to Mickey Mouse's
face Adelphi face yes sir likeDuffy's face that's right. In
chance a bunch of stuff andMagnificus dungeon or tower I
can't remember which including aquill that immediately starts to
draw what is clearly going to bea Mickey Mouse and never
finishes it. We never see it,but your Sim unmistakable. Now

(38:16):
the last one that I'll talkabout, is her grandfather saba.
First of all, he's 100 yearsold. They mentioned that over
and over and over again, don'treally well for 100 He really is
lest we forget that this is alla celebration of Disney's 100
years, right. His wish was alsorescued from magnifico was to
create a song that would inspiregenerations, we get to the end

(38:39):
of the movie, we do not knowwhat that is. And we watched the
credits. The credits arebeautiful, by the way, because
they have the star lit images ofall of the great Disney movies
that came before which in orderI believe, and then post
credits, we hear Saba sittinglooking over the city, and he

(38:59):
starts to play the notes of Whenyou wish upon a star. And it
just sort of hits you that thiswhole movie has been an origin
story of sorts you wish for Whenyou wish upon a star and why we
use wishes so much throughoutthe movies. It's really
wonderful. The whole movie iswonderful and happy and joyful.

(39:20):
And I just it's such a feel goodmovie. I highly recommend and I
hate that it took us so long towatch it I think I

Kelli (39:31):
think it's a good idea.
