Kelli (00:01):
Super, super, or whatever the infernal thing is.

Chris (00:06):
This is the Supercalifragilistic awesome
Disney Podcast where each weekwe discuss, you guessed it,
Disney things

Kelli (00:13):
you know, things you don't know and things you didn't
know you needed to know. Well,

Chris (00:17):
as Walt would say, the way to get started is to quit
talking and begin doing oh bythe

Kelli (00:21):
way, I can do this.
Please stand clear of the doorspoor football Muntean God say
Alejandro de Les Paul.

Chris (00:28):
Welcome aboard Disney fam Hello out there Disney fam. My
name is Chris and I'm Kelly andwe wish you a Happy Easter. If
you celebrate that sort ofthing. We are thrilled to wish
you a happy Ramadan if youcelebrate that kind of thing.
Passover and Passover. If you'recelebrating the holidays then

(00:52):
good for you. Good for you. Welove you for it and happy to be
back on the show this week.
You're wearing your Pixar ballears

Kelli (01:00):
I am because I'm talking about a very specific Pixar
character and Pixar movie. Andso my Pixar ball

Chris (01:07):
ear Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah. Like, like they

Kelli (01:11):
were the really the closest thing I had to that
movie or care. Okay,

Chris (01:14):
I'm excited about I can't wait to hear what you're gonna
go. How are you gonna

Kelli (01:18):
take that? Oh, hey, honey. Did anybody listen to us
this week? Westland

Chris (01:22):
Michigan people did. They are west of Detroit, little tiny
town. They're just just 16 mileswest of Detroit. We're

Kelli (01:28):
huge in Michigan. We

Chris (01:29):
are huge. There. We are.
So Michigan town every everyweek, Detroit in particular and
there's suburbs. cannot getenough of us. Awesome. Clifton,
New Jersey, which is just westnorthwest of Manhattan. Just run
across the river there.
Providence, Utah, which isoutside of Logan, Utah, which is
right between Bear Lake and theGreat Salt Lake. Okay, cool.

(01:52):
Yep. And superset I don't thinkwe ever named anybody, any town
in this country before? I don'tthink possible. You tell me
Sollentuna Sweden,

Kelli (02:03):
Solon tuna. Are we sure that's how it's pronounced. I

Chris (02:06):
literally went to a pronunciation guide. And that is
how it's pronounced. So in tunein Sweden,

Kelli (02:11):
I can guarantee I don't believe I've ever heard that. So
I don't Well, not that town. ButI can't

Chris (02:15):
remember if we've ever named a Swedish town before.
They're right outside ofStockholm, right down the Baltic
Sea.

Kelli (02:21):
Beautiful little place.
Welcome. Sweet.

Chris (02:23):
I'm sure they're very happy. They're all there's all
the Scandinavian countries areso happy. You want to know
what's going on in the world. Ido play in the world of Disney.
So after Ron DeSantis washumiliated because Disney plays
chess instead of checkers. As wetalked about last week, he

(02:46):
declared that there will be morepunishment stemming from their
audacity to defy him. He didn'tuse those exact words, but he
used some pretty inflammatorywords. Buckle up, Disney better
buckle up. Make no mistake, wewill win on every issue. This
sort of talk. So looking topunish Disney guests and cast

(03:08):
members with additional hoteltaxes local toll roads, they've
also helped

Kelli (03:13):
why would why would you want to punish guests and cast
members. That's what I don't getas

Chris (03:18):
though because it's gonna make us all hate Disney. And he
also acts like Disney World isDisney. Disney World is a series
of theme parks and Florida.
Disney is a multi conglomeratemedia network. He doesn't know
that. That's smart. So in anycase, yeah. And then I think

(03:39):
he's also officially requested acriminal investigation into the
agreement that they made withthe former board. Even though
they they literally had all

Kelli (03:52):
the meetings ceremony on that. Yeah.

Chris (03:55):
There to be clear this level of retribution against the
largest employer in Florida. Andsuch a huge driver of the
Central Florida economy is notpro business and not considered
particularly conservativeeither. This is there is a name
though, for using the power ofthe government to punish those
who disagree with you, but wewon't go there. During Disney's

(04:19):
annual meeting, Iger took astrong Bob Iger took a very
strong stance against DeSantis.
stating a year ago, the companytook a position against pending
Florida legislation. And whilethe company may not have handled
the position that they took verywell, I'll say a company has a
right to the freedom of speechjust like individuals do. Yes,

(04:40):
obviously, in taking thatposition, Ron DeSantis got very
angry against the position thatDisney took and it seems like he
has decided to retaliate againstus, including the naming of a
new board to oversee theproperty of the business, in
effect to seek punishment. As acompany to see punishing a
company for its exercise of aconstitutional right, that just

(05:03):
seems wrong to me against anycompany or individual but
especially against a companythat means so much to the state
you live in, right?

Kelli (05:12):
It makes no sense and nobody is behind him on this.

Chris (05:16):
No, this is this is all pretty dumb. And just speaks to
just purely the thin skinnednature of the man and the
willingness to shift your idealsto win an argument. At that same
annual meeting, by the way, happier subject. Iger announced

(05:37):
$17 billion worth of investmentinto Walt Disney World, which
will create 13,000 new jobs overthe next decade. Yeah, let's
piss those people off. Right, right. $17 billion in
investment, which, by the way,is very exciting. When you
consider some of the thingsthey've hinted at in the past.

(05:59):
I'm thinking about all thatspace, they're behind big
thunder. I'm thinking about thecasita somewhere. Yeah,

Kelli (06:07):
none of that makes any sense at all. So

Chris (06:11):
Walt Disney World will resume annual pass holder sales
on April the 20th, theincredible pass $1,399 But that
one has no blackout dates. It'salso the only one that's that's
available to people that liveoutside of Florida. It's the
incredible pass the incrediblepass. Yes. $1,400. The next one

(06:33):
down is the sorcerer's pass.
This is $969 it's available toFlorida residents and DVC
owners. DVC owners can actuallybuy this starting April 13. So a
week earlier. Okay. That's cool.
Yeah, and this one is, does haveblackout dates, but they're
effectively the four days aroundThanksgiving and the two weeks

(06:54):
surrounding Christmas and NewYears. Those are the only
blackout dates that you can'tget a reservation. Okay. Pirate
pass is $749 for residents onlysome additional blackout dates
beyond just the holidays that Imentioned. And then they've got
the pixie dust past $399 Floridaresidents only and this is

(07:15):
basically weekday availability.
Okay. So if you're you know, youwant to go to Disney World on
Monday through Friday. Yeah, absolutely. Now they have
upgraded the mobile ordernavigation on the My Disney
Experience app. And it is it ismuch easier to use actually,
they did a really great job withwith this navigation. I just

(07:37):
bring this up also to say themobile order is an absolutely
good way to go. When you are inthe park. It is the way to get
absolutely a a stellar option orcountersuit. 100% Yep. It's so
hard to find seating. So go findyour seat, then place your order
it's

Kelli (07:57):
or place your order and then look for your seat for the
next one.

Chris (08:01):
Exactly. That's right.
Yeah. Speaking of Genie plus thething that people just love to
complain about, Gosh, earlierthis week, it's sold out in
record time despite reaching thehighest charge ever for Genie
plus 35 bucks a day that Tronopened and sold out in record
tough course. Like, I mean itjust is what it is prized by

(08:26):
this it is what it is frankly

Kelli (08:29):
like Disney is not the first theme park to do something
like this. Certainly not.

Chris (08:36):
But you know and I get I get why people get upset about
it. But they're the parks arekilling it right

Kelli (08:43):
now. Disney is not nonprofit.

Chris (08:46):
The journey of water inspired by malata marijuana

Kelli (08:49):
marijuana which you

Chris (08:52):
know, water continues to progress still slated to open up
later this year in the fall Ithink But water is officially
flowing through the trash Hey,nice water is flowing and
they've installed someeducational signage. All right,
that's fantastic. Going to beabout Disney did get right to
work tearing down the harmoniousbarges the very next day after

(09:14):
the last showing of erroneousEpcot forever, immediately took
the place of harmonious the verynext night. That is one of the
things that impressed blows meaway. recive they they're like
yep, The One Show is going toend on this day. And the very
next day they start upsomething. It was the same way
for the happily ever after.

Kelli (09:36):
Because it makes you think like Where have they been
practicing this?

Chris (09:39):
I know. I know. Or just it's also dialed in through
computer programming that stuffcould happen. I know. We're
talking about paratek

Kelli (09:49):
actus. Yes.

Chris (09:52):
The they started happily ever after the very next slide
after stopping enchantment andEpcot forever now they will
start a new show in the fall atEpcot, but they're very tight
lipped on what that's going tobe like. Okay, so that we'll
have something else to lookforward to. Yay. But it won't be

(10:13):
harmonious. The culturalrepresentatives are back at the
animal kingdom resorts, which isa very cool, that adds to the
liveliness of those resorts. Soyou got musical performers and
and experts in the zoologicalparts of the animal kingdom.

(10:34):
Yep, words are not coming easilyto me tonight. Struggling.
Disneyland has a throwbacknight. Now this is interesting.
This will be on April the 18thand the 20th $129 for the
18th $145 for the 20th. This isa you know, obviously a paid
late night type environment.
They're at Disneyland, and it'scalled throwback night. So

(10:57):
everything sort of gets thrownback to the 50s. Okay, okay. And
so with that, along with a lotof special entertainment and
special food, they also havesome very rare characters
available for meet and greet.
Such as I mean, everybody youwould think you would get to
see. Okay, but then alsohyacinth, hippo and Mademoiselle

(11:21):
up and over. Wow, you know, these people are? No, these are
characters from Fantasia, thehippos and the ostriches. Oh, my
goodness. Mother and father fromCarousel of Progress. Oh, good
to meet them. Maybe Maybe that'swhere I want to meet. I know.
Space couple from Tomorrowland.
Apparently when Tomorrowlandopened there was a couple that

(11:43):
had some very futuristic Jetsonlooking costumes, regular people
inside these costumes. Oh mygod, they're coming back.

Kelli (11:51):
So who we're seeing here are like characters from the
50s? I think so. And then whatelse? We're gonna have snacks
from the 50s

Chris (11:58):
I don't I don't know what else something we should look
into. This seems

Kelli (12:01):
like a very interesting event, and

Chris (12:03):
a main character from flight to the Moon or former
ride. Mr. Tom Morrow.

Kelli (12:08):
Morrow,

Chris (12:09):
you'll get to meet Mr.
Tom Morrow, you'll get to meetyour favorite character and I'll
see you tomorrow. Tomorrow. Soas we get closer to the release
of The Little Mermaid liveaction movie, we continue to get
little nuggets about what toexpect for example, Alan Menken
this week shared that some ofthe lyrics for kissed the girl
and poor unfortunate souls gotan update doesn't make them less

(12:29):
outdated. You know, we don'twant Eric to seem too pushy. And
we don't want we want girls tostill recognize that they're
more than just their voice andthey need to all speak out of
turn. So especially during thepoor unfortunate souls number,

Kelli (12:50):
yes. Okay. Um, for the so yes. Sounds like needed updates
is what it sounds Yes.

Chris (12:56):
Halle, Halle Bailey. Is that her name that will play
Ariel. She is super, superexcited because Ariel wants to
pursue these things out of thewater for herself, not just
because she's chasing some goodfor her. So we're excited about
all of

Kelli (13:12):
that. Okay, um, for that for sure.

Chris (13:15):
Okay, so you're ready for Tomorrowland? I'm excited about
this. Let's hear it. Okay. Sothis weekend actually is still
ongoing right now in London.
Very old London, England. Theyare we mentioned I was I'm gonna
be going in you are going to begoing. I think you've said
something about it. We talkedabout it. You're going to spend

(13:35):
three weeks there. I feel like Ifollowed by a trip to Paris
followed by a trip to Spain. Ifeel like

Kelli (13:43):
we've mentioned it. I just can't quite place my finger
on when we might have done that.
Well, you might as well. I'mgoing to London

Chris (13:52):
for a long time. Well, right now in London's started on
Friday, and it goes throughtomorrow. They're having the
Star Wars Celebration. Lots ofpanel conversations and
announcements about the StarWars and Lucasfilm universe, and
all the fun things that arecoming. And so I've been
following some of my favoriteTwitter folks, as they have you

(14:15):
know, sort of kept up with allthe announcements and whatnot
and there there are some reallyexciting things for those of us
who love Star Wars like like meand you.

Kelli (14:23):
Oh, yes, I love Star Wars. Yes. I love the Star Wars
one character. Luke. It's prettylate. Yeah,

Chris (14:32):
pretty late pretty easily, but, but you know, give
you do mando chewy was Mandosreal name

Kelli (14:41):
Mandalorian. Full Name mando Florian.

Chris (14:50):
Gosh, that is so you Jabba the Hutt could go on for
days.

Kelli (14:56):
I could go on.

Chris (14:57):
One job is I

Kelli (14:59):
don't know I think it's the big green guy. When it looks
like Slimer from Ghostbusters.

Chris (15:07):
Oh my gosh, gotta stop.
You gotta stop. I could, I mean,I could let you go on all day. I
think this is great, greatpodcast fodder, but because I
could listen to it. Yeah, sothis celebration kicked off over
the weekend, chock a block fullof panel discussions and
announcements, I'm going to talkabout the things that I've been
most excited about, okay. First, three new feature length movies.

(15:30):
Okay, that's a big deal in thestunning, they've done so much
small screen stuff to fill inthe gaps between the big movies.
The idea that they're going tomake three new feature length
movies. Now these are not all, like, sequential with each other
like the previous movies havebeen. This is more like when we

(15:52):
when we made Rogue One and stuckit in between two of the series,
right? Okay. So one will be set15 years into the future and
will be set within a within theJedi Academy of the future.
Daisy Ridley will be returningas Ray, she is the one
attempting to rebuild the JediOrder that Luke had tried to

(16:15):
rebuild previously. That was ahuge announcement of this thing.
They they surprised the crowd bybringing Daisy really right out
on stage to announce that shewas going to be in this movie.
We didn't think that she wascoming back. We didn't know that
the next series of movies wouldhave anything to do with her or
any of those characters from thelast series of movies. Okay. All
right. This is 15 years into thefuture. So it was a big deal a

(16:38):
that there weren't new moviescoming at all and that she was
going to be starring in one ofthem. Okay. Two other movies
directed by Dave Filoni andJames Mangold. mangled is fresh
off directing the latest IndianaJones movie. So it could be a
pile of hot garbage but it'll befun. And, but he's going to be

(16:58):
directing one of these newDisney these new Star Wars
movies. And Dave Filoni, whowould John fabro is basically
responsible for the Star Warscanon that we know today. They
have been creating all of thesmall screen things Mandalorian.
Dave Filoni in particular hasbeen responsible for almost all

(17:21):
of the animated work that's beenhas revolutionized the Star Wars
canon storytelling, Bad Batch,CLONE WARS REBELS resistance
Mandalorian tales of the Jediall of them. All of those. Yes,
his new film will be set in theNew Republic era. You familiar
with that era?

Kelli (17:39):
That was a that was like the second trilogy. Right. Am I
right? No, I think I'm right. Itwas like it was the first
trilogy but the way they didthem, they did them backwards.
And so really, it was the secondtrilogy. Okay, you're right.
That's right. You're right. Iwant you to know, I completely
guess. It was just the way youwere like, I was like, oh

Chris (18:06):
yes, that's it's gonna this takes place after as the
New Republic tries to rebuildits democracy after the fall of
the empire. And so two movies inthat time period, I'm totally
for it. Okay. Speaking of thattime period, we also learned
that Return of the Jedicelebrating its 40th anniversary
will return to theaters on Aprilthe 28th for a limited run. My

(18:30):
grandma got me out of school insecond grade to go what I said
today that it opened. You've

Kelli (18:34):
told me that about 10 times this week.

Chris (18:38):
Tell the podcast people the millions of podcast.

Kelli (18:41):
It's a sweet memory honey,

Chris (18:43):
we went to Burger King.
The thing I am the most excitedabout of all the announcements
was the new information thatdropped about a Ahsoka and I
don't know if this was newinformation, but it was new
information for me. And thereally the big game was that
they released a new trailer forAhsoka. This is set to release
on Disney plus in August. Thiswill follow a Soca and

(19:07):
characters that we grew to lovein the Star Wars Rebels. This is
the royal way I'm notnecessarily talking about you in
particular, characters that wegrew to love in the Star Wars
Rebels series, Hera Syndulla, who's gonna be played by Mary
Elizabeth Winstead and SabineWren preed, the previous wielder
of the Darksaber by the way,Sabine Wren, Natasha Lee board

(19:30):
de so I'm hoping I'm saying hername right because she's a
perfect casting for this role.
So we nerd out a little bithere. There's a Star Wars book
series set roughly during thesame time. Known as the throne
series. It focuses on GrandAdmiral Thrawn and his efforts
immediate immediately followingthe death, the death of Darth

(19:52):
Vader, and the death the firstdeath of the Emperor to save the
Empire and to consolidate powerSo, my understanding
understanding was that thesewere going to be the movies that
should have been made instead ofthe array series. But the rebels
animated series throng was themain antagonist in that animated

(20:13):
series. He was the big baddie,it ended with his ship
disappearing into hyperspacealong with that series prime
protagonist, Ezra Bridger.
There's some there's some nerdsout there like me that are that
know exactly what I'm talkingabout blacked out a little I
know. The trailer that previewedduring the celebration this
weekend. previews the return ofthrong we actually get a little

(20:35):
glimpse of him, and a clear callout to those of us who have read
those books. In the throneseries, we hear a sucker refer
to someone as quote, The Heir tothe Empire, which was the title
of one of the books. So thatautomatically got all of my
hairs on and I know the rebelseries ends with Ahsoka and

(20:56):
Sabine vowing to search forEzra. So I wonder if that's
where this movie, or this seriespicks up? I don't know that.
Based on the casting, we willsee Ezra and Grand Admiral
Thrawn. In this series, AhsokaHera and Sabine are exactly the
kind of characters that StarWars fans love to love. Oh,

(21:17):
yeah,

Kelli (21:19):
they are. They do like a so because she has great hair.
Okay,

Chris (21:23):
and you're gonna love hair as hair if I mean, it's not
really hair, but you're gonnalove hair. If you'd like to
Ahsoka, for that reason you'regonna love hair. I don't know
that it's technically hair. ButI'm telling you right now, you
are gonna love all three ofthese characters anyway, because
they are the epitome of strong, capable women. Okay, and I love
that everything I know aboutthis series so far is that sort

(21:46):
of revolves around these threewomen. Okay. We also saw a
little clip of chopper thatTara's little heroic droid, who
was so popular in the rebelseries, and get this there's a
there's a in the all theanimated series. There's a droid
named who Jung or who Yang, whowas responsible for teaching

(22:09):
Jedi children. Okay. Andthroughout the animated series.
He's going to be in thistelevision series, played by
David Tennant.

Kelli (22:20):
Oh, wow.

Chris (22:22):
That's cool. Yeah, I love that. I love that.

Kelli (22:24):
I know David Tennant.

Chris (22:26):
I'd say

Kelli (22:26):
say you're bringing it down to my level honey, of
course.

Chris (22:30):
Okay, so also the acolyte I was not super excited about
this until I read this. Leslieheadland. She's the showrunner
for this pitched her vision forthis show to Lucasfilm as quote
frozen meats Kill Bill This isset. This is set during the

(22:54):
before the Empire came to powerduring the Great Republic. We
see the dark side at a time whenthey are outnumbered and the
underdog is not the maincharacter but it will feature a
a Wookie named kill Naka is thefirst depiction of a live action
wiki Jedi. It'll be played bythe same character that played

(23:15):
Chewbacca. That's gonna be fun.
So,

Kelli (23:19):
okay,

Chris (23:20):
hit me. I see you're got all kinds of confusion.
Chewbacca is a Wookiee Chewbaccais a rookie?

Kelli (23:26):
This is a different rookies, a different rookie.
play by the same character bythe same actor.

Chris (23:32):
The actor inside the have a different rookie costume.

Kelli (23:34):
I can't believe that you're even suggesting that it's
a different than it's a costume.
But in any case, you're tellingme okay, there's two rookies.

Chris (23:46):
There's way more than two weeks

Kelli (23:48):
but in this whatever cannon series, we're heavy.
There's these two rookies. Andthe same person is playing both
Wookie

Chris (23:57):
I don't think Chewbacca is in this series. I think
there's no I

Kelli (24:01):
mean, from from the original Chewbacca to now this
Wookie is the same person. Oh, I

Chris (24:07):
don't know that.

Kelli (24:09):
That's what you're saying. Okay, but then you also
said this is the first liveaction wiki. What does that even
supposed to mean?

Chris (24:17):
I mean, Chewbacca was live action wiki Jedi.

Kelli (24:21):
He's not he's not a Jedi.

Chris (24:22):
Oh my gosh, there are people whose ears are bleeding
right now. The the idea that youwould even speak that sentence?
No, honey, I'm not even gonnaanswer that sentence. Chewbacca
is not a Jedi.

Kelli (24:42):
I thought he was.

Chris (24:44):
I thought he was never seen Chewbacca wield a
lightsaber. I

Kelli (24:48):
didn't know Jedi had to have lightsabers Greg, who
doesn't have a lightsaber andWeiss light saber. But like the
force and whatever. He hasn'tmade his yet, but he can use the
force and so I thought Chewbaccaalso forces like force control

Chris (25:04):
that would say call it I know is not. Oh, man. Okay. Oh
boy. Okay, so the Great segmentWorld Showcase. There are people
out there that are just theywere riveted on the edge of
their seat. I

Kelli (25:23):
know and I blacked out for most of it, but I was I was
trying really hard to keep up.
So I mentioned last week thatDisney is really leaning into
Earth Day this year, and they'redoing a lot with Wally. I think
Wally is the best character indreamlike Valley because he's
just so pure. And I do love him.

(25:43):
If I'm walking around thevalley, and I see Wally, like, I
will run and speak to him. LikeI love Wiley, him and stitch.
They just make my day. So Ithought I would discuss a why
Wally was such a great movie.
Yeah. And why we need to becelebrating Wally every April 1
day. I agree. Like this needs tobe a regular thing that we lean

(26:05):
into, like this is wildly month, and what I mean, so first of
all, let me give you a littlebackground Wiley premiered in
2008. Wow, yep. IMDB has itranked as the best Pixar film.

Chris (26:22):
I, weirdly, I think Wiley, you forget that it's in
that family of movies. But whenyou really start to think about
it, it's

Kelli (26:30):
amazing. It's amazing.
It's amazing. Screen Rant writeshim as one of the 10 best non
human Disney characters. And Ireally went down a rabbit hole
here today on non humancharacters. There's also
anthropomorphic characters, andthen also quiet characters
interesting. And so I was like,is he both nonhuman and quiet?

(26:52):
Not technically because he saysEva, and Wally. So technically,
he's kind of like a Groot. Grootis also not a silent character.
Interesting. But most of thoseon that list, I will say were
sidekicks. Very few of them.

(27:14):
Were the lead man in their ownstory.

Chris (27:16):
See, and Picasso was probably a sidekick. A lot

Kelli (27:20):
of sci fi lot of the silent characters are boo,
carpet. A lot of the silentcharacters are Pluto's a silent
character. A lot of them aresidekicks. They're not the main
one. So I think that reallydistinguishes Wiley in a special
way. He while he got top honorsfor an animated feature film

(27:41):
from the Academy Awards, and theglobal Golden Globes course,
grossed over a half billiondollars in 2008. And was number
one on Time Magazine's BestMovies of the decade list. Wow.

Chris (27:56):
So yes, movies of the decade, the decade of all
movies, not just animatedmovies.

Kelli (28:02):
That's what number one on Time Magazine's Best Movies of
the decade. Wow. Yeah, it's agood movie. It's really great.
very underrated. So here's a onesentence plot summary. Okay. In
the distant future, a smallwaist collecting robot
inadvertently embarks on a spacejourney that will ultimately
decide the fate of mankind. Now,I'll just say like that's a

(28:24):
pretty big,

Chris (28:25):
it's a big endeavor, especially to inadvertently
stumble upon it.

Kelli (28:32):
Avoid the other websites I've failed, described it as
this metallic janitor hasevolved beyond manmade
functionality and has developedfeelings, compassion, and an
overwhelming sense of lonelinesson the futuristic ghost town of
planet Earth. A metallic janitorholds so, so precious. I love

(28:55):
Wally like, I love this guy. Um,okay, so here's some things you
might not know about Wally.
First of all, do you know whovoiced Wally? This is a?

Chris (29:06):
I do but I can't remember. I don't

Kelli (29:08):
need to know the actual name. Do you know what else they
voiced? This is a fun tie inbetween our two segments on. Oh,
is it? Yeah. Wally was voiced bythe guy who played RTD too.
Okay, that makes a lot of good.
Great. Fantastic. He wasinspired by silent films like
Charlie Chaplin. Okay, thatmakes a lot of sense, right? I
mean, because you get thatthere's like choreography in

(29:29):
there.

Chris (29:31):
He literally reminds me of like Buster Keaton.

Kelli (29:34):
Yes, yes. The movies composer. This is a deep cut
here. The movies composer isrelated to the composer of
Wally's favorite movie. Do youremember his favorite movie?

Chris (29:47):
Meet me in St. Louis? No.

Kelli (29:50):
One of the coolest bits of Wally trivia comes from the
music composer Thomas Newman'slast name should ring a bell. He
is in the new Family Film Scoredynasty. His cousin is
songwriter Randy Newman, andseveral of his other family
members are successful filmcomposers. In Wally, the

(30:12):
character's favorite film isHello, Dolly.

Chris (30:16):
Hello, Dolly. Not Meet Me in St. Louis, which

Kelli (30:19):
just so happened to have been composed by Newman's uncle
Lionel Newman. Wow.

Chris (30:26):
Wow.

Kelli (30:28):
Great. It's so good. So Wiley's favorite movie was
composed by Lionel Newman. AndWally was composed by Lionel's
nephew, Thomas.

Chris (30:43):
Wow. And then Randy Newman has done so many other
Pixar movies.

Kelli (30:47):
I mean, that's a deep deep cut. deep deep right there
in the family. Yep. Okay. Themovies creators deny denied its
environmental message. What now?
I'm going to say I think theywouldn't today? Surely not in
2008. I think they were maybetrying to not seem political.

(31:07):
But come on. I mean, that's justa bold faced lie. I both read
the quotes, like, there'snothing about that movie that
doesn't give you an environment.
That's

Chris (31:20):
all it is. And I mean, it's a love story between him
and Eve, too. But yeah, otherwise, it's right. We
destroyed the world. We go tospace, we get

Kelli (31:30):
fat. Yeah. But so I think that's it. I think they were
trying not to be political. Butthe reality is it has a massive
environmental message, which iswhy it should be celebrated
every April Absolutely. Shouldbe almost open as a plant. It
should you know how they playlike a Christmas story. 24 hours
in a row. That's what theauditor do for Earth Day is just

(31:53):
play Wally, 24 hours, every

Chris (31:55):
day in April, we should be able to see that Wally, like
character in the parks Every Dayin April. Yes, yes. After they
only get to see right. You onlyget to see it. It's very special
time. Yes.

Kelli (32:08):
So, another bonus question for you. Okay. Do you
know what wall li stands for?

Chris (32:14):
Waste something.
extermination? I don't know.

Kelli (32:20):
Waste allocation load lifter, Earth class. Okay. Yes.
I mean, it is His name is ashortened version of Walt
Disney. He was named after WaltDisney. So that was a very
definite tie in that wasrecognized from the movie. Okay,
so here are five reasons. Ithink he is always worth

(32:42):
celebrating. Okay. I mean, Ihave just fallen head over heels
for this little robot. I mean, when I was reading some of these
articles and went back and watchsome of the clips from like the
best scenes of the movie, I wastearing up i know i Yes. I've
seen of him and Eve in space.
Fire Hydrant

Chris (32:59):
define dancing. I think it's it's glorious. I

Kelli (33:04):
want to cry. I want to cry right now thinking about it.
It is I love that robot. They'renot gonna lie to you. Like I
think on days when I don't playdream like Valley. Like is Wally
look. Okay, is he okay? This isour homes are kind of near each
other. And I want to be like, Iwonder if he's looking for me.

Chris (33:23):
That That scene is gotta be the most beautiful marriage
of animation, music characters, everything. It's beautiful.

Kelli (33:33):
Okay, so here what?
Here's five reasons. I thinkhe's always worth celebrating.
Number one, he gets excited overthe smallest things. This little
dude is just full of gratitudeplants, interesting trash, a
spork, a fire extinguisher, aRubik's Cube. He likes to sort
things into his little buckets, which you would like and so like
the spork can't go into the forkor the spoon cup. And so he puts

(33:55):
it like in the middle. Oh mygosh, so precious, precious. I
mean, he just he just lives forthe the little the little bits
of excitement. And that's one ofthe reasons enough. He's just so
pure. Yes. Number two. He'scurious in the most adorable
way. Like he doesn't know whatit is as he's cleaning it up.
But he's like, that looksinteresting. So he puts it in

(34:16):
his little compartment. And he'sgonna take it back to his little
house. And you know, it's justso stinking cute. It's just just
precious. Number three, he canliterally save us from
ourselves. And he does righthuman beings are just wretched
trash monsters. Yeah. Have youbeen to the movie theaters man?
Oh, my gosh. People are justdisgusting. People are genuinely

(34:40):
disgusting. Yep. Wally, literally can save us from
ourselves. And I think that'sjust so perfect that somebody
this pure can solve ourtrashiness here His level of
emotion. This is number four, that he can show with his eyes

(35:03):
and his little track wheels. Ohmy gosh, it's too much. And it's
the same way in the game. When Iexplained to him like what a
toaster is, or like, you know, what clothes are things like
that he just gets so excited.
And this week, he's really beeninto flower baskets. He asked me

(35:24):
for one every day, that

Chris (35:25):
scene at the end where he's, like, totally rebooted and
you think he's not gonna comeback? And then you can like
there's nothing there's no lifebehind those lies. And then
suddenly, there is

Kelli (35:38):
and so number one reason that I love Wally. He loves
musicals. I mean, I think itsays a lot about a person,
whether or not they lovemusicals. And I think it shows
his true heart and

Chris (35:55):
not just that he desperately wanted Eve to see
the musical until I get it.
Right he started dancing it forher sweet he really is. is maybe
the most perfect Disney Pixarhe's definitely the most perfect
Pixar with my

Kelli (36:13):
whole heart I love this robot so much

Chris (36:17):
I may just watch that dancing scene in Spanish.

Kelli (36:21):
I almost cried earlier when I was putting my segments
so

Chris (36:24):
yeah they should they should make Wally much more
accessible in the parks. Theonly time I ever really hear of
him coming out a they do theybring him out for those cast
member nights when they'recelebrating the cast

Kelli (36:36):
new little this water and land and all that feature or

Chris (36:39):
they could they could put him in the area with it
Hollywood Studios whetherthey're going to have more Pixar
characters to meet or like youknow an April for Earth Day make
Wally put him in Tomorrowlandall the time. Yep, I'm for that
man. He's he is he's adorbs

Kelli (36:57):
You haven't even seen him in dreamlike Valley.

Chris (36:59):
Are you showing him to me but I don't get to see him all
the time. And like you said He'spure. Folks. That's it. Speaking
of pure and sweet and precious, that's all for this week's show.
