Kelli (00:01):
Super, super, whatever the internal thing is.

Chris (00:06):
This is the Supercalifragilistic awesome
Disney Podcast where each weekwe discuss, you guessed it,
Disney things you

Kelli (00:13):
know, things you don't know and things you didn't know
you needed to know. Well,

Chris (00:17):
as Walt would say, the way to get started is to quit
talking and begin doing oh wait, wait,

Kelli (00:22):
I can do this. Please didn't clear up the doors poor
football mantenga c'est la horade la Deus.

Chris (00:28):
Welcome aboard Disney fam Hello out there Disney fam.
Welcome to the show. My name isChris and I'm Kelly. We are so
glad to have you here on ourlittle podcast Kelly. You're
wearing Mickey sourcerer earstonight not the hat the
headband,

Kelli (00:46):
the headband some of your favorites. I think these these
are easily in the top threeyears for me maybe in the top
two because of comfortabilitymobility and just total overall
adorableness are pretty Dorbzyou know, minus the bow all that
and also, you know, has nothingto do with my segment, but I am
feeling very magical in myabilities to troll he who must

(01:06):
not be named. So, hey, honey, did anybody listen to us this
week?

Chris (01:11):
A couple people did. We had downloads from Augusta,
Georgia where a month ago theyjust hosted the Masters
tournament and Georgia. They gotdone with that decided to listen
to us. I mean, nach was clearlyin the top two things of in
Augusta and things to do inAugusta worse. Allison Park,

(01:31):
Pennsylvania, it's a littlesuburb of Pittsburgh.

Kelli (01:34):
That sounds adorable.

Chris (01:34):
That sound Allison Park is just beautiful. And it's
really really nice. 8000 finefolks outside of Flint, Michigan
in a town called Grand Blanc,Michigan grant

Kelli (01:45):
Bullock. Like I got like this fancy pen.

Chris (01:49):
I mean, I don't know if they call it maybe they call it
Grand Blanc I don't know. It'sspelt like the French Blanc

Kelli (01:54):
and then a fancy pen.
Blanc Montmarte. Bates penMichigan,

Chris (02:04):
my guys since 1000 of them so it's fine. Lassie, and
Taipei City Taipei? Yes, that'sfine. They are, which is so
appropriate now and not justhere. Think about what my
segment is on your segments onTaipei. So no, my segment is on

(02:28):
Asian American and PacificIslander Heritage Month. Now how
perfect. Did you pick? I did notintentionally pick them because
of this week. That's fantastic.

Kelli (02:37):
So good. It's good. You did? You did that. You did that
unconscious unconscious.

Chris (02:45):
Inside joke. So yeah, so you want to talk about the news
and ubiquitous, never ending?
Just Santos drama.

Kelli (02:57):
He must not be named.
We're calling him he he mustknow.

Chris (03:00):
I didn't know that was a rule. So I just started it. I

Kelli (03:02):
started while I was working on my segments. Okay.

Chris (03:05):
Well, so yes, he who must not be named, has officially
signed the bill to nullify theReedy Creek development
agreement with Disney. This isgonna get challenged in court
because it requires a law totake effect at a previous point
in time, which is known as expost post facto.

Kelli (03:22):
Post stating a check. So yes, it's can't do that.

Chris (03:27):
So yeah, so he signed it, it'll get challenged, and that
will get challenged with adifferent lawsuit than the one
that Disney has brought forth infederal court.

Kelli (03:35):
I just wonder if the people of Florida want him to do
actual legislation or if they'reokay with him spending all of
his time on just a whole

Chris (03:42):
bunch of time campaigning for president without actually
campaigning for president andthen when he's not doing that,
just signing bills that attackDisney

Kelli (03:48):
and just being openly scared of LGBTQ community.

Chris (03:52):
Yeah, while they're while their insurance home insurance
rates triple, right. Yeah, youknow, I just wonder

Kelli (03:58):
if we're gonna do an actual job, or if they're okay,
but the homophobic fearmongering that's happening. I
mean, just,

Chris (04:06):
just just asking questions, asking questions.
That's

Kelli (04:09):
good question that

Chris (04:11):
the oversight board, the new oversight board was
officially served their federalcourt summons, which somehow
surprised one of the boardmembers, Ron Perry. This is the
guy who although he denies itand says the media took this out
of context. He's the guy thatsaid that drinking tap water
makes you gay.

Kelli (04:31):
So you know, how far out of context did they take how

Chris (04:34):
far out of context because they have taken that
right. And what exactly

Kelli (04:38):
was the context in which that made sense? So

Chris (04:43):
Ron says that he is just shocked by the fact that Disney
would sue you. Just gone away.
He loves Magic Kingdom things iswonderful. A lot of they do a
lot of positive things thereloves take his kids there. Yeah,
Is he is he has this guy isapparently a successful
businessman for 40 years andthen was a pastor for 10.

Kelli (05:04):
But has he attended any of the board meetings? Yes, he

Chris (05:07):
has. He has been right there awake, it appears that he
voted in line with what you knowDeSantis wants and and then was
shocked when, when they did likethat and thought, Wow. You know,
he's like I didn't need thisstress in my life.

Kelli (05:25):
I just wanted to go to Disney. I

Chris (05:27):
thought I thought it meant free tickets, I guess.
Maybe

Kelli (05:31):
he sits across the table from that dude with the horse
beside him. And he's seen thepictures, blacks houses, just
looks, it just blacks out or soit just too much fun honestly
with it. I mean, it'sridiculous. But on some level,
it's

Chris (05:50):
also at least they're just playing around with
people's livelihoods though. Thestate legislature passed a bill
this week, we're gonna do this, this is what kills me is all
these bills all these Disneyrelated bills that they're,
they're whipping right up hereand send it over to you know,

(06:10):
Ronnie's desk. This newlegislation gives the state the
power to oversee. And here's thequote, this is specific to the
monorails. But here's the quote, any privately owned fixed
guideway transportation systemsoperating in this state, which

(06:30):
are located within anindependent special district
created by local AG, which haveboundaries within two contiguous
counties, that's who this law isdirected at. And as the the
common Terry, that we read fromthe Palm Beach Post this morning
said, that is 29 words that meanWalt Disney World. So for the

(06:54):
love of what it means is thatthe they have turned they have
forced Disney to turn thecontrol of monorails in the
Disney property over to thestate. So the state can now shut
the monorails down in order todo inspections on the elevated
railways. No word on how longthese shutdowns would take but

(07:17):
clearly that is a way that inany, you know, sort of bad
moment for the gov. We can justshut down. We can shut down the
leading transportation systembetween the Magic Kingdom and
Epcot.

Kelli (07:32):
That'll make all of your tourists happy. Make your
resident real thrilled. That'sgonna make people so happy. I
mean, what a great decision youidiot. So another thing that
might I'm sorry, did Iaccidentally call him an idiot
out loud? You did. That was adifferent adjective there. So
let's just congratulate me.

Chris (07:54):
Congratulations. Yeah.
So, you know, just again, sopetty and not at all.

Kelli (08:03):
Just totally missing what the people want. Like,

Chris (08:08):
um, Okay, so moving on to the Magic Kingdom. Yes, we're
evacuated from the Liberty Bellriverboat yesterday. Oh, it
broke down. Wow. Okay, so what'syour question about that?

Kelli (08:22):
Did they spill oil into the river as well? All of the
fish? I mean, all of the littleduckies I

Chris (08:28):
don't think that's what happened. My question was,

Kelli (08:31):
how do you evacuate the river boat? Because it is in
fact on a river it's a well it'snot

Chris (08:37):
a body of water. Yeah.
But it turns out they broughtthe Tom Sawyer rapids over
people walked right off the boatonto the raft so

Kelli (08:45):
obviously I would have paid money to see that well, you
can you don't have to pay a dimeraft boats were still
functional. Yeah, they carrywhat like 10 people but

Chris (08:54):
yeah, that's what they did. Wow. I mean, I pay money.
You can go on Twitter. There'spictures.

Kelli (08:59):
I guess every you know situation every ride like that
has to have a way to evacuateand that's the evacuation

Chris (09:06):
evacuation method. They just

Kelli (09:09):
redid the riverboat and so I feel like it shouldn't
really be breaking down justyet. It's fair.

Chris (09:13):
I think that's a fair criticism. Okay. You're, you're
gonna be excited about this.
Okay. Leigh RASSMAN is the newband that will be playing on the
stage in Canada at Epcot, LeighLeigh Leigh RASSMAN.

Kelli (09:30):
rafts Minh. Oh, Ra FTS ma N me and yeah, then multiple
men. Okay. Lay rafts really?
RASSMAN Yeah, what is theirgenre? They are.

Chris (09:44):
They come from the French Canadian portion of Ontario in
Canada. Okay. They describetheir music as a clever mix of
traditional French Canadiansongs, original compositions and
fiddle reels. We like fiddles Iam for fiddles guests can expect
traditional songs with a twistand even some call and response

(10:07):
songs during their sets whichtake place from 2pm to 7pm. At
the Canada middle stage alongthe World Showcase promenade,

Kelli (10:14):
is this band previously known as off kilter? No, I'm
against it.

Chris (10:18):
No you know I you know I catch a lot of grief for like
worrying about Who Moved MyCheese and change and all that

Kelli (10:25):
you're talking about those blasted bears again, and
that's not what we're talkingabout here. I'm talking about an
actual good band.

Chris (10:32):
Listen, all. Listen, I was with you. I was having fun.

Kelli (10:36):
You said you're talking about those black bears. There's

Chris (10:39):
nothing wrong with those beggars.

Kelli (10:40):
I'm just saying honey, like they've got mold on their
outfits. They do not. They'refurries all matted downs. They
look like they look like showbizbefore showbiz went out of
business.

Chris (10:54):
Nobody's gonna know what showbiz is.

Kelli (10:58):
They look like Bobo showbiz to cheese bought it and
re fluffed everybody. Look,

Chris (11:05):
all I'm saying is Les RASSMAN. Somehow we got beating
up the Country Bears becausefavorite pastime. Les RASSMAN is
taking over that stage and Ithink this is has potential I
think it's got potential. I will

Kelli (11:18):
go and see their show and then we will see. Okay, for how
I will keep ace Watson open mindbut a mind that is slightly
ajar.

Chris (11:29):
Okay, at least you could do it. Bob Weiss, legendary
Imagineer received his honorarywindow at Hollywood Studios this
week. He was instrumental inbringing Hollywood studios to
life back in the 80s. And hiswindow can be found near the
Hollywood and Vine restaurant isactually right above the
Hollywood and Vine restaurantthere you

Kelli (11:48):
see the man that makes the windows Did you watch that?
Oh, no. Oh my goodness. It'samazing. Like he's using actual
gold leaf and like a makeupbrush to make those things. I
mean, it is straight legit. Oh,wow. And that cool. And I
thought what are they going todo when he gets really cool out
to be 150

Chris (12:08):
Hopefully he's got himself an apprentice. It

Kelli (12:11):
was amazing. I mean, it was truly an amazing thing to
watch him do that.

Chris (12:17):
It's a cool thing that they do for Disney legends. So
that's a really cool like, absolutely. You know, Hollywood
star type thing there rightthere in the parks for sure.
Let's see here. Mantis can beseen for a limited time at
Avengers campus at Disneylandwhich is cool. And she looks
great.

Kelli (12:36):
I mean, does she have like contacts that my girl is
all black? Oh, that's good. Ican't have regular I don't

Chris (12:42):
know that's a good question. She's got her antenna.
That's a cute Yeah, she looksgood. She looks she's a better
Mantis than Chris Pratt of thatthen Star Lord is Star Lord. We
are those years. A mantis just amatter of time. No matter how
much you right now. It's

Kelli (12:56):
not a good Star Lord.

Chris (12:57):
He's not a good Star Lord Gamora is good. Mantis is
fantastic. And speaking ofwhich, Guardians Galaxy kicked
off this weekend, no spoilershere but it brought in $282
million globally 114 In the USofficially kicking off the
summer movie season.

Kelli (13:15):
So and it was good.

Chris (13:17):
It was good. It was so good.

Kelli (13:19):
I mean one to 10 What did you give it

Chris (13:22):
13

Kelli (13:23):
I was gonna say 11 Okay, but I mean definitely good. It
was it was everything you wantit to be and more as per use the
Guardians ago. Fantastic. Anddon't pay attention to any of
the horrible stuff people aresaying on Twitter. Just go and
enjoy the movie because it'sgreat. It's

Chris (13:39):
great. POM Clemente of I guess I'm not sure hopefully I'm
saying her name right. She playsMantis

Kelli (13:46):
I thought you said chlamydia

Chris (13:56):
off the rails

Kelli (14:00):
long week

Chris (14:03):
what is wrong with the off the rails

Kelli (14:08):
slapped regulator that I've managed to gather up to
tell you why I was about I

Chris (14:15):
thought I had like insulted her name by saying it
slightly off. But now I'm nevergonna be able to hear anything
but POM committee so awful. Sheearly in the making this James
Gunn actually got fired. Butthey she and Karen Gillan, who
plays nebula had a had a script.
So they read the script togetherat Karen Guillen's house. And

(14:39):
you know, and then she POM waslike, we had to get we had to
hide the script so nobody cansee it. Because you know,
they're super secretive withMarvel, right? She's like, Let's
bury it in your garden. That'sexactly what Karen Gillan was
responsible. She was like Wecould just put it in the

(15:00):
cupboard she's like, she's likethat's a big problem I've got
I'm like a squirrel. I hadthings I don't remember where I
had this like you gotta have thebody. The body. Are you ready
for Tomorrowland? move on fromthat committee a moment. Okay,
look. So as part of Disney'sreimagined tomorrow rising

(15:24):
Together campaign, on May 1,they launched their celebration
of the Asian American PacificIslander Heritage Month which is
awesome. You'll see engagementin so many ways from the Disney
network of media outlets themepark offerings, resorts
everywhere from the Disney sorryI found I'm off the rails now.

(15:46):
So Disney announced what theywere doing here in this this
campaign. And I found thisparticular comment super
relevant. They said we are allgreater than a single story and
we all deserve to feel seenheard and understood. Not only
during heritage months but yearround and I loved that

(16:10):
sentiment. So this month Disneyplus Disney Channel freeform Nat
Geo, you'll be able toexperience and may even be
introduced to wonders of theAAPI culture that maybe you
weren't aware of previously, that'd be great. But it's gonna
surprise absolutely nobody thathere we focused a celebration
around the food the culinaryteams at Disney are have done an

(16:34):
amazing job. And they they'vegot a program called World of
voices which is what they sortof center their culinary
adventures through so here wego. All right with the food now
I'm not going over everythingand I'm focused on Walt Disney
World there's there's someDisney Land stuff also. And I'm

(16:56):
going to focus on some thingsthat I think just were really
interesting to me and thingsthat are only available during
this heritage month.

Kelli (17:05):
I mean, I will say I thought the menu was large is
huge.

Chris (17:11):
So I wouldn't be able to get through all of it. But a lot
of the stuff is things that arethat are always there. Right and
so I'm going to focus on somethings that are just may in the
month of May and you know alsothat I just found interesting so
starting out the poly coursethat's a great place to start
this adventure at the pineappleand I you can get the heart of

(17:31):
defeat the dough whip cup. Okay, this is dough whip mochi cake
Mallanna inspired whitechocolate medallion and an

nuts have it? Yeah, this dish isinspired by how Pia and the name
celebrates malanez ambition topreserve her culture and
tradition. Ah, yep. At otherDisney resort hotels and I mean

they just call them eitherpastry chef, so and so and so or

would also be wonderful Asianoptions to try. In this case
we're going to go over to Chinato the garden house where they
have the Ozeki pineapple nigoriSaki. Now this might be this

(23:03):
actually might be in Japan. Thepineapple nigori honors the
Japanese settlers who came tothe United States and worked on
pineapple farms. The firstJapanese community in Florida
the Yamato colony grew up aroundthe pineapple field. So that's
why they are offering Ozekipineapple nigori and monkey

facts and you know I'm gonna goahead and call it 15 Things he
who must not be named does notknow about the monorail okay,
but first let's start with somecodes that he also doesn't know
Okay, now you and I have learnedcode v s have so many others on

(26:29):
a monorail ride and this is alsosometimes called a protein spill
don't take a sip of your drinkwhat I'm starting with sometimes
called a protein spill. Yes.
Okay code V we've heard of acode V cast members did handle

(26:49):
it very well

Chris (26:49):
yes yes. The doors opened right up into just immediately
postcode v COVID-19. spill

Kelli (26:55):
or teen spill. There's also a code P which you know, I
thought could be like poo butit's not and I don't mean like
the bear I mean like the othertime I know we get it we get
Okay, okay, but it's actuallyit's P

Chris (27:09):
Yeah, it is that's actually what I thought it was.

Kelli (27:12):
Which I guess apparently also happens on the regular
that's worrisome so you got codeV and you've got code P code 101
means that something is downlike a ride transportation these
things are not just used on themonorail These are used around
the park but but often are saidon the monorail and you can hear
them over the speaker so thingsyou should know Right? Code one

(27:33):
on one means a ride is down atDisney we don't use the word
broken. Broken. I sighs thatit's unfixable. I see, right?
It's down. That's code one onone code. 102 means it's back
up. Okay, so it's a one on oneand one or two. That's it. All
right, the next code that youreally need to know and there's
more than these but I'm justfocusing on the ones that have
happened on the monorail is yourwhite powder alert. Now the

(27:58):
white powder alert is whensomebody decides to spread
ashes. Oh, we have a dead lovedone. Now this happens most often
on Disney's haunted mansion.
Okay, but it does happenregularly throughout the parks
in play in people's favoriteareas. Okay, this is going to be
your white powder alert. Theysay unfortunately like don't do
it because those things getquickly vacuumed

Chris (28:20):
away. Yes, your loved ones gonna end up in a vacuum
cleaner

Kelli (28:23):
but then you're in a Disney vacuum cleaner so is it's
not this magical I'm just sayingso if you're gonna ride the
monorail you need to know 101102VP and white powder Alecia All
right now let's get into the 15fun monorail facts that he who
must not be named knowsabsolutely nothing about right

(28:44):
so the first one is the monorailin California is actually an
attraction instead oftransportation Right? Like the
one at Disney World right nowyou have given us the history of
the monorail before so I willsay for those of you interested
the history of the monorail it'sfascinating. Go back and listen
that episode. It's probably overa year ago now. It was great did

(29:04):
fantastic job. I'm just focusingon some fun facts. Sure. Okay.
The monorail is fully electric.
There is 600 volts ofelectricity that run through the
bus bars on either side of theconcrete beam. That electricity
powers eight motors aboard eachmonorail train so a lot of
electricity going through there.

(29:25):
But this is clean green. Sure.
Right, right. There are 14.7miles of track. Oh, that's
almost half of that is the Epcotrail alone. Yeah,

Chris (29:35):
that I believe. Yeah.

Kelli (29:37):
The top speed is 40 miles per hour. We're on Fun Fact
number four here that is as fastas the drop on Splash Mountain.
Oh,

Chris (29:46):
no kidding.

Kelli (29:47):
Are you miles it's gotta be on the way to Epcot like on
the way to and from but still 40miles. Right. It should open the
crack the windows that well andthen you can have the white
powder alert, which could be anissue. Okay. Okay. Okay, the
pink and purple lines have beenretired. But currently we have
12 other trains running peach, teal, red coral, orange, gold,

(30:12):
yellow, lime green, blue, silverand black. Fun fact on Christmas
Eve and Christmas day Yes, theresort line Ryan's green, red,
silver and gold. Come on. Oh no,he's gonna screw that up. He
doesn't know crap about thecolors that they run on
Christmas. Jack Wagner the voiceof Disneyland is the original

(30:36):
voice of the monorail. But it iscurrently voiced by Tom Kane,
who guests will probablyrecognize as the voice of Yoda
in Star Wars The Clone Wars.

Chris (30:47):
Wow, how

Kelli (30:48):
about that fun. That's a fun one. Walt Disney World has
three backup diesel powertrains. Oh, and so they're used
when there's a power outage sothat Disney can continue to move
gas from here to there evenduring emergencies about that
again, he who must not be namedit go no crap about the backup
diesel powered versions. Theyactually use commercial grade

(31:13):
truck tires that helps propelthem forward up to that 40 miles
per hour top speed. There are 12load bearing tires, 52 steering
and guide tires and 60 nylonsafety wheels per monorail.
That's 124 altogether. That's124 chances for him to screw

(31:36):
that up. Yep, yep. Right. Okay.
Since the monorail beganoperation, it has made the
equivalent of more than 17 tripsto the moon. What I know. Is
that crazy wild that's crazy.
And think about how well it hasdone that. Yes. Any Florida

(31:59):
government oversight has done ashockingly enough

Chris (32:03):
it's done pretty well.
It's done a really great job.
And you know, and I've in thefew times that something bad has
happened and I think they've hadI think they've had one fatality
you know, they've they'vehandled it pretty well.

Kelli (32:18):
Yeah. Okay, so here's our last five. Each monorail train
is 203 feet long. If you were tostring all of the monorails into
end, they would stretch out tomore than seven and a half
football fields.

Chris (32:35):
How about that? Crazy is wild. I know it's carrying a lot
of people man, it is so muchmore than he can handle. We just
I don't think he's personallygoing to be doing the
inspection. Well,

Kelli (32:45):
he's gonna you know, he's gonna appoint somebody that
doesn't even know the personsitting next to him has horrible
bang. Like he's gonna appointsomebody that's like, I love
Disney. Why did I get sued? He'sgonna appoint some imbecile.
Right. Okay. Each monorail canaccommodate up to 360 guests,

(33:06):
which breaks down to 60 peopleper car. I want you to think
about that for a second. That'sthat's, that's a lot of people.
That's pretty tight quarters inthat in that area. And it says
that's on a busy day. Of course.
It does, however, transferroughly 50 million guests each
year on the monorail about that.

(33:30):
And that is more than two and ahalf times the entire population
of Florida.

Chris (33:36):
Interesting that there would be even be that many
people to transport. Right?

Kelli (33:41):
And if you can't manage to serve the people of Florida
How are you going to serve these50 million guests on this
transport and that's just on themonorail again, Disney has tons
of other transportation options.

Chris (33:51):
The point is probably to just I'm just gonna schedule

Kelli (33:56):
me while I troll the heck out of him for this next three
things for each train has atowing knuckle on both ends. So
again, in the event of a poweroutage, one of three diesel
towing tractors can rescue astranded train. The three towing
tractors can pull three trainssimultaneously to the monorail
shop located behind spades beltin for maintenance again, we've

(34:18):
got systems in place. We don'tneed you and your homophobic
self to come and try to get yournose in these monorail systems.
We've we've got a plan. Do youthink he just wants to sit up
front? No, because if he could,he could still go do that in
Disneyland. They still allow itthere does not allow it anymore
at Walt Disney World. Themonorail conductors are called

(34:41):
pilots. There is also a castmember station as a central
coordinator which oversees allmonorail operations. That cast
member is called monorail one.
That's a good sign. It's

Chris (34:55):
a cool title. That's monorail one coming into right
contemporary.

Kelli (34:59):
Is that going to be Have you that fear mongering
homophobe? You're not gonna becalled monorail one used

Chris (35:05):
to be called Monroe one.
But that's like their airtraffic controller for the
monorail. Yes. Okay,

Kelli (35:09):
Monroe one. Okay. As of 2013 the Walt Disney World
monorail system. So this is 10years ago. This is 10 years ago.
Okay, so perspective averaged150,000 passengers per day
that's gone up. Wow, that'sgonna Okay. But at that time, it

(35:30):
was the second busiest monorailin the world. It is surpassed
only by a system serving ashopping center in Kanji King
China, which serves over 500,000passengers per day. On one line
alone. This is the secondlargest monorail system in the

(35:55):
world. Yep. We don't need you.

Chris (35:59):
And that has been operating for 50 years. damn
near perfect, right.

Kelli (36:04):
We don't need you and your fear mongering homophobic
self sticking legislatures thatdon't know crap about
transportation. With their nosesup these tires and electric
system. We don't need it he whomust not be named. So I'm just
gonna go full blatant trolling.
And say nobody Disney likes you.

Chris (36:28):
And you've probably got chlamydia. I'm just kidding
don't I didn't mean to say thatin my head.

Kelli (36:37):
Probably was so glad that we have no sponsors, because
they would have

Chris (36:45):
we just lost them all.
And I think we might havesecured our chances of ever
getting any Hey folks, hope youenjoyed today's episode. We did.
