Disney
Kelli (00:13):
things you know, things
you don't know, and things you
didn't know you needed to know.
Chris (00:16):
Well, as Walt would say,
the way to get started is to
quit talking and begin doing oh,by
Kelli (00:21):
the way, I can do this.
Okay. Please stand clear of thedoors. Poor football man. Thank
God say Alejandro de Les Paul.
Chris (00:28):
Welcome aboard Disney

Chris (00:37):
Don't know how today is
gonna go because she's in the
mood, Joe. So,
Kelli (00:40):
but I fired up.
Chris (00:41):
I've got I've got high
hopes for this episode, she's
got her poor ears on which don'treally jive with the energy
she's bringing. But it's theircutie
Kelli (00:53):
has great energy. What do
you mean don't jive with my
energy?
Chris (00:56):
It's all about your
energy.
Kelli (00:58):
That's lovely. positive,
happy energy. Exactly. And
that's what I'm bringing. I'mbringing lovely positive happy
energy to the pod
Chris (01:06):
today or aggressive
energy but okay, we'll see how
it works out. My
Kelli (01:10):
poor ears are I'm gonna
call them mildly adjacent. Like
they led me to my topic, butthey're not technically about
the topic.
Chris (01:17):
original topic was about
poo stuff. And then you're going
down that road, and then youdiverged from that road and led
you somewhere else. BecauseBecause of and so we're still
honoring.
Kelli (01:27):
We're still wearing
yours. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's
great. I don't have any beautyin the beast ears, which will
really be more like what I'mtalking about.
Chris (01:36):
That's an interest. I
wouldn't have thought. I would
rather talk about where we haddownloads from
Kelli (01:41):
Oh my goodness. What a
lovely segue. Honey, where did
they download from? Novi,
Chris (01:48):
Michigan, LV Novi and Ovi
Michigan. I hope I'm saying that
right. This is a suburb about 25miles northwest of Detroit,
known for the 12 oaks mall isn'tone of the largest malls in
Michigan and an 80 stores.
Diverse stores high end
Kelli (02:06):
Is that why you had a
dream about a mall last night?
Chris (02:08):
Maybe? Maybe? I was in a
mall last night in my dream. I
had a whole bunch of stores.
Okay, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Okay, cute little town. 35 milesnorth of Pittsburgh, once a
major manufacturer of railroadcars. Okay, interesting. world
needed needs those. We stillneed those frankly. Yeah.
(02:29):
Greenwich, Connecticut, namedafter the Greenwich at named
after Greenwich, a Royal Boroughof London in the UK. And very
affluent town Greenwich,Connecticut, home to many hedge
fund and financial servicesfirms. Wow. Okay. They couldn't
get to New York City. Prettyquick on the train there. Okay,
Kelli (02:49):
that's interesting. All
right.
Chris (02:51):
This is an interesting
one. Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
Oh, Sonora, Mexico is in the inthe sort of extreme northwest
portion of the country. Notterribly far from the US border.
There's a long story around thiswe're not going to get into but
following the 1913 assassinationof the Mexican president. This
(03:14):
town played a big role and isnow known as the revolutionary
capital of
Kelli (03:20):
Mexico. Wow. Okay, well,
welcome.
Chris (03:23):
Thank you for bringing
some energy.
Kelli (03:24):
I mean, I will I will
absolutely do a live show there.
I would love to visit therevolutionary capital of Mexico.
Just let us know.
Chris (03:33):
I bet you would. All
right, you want to roll
Kelli (03:38):
down Main Street? Yes.
The news.
Chris (03:41):
Hey, happy Pride Month
Happy Pride Month to also
celebrate and we certainly did.
We We love all and love is loveloves Disney is also celebrating
Pride Month by bringing back inone of numerous ways they're
bringing they're celebrating butone way is they're bringing back
those photo walls who rememberthe love and rainbow photo walls
(04:02):
that they that they had I thinklast year for those are back in
all the parks. So there'sthere's at least one in every
major Park disney world whereyou can go and take photos in
front of the
Kelli (04:17):
pride walls. Okay. Are
they donating money from their
merch to anybody?
Chris (04:21):
I did not get that far
this while I saw was the pride
walls. I didn't read about themerch.
Kelli (04:27):
They're making donations.
They really should just come upwith a shirt. This is we say
gay. Mickey Mouse ears.
Chris (04:36):
If you don't find that
somewhere, I think that's gonna
be part of our merch.
Kelli (04:43):
Great, right. Sure. For
sure. Good.
Chris (04:47):
Because we do. Yeah. So
the DVC lounge at Epcot. Is is
shutting down temporarily. Forrefurb I think mainly their
their rooms like seeing theelevator that's there wow which
we didn't we never experiencedthe thrill of that elevator ride
I don't know if it's somethingwas terribly wrong with it if it
(05:09):
fell the one story and I don'tknow
Kelli (05:12):
right yeah replacing on
elevator putting in like you
know a bar that they shouldsmall kitchen with appetizers
they should
Chris (05:20):
absolutely what they
should be doing or seating it
could use more seating a bitmore seating a little more
comfortable seating
Kelli (05:25):
and yeah, yeah, but I'm
not complaining. It was raining.
I had blisters everywhere.
Everywhere. Yep. And that sweetperson, that cast member must
have brought me a multitude ofbeverages.
Chris (05:39):
She did. Did you get some
band aids?
Kelli (05:42):
You bought me band aids.
Chris (05:43):
Oh, that's right. I
bought you today they were they
just they're easy to find likeright there.
Kelli (05:51):
You ask some cast members
for help. And they directed you
appropriately.
Chris (05:55):
Just wanted to make sure
you got spammed
Kelli (05:57):
I've given you I'm not
giving anybody else credit for
the band aid purchase. I was ina bad way. And so I'm just
saying I'm not complaining aboutthe DVC lounge. I thought it was
fantastic. But if we're going totake the time to refurb it we
can do a little bit more thingsto just the elevator. You can
add more seating, I think wecould add in a bar area. You
know, just some appetizers.
People walking around withtrays. Lovely.
Chris (06:27):
If you gotta ask for what
Kelli (06:29):
I mean, I'm just, we've
spent all in here. Just swivel.
Chris (06:35):
Well look. So as a DVC
member, though, you can still
experience a lounge at Epcot.
What they've done is they'vegone over to that Odyssey
pavilion area where they oftenhave like they'll they'll turn
it into a food booth for theFood Wine Festival, that sort of
thing. They've they'vepartitioned off part of it to
make it the DVC lounge in themeantime while the one has been
(06:57):
over it imagination for the MSP.
refurbed Okay, yeah, not forthat. Is
Kelli (07:05):
there a bar
Chris (07:10):
people walking around
with
Kelli (07:12):
trays like that was
supposed to it's
Chris (07:17):
a lot closer to the first
date. I'll tell you that.
Kelli (07:23):
Valid valid. I'm a
frequent flyer there
Chris (07:27):
it is right beside the
first aid. So you know, seems
like a good spot to
Kelli (07:32):
only give you two Advil
or two Tylenol they'll also give
you a cotton delay on they willnot give you for I passed that's
fine for the one time and theywould not give me four of either
which I thought was a bitstingy. But then when I did sort
of pass out there in the lobbythey did offer me a bid they did
(07:55):
they gave you gave you a littlecut? No, they offered me a bit
Chris (08:04):
which is probably the
most Disney thing ever. I'm
passing out in first aid. Theyoffered me a bed but no, we got
a fast we've got a fast pass.
Kelli (08:18):
And I was like if you
could just give me two more of
those Advil, like how muchlonger do I need to stay here to
get four of one just give me acouple more and I'm on my way me
too and to know what I'msupposed to do with that
Chris (08:35):
it doesn't tells you also
tells you how long it's been
since that happened since we'rewe had a fast pass I
Kelli (08:41):
mean it doesn't feel that
long does not really does but I
was I was really really sick.
And they they did what theycould for me there were other
sick people using beds and such.
Apparently a bed opened up whileI was a bit surpassing out and
so they woke me up and said manwould you like a bed and I
looked at my watch and I saidnope
Chris (09:05):
probably not the first
so someone that goes by at five
Bell fi on Twitter leaked outsome more concept art for the
tropical Americas pavilion thatthey're they're replacing the
(09:26):
whole Dinah land area with thistropical Americas. Right and
we've seen some concept artbefore that like maybe it was
going to be in Kanto themedmaybe Indiana Jones themed, both
possibly. And so this isbasically looks like some of the
same concept art but just from adifferent vantage point, okay?
(09:48):
Like say looking full on in theface that casita right and you
can see casita in the conceptart that was officially
released. but this is likeground level looking flush at
Casita, right I mean, I can'thelp but think, obviously this
is this is speculation and rumorand right and leaked are too but
(10:09):
I mean, I mean, I hope thatperson's gonna get their
Kelli (10:16):
job while they were
there.
Chris (10:18):
I don't know that this
person works there but whoever
might have leaked it, yeah, Ijust am. I'm gonna go ahead and
start letting myself believethat we're gonna get a casita.
Kelli (10:28):
Right. I think I think
that's safe.
Chris (10:30):
I've just cannot. I feel
like it is a walk through
attraction, you know, like, thenew Mallanna thing or or the
Swiss Family it could be houseor both a walkthrough saying
with a restaurant ashtag couldbe both. We get some empanadas
that make you feel better.
Kelli (10:51):
Those are on iPads.
iPads.
Chris (10:53):
Yeah, sorry. Yeah, there.
Yeah. Okay, so. So yeah, andthen and then there was also
same thing ground level of likean entryway that looks like it
would be to an Indiana Jonestype themed area.
Kelli (11:09):
Where did Indy go in his
movies? Did America did he go to
Chris (11:16):
a spend some time in the
tropical Americas?
Kelli (11:19):
Did he because I thought
he was in like Africa.
Chris (11:23):
And for the first movie.
He was okay.
Kelli (11:26):
And the second movie was
in India. Okay. Also not
tropical Americas
Chris (11:31):
but in the Kingdom of the
Crystal Skull he was in? I think
South America. Maybe CentralAmerica.
Kelli (11:36):
You think maybe South
maybe Central? Don't know. Not
sure. Yeah. Pretty sure that itwas there
Chris (11:41):
was that area for Kingdom
of the Crystal Skull and then
the dial of destiny? I'm tryingto remember and I can't sorry.
Okay.
Kelli (11:52):
All right. I just think
it's maybe a stretch to include
him and tropical America. It's
Chris (11:57):
okay. I mean, it's just
absolutely the worst movie.
Kelli (12:00):
Everybody on dreamlike
Valley says that the best place
from your bells house is in thisarea on eternity aisle where
there's a lot of bamboo shootsand stuff I think I don't think
I don't think there was bambooin in Kanto. I don't remember
that. But everybody's reallytrying to push for that. And I
haven't moved her yet because Ireally like because you are the
(12:21):
lead character in your ownstory. You got her in a good
spot and I like her there.
Chris (12:25):
Then forget those people,
honey. Yeah,
Kelli (12:27):
I mean, I'm just waiting
you do you Whatever. Don't be
swayed.
Chris (12:32):
Polly's tower,
officially, the new island tower
at Polynesian resort officiallyopens December the 12th. And
it's looks beautiful, very. Ifeel like it's very, it's very
Mallanna themed, but in a reallynice looking way. This is very
(12:52):
similar to a lot of the othervillas that we stayed at. One
nice thing is that the deluxestudios actually had
dishwashers. Oh, okay. Right. Soone of the things that they
really are pushing here is tothis is the first opportunity to
really incorporate some of thosesustainable technologies as they
hit towards their 2030 goal orbeing like carbon neutral or
(13:15):
whatever. Okay. So the theaddition of the dishwashers was
specifically intended to lessenthe amount of plastic, right,
we're not using more plasticforks and knives and things. But
what's really cool is that thethose these beautiful rugs that
are in the facility are madeprimarily from plastic bottles
(13:39):
that have been converted intoreally fine yarn.
Kelli (13:42):
I like that. I've seen
those before. Yeah, good good
Chris (13:45):
on them. And I cannot
wait to stay in this thing.
Yeah.
Kelli (13:49):
I love being members at
the poly or owners at the poly.
But it's their they don't havethe best DVC suites. Right. And
so now hopefully they will. Imean the the
Chris (14:01):
two and three bedroom the
penthouses look off the charts
beautiful. Yeah, yeah. Lastquick thing here. Bob Iger
received an honorary knighthoodfrom Prince William. So he is an
honorary night of the BritishEmpire.
Kelli (14:15):
What has he done for
Britain? Well, I'm
Chris (14:17):
glad you asked. He's got
it for services that that
continued to strengthen therelationship between the UK and
the US now he's not he's notallowed to. He's not a sir. You
can't be sir Bob Iger becausehe's not British. Right. He This
is an honorary knighthood. Very
Kelli (14:40):
doctorate shouldn't do
the work but we're gonna give
you the hood. Sure.
Chris (14:44):
He feels like he'd done
some work. But he is allowed to
like if he wants to sign hisname Bob Iger, comma kbe night
of the British Empire. I mean,it like that
Kelli (15:01):
that's not bad but I
think I would want people to
call me what are they? Whatwould they call me madam? Well
Chris (15:08):
if you were if he was the
sir if I was a sir if I got if I
got knighted I'd be a surgeonyou'd be a lady. If How do I get
to be do get knighted? Do youbecome a dame?
Kelli (15:21):
Oh, you're saying I'd be
a lady just by my relationship
to you. Okay, well, no, I wantto be my own identity the lead
character my own story. I wantto be the day
Chris (15:30):
anybody's ever seen
fool's gold by the way. That's
why we keep saying that. That's
Kelli (15:37):
cool, quote, random
movie.
Chris (15:39):
super random. But yes,
that's why Judi Dench is a day
she's Dame Judi Dench release.
Day Prue Leith Dame HelenMirren. I believe
Kelli (15:50):
she better be I mean, she
was the queen. She was the
actual queen.
Chris (15:55):
She wasn't an actual
queen. I'm gonna go talk about
my segment now which is theTomorrowland segment.
Kelli (16:04):
Okay, so I'm talking
about something that we haven't
done yet. Food.
Chris (16:08):
We have not eaten yet.
Okay. I'm doing your whole thingthat's happened to have it. So
how many years has it been sincethe original Lion King came out?
30 years, it has been 30 Bloodyyears
Kelli (16:25):
hard to say that. It is
hard. Hard to really remember
that. But
Chris (16:29):
30 years 1994 June of 94
was just
Kelli (16:34):
a baby. I was a baby
who's still a baby. Thank you so
sweet.
Chris (16:39):
is gonna be two years
younger than me. Right? It's
right. So they are celebratingthe 30th anniversary of the
release of The Lion King whichby the way, I can't even watch
these days. Yeah,
Kelli (16:52):
it's hard. fossa is
really hard to watch. It's hard.
Chris (16:57):
If you have not seen the
Lion King, spoilers. Spoilers
Mufasa. goes in like such aviolent,
Kelli (17:07):
very violent way. And
they make his infant son why oh,
so bad. It's brutal. It's verybrutally mean early childhood
trauma to the nth degree. And hedoes not get any kind of mental
health care for that.
Chris (17:19):
He really doesn't. So
they're celebrating the 30th
anniversary with a whole slateof new food items that you can
get at the animal kingdom andthey are off the charts. They
look amazing. So eight spoonsCafe which is already one of my
favorite places. They have thethey have the macaroni and
cheese things that are so goodthere.
Kelli (17:41):
Oh, okay. I know what
you're talking about. They put
some meat on the macaroni andcheese thing.
Chris (17:45):
Also, you can get it
without the meat
Kelli (17:48):
of it. You like it with
me? I do.
Chris (17:50):
I do. I definitely do.
They have a drink called theSimba. Okay, this is a mango
flavored slushie combined withgrenadine on top so it looks a
little bit layered there. Andit's topped with two gummies or
grubs.
Kelli (18:10):
Oh gosh. Okay. And
Chris (18:13):
then you hop over to the
aisle of Java. Okay. There you
can get Tim owns luau. Okay, that sounds fun. It is. By the
way you remember it's based onTim owns hula dance. He doesn't
do you remember it? Can you singit? Can you know the words? That
(18:33):
it
Kelli (18:35):
did? Did the word I
remember something in a tasty
treat.
Chris (18:43):
Ah yes. Are you hungry
for a hunk of meat
Kelli (18:47):
hunk of now they were
vegetarian see
Chris (18:50):
meat? No. Are you hungry
for a hunk of God? He was
talking to the hyenas. Okay. Doyou see me eat my buddy Pumbaa
here because he is a tree. Let'scome on down and die on a tasty
slide. All you got to do is getin line. Oh yeah. Aiken first.
Yup, yup. Yup. For some bacon.
Yep. Yep, yep, he's big pig.
Kelli (19:10):
Yep, yep. Yeah, give
Chris (19:11):
me a pig that's awesome.
So that is based off of hisHawaiian Get up right his hula
get up he was wearing. So thisis Timon flew out. It's a layer
dessert looks like a little tinytrifle with vanilla chiffon
cake, passion fruit curd, good.
Guava jam, vanilla, Chantillycream, and an edible tropical
(19:36):
flower for the lay. And I meantfor the hula skirt.
Kelli (19:38):
Oh, that's cute. It's
beautiful. Very cute. It's
Chris (19:41):
beautiful. You're cute.
Hop over to Tiffany's. We're bigfans of Tiffany's. And you can
have rific ease squash banana.
This is a shake blended withsquash, bananas, Baobab fruit,
vanilla, cinnamon and cardamom.
And it looks adorable. It lookslike little bananas. Shake looks
like a little Banana Shake, andthen they they make the little
(20:02):
Simba picture of Simba thatRafiki had on his tree you know,
Kelli (20:08):
when you share it since
you've shown me that this
morning I've wanted a milkshake.
Okay, so I'm probably gonna goget one we can
Chris (20:14):
make that happen. Okay.
Also at Tiffins you can get theremember who you are. Oh, this
is this is the this is the LionKing 30th anniversary dessert.
This is a Kenyan coffee moussefilled with caramelized bananas.
Hmm. I know. Chai Chantillycream. I know. Banana caramel
(20:39):
sauce, chocolate coffee crumblesand a chocolate medallion.
Listen,
Kelli (20:47):
you moose haters. I don't
know what the deal is.
Everybody's like their moosehaters. Yes, there are people
there like all the desserts whodoes do your moves. Because
they're good. And
Chris (20:58):
it's weird. They
Kelli (20:58):
all sound like me. That's
the voice I make for people who
are saying something thatdoesn't matter. That it's, it's
because people like Moose, and Ilove Chantilly. And so now
you've said move and you lovechai and Chai until you said
like three of my favorite words.
And coffee was in there. 10Coffee was in there and banana
and caramel. Like it's made foryou. I am excited about that. I
Chris (21:24):
am too. So then hop over
to Tammy Tammy refreshments and
you can get these Zazu Ice CreamSandwich. This is vanilla ice
cream that sits between twosugar cookies but the sugar
cookies are also dusted withlike this blue cake. So it's a
very modelled looking bluevanilla sugar cookie that
(21:46):
sandwiches. Vanilla ice cream init, of course has a Zazu
chocolate medallion on top.
Kelli (21:51):
Hmm, I thought it was
gonna be Zazie his colors. He's
blue. He's blue and yellow andred. It's
Chris (22:00):
okay. It's pretty close.
This is not too far off. Okay.
Gosh haraam Bay market, which wedon't do enough.
Kelli (22:10):
Every time. Every time
we're on that side of the park.
It's closed. If that's true.
We're either there early in themorning or late in the
afternoon. We're never there forthe 30 minutes. It's open at
lunch. It's so hard to get it toarrive.
Chris (22:25):
Well, they will have the
you follow order a few key. Okay
cheesecake. Oh, it says a saythis is a passion fruit mango
cheesecake. Yes. With a coconutlime crust of vanilla bean
Chantilly and a chocolatemedallion. Okay. Restaurant
(22:45):
Osiris will have the Shenzistrawberry lemonade Shenzi was
one of the three main hyenas inthe movie. And this is Mina made
lemonade. Minute made strawberrysmoothie with some blue curacao
syrup, and glow cube. Okay, thatsounds fun like a refreshing
drink. Then you got the rightfulruler cupcake. Also, this is
(23:09):
pizza farI it's not the rightfulruler though. It's it's all
around the car. No scar. So thisis a red velvet cake filled with
cookies and cream cheesecake onthe inside. Oh, I know. And then
chocolate icing. That looks likerocks. So like it looks like
standing on top of Yeah, it'sgot his medallion. He's standing
(23:31):
on top of this chocolate icing.
But he's made a little like,
Kelli (23:34):
grey rocks. Yeah. Okay,
gotcha.
Chris (23:38):
Then at trilobites you
can get and I'm not for floats.
I don't I'm not a big Shut upperson. Shut
Kelli (23:45):
up. Anyway. Zazu
Chris (23:47):
also has a Dole Whip line
and coconut float. So
Kelli (23:52):
you would like that it's
probably gonna be like key lime
situation.
Chris (23:57):
It's Dole Whip, lime.
It's lime Dole Whip, which I dofeel like I probably could get
into with it sitting in Spritewith coconut and Blue Curacao
syrup, then is topped with achocolate medallion.
Kelli (24:12):
I don't know. Yeah, I
love a float. But I do prefer
like a coke float or root beerfloat. Or that new creamsicle
thing from Sonic? No, like, Idon't want I don't want a lime
sprite float.
Chris (24:26):
I'm not okay for any of
them. Okay, so that's all the
stuff you can get from June.
Let's see what did I say? Oh, Iforgot. It's like June this like
now through September or someSeptember. The ninth I think is
when you don't
Kelli (24:43):
have to rush but really
the entire summer they're
celebrating 30 years of mindking with 30
Chris (24:47):
years of The Lion King
animal kingdom. Yeah. And I've
only got one minute left. Butthey're also celebrating the
launch this month of Tiana'sBayou adventure from June 28.
through September 6, you can geta few things at the Magic
Kingdom. They're doing this.
They've got some new things allover like at Disney Springs and
other places. But just at theMagic Kingdom at the Golden Oak
outpost, you're gonna be able toget hot honey chicken with sweet
(25:09):
potato fries. Yeah, chickennuggets tossing hot honey sauce,
sir with the New Orleans oliverelish engaged in spicy sweet
potato fries, shrimp gumbo souptena fries, or or or you ready
for it. Tiana's famous Pina islike sweet fluffy bun yeas eight
Kelli (25:30):
with a mint julep. She's
still in the mid July with
Tiana, Pinocchio's
Chris (25:38):
village Haus Disneyland
Kelli (25:41):
in New Orleans at
Disneyland she sells a mint
juleps I had it with my hauntedmansion cupcake because she was
selling those while we werethere. It's Tiana that I think
it was. You had to go somewhereto get the vignette days. And I
got the Mint Julep and theHaunted Mansion cupcake, which
was Red Velvet, because it'swhat it's like, I'll do a try. I
(26:03):
don't know. I don't know whyTiana was selling those. I'm
just saying she was making bankoff those mint juleps at
Disneyland.
Chris (26:13):
So there was more things
to talk about him.
Kelli (26:17):
But she was just printing
money. It wasn't New Orleans
wasn't Tiana. It was just NewOrleans Square. It was Tiana.
What do you like to Jana? Lether have cake
Chris (26:28):
was haunted mansion. That
was the audit. But
Kelli (26:31):
it's also in that square
area. I'm just telling you Tiana
was doing the mint juleps andthey were good. Could have been
a little bit larger. But theywere excellent. Jana was just
making bank. Go ahead. Start mysegment. I know you tried to cut
me off. So we're both goingback. 30 some odd years this
(26:54):
week. Okay. We are. So you didthe Lion King. So in I've got
World Showcase. And so I'm goingback to the early 90s When
Disney would release thosesingalong song VHS tapes. You
could still do the single Well,do you have did you have them?
(27:16):
Will be Jean had some of those?
Chris (27:18):
She had the VHS tapes of
the movies.
Kelli (27:22):
Okay, so this is the
beauty. Okay, this is the beauty
but also sort of the pain pointwas because you would have to
watch the whole movie to get tothe songs, right? There's no
skipping forward on DVDs or whathave you. Okay, so you would
have to watch the whole movie.
Well, if you bought the Singalong VHS, then it's just all
the songs back to back. But theywould mix and match. So wouldn't
(27:43):
be like here, all the beauty andthe beast songs here all the
frozen songs, right? So you'dhave a couple of this one and a
couple on that one. So you wouldwant to buy multiple VHS is to
have songs you liked? Well, sure. Okay. I had one in
particular, which I loved. Andwe're gonna get into that. Okay,
but I want to give you a littlebit of a backstory on these VHS
things. So they released thisseries beginning in 1986. And
(28:07):
the idea was that the words wereon the screen and Mickey Mouse's
head was the bouncing ball. Butnot all of them had bouncing
ball. Some of them the wordsjust lit up. There was early
releases, with footagecontaining Professor owl that's
who was on my VHS in his class.
(28:29):
Professor owl actually comesfrom to Disney shorts from 1953.
So Professor owl is old schooland they brought him back to do
professional hour while in thisclassroom. He was voiced by
Corey Burton. And he's hostingthe viewers with his class as
his assistance in some of thevideos. And you also have Jiminy
(28:50):
Cricket. So my video also hadJiminy Cricket as the host.
Okay, so you had the owl likeintroducing it, and then Jiminy
Cricket was the host. These weremade in us, Spain and Mexico,
Canada, UK, Australia, Japan,Argentina, Brazil, France,
Germany, and Italy, in all thosedifferent languages, and in some
case, different versions of thevideo in those languages. Okay,
(29:13):
so I've added a little bit offun here. So go ahead and play
that that blue button there.
This is our intro to thesingalong videos why do you
remember this? Because Jeandidn't have them we just sing
it.
Chris (29:35):
I didn't want you to say
it
Kelli (29:46):
now you at home with your
favorite is the song. He was
great. Every new one. You cansing along with your favorite
song no Let'sfind out before you're done
(30:09):
music Fun for Everyone
Chris (30:22):
Wow,
Kelli (30:22):
you don't you didn't know
that at all? No. Okay. Well, so
I had one particular video thatI loved and we're gonna get into
it. Okay, but I want to tell youhow some of these came out.
Okay, so the first one in 1986was a series, this launch in
October 1986 With zippity dooda. Now, this particular video
(30:45):
fairly quickly after 1986stopped, because Zubeida is
horribly racist. And it showsclips from the movie. So that
one's very difficult to findthese days, you can still get on
eBay, but it was zippity doo doccame out in 1986, then Heigh Ho,
the bare necessities you can flyvery merry Christmas songs and
(31:07):
then fun with music in 1989.
Okay, so again, these have veryclear character references and
the title, but it's mix andmatch on the song so it's not
like all Peter Pan songs orwhatever. The second series
began in May of 1990. Now theearly 90s is what Disney would
call the Renaissance age. That'sgoing to be your little mermaid
(31:27):
Pocahontas. Jasmine Beauty andthe Beast, right. So these were
supposedly the empowered womenthat we didn't see from the 50s
although I've mentioned theresearch before, and the
research shows that the women ofthe early 90s actually spoke
less in the Disney movies thanthe than the women from the 50s
and 60s, so we'll just put thataside. We're gonna put Disney
(31:48):
didn't quantify that properly.
But they did call this theirRenaissance era well during this
early 90s That's when you hadunder the sea. Disneyland fun. I
love to laugh Be our guestfriend like me in the 12 days of
Christmas or the Sing along.
This was the names of the VHS. Ihad the BR guest sing along
okay, which came out in 1992This went with me to college.
(32:11):
Wow. Yeah. And I remember Iwould just play it on repeat
over and over and over while Iwas studying because it was just
background music. And I couldsing along I knew all the songs.
Now you knew the intro. This ishow I knew the intro because
you're not fast forwardingthrough this in a VHS right you
(32:32):
just go straight into it. So onthe beat Be Our Guest release
you had Be Our Guest Bob's aspoonful of sugar Mary Poppins.
little wooden head by Pinocchio,Bella notae lady in the tramp
Heffalumps and Woozles Winniethe Pooh beauty in the beast,
the world's greatest criminalmind from the Great Mouse
(32:55):
Detective Once Upon a Dream andthen be chimp Chimp, chimp
shimmery Once Upon a Dream andthen be our guest the reprise.
Now, this is this is the reasonI'm wearing the Pooh ears today
is because of the songHeffalumps and Woozles. I did
not know where that came from itall. I had never heard that song
in my entire life. Until I gotthis VHS tape. I became c'est
(33:18):
with Heffalumps and Woozles.
That answers
Chris (33:25):
like such a question that
I've had for years.
Kelli (33:28):
Really? Yes. Which is
what's the question?
Chris (33:32):
Why the hell do you know
so much about heffalumps?
Kelli (33:36):
very confused souls have
sinned. Woozles very sly, sly.
It's like yeah, they come inones into souls. And if you so
chooses, yeah, you got no,right. So I was doing the POV on
the Winnie the Pooh greatadventure ride. And you go
through a section of Heffalumpsand Woozles. And every time I
(33:58):
hear that song, actually I getmad at the roommate who I know
stole this VHS tape when shemoved out. Okay, I know she
stole it and yes, I am bitterand I know her name. Okay. Very
aware of who this was. And I'mupset with her. But so I can
(34:22):
see. So but the Heffalumps andWoozles was my favorite song.
Okay. Then in the mid 90s, theycame out with Circle of Life
colors the when topsy turvywhich had hunchback songs Pongo
and Perdita honor to us allhappy, haunting party at
Disneyland and sing along withpoohbear and Piglet to Okay, now
(34:45):
then in March of 1999, theyactually re released the 14
videos in different collections.
So it was collection of all timefavorites, the early years
collection of all timefavorites. Magic years
collection of all timefavorites, the modern classics.
Okay, so they re released thosein the late 90s. So this is
(35:06):
about a 10 year span here, wherethis was hot. Yeah, right. This
was hot. They were buying, because you at that point, once
it goes into the vault, youcouldn't get it. Right. I forgot
all about the vault, the vault, there's no ordering this stuff
online. Okay, not in the 80s and90s. That's not what we did,
then people. And so whensomething went into the vault
couldn't get it, it was it wasout of your hands, you had no
(35:29):
chance of ever getting thatagain. Okay. So it was a big
deal. So then they launched somenewly remastered versions in the
early 2000s. and So sing alongwith Tigger on my way, little
patch of heaven. And then theylaunched Disney Princess sing
along volumes, one, two, andthree. Okay. Now, you may
(35:49):
wonder, why haven't we had anymore of these since, say
approximately 2006?
Chris (36:02):
Well, I mean, was that
would have predated streaming
like we have today. So YouTube
Kelli (36:06):
launched in 2005. And so
once YouTube launched couldn't
really stop, no, they launchedtheir own channel and post the
singalong songs there. Soinstead of creating videos, they
just go straight to YouTube withit, and they're getting the, the
likes, clicks, followssubscribes, etc. Now, here's the
(36:30):
problem with this plan. I'm finewith the plan, put them on
YouTube. Okay, but that's notwhere I found my intro song. I
had to really dig for that.
There are places online, wherepeople upload those entire VHS
tapes have to be illegal, but itlooks to me it came up in the
first page of Google search. Soit wasn't like on the dark web
or anything. Sure. Okay. But inany case, they have 158 videos
(36:53):
on their singalong channel. Andnone of them are the ones from
this one, right? Because theseare all older. Right? So they
don't have like Pocahontas.
They're still in Beauty andBeast. They have the new
(37:15):
Aladdin. They have the frozenthey have onward they have all
of the new zombies and HighSchool Musical and stuff like
that. They don't have theseolder ones on there, which I
think is ageist I would justlike to say and be bring them
back.
Chris (37:35):
Right? Bring them out of
the ball.
Kelli (37:37):
What's wrong with a good
Heffalumps and Woozles singalong
Nothing dear that's what I'msaying. So
Chris (37:44):
I wonder how they these
compared to the single there's a
whole section on Disney plus ofsingle on yes right
Kelli (37:50):
not on there there. No,
really? Yep, these older VHS
tapes are not on Disney plus, and they're not on their YouTube
channel. Well epic epic mythsthat's how my epic these things
are like in still really in thevault. actually still nobody's
nobody's broke my vault is emptyexcept for these videos bring
(38:12):
them back Disney plus bring themto Disney plus people and bring
the owl I won't bow with hisintro
Chris (38:23):
