But one side being the wheel ofthe ship. The other side. The
other ear is a life preserver.

Chris (01:20):
I got all kinds of notes
here. Grand Haven, Michigan.
We're gonna want to go to thisplace. Okay. It's on the eastern
shore of Lake Michigan. Knownfor its sandy beaches, a shop
and restaurant line boardwalkruns along the harbor to Grand
Haven State Park beach, and thesouth pier home to the 1839
(01:43):
Grand Haven lighthouse.
Kelli (01:45):
Wow, that sounds to Dorbz
Yes. Very,
Chris (01:48):
very cool thing they
seasonal Grand Haven musical
fountain features synchronizedlight and water shows.
Kelli (01:56):
Michigan is on the list.
Seriously, that is officially onthe list on the list? Yes.
Chris (02:01):
Ridley Park, Pennsylvania
population of 7002. Don't forget
those other two people. Ridleypark is home of Boeing's ch 47
Chinook helicopter division.
Kelli (02:15):
Really Park isn't that
that's in Chicago. Isn't that
where somebody plays baseball?
Chris (02:22):
Oh man, that is amazing.
Is Wrigley Wrigley. Like the godlike the gum. Exactly. It's
those those people differentthose are today. I'm shocked
today you knew that there was abaseball park in Chicago that
sounded similar to Ridley ParkWrigley Wrigley Wrigley. Wrigley
(02:42):
gum.
Kelli (02:45):
Is it sponsored by the
gum people?
Chris (02:47):
The gum, the gum people
the people who created the gum
are also I
Kelli (02:51):
did not know there was
that much money and gum. But
hey, that's a completedigression. I feel like you were
telling us where someone elselistened.
Chris (03:04):
Clermont, Florida less
than 30 minute drive from Disney
World. Claremont is a thrivingresidential community that
serves Disney cast members andvisitors alike
Kelli (03:13):
oh my gosh well welcome
Claremont. That's right. We
lived in a neighborhood calledClaremont
Chris (03:20):
we did well differently
Yes, we did. I was shocked I was
you really threw me there for asecond but you're right we did
spelled differently Well, I
Kelli (03:29):
can't see the spelling I
know you can't your computer but
I'm just saying maybe this isClaremont. But we're trying to
like you know just make aconnection with the connections
I'm just
Chris (03:38):
we are making Olive
Branch Yeah. Okay. Apt out
France, APTA BT
Kelli (03:45):
and they just say it like
that just the app just like we
will this probably
Chris (03:48):
got some Slayer because
you know the French Egypt France
because clues
Kelli (03:58):
we're not we're not
dogging you the French okay we
love we love the French This
Chris (04:02):
is not far from the coat
does Xia ah in the south of
France just north of Marsay
Kelli (04:09):
Ah Then forget everything
he said apt okay, you're awesome
however it's pronounced we lovethe French you didn't you said
bad things about the French Whendid
Chris (04:20):
you were like oh they
probably say it. I say they say
it with flair. They sayeverything they say sounds
amazing.
Kelli (04:25):
You were like you don't
know the French or that voice
that is what all has been soundlike all that's been so like
that.
Chris (04:38):
Oh mg is gonna be one of
those. So let's talk about
what's going on. Really, it'sjust what I want to talk about.
Kelli (04:49):
Right this Chris segment
also known as the news or Main
Street USA. Yeah.
Chris (04:55):
Yes, what turned 50
turned 50 on June 10. June 30,
Kelli (05:01):
turned 50 on June 30. I
don't know.
Chris (05:06):
You do musical review,
hope they do loopty day musical
review turned 50. Now theytypically celebrate the
anniversary of the WHO to do onlike September the fifth because
that's when it went official atthe Magic Kingdom
Kelli (05:20):
was like a soft out of
town preview.
Chris (05:24):
I would pay anything for
somebody to like write in where
these things come from therandom movie quotes that we say.
Yes, it's like it was like anout of town preview. Actually,
the show opened on June 30 1974as part of the Disney World Fine
Arts College workshop program.
Wow, that's a long name. And youcan't really can't really like
(05:49):
turn it into an acronym. It's
Kelli (05:53):
a lot going on there.
Okay.
Chris (05:56):
The whoop dee doo musical
review was so popular that
summer that Disney made it apermanent show on September the
fifth 1974. So typically, theycelebrated on September the
fifth, but they did June 30 thisyear. Super big deal. The
coolest thing though, some ofthe original cast by the
original cast members. And sosome of the original cast
(06:17):
members were the audienceparticipants.
Kelli (06:21):
Oh my gosh, so good,
because it's probably still a
very similar actor
Chris (06:25):
is still very similar
show and it's just like they had
a great time.
Kelli (06:31):
Wow, that's awesome.
Really, really cool. So awesome.
Chris (06:34):
The rock and roller
coaster is back after six months
of refurb okay, they totallychanged it out.
Kelli (06:44):
New Car.
Chris (06:45):
Totally different band.
That's the Aerosmith anymore.
Oh, God. Just kidding. None ofthat. None of that is true.
That's just what everybody saysevery time this thing goes down
for a major refurb Okay, yeah,it's the same show. Okay, they
didn't do much to it. Honestly, the folks are gonna see like in
the in the pre show where you'reseeing the band the studio there
(07:07):
they've they've replaced a blackLes Paul in their house back
home all that took six months?
No, it did not. So I just firstthing that's been this way all
day, honestly. They, that's thekind of things that they did in
the queue. And in the pre show, the biggest noticeable change is
(07:27):
in the lighting system on theride itself. And so not
impressed, not even a littlebit.
Kelli (07:38):
They spent six months on
lighting.
Chris (07:41):
Well, I don't know since
what I don't know what goes into
all that. But what what used tohappen is that most of the there
were no real lighting effects.
The things that you see in thedark when you're on the roller
coaster were lit up constantly.
So there was some ambientlighting that reflected off of
(08:01):
those things. Now, those thingsonly light up as you go by. And
so the dark parts of the rollercoaster are much darker than
they used to be. You're notimpressed not. You hate that
ride anyway,
Kelli (08:15):
it really hurts my ears.
It it is possible to hold me inmy seat without strapping
something on my shoulder that isso tall that it hurts my ears
and makes my head bangingaround. And the proof in that
pudding is that a lot of the newarise that they've created. Like
for example, Tron and Guardiansof the Galaxy do not hurt my
(08:35):
head and they don't hurt myears. Aerosmith makes it feel
like somebody is just giving mea concussion on both sides. I
get off of that ride feelingconcussed and you're telling me
they spent six months onlighting. I get off of that ride
concussed and they spent sixmonths on lighting. Are you
hearing me Disney?
Chris (08:58):
Everybody's here is not
what they
Kelli (09:01):
should have spent their
time on. Put in a new new cars
that hold me in the seat withouthurting my ears and making me
concussed. I just keep going.
Just I'm just saying oh, well, they need to listen to the
people. And the people. We'renot asking for better lighting
(09:23):
on Aerosmith. Les Paul, no, thatis not what we were asking for.
Chris (09:30):
That's how we wrote it. I
got off that thing. And I was
like, You know what would reallyset this off? Do Les Paul knew
last fall and some some dynamiclighting that only lit up the
signs when you read by them? No,
Kelli (09:42):
it's not gonna get me
back on it. I'm done with
feeling concuss please, if Iwant to listen to Aerosmith
music couldn't tell
Chris (09:50):
if you were concussed.
It's like it's also like you'venever written the matter whore.
Kelli (09:56):
Know the matter horn did
not hurt my head the matter horn
or ever Anything hurts everybone in your body. I'm against
the matter horn as well. I'mjust simply saying that if
you're going to spend six monthson Aerosmith do more than
lighting in a Les Paul.
Chris (10:14):
Well, that's what I'm
asking for some other stuff in
the queue. They don't care about
Kelli (10:19):
the queue. Nobody cares
about the queue. It's important.
I am concussed. When I get offof that ride. Nobody cares about
the queue. How hard it is for menot to be cussing up a storm,
right? Because I want to dropsome four letter words, but
(10:40):
we're trying to be friendly.
Unknown (10:41):
Are we?
Kelli (10:42):
I am I'm I'm bringing I'm
reining it in a bit. Wow.
Chris (10:48):
I know. The crowd doesn't
know that. But I know you are.
Kelli (10:52):
I'm just saying like,
nobody wants to be concussed and
2020. For Disney. You can youcan make roller coasters that
don't cut costs us. Okay, moveon. What's the next bit of news?
Chris (11:05):
I wasn't done with that
news.
Kelli (11:07):
I was just like, what
else have they done?
Chris (11:09):
I'm just kidding. I was
told that I'd be dealt with if I
had six more items on that list.
I would not cover them
Kelli (11:19):
not impressed move on.
Chris (11:21):
Disney has patented a new
flume ride system. And they they
appear to have suggested that itmay be used on a melodic style
of Dharma water themedattraction. Okay. Oh, we're okay
(11:43):
we're open minded to this.
Kelli (11:44):
I'm for it. I'm all for
new patents and typically flumes
don't concuss me
Chris (11:55):
said the word can cause
I'm saying can cause semantics
Disney has patented a ridesystem that keeps many of the
traditional water flume elementssuch as a water propelled
movement but combines it with anew two dimensional guide system
(12:17):
as a lot of words here but whatthey've effectively designed and
they and they basically say wecould use this on on a ride on a
boat that looks like anoutrigger like Like, like,
Kelli (12:31):
ah like a new situation.
Yeah. And
Chris (12:35):
so they're saying still
water propelled but the problem
with the current flume rideseverywhere is that it goes
straight down whatever the flumeis and you the the rider are
basically forced to look eitherright or left at whatever their
(12:55):
The show is. Yep, right. Whatthey want to do is effectively
what they've done on other rideslike guardians of galaxy, they
force you to turn where theyturn the ride, CES, the car
where they want you to see theshow while the vehicle still
moves in the original direction.
Kelli (13:17):
Can I ask a clarifying
question maybe
Chris (13:19):
I don't know if I can
answer it when you say
Kelli (13:21):
a flume ride like a log
okay that's not to say like
Tiana is we're not talking aboutlike at the waterparks
Chris (13:28):
right okay right no like
Tiana is like a dark ride type
environment Okay, okay likeTiana is ride where you're your
your field of vision is straightahead along with the ride right
the flume is going down theflume path the log is going down
the flume and you look one wayor the other to see the show
(13:51):
they wouldn't be able to theywant to control which direction
you're looking as you're stillgoing along with the water is
still propelling you withouthaving the boat flip without
having the boat turn over.
Right? And if they figured outthen wow, that seems like it's
worth a patent. Well, theythat's what the patent is is
saying hey, we have figured thisout and we wouldn't when we
(14:11):
build it we don't want somebodystealing stealing our idea and
as people tend to do yeah pay usfor it right? Yes.
Kelli (14:20):
I like it that says
Chris (14:22):
there's been rumors that
they Mallanna water ride is
coming to Animal Kingdom or thata Lion King water ride is
coming. In any case, they builtthe patent land area Yeah, or
what will be something else?
Yeah, okay. Yeah. So as they sothey have applied for this cool
new right technology out of it.
Kelli (14:47):
Did they not have a water
ride animal kingdom? Isn't that
where the thing that it's like abig boat?
Chris (14:54):
Yes. Callie river. River
Rapids.
Kelli (14:56):
Yeah, just nobody rides
it.
Chris (14:58):
No, lots and lots of
people. Right
we, we I've written it but wedon't typically write
Kelli (15:12):
it once in I got soaked.
Yeah, that's the idea. That'sjust not the it's not worth it.
Chris (15:18):
I think that's what
people write it for. Nobody
wants wet underwear. All of thepeople that ride it want. They
don't want wet
Kelli (15:26):
on days and you know they
want to be wet. Nobody wants
chafing at Disney. They don't.
They know. I can tell you rightnow nobody's looking for wet
undies.
Chris (15:34):
They are looking to get
wet on that ride. And they do
get wet on that ride. So yes, there's a water ride to animal
kingdom. But we might getanother one with this special
new ride system. Tomorrowland.
Kelli (15:46):
Yes, ma'am. So I am
talking about food. But this
what I know it is shocking. ButI'm taking us on to the Disney
treasure. Oh, now a littlebackground. The Disney treasure
is the upcoming six cruise shipto be owned and operated by
Disney Cruise Line, which is asubsidiary of The Walt Disney
(16:07):
Company and is due to enterservice on December 21 24. Okay,
so months away. Based on what Isaw, all the itineraries are
seven days. And it appears to beEastern and Western Caribbean.
Okay. So we've had some of thison the podcast before you talked
about some of the lounges. Youtalked about the Haunted Mansion
(16:30):
lounge?
Chris (16:31):
Is that on this one
that's on the treasure. Okay.
Yes. So
Kelli (16:34):
you talked about the
Haunted Mansion lounge. So I
want to give a quick overview.
So they have released what someof the themes, restaurant themed
restaurants and lounges arepreviously now they've released
food that you can expect at afew of those themed restaurants
and lounges. Okay, so I'm goingto revisit the dining options in
the lounge options that we knowwe have, and then tell you some
of the food options at the onesthey've released. Okay, so for
(16:58):
the lounges, you've got theHaunted Mansion parlor. You've
got the skipper society lounge.
You've got the periscope pub, which is featured on 20,000
leagues under the sea. Oh,you've got the Rose lounge,
which is Beauty and the Beast, and it apparently features
floating roses. Not sure whatthat's about. And you've got
(17:22):
what was recently announcedwhich is The Aristocats Lounge,
which is called the scat catlounge or slide. So they have
released three dishes or threeoptions that will be available
at The Aristocats lounge. One ofthem is the creme de la creme
martini, infused with cognac, chocolate and a nutmeg topping.
Chris (17:42):
Interesting.
Kelli (17:44):
The second is the cat
drink with clarified bourbon,
Amma ro Aperol and fresh lemon.
The cat drink and then the lastone is what I'm most interested
in, which is the Turkish teaexperience. Oh, and I love it
when a drink is called anexperience. This is a tea based
cocktail for two or more guests.
(18:09):
I feel like that's gonna comewith a souvenir mug. Normally
when they say like two or moregifts, it comes in some type of
a special serving vessel and Ithink it's going to have a
souvenir mug which I'm prettyexcited about. Okay, so those
are the that's what they havereleased now on the lounge side
that food for dining. Okay,we've got several different
dining options now the way itworks on Disney I looked at this
(18:33):
there's there's certain diningthat is included. And a lot of
that includes restaurants, obviously the main dining the
buffet area, like your averagecruise ship. And then there are
other restaurants that you costextra like the nice Steakhouse,
restaurants, things like that.
Okay, so the one they'vereleased some the most food on
is called Plaza de coco. Okay, this is a fiesta on the high
(18:54):
season, Santa Cecilia plaza atnight with a cocoa themed
entertainment. Okay, so this isI'm going to read this from the
website because this is what'sso cool. So a lot of these
restaurants that are separatefrom main dining offer multiple
different dining experiencesthroughout the week. So if you
come say Monday throughWednesday, this is your dining
(19:15):
experience. If you come Thursdaythrough Saturday, this is your
dining experience with differententertainment different vibe all
of that. So pleasant Coco willbe the first theatrical dining
experience themed to the Disneyand Pixar Coco film. This
theater in the roundentertainment venue will feature
a central stage surrounded bydining tables with performances
(19:38):
and show effects that willspread throughout the room. It
looks really really cool, verycool. On the first night, the
story of Miguel and his familiawill continue where it left off
in the film, as they gather inMariachi Plaza to take your
family on a colorful music fieldjourney, including dinner,
featuring modern twist ontraditional Mexican fare and a
(20:00):
lineup of live entertainment.
Your family will be invited tojoin Miguel, his parents Enrique
and Louisa and Emily to Elenafor a festive gathering that
honors the heritage of music andlove that runs deep in the
Riviera family in the Riverafamily. During the seven night
(20:21):
cruise, you will get not one,but two chances to visit this
family dining venue. During yoursecond night at Plaza de coco.
Miguel will reunite with hisgreat great grandparents Hector
Emma Imelda, as he transportsthem to the town square in Santa
Cecilia with the help of hismagic guitar. Together Miguel
(20:41):
and his ancestors will celebrateDia de los Muertos Rivera family
style, with a unique lineup ofmemorable songs from the film.
Very cool. So here is here aresome of the dishes that you'll
get at Plaza de coco. So this iswhat I want you to imagine is
these are high end dishes. Theseare beautiful, gorgeous things
(21:03):
that you would see at you know, the wine festival at Epcot.
Okay. The ABW Aleta Elena shrimpDiablo with chili chipotle
sauce, cilantro, you're outpickled red onion and toasted
bereits by Rotes a pretty sure Isaid that wrong. This is what
(21:23):
you want honey, the Teresa St.
croquettes with chili lime cremacotija cheese and cilantro ask
them to leave out the cilantrosome of these are heavy on
cilantro. Oh, you don't you hatecilantro. Wait You lied to the
podcast people. Third blisteredpoblano pepper stuff with wok
(21:44):
Sokka cheese and green rice. redcapsicum and green parsley
grilled snapper with fried yuca.
Refried beans, baby spinach andpika guy you so great. These
dishes are great gore. Justthey're gorgeous. This is not
(22:05):
like counter service anddeparture. Okay, or even table
serve. This is really reallynice dishes. Pan Seared Adobo
spicy bass with seared scallops, rainbow carrots, spinach,
romanesco peas and chimichurrisauce. Another thing I'll say is
positive cocoa is included inthe price of the cruise. Oh,
Chris (22:24):
that's a big detail.
Yeah, no, this
Kelli (22:26):
isn't considered one of
the high end restaurants so you
can go here or you can go tomain dining or you can go to
buffet or whatever. But that'scool. You got to have
reservations. Okay, but this isnot so that's nice. Louisa is
POJO Assata with Misha chancitrus chicken, cilantro rice
and serrano tomatillo salsa. Inreal case, Port Wine braced
(22:49):
center cut beef short rib withcheddar cheese and green onion,
red mash and long green beanswith crisp shallots. right these
are amazingly like elevatedYeah, Mexican Yeah. Mexican
chocolate tart with spicechocolate cream, caramel pecan
nuts and a chocolate glaze. warmcoconut trace late Chase. Oh,
(23:16):
coconut cake caramel sauce anddon't say de leche de ice cream
now. I did say it you love atray slideshows listen to the
next one honey, a margarita limecheesecake with a sea salt
shortbread and a raspberry AgaveMargarita Cooley. It looks
Chris (23:34):
gorgeous kind of
speechless. How can I have both?
Kelli (23:38):
You gotta get two nights
I think all right. I mean, it's
a cruise. You're not reallycrude so you've had multiple
desserts. Okay, then there isanother restaurant called Worlds
of Marvel. They also have twospecial nights. They do a group
remix night where you follow agroup during his own screen
quest to throw the ultimatesurprise party for his friend
rocket. Plus eat to the beatwhile listening to hit songs
(24:01):
from the Guardians of the Galaxymovies with awesome mixtapes to
test your knowledge of allthings marvel in a fun filled
trivia game for the wholefamily. That's cool. On another
night, you have Avengers quantumencounter, featuring a special
inference in person appearanceby Spider Man and you get to
help save the day with the aidof powerful quantum technology.
That's included that that is it.
Chris (24:23):
That's all part of the
data is included. Yes. Wow. Yes.
Kelli (24:26):
Then you've got your
steak restaurant called 1923.
This is a taste of Hollywood.
Named after the year the WaltDisney Studios was founded. This
elegant 1923 Restaurantcelebrates the imagination of
classic animation and theunwavering spirit of the
original studio that started itall. Feel like Hollywood royalty
as you dine on fresh Californiacuisine amid storyboards,
(24:47):
sketches and props for adventuretheme movies like Tarzan, The
Lion King Aladdin and more. Thislooked very Hollywood Brown
Derby, okay, but it's a it's abit different than that. A few
other eating options there aretwo different buffets there is
walk up cafes, there's asmokestack barbecue. There is
other things. But then onespecific that's really cool is
(25:12):
called Jumbos sweets. This is anice cream parlor inspired by
Jerry jumbo Jr. from Zootopia.
More than 31 flavors of handmadegelato and ice cream plus
specialty treats candies andmore. So imagine going into the
confectionery for free. That'sright. That's how cruise ships
(25:33):
work. Yes. So the hops carrotcake. MC wild raspberry cream
cupcake store red sandwich.
Mango leopard cake, sicklecarrot, chocolate covered
strawberries and Zootopiachocolate bark postcards. So
Chris (25:52):
can I go in there and say
I'll have this flavor of gelato?
Yes, I then say, but I also wantJudy Hopps cake. That's how
cruise ships work. The therestaurant you said was based on
like, the 2019 23. Yeah. Alsopart.
Kelli (26:14):
I don't know if that's
included. They haven't released
the menu yet. What I can say isthere is a really nice steak
restaurant that is on most oftheir ships, and it is not
included. So it's an additionalfee. Right. But that's that's
very similar to what you find ona lot of Royal Caribbean ships
where certain restaurants areincluded. Others aren't for
sure. But I will just say thefood at these that are included.
(26:39):
And I'm sure what they'reserving in the main dining is
mind blowing. But the food whatthey're serving at these
restaurants with theseentertainment options. Seems
phenomenal. Like I've neverwanted to go on a Disney cruise
as much as I want to go on theDisney treasure.
Chris (26:53):
So I've got a good friend
that I consider an expert. And
she knows what she's talkingabout on Disney cruises on on on
all things Disney frankly, okay,is Jessie talking about Jessie a
lot. She's a wonderful source ofinformation. And she just she's
(27:14):
done Disney cruises. She justrecently did a Royal Caribbean
cruise. And I believe I remembercorrectly. She'll correct me if
I'm wrong. That her take is thatthe food on a Disney cruise
outpaces even the best food on
Kelli (27:28):
Oh, yes. Yes. And that
sort of that you can't look at
these menus. You and I've beenon Royal Caribbean Cruises. I
know what to expect on a RoyalCaribbean cruise. You can't look
at these menus and thinkotherwise. Okay, no, it looks
phenomenal. Well,
Chris (27:45):
then we'll we'll do that.
That'd be our 20 have told
Kelli (27:48):
you we have to have
conversation about that.
Chris (27:53):
We just did. Speaking of
food and doing a food to you
don't really want to
Kelli (28:03):
react if reality is I
told you this topic. I said hey,
you're doing this topic.
Chris (28:09):
And I'm doing it there.
Yeah. Because it was my decisionto agree with you.
Kelli (28:13):
Oh my gosh.
Chris (28:15):
In 1970s and 1976, United
Airlines was replaced as the
title sponsor of the EnchantedTiki Room. Okay, who replaced
United Airlines dove as in doughpineapple.
Kelli (28:34):
Okay. Which makes so much
more sense than United Airlines.
Honestly. Sure. That was Thatwas horrible sponsorship right
Chris (28:40):
away. Dough pineapple
products could be purchased in
Adventure Land. Make sense?
Then, in 1983 dole took over thesponsorship of the same
attraction at Walt Disney Worldat the Magic Kingdom. Also in
1983, a landmark year in worldhistory 1983 1983. That's what I
(29:02):
meant to say. It's what I said.
I'm sure it's a
Kelli (29:08):
landmark year.
Chris (29:10):
At the dole Technical
Center in San Jose, California.
The dough whip was invented byfood scientists Kathy Westfall.
The world would never be thesame. Wow, Kathy
Kelli (29:25):
was a food scientist in
1983. Yeah, bless her.
Chris (29:28):
I didn't know they let
women have jobs. I didn't
either. And since and since July18, is National Dole Whip day.
So mark your calendars people
Kelli (29:44):
July 18, July 18. We're
gonna celebrate Kathy, we are
celebrating
Chris (29:48):
Kathie Westfall that on
sung hero and American it wasn't
Kelli (29:52):
just a woman with a job.
She was a woman who was ascientist.
Chris (29:56):
They let her be educated.
Kelli (29:57):
I was about to say I
really honestly did not know.
That's brilliant.
Chris (30:03):
Here are some fun things
to know about the Dole Whip. It
debuted at the Magic Kingdom in1984. One year after Kathy
invented it here, I don't eventhink it took a whole year
because it was it was fairlyexclusive to Disney for a long,
long time. Okay. Then itlaunched at Disney land in 1986.
(30:28):
Dole pineapple soft serveeventually became available in
stores throughout the country, but the dough whip was exclusive
to Disney parks and the DolePlantation on a wahoo
Kelli (30:43):
Now that's interesting.
Yeah, yep. So
Chris (30:45):
you get into the Disney
parks or the Dole Plantation
plantation Okay. Until 2023 Itbecame available in some retail
outlets No, I did not they sellit at the high V. high V Okay
great.
Kelli (30:59):
You brought it home I
didn't bring it home you weren't
interested in it. You were likeoh Lord.
Chris (31:03):
Oh whoops. Voice again
it's
Kelli (31:08):
what all husband sound
like
Chris (31:12):
oh boy, what if I don't
do all the work
please have it a whole show allby yourself. Technically, adult
whip is only the delicioussoftserve sold in a cup
Kelli (31:32):
that wanted to have a
sold a cup of tea
Chris (31:39):
it's sold as seems that
most people also refer to the
pineapple float. As well as aDole whip or a Dole Whip float.
Kelli (31:49):
They do call it a Dole
Whip float in the parks. They
Chris (31:51):
do not they most
certainly do. Call it a day
while I'm talking about theseother bullet points. I want you
to pull up the menu for Aloha IOand look for Dole Whip float.
You're not going to find ityou're going to find pineapple
float. That's interestingbecause I looked it up. That's
you know also I'm looking I'mlooking up above your head and
(32:11):
in my line of sight is a signthat says Aloha our
refreshments. What a delightfullittle room we do this in.
Kelli (32:18):
It isn't the rightful
room.
Chris (32:20):
Let's see. Dough whip is
a pineapple soft serve that is
vegan, lactose free, gluten freeand cholesterol free. It's made
from a pineapple flavored drymix that's mixed with cold water
and poured into the soft servemachine. The dry mix contains
ingredients like sugar, coconutoil, citric acid and natural
flavors. And it has a shelf lifeof 18 months. Wow. Yeah. It
(32:46):
doesn't last 18 months at Disneythey go through that stuff man.
Kelli (32:49):
I mean it makes me think
a little less of the dole whip
to know that it's that heavilymanufactured in process it was
it was a scientist but I didknow I did know that it wasn't
actually ice cream. It's it's ittastes more of like a like a
Orange Julius.
Chris (33:09):
Wow. Taking this ride
back to the mall in 1983. A
little bit little bit not notlike a sorbet or a server or
whatever. It's different thanthat. It really is somewhat like
a slightly more solid OrangeJulius more solid Orange Julius
(33:30):
that's what it is. If you don'tknow what Orange Julius is, I'm
sorry. Sorry. You missed out.
Kelli (33:37):
You didn't go to the mall
in the 80s No,
Chris (33:39):
a slim mall in Charlotte
was chock a block full of the
Orange Julius dough whip comesin many flavors including
pineapple, orange, strawberry, raspberry, mango, lemon, lime,
cherry and watermelon. Also knowthat they have vanilla flavor
and a coconut flavor that I'vehad in the past. The fruit
(33:59):
flavors are vegan, but thevanilla flavor contains dairy
and is not vegan. Okay. A singleserving of dough whip is 90
calories. Pretty good. Yeah, I
Kelli (34:12):
don't I knew they weren't
that bad for you.
Chris (34:15):
What's your favorite Dole
Whip you've ever had? I know
which one it is.
Kelli (34:20):
It's the cherry one with
the cake pop that sticks out.
It's cherry and pistachio cherry
Chris (34:25):
pistachio.
Kelli (34:26):
So good. You had it as a
float to Disney. It's a float.
Yeah, it's a float and onlyduring the holidays.
Chris (34:32):
I prefer like the orange
and vanilla or coconut oil and
the pineapple and coconut swirlor the I like the orange and
cream. But I don't like orangecreamsicle though I don't like
orange creamsicle but I do likethe orange and vanilla swirl.
It's not my favorite though.
I'll get to my favorite later.
Okay, all right. Dough whip canbe served in many different ways
(34:55):
on its own and a float or othercreations like get this done. Oh
whip nachos? Yes. Just wait,
Kelli (35:05):
no.
Chris (35:06):
Well you got the wrong
you got the wrong impression say
dough whip nachos is made withwaffle cone chips.
Kelli (35:16):
Okay, it's a dessert.
Chris (35:17):
Ah yeah see?
Kelli (35:19):
I thought you were
sprinkling the powder that we
just learned about on the chips.
Chris (35:23):
Wow, that was a leap that
you shouldn't took. Don't work
nachos are made well waffle conechips, Mango boba pearls, the
bug Pro, pineapple strawberrysauce, whipped cream and
sprinkles.
Kelli (35:37):
You know Disney heads up
more Baba more boba more but
less can cussing.
Chris (35:45):
You can find the dole
whip at various locations around
Disney theme parks includingAloha aisle like our little sign
in our basement says yep. AlohaI'll in the Magic Kingdom, the
refreshment outpost at Epcot andtrilobites at the animal kingdom
but where's our favorite placefor a Dole Whip? It also has our
favorite serving recommendationNepali at the Pali at the London
(36:08):
at the pineapple Lanai and AppleLanai right outside the lobby.
Kelli (36:12):
That's where they test
new new flavors. Flavors What
Chris (36:15):
else do they do there?
They add some rum they put darkrum in it if you want it
Kelli (36:21):
if you want it who
ordered?
Chris (36:23):
I mean give it to the
kids right they go sleep like a
baby yeah don't do that
Kelli (36:31):
look you do you there's
no judgment here judgment you're
saying yes absolutely go get itat the pineapple and I at the
Pali because it is spot on.
Chris (36:39):
Grab it there. They'll
put some dark rum on there you
go. Find you. On the ball. Yeah,it's
Kelli (36:45):
in it's a to go like
Chris (36:49):
souvenir serving customer
serving vessel. Yes. Yes. Right.
You grab it. Did you dark rum inthere. Say go ahead. Hit it up
again, if you want to. I thinkgo sit on the beach. Watch some
fireworks, man. Get your living.
It's a
Kelli (37:02):
good time. And that's
only probably like 200 calories
or so.
Chris (37:06):
I think that's right.
Kelli (37:07):
I mean, you probably
losing weight by eating it
essentially. Probably burningmore calories.
Chris (37:12):
I think it does because
it's also fruit. Oh, gosh, I
Kelli (37:15):
forgot about it. Be
afraid. Right? Right.
Chris (37:18):
Okay, now, at the Disney
Parks they're celebrating July
18 by selling a pineapple upsidedown cake with dough whip. which
just sounds amazing. If you goto the Disney Parks blog, you
can find a recipe for thepineapple upside down cake and a
(37:39):
dough whip that you can make athome. This is not the dole whip
you buy in the park. This isjust something similar to the
powder. It's effectively apineapple shake, but I'm gonna
give it to you real quick presspause, go grab your pen and
paper. I'm gonna give you therecipe real quick for the for
the dough whip part. All youneed is a half to three quarter
(38:02):
cup of pineapple juice dividedbecause you're gonna see why
don't dole pineapple juice. Twocups of frozen pineapple chunks
dough pineapple and one cup ofdairy free vanilla ice cream.
Put all the ingredients in ablender blend till smooth Oz
(38:22):
says Do not over blend in it'stoo thick. Just add tablespoon
of pineapple juice at a timeuntil it comes to consistency
you like scoop and serveimmediately.
Kelli (38:31):
Are you making us those
on the 18th?
Chris (38:33):
I am I might make them
before the 18th
Kelli (38:38):
All right.
Chris (38:39):
That's like so much
information about the dole whip
you can go make one now becauseI know you paused and you got
your notepad out
Kelli (38:45):
I really think we should
be celebrating Kathy a little
bit
Chris (38:47):
more I think has that
Kathy Westfall changed the world
Kelli (38:51):
he's an unsung hero
Chris (38:52):
