A super color, super or
whatever the internal thing is.
Chris (00:07):
This is the super Kelli
fragileistic, awesome Disney
Podcast, where each week wediscuss, you guessed it, Disney
Unknown (00:13):
things you know, things
you don't know, and things you
didn't know you needed to know.
Chris (00:17):
Well, as Walt would say,
the way to get started is to
quit talking and begin doing.
Oh, wait, wait,
Kelli (00:22):
wait, I can do this.
Okay, please stand clear of thedoors. Por favor. Man tenga se
alejaro de las puertas. Welcome
Chris (00:29):
aboard Disney. Fam, hello
out there. Disney. Fam, my name
is Chris and I'm Kelli. We arecontinuing our season 10, top
10, top 10 bonus, bonusepisodes. I think that's the
name. That's the official namethat something like that. So in
(00:50):
this week, you know, with therumors out there that we are, in
fact, getting a villains land atthe Magic Kingdom, I thought,
let's walk through the top 10darkest plans hatched by Disney
Villains.
Kelli (01:07):
Okay, you were in a dark
place this week,
Chris (01:10):
I guess. Yeah, yes. Want
to thank cbr.com which stands
for comic book, something. Idon't know what the ARG
necessarily stands for, butcbr.com put this list out there.
I did make some changes to it,but I wanted to thank them for
what they did, for doing a lotof the work there. Okay, I liked
their list. Sure. Just a couplechanges. Yeah. And, you know,
(01:35):
fair warning we could forget.
This is Disney, because thisstuff is dark man. Villains
aren't nice. Villains arepretty, pretty dark. And, you
know, and I know a lot of thestories come from, you know,
Grim Tales, and, you know,Mother Goose and all those
things have some pretty dark
Kelli (01:55):
whatever. We're just
killing parents. We're just
killing parents, right?
Chris (01:59):
But it's so much worse
than that. I mean, yeah, I know
things are pretty twisted. I'm
Kelli (02:03):
just saying it's dark.
It's a dark situation, yeah?
Chris (02:05):
And just also, you know,
maybe a little bit of a trigger
warning. Gaslighting isparticularly egregious and
common among the DisneyVillains, as is vanity, we'll
find, yeah, that feels right.
Vanity seems to be a big commondriver of bad acts. Okay, you
ready? All right, I'll startwith number 10 here. We're
counting down to the top, right.
(02:28):
I mean, Maleficent is number 10.
Now think about thatmaleficence.
Kelli (02:33):
The bar said it's really
setting the bar. It is.
Chris (02:36):
Some of these folks are
terrible. So yeah, she sets the
bar real high, right from thejump here curses Aurora as an
infant so that she will die onher 16th birthday. Now, that's
pretty bad. It's like, I'm notgonna kill you just as an infant
you hadn't literally, you don'tknow how good this world is yet.
And get you just old enough tomaybe see that you got a future
(02:59):
now you're gone now, thankgoodness that Merriweather was
there to sort of shift the curseinto to make her just fall into
a deep sleep. So what does Ohmalefs do? She says, no worries.
I'll just capture your man.
Prince Philip, I believe I'mgonna lock him away. I'm not
gonna just kill him, by the way,I'm gonna lock him away so he
(03:21):
won't get out until he's 100years old. You'll still be old,
16 year old Aurora, and he won'tbe able to wake you up anyway.
Wow, Miss like she could justkill these people. No, no, no,
no. We have people suffer. Iwant Aurora parents to suffer.
Kelli (03:39):
It's dark. It's pretty
dark. Maleficent is not a nice
person. She's not not a niceperson. But I do think it's
interesting that she's number 10and she's cursing people at
birth, right? Locking up theirboyfriends for 100 years.
Chris (03:55):
That's right. So let's be
fair. We are talking about the
animated versions here. Weright. You know, the live action
deal starts whitewashing her apretty good bit there.
Kelli (04:03):
Okay, all right, so
number nine, Gaston. Well, I
mean, Gaston is toxicmasculinity all day. I mean, he
is toxic masculinity 101, youknow, I don't know what to say.
I think he'd do really well intoday's political environment. I
He is nothing but brawn, nobrains. Dude eats, what? Five
(04:29):
dozen eggs with breakfast, notin this economy. I mean, broke,
be broke and be broke. So youknow, he's basically got LeFou
as a slave. Yeah, threatensyou've got here, vows to marry
Bell. I'm gonna say threatens tomarry Bell. Whatever it takes,
(04:50):
whatever it takes. We're notlooking for consent here. We're
looking for you are going tomarry me because I am gorgeous
and you must definitely want me.
Wouldn't it be great if you got.
To serve me for the rest of
Chris (05:02):
you, right? You could,
you know, I come home from a
long day and you rub my feet andtell her,
Kelli (05:07):
I don't know how she said
no to that. I don't know how she
managed to pull herself awayfrom that one. But then, yeah,
gas lights an entire town tolock Maurice away, who doesn't
love Maurice, put him in amental asylum and then attack
her. The Beast being an angrymob, right? So, toxic
masculinity. He's eaten way toomany eggs for this economy. He's
(05:31):
got a slave in LeFou, and hegaslights the whole town to hate
Maurice, and then he goes andkills the person she actually
loves. We won't get into thebestiality situation? No, no, we
don't love it. Um, you know, wewon't go there because it wasn't
Chris (05:46):
really a beast. He was
really, what's his name?
Kelli (05:50):
Beast, Beast, Beast. I'm
just saying his name's beast.
But Gaston is the villain here, and he's absolutely toxic
masculinity, 101 and numbernine.
Chris (06:05):
All right, number eight.
Mother Gothel, okay, again, vanity and gas lighting all day.
Here, she kidnaps an infant inprisons. That infant for the
child's first 16 years, let'ssay, gas lights or manipulates
her all so that she can stayyoung. And I guess in her mind,
(06:29):
beautiful. I mean, MotherGothel, didn't know Daisy.
Kelli (06:35):
She's gotta have, what
her hair. She's got a magic hair
to stay young, keeps her young.
You know, she's not a daisy, butshe is alive. She is alive.
She's vibrant and alive. She'snot a daisy, but she's she's
vibrant and alive. She reallygets into the hag moment fairly
quickly, really quick, when that
Unknown (06:52):
hair gets cut, Yep,
yeah, that's true.
Kelli (06:55):
Oh, AG, she she gets she
moves from vibrant to hag very
quickly. Of course,
Chris (07:00):
when it goes sideways,
she is absolutely willing to
murder again, truth, to stayyoung. Yeah,
Kelli (07:08):
you know what I want to
say? That's what the beauty
industry does to women. Youknow? I will just say, I get it.
Mother Gothel has bought thestory hook, line and finger. You
wouldn't believe what I see inthat algorithm. Get rid of neck
wrinkles, get rid of facewrinkles. This is gonna tighten
your butt. This is gonna takeaway cellulite. You wouldn't
(07:29):
believe the concoctions thatshow up in my algorithm. And so
I get it mother gothels Like Idon't have I don't need money. I
don't need all the all thosebeauty products. Stole this girl
with the magic hair, I've stolenthis child, and as long as I
could keep her in this towerstaring at the lanterns once a
year, you know, right, all I'vegot to do is gaslight her and
bring her like an apple everyday. I just make it and, by the
(07:51):
way, buy her some paint andstuff. Kid loves to paint. She
does
Chris (07:55):
love to paint. She got,
she got her little lizard friend
in dream high
Kelli (07:59):
valley. She carries her
canvas with her, and she will
pop that thing up right in frontof you, like you'll be walking
across the the path, and shejust pops up her canvas right
there. And I'm like, goodness,Rapunzel, like, Give somebody a
break on that you are constantlypainting.
Unknown (08:16):
Okay. Girl loves to
paint,
Kelli (08:17):
and she's barefoot. She's
always barefoot. I mean, to be
barefoot. I'm just saying, well, she got, she got. She was
basically raised by wolves, so Ican't blame her for that. But,
yeah, no, the beauty industryhas really gotten the Mother
Gothel, yeah, okay, numberseven, the Evil Queen. Evil
Queen. Now I'm excited to seehere gal Gado, yeah, as the Evil
(08:39):
Queen. So she's she's so vainthat she makes snow a scullery
maid, hoping that it's going tomake her look ugly, right? But
that doesn't work. So she hiressomebody to literally cut her
heart out of her chest and bringit. Don't
Chris (09:01):
just kill her. Don't just
kill her. Don't just cut her
heart out of her chest. Bring meher. Bring
Kelli (09:07):
me her heart that it's
that's dark start, that's,
that's dark, that is, that isdark. When that fails, she
decides to just go with poison.
Yeah, poison is never a goodpass to go. I think if you've
listened to any true crimepodcast, you know they're gonna
catch you if you go the poisonroute, because you bought it
(09:30):
somewhere, there's a credit cardreceipt. Poison is just too
easily trackable, so that is amistake, but she wants to poison
her to make her fall asleep sothen we can bury her alive. I
mean, y'all, this is seven, lastbox. I mean, I remember this is
seven. Give her a job that'sgonna make her ugly. Oh, that
(09:52):
didn't make her ugly. Cut herheart out of her chest and bring
it to me. That didn't work out.
Poison her. To fall asleep so Ican bury her alive.
Chris (10:03):
Some real hard hate.
Kelli (10:05):
I mean, that that was
some, that was some heavy themes
for the 1950s I think, oh no,1930s 30s, 30s. Yes, okay, that
was some heavy themes for the30s. All right. And we wonder
what happened to the silentgeneration? I mean, well, just
the these are our parrots, honey, these are our parents,
and we wonder why we were raisedon hose water and neglect.
Chris (10:29):
Like just saying you made
her a maid. What 15 minutes
thinking that was gonna make herugly? How you didn't work for
Cindy? No, no being a maid. ButI disconnected, were you Evil
Queen from what hard work mustreally be like. All I gotta do
is make somebody work for 15minutes and it'll make them
ugly.
Unknown (10:47):
Yeah, that feels right,
all
Chris (10:49):
right. Number six scar,
okay. First plans to murder a
child and his dad, the dad, bythe way, who is his brother, and
we'll go to murder them so thatI can be the king. I have all
the power. But then Mufasaactually saves Simba. So Simba
(11:10):
doesn't so half our plan is isscrewed up. It's not working.
Almost saves himself. And soscar says, No, I'm getting half
of this right. You're you'retoast. Kills Mufasa, but then
gaslights the dude's own childinto thinking it's his fault.
Kelli (11:30):
I mean, he was a kid.
Sometimes it's easy to gaslight.
I mean, it is,
Chris (11:33):
but that mean that's the
whole point, yes, the whole
that's what makes gaslighting sobad is that you choose to take
advantage of a kid, yeah, orsome, you know, some poor sucker
that, yeah, buys your BS. Youknow,
Kelli (11:49):
this is why I can't see
the Mufasa movie. I don't want
to see them as brothers. I keephearing that song play on Alexa,
that Brother Song, and I'm like,I don't want to hear this. I'm
tired of seeing Mufasa die. I'mtired of seeing Mufasa die, and
I don't want to have any kind ofsympathy for scar. I
Chris (12:04):
will not ever forget you
in the live action version of
Lion King. Man, you were forclip. Gosh,
Kelli (12:10):
sick and tired of seeing
him die. But
Chris (12:12):
the worst thing here's
why scar ends up number six.
Dude's plan works. Yeah, crazyto gas, like kids, I mean, I'm
just, but then he's king. He'sking for years, and he ruins it.
He does. He rock that man, areally crappy King. It was just,
you know, it's how it goes. Allthe resources. Get
Kelli (12:32):
the hyenas. Yeah, they
should never been friends with
the hyenas. I know he, you know,he was a really crappy King.
Okay, we've got data to provethat, but
Chris (12:42):
he got it worked. He got
there. His plan succeeded, until
some somebody grew up and got tobe big enough to and
Kelli (12:50):
learned that he had been
gas lit or worked through that
on his own. He did. He wouldreally think he needed some
therapy, but through it, heworked through it eventually.
Okay, number five, Chernabog, now this is what I've never
seen. I've never seen thismovie, Fantasia. Never. I've
never seen the whole Fantasiamovie, which is interesting,
since I love Sorcerer Mickey somuch, sure, sure, in that, you
(13:12):
know, and they've launched awhole new line of sorcerer that
I love, but I've never seenreally, all of Fantasia, yeah.
So I'm reading your notes here, but I don't really know this. So
turn about is the essence ofdarkness and evil. His entire
goal is to destroy all light andgoodness. And he summons spirits
(13:34):
from around is it a he Trina
Chris (13:36):
bogs, a guy? I mean, this
feels, it feels very masculine.
Kelli (13:40):
It feels like a masculine
type of villain. Okay, he's
really given, again, toxicmasculinity very much. His
entire goal is to destroy alllight and goodness and summon
spirits from around the world inan effort to do so. It's giving.
It's really giving. Jafarsituation, only dawn. Jafar on
this list, only Dawn and therising sun can stop him, so that
(14:05):
that's interesting there.
Chris (14:06):
And so my question is,
does he do this every night? The
scenes that we see in Fantasiaof him summoning the dark power,
yes. And the spirits, does thathappen every single night
Kelli (14:16):
you've shown me those
scenes? I mean, I think so. Is
that supposed to be where ourbad dreams come from? Mel,
Chris (14:20):
hey, well, that's a good
call there. He's giving us all
bad dreams, right?
Kelli (14:23):
I've seen those scenes,
and I think that's supposed to
be what brings our bad dreams.
That's the the ghost that goes, you know, thump in the night or
whatever. Yeah, how did theghost go again?
Chris (14:37):
Laugh? Yes, you literally
asked. Don't make me laugh.
Okay, you go on number four,Alright, number four the horned
king. You know, this is, Idon't, we talked about this
before, um, super underrated badguy. He comes. He's like one of
the this is from The BlackCauldron in 1985 oh, this is the
guy made you pee your pants. Youdid, man, 10 year old Chris was
(14:58):
arrayed of the horn. King. I wasglad to see him on this list,
although I think, I think CBRhad him at number two, and I
moved him back to number four.
But I mean, before, right beforethe Renaissance, you know,
Little Mermaid came out, I thinkin like 89 or something, Black
Cauldron was one of those lastDisney movies before that
period. And it was a sort of adarkly animated thing. Even the
(15:21):
even the fun happy things are,are kind of darkly animated. But
this dude wants to destroy theworld through raising the undead
and having them just to goaround destroying the world. Now
he looks like a zombie himself, except with horns. Ie the horned
(15:42):
king. He looks like he's allskulled up and and love a good
zombie pick, though I do love azombie pick, which I enjoyed 10
year old. Chris liked this, buthe was really scared. I liked
Fergie. Fergie was like thelovable character, okay, okay.
And I liked Fergie a lot but,but the horn King was definitely
had my butt eating a holethrough the seat of the movie
(16:05):
theater. And yeah, he raises anarmy of the dead, literal
zombies, to destroy the world.
But, you know, we, we the goodguys, end up winning. It's good.
It's okay. I just think zombies, intentionally raising zombies to
destroy the world. Seems dark.
That's really dark. Usually, thezombies end up taking over the
world because of some accident.
(16:28):
This guy was doing it on purposehe wanted it.
Kelli (16:30):
But like, again, though,
not all zombies are bad, right?
Like Billy from Hocus Pocus, that's the one you found, the
one. Okay, that's the onlyzombie in the whole world that's
not bad. It's the only one. Manyzombies are misunderstood.
Chris (16:43):
They like to eat the
brains,
Kelli (16:45):
but, but what got them to
that point like, shouldn't we
try to learn more about theirorigin story and better
understand the roots of theirzombies?
Chris (16:54):
I think the they were a
live person that died and then
they became a zombie. I thinkthat's their origin story for
all the zombies.
Kelli (17:02):
I think the origin story,
I think the lesson we learned
there is to get cremated. Okay, number three, Cruella de Vil.
This one's fairly simple, right?
I mean, we're dog lovers. Shekills puppies. I don't really
know what else to say. There'sgreat fashion sense. Liked her
hair. I'm against the killing ofdogs.
Chris (17:27):
Kills puppies. Number
three puppies. There you go. She
kills puppies. Literally, we'vegot multiple people on this list
already that wanted to destroythe entire world, but Kelli
kills puppies. So she numberthree. Number three, there you
go. Okay, take us to 200 numbertwo. Getting on up there. Now.
Judge Claude Frollo, now, I haveargued on this podcast
(17:49):
previously that he is the worstof all the Disney Villains.
Hello. Is very deep dark. He'sdeep dark. He's got a lot of
layers there, lot of onionlayers going on. A lot of self
loathing, I think going on thereprobably would scare whatever
therapist worked with. Okay, soCBR, by the way, had him at
(18:14):
number four. I put him at numbertwo. Okay, so we start, we
start, you know, with good oldfashioned murder. We murder a
Romani woman, you know, and andwhat do we do? She She's with,
she's carrying her young child.
What do we do? We're gonna coverup the murder of this woman by
dropping her child into a wellto drown it. That seems dark and
(18:36):
so the local, you know, priestthere at Notre Dame says, no,
no, you got to raise this kid.
So how do what? Okay, what do wedo? We we raise that kid by
locking him away in the Tower ofNotre Dame. We gaslight him his
(18:58):
whole life to think that he'sactually being done a favor, and
we demand gratitude from him forthe crappy situation we put him
in. You know, that seems topicaltoday, then we don't understand
our feelings that we're havingfor another young, beautiful
Romani woman. So we've decidedwe're gonna murder her.
Kelli (19:25):
I mean, this is the guy
that says women can't wear
leggings and show theirshoulders, exactly, right? This
is that guy, at the very least,if you wear leggings, it's your
fault that I'm turned on, right?
This is that's fro
Chris (19:38):
love. That is fro love,
that's Frollo. Go, just go.
Listen to the lyrics of the songHell fire, one of the that's a
dark one of the more disturbingsongs in the Disney lexicon,
that is a dark one. Yeah, he'sgot some feelings for Esmeralda
that he doesn't quite know howto deal with. So what does he do
in his search for her? Burnsdown all of Paris, undoubtedly
(20:02):
killing numerous citizens, andthen when he does catch her, he
forces her to choose between himor death. Dude is a bad guy.
That's what
Kelli (20:11):
I'm saying. If a man
comes to you and says, Choose
between me and death, youranswer should always be death,
because
Chris (20:19):
the living version of
that is gonna be good.
Kelli (20:22):
Go with death. Esmerelda,
go with deaths. I
Chris (20:26):
don't know what to say,
come get a t shirt. So go with
Kelli (20:30):
more death. Esmerelda,
always pick death. If a man is
saying neither death, you betterpick death. Yes, all day, pick
it. I don't know what to saythat he's a dark dude. I
Chris (20:41):
think, I think number
one's gonna catch people off
guard.
Kelli (20:44):
Okay, all right. Number
one the coachman. Now,
Chris (20:47):
anybody know what the
coachman is? Yeah,
Kelli (20:50):
so, you know, we've said
before, Pinocchio is dark.
Pinocchio is twisted. Pinocchiois not really a movie for kids,
not
Chris (20:58):
I had my look. Mama had
to carry me out when, when the
whale came, I had had enough. Iwas time to go.
Kelli (21:06):
It's dark. Pinocchio is
dark. I never saw a live action
one with Tom Hanks. I haven'teither. Now, the previews for
that heavily implied a lovingrelationship and a in a bond and
some healing and things of thatnature. But the coachman was in
that one too. Okay, right. Sothe themes were all still there,
(21:27):
yeah,
Chris (21:28):
oh, yeah, yeah. I mean, I
think Geppetto, the whole deal
with Geppetto and yeah, it'svery loving and caring, yeah,
yeah, yeah. But it's Pinocchiohas quite a, quite
Kelli (21:38):
a dark there's a dark
theme there. Okay, so the
coachman is the guy in Pinocchiothat convinces young boys to
come with him to PleasureIsland.
Chris (21:47):
Already, already good.
That's a bad that is really
Kelli (21:51):
giving to say Michael
Jackson Neverland mansion all
day.
Chris (21:56):
Yeah, yeah. And
Kelli (21:59):
that's, that's not good,
okay, this they come to this
island where they could causechaos, be crazy, and do anything
their heart desires, drinking, smoking, carousing. These are,
these are little children.
Children, yes, little children.
Now there was a lot of smokingand drinking, though, in the
early Disney films. Just for therecord, if anybody wants to know
the numbers on that, I've gotthe research. So anyway, he
(22:21):
convinces them that this isparadise, you know, I would
argue that the media does thatto men today, convincing them
that smoking, drinking andcarousing is in fact, paradise
with no consequences, noconsequences. Turns out there
are, are there? Are there reallythough? Yeah, well, are there
really for there were forpadocia. But again, the reason
(22:43):
you've got him number one, thereason you've got I'm gonna get
you there. So what they what thekids don't realize is they
follow him to this island, andthen they're all everything
they're doing turns them intodonkeys when he sells them into
slavery.
Chris (22:58):
Yep, you become a donkey,
and then you're a slave forever.
But
Kelli (23:02):
here's the thing, the
coachman was never stopped.
That's right, that's what makeshim number one. Yes, Pinocchio
escape, but as far as we know,he's still Captain little boy,
little boys and sell them. Aslave turns them into donkeys
and sells them. This is stillhappening today. Yes, right? The
media is still feeding littleboys this line today that
(23:24):
drinking and smoking andcarousing is the way to play the
paradise. But really it justturns you into an ass. Turns you
into an ass that is enslaved byjust all this debauchery,
debauchery living, I mean,
Chris (23:42):
but, yeah, in the movie
they and Pinocchio gets away,
Jiminy Cricket gets away, but,but
Kelli (23:48):
the coach, that's his
What about all the other little
boys that are donkeys, that areslaves now, all the future
little boys in the, you know, inthat cartoon world say, I think
slaves with an opposable thumbbe worth more, but whatever, I
don't know that going withdonkeys is the best way to get
work out of
Chris (24:03):
what the, you know, the
making them pull plows and
stuff. I'm sure.
Kelli (24:06):
I think a slave with a
deposable thumb would be worth
more. But whatever, I'm justsaying, This dude is, is bad
dude. He's bad. He's bad. Didyou count in your top 10? How
many were men versus how manywere women? No, we
Chris (24:22):
can do that real quick.
1234,
Kelli (24:26):
you got six men, four
women. And you yourself said,
how did we not have Jafar onhere?
Unknown (24:33):
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Kelli (24:36):
yeah, I think we should
have made this like for it being
Women's History Month and allthis should have just gone the
top 10 Disney men who abusedwomen. The top 10 Disney men who
(24:56):
abused their power.
Chris (24:58):
I'm glad to see you're
recovering. I
Unknown (25:00):
still got my spunk. The
meds have kicked in. I feel I
feel good.
Chris (25:08):
Yeah, yeah, pretty good,
yeah. It sounds like you're
recovering nicely. I'm on theI'm on the downside.
Unknown (25:15):
I'm sorry, honey. I
really am sorry about that.
Chris (25:18):
I can't defend all men,
especially with men like the
coachman and Gaston runningaround out there. Oh,
Kelli (25:24):
goodness. I mean,
honestly, they're worse in real
life.
Chris (25:31):
