When you set a goal or intention, following the path there is like following GPS. Sometimes you think you know better, but sometimes a detour comes along you didn't expect. The thing is, life's GPS doesn't care where you've been. It cares where you are, and where you're going.

I've been expanding my salon and let me tell you, it's been a lot. I don't always follow the path my life GPS is leading me, and sometimes I wish I had because I can't alway see the obstacles that are coming. Tune in for an inspiring discussion on goal setting, handling setbacks, and persistently moving forward.

Patrice B (00:42):
Hello 2025.
I hope all of you are doingwell.
I feel like things are, like, moving crazy fast.
It has been such, like, a crazytime.
Like, the end of 2024, like, flew by.

(01:05):
And then here we are in 2025,and I'm like, goddammit, time is
flying.
It's amazing.
And I don't know if you guys, ever think about, like, where
you came from and where you'regoing, right?
And I had this, this epiphany ofthinking about life like a GPS.

(01:28):
When you think about how Waze,Google Maps, they don't care
about where you've been, theycare about where you're going.
And it made me think about howlife moves and how things go for
us in our life.
Because it really just doesn'tmatter where you've been.
We really have to focus on wherewe're going.

(01:48):
And I know I tell you guys thata lot.
But the main thing is, is justrealizing like, if we even
functioned in life and thoughtabout how Just, just try to live
our life almost like a GPS,where am I now and where am I
going?
And I think it's crazy that whenI think about ways and I'm

(02:09):
taking it because I even useWaze now y'all for real, just to
get through life, like it'stelling me traffic, everything
ahead of time because I can'tquite see the future.
But I know where I'm going,right?
I put in the destination of,hey, I want to get here.
I want to get from point A topoint B.
The GPS tells you how long it'sgoing to take you to get there.

(02:34):
It gives you an estimate of howlong it's going to take you to
get there, which direction youshould go.
But what's interesting in lifewhen you think about the GPS.
It will redirect you when thingsare crazy.
Traffic happens, an accidenthappens.
The GPS will say take thisstreet, but do you find it

(02:55):
funny?
Cause maybe it's only just methat I find that I don't take
that damn street all the time.
I'd be like, they don't knowwhat they doing.
I'm gonna go here.
Cause that's crazy.
It's going to be traffic, butthe GPS is saying like, Hey
girl, Hey sir, it's a problem upahead.
You should exit.
And we got to think about thatin life when red flags show up

(03:15):
in relationships and sometimesyou might need to pivot, you
need to exit or like, Hey, whereI'm living may not be the best
space for me.
And we need to adjust the GPS isalready saying like, Hey girl,
Hey, don't go that way.
Sometimes I listen, sometimes Idon't.
And we do that in life.

(03:37):
And when you get off course,it's saying, Hey, make a U turn.
Hey, turn left here.
And sometimes we just don'talways listen.
But when I think about just howlife has been going for me and
the goals that I have beensetting and where I am going, it
made me just think about theGPS.

(03:57):
Cause it doesn't matter 10 yearsago where I was, it matters
where I am now.
And I wanted to just share thatwith you guys as I have made
some major changes in my life ofjust expanding the salon.
It's like hiring the people, nolonger this solopreneur.
And it came from the thoughtsof, Hey, what is it that I

(04:21):
actually want to do?
I have been just focusing on thefuture.
Where is it that I really wantto be and where I'm going and
focusing on how am I going toget there?
What is going to be this route?
And along this journey and thisprocess, I had some tests of my
goddamn patience and gangster, because things don't always go

(04:41):
as planned and it recalculates,it redirects me and I've been
listening.
Because I know where I want toget to.
And clearly the signs that aregiven, the way things are
directed, it is guiding me towhere I want to be, but I just
needed to set my goal and mydestination.

(05:01):
And that's how, cause this ishow my 2025 has started y'all.
I've been out here in my head, but I've been goal focused in my
head of what are the goals thatI am setting for my future?
Where is it that I want to goand moving my feet towards those
goals.

(05:22):
The GPS doesn't judge where youcame from.
It doesn't care.
And we got to remember that, that your old life is just where
you were.
And you have a chance toredirect and get to your next
destination from where you areplanted.

(05:42):
What is your life looking likegoing forward?
And you know, everyone setstheir goals and their
intentions.
Like I tell you guys all thetime, my new year starts back at
birthday.
Every birthday is a new goalsetting journey for me.
And since my birthday, I've hadan expansion of the salon, I've
hired people.
It is crazy at what happens inmy new year, starting in

(06:06):
November.
I have definitely had the lifeof redirection.
Hey, girl.
That might not be where you needto be, but I hear where you're
trying to go and let me help youget there.
And life rewards you for that.
When you set your prayers andset your intentions and you

(06:28):
believe in God, He's listening.
He or she is listening.
And it's all possible.
But I just want you guys to knowthat your past does not define
you and I feel like I've toldyou that before But if you are
setting your goals right now, think about where you are and
where you're going Do nottorture yourself about your

(06:48):
past, past relationships, yourpast jobs, what you didn't do
Girl, sir, ma'am, right now, what the hell are you going to
do going forward?
What you about to do?
Make it make sense And it's okayif you get redirected.
Direction is needed sometimesbecause accidents happen,

(07:11):
traffic happens, something isgoing to slow you up.
You might need to take anotherstreet and it is okay because
you're still getting to yourdestination.
And I just had to share thatwith y'all because that's how
I've been really thinking aboutlife lately.
What does that look like?
Where am I going?

(07:35):
And since I have set those goalsand focused on what my future
was looking like, the GPS oflife has been guiding my ass.
And I just hope you guys getsomething from this.
I hope that you know that youcan get to where you want to be.
Stop looking in the past, focuson your future.

(07:56):
Focus on moving forward in life.
Even if forward is justtomorrow, just get to that.
Not 10 years down the line.
If you don't have it, do one dayat a time, live your life for
today and listen to life.
When it's trying to redirectyour ass, please.
And thank you.

(08:17):
And I'm gonna leave you guyswith this.
No matter how many wrong turnsyou make in life, the GPS is
ready to get you back on track.
It's waiting for you to just setyour next destination in.
Think about where you're going, and it damn sure don't matter

(08:40):
where you came from.
And of course, as always, thankyou guys for spending your time
with me.
Until next time.
