Join me in conversation with Helen Knott, super talented author of In My Own Moccasins: A Memoir of Resilience, as we reflect on her inspirational journey through writing, healing, family, and advocacy.

Helen is a Dane Zaa, Cree, and mixed Euro-descent woman from Prophet River First Nations. She has her Bachelor’s in Social Work. She has worked primarily with Indigenous families that have been involved with the Ministry of Child and Family Development in the area of advocacy and wellness. Helen has facilitated provincially for a variety of age groups on different topics ranging from intergenerational trauma to using writing as a tool for social justice. She was recently appointed to the provincial Minister’s Advisory Council of Indigenous Women.  In 2016 she was one of sixteen women globally featured by the Nobel Women’s Initiative for her work to end gender-based violence.

She has a variety of poetry and academic pieces published and is currently working on her second book, Becoming A Matriarch. Most importantly, Helen is a single mother to her son,  and spends most of her free time with her family. Helen is eight years sober and clean on her journey and is passionate about healing. She was once taught that teachings are not yours until you give them away so her words are a part of her offering back to the people.

Paper Ghosts: The Texas Teen Murders

Paper Ghosts: The Texas Teen Murders takes you back to 1983, when two teenagers were found murdered, execution-style, on a quiet Texas hill. What followed was decades of rumors, false leads, and a case that law enforcement could never seem to close. Now, veteran investigative journalist M. William Phelps reopens the file — uncovering new witnesses, hidden evidence, and a shocking web of deaths that may all be connected. Over nine gripping episodes, Paper Ghosts: The Texas Teen Murders unravels a story 42 years in the making… and asks the question: who’s really been hiding the truth?
