In this episode of the 411 Live, Beverly Taylor talks to Dr. Angela Rabbitt, DO Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Dr. Wendi Ehrman, MD Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Adolescent Medicine Specialist at Children's Hospital about sex trafficking and how to recognize it in the Medical Care world. We talk about how to approach and care for the victims of sex trafficking when you are caring for them medical field. Dr. Rabbitt said, "In emergency departments, urgent care centers, reproductive health care centers and other places like that, we found that less than half were able to identify someone as a trafficking victim." When it comes to advancement, the medical world is always trying to do better. Not just for the physical but mental and spiritual too. Dr Ehrman goes on to say, "All medical personnel including the person who checks somebody in. The front desk should know the warning signs, not just the doctors and the nurses and the PAs, but everybody who works in the medical field should have some idea of what to look for even paramedics and EMS first responders." Listen along as we get deep into what questions to ask patients and how to have a safe conversation with them. If you are new to The 411 Live podcast, we would love to hear from you.
