In this episode of the 4PM Podcast, host Mounir Ajam explores one of the most overlooked yet critical aspects of project management: project closure. Too often, projects are rushed to an end, leaving behind lost knowledge, missed opportunities for improvement, and no lasting organizational learning.

Drawing on decades of global project management experience, Mounir highlights why learning from history matters and how neglecting closure can set organizations up to repeat past mistakes. He then introduces how the Uruk Platform addresses this challenge with practical solutions—such as staged closures, completion reports, captured lessons learned, and success measurement—ensuring that projects don’t just finish, but leave behind valuable insights for future success.

If you’ve ever wondered how to turn every project into a stepping stone for organizational growth, this episode is for you.

Instead of waiting to close theproject at the end after

(03:40):
handover, we included a processfor closing every stage before
the stage team members leave theproject.
Number three completion report.
In the last stage of theproject.
We insist on generating acompletion report.
The closeout report will be inthe future, after the final
success assessment.

(04:01):
The project completion reportincludes many steps.
By the way, we insist onclosing every project, even
those terminated, beforecompletion.

(04:21):
lessons learned on a project.

captured throughout the project.
There is no need to wait forclosure.
Accordingly, each projectcontributes to learning and
improving future projects.
In addition, while planningeach stage in the current
project, the team can review thelesson from past projects and

(04:43):
embrace the learning.
Number five project success.
We also incorporated projectsuccess in the Rook platform
with a dedicated module usingthe Rook way for dimension of
project success.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
