adversity and have come out on the other sideof it.
And I want you to know that you are not alone.
Good afternoon, this is Katherine, your hostwith the Beyond Business Podcast.
(00:49):
And I'm excited to introduce you to PermeliaParham.
So Permelia has been divinely guided to createthe Healing Institute, which is an online
worldwide hub connecting clients searching foralternate health solutions to holistic
practitioners.
Permelia inspires her team of professionalholistic practitioners to create a proactive
(01:13):
wellness community supporting their clients andeach other.
The Healing Institute motto is Service withLove.
I love that motto.
Welcome, Permelia!
Thank you so much, Katherine.
I'm delighted to be here today.
So let's start with that.
Service with Love.
(01:33):
How did that motto come about?
Well, I actually borrowed it from my school.
I went to a girls' private school for the lastfour years of my schooling from grade nine to
12.
Our motto was service with love.
Now it was in Latin, so I decided not to usethe Latin term, but the English term is service
(01:59):
with love.
Because the holistic practitioners at theHealing Institute are all heart-led beautiful,
beautiful people, they really care abouthealing the world, really care about their
clients and their clients' health and healing.
And so I thought it was a perfect motto for usto have at the Healing Institute.
(02:23):
So let's talk a little bit about what you doand how you serve the world and how you make a
difference.
Well, personally, how I make a difference isthe modality that I have been certified in is
called the Body Code.
Some people have heard of the Emotion Code.
The Emotion Code is part of the Body Code, andit's looking at those unprocessed negative
(02:48):
trapped emotions that could be stuck in oursubconscious.
Now, this isn't something that we are trainedin or we're educated in.
You know, we're taught that our cognitive brainis really what is happening and not our
subconscious, but really that is where 90% ofour emotions are, and we really want to be able
(03:13):
to look at whether or not those emotions arerunning the show, as I call it.
So we definitely want to make sure whateverthose emotions are, and they could be there for
many reasons.
We could have inherited them, we could haveabsorbed them from other people, it could be
any kind of illness or injury or event that hashappened in our lives.
(03:38):
It could even be past lives that we havebrought those emotions forward, and they are
negative.
So we want to make sure that we release them.
There is a process that I take my clientsthrough to release their emotions so that they
can be the best versions of themselves.
Because I truly believe when we are living inthe best version of ourselves, that's when we
(04:02):
can serve the world and humanity and make adifference in the world.
So what was it that brought you to thisunderstanding to be able to become this
practitioner?
Because you've done other things along yourjourney, right?
Yes.
And what resonated with you that made thissomething that you wanted to focus on to help
(04:23):
heal the world?
Well, I started my own healing journey probablyover 25 years ago.
I was in not a very joyful spot and I'm apretty happy, joyful person.
So I started looking and searching for my ownguides and I knew I had to go within.
I knew I wasn't going to find it, you know, with anything that could, you know, you can
(04:50):
make yourself happy by going for retail therapyor all those massages and facials and things,
but that is only from the outside.
It's not from the inside.
And I was very fortunate that I met my energyteacher.
I call her my energy teacher and I ended upstudying under her for eight years.
(05:12):
And she taught me the language of healing, vibration, how we are looking at our real
limiting beliefs, how we can change those, andto heal past lifetime energy as well.
So all of that led me then to the Emotion Codehealing modality and it is connected to our
(05:35):
vibration and, as I mentioned before, oursubconscious.
So when I was introduced to the Emotion Code,it just made perfect sense to me.
And because I was already a practitioner and Iwas already seeing my clients and using the
modalities that my teacher had trained me in,she gave me her blessing to be able to use what
(05:59):
she had trained me in for me to train myclients because she really wanted people to be
joyful and really wanted people to be able toembrace who they really are in the world.
So when I was studying the Emotion Code andthen the Body Code, which includes the Emotion
(06:19):
Code, and the Body Code is looking ateverything that's going on in the body.
So it could be physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, whatever issue is coming up for
people, what we do is find these emotions andrelease them out of the subconscious so that
your organs and your glands and your systems inyour body can be as healthy as possible.
(06:44):
So how do you explain to someone, let's saythey're having, they know that they've had some
trauma in their lives, but how would youarticulate to them that it could be something
that has happened within them, you know, whenyou talk about past lives or you talk about,
you know, how is it that you explain that tosomeone for them to, I would say in elementary
(07:09):
terms, so that they understand what you'retalking about and what you mean by that.
Yes, thank you for that.
You know, some of us as practitioners, we kindof get into our own lingo, and then we think
everybody understands what we're talking about.
I usually start by telling people andexplaining that we all have vibration and that
we're all energy.
(07:31):
And although this is a physical body, it's madeup of energy.
And so energy flows, energy comes into us, itcomes out of us.
We can attract that energy, we can send thatenergy out into the world.
And so once people understand that this is avibration, then I just relate it to, you know,
(07:56):
if you have these emotions, if you're feelingsad, let's say, you're feeling perhaps
depressed, it could be something you don't evenknow why you are.
You just are.
You're just not feeling happy.
Well, that could then be this vibration thathas arrived in your body because it's not only
in your mind.
(08:16):
It's also in your body.
And we really want to make our body's vibrationas positive as possible because if we don't, it
will affect our physicality, and it will affectour organs, and it will affect our systems, and
that is disease, which we know what that leadsto.
(08:38):
So we really want to make, you know, be aware.
I always say be curious.
Ask questions.
Do your research.
You know, allopathic medicine is great.
It has its place, but holistic medicine alsohas its place.
And with the Healing Institute, we really wantto bridge that gap between the two.
People are kind of in one camp or the other.
(09:00):
I have to just do what the doctor says or yes,I want to do all what the holistic side says.
But we need both in our lives.
And so when I try to explain to people that, you know, yes, the medical community is great,
but it's only been taught a certain way.
And it hasn't been taught that we actually, ourbodies are pretty amazing.
(09:25):
We can actually heal ourselves given all theright conditions and tools.
But we're not taught that.
It's not something that, you know, we've grownup with.
We've grown up with the medical model for thelast 50-odd years that if something was wrong
with you physically, you went to the doctor andthe doctor fixed you.
Well, now we have way more information aboutthat fix.
(09:48):
And is that fix good for you?
You know, I have a personal story of beingdiagnosed with cholesterol that I was gonna go,
the doctor wanted me to go on a medication.
And I said, no.
I don't want to go on that medication because Ihad done my research.
I knew what the side effects of that medicationwere.
(10:09):
And also I knew how to get my cholesterol intoa healthy state.
And so that's why I say, you know, do yourresearch, be curious, always ask questions.
It's very, very important to ask as manyquestions and be educated.
That's another reason why I called the HealingInstitute an institute because I'm really
(10:31):
passionate about educating people on how theycan be well and stay well on their health
journey.
Do you find that a lot more people are muchmore curious nowadays and actually seeking
other alternative ways in which to heal?
Well, I have to say yes because, of course, that's in the space that I'm in.
(10:52):
But I know a lot of people kind of joke aboutDoctor Google.
You know, you have to be careful of what you'refinding there, but that kind of information
wasn't available 30 years ago.
So, you know, take it with a grain of salt, butyou know, use it as part of your research for
sure and find especially those side effects.
(11:16):
Side effects of what?
Any kind of medication that you're beingrecommended to be on.
So one question I always am very curious aboutis I find that a lot of practitioners who are
in the holistic industry, they have to be very, let's see, they have to be able to heal
(11:39):
themselves as well and utilize what they aregiving out to others, but they have a tendency
to not focus on themselves because they're suchgivers and, you know, give out.
So how do you at the institute allow, you know, your practitioners to stay healthy as well?
So I really, I really support our holisticpractitioners to do exactly what they're asking
(12:03):
for their clients to do.
Make sure you do your research.
Make sure you're asking the curious.
Be curious and ask those questions.
Most of, I would say nearly all thepractitioners I have, have their own process.
So they either journal, they do yoga, meditations, they have gratitude processes that
(12:28):
they go through.
They really incorporate what they are about andwho they are and what they are offering to
their clients.
That's certainly one of the conditions forbeing a practitioner on the Healing Institute
Hub is that you walk the talk.
It's not just you haven't just learned this andnow you, you know, want to teach others, you
(12:49):
really are doing it yourself.
I love that.
Do you have a specific client avatar as to whois your ideal client?
say women, anywhere between the ages of 40 upto 90.
Women are, I believe so far in my experience, more curious about their health and their
(13:14):
family's health.
Sometimes it will be that they are in touchwith me more for looking at alternative ways
because of their family.
And so they've gone the allopathic model andsomething's not working or there's maybe been
an allergy to medication that's recommended.
(13:36):
And so they will be looking at alternativeways.
So that is really my target market (13:41):
women in
that age range because they are willing to be
curious and they're willing to ask questions.
Usually, it's for their family because as womenwe're always giving.
That's how we've been raised.
But internally then it'll come back to them andthey'll go, well, this is working for my family
(14:03):
so I know it's going to work for me.
Can you give me an example of a client thatyou've worked with that you were able to, that
they started out with you and you were able tohelp them navigate and get to the other side of
how they, you know, whether it was a trappedemotion or whether it was something that they
were really having struggles with?
Yes, most of my clients I work with the BodyCode and Emotion Code modality.
(14:28):
Sometimes after we've done a few of thosesessions, we might do a realigning and limiting
belief if they are still stuck.
Let me see, I have quite a few.
I'm trying to think of one in particular.
This one probably people would, I think, understand this particular one.
(14:50):
So it was a gentleman in his sixties, and hecame to me for a Body Code session.
He was having quite a lot of discomfort in hisneck, the back of his neck and down into his
shoulders.
He wasn't sleeping properly.
And so we did a—he signed—I have packages offive sessions and three sessions.
(15:11):
I think he signed up for the three-sessionpackage.
We were releasing these balls of negativeenergy out of his subconscious.
And one of the areas I always ask about when werelease the trapped emotion, I say, well, now
do we need to do more?
And I ask by muscle testing.
So I'm connected with the client'ssubconscious.
(15:31):
I'm doing the muscle test.
I'm like their proxy.
So that's why I can do it over Zoom as well as,you know, it's the same process whether it's in
person, over Zoom, or over the phone.
And so I found I asked the question, well, dowe need to know more after we had released this
particular and I'm trying to remember exactlywhat it was.
I think it was resentment or it was, yeah, justpanic, fear was coming up.
(15:55):
So I said, what do we need to know more about?
And then I always find out what age the personwas when that emotion got trapped.
And so just a reminder, he was in his 60s.
And so when I found that this fear, thisparticular trapped emotion, it was back when he
(16:16):
was in his mid-40s.
And so I said, no.
That might mean something to you.
He goes, yeah.
It does.
I lost my job.
I lost a job.
Was, you know, one of them, you know, his wifewas working, but he felt he was the main
breadwinner for his family.
He got let go from a position, so he was reallyfeeling awful about the fact that this
(16:41):
happened.
There was, you know, it wasn't his fault, butthat was just whatever the company was doing.
And so we released the fear.
We released the depression.
We released the resentment that had come.
Now this is 20-odd years later, and he didn'trealize he was still holding on to those
(17:02):
emotions that were still there in his body.
And so once we released them, he had no morepain or discomfort.
I just, I wanna unfold that.
So someone loses their job in their 40s.
They're now in their 60s, and they're stillholding on to those emotions from back then.
(17:25):
Yeah.
Yeah.
That is so interesting.
So, you know, there's one question I have abouta mother who is pregnant.
Have you found that there have been clientsthat, through the womb, there were things that
they already had going on from that time priorto birth?
(17:47):
I'm so glad you asked that question.
Yes, because one of the trapped emotions iscalled prenatal.
So it means something was going on with yourmother when she was pregnant with you, but you
got the trapped emotion.
So you would never know that unless you weredoing a Body Code, Emotion Code session.
So we find those prenatal trapped emotions.
(18:09):
And usually, I'll say, alright.
Well, you know, do you know?
You know, was there any talk about what wasgoing on in your family when your mother was
with you, and then usually the story comes outthat, you know, she was in an abusive
relationship or she was in a car accident orsomething fairly serious, of course, happened.
(18:30):
So I always, you know, I say, really?
I don't think that's fair.
You know, it was an emotion that the mother wasexperiencing, but the baby got it trapped in
their subconscious.
But that is just one of the definitions and oneof the types of trapped emotions.
And as I mentioned earlier, there are differenttypes.
(18:53):
And so yes, definitely it can happen.
So I love that we're having that conversationbecause, you know, a lot of us hear about how
people, when they're, women when they'repregnant, they'll play certain music or they'll
read to the baby, you know, in the womb.
So the same thing happens for anything that'semotionally happening outside of that person
(19:14):
who's carrying the infant, and that can beaffecting the baby as well.
That's really so then you would let, so as anadult, you wouldn't even know maybe that there
was something going on during that time.
And that's something you would want to lookinto.
Absolutely.
Yes.
So, you know, if you're having any kind ofdiscomfort or it doesn't necessarily need, you
(19:40):
know, it can be physical.
It can be emotional.
If you're feeling depressed, if you'rewondering why you're not in joy because that's
what we're here on earth to be joyful.
If your joy isn't at the joy meter, that is thebest for you.
You wanna ask some questions.
You wanna find out why that's happening.
(20:02):
I love that we're having this conversation.
So I would love for you to tell me who would beyour perfect client avatar.
That's not what I meant.
I know the perfect client avatar, but when theywant to work with you, would that be online, in
person, or at your center?
How does that work?
(20:22):
Well, I have clients where we work one-on-one.
If they live close to where I live, then theycan come to my home office, and the process is
still the very same.
The majority of my clients, though, are throughZoom, over Zoom.
Now, when we talked about energy earlier, people ask me, well, how can you do it over the
phone?
Or how I do have clients as well.
(20:43):
We just do the session over the phone.
And they'll say, well, how can you do that?
You know, you're on the West Coast of Canada, and this person is in another country or on the
East Coast of the United States.
And I'm like, well, it's energy, and it goeseverywhere.
So it's the same process.
And I'll say to a client after we've done oursession, I'll say, how do you feel?
(21:05):
And they'll go, well, I just feel lighterbecause we've, you know, in one session, which
could be 45 to 60 minutes, we can release up to20 balls of what I call trapped emotions, or
balls of negative energy.
We can release those out of the subconscious, but we're also releasing them out of your body.
And that's what's really important because youdon't want those balls of negative energy in
(21:28):
your body.
They are going to create disease.
So, you know, most of my clients, when I askthem that question, they feel lighter.
Sometimes they'll say, oh, when we release acertain trapped emotion, they'll say, oh, I
just felt that.
Or I'll say, you know, there's something inyour solar plexus or in the chakras.
We deal with the chakras as well as themeridians.
(21:50):
And as we're releasing these balls of negativeenergy.
Let somebody know that this is something thatthey'd wanna seek out.
I like that.
I love that you shared that because so manytimes we want things for our spouses that
they're like, that's not for me.
What are you talking about?
True.
Right.
So you have several practitioners, and are eachof your practitioners, do they specialize in
(22:13):
specific modalities?
Energy work, I mean, when it comes to energywork, one of the things that I have found is
there's a lot of breathwork these days, which Ilove because I do feel that when you're really
paying attention that you do tend to breathevery shallow, especially when under stress or
any kind of duress.
(22:34):
So tell our audience what would your offer beto them?
First, before we go there, let's just find outis there anything, if there were anything that
you wanted to leave our audience with and say, this is the one thing that I really would love
to leave with you before we go, what would thatbe?
(22:55):
I do believe that, % believe that.
That is so something that I do, I'd say, nope,I have questions too.
So let's tell our audience, if they areinterested in just finding out more and really
being able to work with you, how do they findyou, how do they do business with you?
I do want to ask a question about the BodyCode.
(23:16):
So the Body Code session, how do you determinethe Body Code?
Like what, how do you, can we unfold that justa little bit so people understand what that
means?
Okay.
So I just want to make sure for the audiencethat is actually listening to this in a car, it
is thehealinginstitute.com, and it's, so I wantto make sure that's your website, correct?
(23:39):
