Huey (00:01):
This is gonna be so much fun. This is going to be the worst day of your life and bringing nunchuks.
Lynxi (00:49):
Hey y'all. Welcome back to the Boondocks Podcast where today we are doing the season two recap. extravaganza. But before that, how y'all living? Hey,
Tiara (01:10):
man. Happy New Year. What is it? Oh, god, it's halfway through July.
MJ (01:20):
Yeah. Holy shit. How did that happen? We're about to go back on lockdown. Look, right.
Tiara (01:25):
Okay, I can Yeah, I am. I'm really glad like I went to Portland this weekend. And it was not entirely surprising that Portland, for the most part was exactly how I would imagine Portland, that
outside people were walking around, everything was fine. No big deal. The second you walked inside anywhere. Everybody was messed up. And like, you know, except for a few people. But there was no
like, mandate. It's just they did it. Which is not what happens here right now.
MJ (02:00):
California is like do what, especially. I can't tell you how many times this is what I've heard. I'm fully vaccinated. I've done my part, you know? Like, what do you have somebody under 12 in your
household? Because that's what my concern is? Yes, were four of us are vaccinated, but not my 10 year old, you know, so, and they're the ones once again, I think universal. Tell us something like
y'all think y'all had it figured out. Haha. Now I'm going to go ahead and unfortunately, I'm going to attack the ones that are like, you know, germs, spreaders times 1000 yet with our little kids,
Tiara (02:34):
my my nephews live in a town that is pretty. The mayor believes in the whole queue and on conspiracy and is very well supported in that city. I'll just put it that way. I think it's a city.
It's a town. But my nephews are my older nephew was already vaccinated. He's 20. My younger nephew who's 15 has not been able to talk his grandmother into allowing him to do it. So like literally, I
spent a good chunk of today with a friend of mine getting articles that could be seen as from white or more right sided media that still supports our point. Like nothing from the CDC cuz she doesn't
believe in them. And now on Facebook, right? Well, definitely that but I mean, like, Wall Street Journal. Oh, that's a right leaning newspaper in New York Times. Anything that has msnbc or NPR or
anything like that? If the right think that it's liberal propaganda, this person will not.
MJ (03:40):
Listen. So I know Jackson's dead, because we were sending them to a stem class or week, a stem camp called a canceled it. Oh, yeah. Um, so yeah, I told him, I said, you know, they canceled it. And
I said, we can do it online. And he's like, No, I'm good. And he goes, so for the rest of the summer, I'm just staying at home and you can wear masks, maybe he's just like, I don't want to go
anywhere. You know, um, and he's going into his last year of elementary school. I mean, fifth grade. The older one doesn't want to go back. He doesn't give a shit. He's like, eighth grade, eighth
grade. I don't care. Um, he doesn't want to go back. He's like, I'm okay with learning at home. Um, so I'm interested to see, you know, cuz that'd be your slipping back to work. What this week or next
week? This week after day after tomorrow, oh, this was some shit. Yeah. Yeah. It's supposed to be. Um, I don't know. We'll see.
Tiara (04:44):
I'm not sad that I'm not gonna be teaching this year, or this upcoming year. I'm very much looking forward to having a sabbatical.
MJ (04:56):
He's gonna go back to school too. So he's gonna have that Plus podcast and all I don't know where he gets
Tiara (05:06):
I don't know where I get mine because I barely can handle what I'm doing right now.
MJ (05:12):
Back when he told me next week, when, like, I don't know what next week means I was like, when he's on next week. I was like, when? Um, but yeah, so he'll be back. I don't know what, with seven or
new some being up or recall us having 41 opponents. That's funny guy. Who's
Tiara (05:37):
that? Arnold Schwarzenegger replace?
MJ (05:41):
Well, yeah,
Tiara (05:42):
it's like that where there was like the porn star and the actor and Oh, yeah. Mary Carrie.
MJ (05:47):
Yeah, it's running again. He's running again. Oh, Gary Coleman who ran that year, too. Yeah. This one actually has I think, Well, except for Marie Curie. And probably a couple other like pillars.
It seems like for the most part. good amount of them are really politicians, which I don't know if that's a good part or not. I don't have that much of a problem with Newsome. But, you know, the non
melanated privilege do so. There we go. He's up for that recall.
Tiara (06:18):
One of one of the reasons I'm rather grateful that I'm not teaching is that I'm going to miss out. I'm not going to miss all of the movies that I end up having to watch because that's what the
class picked.
MJ (06:32):
Yeah, well, they make most of the movies for adults anyway, because there was so many jokes that my kids weren't getting in. Oh, yeah. We're watching the other night. We were like, you guys are
not getting these jokes. Oh, we watched Kung Fu Panda with my son. Oh, yeah. And he was so not getting some of the best jokes in there. Um, but that's what they do. How's the kids gonna see it? If the
parents don't want to go spend the money to watch it so they have to piece was somehow easy. We're so lucky.
Lynxi (06:59):
I love kid movies. I used to be the one like, Hey, guys, you want to watch my little pony? And my nieces would be like, Seriously? Seriously?
MJ (07:09):
That's like me, one of my favorite movies is not animated. But this little rap. Yeah, I love little rascals. I got $1 I dad $1 Hey, I love it. I love it.
Tiara (07:22):
I still do that real life. Have you guys ever googled yourself? Yeah. Oh, yeah, usually it's like podcast stuff or like an old MySpace picture or something. It'll come out a MySpace.
MJ (07:35):
Oh my god, I wish they would wipe that. I don't want anybody to ever be clicking on I mean that's how
Tiara (07:44):
I would like to find my own password or figure out how to get in there because that is how Dean and I met it would be kind of cool to like, look back at that shit.
Unknown (07:50):
Yeah, yeah, it's not the same anymore. You can log into my space but it's not gonna be logged in because Justin Timberlake bought it and then he sold it in his
music sharing wow
I wouldn't when I googled myself a few years back it still have my pictures. I'm sorry. went on to delete my accounts. I thought I already had but yeah, it doesn't look nowhere near like, it wasbefore. It's no
MJ (08:17):
wedding pictures. I was the last time it was on I was like, Oh my God, my top like 13 or whatever the fuck it was, like dying. And then like, overlay or whatever you suppose? Yeah.
Tiara (08:29):
we all we all were like mini coders back then.
MJ (08:32):
Syrian like I get it now. And I'm like, that's what my space was. You had to put so much work into it so much more than I mean, she you don't even do anything your Facebook now other than just
like filling information. But I know right? I don't want anybody No, no, you know, don't. Okay.
(08:57):
I haven't changed. Like my song of the week. But instead of talking about it on my space, I talked about it on the podcast.
Tiara (09:02):
Sorry, Dean just googled himself and it's just podcasting stuff and his Facebook. You can by merging Maven or swap radio, calm. Nice little plug. Yeah, y'all got me googling myself over here.
Wow, it's suggested that I spelled My name wrong. I like that. Oh, boy. I'm the fourth picture in so I don't think I have much to worry.
Dean (09:38):
I mean, there's, there's Yeah, apparently Well, there's a drummer named Dean Giles.
Tiara (09:42):
There's an attorney and tr Walker in Florida,
Dean (09:45):
and apparently I'm marrying someone named Corinne Ellison.
MJ (09:51):
All right, that Yeah, wait, she's such a great person. Right. Now it's funny because my name is so specifically spelled Laughing off comes up but me, like in mostly now it's definitely podcast.
But what's funny is my, my 13 year old he I don't know why he Googles himself and then Google's us, like, find out about
Dean (10:17):
Oh, Dean Giles in the 1940 census. Really? I'm a boomer
MJ (10:29):
with these, like weird things that have happened in his three videos on YouTube last week. And there's been a lot of, you know, people that I don't know if you guys have ever seen the picture
where the gentleman is taking a picture, and he's wearing like, beatnik kind of clothes, but the pictures from like, 20s or 30s. And they've like, put it through. Yeah, they put it through all kinds
of like, testing to make sure it has been photoshopped. And it hasn't held heavier. Some believe, I believe
Unknown (10:57):
the time the time traveling. Yeah. The time travel supposedly went back to the 1920s and found the black and white picture. He was in the background. And then they came out last year. tomball
Wait, he was lying. He wasn't really a time traveler. No shit, Sherlock.
MJ (11:13):
When I'm talking about is true, or the lady who was walking out of the oh my gosh, the company. I started with the D. Oh my god, I can't remember. But she was a factory worker. She was a factory
worker. And she was walking out and she was talking on the phone. Like a cell phone. Yeah. Yes, that one's real, too. I be our friend. That's a genius. He's like, Oh, no, like, really? He had like a
double doctorate in psych, you know? And he's going
Tiara (11:43):
into space next year. I mean, yeah, that's really cool. I was gonna say there are there are people who have advanced degrees on Ancient Aliens as well. So yes, that's my point, they got a
fucking degree in something that
MJ (12:00):
was UFO ologists.
Unknown (12:01):
If you follow
MJ (12:06):
this movie, it's totally you follow this? But, uh, no, he was saying that, because we're all energy. And so if it was time travel, something would have to replace. So if I went back in time,
something would have to be in my place. While I'm back in time. So one, one part particle of energy has to replace the other one. So that's why he was saying that he doesn't believe in time travel.
And I was like, but he's like, no.
Dean (12:37):
So all of the energy in the universe was already created. So the energy was there. It's just a matter of,
Unknown (12:43):
right. So but if you left, someone left this time, then that energy would be gone. So that energy would have to be replaced, because energy is not going to change because it's already there.
But it
Dean (12:51):
doesn't have to, but it doesn't have to take a human form necessarily. So it could just be anti
Unknown (12:59):
machine. It could be a car. It could it could be anything, but it just got to be something switching
Tiara (13:04):
today Today on Boondocks than physics podcast.
Dean (13:09):
Welcome to Neil deGrasse Tyson.
MJ (13:12):
Yeah, right. I would love to ask, like, I believe my friend. Like I think he's probably one of the smartest people that I know. But I just, I get to me. cores. That the second person that I know,
um, but I don't know if it's just the Aries part of me that wants to believe in that. Because I feel like it would explain a lot. Or if, you know, like I said, I'm just psychic. And I know that it's
really an existence. So I got the screws here. Yeah, so he's showing you guys the picture that he tells me as bulcock
Tiara (13:49):
putting my glasses back on.
MJ (13:53):
That's the lady. She's that's the police only using a cell phone. Oh, DuPont factory that's what they're working on. Oh, yeah. I've
Tiara (14:02):
seen the DuPont factory one. It's It looks like a brick cell phone. Why would a person go back in time with a phone that was from the 80s like my mom had one night To me, it will always be the
lawyers. What do you call it? The paralegal because my mom did paralegal work. So it was like the she had the big old fucking brick so that the lawyers could talk to her at any time.
MJ (14:25):
Yeah, yeah.
Tiara (14:26):
I literally held the charge for like 40 minutes.
MJ (14:30):
In Charlie Chaplin time, like she was. But there was a woman that's a woman that was walking and talking on his cell phone. When I was talking about was when she walked out the door, and she's
like, in a line of women, like they're all on lunch and they all walked out, checking out all the
Dean (14:53):
time where we had no satellites, no cell towers.
Unknown (14:57):
Yep, they can't even confirm work. lumbus was born out but we got time traveling. Okay, I'm telling you guys when maybe it was Nicolas Cage
Dean (15:08):
it took them back.
Tiara (15:11):
wasn't like Keanu Reeves accused of being like
Dean (15:18):
pictures of people from the old times that looked a lot like them. Yeah,
Tiara (15:23):
a lot. That is totally just like, back to that physics thing. Like there's there's only so much differentiation that can happen until it starts to repeat itself.
MJ (15:34):
And everybody has a doppelganger. He's had a few. I have
Tiara (15:38):
been told that that other people know people that look a lot like me, but I find that very hard to believe because I have never met
Dean (15:45):
the same place at the same time.
MJ (15:48):
Like Michael and Janet Jackson.
Tiara (15:52):
except for that one video.
MJ (15:55):
I hate it when people step out you kidding me? Like they're not the same person? Yeah, yeah. What does that mean? Oh, he's okay. Yeah, he's showing us the DuPont one screen share that one. Yes.
See? Look at our hands. That's probably her purse. Her Like, seriously.
Unknown (16:20):
It could be a walkie talkie could be I don't even think there was a walkie talkie then. She was thought she was talking her voice. She was like
MJ (16:30):
she she's not a time traveler. She looked like she's like 1980. But just
Tiara (16:37):
I love that the theory literally depends on a cell phone looking like it came from a time period where it is really obvious. There wasn't time travel. Otherwise, unless all of the shit that has
happened since then, is because they broke something.
MJ (16:55):
The big thing now is that we're in a simulator. That's like the biggest thing that I've seen. I think if we
Tiara (16:59):
were in a simulation, the world wouldn't be ending.
Dean (17:03):
People who are out of time, and it's like, you know, you know because like George Washington and Lincoln were best friends.
Tiara (17:10):
Have you Oh God, have you guys seen America the motion picture on Netflix? I
MJ (17:15):
started it and I felt like
Unknown (17:16):
oh my god.
Tiara (17:19):
I have laughed so hard every single day. It is the dumbest and smartest shit ever.
MJ (17:25):
Yeah, I was really excited when I thought I've we've been watching the circle and that that's what we've been watching. Well, I was started watching that but the circles but we've been watching on
Netflix thus far. But that isn't my playlist. god
Dean (17:37):
it's so funny. Yeah, it's made by the same people that make Archer
Tiara (17:42):
it's like half of the characters are in a maga fanfiction and then the other half of the characters are like the black and brown people
Dean (17:56):
it's the the people of color and and the women who bring the reality to
MJ (18:03):
them yeah. Yeah, it's
Tiara (18:06):
It was hilarious. Not gonna say what was happening at the time we were watching the first one but like there were no phones being looked at the first time we watched it. We were staring at the
TV which does not happen. Ah, so it was it was a very good laugh.
MJ (18:22):
Well, that is a must watch to everybody. I think so get on it. You know?
Unknown (18:30):
So let's let's let's let's talk about our last season. Hmm, yes,
MJ (18:36):
can leave it confusing already.
Tiara (18:38):
Right. Let's start off by doing a shout out to our amazing lovely substitute hosts demand and Drake for coming and co hosting On nights when somebody needed to take a night off. definitely
appreciate that. Our Patreon we have two recurring Patreon Patrons Sarah Becca and squirrel thank you guys so much I love you. If you if you want to be our our patron and like listen to these long,
rambling episodes that are actually a lot more than what you probably are listening to right now. It's really easy to do it and we usually have twice the content if not more on our Patreon page. So go
check that out. Uh, you know Dean's the stats guy. So let me give you the stats for right now. We are about 80 downloads away from 3000 our Twitter we have 392 followers. Facebook has 164 Instagram
115 tik tok 659. So apparently Diem on tik tok is very popular.
Dean (19:51):
Good job at pissing people off.
Tiara (19:53):
Right? We should well we'll talk about that at probably in place of some stuff at the end. Yeah. Yeah, but that that's kind of what happened thus far. For. I don't know, people hearing us
listening to us paying attention to us or whatever. I'm telling you friends. Do you know any of the demographics? Cuz I know that's something that you, you take a look at. You're muted.
Dean (20:23):
Yeah, I'm actually I can, because I
Tiara (20:26):
think that's really cool.
Dean (20:28):
Yeah. I mean, I know we are, funnily enough, kind of big in South Africa.
Tiara (20:36):
Yeah. I saw that a lot of people on our Facebook page, South Africa actually, like
Dean (20:45):
analytics here. So yeah, um,
Unknown (20:49):
to do to do,
Tiara (20:50):
like, when we do, how are we now you talked about like, which one was our most popular episode? maybe hear anything like that?
Dean (20:56):
Yeah. So let's see, at any one and a half percent from the United States. 4.2% from Canada. 4.15 from the UK, 1.69% in South Africa, 1.2% in Spain, 1.16% and Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico, and it's
almost almost 1% in Mexico. We got Ghana, we got Germany, Netherlands. In fact, it was funny get Netherlands where like, I just got a thing. from chargable. Today, we were like number four in the
Netherlands. Wow. Americans want to get the fuck out. Lots of lots of a number of African countries. 1234567. Yeah. So and then we've got Russia point 2% in Russia.
Tiara (21:58):
Like, there's probably too much queer content on this show for for Russia.
Dean (22:03):
So yeah, maybe that's
MJ (22:06):
women. We have an opinion. So Oh,
Dean (22:10):
yeah. Here's what's funny is our biggest state that we're listened in. Is Texas. Oh, the North Carolina. I did not expect that. Then Illinois, then. Then California then Washington.
MJ (22:21):
Wow. Okay. Oh, yeah. I'm in Tahoe, Texas. that exists. Yeah. Yeah. pay taxes. Okay. Hey, probably Austin, Texas. No, that's just like my guess. But yeah,
Dean (22:38):
I mean, right now. I mean, see, we've we've had a or die trying. We've had a total of 188 downloads. And the first 30 days was 68. I mean, it's kind of fluctuates. Tom Sara? Sure. You know,
we're like 41 for the first 30 days. Thank you for not snitching. 54 Stinkmeaner 52. Yeah,
Tiara (23:02):
it's actually pretty consistent. Yeah. How many in the first 30 days? And it picks up eventually? Yeah, that's all for the most.
MJ (23:11):
Thank you to everybody. I love like bats. When have you looked at ours? I'm like, shut up. South Korea, like are they allowed to?
Tiara (23:24):
Wait, there was sorry, there was one more go down a little bit more. So the episode that came out yesterday, as of this recording had 717 downloads. I think that's pretty cool. Like that's one
day. And we don't know what our usual is. But that's feels like a big chunk of an average of in the 50s.
MJ (23:44):
Yeah, yeah, that is awesome. Shout out. We appreciate it. Very much.
Unknown (23:49):
Thank you.
Tiara (23:54):
Oh, Roy. So episode one, or die trying.
MJ (24:00):
So
Tiara (24:01):
this is the episode where Granddad forces the kids to sneak into the movies. And all the fun that that entailed. We talked about a car opening our opening clip today was from that episode. Yes,
that's true. Yeah. It's okay.
MJ (24:29):
Um, yeah. So what are some things that you liked about that episode? Was episode was it? So? Oh, yeah. Like,
Dean (24:44):
the I love the innocence of jasmine.
MJ (24:48):
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'll be honest, she kind of got them on our food. Oh, my God.
Dean (24:54):
She's so sheltered.
MJ (24:56):
Yeah, um, but I like the As, like I said, then I'd like real plain, I know that it definitely has some things in it that people could get, like, I don't think it could come out now. And people not
be in a huff and puff about it, even though the shit was funny because it's true. Like not it's not like a future or like a real representation of all black people. Because I've said before, we've
said this before, not in a monolith, right, but it comes from somewhere. And it comes from some sort of, you know, some sort of truth, to be able to see Kevin Hart go from that this is where you have
now that's also, you know, inspiring to me. So that's just what I think about it. But I get the whole you know, the whole idea behind the episode. And why, you know, it was was used because I think it
was definitely probably the last biggest. Or, like Toby says, like, coolness type of movie that came out. So yeah, I get it. But oh, I think it was a good i thought was a funny episode. And if I
recall correctly, I didn't have like too much. Once, one one of the few times to say about it, other than like, what I just shared, you know my thing. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
Tiara (26:15):
I think we discussed the different stereotypes that we saw on it, and kind of just like, yeah, I as for making it today? I don't know, I feel like it's that that form of parody where you're
taking the stereotype, and you're, like, expanding it and making it bigger. And, like, that's, I don't think that will ever go away. I just think the subject matter changes as, like, social mores
change over time. So like, soul plan itself, I don't think could be made today. But the same kind of movie about something else. I feel it could be made.
MJ (26:55):
Yeah, I just feel like you would definitely have I mean, you have, you know, criticism of everything. Yes. Because people have the platform to do it. Deaf so I could see some part of black Twitter
being upset. I could see the woke, you know, individuals being upset. Not things like a lot of money. Because same ideas and same hate was given to like media, and
Tiara (27:16):
you know, and those, those scary movies or whatever, all of those parodies in like the early 2000s of all the horror movies or the teen date movies are like, yeah, it's dumb, gross humor, but
it appeals to it'll always appeal to somebody. But yeah,
MJ (27:33):
that is I love hearing movies still to this day. I love when the guy has to like, you know, I think his name's Chris, his real name. He had to like mess up hand. He was like, sir, Yeah, hello. Oh,
Tiara (27:45):
he was in shits Creek. He was the Yeah,
MJ (27:48):
yeah. The mayor.
Dean (27:49):
Yeah. Chris Elliott
MJ (27:51):
Elliott. Yeah, I'm like his first TV show on Fox like way, way, way, way. Way back in the day. Yeah.
Tiara (27:59):
Fox was still good. Sorry.
MJ (28:02):
Yeah. Sort of when they weren't scared. Um, but yeah, we heard those mashed potatoes batshit crack me up cuz I was like, what's the bat? And Tori Spelling was on there. Yeah, that's I liked you
like that. cuz I've always liked like,
Tiara (28:21):
the hand
MJ (28:21):
naturally in my face. One of my favorite movies like, oh, national iTunes. Yeah, yeah. Any of them. Europe is probably my least favorite. But
Tiara (28:32):
gotta watch Christmas vacation every year.
MJ (28:35):
I mean, I love that I could literally watch them back the back. Especially Vegas vacation. My shit. That was so funny. But yeah, Chevy Chase to me. It's just a certain type of, you know, I mean,
yes, he's such a dick. Especially in older age, I hear that.
Tiara (28:56):
And, you know, hey, I hope that I live long enough to be old and grumping. And, and like, out of touch with modern society. I am okay with that. If I live that long, like to be perfectly. I
MJ (29:12):
would set up and roll up one week.
Tiara (29:14):
I don't want to be like challenging. Anyway. Oh, yeah. She's like nine days. That's too much. That's no, but she
Dean (29:22):
is one of those. He's one of those women aren't funny people.
MJ (29:25):
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And it's like you are only funny when it's written for you. Like I'm thinking like, Clark, you're finding when you're Parker's wall. Three Amigos, I guess but I like tried
watching it recently. And I was like, all right, like it was probably I think funnier for the time. Agreed. Even though Dean really likes that
Dean (29:43):
movie. I love that. He's like beer.
MJ (29:48):
He left to go across the street or he probably be charming him right now. He Um, but yeah, maybe it's a guy thing. Maybe that's maybe the humor last year. Yeah, so, but I don't know, Lindsay, what
do you think about this episode? We have so many will this will be like the episode,
Lynxi (30:10):
right? I mean, I'll just go quick. My favorite part is kind of like this relationship between Granddad and Reilly and we kind of see like how they are negative influences on one another that
comes up quite a bit during the season. You know, who's the adult who's the little one and all that fun stuff? Yeah, I
Tiara (30:28):
forgot about that part. But like all of this was because Granddad was too cheap to pay. So he wanted to sneak in all that food and stuff.
MJ (30:36):
And this is, I think, the first episode where you really see like grandpa's like, he is who he is a little shit. He may be sneaky, but he kind of like, bat BET about him in a way that adults
admire, you know, the innocence that kids have, you know, we wish that we still have that belief in you know, we weren't we weren't jaded by life. A grandpa appreciated that and you start to see that,
like you said, Lindsay was definitely a theme for the season, but I think it definitely started this this first episode. You know, they were partners in crime. And it was like, it is what it is, you
know, like, hey, these are the reasons why I'm gonna do it. This is why I'm gonna do it and right, like, cuz I'm not gay. You know? Whatever, right? Yeah, that's very true. Yeah. Okay,
Tiara (31:26):
so Episode Two, we have a clip from you rolling with us. Sir. This is Tom Sarah and usher. After a chance meeting with Usher at a restaurant puts a strain on Tom and Sarah's marriage Tom turns
to a pimp names like that to help him rescue his relationship. Every time I say it, I get better at saying it.
MJ (31:50):
together it's easily one of my favorite episodes. Yeah. Put me flip back you say together it's not just a pimp, not just it's just like back No, but you know, even though it's coming from a pimp
is like this little nuggets of you know, of knowledge are pretty relevant. And, and actually, despite him, you know, chasing down his holes and all those, but it actually helps to make the people that
he's giving me advice to better or allow them to see something that they weren't seeing before. So for, you know, for Tommy was like, Hey, stop being a bitch. He wants to grow to be taken, because
that shows go sweeper real quick bit just
Tiara (32:37):
bitched as no laughing matter.
MJ (32:39):
Yeah, you know, and so, like, you know, he basically told him, like, Man up, we do what you got to do, if you believe if that's doors, you know, he didn't say if you love her, but he was like,
that's a bit get her,
Tiara (32:48):
basically. So yeah, and I mean, I would not, obviously use the same language that that he would, but
MJ (32:55):
it's not it's
Tiara (32:56):
Yeah, it's not terrible advice. Yeah. Yeah. It's nice. Your wife seems like she's bored out of her mind. There might be a reason for that. Are you doing anything to make her not bored? No, then
you better go and fucking fix it because that's your fault. Right?
MJ (33:15):
I mean, he basically just said if you don't keep her in line, another dudes coming in grabber and that same thing is like kind of pimp mentality like, your top girl on the corner or whatever it
may be. You don't take care of her and somebody else gets in her ear then she's taking right away. So it was that but I mean, the funniest thing was when you know Riley says that that's what's hot in
the streets. You know you're getting you're getting your girl taking my Usher. That's what we do. I could see this little Wayne or somebody but Usher like that funniest part of the episode other than
him singing Sarah smile.
Tiara (33:48):
Yeah. Alright, before we move on, then, Lindsey, do you have anything you want to add about Episode Two?
Lynxi (33:55):
My favorite part was how the pimp named slicked back has a very technical operational center in his home and quiet storm wanted the new map so she said computers were slow. We love it. And I
also love that Tom manned up and finally slept that pitch Archer. Yep,
Tiara (34:14):
agreed. 100%
MJ (34:17):
Yeah, that was funny. I still think I want my name to be what was the name but quiet storm
Dean (34:22):
by sweetest taboo
MJ (34:24):
sweetest Oh yeah, and then place Sunday in the back line. Yeah, that would be I think I am by myself that was searched calling myself MJ you now may call me I like that. Let's be fire.
Tiara (34:40):
Alright, so Episode Three. Thank you for not snitching
Dean (34:45):
boy says really sexy rate.
Tiara (34:52):
Bunch of home invasions has Woodcrest in a panic when Riley witnesses the theft of granddad's precious car Dorothy will He snitch would you like about
MJ (35:06):
it? This way
Tiara (35:08):
I remember this being a really lively conversation. Oh, yeah. And now looking back at it we had a lot of a lot of clips that we wanted to talk about about that one.
Dean (35:20):
So that's the that's the bluetooth headset one that was
Tiara (35:25):
really sexy right now while he was in the car
Dean (35:28):
with Rami.
MJ (35:30):
Really good. I mean, every time I hear his voice, I'm like, yeah, Charlie, but I think I know that I think Lindsay had a lot of good nuggets, if I remember correctly.
Lynxi (35:46):
I honestly don't remember. Yeah, I remember like the store robbing and stuff and like trying to solve a crime but the actual episode. I don't remember much. I just grew up in the hood. Y'all.
Tiara (35:59):
Still on this bike? And yeah, Granddad got mad because Riley wouldn't snitch because even because it was affecting him. And then Riley's bike got stolen. And everybody was laughing because it
was, you know, basically the exact same thing by the exact same guys too. And just basically, like it was, it was an episode where I remember, like, we had a conversation about how much of an asshole
these guys were and how little they actually cared about this kid. And just kind of used him for because they knew he wouldn't say anything.
Dean (36:34):
And like, they figure out who wasn't being and because it was the dude. Yeah. And then they got off scot free. Yeah. Granddad at the end is he's walking around. He goes, they did it. Yep. Cops
are this neighborhood watch.
Tiara (36:53):
neighborhood watch. That's right. All the guns. Yeah.
Dean (36:55):
Marion Ross. Oh, yeah, the two ladies.
MJ (36:59):
Yeah, I mean, it definitely spoke upon. So we've been watching once again, you get into one thing on frickin YouTube and it shows all of them. So we stumbled upon a judge Mathis episode. And like
it's been showing us nothing but like for two days. But it was just one episode. And he was just he was telling the squirrel and it's so funny because he's so passive aggressive with it. You sound a
score, like, Oh, you heard she's like, yeah, I'm hurt. I'm Street. We don't snitch and he's like, well, then good. So then you do over the money because you don't snitch because, you know, it was just
so funny how you use the whole street. He goes, you guys have a messed up snitching is when you don't snitch on your boy, or, you know, you're involved. It's not just like, Oh, I don't I don't want to
snitch when somebody killed old lady across the street. You know, and it was just really funny how he had, you know, a comment on it. But then how he also used term mentality to basically go well,
you're guilty then now you over the $5,000, or whatever it was. Um, so it kinda reminds me like, the mentality now is like, I'm not gonna snitch, but I'm gonna take care of myself, but then that just
kind of keeps going and doesn't really, you know, and rightly so.
Tiara (38:08):
But there's also the part that like the the, who's it, Remy. And the third and Edwin, sort of the third, they're only targeting houses that have the security system, that is the one solar
security system are not the only ones that don't, so that they can buy more security systems and make more money and then they accidentally, Rob granddad's, which is which has one solar security
system, which was why Eventually, he was like, No, they did.
MJ (38:40):
Like they were the dumbest, smart. Like, he like the dumbest. And yeah, yeah, fives and say a whole lot about, you know, what you have to do to get into the service. I'm not saying all people are
dumb, but you don't necessarily have to be smart. Yeah, yeah. You know,
Dean (39:03):
I've had conversations about that about how my view of, of Combat Arms especially because that's, you know, Combat Arms and cook are the lowest scores. You can have to get in Yeah, yeah. So
yeah. And so, there are a lot of, like I said, when I when I went in when I was stationed in Fort Riley, I was the only white guy and an eight man room. So same thing with my buddy Jason. He was he
was also the only white guy in history. So yeah, it was, you know, a lot of the black schools are underfunded. And therefore, you know, I mean, that you can BET that systemic racism right there.
That's the whole I mean, if you can view that all, if you look in the military, you can see it right there, right there. We don't ever let them recruit on at our campus. Do they? Are they allowed to
come in and do as fab was that? That's the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery there.
Unknown (40:09):
You know, we don't let a military come in and recruit at all. Okay, students like reached out to them and goes out and then they're like, they don't do college based we don't we don't do we
don't have ROTC. Good.
MJ (40:24):
It's just the way to be like we're not, you know, it's this. It's definitely an option for you know, for some people that are in extreme situations, especially if they utilize it the right way.
Yeah.
Dean (40:33):
But I went in, for us, I came, I came from a poor background. But I, you know, I had high as vam score, I could have done anything, but I wanted something that was I could, where I could get
college money and get out as soon as possible. So I went in, I signed up for two years, the only thing you can sign up for two years for artillery, infantry, or cook. And that's it.
MJ (40:58):
And then, for people for black man, especially, I think, well, anybody that's people of color, they are definitely looking at more than two years, because they want to get out. They want to see
the world, they want to be able to take care of themselves, and then be able to spend a little money back or whatnot. What ends up happening nine times out of 10 is that for years, sevens and eight,
and they hear certain things well, and then next thing, you know, they're in life. And somebody that we know that's a friend, he is miserable. But he doesn't have any other option that 38 years old.
Dean (41:28):
You know, if it stated I mean, what, what could I have done with my time in the artillery? cannon?
MJ (41:37):
Yeah, he's in like, that's what he does now. Oh, God, like the recruiting office and stuff. But he's always so stressed. Like, I'm like, don't you work for the like, really? Like, you're not in
there. And I'm not saying that he's
Tiara (41:48):
got a job where he is talking to kids that, you know, five out of 10 of them might die in a war someday. Like, that's
MJ (41:54):
got to be stressful in itself. He gets used to talk to the kids like him. So he gets used for that. So yeah, he was in like Delaware when he was like, there's, there's like four of them. You know,
but I'm saying began to do his four or five years there and raises half black half white kids there during Trump era. You know, they just moved to Vegas. And he's like, man, I cannot wait. He has, I
think he has three more years. And he's like, this is where we're gonna be. This is what we're doing. You know. So, just to hear from somebody who was like, I'm winning 18. He went into, you know,
Desert Storm and stuff, but just see him now. And he's basically like, I have to have something else to do in three years. Because he says he hasn't prepared to do anything else, which is kind of
crazy, but so won't. My boys, you have two choices. Knock Knock, knock and even video. That's their choice for children or that's the choice that their children make. But Alright, let's,
Tiara (42:57):
let's move on to Episode Four. Stinkmeaner Strikes Back, you got one press.
Unknown (43:03):
I'm starting to feel like shemar Moore up in here. Boy, let's get some musical turn on the pod. Let's get on as face.
Tiara (43:12):
This is the episode where granddad's nepos nemesis, Colonel h Stinkmeaner returns from hell to seek vengeance on the Freeman's and picks an unlikely vessel in poor Tom. So Tom is possessed by
the spirit of Stinkmeaner in this one which is just great because we finally saw Tom like you know, loosen up a little bit and
MJ (43:33):
become an apple but become a complainer. Oh, grandpa had everything messed up though. I space anything my iPod, the
Tiara (43:45):
iPod in the AI space this way. So they brought they talk back about our talks about nigga moments again. And just I think the there's one part that I remember when Tom comes home and is
flirting with his wife, and she has no idea that it's not Tom and like, I don't know how, how cringy I felt about it at the time, but like the more I think about that when it's like that, there was no
consent there. Ah, what else happened in that episode?
Dean (44:32):
While they they fought they all had to fight Stinkmeaner and then finally they tied him down to Riley's bed. Oh yeah. And they did the whole exorcism. Yeah. And they brought Ruckus in as the
exorcist Jesus.
MJ (44:47):
Yeah, he's not evil. Let's let him
Tiara (44:52):
Oh, right. And then I like this quote that is the nigga stolen him. As long as he's black and breathing. He's got it, nigga. Wait. Stinkmeaner just basically like, if you black, that's who you
are. Right? no way around that. So as much as I think, like a big part of that was supposed to be like power white people can look at you no matter how Uncle Tom you get Tom. You know, they're always
gonna look at you as being a nigga first.
MJ (45:22):
One drop. Oh, yeah. Well, and it's funny because that would kind of foreshadow how he reacted when he got his you know ancestry report though because he believed one drop make sure you know, you
will always ours though. for him. He got that percentage. And that was like, Oh, you know, so you know, seeing the whole season together. Now you see how the new
Tiara (45:51):
but you think and lens.
Lynxi (45:54):
I'm this app. I like that we got to see Ghostface killah. That was a fuse guide. And we got a little wink to Chappelle show, which I think was also taking off around then. Okay, and it's a hell
of a drug. So like a lot of cute little winks in that episode, exorcise by the shining vibes.
MJ (46:18):
Yeah, a lot of fun there. Yeah. And that's funny, because the things that I'm sure people are picking up on Now, that may be very, you know, very minute part of the watch the watching or the fans
picked up on back then. I'm watching it with different eyes now that I watched it. Absolutely. And, yeah, that's, yeah.
Tiara (46:45):
Yeah, we like, even as we watch stuff, like, well, because I don't know how many times Dean ends up watching each episode as he gets everything ready. But I know, I probably watch it like six
or seven times. And every time I'm watching it, every time I'm repeating it, I'm seeing something new. That like, Oh, that was a great joke, or like, Did you see what was written on blah, blah, blah,
blah, blah. Like it just? There's so many little things everywhere?
MJ (47:14):
Yeah, it's like m&ms music to me. I've been listening for 20 plus years, and I still hear shit and go, did you hear what he said? Let me rewind it, hear what he said, you know, and that's that
kind of thing, creativity, you know, he's loose no matter what. And then these writers and these creators of the show, there was so much behind it, I think, for knowing the whole story now, and
especially ending with these episodes that were, you know, banned back then you really have a different perspective of Aaron McGruder his motivation. And what probably led him to why this show is
still so important, and why so many people I think, like now it's starting to become a thing again, for like a generation of probably 16 to 24 year olds now. And maybe even younger, I'm seeing a lot
of videos lately about it. So more people are like, when is the new episodes coming on? So it's kind of like this rebirth that, you know, no matter what you like I said, you still you see, you see it
differently, I think depending on where you are in life, but it's still so relevant. And like I said, I think that was all motivated by his experience and everything that he went through. Plus, the
people that were on the show, not not take anything away from the voice actors. They definitely helped to make the show what so
Tiara (48:28):
I would love to, like if we ever got the chance to actually interview him. I would love to ask him how, how he saw how he sees things now and like, because back then it was obvious that he had
a very pessimistic view of where black culture was going, basically, like, Does he still have that same negative view? Or does he feel like it's like there's maybe a rebirth, because we've had a lot
of really amazing things like Kendrick Lamar winning like wasn't a Nobel or something and literature. Yeah, yeah. So like, and I don't know, I'm just I'm curious if any of the awesome achievements
that are that are really starting to pile up. And I hate to use the word mainstream, but black culture is starting to become a little more mainstream and a little less.
MJ (49:23):
Black like that always has been let's be honest right now, though. Yes, it is. Yeah, we are.
Dean (49:31):
I think, yeah, I think there's been enough pushback that now black culture is coming out with black faces.
Tiara (49:38):
Yeah. Like there's that was the what was that show?
MJ (49:46):
Fuck
Unknown (49:47):
What's his name? Childish Gambino? I was just on the cover.
Yeah, Atlanta.
MJ (49:54):
On the same mind check cuz I was just gonna say, I think that was amazing. It was very much like Aaron McGruder. But in a different way. Like, you know, I'm saying he says what he says through his
music, but I mean, this is America, I think was Come on how powerful that was
Tiara (50:08):
still like, Yeah, that one.
MJ (50:11):
Yeah, but very sound, you know? Yeah. Like when he when Atlanta came out, I think that even was more so of the antithesis of, Oh, these content creators, you know, uh, you know, even though we
don't really like it, US and the other movie that he did the sun wherever we set the sunken place. Oh, yeah. Come on. Yeah. I literally have watched 25 minutes that movie and I was like, I can't, I
can't do it get out of like, I don't think we finished stuff either. And I was like,
Unknown (50:46):
yeah,
Tiara (50:47):
I'm a big fan of black led horror.
MJ (50:52):
Complete studio when she's helping people to create. So it's definitely I think that helped to, you know, Fox is always the one that takes the risk. And then it was on FX, but the fact that it was
so broadly loved, and criticized by everybody so positively criticized, but the reviews of it were so positive, that it'll open a lot of doors for others. So yeah, it's always gonna be you know, I
would love to see them kind of interview each other. Like, I think they would both be. That would be a pretty powerful kind of interview.
Dean (51:26):
They could think or make the remake that I want to remake the movie that I want to remake and I've already cried every time. I've brought it up on this show.
Tiara (51:37):
Every time this is now your turn on this one to bring it.
Dean (51:40):
I want to remake of Smokey and the Bandit. And I want the bandit to be played by Donald Glover right now.
MJ (51:49):
What was that? Oh, there you go. No, I can't I can't hear you.
Dean (51:52):
Yeah, so I want I want a remake of Smokey and the Bandit with Donald Glover. Playing the bandit. Janell Monet playing snowball the truck driver. Yeah. JOHN Goodman as smokey. Now that you bring
it, you're talking about it. I'm thinking Aaron McGruder should write it. Yeah. But the premises instead of having to drive beer from wherever they were to Texarkana. They're gonna have to bring
prescription drugs from Canada into the states.
MJ (52:26):
Good Ray. Ray, very strong prescription, you know, made me know marijuana. Yeah, um,
Tiara (52:36):
I mean, the way that things are going you got Republicans who are calling for legalization of marijuana. So that whole smuggling marijuana thing. I mean,
MJ (52:45):
hopefully that won't be relevant soon. Hello, boy. And you know why they're doing it because there's money in it.
Tiara (52:53):
And there's enough states that are going way, way, way way. Wait, wait, you're saying we need to charge this tax and we can do this and make money. Okay. Not only that, it's it's, you mean, we
haven't had an increase in all of the things that we were growing up What happened? Like, you know, crime and people being lazy and you know,
MJ (53:13):
blah blah. Oh, that bullshit, like commercial years ago with a girl just like sunken to the couch which is just like melted
Tiara (53:24):
and sometimes some of us actually like try to go for couch luck
MJ (53:31):
with your life Yeah. Like I smoke weed and pretty much do my job. One of my favorite strains right now is Jeff spicoli. And I loved it. The whole stigma out of it because everybody looks the goes,
you're stoner, you're a pothead, which I hate those names. But I'm like not nobody turns into a Jeff spicoli I'm not hitting myself over the head with the freakin ban. You know, just because, like
tomorrow You don't say it like that. Just because I do that doesn't mean that it one equals You know, one goes the other. Right, but you're right it's what they're saying. Somebody goes alright guys,
let's stop the bullshit we knew was bullshit. 60 years ago when we created the whole reefer madness you know, campaign. Let's go ahead and forget it. You guys all smoked some of you have gummies don't
lie right now like you guys. You don't say like your granddaughter gets you the gummies Stop it. Um, this is what we can do. Especially after the pandemic, we need money. This is without money instead
of putting people in jail. That's not working. But you know, what can Oh, wait, no, no, wait, wait,
Tiara (54:35):
wait, wait, they still want to put people in jail. They don't want to put people in jail because that means money for them. Jail does mean money for them for different reasons.
MJ (54:44):
The other thing and Rico against everybody if you hang out. So now they've taken it away though, from marijuana because they're going to be out or they can be an equity program or something next
week when you do that. Let's look at him for another way but Oh, wait, what are you saying? weed is a plant Nik rose and there's no oh, let's go ahead and legalize it. Like, come on. I think I think
Tiara (55:06):
the big eye opener for most people is when you put it in the context of why does Why is it completely okay and accepted to go home and drink multiple glasses of wine at night? After your kids
have gone to bed every single night basically and completely accepted
MJ (55:25):
as manic or an Ambien or, or something stronger?
Tiara (55:29):
Yeah, and abuse benzos and nobody really looks at you sideways. But you say yeah, smoke pot. How do you function in society?
MJ (55:36):
actually great. My kids raising their straight A students. And you know what I do? I'm a better mom because I don't strangle them right or, nor do I ignore them because I'm dealing with my own
shit, because I like to pop a white wine spritz spritz or Ambien every day. But yeah, it's definitely that and I think now that I'm not saying the opioid epidemic is over. But being that that is their
understanding that getting people off of opioids, and using CBD or CBN, or some form of cannabis THC actually helps. Now, you know, now that you don't want your daughter, and you know, your daughter
was kicked out of Harvard, because she was fucking opioid. Now she smoked a little weed or she got some gummies. And she's okay. Now you're okay with it wasn't anything to be worried about? So
regardless of however, it happens, let it happen. Because once we do that, I definitely think that it will help a lot of the social issues, I think, a lot of the health issues, I think they're going
to be able to stop saying that there aren't something that's very close to a cure, or the cure for a lot of illnesses that are taking loved ones at rapid rates right now. It's going to open up a lot
more research. And I'll just kind of, you know, hopefully make this place a little bit better. Um, so let's, let's do that. And then we can move on to everything else. That shouldn't be a distraction.
Yeah.
Tiara (57:03):
I mean, one of the big reasons why I love the idea of moving down to Portland is Oregon has decriminalized all drugs, and has focused on treatment, and, you know, getting help for people. And
like, I when I was there, this weekend, I kept noticing little things that were really different compared to, you know, where I live right now. Like, I went into a little coffee shop to get a bagel
One morning, and they had Narcan taped to the wall, just in case someone had a drug overdose nearby. Wow. And yeah, like they think about that kind of thing. You know, there was a sign.
MJ (57:38):
Yeah, they wouldn't be in, you know what I'm like, right? Right, that would be the same thing in Seattle.
Tiara (57:43):
Here, they would go, oh, that guy's having an overdose, call 911 and push him outside. And whereas in this shop, it would be I've got something that can help them right now. And they might
survive. Yeah. And you know, there, it's, it's, it's just a different mentality. It's just a little switch. It's, I'm not judging you for the thing that you're doing that, that you feel like you need
to do to survive. I'm going to help you survive. And you are ready to stop doing the thing that you think is helping you right now. But you know, deep down is destroying you. We have things for that.
MJ (58:17):
community and they're communal. They're crazy, right? I
Tiara (58:20):
mean, they still have, they still have shitty politicians who do shady stuff. But overall, at least the communities that I've been introduced to that it's it just feels it feels like what we
all hope is going to happen eventually elsewhere, I guess. You know, like, they actually care about the person next to them there. Oh, the other thing, same shop, like there was a sign that said, if
you don't go by your government name, please just let us know. We don't want to. We don't want to make a mistake. Like we don't want to call you by the wrong name. I don't remember exactly what it
said it was a little cleverer than that. But basically saying like when you give us your credit card, if your name is different, just let us know. And we won't call you that. Yeah, yeah. It's just
little things like that.
MJ (59:08):
Anyway, according to the idea, right.
Unknown (59:11):
All right.
Tiara (59:12):
I know it's starting to creep into later and this is gonna end up being a two parter again, just like
Dean (59:18):
last time because this is kind of you're sticking with it all 15 episodes.
Tiara (59:24):
It's nine o'clock and we're about to do Episode Five.
Neighbor 2 (59:31):
parter. Well, I don't really know much about him. But my two teenage kids are very excited. You know, they love him. They have the CD diskettes and the video games and the dungarees with
his name on the pocket
MJ (59:47):
pocket with dungarees
Tiara (59:51):
story of Thugnificent. So this is when Thugnificent moves into the neighborhood, records a diss album about Granddad, which Sometime in the nuts as a good one. Do we have a song on that one?
Unknown (01:00:04):
Yes. Just mad cuz your first thing you do is just pick up the phone
next to your home. So motherfucker
(01:00:29):
lethal injection versus run. He picked up the phone now my fingers on the trigger snitch and make the thing to do. So now me and my crew going to show how to handle this.
MJ (01:00:42):
Slap. Yes, that's right the whole time that that. Hey, can we get a soundtrack? To boondock I wonder if there's one out on Spotify. Any that? Is there? Okay, so I'm not gonna run around the
streets, right? Just to roll my windows down here. No, no.
Tiara (01:01:03):
It was definitely this this season especially. Um, yeah. So like Granddad hates that these very garish, rapper rappers have moved in across the street and it's just all loud music and cars
everywhere ruining granddad's lawn. So like, he goes over there and like he calls the police on them, I think right? And that's where it how that starts. And then they write the DISA dis song and then
Granddad records a diss song, which is or tries Yeah, he does is terrible. Oh, bad. Um, yeah. So I I remember, like the so Riley was just enamored with them completely, and wanted to hang out with
them so bad and just like be part of their crew. And so everything was like you just saw him? Basically. I don't have a better word basically, subbing to them.
Dean (01:02:07):
He was on as nice as what Riley was.
Tiara (01:02:10):
He was on his nuts. He didn't want to be on his knives. But he was on his neck.
Dean (01:02:13):
I don't be dick riding.
MJ (01:02:15):
Yeah, but he was, like, very, like expertly doing so very much. But yeah.
Tiara (01:02:22):
And then other old people were getting hurt, because the people would watch the video and then see somebody who looked like grandma Granddad. Excuse me. And actually, I remember when this was
when we, when we recorded this when we talked about I believe that we talked about how there was an increase in hate crimes against Asian people during the pandemic, I think that came about somewhere
around this episode. Because people watching a thing and then going out and you know, beating up something that represents the thing that they saw. That's exactly what was happening. People would see
Asian people and just assume that they were Chinese and beat them up and shit like that. Because, you know, oh, was that the prayer preset was See, I remember having a conversation about it, which is
MJ (01:03:18):
the round that time goes. On, I just realized, like, I haven't heard much about that. I haven't heard about that. Yeah.
Tiara (01:03:27):
So that's interesting. I wonder if that means actual change? Or if that just means, you know, the news isn't covering it anymore.
MJ (01:03:35):
Yeah, probably. I mean, you know, how you know how the new cycle goes. And like I said, Look over here, look over here, right? At the earned income tax credit. So if I click over here, look over
here, but don't pay attention to how it made me screwing.
Tiara (01:03:51):
You know, another part about this episode that I really thought was just very perfect, was how the rappers thought that Huey was kind of cool, because, you know, reading books and shit. Yeah,
yeah. It was it like congratulations for reading or something like that.
MJ (01:04:13):
I think part of this episode in the message was like how we can be, you know, divisive within our own culture. And because somebody comes in, you know, because they're rappers, although they may
or may not have as much money, they've done the same thing you've done to be able to move next to you, you know, maybe not be a rapper. Maybe it's just somebody else that you consider this less needed
in your neighborhood, we'll just say, we can become very judgmental about that. And, you know, and start judging somebody else based on you know, maybe they act different. Maybe they're a little more
rowdy. Maybe they're a little more hood, maybe they're you know, so I definitely think that was the message in this as well. And of course, it comes from an older generation, but anyone comes from
somebody the same age, you know, your peers. Oh, I definitely That was a message that was kind of glaringly apparent throughout this. Definitely. I think Lindsay mentioned something about that to that
episode on
Unknown (01:05:10):
Timberlands.
Lynxi (01:05:12):
Oh, yeah, just black people attacking other black people. That's kind of a theme throughout the whole season. The whole show, not just the season.
MJ (01:05:24):
Only what was going on this season, because it seems like it was definitely much more of a topic. And like, allowing people or trying to make people to be introspective and accountable for what
we're responsible for, because of our behavior, you know, towards each other, not just the killing and you know, the things that everybody says we do, but the other ways that we're detrimental to each
other and into our community. So what this was like 2000 5006, maybe? Yeah, ish.
Tiara (01:05:56):
I don't know time time is not real anymore.
MJ (01:05:59):
Yeah. If it was, maybe it was around like it, you know, maybe it was partly inspired by Hurricane Katrina. And you know, how there wasn't the support there. And, well, we
Tiara (01:06:08):
know I pass. And I know it's past Katrina, because they did the contrarians.
MJ (01:06:13):
That's right. That's right. So yeah. Maybe I don't
Tiara (01:06:17):
matter for season seven for this one.
MJ (01:06:19):
Okay. Okay. Oh, yeah. I can be motivated for that. No, that kind of thing for the season. Yeah, I
Unknown (01:06:30):
don't know. That's a good question.
Ah, okay.
Tiara (01:06:36):
Let's move on to episode six Attack of the killer kung fu Wolf, bitch. Hey, guys, I hope you don't mind me hanging out with you for the weekend. Taylor Taylor. Yeah. Big, big, big hearts, like
big heart eyes like that. That gift of a bunny with the heart eyes. That's me right now with the leap with Aisha Tyler.
MJ (01:07:01):
You should watch the movie friendsgiving. She was in that? Yeah, with Kat dinning. And say there's a makeout scene with both of them. Okay, love her even more. Definitely. It was Netflix. But
yeah, this was this was one of the funnier episodes. One of the ones where
Dean (01:07:25):
I need to fight you know what I need to find and get to you guys. I don't know if you're when she did her stand up special. She did a rap beforehand, talking about how she was a black nerdy
black girl with no button, right?
MJ (01:07:36):
Yeah. He definitely does not know. She recognizes that because she does not have one.
Tiara (01:07:44):
Right. Yeah. So the synopsis before before we talk more about this episode, Granddad invites a total stranger to the house for the weekend because she lives far away. But they met online and
has the nerve to act surprised when she turns out to be completely insane. Just like that completely insane. What's up? Yeah. All right. Um, yeah, so this one's funny, because right off the bat, like
the boys is don't believe don't trust her. And they're really like, weary. And essentially, they kind of fuck everything up for both of them. Because they convince Granddad that, that they need to get
rid of her and then her friend then convinces her to go psychotic. So that's a very,
MJ (01:08:36):
there's a lot in that episode in Arnold, or being the friend in this episode. And for Martin, it was, she was she was definitely that friend. That, definitely that one. But yeah, this was the that
was the funny episode too. But it also once again showed grandpa wanting companionship, hmm.
Tiara (01:08:57):
That's something that is reoccurring in all of not all of the episodes in particular, but all of the seasons that, you know, Granddad is a lonely old man. And that the that his tape does not
tend to be the best
MJ (01:09:15):
for him. But he's like, young, he's like young mind young spirited, he, you know, even though he gets stuff messed up, you know, my Eyespace and my pod on that. He's still very, I think, you know,
because I think they keep him young. So, yes, looking for some, you know, that same kind of energy and he looks in the wrong places. Um, which is a I think, ongoing thing from then and still now,
because I, you know, when my mom does meet somebody, I know it's very much these dating apps. It's like Christian mingle and shit like that. And I'm like, these people do not have to be real
Christians. Okay, so, let me tell you how you're gonna find fuckboys despite you doing anything else, but but that could be the way for younger people to meet but also the option for older people to
meet you know, I could never, I'd be lonely as I couldn't. I'm not swiping right or left for anybody.
Unknown (01:10:08):
Yeah. Yeah.
Tiara (01:10:10):
I can't imagine anybody is excited about that.
MJ (01:10:13):
Nobody's real, but nobody's real too, right? Have you said the other day catfish is still a show. I'm like, Well, people are still lying and fishing and not being them to sell, you know, their
true selves. So
Tiara (01:10:24):
yeah, no, that actually go on. But in this episode, she didn't exactly catfishing but she didn't exactly like tell the truth about all the things like she she very much like it was it was
telling the truth, but only like a kernel of the truth like, Kung Fu, but it turned out to be like Muay Thai or or white load White Lotus kung fu instead of, you know, Tai Chi or whatever. Yeah, yeah.
kickboxing. Yeah, that's right. That's right. She said, kickboxing.
MJ (01:10:57):
She didn't really lie. But she didn't really tell the truth.
Tiara (01:10:59):
Right. Right. Exactly. If I only tell part of it, it's not lying. And I don't forget.
MJ (01:11:06):
Yeah. And playing on the fact that she knew that he was, you know, what position he's into? Yeah, this. Yeah.
Tiara (01:11:18):
And, you know, it's kind of that one of the themes in it obviously, is, you know, choose your choose, choose your friends wisely. But that's not the word I was trying to think of, like, choose
who you open up to, really, because her friend knew all of these terrible things that you know, she had gone through and still was like, you should suck that ban, you should, you know, ruin his life,
go and do that. That's what I would do. Don't let him leave until he's in love with you. And that doesn't help when you are mentally ill you should have somebody who's not a shenanigan Iser
MJ (01:11:58):
not somebody who just as you know, they're you guys are saying kinda right. Um, but she was even worse. She just really toxic not the friend that pumps you up, but the friend that really leads you
down the wrong road. Mm hmm. feeds into your worst fears. You know, instead of somebody that goes oh, you trippin? Let me go ahead and be rational. Yeah. So yeah. Yeah, anything, Linds. Oh, yeah,
Lynxi (01:12:24):
we already know this. I went off on this episode, I looked at her as being completely honest. Granddad being a little bitch in his reactions to her grid, hiding in a bathroom and talking shit.
And messing with someone's trauma when you have no idea what you're doing. niggas need to be honest, not Wolf, bitches.
MJ (01:12:44):
Now the mic drop.
Tiara (01:12:46):
I love it. No, that's perfect. Cuz I was like, yeah, cuz I remember talking about, like, talking about the trauma side of it, because that's the kind of stuff that I study in just like seeing
it immediately. Like, Oh, she was fucked over. And, you know, experiences and romantic trauma.
MJ (01:13:06):
Yeah. Oh, people like I have a couple friends right now. And I'm talking to them separately. I'm like, but you guys both have trauma to deal with separately, before you guys even trying to be an
entity together. And they don't get it. Like it's so clear to me on the outside because I'm not in there. But it's very easy for me to see. That's what it is. And then what's your trauma is? trauma.
So same type of situation. Grandpa maybe didn't have trauma, but he's a you know, he's a Witter. What's the guy's name? Whatever. Yeah, there you go. Um, so he's that and her trauma is probably being
done dirty a lot in her life. Whether it's by her own cause or not, but yeah, yeah. So I, I see that point to Lindsey. But I definitely think the friend was the most toxic part of the whole situation.
Yeah,
Tiara (01:13:52):
I mean, if if I was on a, on a date, where I was being treated the way that she was being treated no matter what it was that who he thought I was before we met, like that friend, basically,
leading her down the path to her death was like, the last thing that she did. She needed someone who would be like, Girl, you are too fucking good for that shit. Go home. I will buy you a drink when
you get here. I will talk about it. Not girl, I would die if I had to be single or whatever. It was
MJ (01:14:25):
back in there and tell him and demand Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, she was lonely. But we know that outcome of that. So we know. Right? Oh, all right.
Tiara (01:14:37):
How are we doing on time? Do you want to try and get a few more episodes in are
Dean (01:14:41):
we can we do this next one we'll have we can do the other one as a half. Okay. So, in my opinion, if everybody's cool with
Tiara (01:14:49):
that, I know. We get get to seven and then we have seven, seven and then we'll talk about Yeah, okay.
Huey (01:14:57):
All right. So Episode Seven scheinen. So you judge your success by the amount of ill will you generate from those around you? is a man actually doing something wrong by that definition, then you
have a very bright future. Thanks me.
Tiara (01:15:14):
Riley finally gets platinum and diamond Shane from his, from his new crew, only to have it snatched away by a bully. And, again, not being a snitch, but wanting to get and doesn't want to his
new friends to know that he got jumped, I guess. He tries to he tries everything he can to, you know, get his chain back and fix his rap. And like, the biggest thing I remember about this episode is
who was the dude on the crew that went to help and got like, broken leg or something? and Riley was just like, whatever. I
Unknown (01:15:49):
got my nominal leg up. That is a big one. That's it. Like he just walks away like Yeah,
MJ (01:16:00):
I got my Yeah, yeah. Oh, well, too bad for you. Boy. It was what was so funny is I love about that clip is how he was like, thanks, man. Like, that was probably the most vulnerable more moment
ever, that Riley had and it was so not sincere from Huey standpoint, right? But Reilly didn't get it. Because for him, that's what's important. You know, I'm saying like, the fact that you know,
material things, or something so important. Okay. But for him, he was like, you're right. Thank you get me, you know, so it's really funny that how just how vulnerable sounding or how like,
appreciative sounding, he was actually. And who was not giving him a compliment. It was
Tiara (01:16:41):
like backhanded sarcasm that Huey does. When it when it was aimed at what what Reilly actually, like believed. Reilly was like, Oh,
MJ (01:16:49):
yeah, thank you. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah, no. Yeah.
Tiara (01:17:03):
So I don't know, there was. I don't remember a whole lot like that, that scene at the end, when when he finally had gone back and told them that, you know, he'd gotten jumped, and they went to
confront the bully. Like, that's the scene that really jumped out for me. Is there anything like that for you guys?
MJ (01:17:23):
I think probably the most if I remember correctly, we were just kind of we all have the same feeling about this episode. Like there was obviously one kind of theme. And the focus so much was on
Riley, and, you know, the kind of conflict that he had between being a snitch or still being cool, you know? So, yeah, that's kind of what I remember. Like the whole idea. I actually, I don't remember
like anything took me about
Tiara (01:17:51):
how would you lens
Lynxi (01:17:54):
probably just, like loyalty and fake shit. That's how I took it like that fake ass chain he was willing to go so far for. And when it came to loyalty, loyalty really meant nothing.
Tiara (01:18:06):
The fake gas chain meant everything, that it was just about what everything looks like, not what
Dean (01:18:11):
it actually is. It would do everything for that chain, including kissa. Man, which is his biggest Yeah. biggest fear? Oh,
Unknown (01:18:19):
wait, no.
Tiara (01:18:24):
Yeah. All right. Well, should we? We're gonna pause here for for length reasons. So that we're not putting out a six hour episode or something. Um, so yeah. I hope that everybody enjoyed the
season so far, especially, you know, all of our white people questions that we talked about, and like, I didn't, we didn't really discuss them today. But all of them are, like progressively getting
better. Now, especially since we've been getting them off of Tick Tock.
Dean (01:19:02):
Oh, yeah. Well, and, and none of them are the same. I mean, there's, there are a myriad of stories and questions that have popped up throughout this entire thing. I don't think we've gotten. I
think we've had something about hair a couple of times, but that's been about it. So yeah, everything. It's it's from a white perspective, looking at looking at that and seeing all these things that
black folks have to deal with or get questioned about. I mean, that's privilege. So
MJ (01:19:37):
yeah. You guys know why we always go Lord, I'm tired. We're exhausted sometimes. But no, you're right. And like you said, I think they're progressively getting better. Like last week's was just
like, hey, wouldn't mind if you just stop and ask me that? 70 bucks. You know what I do? Like, it wasn't that bad. So, yeah,
Dean (01:19:56):
it was a silly question, but yeah, I mean, me Washington.
Tiara (01:20:01):
So that actually brings up something that happened today. So that clip of that white people question about hair and washing your hair. On Tick tock, some dude decided that I didn't know what I
was talking about, and wanted to basically tell me that executive dysfunction, which is basically for me, the way that that manifests is sometimes the inability to give a shit about taking care of
myself. And baby, you know, I said that last week about you know, I'm not a good person to ask about washing hair because my hair is not considered black hair. And I'm also have this other thing that
prevents me from so yeah, this dude decided to like, all day long, basically try to challenge me and say that no, you can just you just do it. And then you know,
Dean (01:20:47):
once you do it, you've broken the executive dysfunction. That's kind of the fucking thing.
Tiara (01:20:52):
But like I described, explained to him what I was saying and why I was saying and the background of being autistic and having sensory processing disorder, and like all these things that go with
and he's just basically like, but what I'm saying is that it at it, and it's complete fucking ablest bullshit, oh, my God, whoever
MJ (01:21:09):
you are, but just this, you try getting off of an app, and worrying about your own business because I'm sure your shit is just pretty pumped up for you to tell somebody else about how they can
just like, you can't like you were being like, I don't know how to tie my shoe. And he's like, just do it. Yeah, that's exactly right. That is exactly Wow, I want you guys to see my face right now.
Because like I have the most incredulous annoyed.
Dean (01:21:37):
Math, even mathematically, it makes no sense. So basically, his, his his view was in order to get over your executive dysfunction. Get over your executive dysfunction. Well, motherfuck.
MJ (01:21:54):
You know what, I've never thought of that.
Tiara (01:21:57):
And by right, trying to challenge your intelligence by saying like, what grad school did you get? Or did or what, what PhD did you get? And then like, basically, like, Well, probably not the
same one as my therapist, and my psychologist who actually say these things. And like, I'm just literally like, dude, I have worked in that field for over 20 years. I have these diagnoses. I have
talked to therapists, multiple therapists about it. And they all say the same fucking thing. And I literally teach executive functioning skills as part of my job.
MJ (01:22:33):
I am 40 plus years old. You don't you're upset about me just stop being black.
Tiara (01:22:42):
Well, he said something like, you know, I've had depressions. And I'm literally like, that's felt sad one. That's not what this is. This is literally like, well, at the time period, kind of
that I was talking about, like, literally, I getting out of bed to go to the bathroom was something that I had to psych myself up for. eating food was something that I would have to convince myself to
do. You know, it's not just being sad. It's literally not caring one way or another, and not having any feelings about potentially dying. Well, it's
MJ (01:23:23):
awesome that you have somebody who studied the brain and who's the one person in the planet 100% expand, you know, understands the brain and he's telling you how to fix it. Like,
Dean (01:23:37):
full on mansplaining Yeah,
MJ (01:23:39):
wow. Oh, man. Oh, You took the words out of my mouth, like the worst kind of mansplaining like I said, you let me know what your everyday life is like. So I can find out something be like, just
stop. Don't like, oh my god. Oh, you should have told me that. I'm messing too. So.
Tiara (01:23:55):
I got so pissed. I don't I don't let myself get angry because I do not like the way that I feel when I am angry. And I was so angry. It took me like 40 minutes to stop shaking.
MJ (01:24:06):
Oh my god, I'm literally irritated because I just don't like other people too. Who are throwing throwing stones. Yeah, like I know your shit is not right. No.
Tiara (01:24:16):
functionality, personal functionality. Not the whole world. Not people in general with depression, my depression in particular.
MJ (01:24:25):
You better get a phone number and everything. And then you're cured. Wow. Well, you might want to go medicate now.
Tiara (01:24:36):
Actually. That's why I wanted to save it for the end because I knew I'd get riled up again. Yeah. So
Dean (01:24:43):
so we're gonna so before we leave, yeah, so we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna have a weak space in between Lin Lindsay's out of town next week.
Tiara (01:24:52):
So in two weeks, we will do the second half of our season.
MJ (01:24:55):
That works for me and Lindsey your path in Sacramento. You better Stop me and be like a girl with me.
Dean (01:25:01):
