Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, welcome
everybody to another edition of
the Boone Show on my Pulse Radio.
Yes, we are back, a long littlehiatus there.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
It's about time to be
back.
It seems like we've been gone awhile.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
It feels good to be
back.
It's been a very busy year andwe're hoping to end it with a
bang as we talk about schoolyear anyway.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Absolutely, because
we always talk in terms of
school year, because everybodyknows school year, yeah, except
Rob.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
We always talk in
terms of school year because
everybody knows school year.
Yeah, except Rob Right.
I think he's past that, but ourguest was probably one of our
last guests before we stoppeddoing it for a month or two Back
in the studio.
We had him on right after thehurricane.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Oh, that's right.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
And you were handing
out sandwiches and stuff and
talking about all the thingsyou're doing to help out, which
you always do.
And so Rob Young from SCComic-Con is back Borderlands
Comics and Games as well but hehas brought a special guest
himself.
Very special guest.
We promised this back in thefall and we're getting delivery
on the promise.
As, for the very first timeanywhere, michelle Young is here
(01:05):
with Rob to be on the radio.
First time ever, holly.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Absolutely and it's
exciting to have you here
because we've heard so muchabout you over the years.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Yes, he just man, he
brags and brags.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
He does.
There's never anything bad.
He always says he's never alonein it.
That's right.
There's a lot to brag about.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
That's right, In fact
the more I looked into it,
because you know I'm trying tocome up with questions for
Michelle, but it looks likereally she does most of the work
.
Speaker 5 (01:29):
I keep saying that
Everybody tries to give me
credit.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
I'm like I'm just a
monkey that goes in front of a
camera.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
She does all the work
.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
But anyway, it's
great-Con time of year coming up
.
In just a couple of weeks It'llbe on the tail end of our
spring break, but yet there areseveral kids that are still
going to represent us and go outthere to Comic-Con.
And this year it looks biggerand better than ever.
But we'll get to that in aminute.
(01:58):
We want to get to know Michellea little bit, because we only
know what Rob said and you knowhow that goes.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, I don't know if
I'd want everybody to take
stake on what my husband saysabout me Right, right, not that
it's anything bad, right, youknow.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
So, michelle, tell us
a little bit about your
background, where you grew upand how you got to meet this guy
.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Well, I actually grew
up in Maryland.
I moved here in the mid-'90sand have been here ever since
Met Rob 22 years ago.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Yeah it's been a
minute.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
It's been a minute.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Yeah.
So all you just celebrated 20thanniversary yeah, we did.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
We did.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
I can't believe she
stayed this long.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I say that to my wife
all the time I have a
background in accounting.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Uh, worked at clemson
for years as a business manager
in the parks and rec departmentand then um rob introduced me
to the world of geekiness.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
So do you like it?
I do did you like it prior tomeeting rob?
Speaker 4 (03:01):
no, okay, no, I mean,
I knew some superhero things
because of having a youngerbrother, but it wasn't really my
thing, I knew who CaptainAmerica was.
You never read a comic.
Never read a comic book.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
This may have some
impact on what I was telling you
we were going to do later on,but maybe you'll still stand a
chance.
Well, that's interestingbecause, rob, you were always
into the geekiness.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
Yeah, I grew up on
naval bases moving up and down
the eastern seaboard, so theonly things that were everywhere
were like 7-Elevens or what wasit, little Generals.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, some of those.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
So it was comics and
baseball cards were kind of in
slurpees, were the only thingsthat were in all these places
and uh, and that's what got meinto them and um, it was
something that, no matter whereI traveled to if I didn't know
people, they had familiar stuff,so uh, so I think that's what
was kind of the gravitation allthose years.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
All right.
So you guys, uh, you getmarried 20 years ago and, uh,
and it's been how long?
Almost 15 years with the ComicCon stuff, right, we're 15 in
the store and the con.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
this would be the
11th con 12 years, right.
Because of COVID yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
So yeah.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
But we did.
Our first show that we didtogether, though, was in a
Howard Johnson's.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Howard Johnson,
that's a hotel.
Yeah, a motel, a motel, that'sit.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Yeah, and it was.
I had done some in the past forfun and this guy came up to us
in the mall it's in the mall, right, yes?
And he was like when are yougoing to do another show?
And she's like what's a show?
Like a comedy show, likeremember, it's not our world.
And so I explain it and shegoes that really sounds like a
lot of fun.
What could we do?
(04:55):
And we did it, and I think wedid canned food and we gave it
to a boy's home out in Greer foradmission, and we did it for
fun.
And I think that was reallyimportant because it sort of set
the stage.
This thing could exist.
Maybe what 350 people came orsomething.
Yeah and um, and we thought thatwas great at the time.
And then um, and then, when wedecided to do it on a bit more
(05:19):
grandiose scale, you know shewas, she was on board,
understood and thought I wasinsane.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
well, that,
accounting background must have
helped as well planning such ashow like that.
I mean, tell me a little bitabout you know what goes into it
?
I know it's getting huge now,but I mean, how do you plan such
a thing?
Speaker 4 (05:34):
picking the guests uh
, one of the big things to try
to see what might fit intodifferent genres.
We try to pick something fromeach genre.
A lot of flights, hotels, scheduling, social media.
We do a lot of the social mediapushes.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
Yeah, the advertising
piece.
I do a lot of outside of socialmedia.
So radio advertising on cable, advertising on over the air, so
you can do cable advertising.
You can advertise specifically, like with fox or with cbs.
We're running specific ads withthose companies, then ads on
spectrum on certain shows andthen something called ott, which
(06:15):
is where when you guys do allyour streaming stuff and then
you have ads.
So we have ads running in thatas well.
Um, it's a.
The advertising is crazy.
All the stuff we do, not tomention all the posters that get
hung around town and uh flyersthat we take everywhere and
postcards, yeah, postcards, andall of that is separate really
from social media.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yes, yeah because
that's a whole other.
It's another whole thing yeah,it's funny.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
Um, I always say when
somebody's starting a business,
like you can have the coolestrestaurant or the neatest store,
but if you're not shouting itfrom the top of a mountaintop
somewhere, nobody's ever goingto know that's right, that's the
part everybody seems to forgetabout.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
And nowadays, with
all the different forms of media
, there's so many differentthings you have to do.
Before it might have been justtraditional media, tv, radio,
print.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
Now it's tons of
platforms.
We're all so diversified in howwe consume things.
Then it's how do you touchpeople so they know?
And it's tough, it really is,but that's part of the fun.
If it was easy, everybody woulddo it.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
That's right.
So what on earth thinking, michelle, 15 years ago when
y'all opened the store?
Where on earth was your mind?
When he's like, I'm assuming hesaid what do you think about
opening a store?
Uh, on what you call geekystuff, yes, I mean, where did
that?
Speaker 4 (07:33):
I trusted his passion
for it.
I knew that he knew what he wasdoing and that he had a real
passion for selling comic booksand games and I went all in with
it.
I actually he had come to meand said he was going to do it,
but he was unsure.
He didn't know if we were goingto do this and I told him I
wouldn't talk to him until hesaid yes to buying the store.
(07:57):
So I said this is something youneed to do.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
It's something I
believe in.
You wished you'd held outlonger not talking to me, didn't
you?
Speaker 4 (08:08):
I mean I should have
let it go a little bit longer,
but I knew that he had a realheart for it and that he would
be successful with it.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
So you were still
working at Clemson at the time.
Yes, oh, yeah, okay.
So you now don't work for.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
Clemson.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
You do this full-time
, both of you.
So when did you decide it'stime to quit doing my full-time
job?
At Clemson, and I'm sure youcame home and did a full-time
job.
When was that break where yousaid this is it?
Speaker 4 (08:30):
It took some
convincing.
It was how many years in about.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
Gosh, I bet it took
me at least five, six years to
get you to to get me to quitClemson.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
I kept saying, no,
I'll just help out in the
evenings or I'll do ourbookkeeping.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
But I think it was
that um life preserver, that if
something went wrong, right anduh.
But I knew how good she'd do,so I just kept nagging her until
she did it just so I'd shut up.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
So he, yeah, I gave
in, uh, been there ever since,
but it's, it's been a full-time,definitely a full time job and
a half she works full-time forsure.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
You get this time of
year and I'm home eating dinner
and I look over and she's gotthe laptop out.
She's still going.
She's been going since we gotup in the morning because this
time of year it's really twofull-time jobs really for her to
do everything she does well andrealistically.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
When you own your own
business, anyways right, it's a
full-time job, and then some, anyways right.
So I mean you work all the time, weekends, everything.
You have to almost schedulethose times to be off.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
Yes, we do, and not
do that we might be doing that
when we leave here we scheduleddinner nice, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Um.
So who who helps you, michelle?
Do you do this all yourself, all this travel planning hotels?
Oh my gosh, do you see how manypeople they have come?
Speaker 5 (09:51):
oh yes, she's pretty
incredible if you see her
spreadsheet.
It looks like something out oflike star wars or star trek or
something.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Oh my gosh, I love
that.
I love me too.
Everything, yes, everythingcolor-coded all kinds of stuff.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
It's crazy I can't
understand it when I look at it.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
I have to just ask.
I'm like just tell me, tell meyeah, just tell me what don't
give me access to that, justtell me what's going on wow that
, that's incredible yeah verycool and it's cool how you guys
challenge each other to dothings.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
She challenged you to
do other to do things.
She challenged you to do thestore.
You challenged her to trust youand move on into the full-time.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Comic-Con.
That was part of theconversation.
Yeah, that's.
You believed in me, I believein you.
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
That's awesome.
Things are working out prettygood.
We're going to jump into theComic-Con stuff coming up in
just a minute, but before we goto the first break I had to ask
you about your visit to theSphere in Las Vegas.
It was incredible.
They saw the eagles oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
And just describe it
to me.
So, first off, no video orpicture will do it justice.
Everybody talks about thevisuals, but the thing that blew
us away when we talked about itlater there's got to be 10 or
20,000 speakers because theEagles are so harmony based.
So if you just try to put abunch of speakers up and crank
the volume up in the front, thatdoesn't work and we could hear
(11:18):
everything, but it never feltloud and I don't know another
way to describe it.
It's strange.
You're just experiencing it.
Yeah, no matter where you sat,it felt like there had to be
speakers near you.
You couldn't see.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
And we didn't have to
yell if we were talking to one
another.
It was you never felt like youwere screaming or yelling, but
yet you could hear the music.
You could hear everythingperfectly clear.
It was, the visual wasincredible.
Visual is difficult to describe.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
Like cause.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
It goes above your
head and all the way around you
300 feet high.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Yeah, it's, it's wild
and I you know it's.
It's expensive, right Causethat place is.
I can't imagine what it coststo run it Right or much less to
design all this graphic it threebillion or something.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:58):
But I will say that
if you have a band that you
really like and they put on ashow, there it is worth whatever
it costs to go, because it's anexperience that you will not be
able to get anywhere else.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
So is it multi-layer
or is it everybody's on the
ground floor?
Three levels, so it is three.
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
It builds up the back
, kind of tall in the back and
but people are all the way downon the floor.
If you want that traditionalconcert experience where you're
really close and you don't careabout the screen, then you sit
there.
We sat about halfway so that wecould try to get a little bit
of both.
It was also a lot cheaper thansitting on the floor and it was
just the best experience.
(12:38):
Like, I don't like going toVegas, it's not my place,
neither does she, but then we'releaving and she's like you know
they are coming back.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
I would go back and
see them again.
It was great it was that thatincredible?
Speaker 5 (12:51):
And I think anyone
who is a music lover and has a
band there it's it's worthmaking an excursion.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
So do you think where
you sat was the best area to
sit in, or do you think sittingup higher, or where do you think
would be the best place to sitin there?
Speaker 5 (13:06):
I liked where we were
, cause you could still see the
stage pretty good, right, andyet you could look up and around
and still see everything.
We were a little bit to theright, but it it it truly like
they kept saying it doesn'tmatter.
I don't think it matters, that's cool, maybe a little more
(13:27):
centered.
It just envelops you.
Yeah, it does surround you.
And then, man, the stuff theydid for like Hotel California,
it had the car driving throughthe mountains and you're in the
car and it goes into the hoteland the door closes behind you
and everything you could thinkof they did and it really wasn't
cheesy.
I think out of all the Eaglesones, there was only one that
felt like a cheesy music videoin two hours.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
So was the screen all
the way around you All except
for the very back, but all thetop and the sides.
And then they were positioneddead center on the floor.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
And think of this
Holly, you think 4k tv is is
high resolution that video is16k holy cow, so it's four times
what you see on the high deftvs.
Four times oh, wow clear it's,it's.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
That's how clear and
then it's produced so well that
there may be showing the video.
But then they'll have insetvideos of the musicians playing
on the sphere.
So then you'll see Vince Gillplaying or Don playing or
whatever.
So then you get everything.
You get kind of.
Whatever the video is, you getto see them playing.
You can hear it.
The sound's unreal.
It was a crazy experience andworth it Like it's rare.
(14:36):
Something is better than thehype, but I would say it's
better.
Yeah, I got to do that that.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
So can you hear
outside of the facility?
So you're in this facilitylistening to the eagles.
If you are outside, could youhear?
Speaker 5 (14:48):
don't know, because
the show wasn't going on when we
were outside.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
They were they were
inside.
How are they going to hearoutside?
Speaker 5 (14:54):
so and believe it, or
not, but, believe it or not, we
were there.
They had other shows thatweekend, but we were, so we were
there for a trade show calledASD, which is like a retail show
, and then I think, when theydid their other show, it's
possible, since we were in Vegas, that we were sitting at a long
stretch of counter wherebeverages are served.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Right, they have a
few of those.
Speaker 5 (15:16):
Maybe we may have
done that in Vegas, yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I think, as far as
the speakers look it up during
the break, holly, because Ithink I will hit that rob's uh
estimate is really low I thinkthere's like over a hundred
thousand speakers literally, because they have them
everywhere yeah and they haveand like in the seats too.
I was reading this too, isn't?
Don't you get like high speedinternet access at your seats
and all that?
Or certain seats maybe?
(15:40):
Um, I mean, it's justridiculous the technology that's
gone into this place it's.
Speaker 5 (15:46):
It's really cool.
I hope it works, because I'veheard they're having trouble,
yeah, because of how much itcosts to build it.
But man, I hope it worksbecause it really is an
experience that's not likeanything I've ever seen before,
like people tried to compare itto imax or something.
Speaker 10 (15:59):
I'm and I'm like
that's.
I said that's like looking atyour flip phone.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yeah, hey, while
we're on that topic, have you
ever gone to Red Rocks Cause?
Speaker 5 (16:07):
that's another place,
they say you got to watch a
concert.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Yeah, I've got to go
there too.
I mean, we were out in Coloradoa couple of years ago, didn't
get a chance to go up there.
We were pretty close chance.
But that's on the list too, because they say and talk about
you know, technology with thesphere, this was all natural,
and with the acoustics in there.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
So I love to do that.
It looks gorgeous.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Yeah, sure does.
All right, we're going to takea break and we'll come back and
talk about this year's Comic-Conwith Rob and Michelle Young and
the boss, lady Holly.
By the way, zach is trying tocall in at 430, holly, he Holly.

remember how to pick it up.

and games with us tonight, aswell as the boss lady.
Where is Little Harold?
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Oh, she's driving.
Speaker 10 (19:04):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
And you know, if a
15-year-old gets their license

o'clock, that car does not comein our driveway until 7.55.
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
All right, be safe
out there.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Yes, little Harold.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
All right, a couple
of show announcements here, just
real quick.
We don't have a show next week.
We're taking a week off afterjust coming back.
We've got spring break, though,so week after that we're having
Belton's Mayor on for the veryfirst time, eleanor Dorn will be
here, sam Gilmer will be here, and then we'll be talking about
the South Carolina ChiliCook-Off and some other things
(19:42):
that's coming up in a few weeks,a week after Comic-Con.
So some things to talk aboutthen, but right now we've got
what's going on in just a coupleof weeks, less than a couple of
weeks now.
SC Comic-Con at the GreenvilleConvention Center April 5th and
6th.
Tell us about it, rob.
(20:02):
What do we got going on thisyear?
Oh my gosh man, it seems biggerand better than ever.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
Well, I'll tell you
something.
You were joking when we came inthat possibly the guest list
could be even better than lastyear.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
No.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
And I think it's
definitely more varied and
there's a lot more guests.
I mean, you've got to think.
I mean I think it's definitelymore varied and there's a lot
more guests.
I mean you got to think.
I mean last year the big oneswere Shatner and Jim Lee.
For those who don't know, jimLee is the president of DC
Comics and probably the largestguest in comics you can get, and
he was great.
But this year we kind of went alittle crazy too.
(20:37):
This year we've got John Romitajr, who's huge in the comic
industry.
His father was john ramitasenior, who was a big spider-man
artist, but in the the kind ofmedia area, vincent d'onofrio,
who's kingpin on daredevilthat's airing right now, you
know.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
And he's been in a
bunch of other things too.
I like him.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
Oh yeah, law and
order and so many people keep
joking about him and men inblack being the dude that's full
of bugs.
Speaker 9 (21:00):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Which I think is
hilarious.
It's fun that that's whatsticks right.
But when you think you've gothim and Giancarlo Esposito,
who's been in everythingBreaking Bad, breaking Bad,
mandalorian, he's in the newNetflix movie as a bad guy with
Chris Pratt, phil Dunster fromTed Lasso, jamie Tartar.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Jamie Tartar, jamie
Tartar.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
I mean, those are all
big names.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
And they're coming
back for season four.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
Yes, yeah, that's man
.
Look, it's one of the best TVshows ever made.
I love it.
I love that show.
And then you've got JonathanFrakes and Brent Spiner from
Star Trek Next Generation.
The Hardy Boys, sting, kane,hodder.
Holy cow, chuck Huber fromDragon Ball, the voice of
Scooby-Doo, the voice of Mario.
If you're a big fight fan,which I am, we're going to have
(21:49):
Don Fry, who is just a characterand is one of the greatest
fighters ever in the UFC.
And then we have a real-life,real-life superhero in Mark
Coleman.
He fought in the UFC and hefought in Pride.
He's a champion in both, butlast year he fought in the UFC
and he fought in Pride.
He's a champion in both, butlast year he was staying with
his parents and the house caughton fire and he carried his
parents out of a burning houseand nearly died.
(22:11):
Oh my goodness True hero rightthere.
For sure.
Wow, pretty cool.
There it is.
I haven't even mentioned VickiLawrence yet, so we're going to
have Grandma there.
I haven't even mentioned VickiLawrence yet, so we're going to
have Grandma there.
We've got Craig Parker fromLord of the Rings, priscilla
Presley, michelle Ruff, taraStrong, huge voice actor yes,
(22:33):
staying on Sunday from 11 to 2.
He's only there.
Speaker 10 (22:39):
Sting only does
three-hour signings, so he'll be
there Sunday from 11 to 2, thestinger and not the guy with the
drummer and the basses.
Yeah, the other sting, theother sting, although he's
pretty good too.
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:45):
He's not bad, but
yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
That is just amazing.
So do you two sit around.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
The list is
ridiculous, I know it.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Do you just sit
around and say ah yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:54):
I mean, what we like
to do is put names on a
dartboard.
Fair enough, and yeah spinaround with your with your head
on the baseball bat and throwdarts and see who we can say
that's who we're getting.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Yeah, yeah, it works
pretty good.
I mean you have to startrecruiting like January for next
year.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
It's about a 14 month
process, I would say on average
for each show that some stuffis getting booked that far in
advance Right.
For sure.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
I mean, that's a lot
of talent lists and looking to
see which you know which guestswould do well in this area, or
what is a relevant show rightnow, or you know a good pop
culture type show that everybodycan relate to, or just or
what's popping up, what'spopping up now Like what's kind
of coming?
Speaker 5 (23:35):
back into vogue,
because sometimes it'll pop up
on streaming and you'll find itstarting to show in all your
social media posts becausepeople are starting to watch an
old tv show yeah, yeah youremember seinfeld had that big
resurgence a couple years backbecause all the reels and stuff
fit perfect for seinfeld jokesyeah and seinfeld had a
resurgence and they made abazillion dollars getting it
back up on.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Yeah, whatever, it
was netflix or whatever so you
guys, when you get these guests, you is there a have you built
up, obviously over the years, kind of a rapport with agencies
and stuff like that too?
Speaker 10 (24:07):
So there's another
thing that you do.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
She's the people,
person right.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Rob, she's the people
person, yeah for sure, Cause
that's gotta be.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
you know that's gotta
be tough to do.
Not only is she doing thelogistics, for all the
everything but everybody'sschedule has to fit, and, man,
and to think that you're alreadythinking about next year.
We haven't even had this year,so, wow, I'm continuing to be
impressed, rob.
Speaker 5 (24:32):
She killed it.
You told me I'd be impressed,I'm impressed, and the thing
that didn't come up is we havefolks that help us with our
transport team, so we have tohave all these vehicles and we
have folks transporting them toand from airports, and hotels
and all that kind of stuff too.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Wonderful volunteers.
We have a ton of volunteers.
Speaker 5 (24:49):
We have an army.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
Yeah, we have an army
and they're amazing.
We couldn't do it without them, you know.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
Kane Hodder played
Jason in the Friday the 13th.
A couple of movies, one of themMr Seeley's dad worked on.
One or two it might have beentwo of them and Kane Hodder was
in that movie and Mr Seeley'sdad, Winston Seeley's dad, was
working with the special effectsand such, and so he got to be
(25:17):
involved with a lot of the killscenes and all that to be
involved with a lot of the killscenes and all that.
And I think Winston was sayingthat he has a picture of Kane
Hodder like strangling his dador something and one thing he
was trying to find it so hecould take it and get it
autographed.
That'd be awesome.
But but yeah, there's a littleconnection there and keeping it
on seal, he's a big Ted Lassofan.
(25:39):
He's taking his kids.
I mean, you really did hit allthe different areas.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
So everybody has
somebody that they can see.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
I would assume that
you literally go through and you
have categories and you want tomake sure you've checked each
one of those categories.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
Yes, May not always
succeed, but we try to get close
, right yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Sometimes we'll luck
out and get a guest that kind of
fills two genres.
You know you'll have a voiceactor, but he's also done some
sitcom work, so you kind of havea little bit of popularity in
both aspects I love the factyou're getting tara strong,
because we've studied her work alittle bit in our program.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
She's one of the big
time ones that the kids have
grown up with.
So, yeah, it's great.
It's going to be a greatweekend.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
And you get all that
for one price.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Yes, so let's talk
about tickets.
How do we?
Speaker 5 (26:27):
get tickets?
Sccomiconcom.
You can get them at any Ingallslocation.
You can also buy them atBorderlands Comics and Games,
410 South Pleasantburg Drive.
They are $40 for the weekend,30 for Saturday, 25 for Sunday.
How much is VIP?
$125.
Vip is $125.
(26:53):
See, I told you she wouldn'tneed her.
And the advantage of the VIP isnot only you get in 30 minutes
early, which is huge because youguys know how big the lines are
, but both days.
But the other catch is is therewill now be a fast pass in the
media areas where, if you getVIP, you cut that big line to
get to the front.
It'll save you so much time atthe show.
I cannot For folks that haven'tbeen.
Sometimes there's waits to getto them.
(27:14):
You could wait for two hours tomeet a guest and if you can
just cut to the front of theline, oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
So you just show your
VIP badge and they escort you
right to the front?
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Yeah, they have a
spot where they can take you to
the front and if there's likefive people waiting, they may
alternate one from the regularline, one from VIP.
It's so much faster and it'ssomething that people had asked
for, so we literally just addedit to the VIP.
It's not something they have topay extra for if they buy the
vip very cool, but it reallywill save folks a tremendous
amount of time, and when you'rein an event that has a limited
window of time you know it's uh,it's 10 to 6 on saturday and 11
(27:48):
to 6 sunday it'll save you aton of time and you can get a
lot more done and see a lot moreat the show.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Yeah, yeah, I mean
imagine a line for giancarlo.
Yeah, with all the differentthings he's been in.
In fact, right now we'rewatching him in the residence.
Have you watched that?
Speaker 5 (28:03):
It's a new comedy,
that's out on Netflix called the
residence.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
He's actually the guy
that gets killed in it, but
then the whole thing is goingback.
It's a whodunit.
It's kind of like knives outexcept it's a series.
Speaker 5 (28:15):
It was funny, so he's
in that so.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
So I mean he's right
now.
He literally is everywhere.
All right, when we come backwe'll hopefully talk to Zach.
If not, I'm going to talk somebaseball with Rob here.
Yes, big baseball fan as wehead into the season this week.
So that's when we come back.
And then later on a littletrivia contest between Rob and
(28:40):
Michelle Booyah.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Hey, I got my money
on Michelle.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
She may surprise us.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
There's some music in
there, she'll crush me.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
It's more Comic-Con
related Okay.
But, yeah, we'll see whathappens.
I think she's hustling us alittle bit by saying she doesn't
know as much as Rob, so we'llfind out.
It's on the Boone Show, myPulse Radio.

Zach on Zach Howard with Sports.

Speaker 8 (31:49):
I'm doing good, just
trying to get back to the store,
but hey, I'm on the clock soI'm just kind of milking it.
Y'all need any deliveries overthat way.
No, you need any deliveriesover towards Williamson.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
I don't think so
right now.
If you can pick up a pizza orsomething for me, that would be
nice.
Speaker 8 (32:04):
Hey, I'm on the clock
.
I don't mind doing that at all.
Nobody's listening fromcorporate right now.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
Okay Well, you're not
supposed to be calling on the
phone and driving.
Are you hands-free, at least?
Speaker 8 (32:15):
Yes, I am.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 8 (32:17):
Do I sound okay there
?
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah, good enough,
good enough, Okay, I mean, you
can't help what you sound like,so we'll just have to accept it.
Speaker 8 (32:24):
Well, you know, I
could also be a Phillies fan so
I knew you were going to startwith that.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
The season hasn't
even started yet, but I'd rather
I disagree.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
It has started.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Well, yeah, for you
guys.
That's right, because you wereover in Tokyo.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
That's right, we're
2-0.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Yeah, yeah, the team
that money can buy the Dodgers,
that's Rob's team.
But hey, if it's your team, allpower to you.
Speaker 8 (32:52):
It didn't work for
the Padres, hey, I will say, at
least they were able to have aWorld Series ring ceremony
instead of the National LeagueEast ring ceremony.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
He's always ripping
on the damn Phillies, it's like
okay, why don't we talk someClemson basketball?
Oh, I mean, that was such aglorious season Like you didn't
know how it was going to endfrom the very first tip-off.
Speaker 8 (33:16):
You're right, hey,
but you know, that's why you
play the game.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
It was certainly
inflated I can tell you that it
was certainly inflated.
Boy, oh boy.
You know, I don't know.
Have you been watching thetournament any, zach?
Speaker 8 (33:32):
What I can watch, I
will.
But when you have, you know, afive-year-old by the way, she
had the flu, so dealing withthat and then when you have an
18-month-old telling you what todo, you know it's kind of hard
to keep up with it.
Then you know the differenttimes you know I'm at work when
(33:54):
most of them's playing and thenon the weekends we have stuff to
do.
So really the only way I keepup with it is my bracket On the
bracket challenge.
I just kind of look at scoresthere, but I've had really a lot
of upsets this year.
I mean because that's why I'mdoing.
We do a bracket thing at workand then I do one with my family
(34:16):
, and the year I pick the upsets, the year the upsets don't
happen.
So I mean, you know, I shouldhave went with my.
I always look at it and say, man, I was fixing to pick that
team, or I was fixing to pickthis team.
That's happened four or fivetimes this year where that was
the team I should have picked.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
Well, you got to do.
Four or five brackets is whatyou got to do.
Speaker 8 (34:38):
I know I know, hey,
believe it or not, seriously
believe it or not, tiffany isone in the family.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Good for her.
Speaker 8 (34:46):
And she.
You know, I started to divorceher because she had, so my gosh
you try to divorce her like fourtimes each year.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
It's, this has got to
stop.
Speaker 8 (34:59):
But you see how
that's working out, you got.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Yeah, you have more
kids, that's how it's working
out.
Speaker 8 (35:04):
Yeah, yeah, but I do
want to talk about something,
though I know.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
I wasn't able to get
you All right.
Well, just so you know, it'sonly an hour-long show.
Speaker 8 (35:13):
Yes, I know, I know.
That's why, If you knew thetype of day I had, you would
understand why you didn't reallyget a text message back.
But the number one thing I wantto talk about and I can let you
go is the John Cena heel turn.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Oh yes, Rob, you're
into wrestling.
Yeah, yeah, okay.
So yeah, what do you think ofit?
Zach, Did it surprise you atall.
Speaker 8 (35:38):
Well, you know,
obviously it surprised me
because the John Cena that Iknow has always been a good guy
and of course Carson coming upis just watching it.
Sure enough, john Cena has abad guy.
Of course he's going to retire,but I don't know if they're
(36:00):
just kind of throwing it inthere to kind of see how it goes
or if it's just one of thesethings where you know he's been
good for 25 plus years.
Let's just see how, how ithappens and then let him retire.
There's all these kids arecrying out there I know, man,
because I mean he's always whatthe dad favorite.
I mean it's crazy, just like Isee something on facebook the
other day talking about we'reliving in a crazy world because
(36:22):
we've got to heal John Cena anda face, randy Orton.
Randy Orton was always the badguy.
When I was Carson's age he wasalways the bad guy and now he's
the good guy.
Speaker 5 (36:36):
Well, one thought I
had is he kept losing to the
Rock at WrestleMania.
If one thought I had is youknow he kept losing to the Rock
at WrestleMania, what if this isall just a big swerve of Cena
to stab the Rock in the back onhis?
Speaker 1 (36:46):
last WrestleMania.
That's not the first personI've heard say that Yep, yep, I
mean he's not going to retire asa bad guy.
Speaker 8 (36:55):
Right.
Speaker 5 (36:57):
I think he'll go out
on his back.
Speaker 8 (37:02):
I think that he's old
school.
I had thought about he's notgoing to retire as a bad guy.
I think you know you go back to2010, 2011,.
Somewhere in there, where MarkKeaton was supposed to retire,
he ends up slamming John CenaKind of reminds you a little bit
of that.
That I think the end of theyear he'll come back and it
won't be part of the show.
(37:22):
It'll be a thank you and how hewas a hill guy didn't like it,
I mean you know just.
But yeah, I haven't reallythought about that.
That is.
That is interesting.
Speaker 5 (37:33):
Even though you're a
Dodgers fan, you're a smart man
Can't all make good choices.
Speaker 8 (37:39):
I haven't really
thought about that.
Yeah, that would be somethingto see.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
That would make sense
.
Speaker 8 (37:44):
It's going to be a
lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Yeah, for sure, yeah,
love this time of year with all
the storylines.
Speaker 8 (37:49):
My poor sister.
One more thing and then I'lllet you go.
My poor sister, she's an AJ Leefan.
That is her all-time favoriteand we were all anticipating we
didn't get to watch the Rumblethis year together like we
usually do.
We were all anticipating that30th woman to be AJ Lee.
And it was Nikki Bella, of allpeople.
(38:10):
And where has Nikki Bella beensince then?
You know, I just I told her, Isaid one day, I said it's gonna
happen.
I said if CM Punk comes back, Isaid she's bound to come back.
So you, know, it's all aboutanticipation and stuff he's been
back a while now.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
I don't know.
We'll see.
Speaker 8 (38:27):
We'll definitely see,
but hey, it's good to be part
of the show again.
I'm glad you got this thingrocking and rolling again.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
I know you are.
Speaker 8 (38:37):
Yeah, we're taking
next week off, but we'll be.
You said that about six sevenmonths ago.
Six seven months later, here weare.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
But we will be back
on the 8th.
But we're on spring break nextweek, so I have a legitimate
excuse.
Speaker 8 (38:49):
Do you know what
April the 8th is?
What is it?
Do you happen to know whatApril the 8th is?
Speaker 1 (38:52):
Think about it.
I don't know, it's a Tuesday.
Yes, april, the 8th April the8th Is it your anniversary.
Speaker 8 (39:01):
Eight years ago,
April the 8th, I married my best
friend.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
There you go.
Yeah, I knew it was sometime inthe spring.
Yeah, april the 8th, wow, eightyears ago.
Speaker 8 (39:10):
Eight years, yeah,
well, I hope that divorce
doesn't go through before then.
Speaker 10 (39:22):
I know, yeah,
divorce doesn't go through
before then.
Uh, because I don't know.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Yeah and you know,
this is high school, isn't that
crazy I know school students.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
I don't know if I'm
getting old or you're getting
old.
No, it's just you.
It's just you.
Yeah, all right.
Well, enjoy the opening day forbaseball.
And, uh, we've got morewrestling.
We'll talk about next timewe're on, because that'll be
what right the weekend beforethe uh, uh wrestlemania.
So, uh, yeah, all right.
So, uh, thanks for calling in.
I appreciate your dedication.
Doing it while on the jobhopefully your boss isn't
listening uh, yeah, yeah, anywayoh all right.
Speaker 8 (39:49):
Well, y'all, uh,
y'all take care and uh, good
braves yeah, yeah, sure, allright, see you zach.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Uh, zach, thanks for
chiming in, all right, yeah,
didn't you?
Last year wasn't Comic-Con onthe same weekend as WrestleMania
For two?
Speaker 5 (40:04):
years in a row.
Yeah, we were sitting at ourteardown party on our phones
trying to get WrestleMania tosee the main event at local
queue, like everybody was tryingto watch it.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
So now do you know
when wrestlemania will be next
year, so you can plan around.
So you just gotta they don'tannounce it, yeah so you just
gotta hope to get in the set ofsilence.
I mean, it doesn't, it doesaffect certain guests.
Speaker 5 (40:28):
Um, so some of the
wrestling guests wrestlemania
week, there are wrestling showsevery day.
Every indie organization triesto run shows in the town.
Gcw does, roh does, new Japandoes sometimes MLW and I think
there's one out of Mexico Idon't know AAA.
(40:49):
They'll run shows in town.
So if you're a wrestling fan,you go for a week, you can see
all kinds of stuff, and so a lotof your old timers will end up
doing spots on the shows, evenif they're not in WrestleMania,
and they'll make some good moneygoing from show to show.
So I know one year when theLucha Brothers I didn't know who
they were.
I got introduced to thempre-COVID at WrestleCon.
(41:10):
A friend of mine wanted me tocome up for it in New York and I
think they wrestled sevenmatches in four days.
Oh wow.
There were matches forbreakfast cards that didn't
start till midnight.
There was one where they servedpancakes.
It's the craziest, weirdeststuff you've ever seen and it's
fun.
It's a crazy event.
That whole week is crazy.
(41:31):
If anybody has a chance to goand they're a big wrestling fan,
there's more to do than youwould ever dream of.
Usually WrestleCon's in town,so there's a convention with all
this talent there signingautographs which you might never
get to meet.
It's a pretty neat week.
If you're a wrestling fan,alright, it's in Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
Very cool.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Coming up in a couple
weeks may take a few more days
off.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
There you go.
John, I think that's a greatidea when I don't think you've
taken enough.
Speaker 1 (41:57):
Yeah uh I still got
like 80 served up.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
I could take the rest
of the semester off yeah, yeah,
all right, we're getting offtopic here, getting off topic
well, we're going to take whatcould go wrong, exactly yes, I
got about 130, so I could takelike a whole year off.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
And you probably will
at some point, hr told me.
Speaker 5 (42:18):
I was out of days.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
I bet she did, or if?
Speaker 1 (42:22):
you do take a day off
.
It's got to be with her.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
That's right, that's
right.

I think we use is it
185,000?
185,000.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
Yeah, so much bigger
than You're asking the wrong
person.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
John.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
Much bigger than.
Oh yeah, what is it, Michelle?
It's much bigger than.
Howard Johnson's now.
So but yeah, it's amazing whereyou guys have come from and how
big things are getting and Iknow you do some things as well
for charity, charity andcommunity kind of tied into this
(45:28):
whole thing.
What are you, what are youdoing with that this year?
Speaker 5 (45:31):
I tell you, one of
the biggest things that we love
to do is vet ticks, and we givethousands and thousands of
dollars of tickets to them.
It's gotten so big they have todo is vet ticks and, uh, we
give thousands and thousands ofdollars of tickets to them.
Um, it's gotten so big, theyhave to do a lottery for all the
tickets that we give them.
Speaker 2 (45:43):
um, I actually saw
that come through because my
husband's in the military and wesaw it come through and you
have to do a lottery now yeahand um, we appreciate his
service, thank you.
Speaker 5 (45:53):
So yeah, that's a big
one that's good.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
that's good.
Uh, by the, we have some goldenretrievers available.
Most of no, but he brings thatup.
I'm not doing a commercial, buta lot of the dogs that we sell
go to vets for emotional supportdogs and such, and we have some
available, so anybody wants tolet us know or need.
(46:17):
Somebody needs to have onedonated or whatever they're top
of the line AKC GoldenRetrievers.
Just let me know.
All right, Are we ready forthis trivia thing?
What we're going to do is soyou're not like doing your
answer at the same time We'lljust give Rob one and then
Michelle one, and if either onegets it wrong, the other one can
(46:39):
guess the correct answer ormove on to the next question.
We have several differentcategories.
We have movies and TV, which issuperhero and sci-fi, basically
Comics and manga.
We have gaming.
We have fandom culture, we haverole playing and board games.
(47:07):
I wish y'all could see thesetwo they're all pointing.
Speaker 2 (47:08):
They're pointing at
each other every time you say
something.
Yes, they're pointing at eachother.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
It's so cute so, um,
I should have printed this out,
so you know what category?
Um, let's start with michelle.
Is there a particular categoryyou want to start with?
Speaker 4 (47:22):
there was a tv one.
Yes, we'll do that okay.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Well, the first one
is real easy, if I can get it
right.
It's real easy when, when robgoes on with the, the guys on
word, with the upstate pulse andthose guys so into this stuff,
and I'm just, I feel like anoutsider, but I'm trying to
learn through these two times ayear that Rob comes on, but I
even know this one, okay.
(47:46):
So I'm sorry, it's going to be asoftball.
Rob, she's going to take theearly lead, she'll hit it.
She'll hit it.
All right, here we go.
What is that becomes Vision inthe Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Oh my God, it's in a lot of themovies.
Speaker 4 (48:03):
I know it is.
Speaker 3 (48:06):
I can't remember.
Speaker 1 (48:08):
Oh no, Are you
passing?
Is that your final?
Speaker 4 (48:11):
answer.
Yes, that's my final answer.
Speaker 1 (48:13):
Rob.
What is it?
Is it Jarvis?
It's Jarvis.
I was going to say that Rob'sgot a one to nothing lead early
on.
Okay, rob, what is it?
Is it Jarvis?
It's Jarvis.
I was going to say that Rob'sgot a one to nothing lead early
on.
Okay, rob, your question.
I wasn't sure it is Jarvis.
Speaker 5 (48:22):
You weren't sure, I
wasn't 100%.
I thought it's got to be Jarvis, but I wasn't 100% sure.
Speaker 1 (48:26):
All right, Rob.
What category?
Oh, surprise me.
All right, then let's do comics.
And am I missing a question?
I don't know at all.
Oh, this is this.
Speaker 5 (48:40):
First I gotta find a,
I'm gonna go with one.
That's not that easy.
That means I'll miss it.
Speaker 1 (48:42):
I mean you already
have the lead, so right, which,
uh, which mutant was the firstx-men character to appear in a
marvel comic that'd besubmariner god dang God dang
he's smart.
What is it?
Namor or whatever Namor, yeah.
Speaker 5 (49:02):
He's the first Marvel
character, really.
Speaker 1 (49:04):
Look at that.
I would have had no clue.
Speaker 5 (49:07):
Good job.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
Rob man, that's
impressive.
That's impressive.
Speaker 10 (49:10):
All right, michelle.
What category?
Speaker 5 (49:11):
What category, that
was an easy one.
Speaker 1 (49:13):

shop.
Speaker 4 (49:18):
Was there a movie
category?
That was an easy one he runs acomic book shop.
Was there a movie category?

but we'll go over there.
Surprise me which Star Warsfilm this is not that hard Was

just trying to be nice to yourwife.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
Return of the Jedi.
Speaker 5 (49:58):

lightsaber and that.
So we are not big Star Warspeople.
Speaker 1 (50:01):
That's okay.
I didn't know that.
Speaker 4 (50:03):
Now I do, we're
looking like bad geeks oh we're
okay, that's fine.

Yeah, that's also one
.
Greyhawk's a big one too.
Alright, we'll go to anotherone.
That's a great question though, because there really are a ton
of them.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
It's really
Michelle's turn.
Yeah, it's her turn.
Well, these were like reallyvague questions.
Speaker 1 (51:14):
I was afraid this was
going to happen.
Speaker 12 (51:15):
That's why it's fun,
because I don't know what the
true answer is.
Speaker 5 (51:20):
If it's right or not,
yeah, but hard questions are
fun.
That's what makes them fun.
If you can just get them all, that's not fun.
Speaker 1 (51:25):
All right here,
Michelle, I'm going to go back
to movies and TV.
In the DC Extended Universe, what is Aquaman's Atlantean name

would too.
Speaker 1 (53:34):
Yeah, I bet you would
.
My son could probably do thistoo.

You're like yeah, we aredefinitely not the age of Power
Rangers.
Speaker 1 (55:34):
I've always wanted to
do this.
Speaker 5 (55:36):

because there's so much stuff we
don't know.
You're like, no, we can't.
Well, you'll know this one,okay.
Speaker 1 (55:40):
Yeah, yeah, which
long-running oh my God, the way
this is worded.
This is going to be so fun, this is going to be really hard.
Which long-running Britishsci-fi show features alien known
as the doctor.
Doctor who?
There you go there you go allright back to role playing and
(56:00):

We're going over time.
You got a few minutes oh yeah, all right.
Speaker 2 (56:03):

reservations?
Speaker 5 (56:07):

and trade resources like wood, brick and wheat to build
settlements and cities?
Speaker 4 (56:22):
Catan Correct.
Speaker 1 (56:24):
I think that gives
her the lead now.
Speaker 5 (56:25):
She's winning.
Speaker 1 (56:26):
Yes, yeah, all right.
Next In the Call of Cthulhuthat's how you say that.
Right, yeah, mm-hmm.
Speaker 5 (56:39):
What happens when
your sanity score hits zero?
Well, your sanity score andyour Cthulhu mythos knowledge
work inversely.
So, for example, if you becauseI might have played this game
so if your knowledge of Cthulhuhits 100, your sanity hits zero.
Because they basically workinverse, you go insane the more
you know, so you go completelycrazy.
Speaker 1 (57:01):
That's correct.
Your character goes insane andbecomes unplayable.
There you go.
Speaker 5 (57:06):
Well, it depends on
how good you are.
Your DM may tell you whathorrible thing you need to do,
and then you get to do it, butyeah, Alright, which cooperative
board game involves playersworking to stop the global
spread of diseases.
Speaker 4 (57:17):
Pandemic Correct.
Speaker 1 (57:19):
Cooperative board
game involves players working to
stop the global spread ofdiseases Pandemic Correct.
Now we're picking up some steam.
These guys know the board gamesIn Magic the Gathering.
How many basic land types arethere?
Five Correct.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
Dang, she's nailing
it.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
Plains islands, swamp

What is the name of thestorytelling rpg where players

Speaker 4 (57:47):
I don't know that one

, I don't know what is it dread?

Speaker 1 (57:53):
no, no, okay.
Okay, which RPG system uses theD100 system and is known for
its brutal realism, especiallyin games like Warhammer Fantasy
Roleplay?
Hold on Repeat that.
Yeah, that's kind of acomplicated question.
Which RPG system uses the D100system and is known for its
(58:19):
brutal realism, especially ingames like Warhammer Fantasy
Roleplay?
Speaker 5 (58:23):
Well, Warhammer
Fantasy is an actual RPG, so I'm
not sure what they're.
Speaker 1 (58:32):
It's Percentile
System, whatever.
Speaker 5 (58:36):
They just got
confused how they wrote it.
Speaker 1 (58:39):
Let me see if I
forgot anything, because, lord
knows, we need to keep them hereas long as possible.
Oh, there was one more in theTV category.
What Netflix series features asuper-powered woman with a
drinking problem and a dark pastas a PI?
Speaker 4 (58:57):
Jessica Jones Correct
.
Speaker 1 (58:59):
Rob, she is crushing
you.
Told you All right.
Speaker 5 (59:03):
I already asked all
that I may be out of questions.
I was like you hit the rightone.
She's going to do good yeah.
Speaker 1 (59:09):
Yeah, that's good.
So I'm impressed becauseobviously you've learned a lot
over the years.
When you said you came intothis not knowing anything yeah,
that's all the questions.
So I think we can say thatMichelle is victorious
Absolutely.
Rob buys dinner tonight.
Speaker 5 (59:23):
She used to help me
do the questions.
We used to do geeky trivia andwe did it for several years.
We would travel around and getpaid to hold events at local
pubs.
And we did geek trivia in theearly days of the store.
It's just another way toadvertise us and that was really
fun.
But it was a lot of workBecause the goal was to come up
(59:44):
with questions you couldn'tsearch on your phone fast enough
.
So we had a whole database ofcrazy questions that she helped
with and we would mess withpeople and make them tricky, and
it was a really good time.
We had a lot of fun.
I mean, Sometimes we werepulling 50 people to come do
trivia which is a pretty goodcrowd.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Nowadays you can type
and look this, they just hit.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Alexa and listen to
y'all.
Speaker 1 (01:00:08):
Yeah, that too.
Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
Your answer is there.
Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
If you use the video
portion you can just show it a
book and they'll tell youeverything.
Speaker 5 (01:00:17):
It's a shame that
people are so small that you're
like hey, the point is, do youknow it?
Like everybody can Google it.
Boy, you're special yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
Takes the fun out of
it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
Well, it's their
small-minded, and you know the
sad part of that is they saythat that's contributing to
dementia as people get olderbecause they don't learn anymore
, they don't have to remember,they don't?
yeah, they just look it all upso their brain's not working
hard anymore, and it tends tolead to that, and that's
(01:00:48):
obviously a big problem nowadaysfor various reasons.
Um, all right, but anyway, let's move on to more happier
things.
Uh, way to be a downer, john.
What's going on at the store?
What's, uh, what's going on atthe store?
What's going on at the store?
What do you got going on?
You got some trends or thingsyou can tell us about?
What's everybody buying?
Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
What kind of sales
you having, I tell you,
comic-wise, dc relaunchedeverything with a story called
Absolute, and the concept behindthis is that the big bad guy,
darkseid, created a universewhere all the major heroes he
took away the thing that hethought made him special and
(01:01:24):
then these characters developedin a different way and he
thought they would be weak anduseless.
For example, batman grew upwithout the money.
He's still Batman, he stillbecomes Batman, he finds a
different way to do things.
You know that superman doesn'thave the kents to keep him
grounded, but he still ends upbecoming superman.
So the stories show that thecharacter of these people, it
(01:01:46):
isn't just one thing, it's acharacter of who they are and
that has been a huge hit.
Um, ultimate spider-man, whichthey relaunched.
Um is about a year in.
It's still doing super well.
And uh, transformers in gi joeum were licensed out to robert
kirkman.
This guy created this thingcalled walking dead.
Might have heard of it.
(01:02:06):
It was a little bit of a thingjust a little bit yeah, and he
loves them and so he was able toget all this big name talent
and they relaunched transformersin gi joe and it has been
incredible how well it's sold, how much different and awesome
the stories are.
Like Transformers is sellinglike 70% of Batman, which is
insane.
Like it's never sold like thatever.
(01:02:27):
And it's because of how good itis.
People pick it up don't evenlike Transformers.
I'm not a Transformers person,I'm a little bit too old for it.
But one of my guys said you gotto read it, boss, and I read it
and I went.
It's incredible.
It was a really great story andI connected to it without
having that you know kind ofemotional connection to these
characters.
So those have done great.
Obviously, pokemon blew upagain around November and it's
(01:02:49):
been insane.
Magic's doing great.
Lorkana, star Wars and OnePiece are all big card games
people are doing.
Now Warhammer is always big.
Obviously, we have a lot ofmanga in the kids' section.
All those things always do well.
Speaker 1 (01:03:02):
Manga or manga.
What's the proper way to say it?
Speaker 5 (01:03:05):
I like to say manga,
because it drives people crazy.
I like that manga.
It always drives them nuts.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
Okay, what else did I
want to say here?
Yeah, give the website for thestore and the address
borderlandsus in 410 SouthPleasantburg nice big store
doing well, we stopped by thereafter Comic Con Junior.
In the fall, my son's going inthere.
He just spent the whole time atComic Con and then he goes to
(01:03:39):
borderlands afterwards and gets.
Speaker 2 (01:03:41):
I have a son that
does the same thing.
We appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
We really do and now
it's time for our favorite part
of the show, when we wrap up andwe ask for guest
recommendations in twocategories, one being
entertainment.
If there's a show or movie orsomething that's streaming, a
series or something that thatpeople can binge, uh, or a book
that you're reading, somethingyou can recommend to the
(01:04:08):
listeners, we'll do theentertainment first and then
we'll come back and do the food.
Uh, rob what you got.
Speaker 5 (01:04:15):
I'm going to take it.
Okay, rogue Heroes on.
I knew that's what she wasgoing to want to do.
Rogue Heroes on Amazon, youmight have to get MGM Plus.
It's the story of the SAS,which is the British Special
Forces, and how that was formedin World War II, but it's
written by the people that didPeaky Blinders, so it's snarky
(01:04:36):
and funny and has a bunch ofgood action in it and I really
highly recommend it.
It's not for the kids but itdoes have an amazing soundtrack.
Like in the very beginning itwas like ACDC and stuff like
that, like a really cool rockingsoundtrack.
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
Is it a series?
Speaker 5 (01:04:47):
It's a series.
It's a series Okay, yeah, it'sreally really good Rogue Heroes.
Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
All right, Michelle I
was going to the same road,
heroes.
Speaker 5 (01:04:53):
I know that's why he
took it from me.
We love it.
Speaker 4 (01:04:55):
I still like watching
Ted Lasso, I still go back and
watch.
Ted Lasso any chance we get.
Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
Yeah, it's one of
those rare shows that leaves you
feeling good at the end?
Speaker 4 (01:05:05):
Yeah, isn't that a
nice plus?
Speaker 5 (01:05:07):
And that's hard to
find nowadays it's too hip and
cool to be negative.
Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
Yeah, and of course
season four is supposed to.
They're in the writing processnow, which wasn't supposed to
happen originally, and I guessthey're exploring him doing a
women's team.
Speaker 5 (01:05:24):
Yes, that makes sense
.
Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
Because that was kind
of the tease at the end of
season three.
So that should be interesting.
Whole new slate of materialthere, certainly.
So we'll see what happens withthat, but glad to see that
coming back All right.
So let's do the food.
This can be a restaurant thatyou visited, local or chain or
(01:05:48):
whatever, a particular dish youtried, or something you just
tried at home, a new recipe, orsomething that you can turn
people on to.
Let's start with Michelle.
Speaker 4 (01:05:57):
We like a lot of the
local restaurants.
Our favorite is Local Q.
If you like wings, yes, thebest wings.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
Where's that at?
It is on Orchard Park Drive.
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:06:07):
Across from.
It's right off of 385.
Speaker 10 (01:06:09):
Haywood, right off
Haywood, local Q, local Q.
Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
The best wings.
They're flash fried.
When you said wings, I had toknow yeah, oh, that's when
they're the best.
Speaker 5 (01:06:16):
They're smoked and
then flash fried.
Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
And all the sauces
are on the side.
Really good tater tots.
Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
Very good.
Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
Everything's good.
We've never had anything badthere.
Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
Alright local Q.

Speaker 1 (01:06:36):
How do you know?
It's every singlerecommendation that people make.
She's already been there.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Their cheese bread.
It's a whole loaf of bread.
It is, it's phenomenal.
Speaker 5 (01:06:44):
Their cheese bread,
is they?
Take a loaf of bread.
They cut it, they shove garliccheese and butter on it and then
they stick the entire loaf inthe pizza oven.
It comes out looking like thelava monster from star trek, oh
my god, it's so good um.
They're really sweet people.
It's family owned their sauceis great, they're good humans.
(01:07:06):
Uh, everything's made there.
Yes, um, they.
Uh, it's possible that they'rehelping cater the green room and
so is local q?
Um at sc comic con.
So we're trying to do localrestaurants and trying to
support local folks.
So really, really good man Ihighly recommend.

kind of particular with ours.

places.
Speaker 2 (01:07:30):

dressing too.
