Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey everybody,
welcome to the Boone Show on
MyPulse Radio.
We're back after a few weeksoff do some other things, but
we're here and we're ready totalk some Comic-Con with our
favorite guest.
I can say.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Well, he's one of the
most common.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
He really is.
Speaker 4 (00:18):
And he really is a
favorite.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Like how many years
have you been coming here, Rob?
Speaker 4 (00:21):
Oh my gosh.
So let's think about this aminute.
So when I first started coming, there was like a closet studio
down there and it wasn't thisincredible studio that's as good
as any studio in the upstateman.
It might be 10 years.
Speaker 6 (00:38):
It might be because
yeah, that was a while ago.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
This studio has been
here now six years.
I believe Six years Because itwas right before COVID.
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
I say it every time
Like this studio is as good as
you know Rise Guys or Hawk andTom or any of those.
It's really incredible.
You guys do an unreal job.
Speaker 5 (00:58):
Thank you, we're very
fortunate.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Yes, we are very
fortunate.
Speaker 5 (01:01):
We got a lot of
support around here, that's for
sure.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
Yeah, I tell you it
shows and you don't waste it.
I mean, that's one thing forsure, right?
Speaker 5 (01:07):
That's true.
This place looks amazing.
Well, thank you, we appreciateit.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
She has high demands
as well.
That's why we have to.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
I have great support.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
I have a boss like
that too, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Unfortunately, she on
the show too.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
I know she felt so
bad.
Yeah, we're having our kitchenremodeled.
We live out in the woods in acabin and that was the promise
when we moved in that she'd geta nicer kitchen.
Speaker 6 (01:30):
Right.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
And a friend of ours
has a paint company and it's
really good and the guy was outthere working really hard and so
it was just taking a while andshe went.
I'm not going to make it.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Hey, there's,
priorities.
And a new kitchen is right upthere.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Trust me, I like
everything she cooks in it.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
She's a really good
cook.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
So give her
everything she wants.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Whatever she wants,
that's right.
Whatever she wants.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
As we kick off, we've
got a few things to talk about.
Obviously, the fall edition ofComic-Con coming up in just a
couple of weeks.
We want to know what's going onat the stores, and you've got
some new comic books that arecoming out.
What next week is official onthat?
Actually, tomorrow Tomorrowokay.
So we are right on the edgehere.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
As always.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
With the latest news
and what's going on.
But if you don't mind, you hadthis medical issue, if you don't
mind.
No, no, no, no, I'm okaytalking about it unfortunately I
didn't ask you ahead of time, but you went out of the country
get some, uh, some work.
What was it?
Your knee?
Speaker 4 (02:33):
um, actually I've got
uh, spinal issues, spinal
issues.
This is a fascinating story Ihad um I have four aminostenosis
in my neck so it's pinched onboth sides of my neck
bilaterally.
Uh, coming out nerves are.
And, uh, degenerative bonedisease in my neck.
So it's pinched on both sidesof my neck bilaterally um,
coming out nerves are, and adegenerative bone disease in my
spine from running and wrestlingand jujitsu and just all the
awful things I've done to mybody over the years.
And, um, um, so we ran.
(02:55):
I went to Mexico to a placecalled CPI that a lot of
fighters and things go to, and,um, I had 12 injections on my
spine.
I had both knees injected.
I had my left shoulder done.
They did five MRIs while I wasthere.
So I'm a little claustrophobic,so an hour in an MRI machine
was heaven, but you just kind ofget through it and I tell you
(03:19):
what's crazy is they did.
We were laughing a lot.
My team jokes how I just staydriven and just go.
And when they did the MRIs theycame back and went.
Did you know?
You had a partially torn MCLand a partially torn bicep
tendon in your shoulder and Iwent, no, and the doctor went
doesn't it hurt?
And I went, yes, and he went.
(03:40):
Well, what do you do?
I don't care, I just keep going.
Yeah, I just ignore it and keepgoing.
I had no idea, but I justfigured wear and tear on knees
and that shoulder dislocateswhere I've done crazy stuff to
it.
The experience was great.
The people were awesome.
My partner, like sitting in aroom like my next-door neighbor,
I guess was Dominic Cruz,two-time UFC Bantamweight
(04:02):
champion.
Wow, really nice man, reallycool, and we chatted about
fights and we chatted about theinjuries and things.
He was really nice.
And then Max Griffin, who alsofights in the UFC, was there and
he and I have been texting andhe's a great guy.
We talk about the fights allthe time and there's a lady
whose name I can't remember, butshe's a nitro circus person and
(04:25):
the fighters liked her andshe's done all these crazy car
jumps and crazy stuff and shewas super cool.
Everybody there was great.
The experience was great.
The food was off the chain.
The food in the hospital wouldblow you away.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
So where would you?
Speaker 3 (04:42):
come up with the idea
.
I'm just going to go to Mexicoand get this done.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
So I've done stem
cells previously at a place
called Ways to Well.
They're in Houston and AustinRogan talks about it.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
And I've done
supplements and different things
from them before too.
It helped a little.
But in the US the amount ofstem cells I can give you is
really small.
So you're looking at 5 or 10million at the absolute most.
Um, I got 250 million total.
So it was a lot.
Um, it wasn't.
It wasn't cheap and insurancedon't cover it, um, so it is a
(05:16):
thing you kind of have to saveup for.
But I mean, you only got oneride in this show sure and uh, I
want to try to make myself sowhen I have grandkids so so
these stem cells are supposed tofix, regenerate.
They regenerate tissue.
So the simplest way to thinkabout it is and it's a great way
they described it to us is youare growing baby tissue.
(05:37):
So, for example, for 90 days,no alcohol, no nicotine, no
cannabis, if that's your thing.
I mean, those things bothaffect the stem cells and affect
inflammation.
They actually know ibuprofen.
So you don't want, you want theinflammation.
It hurts so it's going to hurtfor the next 90 days for sure it
(06:00):
doesn't feel good, right, butat the same time that the stem
cells are attracted to it andthen they try to fix it.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
Very interesting.
So what they do with your spineis they go in and they actually
inject it into the disc withsome stuff that turns it more
into a gel, so it stays, andthen it tries to grow the disc
to create separation on thenerves.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
So when was this done
?
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Second to last week
of July.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Okay, so now you've
been at what?
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Three months, almost
two months, two months, yeah,
two months, I think we, I'mgoing to have my my first real
drink at the con.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
I think it's like a
week early, or something we said
I'm going to have a drink witheverybody there to celebrate the
convention, you know.
So are you seeing any progress?
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Um, so I would say
that, uh, uh, the first few
weeks were uncomfortable.
Um, where I'm in a big whatsappgroup that's another thing they
do.
That's really cool.
So everybody in your class isin the whatsapp group so people
can share their timelines, or soeverybody that got what you
done or something similar yeah, you're in this one group just
together, and there's alsosomeone monitoring it from the
(07:01):
company so they can answerquestions.
How cool is that?
It's a great idea becausethey're on the same track.
So somebody a month earlier, you guys aren't on the same
track, and so we're in there andsomebody might go, hey, I'm
really hurt, and how's everybodyelse doing.
Or you might go like, hey, Ifound this supplement that's
helping, or whatever Right, orthis therapy.
Have you started your physicaltherapy?
Those kind of things?
(07:21):
It's been great and that's achoice.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
You don't have to do
it.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
You don't have to,
but I mean, like that fighter
Max Griffin's in there all thetime.
He's like hey, guys, here'swhat's working and he's a
sweetheart.
He's one of the nicest people.
That's so cool A really greatguy, and so for that it helps.
For me it was those first fewweeks.
It was a lot of discomfort, which just kind of becomes the
norm.
And then now I've noticed thatmy neck the pain is dull, not as
(07:48):
sharp, it's still really tight.
I've got to do a lot ofphysical therapy.
Same thing with my lower back.
I actually feel like right nowmy knees are a little worse I
don't think they're better andthe shoulder occasionally will
catch a little bit.
So I don't know if there's sometissue growing or what's going
on.
And so it's, uh, you're notsupposed to work.
Is this crazy?
So for two weeks I couldn'teven like carry laundry upstairs
(08:09):
.
I could walk, that's it, whichis really hard.
And then, uh, you can do alittle bit, and then after 90
days you can't even startworking out till after that, and
then it's like a 10% and then aweek 20, week 20 yeah, you
really have to break in slowbecause it's brand.
You know we don't think about it, but it's brand new tissue.
(08:29):
It's like an infant yeah andyou got to give it time and very
cool.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
Well, I certainly
hope this works for you.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
I appreciate it.
I mean I, I got confidence.
You know, I feel like I'll getsome improvement, whatever that
is.
And uh, and some of the peoplethat were with me were two
people that had autoimmunediseases and you're looking at
them and you're like God, I hopeit works.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
Right.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Because they're way
worse off.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
And the sweetest
people.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
Like just everybody
was so sweet.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
How long did you stay
down in Mexico?
A?
Speaker 4 (08:56):
week, a week, yeah,
you go in on a Sunday and while
it's expensive, once you arrive, you fly in, they cover your
hotel.
It was a four or five-starSheraton resort in San Diego
near the airport and they coveryour hotel there.
And then they cover yourtransport to Tijuana, they cover
your hotel there.
All your meals, except likethree nights' dinner, are
(09:20):
covered, and then they'retransported back.
So I mean there are otherthings covered.
They take you back to either theairport or that.
Sheraton is the two places inCalifornia.
Yeah, the transport will takeyou.
And then, uh, I was staying oneextra night, uh, cause it was
too late to fly back.
So I just Ubered to my hoteland I got lucky.
(09:42):
I called one of my buddies andit was during San Diego
Comic-Con.
And my buddy, dave, goes whatare you doing?
I'm like I'm in the gas lamp atSan Diego.
You're what?
Okay, we're going to dinner.
I said, all right, what time amI meeting you?
He goes well, can you walk?
I'm like, yeah, I can walk,I'll be okay.
And he said meet me at thefront of the convention center.
And so he had a pass and I gotin for like two hours.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
How cool is that?
Speaker 4 (10:06):
And walked around and
said hey to some friends who
didn't think I was going to bethere.
So it was kind of neat to catchup with people.
Yeah, it was fun.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Interesting.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
I appreciate y'all
asking.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Do other people get
as much done in one time as you
do?
I was the only person goingquite as crazy as I did.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
I made some really
funny, funny jokes.
This won't be too inappropriateto be on air, I don't think,
but it was pretty funny.
So when you go in to do it likeif it's just your knee or
something, they're just going tokind of do a topical, it's
going to hurt, right, they'regoing to do the knee on your
knee.
For me I was going to be kindof half out of it because they
were going to have to put meunder to do my spine and it's
(10:45):
like what they call twilight.
But for me you could hit meover the head with a hammer,
like you'd twilight me, and I'mout.
And so I go in and everyonespeaks English, everybody's
great, and the guy goes oh, mrYoung, are you ready?
I said well, you know Itraveled 2,500 miles across two
continents to be half nakedaround six strangers.
(11:07):
So I think I'm good.
Speaker 7 (11:08):
I think we've
accomplished our mission.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
I think it's all good
, I think I'm good to go.
And all of them just starteddying laughing.
He goes well, I'm glad you'renot as nervous as the last guy.
I said no, no, I'm terrified,yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
And how the last guy
may count.
Yes, this is how I do it.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
We disarm it with
comedy.
Very cool.
They were really great.
I don't have any complaints atall.
They were really good people.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
And so you must have
done a lot of research on this
particular place.
A year and a half, yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
A year and a half of
research on them, and they
started with cancer treatmentsand they had, I think, four or
five cancer treatments that arenow certified by the FDA, and
they were, I think, four or fivecancer treatments that are now
certified by the FDA and theywere saving people's lives.
How cool is that.
Right, and so that's the bigthing.
And then the other piece wasafter they looked at my
situation my existing MRIs theyput me in a program so I get to
(11:59):
go back, and other people werein it too.
I get to go back at six months.
If I cover transport, they'llpay for MRIs and they'll give me
30 million free stem cells tocapture data, and they want to
capture it at six months and 12months because they're working
with RFK to make this legal inthe United States for everybody.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
How cool is that.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Yeah, yeah, stem
cells has proven to be
incredible and they're just onthe cutting edge the of it right
now.
Yeah, and it's gonna get.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
yeah, I think they're
gonna understand a lot they're
just so far ahead of what we cando in the us.
But it's not because peoplearen't capable, right?
Speaker 5 (12:32):
it's because they're
not allowed restrictions right
right, it's all these crazyrestrictions and there's reasons
why we have some restrictions, absolutely oh, absolutely.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
And the difference
with this is is you had, uh, big
pharma, I think,counter-programming it, saying
it was fetal and all that kindof stuff, and it's not, it's
from umbilical cords andplacentas, and then down there
they clone them.
So you get some and then theycan clone them and they work
fine.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
How cool is that.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
That's the deal.
Amazing, it's crazy.
It feels like Star Trek, yeahRight.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
That's funny, I guess
.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Star Wars right, they
cut Luke's hand off when they
grew up.
Speaker 7 (13:05):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
We'll still say Star.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Trek, I'll say
Stargate.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
I like Stargate
better than all of them it feels
like Stargate, anything with astar in it Battlestar Galactica,
that's right.
Star something, that's right.
Yeah, it's funny because, uh,during our little news segment
today, I tried to hook somethings up that you might, that
might, apply to a comic-con typeaudience, and a lot of it has
(13:33):
to do with tech that is nowavailable that you only saw with
superheroes in the past, soit's kind of interesting stuff.
We'll get to that.
But um, tell us about sccomic-con fall edition.
You changed the name we did.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Junior has grown up,
I guess, uh yeah, he's known as
fall edition now you got toadmit the things that didn't
work and we really tried to getthat branding over and I just
couldn't figure out how to do itand uh, so we decided to make
it fall edition and that way ifwe did, uh something else, we
could do an sc comic-con horroredition or an SC Comic-Con
(14:07):
whatever you know, sports cardedition.
So it gives us kind of choicesdoing it that way and that's why
we did it.
Very cool and we're reallylooking forward to this man.
I think we've got a really goodguest lineup.
It's coming up on October 5th,11 to 6.
We've got Trick or Treat andFree Comics, even though it's
just a hair earlier this year.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
October 5th yeah,
that's the date they got Kids 12
and under.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Free Tickets are $18.
Something we haven't done forthe one-day show is we do have a
VIP, so it's $40,.
Early entry Folks get someexclusive variant comics that
the uh.
The covers are only availablefrom us because we made them and
uh, but they also get to theearly entries, the big one, but
(14:51):
they also have a fast pass onany of the celebrities that they
want to see.
So they can cut to the front andsave a little time and it's not
very expensive.
I mean, 40 bucks is not a bigdeal, Um.
So we've got that, Um, butguest wise, I think it's a
pretty good lineup.
Paul Taylor, Hellraiser, kindof a cool one, right.
Pim Head, Tia Ballard One PieceDarling in the Franz Franks
(15:14):
Franks, I think, is how youpronounce it Big one.
Walter Jones, Black PowerRanger, kind of huge.
Jerry Inman was in Dragon Ball, and One Piece Apparently people
know who those animes are andpretty big.
And then you know, for those ofus that are wrestling nerds, we
don't have to worry aboutgetting the tables because D-Von
.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
Dudley is going to do
it for us.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
We have.
D-von Dudley of the Dudley Boyswhen you pay your money, can he
put you through a table?
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Oh man.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
That would be great.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
That would be great,
or at least see somebody else go
through a table even if it'snot you, that's a good idea
fundraiser
Speaker 4 (15:49):
do you want to go
through the table when I trained
for wrestling back in the 90'sbecause I had a ring announce
and did some of that stuff whenI was young.
I took chair shots but I didnot go through a table that is
one thing I did not do you couldprobably make some money.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
Do a raffle right $10
ticket.
We Devon throws you through atable, sign a waiver.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
We don't want him to
throw his back out now either,
though that's true, devon's inrough shape.
Yeah, devon, that's true, Ithink.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Devon does have some.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
How old is he?
Speaker 4 (16:13):
He'll be headed down
to Mexico.
I bet you Devon's, probably 60would be my guess.
I mean, time flies, he's not asold as you think, though,
because Sting was in his 70s,but Sting started in the early
mid-80s 53.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Look at that, that's
it.
Wow, I would have guessed older.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Man I tell you what
the ECW arena would put a lot of
miles on your body.
Those boys were really, reallyrough on each other and that was
one place I never.
I saw ECW Like.
I traveled with friends whenthey were the thing, so we would
, you know, get one hotel roomwith God knows how many guys and
we would go hang out.
But we traveled to see them.
But we never went to Philly, wenever actually went to the ECW
(16:56):
Arena, but that venue stillhosts wrestling to this day.
Oh, wow 2300 Arena is what theycall it, and AEW just did a
residency there.
I think they did two or threeweeks of their AEW Dynamite show
from there.
They were bringing in ECWlegends just for spots for the
crowd and for everybody to seethem and to give them their what
do they call it these days?
(17:16):
Give them their roses orwhatever.
I just call it paying respectsto somebody who worked their
tail off.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Give them their
flowers, that's right.
Give them their flowers.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
yeah, but I thought
it was really cool that they did
that.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
That is cool.
So any other guests you cantell us about?
Speaker 4 (17:31):
That's it.
It was just those for the oneday.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
We don't do a huge
guest list because this is
really small, and is thisintended that this will still be
small?
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Yeah, it's still
50,000 square feet Only 50,000.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
Square feet Only
50,000 square feet and the big
show is like 210,000 orsomething.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
So, yeah, it is
definitely smaller, but it's a
lot of fun and I think it's agreat way to get out and have a
lot of fun for a day.
Scratch that itch, get somecomics, get some toys, meet a
guest, see some friends, but itdoesn't take all weekend.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Yeah, okay, so what's
, but it doesn't take all
weekend.
Yeah, okay, so what's going onat the store these days?
Speaker 4 (18:09):
The store's been
doing great.
There's some big comic releasestomorrow and there's a
Spider-Man Magic the Gatheringset dropping this weekend.
I believe Our pre-releasesshould be Friday Popular.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
So if they're
dropping tomorrow, when do you
get?
Physically get them?
It varies.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
So sometimes we'll
get stuff on Thursday or Friday
of the previous week andsometimes we might not get it
till Monday.
Monday or Tuesday.
This time I think theseparticular books we got on
Monday.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
So are you?
Do you have a contract orsomething to say?
I will not give them out orsell them.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
Yeah, they know the
on-sale date and there are
people that break it and whatnot.
I mean I'm not aware of anybodyaround here and we don't really
try to police it.
There are other areas of thecountry where it's been a real
problem, but you know we do agood job with it.
I mean we even deal withScholastic, like for Dogman.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
We actually have to
sign a lay-down contract for
every issue of Dogman.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
Really.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Yeah, isn't that
crazy Dogman's popular with the
kids, it is the.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
I believe the
best-selling graphic novel in
America.
Wow.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Is Wow.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
It was Dogman.
Yeah, I was asking him theother day.
You know who?
Some of their heroes werefictional heroes and yeah,
dogman came up a lot.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
Of course, spider-man
was probably at the top, but
with all they've done withSpider-Man over the last several
years, with all the differentuniverses and everything.
Yeah, the Edge of the.
Spider-verse stuff, the movies,I think have really gotten the
kids engaged and it's also madeit easier for video games and
other stuff to sell and theywere really well done yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
I thought they were
good.
Yeah, so show us for the peopleon YouTube that are watching,
show us what you brought that'sgoing to be released.
See, this isn't out yet.
This is like double-knocksecret spy stuff.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Right, this comes out
tomorrow right, yeah, it comes
out tomorrow.
So, guys, this hasn't happenedin most probably 60, 70% of your
comic collector's lifetimes.
Speaker 7 (20:14):
Wow, isn't that
amazing.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
It hasn't happened
since the 90s that DC and Marvel
have really worked together.
So, deadpool, batman, how crazyis this?
Speaker 5 (20:23):
Right.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
So we got Deadpool
Batman and it's an anthology
book.
Um, it'll be like seven bucks.
It's pretty big, feels likeit's maybe, uh, 75 pages or
something pretty big.
Um, but it's not just DeadpoolBatman, so that's what's cool.
So we were talking about itbefore we went live.
But, uh, captain America, wonder Woman is by Chip Sadarsky
and Terry Dotson.
Now, those, those names may notmean much to you.
(20:46):
All those are superstars in thecomic industry.
And then the Daredevil GreenArrow was written by are you
ready?
Kevin Smith, as in the KevinSmith Mallrats.
That's right, all that clerksDrawn by Adam Kubert, who is
just a wonderful human being.
And then Rocket, raccoon andGreen Lantern, old man Logan and
(21:08):
this is kind of cool, it'sactually written by Frank Miller
Old man Logan and Batman.
The Dark Knight Returns Batmanso kind of the classic Batman
story, where he's old and he's alittle more aggressive.
We'll say Doesn't take a lot ofstuff.
And then Old man Logan is thesame thing for wolverine, which
means he's kind of violent.
Um, they get to meet.
(21:29):
And then, of course, youroriginal story with uh, with
deadpool and batman, is drawn bygreg capullo, who is just a
legend.
Right, he's the guy thatrelaunched batman when new 52
happened back in 2011.
I still contribute that tobeing one of the really cool
things for the store when we didour releases.
(21:50):
For all that New 52 was crazy.
This is an homage to a veryfamous for those of you on
YouTube, to a famous Hulk coverwhere Wolverine shows his claws
and you can see the Hulk in them.
So there you go.
Very cool and then got our, gotour, our hot chick cover with uh
magic and cat woman, and then,uh, the infinity gauntlet.
(22:12):
Uh, there's actually morecovers in this.
I didn't bring them all.
I think there's 15 or 18 coverssomething crazy.
So yeah, pretty fun that's cool.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Do you see this as
something that will continue?
Is it a one off type thing?
Speaker 4 (22:23):
um, this is a one
shotshot, and then they're going
to do a Batman Deadpool that DCwill publish and then after
that, I mean I hope it'ssuccessful and they keep doing
it.
I think when you see these twocompanies working together,
everybody wants to try it andbuy it and there's no reason not
to.
Like they're both making money.
You know.
(22:43):
There's no reason not to like.
They're both making money, youknow.
Yeah, it's like why, wouldn'tyou do this, and it's a product
people want, yeah, so very coolhopefully they will.
I'm I'm really hoping.
The 90s they did a lot.
They did a lot of really goodstories and those books still
sell as back issues isn't thatcrazy, yeah I bet you they did
25 of them.
It's a lot they did a lot ofcrossovers and they were very
(23:04):
successful.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
So how many?
Speaker 4 (23:11):
of these issues are
you?
I mean, did you just order acertain quantity and just hope
they all sell?
Yeah, so, unlike a newsstandold-school newsstands like we
were growing up, like they wouldjust be allocated books and
whatever they sold, they gotlike a small discount, so maybe
25% or something.
And the way the direct marketdeveloped, a guy named Phil
Suling was real instrumental inkind of coming up with this
(23:33):
concept and he went to thepublishers back in the 70s.
He started it and I think itreally kicked in in around 80,
81.
And it was like, if we buythese books and I had to say
I'll buy them, can I get abetter deal?
Gotcha, and so that's how ourmarket develops.
Speaker 7 (23:51):
You have to buy them.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
I have to commit and
they're ours.
No returnability, they're justours, and so we have to use our
data and make our best guess.
Some of the folks go to a shoplike why are they sold out?
Everybody knew it would be hot.
And usually it's a thing wherepeople know in the for.
The best way I can put it isthey know in the for.
The best way I can put it isthey know in the back.
You know now, but maybe wedidn't know how big it would be
(24:15):
60 to 90 days ago when weordered Right Right.
You never know.
If they're going to drop mediaand maybe it's a slow news day
and today's show picks it up.
That's happened before.
You're like well, there'snothing we can do about it.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
Right.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
Because they pick it
up on like Monday or Tuesday.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Right.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
You're done.
There's no more books to order.
You can't get them in time.
Yeah, but we ordered a lot ofthis, so I would say it may be
the biggest book we've orderedthis year numbers wise or close
to it.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Oh, wow, so the fans
are really into this, because
sometimes DC and Marvel fans arelike one or the other.
Yeah, it's kind of interesting.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
You do get people
that fall into a camp, but for
the most part you know peopleread what, what they think's
good.
Yeah, you know, I mean you cansay I'm a marvel guy, but if
there's a great batman bookyou're gonna look at it.
Who hates batman, right?
Speaker 1 (25:04):
exactly, exactly, all
right, um, much, much more with
rob young coming up, but wehave probably a sad guy on the
line right now to talk sportsbecause all of his teams are
just falling apart.
We need to probably sendsomebody over to his house to
make sure he's okay.
Do a wellness check.
We have Zach here.
(25:25):
Zach, how are you doing, buddy?
Speaker 7 (25:29):
My goodness, he
started it with.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
It's been a rough
couple of weeks it has.
Speaker 7 (25:33):
Hey, you enjoy that
ring ceremony.
National league east champsinstead of your world series
rings we better get the worldseries we gotta go through rob's
dodgers yeah, I'll pull for thephillies, just for you.
Oh, thanks just for you?
Yeah, I mean you know, let'sjust for you.
Oh, thanks, philly's just foryou.
Yeah, I mean you know Clemson'sabout to straighten out.
I mean you know there's nothingelse to it.
(25:56):
Let's get the offense going.
Yeah, what's?
Speaker 1 (25:59):
the deal with that.
Speaker 7 (26:01):
Just our
quarterback's missing open guys,
wide open guys, wide open guys.
Clemson should be 3-0 right now.
I mean, that's just all thereis to it, not really much else,
to say, yeah, okay, we've got anew defensive coordinator and he
is supposed to stop.
You know, just make plays andlook better.
(26:21):
Well, when your offense ain'tdoing their job, it's different.
When you're scoring seven, theopponent's scoring seven and
you're back and forth, back andforth, back and forth, back and
forth, back and forth.
But when the defense is havingto stop and make the plays,
they're going to wear down andthat's what's happened.
(26:41):
And I knew Clemson.
I knew, when the schedule comeout, that there was a potential
start of either 1-2 or 2-1.
I knew they were not going togo 3-0 because of where Georgia
Tech landed on the schedule.
If Georgia Tech stays healthy, they're going to be a playoff
team this year.
(27:03):
They are, I mean they are.
There's nothing else I can saybecause they are just good.
And I knew week three, especially after the LSU game.
You know you come out of that, thank goodness, injury-free,
besides Antonio Williams.
You know you come out of thathosting LSU.
Then you barely beat Troy, which I think pretty much was a
(27:25):
hangover because everybody weektwo struggled, they had the big
games, and then when you play atGeorgia Tech week three, that's
kind of like Clemson'skryptonite a little bit, because
you never know what GeorgiaTech team you're going to get.
You just don't, you don't everknow, kind of like we can beat
South Carolina unless we playthem at noon.
We just cannot beat SouthCarolina if we play them at noon
(27:47):
and I'm wondering if that's whywe're playing them at 12
o'clock this year, you know, even though it's in
Williams-Brice, you know.
So there's just not really muchelse to say.
I mean, I listen to that BushPress Conference every Tuesday
and you know we're just one playaway.
Well, we need to find that oneplay.
You know, we need to find thatone play.
And the good thing is I put onfacebook the other day hey, the
(28:10):
good thing is the tickets justgot cheaper.
I'll be able to go to a gamethis year you might even get a
parking pass.
I mean, you should be able toget those as well I had somebody
that was giving me parkingpasses last year and I've yet to
hear from them.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
You know so don't
even, don't even.
I told you the last time I hadpasses for you I know okay.
Speaker 7 (28:30):
Okay okay, I know.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
But I'll be honest
with you this is a tailgate
season.
This is not a football season.
Speaker 7 (28:36):
I don't blame you.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
She'll give away the
tickets and keep the parking.
Speaker 7 (28:39):
I do not blame you
one bit.
That's the potential, you know, that's why I like to go.
I mean, I'll never forget myuncle, my cousin used to have
season tickets and they wouldpark at Strong Thurman Institute
.
It was first come, first served.
And when they would get thereat 5 o'clock in the morning, it
didn't matter if the kickoff was8 o'clock at night, 12 o'clock
(29:00):
in the morning, 3.32, it didn'tmatter, they were there.
And my uncle said I just don'tlike getting there at 8 o'clock
because there's only so muchcornhole I can play.
So I get it.
You know I enjoy the tailgate,I do, I enjoy tailgating and to
me that's what it's all about,just tailgating.
(29:20):
But we'll see what they got.
I mean Syracuse comes to town, hopefully they can back at home,
hopefully they can straightenout and win a couple.
And you know, because it don'tget easier, I mean they play
Syracuse and they play bi-week.
You know that would be a toughone bi-week.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (29:38):
And then you know
they're at Boston College, at
North Carolina or vice versa, can't remember the order Boston
and then North Carolina, andthen they play I believe it's
SMU, and then I believe theyhave a bi-week again, or right
after Duke, and then FloridaState comes to town.
So you're going to have to getthese next three wins.
You know, let's come outSaturday and make a statement.
Whether your defense wins thegame, whether your offense wins
(30:00):
the game, make a statement thisSaturday, get these next three
wins.
Because I think something on Xthe other day, where it was like
the next three games was Iforgot the first word they used,
but it was like get thingstogether that had the next three
games and then it had the nextthree.
After that, um, find your way.
(30:23):
And then I think the last threewas be Clemson.
Again, Clemson still has theirseason ahead of them.
All everything can.
Let me tell you I'd rather themstart out like this, where you
know you can still play your wayinto some things, than to lose
three or four straight.
So you know, we'll see whathappens.
(30:44):
It's a long season ahead andthat's why college football was
fun and Notre Dame lost toNorthern Illinois last year and
made it all the way to thenational championship.
So we will see.
We will see.
For sure it's going to be a funseason.
I hope they can straightenthings out.
It's going to be fun.
If not, we'll just look on tonext year, look on to swimming
(31:04):
and diving, when that happens.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Swimming and diving,
table tennis, yeah, full
lacrosse, but I do want to sharethis.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
I do want to share
this.
I'm a couple days early, but mylittle girl, the boss, will be
two years old on Thursday.
She will be two on Thursday.
I don't know if I've even saidanything to you guys, but my
dad's 50th birthday was threeyears ago and we got together.
(31:36):
We got together and we took upmoney to send him to.
He's a big Dallas Cowboys fan,you know.
It's kind of like Notre Dame itkeeps getting worse with your
family, so anyway.
so we took up money and going tosend him out there.
Well, November the 1st, him andI fly out to see the Dallas
(31:57):
Cowboys play on a Monday night.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
That's really cool.
Speaker 7 (32:01):
We're going to get to
experience that.
I've never been to an NFLfootball game, so we're going to
get to experience that.
It was on my mind.
I didn't want to forget toshare that.
Who are they playing?
They're doing to share that.
Who are they playing?
They're doing the shows now.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Who are you going to
see?
Who are they playing?
Speaker 7 (32:17):
The Arizona Cardinals
.
We're flying out Saturdaymorning.
We are getting there.
It's like a three-hour flight,so we're going to have all day
Saturday and then all day Sundayand all day Monday.
We're going to have all daySaturday and then all day Sunday
and all day Monday.
We're going to try to catch anSMU game as well, depending on
what time they kick off, and mayeven try to do the Dallas
(32:39):
Mavericks game.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
You know they do a
tour of the Cowboys Stadium.
Yes, it's worth it.
Speaker 7 (32:45):
My mother-in-law
keeps telling me, keeps
mentioning the star, the star, the star.
You want to go see the star?
You know that's the DallasCowboys practice facility.
So I'm going to look into allthat.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
If you're an Eagles
fan like me, you go down there
and you spit on the star, butdon't do that because they'll
remove you from the tour, amongother things.
Probably, yeah, don't ask how Iknow.
Speaker 7 (33:11):
It's going to be fun.
I'm looking forward to it and Ican't wait.
You know just that's all he'stalking about.
I guess you know being raisedby him and him giving me things
and surprising me, and then mebeing able to see him light up
when this happens.
You know it just makes itworthwhile.
I guess, yeah, but I'm lookingforward to it.
(33:31):
You know it just makes itworthwhile.
I guess, yeah, but I'm lookingforward to it.
And just always remember, theBraves have more World Series
rings than the Phillies do inthe 2000s.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
In the 2000s.
Speaker 7 (33:40):
Okay, I will leave
you with that.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
All right.
Well, we'll see how long thatlasts, hopefully not for too
long.
All right.
Thanks for calling in, zach, and we are on are on next week
too, so we'll talk to you thenall right, that's good.
Speaker 7 (33:52):
Y'all have a good one
, you too, see ya all right,
that is really cool.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
It's always nice when
you can, whenever you give
somebody something yeah, thatthey really like to see them
light up my son's doing.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
He's a cow, he's a
martyr too.
Um, it's the joke we make as acowboys fan.
Um, yeah, because they Notsince the 90s.
They're just heartbreaking,yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
I feel so bad for
Cowboys fans, not since the
Deadpool and Batman.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
That's right.
I don't have a dog in the fight.
I don't follow football.
I used to, I don't anymore.
But I feel bad for him.
But he will not.
I love that he didn't care whenthe Braves stunk, it didn't
matter.
Yeah, he's still good at thegame, doesn't matter?
Cowboys think don't matter.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
That's his team.
He's a fan.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
As a Dodgers fan, I'm
like well you, I'm like.
So where were you from like 89to 2020, when they were not good
?
Like as a Dodgers fan, I waswith them the whole time.
There were some horrible teamsthat they spent a bunch of money
on.
Remember Andrew Jones retiredoff the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Yeah, they were just
pulling old guys in Just every
awful contract they could find.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
It was just bad.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Somehow.
Now they still spend a lot ofmoney but they still have a
great farm system.
I don't know how that works, but they seem to be able to.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
They draft well and
trade well.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Alright, so thanks
again to Zach.
Let's take a quick break hereand then, when we come back,
we'll talk about three things inthe news and more with Rob

Glad to be with you.
And Rob Young from SC Comic-Conis here tonight.
Michelle was supposed to behere and we were going to have
the rematch of the triviacontest from last year where she
beat you bad.
Beat you like a drum, rob.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
She really did.
By the way, she just texted methat is the game my son's going
to.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
Oh, the same one.
How about that?
He's going to the same game.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
How cool is that,
that is cool.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
And they should be
able to beat the Cardinals, I
would think I mean you know.
I hope yeah.
Speaker 5 (38:22):
It is the.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
Cowboys, they get rid
of their best player this year
before the year even started.
But that's the Cowboys.
That's the Cowboys.
All right, three things in thenews that I noticed.
One just happened today RobertRedford died.
I didn't know that yeah 89years old and, of course, one of
the greatest actors andproducers and directors of the
(38:47):
last couple of generationsreally, and even made his mark a
little bit in Marvel towardsthe end, which was something you
wouldn't expect from him.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Man, he was a great
bad guy in Winter Soldier.
Yes, yes, he was so good, andhe's probably in his 70s when he
did that?
Speaker 1 (39:05):
Yes, because, yeah,
he was 89 when he died and that
was what 10, 12 years ago, Idon't know he might have been
right at 80.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
10, 12 years ago, I
don't know he might have been
right at 80.
Yeah, how cool is that that?
He?
Speaker 1 (39:11):
could do that then.
Speaker 5 (39:11):
That is.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
That was good.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
He was good to the
end and, of course, known for
Sundance Festival, which hasgotten a lot of indie filmmakers
noticed and making the big time.
You see a lot of SundanceFestival movies in theaters
nowadays, so that's pretty cooland that was actually he named
that after when he played theSundance Kid.
Ah.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
Butch Cassidy and the
Sundance Kid yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
And he lives in Utah
somewhere and he named the town
Sundance.
It was like it used to besomething else.
He named it Sundance and ofcourse they have the Sundance
Festival there in Salt Lake Cityand the bigger places out there
, Like a lot of those people.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
he bought the town.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
He bought the town,
literally Changed his name and
everything but great career, wasactive in a lot.
One of the things about him wasthat he evolved as time went on,
because he was an old-timeactor and there's classics from
you know, way back when All thePresident's Men you know those
type movies and yet he just keptpushing the industry and with
(40:14):
the Sundance thing and all thatpushing the industry and being
involved all the way up to whenhe just couldn't do it anymore
so he didn't worry about.
You know, this is who I am.
I'm not going to adjust andchange.
He wasn't Dabo Sweeney.
He adjusted and his careercontinued all the way to the end
(40:35):
.
God got awards for everythinghe did, basically, and you could
have pages here that I couldread.
What about the natural?
Well, yes, of course, what anawesome movie there was one
movie he did.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
What was it called?
I was trying to go back and seeoff the top of my head.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
There was All Is Lost
was a movie he did back 2013
where he was the only characterin the film.
It was about somebody who gotlost at sea and there was hardly
any words.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
All is lost.
He won a Best Actor award.
All is lost.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
Yes, so I mean he did
it all, so that's good.
Speaker 5 (41:12):
It looks like his
first movie came out in 1960 and
his last movie was in 2018.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
Yeah, which I believe
was that last cameo.
In what Endgame was it?
Speaker 5 (41:25):
It says Buttons,
buttons, oh, buttons.
I know he's in Endgame thoughwith a little cameo.
Speaker 4 (41:32):
But great career.
He died today and God bless him, but the other person starring
in Buttons which will make yourbrain explode is Dick Van Dyke.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
Oh my gosh, and he's
100.
Holy cow, dick Van Dyke, oh mygosh, and he's 100.
Holy cow, dick Van Dyke is like100 years old.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Is he really?
Speaker 4 (41:46):
I went and looked at
the cash just out of curiosity I
was like is that?
Dick Van Dyke on the poster.
It is he is still going.
Speaker 5 (41:52):
Sure is.
Look at that.
How about that?
Speaker 4 (41:55):
How awesome is that?
That's crazy.
Sorry, but every time I look atDick Van Dy.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
Well, chimney,
chimney, chimney, yeah, yeah,
that whole thing.
Um, all right.
Next story meta of course youknow facebook, all that uh
coming out with their smartglasses and making uh an
announcement tomorrow.
A lot happening this week inthe in the entertainment world.
Uh, not only you get new comics, but uh, yeah, we can get these
(42:25):
smart glasses if you want.
Um, it's supposed to be wherethat you can have a display on
there and you can.
They have the watch now thatyou can, or wristband that you
can put on.
That will, literally, you canmake movements to make the
screen work in different ways, give it different commands and
stuff, so the screen work indifferent ways, give it
different commands and stuff.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
So the screen is
actually on your glasses.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
This is like the
Spider-Man glasses in.
What was it?
What was it?
Far From Home.
Is that what it was?
Speaker 4 (42:53):
I always think of
that Tom Cruise movie where the
guy's just moving the screen.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
Minority.
Speaker 4 (42:57):
Report yeah, where
he's just moving screens and
stuff's just flying around.
Speaker 1 (43:00):
Yeah, same thing,
Same thing.
Speaker 4 (43:02):
I mean this is he has
a thing on.
He's just moving all thesescreens trying to get
information.
Speaker 5 (43:06):
So the glasses is
going to work that way.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
Yeah, eventually, I
mean, it's just they're just
starting them out and workingout a little you know the bugs,
obviously, but they're going tointroduce them tomorrow or the
next day and they'll be able totell you all about that.
Speaker 4 (43:21):
So keep an eye out
for that.
Can you guys wait till you justget your injection with you?
Speaker 1 (43:27):
well, get this.
Speaker 4 (43:27):
We laugh, it's coming
, it's coming there will be a
day maybe not in our lifetime, but maybe I lean towards
probably yeah, let me see um.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
If I have more
information on that, let's see
if you want to go to work, you've got to have your, your
chip or whatever.
Oh, yeah, here's the gesturecontrol wristband.
It's an accessory to detectfinger and wrist gestures for
control of what's on the screenin your glasses that you're
wearing.
Speaker 5 (43:54):
So that your movement
of your eyes are going to
depend on?
Is that what you're saying?
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (44:00):
No, it sounds like
the wristband is probably like a
controller on a Wii, but I'msure you move the wristband and
they pick up on it.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Yeah, kind of like
Minority Report, like you were
saying but I'm sure that'scoming where your eyes will
control it.
Speaker 5 (44:13):
So how much are they?
I don't know.
Didn't say, let's see if I can.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
But estimated price
around $800.
Speaker 4 (44:21):
I was going to guess
a grand, so pretty close.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
So yeah, and you can
upgrade with a camera and some
AI features and stuff like that,I'm sure you can upgrade.
But again all the details aregoing to come out in the next
couple of days, so you'll beseeing much more about that.
And the other thing I had waseven we're talking about all
this crazy stuff.
(44:43):
It's like I told you.
It's like the movies.
Even we're talking about allthis crazy stuff.
It's like I told you, it's likethe movies.
They're coming out with thisthing now, this little silver
orb that if you look into andlet it scan your eyeballs, it
will give you some crypto tokensfor just proving that you're a
(45:05):
human, so that when you'reonline, this is like a human
type ID.
Let me read it so you get thisLet us own your biometrics,
that's exactly what the talkpoint is.
Speaker 5 (45:15):
For two crypto cores.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
that might be, it
ain't going to be a Bitcoin,
it's going to be like SHIB orone of these things.
Yes, it's a fraction of a penny.
Congratulations.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
But this is Sam
Altman who created, you know,
chatgpt and all that stuff.
Speaker 4 (45:30):
He's always been an
upstanding guy.
Speaker 1 (45:32):
Yeah, of course
there's no money involved here.
You get your iris scanned by anorb, a little silver orb, and
you get a world ID that provesyou're human and not a butt A
butt Not a butt A bot.
Speaker 4 (45:49):
Some people are still
bots.
Let's just say bot.
I don't think those aremutually exclusive necessarily,
but they can be.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
And it says you're
rewarded with cryptocurrency.
This just sounds like a joke,it just really sounds like a
joke.
Speaker 4 (46:02):
I mean, it's
definitely not run by the World
Economic Forum or anything, notthat, I'm that guy.
Seriously, I mean it'sdefinitely not run by the World
Economic Forum or anything Notthat I'm that guy Maybe the
Bilderbergs are involved.
How deep do you want me to godown the tinfoil hat ride?
Speaker 1 (46:11):
I can do it, and yet
they say they're helping you.
Speaker 5 (46:14):
Of course they are.
They're going to get your dataand they're going to own it.
Speaker 3 (46:18):
I mean they have it.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
Yes, but you get a
world ID as a real human being.
Speaker 4 (46:22):
Yeah, you have a
world idea.
Speaker 1 (46:23):
There's a lot of
people out there who are not
real human beings.
Speaker 4 (46:25):
NATO now knows you're
real.
Speaker 1 (46:29):
What is that going to
do for me?
You're?
Speaker 4 (46:30):
not a bot, that's
Colonel Klink would say no thank
you.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
It's rolling out in
cities like LA, San Francisco,
Atlanta, nearby.
Speaker 6 (46:40):
New.
Speaker 1 (46:40):
York and I love how
vague they are on what crypto
you get.
Yeah, it just sayscryptocurrency.
And why is this being released?
To fight?
Speaker 5 (46:58):
bots and AI fakes
online by creating a verified
human identity.
Speaker 4 (46:59):
Hey, guess what they
already know.
I hate to break this toeverybody, but as a guy who came
out of the tech world like 20years ago, when I worked at
Verizon and I was in techsupport and I would have people
tell me that they didn't have adata overage I could literally
log into the switch and go, oh,have you been file sharing?
(47:23):
And they would go of course not.
I was not file sharing on myphone.
And then I would say do youwant me to read the names of
some of these files?
Because I don't think you wantme to read the names of some of
these files.
They were very inappropriatenames and you would go oh, oh,
oh.
That's what I could do 20 yearsago.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (47:43):
Right, and that's
very simple technology we were
using then.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
Why would anybody do
this?
Speaker 4 (47:48):
Why would you do this
?
Folks aren't bright.
Some folks just aren't rightand they'll just do it to do it,
and I'm like I'll do it.
What's going to happen?
And I was telling folks manyyears before anybody thought it
was normal.
I said, hey, your phone'slistening to you.
Like it's Facebook and someother stuff they're listening to
?
No, it's not.
And to prove it to my wife, Iactually went.
(48:10):
The experiment we did was Isaid we haven't talked about
grills, and I set both of ourphones between us and we had a
five-minute discussion aboutgrills and I said don't talk
about it again.
And it wasn't 60 seconds and wewere both getting ads.
This was long before anybodywas saying this was a thing and
(48:31):
I went look, I've alreadyexperimented on this.
I was doing like you know, highheel shoes or anything, and
just talking about it.
Speaker 3 (48:39):
See if an ad would
show.
Speaker 4 (48:40):
Oh, it's listening
and it's actually in your
agreement for a FacebookMessenger that it listens to.
Speaker 5 (48:45):
Isn't that crazy?
Speaker 4 (48:46):
But everybody signs
off and you don't think Alexa's
doing the same thing?
Oh for sure.
There's no way I would allowAlexa in my house.
Speaker 5 (48:52):
Your TV.
Speaker 4 (48:53):
Samsung TVs have been
busted for doing the same thing
and you know they're listeningall the time it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (48:59):
Wow, just look out.
If someone comes to you andsays, do you want to be a part
of the World Project, that'swhat it's called.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
I'm going to say no,
heck, yeah, yeah the World.
Speaker 1 (49:08):
Project Formerly
World Coin.
So that's interesting.
Speaker 4 (49:14):
They changed it to
World Project.
Can we capture your biometricsto give you a SHIB?
Speaker 1 (49:17):
coin, yeah, and a
World ID.
It sounds like something thatkids would do.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
Ooh a World.
Speaker 1 (49:21):
ID.
I want a world ID.
I want a world ID.
I'll give you whatever you want.
Speaker 4 (49:24):
I was mad enough to
have to get the new driver's
license so I could fly.
Speaker 1 (49:28):
Oh yes, I get that
little gold star on there A
little star Yep, and now SouthCarolina says they're changing
them again.
Speaker 3 (49:33):
Are they?
Speaker 1 (49:35):
Yeah, they said
they're not changing the star
part, but it's like now they'recoming out with a different.
I just got that.
Speaker 4 (49:42):
I'm good for nine
years, or whatever it is.
We'll talk about that in nineyears.
Yeah, you're like me.
We'll talk about that in nineyears and you'll make me do it.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
Dang new license.
Maybe I'll just driveeverywhere.
Okay, so one more time beforewe go to the recommendations and
Rob always has good ones how toget tickets for the SC
Comic-Con Fall Edition.
Speaker 4 (50:07):
Well, you know,
there's several ways.
You can go to sccomicconcom, you can go to Borderlands at 410
South Blesenburg Drive, or youcan just walk up and buy tickets
at the show if you're making alast-minute decision and
there'll be a long line.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
And that's going to
be at the convention center.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
At the Greenville
Convention Center.
I think parking's going to beat the convention center, at the
Greenville Convention Center, Ithink parking's going to be $10
, and it'll be a lot easier topark than the big show,
obviously, because there won'tbe nearly as many people, so
it'll run real smooth.
And, yeah, come check it out, man.
I think there's going to be abunch of guests.
We've got a bunch of goodvendors.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (50:39):
Free comics, kids 12
and Will be there with Platypus,
with Platypus Don't know whathe's dressing up as this year.
Speaker 5 (50:46):
Yeah, the Beetlejuice
is out.
He was Beetlejuice last year, that's right, he was.
Speaker 1 (50:48):
Batman one year, a
couple of years ago.
You know what.
Speaker 4 (50:50):
I did forget.
We got a crazy thing going onwith the Swamp Rabbits.
So, they have a Star Wars night.
Yes, they do, if you go ontothe website you can buy a ticket
to the con and get a ticket toswamp rubbish star wars night.
If you go onto the site, youcan get that at the same time
very cool you can kind of bundleyeah, very cool, hockey is fun.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
It is very fun
hockey's, really fun.
Speaker 1 (51:14):
Hopefully they're
better this year.
Speaker 4 (51:15):
Live hockey, so good
last year as long as they let
them fight yes I know isn't thatterrible, but you want that yes
, I don't know.
I watch every ufc, so I guessit not I don't really have the
guilt factor.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
Yeah, no guilt factor
, but when they fight on skates,
that's even more frustrating.
Speaker 3 (51:30):
They're fighting on
skates.
Speaker 4 (51:30):
This is a high level
Only if they hit the side and
you hear the pom pom pom.
They're fighting on skates, youguys remember Clark, before
they were called Swamp Rabbits.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
My wife's 10 and he'd
go because he's six.
Six guys, oh yeah, and flattenthem very cool.
Yeah, the goons gotta send outthe goons, gotta love the goons.
Yeah, um, okay.
So recommendations, like we doevery week, um entertainment and
food.
Have you been reading anything, watching anything lately that
you can?
So?
Speaker 4 (52:01):
two, two things to
watch.
Um, we watched uh Wolf fromJack Carr, my favorite author I
think I mentioned him on herebefore and that's really good.
It's a prequel to Terminal List.
It tells you a little bit aboutone of the characters in
Terminal List that maybe madesome poor choices in life and I
(52:22):
think it's explaining how hewent down that road.
But it also introduces somecharacters that are very pivotal
, moving forward with the storyfor Commander Reese, the Navy
SEAL, the terminal.
This is about that's reallygood.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
That's the Chris
Pratt character Yep.
Speaker 4 (52:37):
And also, if you like
smart alecks, then you should
watch Landman.
Speaker 1 (52:43):
Oh, yes, it is very
good.
Speaker 4 (52:46):
It may be the best
thing Billy Bob Thornton's ever
done.
Speaker 5 (52:47):
I agree.
He is just incredible.
It's incredible.
Speaker 4 (52:50):
Every time he's on
screen.
It's must-watch TV.
Speaker 5 (52:52):
It is, you can't help
it.
Speaker 4 (52:53):
He's just
unbelievable in that show.
Speaker 5 (52:56):
It was a fantastic
show.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
I agree, I didn't
know what I was going to think
of that.
Speaker 3 (53:01):
Me too.
Speaker 1 (53:01):
My wife had to talk
me into it.
Speaker 4 (53:03):
Yeah, and I regret
that.
Like you were right, honey, itwas phenomenal, it was so good
In fact, I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (53:09):
There's got to have
another season.
Oh, there is, it's coming outthis year.
It's coming out in, like what?
November or something.
Yeah.
It's coming out pretty soon.
Speaker 1 (53:21):
Good yeah.
So yeah, I bet you he's got tobe 60s.
Yeah, and he's looked in his60s for 30 years.
He's like old Arne Anderson.
Speaker 4 (53:29):
Like Arne Anderson
was 19.
I saw a great picture of ArneAnderson with a world title and
he was supposed to be at thetime like 29.
And he looked 40.
And the caption on it was ArneAnderson winning the sixth grade
wrestling championship at suchand such high school.
And he had a beard Because Arnelooked old like the day he was
(53:50):
born.
Speaker 7 (53:51):
He looked 25.
Speaker 4 (53:53):
Yeah, Arne looked old
from the day he was born.
Speaker 5 (53:56):
So he's 70.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
70.
Wow.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
So, yeah and he
hasn't changed.
He just turned 70.
Speaker 1 (54:00):
I mean the guy hasn't
changed and he's a great actor.
It is incredible.
But hasn't changed and he's agreat actor it is incredible,
but he's looked the same forabout 20 years yes, he has.
Speaker 4 (54:07):
So at 50 he looked
horrible, but at 70 he looks
good he's managed to maintain.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
Yeah, it's crazy,
that's what we'll go with.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
It's crazy, I mean he
looks the same as he does when
he was with.
Speaker 1 (54:16):
Angelina Jolie.
Oh yeah, they got the littledream patch a lot and the Soul
Patch.
The Soul Patch, that's what itis he's rocking the Soul Patch
Crazy he was just in the areawith his band.
Speaker 4 (54:29):
Oh really, Was it
Newberry or Pickens?
Speaker 1 (54:31):
I think they played
in Pickens.
Really, yeah, he has a band.
It's not like he's the wholeband.
I mean he's just part of a band, and they sold it out, of
course, because people wanted tomeet him.
Speaker 4 (54:41):
It ain't about the
money.
Speaker 1 (54:42):
No, he's playing
pickings, he just wants to play
some music Absolutely, and hehas fun playing for people, so
why not?
Speaker 4 (54:49):
Why not Go play music
and have fun?
Speaker 1 (54:51):
Absolutely Exactly so
.
Good for him.
That's awesome.
But Jack Carr?
I think he's coming out with anew book too.
Speaker 4 (54:57):
Yeah, it's the one
about Reese's dad.
Speaker 3 (55:03):
I'm brain farting,
maybe it's.
Speaker 4 (55:04):
Cry Havoc.
Speaker 1 (55:06):
Yes, that's it.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
I think it's Cry
Havoc.
It comes out two weeks afterthe con, Very excited.
I've already ordered my shotthrough editions.
He's one of the authors.
It's the coolest thing ever.
He picks a gun from the book,he shoots through pages with the
gun, signs them and then theybind them into books and they
(55:27):
are only sold at independentbookstores.
Speaker 5 (55:31):
Wow, Now how cool is
that.
Speaker 4 (55:33):
You can't buy it at
Barnes Noble.
You can't buy it on Amazon.
He does sell signed editionsthrough those but he wanted to
come up with a way.
His mom was a high schoollibrarian and his two things he
wanted to do in life was hewanted to be a seal and he
wanted to write books.
Because she got him intoreading at a young age, he's
actually got a book club kudosto him for independent
booksellers so how can you get ahold of one of those what's?
(55:56):
go to jack carr's website and,uh, they've got links there.
That's what I did.
I went in and ordered mine.
Um, and you can pick abookstore that has them in stock
and you can order them, andthen they'll ship them.
They'll ship them on releaseday.
Speaker 1 (56:08):
That's really cool.
That is really cool.
Speaker 4 (56:10):
What a neat thing to
do and he doesn't have to do it.
He's going to sell those booksanyway.
So he's doing that because heloves it and he loves
independent bookstores.
Speaker 5 (56:18):
He's very cool.
Speaker 4 (56:18):
Yeah, I would love to
meet him one day.
He's apparently a really cooldude.
Speaker 1 (56:21):
That awesome.
That's awesome, um, okay, sowhat about a food recommendation
?
Speaker 5 (56:28):
well, the kitchen's
not ready no, because it's not
ready.
Speaker 4 (56:31):
So you gotta eat out
I'm telling you my wife probably
would cook for everybody um oh,that'd be awesome yeah she's
incredible.
Um, I tell you there's a couplegood places.
I might have mentioned milespizzeria, which is my favorite
place did you try it now?
Speaker 3 (56:43):
oh, I've had it.
I had it last before yourecommended it.
Speaker 1 (56:46):
I still haven't had
it.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
It's the cheese bread
, because I don't get up that
way very often.
Speaker 5 (56:50):
I'm not going to lie
to you, it is the cheese bread.
Speaker 4 (56:53):
It's kind of crazy.
Speaker 5 (56:54):
The pizza's awesome,
but that cheese bread.
Speaker 4 (56:56):
They take a whole
loaf of bread, uncut loaf of
bread.
Speaker 5 (57:00):
Oh my gosh and garlic
an ungodly amount of cheese and
garlic, yeah it looks like so.
Speaker 4 (57:05):
By the time they put
all this on there and they put
it in the pizza oven, it comesout looking like a lava monster
john, you've got to see it youjust won't.
It's crazy and it's so good andthe people there are so nice and
it's uh also independentlyowned.
Um, if people are looking for auh, for a sports bar, they can
try uh, because we're alwaystalking sports in here.
(57:25):
You've got Local Q and I alsorecommend the Flat.
If they're up toward WoodruffRoad or Five Points, they can go
to the Flat.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
Been to Local Q.
Had some of the wings there, were they not?
Speaker 3 (57:35):
They were delicious,
Went there too.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
They're good, did you
see the cheese bread?
Let me see.
Oh sorry, oh my.
Speaker 5 (57:49):
Yes just, oh, my yes
just oozing, it's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (57:50):
You're just eating
and about a little bit of bread.
We you know I live out indacusville, but we did the
dacusville pizza stop and it'sreally good very cool.
Speaker 5 (57:54):
What?
Speaker 1 (57:54):
you've been there too
no, I was gonna say she started
to suck wait wait
Speaker 3 (57:58):
no, because I
remember um one of our teachers
is from dacusville.
Speaker 5 (58:04):
Allison.
Speaker 3 (58:05):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (58:05):
And so she mentioned
it.
Speaker 4 (58:07):
It's good.
Speaker 5 (58:09):
A little hole in the
wall.
Speaker 4 (58:10):
It is.
It is the tiniest little holein the wall and my buddy that
lives out there kept picking onme and he was like you're going
to rag on it?
It's this and it's that it'snext to a gas station or
whatever.
And man, the food is good, theservice is great, the kids are
everyone that works there sweet.
One time they forgot my wife'sonline order.
They missed it and the ownerwalked out, brought her a cup of
(58:33):
coffee because they have alittle coffee thing brought her
a dessert and said we're sosorry, we're fixing it right now
.
It'll be out and she's likeit's fine.
It's going to take you likeeight minutes, yeah, but they're
that sweet and they're reallynice people and I highly
recommend anybody out in thearea give it a shot.
Speaker 5 (58:50):
So what do you get at
Miles Pizza?
Speaker 4 (58:53):
So usually I'm going
for lunch so I'll get the lunch
special where it's liketwo-topping personal pizza and
that two-topping personal pizzawill fill you up.
When I do it for the store Ican feed if you get there large
it the pizza is, so thick it istwo pieces and you're in a coma.
Speaker 5 (59:10):
I can only eat one,
but I eat the cheese bread too.
Speaker 2 (59:11):
I've had one person
eat three oh wow, and we gave
him two monsters for free so hecould keep working, because I
was pretty sure he was going todoze off like he just kept
chugging.
Yeah, he was like I'm carb coma.
Speaker 4 (59:24):
I'm gonna go to sleep
, boss.
Um, but like a large pizza willfeed like five, six people.
It's crazy, cause it's just so,so good so they get that.
Yeah, it's great pizza.
Speaker 3 (59:33):
And what do you get
at local Q, the wings?
Speaker 4 (59:40):
wings.
That I do.
I let my wife always orderfirst, because that's what
you're supposed to do, and if mywife does not order tots, then
I get the wings and the tots, because my wife really likes
tots and she can cheat, eat afew tots and food off my plate
does not count.
We know these rules.
And so if she does order tots, then I order fries most of the
time, or mac and cheese.
(01:00:01):
Their mac and cheese is prettyincredible too, you can get a
skillet an iron skillet of macand cheese at Local Q.
You're killing me.
I'm going to be eatingsomething from somewhere I know.
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
That's what happens
at the end of the show.
Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
You can get an iron
skillet full of mac and cheese
but then you can get like baconor brisket or an egg on whatever
you want, and they'll customizethe mac and cheese and then put
it in the iron skillet and putit in the broiler.
Oh man.
Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:00:29):
We've got to stop
doing this.
I know it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
It's better than at
