SPEAKER_07 (00:00):
Hey everybody, welcome to the Boone Show on
MyPulse Radio.
Glad to be with you.
I'm John Boone.
Uh, the boss lady is here.
And uh Danica's running arounddoing producer type things,
which usually means just gettinguh getting snacks out of the
vending machine.
And that's important.
Our guest tonight, we felt weowed him one.

(00:22):
Absolutely no one requested thisguest.
No, I'm just kidding.
Just kidding.
Uh but we have our sports guy,Zach.
I figured, you know, a lot ofpeople don't know who he is.
He's just kind of there everyweek.
And now the last couple of weekswith the phone issues and
everything, he hasn't beenaround.
Absolutely.

(00:43):
It's been good because he wouldhave been in a bad mood most of
the time with the way his teamshave been playing.
But uh it's good to have him instudio so everybody gets to find
out more about Mr.
Zach Howard today.

SPEAKER_04 (00:53):
So now now has has Zach has he been doing it since
the very beginning?
Because like this is season sixfor us.
I'm trying to think.
Did he do the first season?

SPEAKER_10 (01:04):
I cannot actually remember.
I think me and you had tried toum start a remember it was uh I
was calling in at 5 40.

SPEAKER_07 (01:12):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_10 (01:13):
And uh I think what happened what had happened was
is uh I believe that you starteda show, you you started the
show, and then you got to whereyou wanted you had asked me,
well we was gonna do a podcast, that's what it was.

(01:34):
And then you decided just to dothe boon show and then just have
me call in every week, and Ihave thoroughly enjoyed it.
Right.
So I I think I have been doingit for ever.

SPEAKER_06 (01:45):
Even if he didn't do the first season, I'm I'm pretty
sure it was.

SPEAKER_10 (01:49):
Yeah, and then I had to start putting it in my
calendar because I would forget, and he would text me, hey, you
calling in, you calling in?

SPEAKER_06 (01:55):
And well, and we did it more regularly the first
season and the second season.

SPEAKER_07 (01:59):
Until we got totally burnt out by doing it every
week.
But now we still have abouttwenty, twenty-two episodes of
school year, so we'll do prettygood with it.

SPEAKER_10 (02:08):
Yeah, my dad gave me a hard time and he said, So you
left work early to go talk onthe radio.
I said, Yeah.
I said, just like I used myvacation time to go all the way
to Dallas to watch the Cowboyslose.

SPEAKER_07 (02:21):
Well, I could have told you that was gonna happen,
but uh but we'll we will talkabout that trip.
Um but everybody, this is thisis Zach Howard, the one and only
Zach Howard, the greatstoryteller, the great extremely
biased sports reporter that wehave here.

SPEAKER_05 (02:37):
Girl dad.

SPEAKER_07 (02:38):
That only acknowledges a couple of teams
in the entire sports world.
But uh and we're gonna have himtalk about some of that.
So, Zach, if you would, uh forthose that might be tuning in
for the very first time insomewhat you know under an hour,
if you could give us some of thesome of the background.

(02:59):
Obviously, you came through ourprogram here, so take it from
there and uh and what you're upto these days.

SPEAKER_10 (03:05):
Well, I uh I am a graduate of this program, and uh
I uh I'm a uh alumni of Ren HighSchool, class of 2013.
I married my high schoolsweetheart, she also took this
class, um, Tiffany.
I've got uh two girls.
Uh I've got a five-year-old, andshe'll be six in February, and a

(03:29):
two-year-old that bosseseverybody around.
Of course.
And uh Carson is myfive-year-old, Emery is my
two-year-old, or ourtwo-year-old, and um kind of a
funny thing when me and Tiffanyfirst got married and started
talking about having kids andeverything.
I said, all I want is for ourfirst youngin' to have the

(03:53):
initials.
CJ.
And I may get reprimanded forthis.
Yep.
And that's that's okay.
Yeah, chip reports.

SPEAKER_07 (04:00):
Or is it CJ Spiller?

SPEAKER_10 (04:02):
Oh, I'll get to that in a minute.
So I so I I said uh I said,that's all I want.
And uh, of course, I wanted aboy, but let me tell you
something.
I would not trade Carson oreither one of my girls, but
especially Carson, for anything, because the girl does anything I
want to do.
I mean, she she does.

(04:23):
If I go take the trash out, sheshe wants to come now.
Emery does.
But uh, but so I'll get back tothat in a minute, but that's
that's what I told Tiffany.
I said, I want the initial CJ.
Why do you want CJ?
And I said, CJ Spiller, thegreatest running back in Clemson

(04:43):
history.
And I get reprimanded for that, and that's okay.
But CJ Spiller, so she's CJ tome, Carson, Carson Jordan,
whatever, but she is my littleCJ, and that's what that's what
you know I I call her and sheanswers to it.
So uh in Emory, the name we comeup with Emory was um you hear

(05:07):
Emerson, but we have a preacherfriend of ours in North
Carolina, last name is Emory, and uh we were sitting on their
couch, um, and there was theirlast name was above their
kitchen, spelled E-M-O-R-Y.
And Tiffany said, What aboutthat name for one of our kids?

(05:29):
And I said, uh she said, 'Causeyou think the world of them,
whatever.
So that's how we got the nameEmery.
And it's really not commonnowadays, and and uh so she
wanted the name Rayland.
Well then when she started, shewanted that after uh both of her
parents' middle names, thenshe's like, and now everybody's

(05:50):
using it.
Now that's a common name.
So now that's why we went withEmery because it's really not
common.
You hear Emerson a lot, but notreally Emory.

SPEAKER_07 (06:00):
And what's her middle name?

SPEAKER_10 (06:02):
Uh Grace.
Oh, nice.
And Tiffany was actuallylistening listening to a song
about Grace, and that's how shecame up with Grace.
She said, I got Emory's middlename.
I said, Okay.
She sent me the song, and that'show that happened.

SPEAKER_07 (06:15):
So that is very cool.
So what are you where are youworking now?

SPEAKER_10 (06:20):
I am working at the building center uh in Easley.
It's formerly known as DixieLumber.
That's right, I know where thatis.
Um some people around theseareas may remember Dixie Lumber.
It's been around for a while,um, but I cannot ask for a
better place to work.
Um I I'm a delivery driver, Ideliver doors, windows, trim,
uh, small lumber packs.

(06:41):
I'm actually getting ready to goafter my CDL's, my commercial
driver's license.
And uh we're now we've got jobsgoing on in Atlanta, big
commercial jobs.
We've got uh one starting up inTennessee, we've got uh two or
three in Atlanta.
Um matter of fact, I got to goto Brazil Ton in the morning.
They're doing townhomes outthere.
Uh so uh best job I've ever had.

(07:03):
Couldn't ask for a better placeto work.
I'll be there six years in July.
So it was funny.
Carson was born February of2020, you know, and then the
whole world shuts down becauseof COVID.
And so whatever year she turnswill be you minus one of that,
how long I've been, how longI've been at the building

(07:23):
center.
Well, what whatever year sheturns is how long I've been
there.
So she'll be six in February,I'll be there six years in July.
So it's kind of it's kind ofcool to look at that.
And even everybody says that, wow, she's e she's gotten that
big.
I said, Yeah, yeah, it's it'sit's amazing.
We we joke around, we're justone big family there.
Give each other a hard time.
And I tell you, my nicknamethere is Big Death.

(07:46):
And I'll tell you why.
Uh I had never heard, I hadnever used a diesel engine in my
life.
Never.
I've always been raised onregular gas, everything.
So uh make a long story short, Ium I was headed to fill up our

(08:06):
little 16-foot flatbed we havewith uh fuel.
And nobody, our our smaller boxtruck, we've got a bigger one
now, but our smaller box truck, the gas tanks that had two of
them, were on each side of thetruck.
Well, when I go to fill theflatbed up, nobody had showed me
anything about as far as wherethe tank was, anything.

(08:28):
There was this big blue tank onthe side of the flatbed, had a
blue lid on it.
Well, I take it off and I putthe nozzle in there, and the
nozzle's not fitting.
I can't I'm filling it up,filling it up, running out.
I close it back, I check, man,the gauge did not move, the hand
did not move.
I go down to the hot spot inPickens, same thing, and uh had

(08:50):
a guy show up, man, that don'tlook good.
I said, I know it don't.
So I called a coworker and amatter of fact, my old boss man,
David, and I said, Man, I can'tget this nozzle to fit in this
in this tank, and it'soverflowing everywhere.
And all he said was, What tankare you putting it in?
I said, The one with the bluelid.

(09:11):
No, no, no, no, no, bring thatback, bring that back, bring it
back.
That's the wrong one.
So$650 later, they get the truckback.
So they call me Big Deaf fromnow on.
And I walk in the next daywondering, why am I Big Deaf?
Because Sky Zone called me BigCountry.
So they called me Big Deaf, andI'm wondering around, what is

(09:33):
Big Deaf?
I can't hear.
What is that?
So when they would put my nameon paperwork, it'd be D E F.
I walk into the tool room andsee Death Fluid sitting there.
So from now on, I know where.
And they put stickers all on thetrucks, death fluid only, diesel
fuel only.
So from now on, I know where.
And they even to this day, andthat happened, man.
I was there.

(09:54):
I I started in July.
This was August of 2020.
And she and uh to this day,Steve, one of the Fort Lift
drivers, he'll drive around.
You putting that in the righttank?
And so yeah, I'm big deaf now.

SPEAKER_07 (10:09):
All right, I like that.
That's a that's a good wrestlingname.
Yeah, yeah.
If you ever want to do that, allright.
We're gonna take a quick timeout, and when we come back,
we're gonna find out where Zachstarted his sports allegiances
and how he grew up into these.
I mean, he's a fan of all fansof these teams.
I want to know how it allstarted.

(10:30):
So we'll get that when we comeback.
You're listening to the BoonShow on My Pulse Radio.

SPEAKER_07 (13:00):
But normally Danica would be on.
All right, welcome back to theMoon Show on MyPulse Radio.
Our guest tonight, our legendarysports guy getting his own show
tonight, Mr.
Zach Howard, already with agreat story.
First segment in.
Absolutely.
So let's see what he's got forsegment number two.

SPEAKER_10 (13:18):
Well, before we get started, my wife said I ramble
too much.
I am so sorry that I ramble toomuch.

SPEAKER_07 (13:27):
But she loves me anyway.
I just heard your text go offthere.
You must have got another one.
But anyway, I wanted to talkabout, you know, sports.
The reason why you're on here,we would always, you know,
playfully, I suppose, uh, goback and forth about our sports
teams.
And um you've been really loyalto yours through the ups and
downs, which I appreciatebecause I have too.

(13:48):
And you see a lot of bandwagonfans nowadays that hop on teams
when they're when they're good, and then when they start going
downhill, they find a new team.
Uh so how did your Braves andClemson and all that, the the
fan age start for you?
Is that were you really young,or was that something you picked
up a little later?

SPEAKER_10 (14:06):
I was just raised as being a Clemson fan.
And I tell you, the reason why Ibecome a Braves fan would
probably be when uh we attendeda Clemson baseball game, or
maybe when I was playing adultsoftball.
Uh, they were on TV.

(14:27):
I want to say maybe when I wasyounger, still living at home,
and it may have been it waseither the Phillies or the
Nationals they were playing.
And they went into like 18innings.
That's before the whole runneron second thing.
And I left for church to goback, it was on a Sunday, left
for church that to go back thatto the evening service, and come

(14:49):
back home, they were stillplaying.
And I sat down and I watched,I'm like, man, this is cool.
And then uh I quit for a littlebit, and then when I started
going to the Greenville Drivegames, I had a buddy I was
working with at the time, and wedouble dated with them a couple
of times to a Greenville Drivegame.
He got into baseball, startedwatching the Braves, that helped

(15:13):
me get into it.
We just started keeping up withit, and then when Ronald Acuna
came in and done everything, uh,you know, come in and really
started picking his pace up,getting as good as he is, I
really started following him.
Now I'm not able to sit down andwatch every game, you know,
three and four hours, 162 games, but I'll I'll keep up.

(15:38):
I've got an app, I keep up withit, all that kind of thing.

SPEAKER_07 (15:41):
So um and and I just have to throw this in.
Of course, the one year you wonthe World Series, Akuna was
hurt.

SPEAKER_10 (15:50):
I know.
Isn't that something?
Isn't that weird?

SPEAKER_07 (15:52):
He's like the best player in the league.
And yet the one year they won itall, he wasn't even playing.

SPEAKER_10 (15:58):
And we actually went to a game that year, and we
went, they played the Phillies.
I'd always want to go see themplay the Phillies.
They got beat 10 to 1, 10 to 2.
Looked at my dad, I said, I'mnever gonna watch him play the
Phillies again, and I'll bedoggone they ended up winning it
all.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_07 (16:15):
So I was actually at a game that year, believe it or
not, with my son, the Bravesfan, and we were there the night
they clinched going to the WorldSeries, the NLCS game against
the Dodgers.

SPEAKER_10 (16:27):
That would have been that would be incredible.
That is on my bucket list toattend a World Series, national
championship type game of eitherbasketball, football, and and or
a Super Bowl, just to fill theatmosphere.

SPEAKER_07 (16:40):
Now we'll get your latest on um how the uh the
Clemson team during the actualsports report, which comes your
way at the bottom of the hour,if you've been listening.
Now, um tell me though aboutyour trip to Dallas.
Uh I saw tons of pictures.

SPEAKER_06 (16:56):
Because this was a trip of a lifetime for you and
your dad.

SPEAKER_10 (16:59):
Yes, I will.
I'll tell you where it actuallycome from.
Um you know, when we're growingup, and my dad's listening, uh,
shout out to my dad, but uh whenwe're growing up, our parents
try to give us the best.
And my dad, my dad always gaveus the best.
And he he would work two andthree jobs at a time, but he

(17:24):
never missed a little leaguegame, never missed me and my
sister was in marching band.
Shout out to Caitlin.
Uh we were in marching band, henever missed a competition,
never missed a ball.

SPEAKER_07 (17:36):
Those are tough to sit through, too.
Those are long days.

SPEAKER_10 (17:39):
Yeah, yeah, even for the even for the competitors,
but never missed anything.
So it came to his 50th birthdayparty, and my mom wanted to plan
a surprise birthday party, and Igot with my mom and my and my
sisters, and you know, Tiffanywas involved, and and I said,

(18:02):
uh, he c all he kept saying was,I want to attend a Dallas
Cowboys game.
I want to attend a DallasCowboys game.
I said, Dad, why don't we gowatch him play Carolina or
Atlanta?
No, I want to go there.
So um we got everything bought,we got uh the food paid for and
everything, and I said, whydon't we send out invitations

(18:26):
and have them mailed out and putin there?
Please send money for a DallasCowboys trip to see the Cowboys
play.
That's what he wants to do.
Now that happened in it is 2025.
My dad is fifty.
That happened three years ago.
It took three years for him toplan all this because we was
trying to get somebody to go,and uh we were trying Carson was

(18:50):
still young.

SPEAKER_06 (18:50):
So he got the money when he was fifty to do this,
but it took him three years, heplanned that.

SPEAKER_10 (18:56):
So what we was trying to do, what we were
trying to do, we were trying togo on Thanksgiving because they
played Thanksgiving Day,wouldn't have to take no time
off work.
You could have left Wednesdayafter work, game Thursday, hung
out, done whatever Friday, flyback Saturday.
But the plane tickets onThanksgiving motels to now was

(19:17):
ridiculous.
So that never worked out.
He was trying to work it outwhere I could go.
Carson was still young, and so Ijust so he when it came time
again, he was planning.
My mom kept saying, Your dad'strying to go to Dallas, your
dad's trying to go to Dallas.
I just told him, I said, Dad,I'll go with you.
So I'm sitting in the livingroom, Tiffany had done went to
bed, and he uh he called me onenight and said, Well, I've got

(19:40):
Dallas, but if you want to go.
And so uh we went, and uh let metell you, when when you're s
when you are a young kid or 31years old, and seeing your dad
like a kid on Christmas, something he's always wanted to
do, it it it was amazing.

(20:00):
That stadium is like somethingI've never seen before.
It is absolutely gorgeous.
And my boss man's actually beenthere uh for the cotton bowl.
And I mean, he was like a kid onChristmas.
I've never seen him smile thatbig.

SPEAKER_06 (20:15):
That's awesome.

SPEAKER_10 (20:16):
And it it was it was it was it it was awesome.

SPEAKER_06 (20:20):
It's a beautiful stadium.

SPEAKER_10 (20:21):
And see, I'm uh I'm a Was it opened or closed?
It was closed.
It was closed.
And and and I love going to, andyou can ask Tiffany and she's
listening.
I know I'm rambling, but howmuch time we got?
Bless your heart.
So so uh so I sent my poordaddy, I sent him all over the
place to see football stadiums.
But TCU is beautiful.
We went to TCU, went to SMU,went all the way to Waco to see

(20:44):
Baylor.

SPEAKER_03 (20:45):
Yep.

SPEAKER_10 (20:45):
Um we actually toured the um Texas Rangers uh
Hall of Fame building.
And uh so I told my dad, I said, see, this is why we come all the
way out to Waco to tour this, not to see Baylor.
So bless his heart, I took himall over the place.
High school football out thereis for real.
He said next time, hopefullywe're trying we're we're hoping

(21:06):
to go back in about five to sixyears, hopefully.
Um it may take a couple morepeople with us.
We're wanting to maybe catch aThursday night game, a Cowboys
game, and then Friday highschool, Saturday maybe a college
game, and even and I mean theTexas Rangers Stadium's right
there at it, and it isabsolutely massive.

(21:26):
But yeah, it it was it's adifferent world out there.

SPEAKER_06 (21:30):
Did you get to do the the stadium tour?

SPEAKER_10 (21:33):
We did not.
We were going to, but that'sthat's like I said, that's what
I told him.
I said, next time we'll knowwhat to experience because we
did not want to do that becauseparking there is outrageous.
It is right across the streetwas a hundred dollars.
Oh my gosh.
You go down, you go a little bitfurther, it's a hundred and
forty.
There was a we never saw it, butthere was another, there was a

(21:55):
woman told us that there wassome parking for$300.
So that's why we didn't know howparking was gonna be.
So my dad, my dad, bless hisheart, he hates paying to park.
He hates paying to park.
We went to the Wake Forest gameuh last year, and I and he kept
driving, driving, driving.
I said, Dad, it's 2024.
You're gonna have to pay.

(22:15):
Oh no, that found free parkinglast time.
You know what we had to do, wehad to pay.
And I just told him, I said, that's just where we're at now.
And we ended up paying, I think,45 to park.
Had to walk a little ways, butyou as big as that stadium is,
you can still see it.

SPEAKER_03 (22:29):
Right.

SPEAKER_10 (22:29):
But yeah, it was it's a different world out
there.
Five-lane highways.
Um one thing that they do up,they take care of their roads,
their DOT does.
Like one of the uh off ramps, they have a U-turn lane and the
far left lane.
So like our motel was over onthe left side, and whenever we

(22:51):
would come back, all we had todo was U-turn right off instead
of getting off the interstate, turning left, red light, didn't
get back, you just U-turn rightback on the interstate.
So that it's a different worldout there.
Everything's flat, everything isuh Did you ever hear about uh
David Koresh?
Yep, we wouldn't seen all thatin highlighting.
We wouldn't see that.

(23:11):
And if it hadn't been for usgoing to Waco, we wouldn't have
gone.
So he needs to be thankful wewent and seen we went to Waco
that his son wanted to go toWaco.
So uh we got to see DavidKoresh.
Drove all the way out to Way tosee I was like, French Davidian.

SPEAKER_06 (23:24):
It was French Davidian.

SPEAKER_10 (23:25):
Yes, that's correct.
Yes, what it was.
But but yeah, I had never heardof it until my dad had said that
my mom said something about ittoo, but there's a bunch of
people that know about it.

SPEAKER_07 (23:34):
Oh yeah, it was a big thing.

SPEAKER_10 (23:35):
I had never heard of it.
It was a very big thing.
I had never heard of it.
93, I think, is what I happened.
It's been a long time.

SPEAKER_07 (23:41):
Yeah.
Holy cow, it's been that long.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_10 (23:43):
30 some years ago.

SPEAKER_06 (23:44):
I just graduated high school.
I remember it all.

SPEAKER_10 (23:46):
30 some years ago.
Five lane highways, 70 miles, 70miles an hour.
And uh our travel agent told usshe said, You need whenever you
go, you need to do avoid tolls.
She wasn't lying, their tollsout there is like eight to ten
dollars.
And so what happens when youavoid tolls, if you're 45
minutes away from something, youmay be an hour to traffic out

(24:08):
there is ridiculous though.
It's my my dad, he uh he gotnervous driving because I said,
Dad, just just because we werein a rental, and and I'll get to
that in a minute.
That's another that's a coolstory how that happened.
Um But the way the bridges arespaghetti junction in Atlanta,
it's like that everywhere inTexas.

SPEAKER_03 (24:28):
Yep.

SPEAKER_10 (24:29):
So uh, but the rental car, and and I know,
babe, I'm rambling, I'm sorry, but um the rental car, when he
rented a Nissan Versa, I thinkit was.
And he's tall like a tiny car.
Yeah, I think it was a NissanVersa.

SPEAKER_06 (24:44):
That's a tiny guy.

SPEAKER_10 (24:45):
I I think that's what it was.
I know it was a car.
So we get dropped off at theairport, they take us to the
rental car place, and the playthe company we were under was
called Alamo.
So we walk in and we find Alamo, and the woman says, Can you go
out and talk to National?
And we're having technicaldifficulties.

(25:07):
So we walk out and uh talk tothem, we're waiting in line.
This guy comes over, I guesshe's management, and uh we're
walking by, and my dad's likeme, quiet, don't talk much, you
know, doesn't talk much.
No, my me and my dad's got aboutthe same personality.
So I'm walking up with the guy,and my dad's like, Man, I would

(25:28):
love to have that Ford F-150right there.
White, it was a white FordF-150.
And that guy said, Man, it'd benice, wouldn't it?
My dad said, Yeah, but I ain'tgot the money to upgrade to it.
A guy stopped, turned around andlooked, and he said, Go get in
that truck.
My dad's like, Man, I was justkidding, go get in that truck.
I'm calling him right now, telling them you're on the way.

(25:48):
So instead of a Nissan Versa,we're in a 2025 Ford F-150.
Oh, that's stretch your legs outa little bit.
The thing was nice.
Yeah.
Oh, it was nice.

SPEAKER_07 (25:59):
And you went downtown Dallas too, right?
You know, yes, to uh whereKennedy got shot.

SPEAKER_10 (26:04):
That was that that was neat.
They've actually got um thewindow.
Yep.
Did you go up in there?
We did not.
Um they've got it marked wherehe was standing and it it was it
was neat.

SPEAKER_06 (26:18):
Saw it on the on the road that you realize how big
the road is that he's that hegot shot on.

SPEAKER_07 (26:24):
Yeah, and you can see why there's a lot of
conspiracy theories.

SPEAKER_10 (26:27):
Yes, yeah, and they've actually got the I
didn't know this, they'veactually got a white X marked
where he was sitting.

SPEAKER_06 (26:33):
So yeah, it was it was it was there's usually
people in that little park toothat'll talk to you about it.

SPEAKER_10 (26:39):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It was it was great.
It was funny.
Speaking of that, there was thisguy standing there was
explaining to my dad whathappened.
My dad was like, Oh, that'scool.
And he goes, Ten dollars, youcan take it home with you.
No, sir.
I'm good.
You told me everything I need tohear.
My dad walked off.

SPEAKER_07 (26:56):
Um, so you really packed a lot into that.
How many days were you there?
Three days?

SPEAKER_10 (27:01):
We flew in Saturday afternoon because it's out their
hour behind us, and then we flewback Tuesday um evening.

SPEAKER_07 (27:09):
So wow, that's quite a trip.
Yes, so good places to eataround there too.
Did you get some good uh steakaround?

SPEAKER_10 (27:15):
Barbie and barbecue.
We got some barbecue.
Um wasn't too crazy about theparticular restaurant we went
to.
Now their brisket was amazing.
Um my dad's like me, he lovesbaked beans, but they really had
kind of a weird taste to them.
I like a little bit of barbecuetype baked beans, but these
really what it was justdifferent.

(27:37):
And uh so uh I don't think weate anywhere that was a chain
besides In N Out Burger.
And Tiffany hated me for goingto In N Out Burger because
TikToks all the time.
I want to try this, I want totry this.
So I sent her a picture.
You know me.
So we went the first night wewere there, but personally I
like Whataburger better.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_07 (27:56):
I you've been to In N Out Burger.
I mean, what's I don'tunderstand what they're doing?

SPEAKER_10 (27:59):
Yeah, they are cheap.

SPEAKER_07 (28:00):
There's that sauce.

SPEAKER_10 (28:02):
Yeah, yeah, they're they're cheap.

SPEAKER_06 (28:03):
Yeah, I've just impressed but I've got a big
fast food person either.

SPEAKER_10 (28:07):
So and of course, we went to Bucky's out there.

SPEAKER_06 (28:10):
Oh, you went to Bucky's out there?

SPEAKER_10 (28:12):
We went to Bucky's out there.
There was one they're the bigones.
There were there was one, Ican't remember if it was, I know
there was one on our way toWaco, and then I think there was
one like 20 minutes from ourmotel that was in Melissa,
Texas.
And then there was one, I forgotwhat the name of the other town
was.
Um, but yeah, there was actuallytwo within driving distance

(28:33):
there.
So and the one in Tennessee isactually bigger, but yet they
originated from Texas.
Texas, that's right.
The one in Tennessee is a lotbigger.

SPEAKER_07 (28:41):

Zach, did we even have the radiostation when you were here?

SPEAKER_10 (31:57):
I was actually the class that kicked it off, but we
did not have nothing like this.
It's amazing when we leave howmuch grade we do.
I mean, there's a Chick-fil-A inhere now.
There's a subway.

SPEAKER_06 (32:11):
There is going to be a bank, but there's no
Chick-fil-A or subway.
I mean that's coming to thebiggest.

SPEAKER_10 (32:15):
We used to share the break room with the class right
next door, and now you'vealready things have changed, but
a lot has stayed the same.
I got to give a shout out to mymom.
She's listening.
Hi mom.
Yeah, she's listening.
She said, how about a shout-outto the woman that birthed him?

(32:37):
So shout out to my mom forlistening.
So we still praying for you.
Yeah.
Mom.
She's a very blessed woman.

SPEAKER_07 (32:45):
Yeah, okay.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_10 (32:47):
You think so?

SPEAKER_07 (32:47):
All right, so give us our sports report for this
week.
Clemson won.

SPEAKER_10 (32:51):
Yes, they did against a team with a pulse, a
little bit of a pulse.

SPEAKER_07 (32:55):
Here, honestly, and I'm not even being biased.
I was watching that game, andwhat the heck happened to
Florida State?
Beginning of the year, I thoughtthey were going to be world
beaters.
And what the heck is nothing.
And you know, they had a chanceto take the lead several times.
They had wide open guys, and hetook it on the broad side of a
barn.

SPEAKER_10 (33:16):
Yeah.
And and and I wish I could tellyou what happened because when
they blew out Alabama like theydid, I said, uh-oh, at least we
got them at home this year.
But man, I I don't know.
They they just I don't know.
They've fallen off, and butthat's where you live or die by
the portal.
Because they got all them portalreceivers, squirrel white from

(33:37):
Tennessee.
And um I I don't know.
But Clemson, I I hope they canwin Friday night.
That's a tough place to play.
I've been there, it's beautiful.
Um it's it's nice because whenyou're sitting in the upper
deck, because they've only gotone upper upper deck, and I want
to say it's taller thanClemson's.

(33:58):
You can see Churchill Downs onthe left side.
Um we actually went when Tiffanywas pregnant with Carson in 2019
and stayed for a few days, kindof like what me and my dad did
in Dallas and went to theCincinnati Zoo and stuff.
But it's a it's a little tough,it's a tough place to play.
Yeah, so but Ram plays West SideFriday night, second round of
the playoffs at West Side.

(34:19):
Um, should have probably beatthem a couple of weeks ago.
Um so but uh should beinteresting.

SPEAKER_07 (34:25):
They lost 21-7, so it's like they held them down,
but just didn't get any offense.

SPEAKER_10 (34:29):
No, that yeah, they didn't get no offense, and uh
Westside is down a little bitthis year, but they're they've
been scheduling everybody out ofthe state.
I mean, I think they started outwith a team from Alabama, and we
have a um guy that comes in, avendor that comes in, and uh he
uh he actually went to WestSide, and that's how I knew who

(34:50):
they were playing, and it'sactually Cutter Woods' little
brother that's the quarterback.
And uh he said they just havingto schedule all these people,
that's why they're 0-3 or 1-4 orwhatever.
But uh but they they won theregion.
That's all that matters.
You win the region.

SPEAKER_07 (35:05):
You can be winless until the region starts and run
the table.
Absolutely.
I've seen that a lot.
And of course, Ren was a fewyears ago.
I remember when they were reallygood, that's kind of what their
formula was.

SPEAKER_10 (35:16):
Yeah.
And I never thought, I neverthought in my lifetime,
especially as young as I am,that I would see Clemson win a
national championship infootball.
One, much less two, the Braveswin a World Series and Ren go to
a state championship.
That that was that that was allof your team, I can tell you.

(35:36):
Within a five-year, yeah, aboutfive years.

SPEAKER_07 (35:40):
That's an amazing window because my teams, yeah,
they've won championships overmy lifetime, but it's like a
50-year-old.

SPEAKER_10 (35:48):
Yeah, I think that's a good thing.
Clemson Clemson played for fournational championships.
Did you go to was you did you goto coffee?

SPEAKER_07 (35:53):
Those days they were good, weren't they?
And now that you can look backon those.

SPEAKER_06 (35:57):
Some years it's football years, some years it's
tailgating years.
And this is tailgating yeah.

SPEAKER_07 (36:02):
And uh and uh what's it gonna be basketball-wise this
year?
Another 500 season where theystart out great and then I don't
know, man.

SPEAKER_10 (36:10):
I don't know.
We'll we'll see.

SPEAKER_07 (36:12):
We'll uh it seems like they always reach a certain
point and then uh Yeah, we'llwe'll we'll see.

SPEAKER_10 (36:18):
You know, it's kind of like it's kind of like
baseball a little bit.
I mean, it just depends on howhow you do, how you shoot.
Like the other night, I knowthey play Gardner Webb, they won
by 38 and only shot 28% fromthree.
So to me, they shoot the threeball too much.
To me, they shoot the three balltoo much.

SPEAKER_07 (36:38):
But they have do they have rebounders or just
shooters?
Well, they got missing them.

SPEAKER_10 (36:42):
One thing I like about Brad Brownell is he goes
into the portal and getseverybody.
RJ Godfrey transferred fromClemson to Georgia.
Now he's back at Clemson.
Um, so they've got Biggs downlow.
I don't know about any shooters.
They've got Chase Thompson thatcome in.
He's supposed to be a good, youknow, a good shooter.
I went to the exhibition game,um, but of course they don't

(37:04):
show you nothing at theexhibition game.
Um so uh me and my sister andthe WWE crew went to the uh
exhibition game.
So uh, and it's free.
Uh it's kind of what I wishfootball would do.
You know, instead of having thespring game, just play like a
Furmin or somebody, instead ofplaying them in the regular
season, play a Furman, let it befree, your tickets be five

(37:26):
dollars, then you get a fullgame of how your team's gonna
be.
Instead of the spring game, youdon't see anything in the spring
game.

SPEAKER_06 (37:33):
There's too much money involved, Zach.

SPEAKER_07 (37:35):
Yeah, I know.
I know.
Now they don't even do much atall in the spring games.

SPEAKER_06 (37:38):
No, don't even have them covered by media because of
the portal and all that.

SPEAKER_07 (37:44):
They don't want anybody seeing the other
players.

SPEAKER_10 (37:46):
I I would go for Carson, you know, because Carson
likes that kind of thing, but Itry not to because it's just
it's just a waste of time to me.
I mean the game's over in anhour and a half.

SPEAKER_07 (37:57):
So well, speaking of Carson and the WWE, uh you went
last Friday, right?
Yes, sir.
Here in Greenville forSmackDown, and I see a picture
of her crying.

SPEAKER_10 (38:09):
Yeah.
So we sit down like any kiddoes, and uh we could not get
lower bowl.
I try to get Carson on the lowerbowl, and uh we couldn't because
them tickets went fromsixty-five dollars apiece to a
hundred and thirty within lessthan six months.
So I told my sister, I said,we're gonna have to settle for

(38:30):
upper uh upper bowl tickets.
And uh so we did.
We got right, and my dad worksthere part-time and uh does
maintenance.
I don't know.
He carries around awalkie-talkie, like he's doing
something.
He's yeah, he he can't.

SPEAKER_06 (38:45):
I'm sure he's working.

SPEAKER_10 (38:47):
But we we were on like the fourth row that we had
really good seats, and so we sitdown, she goes, We had just
finished supper, and uh, becausewe always go eat before, Daddy.
I like to have some cottoncandy.
So my sister went and got Carsonsome cotton candy.
I said, Well, you're gonna makeit last through the night,
because if you let her, she'lleat it in one sitting.

(39:08):
And so I text Tiffany and Isaid, You're gonna be mad at me
if you knew how much Carson wasspoiled, you know, as far as
eating.
My sister went and got twobottled drinks and a thing of
cotton candy, and it was$27.

SPEAKER_06 (39:23):
Oh, yeah, it's expensive.

SPEAKER_10 (39:25):
And so, uh, so yeah, she she was crying.
Uh she was eating her cottoncandy, and I forgot what match
it was.
Uh uh the person she wanted towin, I usually fast forward
through the women's matches.
And so Carson likes to watchthem.
And uh, I forgot what match itwas.
She uh she just started cryingat the blue, and I said, baby,

(39:46):
what's wrong with it?
I wanted that one to win.
And I'm like, if she only knewwhat this was about.
And a funny story about that.

SPEAKER_06 (39:56):
And you took her picture and put it on social
media.

SPEAKER_10 (39:58):
Yeah, I took a video.

SPEAKER_06 (39:59):
So so 15 years down the road, she's gonna say, Dad,
why did you do that?

SPEAKER_10 (40:03):
Yeah, so rambling again.
Uh, so I got a funny story aboutmy sister with the WWE.
Um, it was back when uh DanielBryan and Kane was having their
little feud.
And uh, and my sister's a big AJLee fan.

(40:24):
I'm sitting at the RennPetersville game.
I'm assuming you were at theRenn Petersville game.

SPEAKER_06 (40:28):
Usually I am, yes.

SPEAKER_10 (40:29):
At football this past year.

SPEAKER_06 (40:30):
Oh, this yes, this past year.

SPEAKER_10 (40:31):
So I'm I'm sitting there and there was rumors she
was gonna return.
My sister calls me cryingbecause A.J.
Lee returned.
And I'm sitting there trying topay attention to the ball game,
had to answer her FaceTime, trying to watch SmackDown
because I had Carson with me.
So I believe it, I believe it'sback when she was in it back in

(40:53):
the day.
But uh it was either her oranother person.
But I know it involved DanielBryan and Kane, and Kane come
out, attack Daniel Bryan, and itshows them putting him into an
ambulance.
Well, where we were parked at,we walked around the back of the
Bilo Center, and um thesuperstars were leaving because
you had to stop, let them pullout.

(41:14):
Well, we see Daniel Bryan andBree Bella leave.
My and Caitlin goes, Well, wasthat Daniel Bryan?
I said, Yeah.
She said, I thought he left inan ambulance earlier.
So I'm like, well, I just ruinedit for her.
So I'm afraid Carson is gonna bedevastated when she figures out

(41:37):
all of its plan.
So that's all right.

SPEAKER_07 (41:40):
Still entertaining.
It is, it is sure is.
All right, we're we're movingright into our next segment
here, which um, you know, lastweek we had a guest that claimed
to be a Disney adult.
Yes, so we quizzed her on.
She was.
And she was almost top tier.
Yeah, just missed top tier.
So Zach here claims to be a goodgirl dad.

SPEAKER_06 (42:00):
Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_07 (42:01):
So we're gonna give him the girl dad quiz and see
where he ranks.

SPEAKER_06 (42:05):
There you go.
Do I need to keep track?

SPEAKER_07 (42:08):
Now it's just a point for every yes answer,
okay?
I got it.
So can you keep track of that?
Yep, got it.
In your head.

SPEAKER_04 (42:13):
I got it.

SPEAKER_07 (42:14):
Oh boy, I've heard that before.
I got it.
It's like those waiters orwaitresses that come over to
your table and they don't haveanything written down.
I got it, I got it.

SPEAKER_06 (42:22):
Well, throw me that pen right there and I'll make
sure I keep keep track of it.

SPEAKER_07 (42:26):
Okay.
You got paper.
Yeah, you got paper.

SPEAKER_06 (42:28):
I'm I'm good.
I'm I'm set.
I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_07 (42:30):
Just want to make sure we can't miscalculate.
Gotcha.
All right.
It's important.
All right, Zach.
You're being grilled now.
Be honest about every answer.
Okay?
Brutally honest or honest?
Well, it some could be brutally.
So let's see.
All right, first question.
There are 20 questions.
We'll see how many points youget.
Have you ever carried a tinybackpack that wasn't yours?

SPEAKER_10 (42:51):
Yes.

SPEAKER_07 (42:52):
Do you know at least three Disney princesses by name?

SPEAKER_10 (42:56):
Yes.
What are they?
Oh Lord.
You gotta prove it.
Elsa, Anna, and Mirabelle.

SPEAKER_06 (43:06):
I don't necessarily know if Anna is a princess.
Oh, come on, give me this.
Give me another one.

SPEAKER_10 (43:14):
I'm trying to think which I'm gonna be able to do
that.

SPEAKER_06 (43:16):
I mean, there's a big one in uh like blue outfit.

SPEAKER_10 (43:20):
Cinderella.
There you go.
I was trying to think of onesthat I was trying to think of
ones that she was in that.
We'll give you the point.
We'll give you the one.

SPEAKER_07 (43:29):
Have you ever fixed a doll's hair or tried to?

SPEAKER_10 (43:35):
Maybe.
No.
I know, I know, no, I know Ihave tried to put them in a car
seat for Carson.
I know I've I know I've tried toput them in a couple of things.
Yeah, I don't think I've everfixed a doll's hair.

SPEAKER_05 (43:47):
Okay.

SPEAKER_07 (43:48):
Give him a half point.
Okay.
Um have you ever played TeaParty without being asked twice?

SPEAKER_10 (43:58):
If restaurant counts, I have.
Oh.
Same thing.
So she does restaurant.
She does restaurant.
Okay.

SPEAKER_07 (44:04):
All right.
If you say so, Holly.
Uh do you know what a scrunchieis and where they disappear to?
I do not.

SPEAKER_05 (44:11):
Don't know what a scrunchie is.

SPEAKER_07 (44:13):
I do not.
Tell him, Holly.

SPEAKER_05 (44:15):
A scrunchie is a hair tie.

SPEAKER_07 (44:18):
They're probably two.
Oh, I call them hair bows.
Yeah.
I call them hair ties.
I call them hair hair ties.
I'm sure he's got it.
All right, we're not gonna givehim that one.
Uh have you ever let yourdaughters put makeup stickers or
nail polish on you?
We need to see pictures.
Uh, do you know the differencebetween a tutu and a dress-up

(44:40):
gown?

SPEAKER_10 (44:40):
I do.

SPEAKER_05 (44:42):
What's the difference?

SPEAKER_07 (44:42):
What's the difference?

SPEAKER_10 (44:44):
A tutu.
Oh gosh.
Tiffany said they're listeningin the car now.
So I'm trying to figure thisout.
A tutu, y'all are gonna probablylaugh, isn't it the things that
they wear in Hawaii?
Is that like like a like half ofa dress or well it's half of a
half?

(45:05):
I mean I know what a dress ishalf of a dress.

SPEAKER_07 (45:07):
We'll give you that.

SPEAKER_04 (45:07):
We'll get we'll we can give them a half a point.

SPEAKER_07 (45:09):
Okay, give them a half a point.

SPEAKER_04 (45:10):
Half a point.

SPEAKER_07 (45:11):
Um Have you ever said, hold still so I can fix
your bow?

SPEAKER_10 (45:15):
Yes.
Carson is a nightmare when itcomes to hair.

SPEAKER_07 (45:19):
Uh have you attended a dance recital or school
performance with tears in youreyes?
Now yours are still prettyyoung, but yeah, not yet I
haven't.

SPEAKER_10 (45:30):
Not yet, I haven't.
Carson graduates K5 thisupcoming May.

SPEAKER_07 (45:33):
So do you know at least one kid-friendly song by
heart?

SPEAKER_10 (45:40):
Are you gonna ask me to sing it?

SPEAKER_07 (45:44):
Yeah, sure.

SPEAKER_10 (45:45):
I'm trying to think.
Oh man.
Come on.
Yes, I do because Emory fussesif she don't get to hear some of
her songs.
So give us one.

SPEAKER_07 (45:59):
Yeah, come on, Sam.

SPEAKER_10 (46:01):
What is the one that she what is the one that she
likes so much?
There's so many of them.
Tiffany, text him real quick.
Yeah, Tiffany, text me.
We want to hear him sing.
If you know the song I'm talkingabout.
There's one I know that there'sa hole in the bottom of the sea,
but that was Carson's.
Emery likes one.

SPEAKER_04 (46:18):
Um It doesn't matter who it is, just give us a little
bit more.

SPEAKER_10 (46:21):
I'm trying to think.
I'm trying to tune.
It's an hour-long show.

SPEAKER_05 (46:24):
Yeah, I'm trying to We're not gonna give him the
point until he sings it a littlebit.
All right, so move on to theshow.

SPEAKER_07 (46:29):
So let's let's move on.
We'll come back to the song.
Uh let's see.
Have you ever shown up somewherewith glitter still on you?
I'm gonna say yes.
I'm gonna say yes.
That's usually, yeah.
Do you know the exact locationof the nearest bathroom
everywhere you go?
Yes.

SPEAKER_03 (46:48):
For sure.

SPEAKER_07 (46:50):
Um can you braid hair even if it's a little
crooked?
No.
Tiffany wants me to look at it.
That's a tough one.
No, I cannot.
I don't know how to do it.
Have you ever carried a kid, astuffed animal, a juice box, and
a coat all at once?
Yes.
Do you automatically pack snacksjust in case?

SPEAKER_10 (47:10):
Yes.
Okay, Tiffany text me.
Okay, we got the song.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star.
How I think.

SPEAKER_07 (47:19):
Is that the song that you couldn't remember?

SPEAKER_10 (47:21):
Well, I think it's a good thing.

SPEAKER_07 (47:23):
That's really a lullaby.

SPEAKER_10 (47:25):
But but it's Emery, though.

SPEAKER_06 (47:27):
It should be like Let It Go.

SPEAKER_10 (47:28):
Oh.
That's Carson.

SPEAKER_06 (47:30):
Well, you can still sing it.
Sing it.
Do you know Let It Go?

SPEAKER_10 (47:33):
Let It Go, Let It Go.
That's all I know.
I'm not singing no more.
I don't want to ring nobody'sear, though.

SPEAKER_06 (47:39):
We give it to you.

SPEAKER_07 (47:40):
Good idea.
Good choice there.
Um, let's see, where was I?
Do you save drawings or notesyour daughters give you?
Yes.

unknown (47:49):
Okay.

SPEAKER_07 (47:49):
Have you had a serious life talk in the car
ride home from school?
I know that they're starting towell, it's one's five years old.

SPEAKER_10 (47:59):
Not from school, but from other places because they
go to school with Tiffany.
But yeah, other other places Ihave, yeah.

SPEAKER_07 (48:05):
And isn't it fun when when your kids you you
realize when they are young, andall of a sudden you realize
you're having a conversationwith them for the first time?
It's like you've never reallyhad a conversation, and then all
of a sudden they're old enoughto talk and you're talking back
and forth, and it's like, whoa, wow.
Hey, wait, wait, wait, yourmic's not on when you and you're

(48:26):
sitting five feet away to learnanything in broadcasting class.

SPEAKER_02 (48:30):
Just just wait till they start arguing.

SPEAKER_10 (48:32):
Yeah.
Yes, she has a twin sister, sothey migrate to their own.
So yeah, Carson, Carson isreally bad about we've got we
got Tiffany in a new car, athird row car, and we'll we'll
be listening to the radio, andCarson's real bad about going,
mommy.
Tiffany's like, Carson, you'regoing to have to speak up.
So yeah, yeah.

(48:53):
She'll speak up soon enough, believe me.
Uh, do you check on them atnight even when they're already
asleep?
Uh let me tell you, um,Tiffany's got cameras all over
their rooms.
No, they we've got babymonitors.
Right.
So we've got we've got uhTiffany had it on the iPad and
then it quit working, and thenwe had one above Emory's crib,

(49:13):
and then she decided, what isthat?
I'm gonna pull it down.
So we had to get a baby monitorand put it on the other side of
the room.
So yes, we do.

SPEAKER_07 (49:21):
Yes, but is that you actually checking going?

SPEAKER_06 (49:23):
Yeah, the Tiffany checking.

SPEAKER_10 (49:25):
Oh no, that's Tiffany.
Oh no, that's not you.
That is not me.
Yeah, no, that's not me.
That's Tiffany.

SPEAKER_07 (49:31):
She has the full, you know, security thing with 50
cameras and all that, seeingevery angle of the room.
Um, okay, a couple more.
This one's really easy.
Uh, would you fight a full grownbear to protect your girls?
Duh.
Absolutely.
Free point right there.

SPEAKER_10 (49:47):
Well, Emory will probably get to it first.
She'd be saying.
Have you seen any pictures I puton social media of that
youngin'?
Uh yes.
Never smiling.
Yes.

SPEAKER_07 (49:57):
Never smiling.
All right, this is the lastquestion, and then we'll see how
you did.
If your daughters asked you to,and maybe they're still too
young, but time's coming, wouldyou get on stage for a
daddy-daughter dance?
I sure would.
All right.
I sure would.
All right, Holly, add it up.
Let's see where he ranks as agirl dad.

SPEAKER_06 (50:16):
He's sitting at 15 points, Mr.
Boone.

SPEAKER_07 (50:19):
He just snuck in as an elite girl dad.

SPEAKER_04 (50:24):
There you go.

SPEAKER_07 (50:25):
15 to 20 points.
You have unlocked the dadprincess special edition badge.
We don't have one to give you,but that's that's what uh that's
what you've won tonight.
All right.
Uh a couple of things in thenews before we get Zach's
recommendations.

SPEAKER_06 (50:40):
Yep, that's important.

SPEAKER_07 (50:41):
There's one thing that we didn't get to last week,
but there's a thing.
Howie, there it is.

SPEAKER_04 (50:46):
I did, I pushed it.

SPEAKER_07 (50:48):
Did you put do that again?
Push the button.
There.
See, that worked.
My goodness.

SPEAKER_02 (50:54):
Did you learn anything in media practice?

SPEAKER_07 (50:56):
We spent we spent all this money to get this
studio outfitted with mutebuttons.
Oh, my ears.
Edit that out.
Um, okay.
Dinner time in America.
Uh there is a big thing that'strending again, and it's not a
food.
Do you do you have any idea whatit might be?

(51:19):
Dinner time in America in yourhouse.
And it's not food.
Not food.
No.
I I mean Do you guys still haveany dinners like around the
table?

SPEAKER_10 (51:35):
No, we don't.
We actually eat in the livingroom on our TV tables.

SPEAKER_07 (51:40):
That's what the answer is.
Really?
TV tables are becoming a hugething again.

SPEAKER_10 (51:46):
We got rid of our dining room table, number one,
because we went on vacation inAugust.
My mom, my two aunts, shout outto my mom again, come in,
decluttered our whole house, anduh because Tiffany's a clutter.
She she loves to clutter.
And uh she'll say I am, but no,nobody's as bad as she is.

(52:06):
So we got rid of our dining roomtable because that was where,
and I say we put all of ourstuff.
Now we got a big open area.
So we use the TV tables becausewe have our shows that we watch,
and or we may watch a movie likeright now.
We we're on the Transformerssaga now.
Um, so I think we're on numberthree in the middle of number

(52:27):
three, so that's what we do fordinner now.

SPEAKER_07 (52:29):
Yeah, TV trays.
Yeah, yeah.
Nobody knows less than half ofthe training.

SPEAKER_10 (52:33):
Her mom got them for us for Christmas a couple years
ago.

SPEAKER_07 (52:36):
John, do you sit around?
No, we didn't we got rid of ourdining room table.

SPEAKER_06 (52:40):
Wow.
Yeah, yeah.
Now we we do for the most part, when Madeline is there.
Um, she obviously is involved inso much stuff, so she's not
there a lot after school.
But when she is, we do sitaround it.
Last night, well, we sat in thekitchen last night or the night
before.
But for the most part, yes, whenwe're when she's home, we all
sit it together.

SPEAKER_07 (53:00):
Well, that's good.
That is good.

SPEAKER_06 (53:02):
It helps conversation, no TV and we sit
and potentialize.

SPEAKER_07 (53:11):
And that's a combination of eating, you know,
on the couch or wherever andgoing out eat.
A lot more people just go out.

SPEAKER_06 (53:18):
Now we do that a lot.

SPEAKER_02 (53:19):
Yeah, I eat by myself in my room because
everyone's asleep when I gethome.

SPEAKER_06 (53:24):
See, that's and that's what Madeline does now.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_07 (53:27):
Oh Madeline.
Gotta have her and do her ownshow.
That would be fun.

SPEAKER_02 (53:31):
We should get her to join us.
Let me and her run the show forone day.
No.
No.

SPEAKER_07 (53:36):
Especially neither of you have filters.
So uh yeah.

SPEAKER_10 (53:42):
I do me I need to bring I don't know if he's
listening now, but I got a bestfriend, Zach.
And we we basically grew uptogether.
And uh me he needs to come inwith me one day.
Y'all would absolutely enjoyZach.
He's the one who wants to do thepodcast with me.
And uh he came up with it andand everything.

(54:02):
So I think we're gonna start it.
Um just about random stuff, buthe is he's a trip.
He he really is.
He's he's he's a trip.

SPEAKER_07 (54:11):
All right, a couple more things.
Um there's a viral post onthreads.
Anybody use threads?
Just once in a while, ifsomebody refers me to something
on there, I'll go.

SPEAKER_10 (54:23):
But yeah, I I I downloaded it because something
may come up about sports, andyou click on it and it won't
pull up unless you have the app.
So I mean it's like a TwitterInstagram thing.

SPEAKER_07 (54:34):
So, how about this?
There's a viral post um sparkingrenewed debate over iPad kids
and whether the real issue isscreens or society's shrinking
tolerance for childhoodbehavior.
The discussion began when ascreen-free parent of ADHD
children suggested the kidsoften turn to tablets because

(54:55):
they're discouraged fromrunning, exploring, or being
nosy noisy, excuse me, inpublic.
Thousands of commenters sharedmemories of when children were
allowed to play more freely, contrasting it with today's
expectation that kids remainperfectly quiet and composed.
Many noted that fewer adultshave children now, and empathy
for parents and patience fortypical child behavior seems to

(55:18):
have declined.
So almost like they're notletting them be children because
the iPad is the babysitter.

SPEAKER_04 (55:26):
Correct.

SPEAKER_07 (55:26):
So when they're out in public, they're not even
experiencing being out in publicbecause they're just attached to
a screen.
Correct.
What what's your view on screenswith your little girls coming
up?

SPEAKER_10 (55:37):
Okay, that's a really, really good point.
Um we were doing it uh whenCarson was younger, and then it
got to the point to where nowthat she's older, she expects it
all the time.

SPEAKER_05 (55:52):
The tablet.

SPEAKER_10 (55:53):
Yes, or uh screenshot.
So what we do now is like if meand Tiffany's with all y'all and
we're out to dinner, and Carsondoesn't know any of y'all, we
may give it to her then.
Right.
Because she's gonna be bored, she may she she may not know
what to do.
If there's a lot of people,we'll give it to her.
And a lot of times I've learnedthat we've pulled away from it,

(56:16):
but a lot of times, okay, baby, you can watch that.
She'll play like PBS kids,whatever.
You can watch that as long asyou eat.
And that's how we get her toeat.
She knows that if she if she'spaying attention to that screen,
she's got to eat.
A lot of times that'd help hereat.
Um, so I guess it Tiffany, honestly, Tiffany's Demore could

(56:37):
give you a better reason than Idid about why.
And and I understand because theway Tiffany looks at if me and
Tiffany go out on a date, um wedon't take our phones in.
If we do, they stay on the sidebecause when we go in, that's
all we see.
She says, I do not want to bethat family.

SPEAKER_05 (56:52):
That's right.

SPEAKER_10 (56:53):
And that's why Tiffany looks at it that way.
I don't want to be that family.
And and now I see why.
Um so but uh but yeah, I'm I'mI'm okay with it as long as it's
not an all-the-time place.
That's right.
And see, Carson's five, so shereally don't understand balance.

SPEAKER_06 (57:10):
Um it sounds like y'all are doing the right thing.

SPEAKER_10 (57:13):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_07 (57:14):
Yeah, yeah.
Balance is a thing.
And to let kids, when they'reout, don't not just use it as a
as a babysitter, but let themexperience uh things in the
world.
And they say it'll build thingslike patience, communication,
coping skills rather than givingthem the screen, which is an
artificial coping skill.
That's right.
Um so yeah, good good set.

SPEAKER_06 (57:34):
Good job.

SPEAKER_07 (57:34):
And and really good Tiffany.

SPEAKER_06 (57:36):
Good Tiffany.

SPEAKER_07 (57:37):
Good Tiffany.
Good job.
She does, she does a lot ofthings.
No phones.
But if a Clemson game is on andyou're out at the restaurant,
that's the same.
Well see, that's that's anotherthing.
That's all different.

SPEAKER_10 (57:45):
That that's another thing, too, is that that
Tiffany's helped me with, andeven both of my parents um is me
watching a Clemson game, Carsondon't see that.
All Carson sees is Daddy's gotthe phone.
Why can't I have it?
So now Apple's got this newthing called Apple Sports.
It's a green app, and I've gotClemson saved, I had the Braves

(58:07):
saved, Tennessee.
Why Tiffany's a Tennessee fan, Idon't understand.
But um I got them saved, and thescore, the time, play-by-play,
it all runs across.
When we were on the plane, um Iwas able to keep up with it for
some.
The Wi-Fi didn't work on the wayto Dallas, but on the way back
from Dallas, of course, itworked fine.

(58:29):
How I found out about the waythe Duke game ended was I was
having to keep up with itunderneath the score.
They didn't have HCC network.
I told my dad I said, hey,Clemps is winning 45-38, and
then 30 seconds left, and Dukegoes up by one.
But uh but yeah, to go back tothat, they uh that's how they uh
that's how we look at it.
Is uh it depends on thesituation, where we're at.

(58:52):
Like she used to have an iPadtill it it was our old iPad till
it decided it wasn't gonna workanymore.
And when she'd get home fromdaycare, she would have about
10-15 minutes on it.

SPEAKER_03 (59:02):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_10 (59:03):
And uh and it just got to wear every day.
You know, and when she hasgrandparents come over or
whatever, friends, we try not tolet her get on it because then
she's paying attention to that'sright not visiting.
So that's right.

SPEAKER_07 (59:16):
All right, the last piece of news is that uh your
new health food to know about isice cream.
That's what they're saying, thatuh ice cream now is actually
good for you.
Cuts down on the chance of heartattacks.

SPEAKER_05 (59:30):
Really?

SPEAKER_07 (59:31):
Yeah, believe it or not, check it out.

SPEAKER_05 (59:33):
To check it out.

SPEAKER_07 (59:34):
Yeah, if you have it, obviously, if you didn't
again, balance.

SPEAKER_05 (59:37):
Right.

SPEAKER_07 (59:37):
You don't go overboard, but if you can enjoy
a scoop or two, it's not gonnakill you.

SPEAKER_10 (59:42):
So uh yeah, anything we get sugar free.
Tiffany found some sugar freepopsicles at Sam's.
Oh my god.
Yeah, the kids don't know thedifference.
That's no, they don't.

SPEAKER_07 (59:52):
They do not because we used to do that the sugar
free stuff, sugar free jello, stuff like that.
They never knew the difference.
Yeah, of course.
Now I just wonder what kind ofchemicals.
Are in there that they're notsure.
Right.
But that's taking the place ofthe sure.
But anyway, so Zach, we're atthe point of the show, the very
end, where we have our guestsmake uh recommendations.
So, two areas.

(01:00:12):
We would like to hear yourrecommendations.
First thing, entertainment, something that you're watching,
binging, a movie, a book,something or other.
What can you recommend to ouraudience?

SPEAKER_10 (01:00:24):
Okay, if you like sitcoms and comedy, Fresh Prince
Bel Air's best show evercreated.
Will Smith is my favorite actor.
Tiffany says, I'm Will Smith2.0.
Um, Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Oh, that's funny.
That is awesome because theymake everything up off the top
of their head.
Yeah, it's awesome.
Um I like to joke around, liketo have fun.

(01:00:46):
I don't know that I could dothat.

SPEAKER_06 (01:00:47):
Improv is awesome.

SPEAKER_10 (01:00:48):
Um, and then uh movie, we're binge watching
Chicago PD again.
Yeah.
We we love all the Chicagoshows.
My sister's actually into allthree of them.
She actually started from startto finish, so we've been back.
Now we were on, we started likein season 10 or 11.
They're on 13.
Now we're on season three, andwe're just binge watching it.

(01:01:10):
I got rid of YouTube TV, and nowI'm streaming everything now.
WWE decided they was going touse ESPN.
So I told my sister told me it,SmackDown Friday, I think I'm
gonna cancel.
I just get too much.
I said, No, don't, don't.
I said, that's how I can watchmy football games, and so now me
and her split it.
Oh, that makes sense.

SPEAKER_07 (01:01:28):
Um, okay, and the other is food.
Can you recommend a restaurantfor our listeners?

SPEAKER_10 (01:01:34):
The if you're in the area, downtown Greenville area,
and Tiffany always says Ipronounce it wrong, Tracura
Alley.
Downtown Green.

SPEAKER_06 (01:01:44):
Chakura Alley.
There you go.

SPEAKER_10 (01:01:45):
See, I said it wrong.
Hollywood.
I can see her now texting me.
It is very, very good.
They got one in um What do youeat there?
Uh well, they're nachos.
Yes, they're gonna have to get alot of chosen.
And they got burgers.
Me and Tiffany got a half orderof nachos.
Yeah, you could get half order.
Yes, and we could have split awhole.

SPEAKER_03 (01:02:06):
Yes.

SPEAKER_10 (01:02:07):
Their half order is enough.

SPEAKER_03 (01:02:08):
Huge.

SPEAKER_10 (01:02:09):
And they were cheap.
It cost me and Tiffany like nowall four of us, we can't go out
for no less than$40 now.
Especially if the girls get whatthey want.
But um I think it cost us lessthan$30 there.
And we both got, you know, weusually just get water, but I
think both of us got a tea in asoda.

(01:02:29):
And uh I think it was less than$30 there.
But it was really, really good.
Where's that located?
Downtown Greenville and thendowntown Travelers Rest.

SPEAKER_06 (01:02:36):
Okay.
Tiffany by Gianna's or right bythe bridge.

SPEAKER_10 (01:02:41):
Tiffany says she's got a recommendation, Secret
Lives of Mormon Wives.
Oh my goodness.
That's yeah, that's her.
She's waiting on that to comeback home.
Before we get out of here, before we get out of here, um,
you know me, I like I like totell jokes and everything.
I've got one before we leave.
Um, there's this uh magicianthat's on a cruise ship, and uh

(01:03:06):
the captain has a parrot, andthe magician's doing his show.
Well, the parrot had attendedthe show enough he knew what the
magician was gonna do.
So he would sit there and sitthere and sit there and he'd
say, It's in his pocket, butit's in his hat, book, it's in

(01:03:26):
his sock, book.
So eventually the captain, themagician, had enough of this
bird, had enough of it.
And when he he pulled out hispistol and shot the bird, and
the bird ducked and blew theship into a million a billion
pieces.
And the only survivors on the shon the uh on the ship was the

(01:03:51):
parrot and the magician, andthey're floating out in the
middle of the sea on two littlepieces of wood, and the parrot
looks at the magician and goes,All right, I give up.
Where's the ship?
It's pretty good, eh?
Pretty good.

SPEAKER_07 (01:04:08):
Oh boy, thank you.
What a way to end the show,Zach.

SPEAKER_10 (01:04:11):
I had a parrot, I had a parrot one time, but he uh
he died because he couldn't tellme he was hungry.

SPEAKER_07 (01:04:18):
Wow.

SPEAKER_10 (01:04:19):
Pretty good.
We better go before that becauseuh source really off the time.

SPEAKER_06 (01:04:24):
Oh, man.

SPEAKER_07 (01:04:24):
But thank you, Zach Howard, for coming and being on

SPEAKER_07 (01:04:38):
He's been promoting the heck out of this.

SPEAKER_10 (01:04:40):

sisters, Tiffany, my two girls,Carson and Emery.
So uh thank you everybody fortuning in.

On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
