(00:43):
give us the rundown about unionsand why they're important.
I definitely learned a lot.
I think that was the episodethat I learned the most because
I did not really know much atall about unions.
No, I didn't either.
And again, like all theprotections.
That they provide is just, I cansee why people don't like them.
(01:05):
And by people I mean like higherups, not actual people.
Right.
By people you mean?
Yeah.
Billionaires..

Oh, so I went to, super NintendoWorld at Universal Studios
Hollywood, California BestWeekend.
Oh fun.
(02:33):
It was really, really cool.
Like, you even got to, like, youget these like power bracelets
and play these mini games.
And then it's also like a littlecompetition between,'cause the
bands are like per character.
So like, I had Yoshi, theboyfriend had Mario, and then,
there's tons of other ones.
And so it's a competition to seewhich character gets the most
(02:56):
points, like that day or I thinkoverall time too, which, like
the people at the top of thatlist are literally, I live it
Virgins Universal, oh, I live atUniversal Studios.
But you could actually punch thelike, power up blocks for Mario
and it would be like dinging andgive you coins and I don't know,
like the feedback was likeperfect.
(03:18):
And just like the child in methat grew up on playing,
Nintendo and Mario games, was sovery pleased and so very happy.
and you got to see PrincessPeach in real life.
I did.
I did.
I didn't get my picture takenbecause I was like, do I wanna
stand in line with all of thoselike five-year-old girls or
(03:42):
should I just see her from afarand be like, Hey bitch, remember
me?
I'm not like a character meter.
I feel like that kind of just, Idon't know if it gives me
anxiety, but I think I'm justit's not my priority, That
should have been like yourChristmas card though.
I, if it was mine, that's what Iwould've sent out.
Just me and Peach.
(04:03):
Oh, and then they had the, likeMario Kart ride, so they had VR
headsets.
that was really dope.
that was really cool to see.
I'm excited.
Do you get sit on rides?
I don't.
I like, I don't, I won't ever dothe rides that they always have
in like, for like the kids, theones that like, spin around.
Yeah.
And you fly out, I'm not gonnado those, but like, well, no,
(04:25):
no, no, no.
I used to do like anytime I wentto Disney, like I would always
do like Tower of Terror, sothat's fun.
I don't know.
I do think, as I get older, Ifeel like I have a stomach less
and less for rides.
But like, this was not one, Ithink it was also made for like,
small kids too.
So it was okay.
(04:46):
I, it's the spinning or anythingthat's like virtual.
Do you get motion sicknessreally easily.
Okay.
That's how my dad is.
Yeah.
And I'm gone.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I can, some games now make getme like motion sick.
there are some games I used tobe like, I used to be able to
(05:06):
play borderlands.
No problem.
But like now, for some reasonwhen I play that game in
particular, it makes me emotionsick after a little bit.
Sun's in the forest, that's whenI have to close my eyes on like
when we're on the golf cart, ohyeah, the golf cart and swims in
the forest does that to me too,for sure.
But overall, I don't know.
I'll have to go back to Disneyto see if I can still do tower
(05:27):
after.
But it's just you gotta test it.
The last time I was atDisneyland, I was pregnant.
And so it was mostly juststanding in lines, walking
through farts.
And then I couldn't go on any ofthe rides except the like
Pirates of the Caribbean.
Like I couldn't do anythingelse.
Like, you know, the sittingrides, I couldn't do anything
that spin or like no rollercoaster.
(05:48):
So I went to the tiki room likethree times.
I would love to go to Mario Landthough.
Yeah, no, it was, it's so cool.
And like I was also thinkingit's, it's definitely smaller.
So I think it's actually reallygood for smaller kids.
Like instead of taking them tolike the entirety of Disney or
the entirety of Universal, likeI think it's the perfect size.
(06:11):
'cause there's still a lot to doand I think a kid could still
get overwhelmed in there.
But like my favorite part ofDisneyland is 10, 10 30 at night
when you're standing in linewaiting for the bus to go home
and you watch a 3-year-oldabsolutely meltdown, dissolve,
(06:33):
just fall asleep or meltdown andscream.
No, there's no coming back.
It is just pure overload.
Shrieking in a princess crownwith a little like cup and wand
and just absolutely lost theirshit.
And their parents are panicking.
It's my favorite.
(06:53):
That's my favorite Disney ride.
And they're like, why did wehave children?
Yes.
My nephew's gonna go for thefirst time to Disney next month.
oh, that'll be fun.
So I'm not going but I'm excitedfor him.
I think he's just gonna wannastay in like cars land the whole
time basically.
Oh yeah.
But you gotta tell'em theAriel's out there somewhere,
(07:15):
somewhere Ariel exists.
Oh yeah, that right.
And Ariels.
I'm glad you had a good time.
Yeah, but it was good.
Oh my God, that'll be so muchfun.
But just like, I don't know, like experiencing that after
having grown up with all thatwas just like, I don't know, it
was just like a cool little likehug that like from, I don't
(07:36):
know, like maybe I'm just likehonoring, you know, tiny tot
Jamie.
which I think I do in so manyways, but just healing the inner
child, if you will.
Aw.
So it was really nice.
That was the first video game Ilearned to play and my uncles
had a Nintendo and yeah, whenthey were out of the house, I
(07:58):
would steal it and try to playit and I taught myself to play
and so yeah.
I love Super Nintendo.
My grandma, my dad's mom hadNintendo and then Super
Nintendo.
Ooh.
And we had a Super Nintendo, sothat's mainly what I played
because that was like mainly allwe had growing up.
But like, um, dude, I rememberplaying like Dokey Kong country
(08:19):
with my grandma.
She was so into it.
She was like pretty good.
It was just like, it wasn't likeshe got it for her grandkids.
Like she got it because it wassomething she was interested in.
Hell yeah.
I think that's so cool.
Just being retired and playingvideo games.
Yeah.
God, it'd be so much fun livingthe dream.
(08:40):
We did not have a video gameconsole, but my parents got a
home computer and one like, yeah, obviously super strict
upbringing, but one of the gameswe had, it was called Creatures
two, which was basically videogame eugenics, like you bred
these little creatures and madethem mate, and they had specific
traits.
It was literally kid eugenics.
(09:02):
And I thought I had made that upin my head.
You know, like when you thinkyou remember something and
you're like, no, that's not itis 100% that's the game.
And I just cannot believe theylet us play that.
I feel like I've seen that.
It looked like gizmo andGremlin, like that's what they
looked like.
It looked like a really cute oneand then a really gross one was
all diseased and icky.
(09:23):
So what are we talking abouttoday, Jamie?
I'm so glad you asked Rebecca.
No, this is a perfect seguebecause, uh, we decided that we
wanted to talk about, differentthings that bring us comfort
that we may use as copingmechanisms.
but just different comfortthings, comfort food, comfort
(09:43):
shows.
cozy yeah, cozy.
The co like cozy things likecozy.
We're wearing cozy sweaters.
Cozy sweaters, Things that justmake you feel cozy.
Things that are comforting toyou.
Will you hold your cup likethis?
You go Yeah.
And just get like a little cozy.
But it's like you have a hot coout and Yes.
And you have to put your sleevesover your fingers and just go
(10:06):
put your little, put your thumbsor your thumb hole.
Yes.
And your sweater.
Just be cozy cozy and small withyour, yeah.
Big sweater and your blanket, things that make us feel like,
taken care of and secure andsafe, like mm-hmm.
I am, I know, I wanna say I'm aweirdo, but I know there are a
(10:29):
lot of people like me, but Ihave to watch and or listen to,
like shows about murder and likecrime or podcasts about murder
and crime that like comforts me.
That's my go-to.
And I think it's just becauseit's like I have some sort of
(10:50):
control in that.
Like I'm choosing to watch thisand like most of the time it's
like this story is alreadyplayed out and it'll have a
conclusion like at an end shaand Freida.
Sha and Freida.
What is that again?
taking pleasure in someoneelse's pain.
Yeah.
I mean, it's not that I'm nottaking pleasure in somebody
(11:12):
else's pain, it's not like that,but it's like I don't have to
think about all the shit goingon in my life.
Mm-hmm.
For a moment.
I can instead focus on the shitthat happened to somebody else.
That is much worse.
My kitchen may be messy, butsomeone isn't wearing my skin,
so.
(11:33):
Exactly.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is likeOh yeah.
Shows same buffy's.
Very comforting.
And it's not exactly, I mean, Iguess it is still murder.
yeah.
And also but also like pulls inlike fantasy, you know what I
mean?
Mm-hmm.
Because I was thinking aboutlike books.
Movies too.
(11:54):
Lord of the Rings is definitelya comfort.
Both the books and the moviesfor me.
I'm sorry there a lot of people.
Oh, but not for Rebecca.
Oh, that's so weird.
But you loved Lord of the Rings.
Have you seen the theory that'sgoing around that Fredo doesn't
know the Elf's name?
(12:14):
What the fuck is this?
What's the el the Yeah, Legosbecause when they're all's
around for a decade, Rebecca.
Okay, well I finally caught upto it and I didn't know that.
And I find that fascinating.
It's hilarious, but apparentlyif there's existing discourse, I
will continue.
No, it is fascinating.
(12:34):
I love it.
That's great.
I was just trying to connectwith all the other Lord of the
Ring people.
You mean me, you're trying toconnect with me.
Not gonna fucking do thatanymore.
Do you have comfort books?
Stiff by Mary Roach, and it's anentire book on what happens to
the human body when you die, andhow the human body is used post
death.
and we're not talking like justdecomposition we're talking
(12:56):
about.
how body bodies are used in testcrashes or, just a whole bunch
of different things.
And it's, I guess it's thesimilar vein as the podcast.
It's just something I, and Ifeel dumb, but do they use real
bodies in test crashes?
I just assumed that they wouldhave to like.
(13:17):
They're like, all right, wegotta, we got a fresh one.
And then what do, like thedealer, not dealership.
Yeah.
Dealerships.
Do the car, companies like, likebid, bid on the bodies.
But it has to be like quick, youknow, so when you leave your
body to science, that's whatthat means.
(13:38):
I guess like, I only everpicture it like in a medical
sense, you know?
Mm-hmm.
Like here, now you have thiscadaver to test this on, or like
to do this or to see if thissurgery can be done on a human
body and whatnot.
Mm-hmm.
Oh no.
They cut you up in little piecesand stuff a bunch of times.
(13:59):
They use different parts, godifferent places.
Yeah.
sometimes these whole body, butI mean, I even get that.
I just, it's always test crashdummies.
I didn't know there were testcrash cadavers.
One of the chapters, and I, thisis my, like my most comforting
chapter, one of the chapterstalks about alternatives to
cremation and burial.
And one of'em is.
(14:21):
Composting, which you and I havetalked about before, like human
composting.
But the other one is, it's inlike Norway or Denmark or
Sweden, one of those placeswhere they, they freeze dry your
body, right?
And so, you know, when it'sfreeze dried, your body's
quickly cooled down, there's nomoisture.
But then you're on this, thisplate that vibrates and it
(14:41):
breaks down the body into likereally tiny pieces.
And then you can use thosepieces to like add to compost,
to add to plants.
But it's just fascinating theoptions there are.
Oh, also, huh?
I was like checking to see whattype of sponsorship,
(15:01):
opportunities there were for us.
And I didn't know, I, how didyou call Fresh?
I didn't know.
I actually signed up for one anduh, cool.
So if you're interested inHelloFresh, believe you.
No.
Give them$30.
Give us$30.
Well that's, they, it's asponsorship, Rebecca.
Like we, we get I know, butyeah.
(15:24):
Alright, give them$30 and thengive us$30 please.
I didn't know we were doingHelloFresh.
I'm sorry.
I didn't have my ad voice on.
I didn't have my, I didn't, Ididn't either.
I was looking into it andapparently.
I looked into it a little toodeeply, but yeah.
Oh, well.
I love their insert.
Easy to make family friendlymeal here for weeknights and you
(15:48):
really enjoy their vegetarianoption.
Breakfast in the mornings as aquick grab and go.
I don't know if they have anyvegan options for listeners,
subscribe and use our code.
HelloFresh, P-O-G-H-F 1 5 2 1 46.
Wow.
Wow.
Super easy to remember andreceive.
(16:11):
Record this.
No, I'm gonna have you recordthis like in a legitimate ad and
put it in the episode.
10 Free Meals and a freeBreakfast For Life.
For Life.
Wait.
Free Breakfast for Life, or 10free Meals with a Free Breakfast
for Life.
Oh, one breakfast item and perbox.
Okay.
We're never gonna, we're nevergonna get sponsor.
(16:33):
This is great.
if you enjoy HelloFresh.
Just talking about like deadbodies.
And then it's hello, fresh.
All right.
Not, this is not good for it.
I also didn't realize like ourcozy episode would turn into
just, you know, but it iscomforting though.
You have a huge point though.
It's comforting because you knowwhat's gonna happen and the
answer is death and yeah, it'ssomething that is out of
(16:55):
control, but you know that'sgonna happen.
So you are in kind said, it'snot happening to me, you said,
and it's not happening to you.
It's like I, I know that I'm, ifI'm gonna watch this documentary
about Yes.
Jane Doe getting murdered.
Mm-hmm.
I know that Jane doe's gonna getmurdered.
I'm not gonna get murdered.
Right.
It's fine.
(17:15):
No, and the worst thing that hashappened to someone is not
happening to you.
Like there's, it's like almost aprimal comfort law and order,
specifically law and orderspecial victims unit.
To this day, it's still going.
Do you know that?
Do you know it's still going?
Yes, I do.
They're on like, yes, do like22.
(17:35):
Ice teas.
One liners are like, I'll watchYouTube compilations of him just
saying weird ass shit.
I wanna watch a YouTube com.
Compilation of like all the shitthat say Yeah, that call
breakfast.
Yeah.
At the beginning they're likedumb puns at the beginning when
they find a body or whatever, orthe victim and they're like, I
know.
I just, I love, it's good.
(17:56):
The show, I like the Dick VanDyke show too.
I, my mom used to watch it, likeI would have lunch and my mom
would be watching it in theother room when I was little and
it would be before I went downfor like a nap.
And so there's always like thissleepy.
Peanut butter and jelly kind oflike feeling when I watch it,
just like I have my littlesandwich and I'm ready for a
(18:17):
nap, and it just kind of is likethat instantly feeling.
I love that.
You know, like when you'relittle after your lunch and
you're just all sticky and warmand just, I don't know, you sit
with your mom for a minute andthen she's like, all right, it's
time for bed.
And I don't know.
That's what I get when I watchthat show.
Also, Dick Van Dyke he is sotall and so fine, but also
(18:39):
sleepy, cozy that likes sleepypeanut butter and jelly.
That reminds me of like gameshows.
Yes.
Because either I would be homesick or it was like before I was
going to school, or when I wentto like kindergarten for like
half day, and I would come homeand it would be before my nap or
(19:02):
after my nap, I don't knowwhich, and my mom would be down
in the basement where our TV wasand she would be folding laundry
always.
And I would go down there and bewatching like prices.
Right.
The prices right was so fun.
I don't remember what other oneswere on back then.
Sometimes though.
That's the only time, and that'sthe only time in her life she
(19:26):
would watch soap operas.
Other than that, like that's notsomething she was really into,
but she would.
Mm-hmm.
Like when we were like reallylittle.
She would watch some, my grandmaused to watch them.
She would tape them.
She had like her tape set up andGod had her soaps.
My, my mom's grandma, so like mygreat grandma, she lived with
(19:50):
them for a while when my mom waslike a teenager, I think like
preteen.
And she was obsessed withwrestling and so she would just
always be watching wrestling.
Is this, this isn't the same onewith the Nintendo?
No, this is a different, so youhad two cool grandmas.
Well, this was a great grandma.
(20:11):
Oh, I didn't, I didn't, I didn'tknow her, but, yeah, I actually
never met her.
She died before I was born, butum, that's still two very cool
grandmas.
But my mom always talks aboutlike how insane it was because
she was this very like,Christian like church going,
like old lady and then she wouldwatch wrestling and I just
imagine her like, you know, likecussing and screaming at the tv.
(20:34):
So funny.
Yeah.
I love that.
I love it.
She would've loved the rock.
Oh God no.
I love, yeah, I love that.
And then what were some others, like, were there any movies that
you used to watch when you werelittle and that you wa you watch
now?
Just like when you're just like,I can't fucking deal.
And you just put it in and kindof zone out.
(20:55):
I think a lot of'em more so stemfrom when I was like a teenager
rather than when I was littlethat are comforts.
Mm-hmm.
However, beauty and the Beastalways like mm-hmm I don't care
what anyone says about the liveaction that came out.
but I literally like bled whenthe singing started, when I went
(21:17):
to see the Live Action Beautyand the Beast in theaters.
'cause Beauty and the Beast waslike my thing when I was a kid
So low like, I mean most Disneymovies, but Beauty and the Beast
for sure.
Also, and this is when I havenot seen in a while, but it
keeps coming up for me so I feellike I need to watch it.
You remember Fern Gully?
I need to watch Fern Gully.
Okay.
This is a quick quiz todetermine what kind of person
(21:38):
are you.
Were you disappointed at how helooked when the beast turned
back into a human?
Oh, 1000%.
Yeah.
No, thank you.
That is the correct answer.
Yeah.
nobody in their right mind isattracted to like What his name
did.
We even have a name.
The beast.
His name is the beast.
(21:58):
Yeah.
His name's the beast.
He should be a beast.
Yeah, I saw like someone haddone like a revamp of him and he
had a beard and like it lookedlike Yeah.
How the fuck as a person, I waslike, that's who it should have
been.
He awar clearly.
So much disappointment.
His name was Adam.
It Adam, the fuck was that likeClear?
Was that like something theymade clear in the movie or like
(22:21):
they never called him Adam, theycalled him the beat, sir.
Your highness.
I don't, did they ever, I don'tthink they ever called him Adam.
Whatever.
Anyway, you're magnificentfluffiness.
Do you like beard?
All like Oh yes, yes.
Beard and everything.
Oh my God, he's so cute.
(22:41):
I look stupid.
Oh yeah.
No, I do love that one.
Not at all in the movie.
Okay.
Yeah, it must, okay, good.
Then I'm, I didn't think Imissed it in the, in the Disney
lore in the books.
I really need to watch Fern Gly.
We should do like a Fern Glywatch party and Discord.
that'd be awesome.
I'm afraid we're going to bedisappointed, but I'm in, I
(23:04):
don't know.
I don't know.
I kind of feel like it's gonnahold up.
Yeah.
What were some other shows?
I don't know.
Like I think it was just, yeah,it was Dickon Dyke show.
the Price Is Right and Yeah, Istill watch those as adults.
Buffy.
Oh, sailor Sailor Moon.
When I was a Taylor for sure.
(23:25):
That was good one.
It's a teenager.
Really?
Mine was kids in the hall.
My mom would be working outtathe house when I would come home
from high school.
And so she would be working andI would watch, all the reruns of
Kids in the hall and SaturdayNight Live while she was out.
Nice.
We didn't have cable, so whatelse did I watch?
(23:46):
Oh, just also watch, like thefamily show.
'cause I didn't have cable, so Ionly got to watch what was on
tv.
So like mm-hmm.
I never have gone back to watchthese, but there's still
something about them.
So actually that's a lie.
I literally just watched acouple episodes of Saved by the
Bell over the weekend.
oh.
I never watched it.
It was very French.
(24:07):
but saved by the Bell Boy MeetsWorld Family Matters step by
step.
Like all those, I hated BoyMeets World.
Oh, I liked Boy Meet Cory.
He was whiny fuck.
And he was like, Topanga, youhave to stay and don't go to
Stanford.
Stay here with like, he ruined awoman's fucking life.
And then when she cut her hair,he was like, Ew, I don't, he's
(24:30):
fucking crazy.
God, what is it with the, theseshows?
He's she was gorgeous.
And this turd of a child, isnthat what happened in Felicity
too, She like cut her hair andthen the guy was like, boy, what
a fucking uggo you are.
And then the audience wouldlaugh and it's oh my God.
But no, like the whole show, they made this gorgeous girl
feel like shit.
And yeah, he was so far belowher.
(24:53):
It's not even funny.
That's how I feel about Dawsonfrom Dawson Creek., I tend to
like wanna watch, oh, anotherone.
I guess it's from when I didfinally have some cable, have
cable access to cable, so I musthave been a little bit older,
but Degrassi, oh, I neverwatched that.
Degrassi is like really good.
(25:14):
Like I remember well no,'causeold Degrassi, like eighties
Degrassi, that was on regulartv.
I remember that was the firstI'd ever seen.
Ooh, the Adams family movies.
Those ones.
Yeah.
With the, like, the ones fromlike the late nineties, I think.
Mm-hmm.
Those are my, I love, like, whenI'm sick, I just love watching
them.
(25:34):
I'm trying to think of justthose like nineties movies that
like, I don't know, what was it,like Three Ninjas?
There's Three Ninjas.
There was Ninjas.
I don't know.
it was like Karate Kid, but oh,for a younger audience and not
as good.
and then we had stuff like, wasthe Dolphin one with Elijah
(25:56):
Wood?
Flip Flipper, right?
Flip Yeah.
Flipper.
Hey, why?
Oh no, that was, that was, no,it was Free Will Free Willy.
You're right.
Free Will.
Yeah.
I was like, wait, which one wasFlipper?
There was a, I watched Flipperreruns.
I didn't know there was a movieof it.
Three Ninjas, the Surf Ninjas.
I've never heard of Surf Ninjas, but maybe Do Good Ass, maybe it
(26:17):
was a scene.
And I mean more Disney, but Iloved Lion King.
And Aladdin.
I loved Aladdin.
are there any like books or bookseries that Yeah, I love reading
the, I love the Little House onthe Perry series.
I've read through that multipletimes.
I don't think I read that, butmy mom used to like, have me
watch that with her all thetime.
(26:38):
Like I feel like I watched a lotof it, but I never read any of
the books.
Yeah, no.
Every like summer or so, I'lljust go through'em and read'em.
And she really didn't haveElijah Woods.
Which one had Elijah Woods?
Wait, really?
Free Willie.
Oh, free Willie was that otherkid.
Wait, what?
See, you know what we haveGoogle?
(26:59):
How about I'm just look this upright now.
Okay.
You were right.
There was a Flipper movie, 1996and it was Elijah Wood.
Oh, okay.
So you were right.
I was right.
Thank you.
Oh, Homeward V Dude.
No, Homeward vow.
That is emotional cutting forchildren.
I, that movie breaks me everytime It has to be mentioned when
(27:21):
shadow comes limping up the hilland that dumb boy is like shadow
and I'm just that dumb boy.
And Emily, I just looked overand EM'S also just weeping and
it's just like, why did we everytime and you know what's gonna
happen, you know it's gonna befine story also.
Fuck that movie.
Emotional cutting for childrenwith the horse.
(27:41):
I Can't with the HorseLabyrinth.
What else?
Oh yeah, that is a comfortingone.
I think like when I need comfortbesides, like I said, like it's
typically I'm like, I need towatch like a murder documentary.
I think I tend more to gotoward, I.
coming of age teenage shows.
(28:02):
So back to like my teenage yearsmaybe.
Because were you like a fullhouse all kind of person?
I did watch Full House, but I'mtalking like, I would go back
and rewatch, like I'verewatched, Buffy a ton, I've
rewatched Veronica Mars a lot.
yeah.
And those are like comfort to meand those, but those are
actually shows that I didn'teven watch when I was a
(28:23):
teenager.
I didn't actually start watchingthis until I was like early
twenties.
Same.
I wasn't allowed to watch Buffyat home, so I had to watch that
at college.
Like I missed out on all ofthese.
I wasn't allowed to watch any of'em.
And it was college that Ifinally saw everything that I
wanted to see.
I liked, I like stupid boymovies, like stupid teenage boy
movies, like Super Troopers andWhite Chicks, and I just love
(28:47):
like falling asleep to themtricks.
Super troopers.
They're so stupid.
I don't know.
do you like, like Jim Carreymovies?
No.
Like good.
No, I can't do that.
Everyone loves those and I justcan't.
I guess I, him and Adam Sandler,I just, yeah, I couldn't really
get into Adam Sandler, however,I did like 51st dates with Adam
(29:13):
Sandler and Drew Barrymore.
Drew Barrymore.
Yeah.
I don't know why, because I alsodon't really like rom-coms.
I liked that one.
no.
But never Been Kissed was areally, like, that's also a fun
one to just have on and fallasleep too.
She's just so cute.
Trying to think like movies Iused to, I would know I'd always
(29:34):
fall asleep to like law order.
That is really good though.
Um, and also games, like cozygames, like obviously Stardew we
both love Star du Hello Kitty.
I Adventure.
Are you still playing that?
I did not get into it, dude.
Honestly, I barely played it.
(29:55):
oh, I'm sad for you.
I know, I'm sad for me too.
what was the other one?
what was it?
I forgot the name of it.
Did you?
The game.
Oh, are you the animal crossing?
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
Animal Crossing.
Basically like any little likefarming sim where we can just do
chores.
Mindlessly, Chopped down treesand break rocks.
And wear?
(30:16):
Wear the skin of the fallen, like suns of the forest.
Another cozy little game.
I, that actually is a cozy gameto me, but it's because of like
the memory that it holds.
Because the first time we sleep, you can crack bone chairs.
The first time we played thefirst game, it was like me and
(30:37):
all my little like group offriends.
We all played it.
And we don't ever all gettogether anymore.
And we're not all playing gameslike we saw talk and hang out,
but not as much.
And it was the Yeah.
Thumb, it was the surprise.
It was when I had hives that,uh, that Christmas.
Mm-hmm.
And we were all on Christmasbreak and so we all just played
(30:58):
like a shit ton of the forestand we like take care of each
other too.
We're like, oh, do you needwater?
Let me boil you some water.
You know what I mean?
we're like, I'll go chew somefish.
Okay.
I think here I made you thisarmor.
I made you this face mask withreal skin.
yeah.
No, you do.
You guys do.
I was like, and you were like, look here, just take the raccoon
head and make it in a puppet.
I was like, I do feel better.
(31:19):
Thank you.
So what I'm hearing is we needto play more sons of the forest.
Oh, I think so.
I think so Party animals is alsooh yeah.
I mean, you're, you're by proxybeating the shit outta
something.
Yeah.
It's very cathartic and cutelittle, there's nothing than
(31:39):
going, the Otter has a gun.
that's, it just makes me on theotter.
Yeah.
that one has definitely beenjust like relaxing.
And you zone out.
I wanna get into, I own it.
What is it?
Fields of mysteria, my mystery.
Moonstone Island is anotherreally good one.
Oh, play the shit outta thattoo.
Moonstone Island was reallygreat.
Love that one.
all I'm thinking is like addingall of these into show notes
(32:03):
later.
Fasm phobia.
You guys play a shit ton of fasmphobia.
Yeah, I guess that's another onethat's just like cozy for that
friend group because we have 700hours in it and we literally
have it down to a science, so weplay it, but we also just like,
because we have it down to ascience, like we can do it
(32:23):
blindfolded and like notlooking.
Trash Goblin.
Trash goblin.
Yeah.
Did you stick with that?
I didn't get that.
Yeah.
Oh, I played it for hours.
Oh, great.
And you can like, so I shouldget it.
Connect trash.
Oh yeah.
Connect trash to other trash tomake better trash.
I love this.
And you can, you can level upyour sponge and your filth.
(32:43):
Chisel.
It's just, I'm sure it's notcalled a filth.
Chisel, okay.
But it is.
And also it's just so stupid'cause you're sitting there
cleaning trash.
I know.
It's the best game.
And then you sell your trash andyou can decorate your room with
like trash.
You found.
I don't know.
it's.
(33:03):
Stupidly comforting.
I wonder what it means.
if I am wanting to rewatch ashow for kind of like comfort or
like coziness, that's from mychildhood versus that's from
when I was a teenager or likeearly twenties or something like
(33:24):
that.
Alright, well let's compare fromyour childhood Beauty and the
Beast, Aladdin.
So all fairytales, all leadingup to a happy ending and
everything is okay in the endversus the shows from your
childhood where Buffy is therewhere danger is ever present,
always lurking and she somehowmanages to escape it or
sometimes gets hurt and she isable to conquer it.
(33:47):
But there's always more, lots ofdrama.
Yeah.
and ups and downs.
There's not even really a happyending.
It's just dealing with shit andthe little happiness in between.
That's true.
There's, that's a question Ithink you and your therapist
should.
You're like, I don't know, Ithink you need to talk about
this with your therapist.
Well that's, I mean, it's a goodquestion though.
what does it say about you?
Yeah.
When it's this versus this.
(34:09):
Yeah, it's still like hope andovercoming murder.
Like it's still usually justmurder though.
So yeah, it's still six feetunder is good one.
Holy fuck.
That's such a good show.
Yeah.
Oh my God.
sometimes if I like, you know, like where you have to cry and
you can't or you're just like sofrustrated.
I, I'll go on YouTube and I'llwatch the end of the season
finale of six feet under whereshe's driving away.
(34:32):
Hey, we don't need to spoilpeople, you know?
Oh, fuck you.
If you haven't seen it.
It's been 30 years now.
Go fuck yourself pushingdaisies.
Okay, Nate dies.
Nate dies.
There you go.
I actually, pushing daisies isalso great.
I never saw pushing daisies, butI was always told to see it.
it's so cute.
So cute with Lee Pace.
And then, the little baker.
(34:52):
What was the Grim Reaper one?
dead Like me.
Dead Like Me.
That was another great one.
Dead Like me was really good.
I watched that A over and over.
I've watched that a lot.
Um, nice.
What else was there?
Trying to think.
Yeah, you're right.
It is all deaf.
What about comfort food?
We haven't talked about food.
There is a very specific.
(35:14):
Wafer cookie.
It is Sonya.
A very thin wafer, like a verythin wafer that has been rolled
while it's still warm.
And so it's so light and sodelicate and very crispy and it
just like shatters in yourmouth.
And it's sugary too.
So it's just like crispy, crunchy, sugary, and it's the
(35:34):
best texture ever.
And I eat those by the pack whenI'm sad.
Same thing with Oreos.
Just like the crunchy and thecreamy.
And the crispy and the, yeah, the crispy, crunchy peanut
buttery.
That's just, I, it's gotta hitthe sweet and the crunchy and
the texture.
if I need to feel better.
That was the most autistic thingI've ever said.
I just realized I don't say themost.
(35:55):
Okay, that's true.
Like mac and cheese.
Like pasta or like mac andcheese specifically?
Yeah.
Potato or mashed potato.
I literally, Ordered mashedpotato and like some vegetables
or something too.
But I ordered, I was likecraving mashed potatoes, so I
ordered mashed potatoes from arestaurant this week because I
was like, sounds so good.
(36:16):
It was so good.
Yes.
Oh, I love that.
Yeah.
Very comforting.
Fresh bagels.
Like not toasted, just like warmand like fresh and warm.
And then you just dip in thecream.
Cheese.
Cheese, actually, period.
I love a good salt cause theyused to steal those for 25 cents
(36:36):
per bagel.
When I was in middle school atour school, they would bring in
bags and bags of fresh bagelsand it was always, salt or
cinnamon raisin.
And not a lot of places havesalt bagels to this day.
I do you have, you had likesalt, sea salt and rosemary?
Or is it just plain salt?
Just plain salt.
Was it?
(36:57):
That's so good.
I love salt bagels.
I'm all about it.
I'm all about it.
Yeah.
Fresh bagels, fresh bread, carbs, Cher, mac and cheese
specifically.
Is it?
That one's so good.
Cher The one that we like?
Oh, the one?
what's the one?
The black box.
Box?
(37:17):
Yeah.
With the pen.
That's features.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Features.
Oh, pizza.
Pizza Hut.
Any like Pizza Hut?
Just pizza dude.
Pizza Hut.
I'm sorry, but pizza.
Just gimme a pizza.
And that's comfort right there.
Even if it's bad, it's stillpizza.
Like I love French bread pizza.
(37:38):
Yeah, I love it.
I have like really weird, likevery specific things that I may
have even talked about on thispodcast, I'm sure I told you,
but it's like stuff my mom wouldmake me when I was like sick or
if I was like, yeah, or if I washome like with cramps and
couldn't go to school orsomething.
(37:58):
wait, can I see if I rememberit?
Because I wanna show that Ithere's two things.
I'm about to talk about a soup, but there is a sandwich.
Okay.
Okay.
I'll let you do the sandwich.
Okay, I wanna see if I rememberit.
Okay.
Because I made a mental note totry it.
It's fried bread, Swiss cheesemayonnaise.
(38:21):
I added pickles in my head.
I don't know if you had pickles.
I'm pretty sure there werepickles.
Is that it?
There's not usually pickles, butI do add pickles'cause I love
pickles.
Okay, good.
Okay.
Did I leave something out?
Romaine lettuce.
Oh fuck, sorry, I forgot theromaine.
Okay.
But that one I have on my to eatlist.
You make it sound good.
(38:41):
You told me that twice now whenit sounds delicious.
Oh yeah.
Like it is, it's just it's sosimple and stupid, but it's just
like a comfort.
That one is what my mom wouldalways make me.
'cause I would go back forChristmas, like every year when
I like had moved outta the houseand she would make that sandwich
(39:01):
for me and cut it in half andput it in a little baggie and
bring it to me at the airportbecause she'd be like, oh, you
are always so hungry that yougot off the plane.
And like, so it was very sweet.
but when I was like home sickwhen I was younger, it was
lentil soup, but with boiledwith ramen noodles, not the
(39:23):
packet.
You just put the noodles, throwaway the package, put the
noodles in there, and it wouldbe lentil soup with ramen
noodles and a banana smoothie.
I don't know why, but like tothis day, that's like very
comforting and very, like mychildhood, is it lentil soup
(39:44):
from a can?
Most times it would be like, okay, Progresso.
Got it.
Okay.
But sometimes it would be likehomemade.
Yeah.
I like the addition of ramennoodles.
It's interesting.
I think it's very good now Ikind of want that and a
sandwich.
(40:05):
So hungry.
I'm too, I'm really actuallytalking about it.
Oh, cheddar cheese and socheddar cheese.
Apple sliced into thin slices, crunchy peanut butter and
cheddar cheese to little cheddarcheese altogether.
And you eat them all togetherlike a bite?
Yes.
I fucking love peanut butter andcheese.
(40:26):
I've done that.
I've never done that.
I do like apples and cheese andapples and peanut butter all the
time.
Mm-hmm.
Butter.
I also never get crunchy peanutbutter.
It's the, again, it's a texturething.
Yeah.
And then you get that littletangy salt from the cheese and
it's just perfect'cause it'sjust creamy and creamy with a
peanut butter.
Yeah.
Oh my God, it's so good.
(40:48):
That's my favorite.
There's a salad Because I haveone, there's a salad my mom
would make.
'cause we were all likevegetarian, so she'd make this
giant ass salad for likeholidays so that'cause we could
have, we'd have sides, forholidays.
But then she wanted us to have alittle more, so she'd make a
huge salad.
And again, probably talked aboutthis, but it was like spring mix
(41:09):
slash like spinach and then redgrapes cut in half mandarin
oranges.
Okay.
and chow meine crunchy noodleswith a raspberry vinegarette.
Fucking chow Meine noodles arethe best.
Oh my God.
Every time I go there's a saladbar with those.
(41:31):
They're so good.
Tell me, it wasn't a Midwesternsalad.
no.
No mayo.
It was, so that sounds, thatsounds delicious.
Yeah.
What was yours?
my grandma.
My grandma takes NestleTollhouse cookie dough.
And bakes it to within an inchof its life.
(41:52):
They are dirt color brown.
They are crunchy.
There is not one speck ofmoisture left.
And they crumble like nobodyelse.
And I, for some reason fuckinglove them.
She's always made them.
And that's just how cookies areapparently in my head.
And Aw.
I just, they're terrible, butthey're so good.
(42:15):
'cause that's what I grew upwith.
But you know, objectivelythey're awful.
Yeah my mom would probably behorrified that you were like, is
there something that like yourmom would make?
'cause like my mom cooked likereally great stuff, like all the
time.
I'm sure like she was alwayscooking meals for us, but it's
just like the things that stuckout to me, I'm like a sandwich,
(42:35):
canned soup and ramen and asalad.
Like she would be like, wow,it's okay.
Oscar Meyer cheese filled hotdogwrapped in crescent roll dough.
Dude, I used to like, when I atemeat, those cheese filled hotdog
were the jam.
Yep, yep.
They were so good.
And also just like you're alittle kid, get some tater tots
(42:57):
and some steamed broccoli orpeas that don't have butter or
salt on them and that's like theperfect little comforting meal.
Not that I would like ever getthem anywhere because nobody
ever had these hardly but oncein a while.
The smiley face fries.
Yeah.
I think you could just buy'em atthe grocery store, I'm sure.
(43:19):
But Yes.
It's like they have like littlefried potatoes with mashed
potatoes inside and Yes, they'rethe best.
They're so good.
They're so good.
Yeah.
I love just like little kid andppe, honestly.
PB and J, the Uncrustables likelittle kid Food is my comfort
food.
Hands down.
Yeah, I just, same cereal witheven Captain Crunch.
(43:41):
Oh yeah, that's another big one.
Just cereal with milk, I think.
I think I burnt myself out onCaptain Crunch'cause I was going
hard on Captain Crunch like thislast month.
Yeah.
You, there was one day like youjust, hi it and you were like
Captain Garage, like you wereexcited to find that box.
(44:02):
Yeah.
So yeah, I just did that withCoco Krispies.
I was so excited to see them andnow I'm like, I don't ever wanna
look at the boxes again.
I like Fruity Pebbles.
Fruity comes with, I can't dolike chocolate cereal.
What about music?
Comfort music?
Mine is like all nineties Altrock.
That's it.
(44:23):
That's my comfort music.
Mine is the Interstellarsoundtrack.
Oh, that's a great soundtrack.
So I thought you were just gonnasay show tunes Broadway Hips.
I do.
Well, no, I do love those.
I do love those.
ride the Cyclone has been a goodone recently.
Les Mis is one fan of the opera.
(44:44):
Very one.
So depressing, but socomforting.
Oh.
or like, you know, when theyread or when they redo songs for
trailers, like just like anormal rock song, but then they
put it like in a huge orchestralmm-hmm.
Version with Tiffany.
Have you heard Lady Gaga doHeavy Metal?
(45:04):
Did you hear her perform withMetallica?
Yes.
I just, it's like she was bornfor it.
I just heard that like a monthor so ago for the first time.
And I'm like, why is she notalways doing heavy metal?
she was trained as a operasinger, so like she's got that.
(45:26):
I mean, she can do anything.
She's got the range for sure.
Yeah.
That's great okay, well Jamie, thanks for doing Cozy Day with
