Speaker 1 (00:02):
You're listening to
the Catholic Pursuit of
Excellence, the show that helpsyou accomplish more, stress less
and become the saint Godcreated you to be.
I'm your host, life and healthcoach, jessica Castillo, and
this is our special series forCatholic entrepreneurs.
So far in this series, we havetalked about why we're doing
(00:22):
this series and why it mattersso much.
We've outlined the Manifestofor Thriving Catholic
Entrepreneurs.
This is the statement of whatwe believe and what we are
striving for and then, in thethird episode in this series,
I've outlined the 18 steps forthe step-by-step process, for
what actions you can take as aCatholic entrepreneur to pretty
(00:47):
much guarantee that you areburnout proof.
So if you have not alreadylistened to the first three
episodes in this series, Ihighly recommend that you go
back and listen to thoseepisodes first, before you
listen to today's episode, and, while you're at it, go ahead and
get a copy of the ThrivingCatholic Entrepreneurs Roadmap.
(01:12):
This is the free printableresource that goes along with
this podcast series, and you'llsee written out everything that
we've talked about so far in theseries.
It is just really handy to havethis to refer back to as a
guide so you can get it at athrivingcatholiccom forward
slash roadmap.
Okay, so that brings us up todate for today's episode, which
(01:39):
I am going to call the formula, because at this point, you know
the steps to becoming a thriving, burnout-proof Catholic
entrepreneur.
But now what?
What do you do now?
Because it's one thing to knowwhat you quote-unquote should be
doing and in roughly what order, but it's another thing
(02:02):
entirely to actually apply theseprinciples to your life.
So the question is how do youtake action on what you've
learned so far in this series sothat you can radically
transform the way that youapproach not just your business,
but your whole life?
But your whole life.
(02:23):
How can the thriving Catholicentrepreneur manifesto become
your own battle cry?
And what it really comes downto is having a system in place
that makes it easy for you todevelop these high impact habits
of body, mind and soul.
These are the habits that aregoing to enable you to be at
(02:46):
your best, and when the systemand these habits are in place,
this is what's going to help youachieve that kind of lasting
success that really matters toyou.
So what is this success?
What is it that really matters?
Well, I would say, for manyCatholic entrepreneurs, this is
a mission-driven business.
(03:07):
This is a business that answersa much higher calling than just
to make some money.
This success, this lastingsuccess, is close and loving
relationships, which I've doneepisodes before about the
importance of these strongrelationships.
At the end of your life, youare not going to care how much
(03:31):
money you made if you sabotagedyour relationship with your
spouse and with your kids or younever had time for friendships.
But, most importantly, thelasting success that we are
talking about and that we arestriving for is an ever deeper
relationship with God, because, like I told you in the manifesto
, anything less than holiness isfailure, because, at the end of
(03:54):
the day, either you are a saintor you are damned.
Yeah, sure, you might have apit stop in purgatory, but if
you are not aiming for heaven, the chances of you even ending
up in purgatory are really notthat great.
So what do we do?
How can we actually put all ofthis together and make sure that
(04:17):
we are really striving for thiskind of success, the success
that is really lasting, that'sreally important and that we all
really want as thrivingCatholic entrepreneurs?
Well, I propose that there's aformula that we can follow that
will actually help us put all ofthis into practice and that
(04:40):
formula is high impactstrategies and tactics.
Some of them I outlined for youin the step-by-step process we
talked about in last episode.
So take these high impactstrategies and tactics plus
science-backed habit formationtechniques.
It is not rocket science, butit is science like how you form
(05:04):
habits and how you couldactually do the things that you
know are good for you.
Take these strategies andtactics plus science-backed
habit formation techniques, plusauthentically Catholic mindset
coaching, because what tripsmost of us up is literally the
(05:25):
space between our two ears.
It is the thoughts we'retelling ourselves, it is our own
mindset and for any of you whohave worked with a coach before,
you know that the reason whycoaching is so valuable is
because a lot of times, it canhelp you get out of your own way
or identify these limitingthoughts and beliefs that are
(05:46):
holding you back from taking theaction that you know is what
you need to take to move you tothe next level.
So I propose that when we takethese very targeted, high-impact
strategies and tactics that areproven to make a difference and
this is strategies of both body, mind, soul all of these
(06:09):
strategies, because we know thatthere are certain practices of
productivity that are going toreally change the way you get
stuff done.
We know that there are certainstrategies of how you care for
your body that have a muchbigger impact than others, right
, so we want to focus.
(06:30):
What are those high impactthings?
We know from reading thewritings of the doctors of the
church that there are particularprayer practices that are
especially helpful for helpingus grow in union with God and in
our spiritual life.
So there are high impactstrategies and tactics and you
(06:51):
know we see this all the time.
If you look out into thesecular world and you look into
high performance coaching, whatyou'll see all the time are high
performance coaches that aretaking these principles of
leadership, of productivity andeven practices of health and
wellness and applying them intheir high performance coaching.
(07:15):
For what?
For a secular vision that isthe bottom line is the most
important thing?
Or maybe having a lifestylebusiness where you get to have a
yacht or live whatever kind oflifestyle you want, and I'm not
saying that there's anythingwrong with making money and
there's nothing wrong withhaving a yacht if that's what's
(07:37):
God's plan for you.
What I am saying is, asCatholic entrepreneurs, our
businesses are about more thanthat.
Our businesses are about makingthe kind of impact and the kind
of difference in the world thatGod has called us to make, and
so all that other stuff issecondary.
(07:58):
But the reason I bring this upis, if secular high performance
coaches can draw so heavily onthis stuff, where being at your
best, performing at your peak,is so important, why should
Catholic entrepreneurs not bedoing the same thing, and more
(08:19):
and even better?
Because we know that theultimate power in the universe,
god Almighty, will be with us,helping us to perform even
better if we draw on that sourceof strength as well, which is
waiting for us.
It's there for us.
It is our heritage and ourprivilege as children of God to
(08:45):
call on our Father to give usthat grace and that strength.
So if the secular world can usethese strategies, why should we
not appropriate them forourselves and use them as well
in a Christ-centered way?
And I just I know that, asCatholics start to embrace these
(09:06):
kind of habits, that it reallywill make an impact and it will
have this huge ripple effect inthe world.
So high impact strategies andtactics.
Take these strategies, takethese tactics, combine them with
(09:30):
the science of how we formhabits.
In recent years, so many booksabout habit formation the Power
of a Habit, charles Duhigg, atomic Habits by James Clear,
like all of these habitformation books have become so
popular for a reason becausepeople want to form habits.
People know that once you formthe habit, the habit eventually
(09:54):
forms you right.
This is what helps you to besuccessful.
It's not what you do every nowand again, it's what you do
habitually and again.
This is what we might callvirtue Growth, and virtue isn't
like an occasional, every nowand again thing.
This is something that youconsistently apply effort to and
(10:14):
that you're consistentlyimproving in.
But there's a science to itbecause our brains work in a
very scientifically verifiableway.
So when we take what we knowabout how we can actually form
these habits easily andsuccessfully and sustainably,
(10:37):
then we're going to betwo-thirds of the way there.
Because, like I said, there'sone other component of the
formula and that is mindsetcoaching.
Now, there's a lot of mindsetcoaching out there that is not
authentically Catholic and it isvery much focused on an ungodly
(10:59):
self-reliance, or you know, just think and grow rich, or all
of these really secularversions of mindset coaching
that maybe the end result isthat you develop the habits that
you wanted to develop, butmaybe the way that you're going
about it isn't bringing youcloser to Christ.
(11:20):
Instead, it's causing you torely even more on yourself, and
that is really a recipe forfailure because, again, like we
talked about in the very firstepisode in this series,
everything does not rely on you.
And when you start thinkingthat it does, everything does
not rely on you.
And when you start thinkingthat it does, you are building
your house on sand.
You are not building on therock of Jesus Christ and his
(11:44):
truth.
So I propose that when you haveauthentically Catholic mindset
coaching that approaches thehuman person as how we
understand the human person tobe created in the image and
likeness of God, this is acorrect understanding of human
(12:05):
anthropology.
This is just the right viewingof reality.
Honestly, this is the closestaligned vision to reality, and
the more in alignment we arewith reality, the better things
go.
So high impact strategies andtactics plus science-backed
(12:27):
habit formation techniques plusauthentically Catholic mindset
coaching equals thriving.
This is how you become athriving Catholic entrepreneur.
This is the formula that willtake you from burned out,
stretched thin and feeling asthough you are struggling to
(12:48):
make any progress to rapidlybecoming the kind of person who
can excel in every challenge youface.
And this is exactly the systemthat I teach mission-driven
Catholic entrepreneurs like youin my group coaching program,
the Catholic Path to Excellence.
(13:09):
This is a high-performancegroup coaching program like you
have never experienced before, and that's because we focus on
improving every aspect of thehuman person, from your physical
health, your mindset and yourproductivity and, most
importantly, your soul and yourgrowth and holiness, and we're
(13:31):
doing all of this in anauthentically Catholic way.
Every month we focus intentlyon another aspect of excellence
in body, mind and soul.
So every month there's thatfocus.
It is, like I said,cohort-based, so you will be
going through it with your peersand growing together, which
(13:53):
I've found to be extremelyhelpful for me.
So it's almost kind of like amastermind for growth and
excellence.
That's what the Catholic pathto excellence is all about.
So all of the habits and stepsand process that you have seen,
that I've talked about in the 18steps to becoming burnout proof
(14:14):
, you might have even some ofthose steps you've been like
okay, well, what do I actuallydo to optimize my gut health?
Okay, what foods am I actuallygoing to eat that are going to
nourish me and help me performat my best.
Okay, how do I actually dothese productivity principles?
Or incorporate these prayerpractices principles or
(14:37):
incorporate these prayerpractices?
That is what I will be teachingyou how to do in depth, and
you'll be doing it with otherCatholic entrepreneurs.
Everyone is striving together.
It is a really powerfulexperience, so I would love to
invite you to join me in mygroup coaching program, the
Catholic Path to Excellence.
