Jason (00:15):
The Hello and welcome to
the Chicane Podcast, where we
discuss all things in the simracing world.
(00:37):
I'm your host, jason Rivera, and I'm joined here by Mr Eric
Kelly and Jeff Smart.
How is everybody doing today?
Erick (00:45):
Doing pretty good, man.
This week was a little rough, alot of piling out here.
I'm fighting them off, though,man.
I'm fighting the good fight, sotrying to keep things together,
doing a little racing too, butI'll talk about that in a little
bit though.
Jason (00:57):
All right, what about you
, jeff?
Jeff (00:59):
Dude, we've been busy here
, A little bit of racing.
Uh went out and some peoplewould call it fishing, but uh,
we went out and rinsed the luresoff, went for a boat ride.
Uh, yeah, this was good week.
Good week, you know, shot, shotsome content for the.
Uh, my, the other channel I goton youtube.
Jason (01:16):
So uh, yeah, it was great
week all in all smart living
guys, keep that, keep that inyour brains.
He's got some good stuff outthere.
Actually he's got.
I saw that latest video thatyou that you put out about the
secrets of of the island.
Jeff (01:29):
I thought that was kind of
cool man yeah, it's just a lot
of winds going around so it wasa little dangerous taking the
family out of the boat, so wehad to call an audible.
So it was a good day stillstill an adventure, and that's
absolutely that's what yourchannel's about.
Jason (01:41):
So check him out, guys.
Guys, show him some love, asmart living.
I know Eric Kelly has his owntech channel and there's
something new cooking up, butwhen the time is right and he'll
let me know, then we'll revealthat here on the show.
Yes, sir, but let's get rightinto announcements.
I'm going to go last because Ihave quite a bit and it's great
(02:02):
news and I can't wait to share.
But we'll start with Eric.
Erick (02:06):
All right man, so my
announcements are racing-related
, of course.
Been making progress, beenspending more time in iRacing.
I've been taking everybody'sadvice People have been telling
me hey, get off the GT7.
Oh no, I'm not iRacing, we gotthem.
They've been giving me a littlenudge in the racing league.
(02:28):
I'm trying to make my way upand right now I have an asterisk
on it.
But I have met all therequirements for my C license
for sports cars.
Right now I'm trying to work onthe Fast Track so my SR rating
is enough for, at the season end, to be promoted.
But I'm trying to do the fasttrack because I got to get in
GRL and I got to race my M2 andtry to get in that Porsche man.
Jeff (02:52):
You couldn't have done
that like two weeks ago and got
it in at the season last season?
Erick (02:58):
Bro, look.
So the thing is they changedthe requirements, which to me
makes like I'm fine with that.
They increase the requirementsfor driving the m2 and also
increase the.
Well, I think the requirementsfor the porsche are the same,
but for the m2 you have to havea c license and it's a faster
car yeah, it requires morefinesse um it's definitely not a
(03:19):
rookie car.
They call it a rookie car, butthat car is a handful, even for
pros, you know yeah, it'sdefinitely, um, because, like I
said, for me the Porsche iseasier to drive than that M2.
But yeah, that's my journey.
I'm looking to be out therenext week in the M2.
We're doing Suzuka next week.
Jason (03:40):
I have to double check
that.
I know we're doing Suzuka onthe F1 schedule.
Yeah, I think it.
Jeff (03:47):
You guys say it follows
what's in the open races, right,
the following week.
Is that what it was, if Iremember correctly?
So there's a lot of Suzuka outthere on the officials.
Jason (03:57):
Lime Rock is where we
will be next week.
Erick (04:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, Lime Rock
yeah.
Jeff (04:02):
That's chaos out there.
Cars all over the place.
Erick (04:05):
Lime Rock.
I got my last time trial NPR onLime Rock.
Okay, so you're familiar.
Jason (04:14):
You know where you're
getting yourself into.
Yeah, and I really I tried toget him in this week because I
was like man, you just got yourfirst podium.
It's a track, you know well,it's the same car.
Erick (04:24):
Yeah.
But I mean, hey, I just missedit because I was talking to Vlad
and he was like, yeah, I didthe time trial thing as well
just to get the NPR, but thetime trial was kind of tricky to
figure out.
And I was telling Vlad I kindof was being stubborn, I should
have hit him or you up and askedyou like, hey, what's the deal
(04:45):
with the time trial?
Because it's not very clearwhere to go no.
And how it works.
Jason (04:50):
Honestly, I've never done
one, I just, I don't know.
Erick (04:54):
So, guys, I'm an expert
on time trials and iRacing now,
so if you try it, bring on thequestions.
Jason (05:00):
Yeah, let me know.
Drop them in the comments oremail the show at
thechicanepodcastgmailcom.
So that sounds like a greatweek.
Let's check with Jeff what yougot for us for announcements,
man.
Jeff (05:12):
Yeah, not doing a whole
lot of racing.
I did a couple ovals IndyCarstyle.
I forget the track I think itwas actually Daytona which is a
totally different driving.
So I'm almost out of rookiesfor oval.
But I've really started, jason.
You know, I have like I'vestarted to build like almost
like the fuselage or cockpit forthe formula car and I really
(05:36):
started to put some more effortinto that, bringing up the sides
a little bit and some like Idon't know what you'd call it
the top of the car.
So you actually kind of feellike you're sitting in more of a
cockpit, kind of similar topeople that put the nets on the
side for the GT3 cars.
It's kind of like theequivalent, but for formula or
(05:59):
open wheels You're just sittingthere and you kind of just feel
a little bit more immersed, ifyou will.
You know, you see your cockpitand try, I try to line it up
where it comes off of the screeninto into the uh little walls
that I've built up, um, but yeah, it's just super cool.
So I've just and it's supercheap, I just go get some cheap
cardboard or not cardboard, excuse me um like one-eighth
(06:22):
plywood, um, and some like onebuys and mounted to the, you
know the 8020 rig, and then Ijust wrap it in a little carbon
fiber wrap that I get off amazonfor a couple bucks and, um, I
like it.
I think it looks super cool.
It's coming along.
Um, we're almost there.
We're almost there.
We'll share some pictures.
Not, I don't like sharing myhalf-assed work yet, so you guys
(06:44):
will see it when it's done.
Jason (06:46):
No, of course man, that
sounds awesome.
Man, that's the way to go.
Man, that's the way to go.
Erick (06:54):
I love it.
Got me thinking man.
Jason (06:58):
Yeah, he's the man with
all the ideas.
Man, sometimes he come up withstuff all the time.
All right, gents, I am pullingup some info in the background,
and I was successful.
So, first things first, Vladand Neil.
(07:18):
They got it.
They got it today, bro, theygot it today.
I finished in front of both ofthem today and I was excited.
Oh yeah, we had 51 cars on trackand I think I placed P7.
So amongst them, I don't wantto listen, I don't want to mess
around with the bells andwhistles of the GRL because
(07:40):
they're saying oh, you should bea pro.
Now I'm like no, I don't, Idon't.
Jeff (07:44):
Sandbagger.
Erick (07:47):
You can only fly with
your radar for so long man.
Jeff (07:49):
Yeah, mike and Neil are
going to have to make a podcast
just to you know.
Publicly claim it when theybeat you now.
Jason (07:58):
Eric was on my stream and
there was a guy saying,
depending on how this goes, wemight hear about it on the show
next week, and I was like yeah, that was awesome, yeah, so
that's good.
Speaking of GRL, if you guyshaven't signed up yet, of course
I'll leave the links again, butI must share some news.
That's the pipeline and it'sthis guy.
(08:24):
We are having at least my firsttime with GRL is a three-hour
multi-class at Sebring and we'regoing to have MX-5s, bmws and
Porsches on the same track DangFor three hours, huh so this is
some motivation for Eric Kelly, the tech track.
Dang.
(08:44):
So this is some motivation, motivation for Eric Kelly, the
tech gentleman, I'll be there, man, yeah.
Erick (08:50):
I'll be there.
Jason (08:51):
So I mean it's got to be
a drivers of two right now.
So we'll definitely figure thatout.
I think Mike and I are going torun into Porsche.
Erick (09:02):
I have to recruit or get
recruited.
Jason (09:05):
We'll definitely find
somebody for you in that BMW
Cause.
I think you, I think you'reliking the Beamer, so it's going
to be crazy, it's going to bewild.
That'd be super cool.
1.5 hour each, maybe.
Erick (09:17):
Um man, it's going to be,
it's going to be crazy.
Jason (09:20):
On the 27th at 11 AM.
That's where it hurts, Jeff.
That's about 6 am for us.
Jeff (09:26):
Yeah, that's early.
Jason (09:29):
So I told Mike, I was
like Mike, you take the first
stint, I'll wake up, make somecoffee, text me, text me when
I'm 30 minutes out 30 minutes in.
Just do one of those scheduledtexts and just wake me up.
The only thing I'm worriedabout right is screwing the race
up for him, for whatever reason.
(09:49):
If I go last, if I go first,it's the same feeling.
I don't want to screw anythingup.
Erick (09:55):
Yeah, that's pressure,
man, especially an hour and a
half, that's a long, that's along time, man.
Jeff (10:01):
That's a long time.
Or if mike happens to make amistake.
Just he's like taxi, just sleepin yeah, just don't.
Jason (10:08):
Yeah, I wake up and I see
the car in the pits.
I'm like, oh wait, like I don'tknow we'll see mike would never
do that.
Jeff (10:17):
He is a consummate
professional.
Jason (10:19):
Oh yeah, there you go,
there you go, and mike's been
doing some training too, whichis awesome.
Um, yeah, I don't want to stealhis thunder, I'll let him.
I'll let him put that out whenhe's ready.
There you go.
There you go, and Mike's beendoing some training too, which
is awesome.
I don't want to steal histhunder.
I'll let him put that out whenhe's ready.
But there goes Vlad's car andI'm not sure of the other two.
Sorry, but on to the nextannouncement.
That's dope.
(10:40):
The dope, liveries, the dopeliveries.
Now, as you guys probably, there's some news being cooked
up right now about a sim racingexpo happening in the United
States of America, the first ofits kind.
The first time and I'm proud tosay here on the show live is
(11:01):
that the chicane podcast hasbeen invited to be part of this
historical event.
It's got to be historical.
That's going down in chicago.
Let me share the flyer to thatso you can see also the cool
graphics there.
I see eric, I see you bro.
Erick (11:19):
yes sir pipe man I am
super excited for this, that's
clean.
Jason (11:25):
September 5th through the

the owner, is coming on to theChicane podcast to have a
discussion on what's in detail,on what's going on at this
convention center in Chicago.
They even got a map andeverything.
(11:46):
But I'm going to read out toyou guys real quick Um, a list
of creators that confirmedrecently and they're still
confirming left and right.
They're still like it's in theworks right now.
Um, because we got throughseptember, but so far we're
(12:07):
gonna have simcraft, hsw, simworks, gsi, simicube,
hughsonville, I racing's loungepodcast is going to be there
into the apex podcast is thechicane podcast will be there
because we're we're not worriedabout these other two podcasts.
I mean, I'm telling you rightnow, I'm just saying there's
only one there's only onepodcast, especially here in the
(12:31):
united states, is that's that wehave the crown for that one um
40 racewear, asher racing.
And I'm a little nervous aboutthat one because I kind of you
you know me, me and Asher kindof went uh, we had our, we had
our differences for a minute, but the wheel turned out the
wheel.
That's not on the wall that Imessed up.
(12:51):
That's right.
There is actually plugged intothe rig.
I'm sorry about that.
Um and uh, gtr simulator simlab, which I'm a huge huge sim
lab yes, yeah, huge sim lab.
(13:11):
Yes, yeah, impact sim sport.
Hyperion racing pxn uh, throughgtr simulator.
Those are the confirmed rightnow.
At this, at this moment in time, things could change, right,
that's like five months out fivemonths and we have, I mean,
semi-cube with semi-cube, gsi.
That's already half the market.
I want to say Of the high endof the high ends, right, we're
trying to get I'm pretty surethey're trying to get possibly
(13:33):
SimMagic, I don't know, I hopethat would be awesome for Eric.
Come on, simmagic.
But just real quick, I'm goingto go over one more screen and
then we'll get into our maindiscussion.
So I have this open in the taband here is the website,
simgamingexpocom Very easy tofollow, right To remember.
Jeff (13:58):
That's clean.
It is clean, bro.
I was about to say the samething it is clean, bro.
Jason (14:03):
I was about to say the
same thing, so we're going to
click on exhibitors andAlexander's PC Corsair, which I
failed to mention, gsi Hosenveld.
I guess I could have shown youthis?
Jeff (14:13):
It's wild man.
Jason (14:13):
I could have showed you
this.
Let me see the ones we didn'tgo over Impact Simsport.
There's the iRacers Lounge, which our icon and description
will be on this page in a week'stime, or probably by the time
you guys are watching thisepisode, we'll be up here.
The Zine Studio is kind of cool.
(14:34):
And then our special guests.
We have Matt Malone, which is ahuge streamer, huge following
the Sin Pit Lawrence Dusoswa, which you guys know well.
And the man, huge following theSin Pit, lawrence Dusoswa,
which you guys know well.
And the man, the myth andlegend.
Jeff (14:50):
Look at that guy, I know
that guy.
Erick (14:52):
Look at this guy.
Send him the headshot.
Jason (14:54):
I'm telling you, man,
that's a wicker right there huh.
Yeah, man With the bouquet andthe suit and everything.
I see you, Mikey.
Erick (15:02):
Clean.
He flexed on him 100,000subscribers.
Jason (15:05):
Give him a shout out.
Sim Racing, den is growing.
Jeff (15:08):
I'll tip my cap to that
buddy.
That's impressive.
Good for you, Congratulations.
Quality, quality product.
Jason (15:14):
Yes, Quality over
quantity always.
And when he gets that YouTubesign, I told him.
I'm going to 3D print you astand bro, Carbon fiber Free of
charge.
I might give it to him inChicago because he's going to
have 150 by then.
Jeff (15:31):
Come on.
Jason (15:33):
The SimRacing, then, will
be hanging out with the Chicane
Podcast throughout theSimRacing Expo.
We have cameras, we havemicrophones.
We're going to be vlogging thisevent.
We're going to cover the entirethree days.
I can't wait.
I mean, I'm shaking and it's.
We got months for this, youknow yeah.
Jeff (15:55):
But yeah, I just looked
there.
F1 will be in Italy too, sowe'll have that to watch.
There you go After the show'sover, we can get up with fellow
other people that are passionateabout racing and watch that too
.
It's going to be a heck of aweek, man.
Jason (16:07):
Look at the traction on
this.
Erick (16:08):
Yeah, it's going to be
dope man.
Jason (16:10):
Look at the event map as
it is today and it's probably
not updated, because, oh, canyou guys see the floor map?
No wait, let me switch gears.
Erick (16:23):
And then what you were
saying earlier that that
facility can host up to 5,000people 5,000 people.
Yeah.
Jason (16:30):
And with that, that's a
great.
You know what that's a great.
I'm glad that you brought thatup, but I will announce that
here in a second.
I don't know how to put this toyou.
I'm so excited, dude, what agood place for Chicago.
Jeff (16:43):
Though it's a big airport
in the middle of the country,
Nobody's got to go all the wayacross the continent.
Erick (16:52):
Besides us schmucks out
here in Hawaii, you get decent
flights from almost anywhere,yeah.
Jason (16:58):
I think Mike said that
his flight is less than two
hours or something from Canada, which is easily, easily, easily
doable.
He can, he can attend everyyear.
It's, it's a great thing.
It's a great thing and, as youcan see, it's it's getting busy
there.
You see that they got a hugeesport area which they probably
(17:20):
have rigs there, motion rigs, which jeff is doing a hot sprint
all the way, Sign this guy up.
Jeff (17:29):
Oh yeah.
Jason (17:30):
I can't wait, man.
And speaking of signing up,right, let me just go back to my
screen.
The Chicane podcast has a 10%discount code.
It's in all caps, chicain10,and that'll get you 10% off if
(17:52):
you want to attend the show, theexpo, and it's a very
reasonable pricing.
I think it's like 80 US for allthree days.
I mean, that's easily doable,man, that'll give you Listen.
I wish I could pay somebody totest out the amount of gear
that's going to be at this place, right?
Jeff (18:12):
Listen, just don't buy
F125, and you're there.
Jason (18:15):
That's it.
That's the cost of a video game.
Basically, you're right there.
You go With our discount.
You're under the cost of avideo game for three full days
of fun, excitement, events.
You get to see us, you'll getto meet us.
We'll have goodies over there.
Of course, I have a littlesurprises up my sleeve, but yes,
(18:36):
it's, I think it's, yeah, theconvention is one thing.
Jeff (18:40):
The convention is one
thing, but just hanging around
with like-minded people that arepassionate about sim racing and
just motorsport in general isjust as worthwhile to spend the
money as it is just to go intothe convention itself, right.
Jason (18:56):
Correct and to have
everything in one place.
You can't beat it.
I know Can't beat it, I know,yeah, can't beat it.
So I will tell you all this if,whenever you guys, um, if you
guys decide to attend, do notwait and put your orders in and
get your flights, because as weget closer, I'm guaranteeing you
that prices will spike, um, androom will run out.
(19:20):
Or there's like a hotel thereat the convention, which is very
convenient.
Basically, you take an elevator, you're at the expo.
It's kind of cool.
So that's where the Chicanepodcast will be in September.
I can't wait.
Jeff (19:34):
Did you just say an after
party?
I could have sworn.
I heard you say that oh yeah,we got after parties, bro, Of
course that's definitely.
Jason (19:40):
We're going to make them
three days count, Jeff.
If we're going to fly out 12hours.
We're definitely going to makethat count.
Erick (19:47):
True that.
Jason (19:48):
Yeah.
Erick (19:50):
And so, for anybody who
has not been tracking or doesn't
know the history, I just wantto take a moment to say this Me
and Jason met playing Xbox in2011.
Jeff (20:02):
Oh wow, oh shit, I forgot
about this part, what you about
to say.
Erick (20:07):
We have been friends for
14 years and have never seen
each other in person.
This will be the first time wesee each other.
Jason (20:14):
I need to share a cigar
with my homie man.
I've been always talking aboutthat.
That's wild.
Erick (20:20):
Like.
The significance of this is.
I'm hyped man.
We're fully locked in, like thesignificance of this is I'm
hyped, man.
Jason (20:25):
I'm so hyped we're fully
locked in too, man, we're
purchased.
We got to make this happen.
We got to make it happen Wild.
Erick (20:34):
Wild yeah.
Jason (20:36):
That's crazy Eric.
I forgot about that.
I just never.
I've never seen you, bro, inthe flesh.
Yeah, that's one of the things, man.
Erick (20:45):
I was like we were
talking earlier about, you know,
booking the room and stuff, andlike just everything about this
event.
Because even when I first sawthat they were having it and I
saw Mike there, I was like, oh,I'm going like just because it's
the first one of his kind inthe US and Mike was there just
to support him.
But then you reached out.
You're like, hey, I got somenews for you.
(21:05):
I was like, oh, yeah, man, let's go.
This is meant to be let's go.
Jason (21:10):
Yes, yes, the owner,
george, reached out and at first
I was hesitant.
I was like, oh man, how are wegoing to get?
And I said you know what?
We're going to make this happen?
We're going to make it happenfor the community, because
that's what we're here for.
We're here for the sim racingcommunity and we're going to go
(21:30):
over there and we're going togive you the real facts.
You know straight.
No, chaser, we're definitelyputting hands on everything over
there no-transcript.
(22:10):
And it's just going to be coolto like meet people that you
know listen to us and you knoware like-minded about sim racing
and you know racing in general.
Correct, there's so many thingswith this right.
The significance of this hasmultiple levels of um.
It means a lot to me becauseit's it's a branch out of
something that we've never seenbefore.
None of us have ever seensomething like this and the
opportunity, you know, for it tobe the first one ever.
You know it's exciting, it'sexciting.
(22:31):
So with that, let's get intothe main discussion now.
Chicane 10, guys.
It will be in the description.
It will be announcedpermanently up until the event.
Okay, and let me know, send mean email, send me in, send us an
(22:52):
email or leave a comment andlet us know if you're attending.
You know, yeah, maybe we'llhave a rendezvous point up and
we'll just hang out for a littlebit.
Anyways, cool, yeah, man, Ipromised you guys winsims, so
the Winsim game hasn't reallychanged that much since the last
time we went shopping.
So I'm going to break this downfor you very, very simple.
(23:13):
With Winsims, you have fouroptions, is it four?
I'm going to say four for now.
I might eat my words.
But the first one is a high-endoption and a high-end option.
I'm looking at SRS Hurricane, which is what I'm running, and
it's not high-end because I'mrunning it, it's high-end
because the price is high-endand the stuff that it does right
(23:37):
.
And then there's anothercompany called Race Solutions,
which is a newer, newer product, which I will showcase here in a
second before, uh, beforegetting into the showcase, I
will show them.
Your third option is the budgetoption and that's etsy.
(23:57):
And your fourth option.
I bet you, I bet you guys can'tguess what the fourth option is
come on, let let's hear it.
Jeff (24:05):
Let me guess A number and
a letter.
A number.
Jason (24:09):
Yeah, yep, yes, you can
print your own.
You can print your own hardware.
You need a circuit board and acontroller and everything else
can be printed.
Tpu can be printed, it could beangled, it could be bent soft,
whatever, and you can save a tonof money and you can service it
.
That's the beauty of 3Dprinters you can service your
(24:29):
own stuff.
So let's get right into justreal quick and show you the
options that you have.
Everybody can see this, so.
So this is the cost.
(24:50):
Well, that's the pro, which Idon't really recommend having
three fans, honestly, but for$299, you get two fans and a set
of ducts which you can.
These look like the ducts on mywashing machine outside, bro.
Jeff (25:09):
Yeah, a dryer.
Jason (25:10):
A dryer, washing machine,
dryer you can make your own.
The beauty of this is that ithas its own software, which, at
the time when I purchased thisSimHub wasn't really taking
control of these, but that'sgone away.
So this IntelliBox, that theycall it, this, right here, this
(25:35):
guy, let me oh can you guys seethat?
Jeff (25:40):
Yeah, it is clean, it's
clean.
Erick (25:43):
Yeah, matchy, matchy.
Jason (25:45):
But I'll tell you now is
it worth it?
Jeff (25:46):
It better be for three
bills yeah.
Jason (25:49):
Is it worth it?
So SimHub controls all theeffects already for you.
I recommend getting SimHublicense if you haven't already.
We've talked about it.
Like almost every episode ismentioned at least once.
Erick (26:03):
Go get it.
Jason (26:03):
So that is the best $10
that you can spend.
I promise you that.
Yeah, hands down.
Especially, especially now, yeah, hands down especially
especially so this one, you knowthis did by using, by using sim
hub.
Then you know you can, you cancontrol like, you can enable
features like the draft feature, like if you're behind the car,
um, the fans will go low, andyou can.
(26:24):
You have a certain amount thatyou can control and then as soon
as you pull out, like you know, out in front of a card and the
wind hits you in the face, kindof simulating draft, then you
also have the wind direction iswhen you turn.
If you turn left, then you feelthe wind coming in from the
right.
If you turn right, then youfeel the wind coming from the
left.
I know the top shotter stilluses that.
(26:45):
I spoke to him the other dayand I think it was an episode
where Mike came on the show andI think he has this kit if I'm
not mistaken they're from Canadatoo, by the way and he's like,
yeah, when you first get it it'scool, but then I kind of use it
as an AC system and that's howit's used on my rig and it's
(27:07):
actually controlled by theignition of the car.
So if the ignition is off, thefans go off.
Erick (27:13):
Oh, that's cool.
Jason (27:14):
Yeah, as soon as you hit
the ignition on, then you can
tell the fan to idle and thenyou can control it by the speed
of the car however you want.
It's really awesome.
Simhub has a very goodalgorithm that automatically
calculates the car's top speed,so it'll automatically make the
(27:35):
win in stages for you, which isawesome, right.
Jeff (27:38):
God man, what did we do
before SimHub, or what?
Did you do before SimHub.
Erick (27:41):
I know I was going to say
I don't know.
Jason (27:46):
I don't know if any of
these things would be happening
without SimHub.
Honestly, bro.
Jeff (27:49):
I can't imagine the amount
of software that you'd have to
be running to individuallymanage all this stuff, and for
what?
Ten bucks?
Jason (27:57):
Ten bucks and that's a
lifetime license.
That's crazy.
Jeff (28:01):
I mean, if there's one
thing that you're gonna buy,
it's SimHub.
Jason (28:07):
Right, that should be
yours.
I mean, come on.
Erick (28:09):
So I'll say this when I
first got my rig, I bought a
license to SimHub and I wasstill racing on the PS5.
Jason (28:17):
You didn't even have a PC
.
Erick (28:18):
Yeah, I didn't have a PC.
I had it on my laptop and I wasjust looking at what you could
do I was like let me buy thelicense before he decides, hey,
I'm going to charge y'all whatthis actually is worth.
Jeff (28:31):
That's a great point.
Erick (28:32):
Because 10 bucks right
now, you feel kind of bad.
Jason (28:36):
All right.
So the next option yeah, goahead.
Go ahead, jeff.
Jeff (28:39):
No no, no, I'm digressing,
I'm going to go.
What I would pay for SimHub isexponentially more than what it
costs.
Jason (28:48):
Well, of course, you're
crazy, because you value it, you
understand its value, but whenyou first started sim racing.
You were like why am I paying$10 again?
You know what I mean.
Jeff (28:56):
A little bit For maybe an
afternoon.
I thought yeah.
Jason (29:02):
It don't take much.
Erick (29:03):
You're like, why do I?
Jason (29:04):
need this for.
But now it's kind of like ifSimHub is dead, the whole rig is
dead.
None of the lights work.
And, by the way, if you see myrig, there's some updated lights
there and those were custom 3Dprinted to make it cleaner.
One of them snapped on me.
So, anyways, the second optionand it's not because, okay, I
(29:30):
said high end and then kind ofmid-tier.
I'm not calling this mid-tier,I'm just saying it's geared to a
specific user and you guys aregoing to see why you see this
right here.
It kind of goes into it's kindof proprietary, so you would
need this, and it kind of looksdope as hell.
So that's your Looks superclean.
(29:52):
Yeah that's your steering wheel, that's your base right, and
then there's a hole right thereand it's like an AC vent.
You don't see anything but thevent, which is kind of cool.
Yeah, that's dope and the price.
Jeff (30:06):
What can it mount to?
Does it come with that?
It doesn't come with that.
Jason (30:13):
With that mount ddu mount
you mean the front plate,
that's yeah, that front plate.
Yeah, oh yeah, I'm pretty surethey sell it there.
Jeff (30:23):
It is right there, yeah so
I'm not giving my ignition
switch, but it's a cool ideait's an option is what I'm
saying and it's an option thatcould be a niche.
Jason (30:33):
It could be.
Some people use front mountedand some people don't right,
it's clean, though it is superclean.
It's clean and it's super short.
So that means that fan isprobably strong as hell, because
there's no duct in there, it'sjust a straight fan blowing in
your face.
There's no duct in there, it'sjust a straight fan blowing in
(30:55):
your face.
And the price I mean you knowabout what is it?
210 euro, probably plusshipping.
So it's kind of close, right.
Erick (31:12):
And then I'll do a quick
share of the many options which
I do not recommend this route.
So while you're pulling that up, just one question.
Jason (31:21):
How loud is the fan?
See, the ducks help, becausethe ducks kind of absorb most of
the noise.
If I was to just run themstraight then they'll be loud,
but because they have to gothrough the duct, you don't
really, it's almost like whitenoise.
You know it's almost like whitenoise.
(31:41):
Okay, you know being beingbeing.
Um, as long as you keep themclean right in the house, as
long as you keep them clean andthere's nothing rattling in
there, you know, like I mean, you got the car, you know
accelerating too.
Jeff (31:53):
That would cover it up, I
imagine a bit.
Jason (31:55):
Oh, you won't hear them.
Yeah, if you're worried aboutyour family hearing it, that's
what I meant.
But even at 10% volume on thisrig, I don't hear the fans no
more.
Just completely gone.
So I do have to be very.
I have to use some crazysoftware that uses AI to block
(32:15):
the noise gate on the fanshitting the mic when I'm
streaming, because they're on,trust me, and it's hot as hell
in there.
Erick (32:22):
Oh yeah, okay, so that's
cool yeah.
Jason (32:28):
So the last option is
just a quick search.
Erick (32:31):
There they are.
Jason (32:33):
And guess how these were
made.
I want you to take a wild guess.
If they're being sold on Etsy, hello.
So I mean, look at this.
Does that not look like PLAplastic?
Just right, there, I'm just.
I tell you now.
Jeff (32:51):
Call it what it is.
Jason (32:55):
So this is an option if
you don't want to purchase a 3d
printer.
However, if this is anotherbenefit of having a device that
can print things, because thenall you would need is the brains
of it, right, the circuit board.
So I'll let you guys be thejudge on what works for you,
because I don't want to getattacked by nobody by making you
(33:18):
spend money.
Because, you know, in therecent comments I'm like OK, man
, listen, there's things thatare work for people and there's
things that don't work forpeople.
And the Chicane podcast isaround an hour-ish, right, our
show.
If I was to break down theentire thing, we'll be here for
the entire hour and I need tokeep it clean, concise, simple,
(33:42):
so that way you can have yes,you can catch my drift, right,
jeff?
So you hear me loud and clear.
So that's my take on an updatedWinim, because we did go over
Winsims in the past and there'sreally nothing changing with
them.
There's no innovation happening, there's no new products coming
(34:02):
out that I can tell as ofrecent.
So is it worth it?
It depends.
If your house is hot as helland you don't have a fan above,
it's a lot cleaner to have somefan ducts come in at you than
having a last go fan justburning Rob.
Jeff (34:23):
Markman.
All right, let me ask you this,Jason and I know we're not
trying to go redo the windsimulator, but you have yours
just going as to cool you downDoes it provide any immersion of
when you accelerate and it goesfaster?
Because that's really what Iwould get it for.
Jason (34:41):
Yes.
Jeff (34:41):
I can't imagine the only
one.
Jason (34:43):
Yes, so, like I have it,
I have a setting right Because
there's no.
This is an example.
If you're talking immersion,I'm going to bring up trucks in,
so whenever I roll the windowsdown, the fan goes Stop.
Yeah, the fan gets louderbecause the windows are down,
but when I roll them up, I pressone button and it's a shortcut,
(35:05):
so it'll program it to back toa certain level and it feels
like I'm driving a truck becauseI have my hand on the wheel
like this and I feel the AC justhitting.
You know what I mean?
There's some immersion withthat.
Jeff (35:21):
Dude.
The next level would be whenyou close the door, it goes boom
because of the pressure changein the cabin or something.
Jason (35:27):
I know I haven't figured
that one out yet.
Erick (35:31):
So much man.
I haven't figured that one outyet.
Jason (35:33):
So much, man, but it does
.
You know the truck.
There's guys that are crazywith trucks and they actually
installed a key ignition whereyou put a key in, you put the
ACC on the switch and the fansstart blowing.
And when you start the enginethe fans actually turn off and
they turn back on just like aregular vehicle would Exactly
(35:54):
Rob.
Jeff (35:54):
Markman Jr.
That dude that we showed on thetext message group we have is
next.
I thought you were next levelthis dude Rob Markman, jr Rico
Trucker.
Jason (36:01):
Yeah, that dude Shout out
to Rico Trucker.
That's a lot of work, man.
Jeff (36:06):
Impressive dude,
impressive Rob Markman Jr.
I don't want to know what thewiring looks like back there,
bro.
Jason (36:12):
I don't want that's a
nightmare don't look back there
so, yeah, that's my topic fortoday.
Um, hopefully that answers thequestion and if it didn't, then
you know what to do.
Drop a comment, send us anemail if you have any specific
question.
I am happy.
The guys here are happy toanswer.
So definitely over to eric forthe next topic, which is an
(36:35):
exciting one.
Yes, because we know, we kindof know right you know, it's in
my blood yeah, what's going on,eric?
Erick (36:44):
so I I got a flip-flop a
little bit for my announcement,
talked about how I've been kindof neglecting gt7 for a bit.
Jason (36:51):
I know right, You're
going back on your word now, Mr
Kelly.
Erick (36:56):
I'm going back for
greatness.
You know.
I'm going back for a goodreason For justice, for justice.
Yes, so if you're used toracing on GT7 and on PC, on PC
you're familiar with a littleapp called Crew Chief and it's
invaluable.
As soon as you start a race, you come out the pits.
(37:17):
If you don't hear that firstcall from the chief, you stop
everything.
Okay, I got to get them working, because I'm out here blind.
One of the things that GT7lacks is some sort of engineer,
race engineer, give you any sortof updates, but that is quickly
being remedied.
This app is in beta, but rightnow we're going to take a look
(37:39):
at it.
One second when you at, yes,and it is called GT Race
Engineer.
So this app, like I said, it'sin beta.
Jason (37:51):
Handsome young man, look
at that.
What is that?
Jeff (37:53):
That's AI generated, I
don't know.
So this app, like I said, it'sa handsome young man.
Erick (37:55):
Look at that.
What is that?
Hey, man, that's him man.
You can have him talking inyour ear, telling you all the
good updates tell him to come tothe sim racing expo.
Jason (38:02):
Man, that's what we need.
We need him giving us theplay-by-play yeah, man, I want
to meet this guy with the shades.
Erick (38:12):
Yeah, but shout out to
Skepler Dev.
I don't know if that's his realname, but he's doing the Lord's
work All right.
This app is currently free andalso it is Android only, so
don't don't come for me.
I got nothing to do with that.
It is what it is right now.
It's Android only.
(38:32):
He probably can't afford theapple license oh I said that oh,
I'm sorry hey look, hey, hey,no hate, no hate zone here.
So he's got like a quick littleclip, uh, kind of okay, let's,
let's see it yeah, your tiresare now warm, let's push no,
it's fine.
Jason (38:57):
We're currently sitting
at 60% fuel.
Okay, no, that's fine.
Erick (39:06):
Keep it.
Jeff (39:11):
Ooh.
You just clocked at 1 minute 54seconds 0.3.
Jason (39:14):
I like.
I like the car man.
I'm focused in on the carthat's dope, I like it.
Yeah, don't worry about thelevels, eric, the little post
production we'll take care ofthat we know the gurus on the
job.
Erick (39:28):
Man, I'm not even worried
.
As soon as you told me it wasgood, I was like, hey, you say
it's good, so how's it work?
So it works similar to the waySimHub gets data from GT7.
It actually just connects overyour Wi-Fi, connects to your
network, finds the PlayStationand it connects up.
It gets the telemetry and data, sees your race information and
(39:50):
all that stuff.
I'll do a quick demo here foryou guys in a second, just so
you can see it real time.
And I actually just updated iton the 20th with a couple of new
features.
Jason (40:00):
Oh, they got a Discord
too Nice.
Erick (40:03):
Yep Got a Discord.
You can go in and get the appand see updates Right now.
They just added, you know, somepit encouragement and lap time
averages on pit um.
He now announces when a lap wasinvalidated during time lapse,
which is okay, you know which ishelpful.
(40:23):
Uh, because it's kind of hard totell.
Sometimes on gt7 you just getthe red counter, but the red
counter stays red for thatsector, so you don't know when
the one you're on is actuallyinvalidated or you start new.
So just some, they're slowlyadding new features.
Like I said, give me a second,I'm going to get set up here and
(40:43):
we will take a look at it.
Jason (40:44):
Oh wow, it was just
updated the other day.
You see that March 20th.
Erick (40:48):
Yeah, he's active, like I
said on.
Yeah, he's active, like I said,I'm a 20th, just added those
new features.
Um and specifically you know ohyeah, caught my eye, oh yeah
this is invaluable for vr guysdefinitely yeah, if you've ever
heard me talk about the cons ofpsvr2, it's just the lack of
information, like race specificstuff and the more.
(41:10):
The more information that youcan get from this app, the
better.
But he has mentioned thatthere's just certain information
gt7 doesn't surface right.
There's certain info that don'tgive you um.
So it's kind of weird.
We're actually like in thediscord and everywhere people
can, they're like reaching outand tagging polyphony, like hey,
please turn on this data, startgiving out this telemetry and
(41:33):
things like that.
But like I say I'll, I'll fireit up here and we'll take a look
at it in action.
Give me one second, get mylittle setup going I can't wait.
Jeff (41:45):
Let's see it.
It's dope that this dude gaveit away for free.
You know he could obviouslycharge a couple bucks and try to
make some of his money clever.
Jason (41:53):
Look at, you, look at
this man, tech gentleman, the
tech gentleman, he's got thedevices.
Erick (42:00):
I try to do what I can
and, matter of fact, before we
get going, I'm going to hop intothe settings just to give you
guys some of the stuff that, um,look at some of the things that
you can do.
This will straighten out.
Jeff (42:15):
It's got a whole list of
stuff, huh.
Erick (42:16):
Yeah, so it's got a whole
list of things that you can
activate.
Jason (42:23):
Can you focus in on that?
Yeah, let's see it.
Erick (42:25):
There we go, perfect Nice
.
Jason (42:27):
And start from the top.
Okay, okay, okay, oh, wow, it'sgot quite a bit of settings,
yeah, okay current lot okayfarewell yeah, yeah, cold tires,
yeah, that's what's
Erick (42:41):
up which is a hot lap and
then it's got certain stuff at
the bottom down here that is,you know, slated coming soon,
yeah and like I say is ohthey're trying, they're trying
man oh, it's very uh, crewchief-esque yep, I mean they got
a good template with crew chief, so you know, no need to
(43:02):
reinvent the wheel, just tryingto figure out what to do, and
you know, kind of makeimprovements as people, um, you
know, in the discord kind ofhighlight different pros and
cons.
But what we'll do here is getthis guy set up and this will
just be here so you guys can seeit in action.
It doesn't visually do anything, but just makes me feel a
little bit better, showing youguys that.
(43:24):
So, as you can see in thebackground here, I got my PS5
set up and I'm going to get theguy started.
Jason (43:45):
That's why it's free.
Erick (43:48):
Yeah, it's free right now
because of the ads and
hopefully at some point he'lloffer a ad-free version which,
if he likes money, he'll do that.
Jason (43:57):
He should, because a lot
of people will pay for not
having the guy showing you thosevideo games.
I'm just saying yeah, exactly.
I know I'm one of those I ain'tpaying.
I'm watching this guy.
I'm watching this guy.
Erick (44:18):
Okay well, you guys get
the drift, you know what he's.
Jason (44:20):
You kind of got a preview
watching the video, yeah.
Erick (44:24):
But yeah, as you race, it
gives you different call signs.
Jason (44:27):
So how does it connect to
the PS5?
Is it via?
Erick (44:32):
Bluetooth, so it's over
your network.
Jason (44:35):
Okay, so you put an IP
address and then it finds it.
Erick (44:41):
If I remember right, it
actually just searches your
network for your PS5.
Jason (44:46):
Yeah, because you have to
be on the same Wi-Fi, which,
essentially, is doing the samething.
Erick (44:50):
Yeah, and it plays
through your phone or the
speakers of your uh tv um, so itplays on your phone, but then
obviously you can connectwhatever you want to your phone,
bluetooth or you know, headsetsor whatever there's some
limitations there, right yeah?
yeah, um, usually what I'll do,um, because I have the steel
series I'll have on my headsetand I have, you know, obviously,
(45:11):
obviously one input to theheadset connected to the PS5,
and then the Bluetooth connectedto the phone, so I get both
sound from the game and thecalls from the engineer, and
then, of course, this is myphone, I can play music from it
you can get calls too.
Jeff (45:28):
I have that too you can
get a little bit of the surround
sound, you can put it over toyour left and you know it's just
.
Yeah, it gives you a differentuh, you know spatial awareness,
if you will yeah, you can dothat as well.
Erick (45:40):
Um, I think the future is
bright for it.
It's a, like I said, it's adope app and it's much needed,
especially if you write some vron ps2.
I mean, this is even in itscurrent state.
You're getting a lot moreinformation than a lot more
information than you normallyget.
So if you're trying to befaster, go ahead.
Jason (46:00):
It looks simple too.
It's like a button press andset it up.
Jeff (46:05):
It's a clean looking app.
Jason (46:07):
That's great.
That's a good option for GT7.
I mean, they really don't havethat many options out there,
right?
Erick (46:15):
I mean with this kind of
says they got one, yeah, you got
one, that's pretty much it, andI'm gonna see just for one
second, see if I don't know whyit's so low.
Jason (46:26):
But just turn it all the
way up.
Erick (46:28):
Yeah, right now it's all
the way up and I'll turn on my
mic a little bit besidescanceling it okay yeah, we can
hear him engaging yeah, and sohe'll give you.
This is just a little mock race, but as you make overtakes and
(46:51):
you know he'll tell you the timeto the guy in front of, tell
you the time to the guy in frontof you, not the time to the guy
in front of you, but tell you, like the next car ahead, your
position.
Okay, who's coming up behindyou?
I think the time to there'ssomething about either the time
to the person in front of you orbehind you or one of the deltas
that uh, gt7 doesn't surface.
(47:12):
It doesn't provide thatinformation for it to even tell
you.
So it's kind of one of thoseareas where polyphony is lacking
behind, but you know.
Jason (47:21):
Not even some Sims don't
even do that.
And that's the beauty ofSimMagic, Not SimMagic.
Erick (47:27):
SimHub Ah yeah, simhub.
Jason (47:32):
They found a way to
calculate that stuff, you know,
using sim hub if it didn'tsupport it?
Yeah, because I rememberconstantino's talking about how
hard it was to get the timesexact, like the exact time for,
uh, your lap, for example, especially when you're running a
(47:53):
multi-race that has like ahundred cars on track.
There's a lot of computationalpower going on in the background
to get all that data synced up.
You know every single lap.
Jeff (48:06):
How is the?
How easy is it to set it up?
From when you sit in thecockpit, from coming home from
work sitting in your rig andyou're like, hey, I want to sync
this thing up.
How long does it take from whenyou get your phone in your hand
to when you start hearing thatdude blasting away?
Erick (48:20):
So, just to give you an
example, I will close the app.
Jason (48:26):
God protection.
Erick (48:27):
God alert, go to it,
start it up.
Jason (48:33):
It found the PS5.
I saw it on the bottom.
Erick (48:36):
Yep, and of course you
got the ad that plays.
Jason (48:41):
That's what kills it, man
the ad bro, that's hours out of
my life.
Erick (48:45):
Yeah, what's up, homie.
Jeff (48:46):
I'm connected and ready to
go.
Now we're in 16th position.
Yeah, you've lost 16positions's damn bro, you lost
16 I'm at the back of the packman.
Erick (48:59):
It's still still tracking
, but yeah, but there's some
yeah, there's some bugs andthat's the vibe normally is.
I don't know what's going onearlier, but yeah, that's how
quick it is.
You hit it, set it up.
You might have to check it inbetween the races to make sure
it's still connected, but it'lltell you like hey, I'm not
connected, like even if I stopit.
Jeff (49:21):
Engineer disconnected.
Jason (49:23):
Okay, cool, cool.
Erick (49:25):
Yeah, they're thinking
about some things, man, that's
pretty cool.
Jeff (49:27):
Yeah, if you're a GT7 guy,
you got to have that.
That just adds to theexperience.
Jason (49:32):
100 definitely, even if
it's just playing off to the
side for for ambiance that's ityeah if or you connected via
bluetooth to a speaker, youcould do all kinds of stuff to
make it.
To make it you know to work, you know your particular
situation oh yeah all right, allright.
So I mean we're, we're.
(49:53):
That's kind of awesome man.
We went hard on the news, soit's that time.
Jeff (50:00):
What time?
Jason (50:01):
It's that time for track
of the week.
Jeff (50:03):
Oh, it's that time.
Erick (50:03):
Yes sir, and this time.
Jason (50:06):
Mr Kelly has the track of
the week, which I still don't.
I really don't know which oneyou, you, you picked out, so
let's hear it.
Yeah, we didn't talk about it.
Erick (50:14):
Yeah, I've been keeping
it under wraps.
Jason (50:24):
Go ahead and share one
more time here.
I know we got Eric on a rollright now and boom.
Road, atlanta.
We need to do something aboutthese ads.
Man, this is getting straightcompletely out of hand.
Erick (50:40):
This is getting
disrespectful right now
completely out of hand bro thisis unconstitutional.
Jason (50:47):
Look, we got the American
flag up there.
What's going on?
Jeff (50:50):
I'm telling you man that's
what's going on Look.
Erick (50:53):
I'm telling you, man Best
buy.
That's what's going onProblematic bro, I'm going to
try to keep them at bay best Ican.
Jason (51:00):
I'm going to tell you
what it looked like.
It looked like a piece ofchicken.
Jeff (51:03):
to me Looks like a piece
of chicken.
No, it looks like a tomahawk.
Yeah, exactly, I was going tosay a tomahawk steak, tomahawk
Hell, yeah, yeah, crush.
One of those right now.
Erick (51:15):
Oh, bro, man, real, you
got me hungry, man.
Let me try to stay focused, letme focus up, let me focus up.
So Royal Atlanta is a coolcourse.
It's actually one of theyounger courses that we've
covered.
It first came out in 1970.
Yeah, yeah, so no wartimestories or anything like that
(51:38):
going on, and it hadn't reallychanged much.
If you've ever raced RoadAtlanta, it's A nice course.
It's got some differentelevations, it's got some nice,
you know, combination of curves.
Jason (51:51):
It's a fun one yeah fun.
Erick (51:53):
It's got some chicane,
some straights and all of that
stuff, but just really a cool.
Once you cool course and onceyou get the layout of it figured
out, it's fun.
You can have some nicecompetitive races on it.
One of one of the courses thatI like because I kind of was
forced to learn it due to gt7,um, but just kind of some some
(52:15):
stats on it.
Uh, it is a 750 acre course inhall county and there's over
600,000 square feet of pavedteam paddock space, so there's a
lot of space around the courseas well.
Yeah, so if you know, they havea lot of different events there
.
They actually have, you know, different showcases and stuff
(52:39):
besides races.
They try to make it a veryfamily friendly course and
children under 12 actually getin free.
So they're really trying topromote that family-friendly
atmosphere which you know.
I don't know about you, but Ilike free stuff.
Jeff (52:56):
Especially with those
humans.
You have those humans that areunder 12.
Yeah, I like free stuff too.
Oh yeah.
Erick (53:03):
Yeah, I will take it
every single time.
So get back to my facts.
Where'd you go?
come back here 70 huh yeah, yes,I guess, I thought it would be
earlier than that yeah, itseemed like it, but I mean it's
(53:24):
it's just one of the youngercourses, but so it's a two and a
half mile course in 12 turnsand this is kind of one of the
more challenging layouts forsome people.
And some of the kind ofsignature events that they have
are the Matul, petit Le Mans andthe Moto America, petite lamans
(53:53):
and the moto america.
Yeah, so those are some of theum, some of the interesting uh
events they have there, and theydo trans am series, they do
super bikes and they also dolike special events like formula
drift and um, just a host ofother stuff.
You know gt3 and um, just ahost of other stuff.
You know GT3, obviously theyhave the um, the IMSA uh race
(54:14):
series that goes there andperforms.
It's a a very versatile trackand we'll kind of look back
through some of these changes.
Like I say, there's not muchchanges about the check yeah.
Jeff (54:27):
Okay, so it makes a little
.
Erick (54:29):
Yeah, much change is
about to check.
Yeah, okay, so it makes alittle.
Yeah, they make a little changehere in 2002 and see where the
because they actually mentionedthe purpose for the change there
because they added in theseother course options.
So you got that's cool.
Jeff (54:51):
Maybe it's like some
go-karts and stuff.
Erick (54:53):
Yeah, so they.
This one was they added a grandprix circuit and they also had
a the short courses that theyadd, that they added, so they
got this super short course here.
Jeff (55:06):
That's probably like less
than a mile.
Erick (55:11):
If the whole thing's 2.5.
Yeah, they don't even have ameasurement on it.
And then the short course, which is longer than the club
course.
So it's.
You know they've added someother functionality to it and
you know some small changes in2003.
Jason (55:28):
Oh, so it's pretty much
the same since they built it.
Erick (55:31):
Yeah, it's been pretty
much the same layout.
No major catastrophes.
This course has been relativelysafe, no way.
I don't know if it hassomething to do with the era.
Jason (55:44):
Do you think we learned
our lesson?
I think so.
Erick (55:47):
Yeah, I think we might
have figured out safety a little
bit by 1970, um and in 1970.
Jason (55:52):
I was gonna say that was
back when tracks were affordable
to make.
Uh, it's probably one of thefinal, yeah they ain't making
more tracks, yeah no tracks in2025 bro yeah, yeah.
Erick (56:05):
And then just the
engineering you know, and they
had a lot to learn, a lot topiggyback off of, to know what
not to do Lessons learned.
Exactly yeah.
So, like I said, it's a fun, fluent course, elevation changes
and the whole nine.
Jeff (56:21):
It's an iRacing a lot for
the weeklies.
Jason (56:23):
It is a fun fast track
too, oh yeah.
Erick (56:28):
Yeah, so actually it was
one of the daily races last week
for GT7, but the car that youraced on it was it was like a
road car, like a little-.
Jason (56:39):
Oh, did we not move from
GT7, bro?
Erick (56:41):
Hey man, I got to plug it
out whenever I can man, I'm
getting mixed feelings here, youknow.
Those are accurate feelings, definitely accurate year.
You know, those are accuratefeelings, definitely accurate,
um.
But so, speaking of how youngthe course is, the funniest
thing to me was when I looked atthe first game to feature the
course.
It was actually featured in1985 on the commodore 64 in a
(57:04):
game called racing destructionset oh no so the track had only
been out 1985 for a track thatcame out in 1970.
So that's how it got popularyeah yeah, yeah, but um so yeah,
I've been in a host of othergames as well.
You know, of course, gt7 forzaf1.
(57:26):
You know r factor beam ng Iracing obviously lamont.
So it's a Forza F1, r-factorBeamNG iRacing obviously Le Mans
.
It's a very popular course.
That is our track of the week, road Atlanta.
If you haven't tried it out,try it out and let us know what
you think in the comments.
Jason (57:45):
All right, road America
Road Atlanta.
There's two roads.
There's Road America RoadAtlanta.
There's probably more roads,too, that I'm missing.
But I'm assuming not muchhistory with it.
It's not a legendary statustrack, so we kind of kept that
little summary in check.
(58:07):
I kept that little summary incheck.
But still, by all means, I wishwe had a track, but we don't.
We don't have a Hawaiian trackhere.
Jeff (58:14):
Got closed down, yeah, or
was it a drag strip?
I can't remember.
It was a landing strip, bro, that we call track, with a few
cones out there they do what'sit called Autocross out at the
stadium parking lot, like once amonth.
Jason (58:31):
Yeah, yeah, and they used
to do track days on the old Air
Force.
Is it Air Force Barber's Point?
Yeah, they used to do it thereFor motorcycles too.
They used to do it All right.
Well, eric, thank you so muchfor covering the track of the
week.
That's another one down.
I hope you don't run outsomehow I didn't think about
(59:05):
that of the emails that wereceived this week.
Um, because, thank you so much.
First of all, you know who youare, or you're about to be.
We're about to share thoseemails, and I'll start with man
I keep.
I hate to do this, but, eric, you're, you're up first.
Man.
Erick (59:21):
Hey, let's go, I'm warmed
up man.
Jason (59:23):
You got, we got him
airtime today, oh yeah, yeah, so
, uh.
Erick (59:28):
So we received the email
about sim magic from drew funk
11 drew funk.
Jason (59:34):
This isn't the first time
, man, I've read that name
before, so thank you so much, man appreciate yep, unique and
memorable name.
Erick (59:42):
Like I said, we
appreciate it.
Can't forget that, yeah yeah, but he says hey guys, I was just
wondering if you saw sim magicposted about their new wheelbase
called the alpha evo.
I found an interview on youtubefrom a couple of weeks ago and
the sim magic rep wassurprisingly open about it,
saying it would be cheaper thanthe current alpha wheelbase.
This news is exciting to me andI'll link the video if you guys
(01:00:04):
want to check it out.
Keep up the good work.
Love the show show.
Hey look, we appreciate thesupport, appreciate the love.
We know you've been rockingwith us for a while and we
always appreciate emails.
You know it takes a little bitof extra effort nowadays to
actually sit down and type outsomething.
Yeah, yeah, you're going pastthe comment, you're finding the
email address, you're typingeverything out, adding video in.
(01:00:27):
I mean, we, we appreciate thateffort.
So I actually did watch thisvideo.
Just share it, just so you guysknow what video it is.
I won't play it, but I'll justkind of share.
Jason (01:00:42):
We'll put it in the links
, in the description as well,
for you guys to check out.
Erick (01:00:46):
Yeah, and this is the
video here and this is the rep
that they're talking about, um,and behind him see if I could
find a yeah, just a shot of thewheelbase so you guys can see it
.
But if you haven't seen um, anyof sim magic's offerings from I
(01:01:10):
can't think of the name of theexpo, but they showed a line of
devices that you know wereinterchangeable From the ADAC.
Jason (01:01:17):
Adac yes.
Erick (01:01:18):
Yeah.
So they showed off their nextline of devices and if you're
familiar with SimMagic, you knowthat they've recently been
releasing products under a NIObrand right.
So obviously you have the GTNIO wheel, you have the NIO
rumble motors, you have the NIOpedal set and Tyler Wang, before
he departed, he was really kindof explaining the path and
(01:01:43):
trajectory for those and thiswheel base and the idea that
they're cheaper than the Alphalines up with that, because this
is supposed to be more of alike the Neo line is supposed to
be more of a customizable, funtype of line.
I wonder how.
Jason (01:01:59):
I just you know that's
what I'm thinking.
I just wonder how they're doingit.
You know what's beingsacrificed in there.
Erick (01:02:10):
I'm trying to remember
because in the interview you
kind of asked about that and itwasn't.
Obviously you were saying likethe force feedback quality was
the same.
That was basically like thepurpose of the wheelbase was the
force feedback quality.
The torque wasn't going to beas high.
Jeff (01:02:32):
I think it's going to be
like around nine or ten, if I'm
not mistaken.
Jason (01:02:34):
Okay, yeah, just math
doesn't check out to be they
have an 18 quantity but they gotan 18 version, I think a 10, 10
, what is it?
15, 18, something like thatyeah, it's about the ones they
have now.
Erick (01:02:49):
Oh, yeah, so they got the
.
Yeah, so they have the 10 forthe alpha series.
They have the 10, 15 and the 25no, no, no for the new ones oh
yeah the new ones.
Jason (01:03:01):
There's an 18 version
they got the highest yeah oh, so
that's what they okay.
So that's what they're doing, they're just just okay.
Erick (01:03:08):
Yeah, let's torque the
360 hertz feedback and then just
the SimHub LED tie-in and thenthe whole ecosystem Magnetic DDU
features and stuff.
Yeah, so nothing really that'sbreaking the bank.
It's just the different kind ofcustomization options in my
mind.
Jason (01:03:28):
Okay yeah, All right Well
we'll leave that options in my
mind.
Okay, yeah, all right.
Well, we'll leave that link inthe description.
Thank you so much, eric, forcovering that man and Drew Funk.
This isn't the first time, as Imentioned earlier, I think you
were one of the first ones toemail the show too, so I see you
, we all see you.
Highly appreciate you.
So, jeff, you got the next one.
(01:03:49):
Man, this was my favorite.
Jeff (01:03:53):
I had to fight with Jeff,
so yeah, we got an email I
wanted to cover this one.
Jason (01:03:57):
I'm like Jeff, go ahead,
it is.
Jeff (01:03:59):
Yeah, so this is from Mark
Fleming.
He says hey, fellas, justthought I'd drop you an image of
my week ahead.
I've been watching the podcastfor a while and so far it's cost
me an active pedal and a 3dprinter.
Uh, let us just be known thatwe caveat this we can't be held
responsible for any financialdecisions that anybody makes
that listens to the show.
That's the asterisk.
That should go along with theshow.
(01:04:20):
Keep up the great work.
All three of you gel welltogether.
Thanks, mark ps.
I'll keep you updated on thecompletion.
And, gentlemen, what I'm aboutto share right now is Christmas.
Erick (01:04:33):
Oh, yeah, for us dudes
Christmas in April.
Jeff (01:04:37):
I know, so, hold on a
second here.
Jason (01:04:40):
Every time I look at it,
man, I can't.
Erick (01:04:44):
Yeah, seeing it now.
Here we go I haven't built arig Boom.
Jason (01:04:54):
Jeez Dude the amount of
screws and bolts yeah dude mark.
Jeff (01:04:58):
Yeah, like his I could.
I see like my knees aching andmy little fingers getting sore
from putting all this in lab.
It did like, but that dude'sgot himself a rig.
Erick (01:05:08):
Oh yeah, he has it set up
For sure.
Jason (01:05:11):
I wonder what he's
running now Like is this a
straight first?
Erick (01:05:16):
build Zero to 100?
.
Jeff (01:05:18):
Dude, there's cry once,
and then there's cry once.
Erick (01:05:21):
Yeah, yeah, oh yeah.
The tears are flowing.
I mean, he's even got to putthe hub on the wheel rim.
Like he's got to assembleeverything, Dude that's.
He's even got to put the hub onthe wheel rim.
He's got to assemble everything.
I'll say, before I built my rig, I would look at this and I
would be excited.
But after building my rig, I'mlike this is great, but the work
(01:05:44):
, my goodness.
Jeff (01:05:46):
Listen, congratulations
man, congratulations, work.
Oh, my goodness, listen, congratulations, man, this
congratulations.
But send us a picture of thatsucker completed in a week, week
and a half, whenever you'redone this thing.
Uh, we want to see it, man, that looks like a killer rig
there, something you're going tobe happy with for a long time,
and uh, yeah and remember, justtell the wife they gave it to me
(01:06:07):
, they gave it to me.
Jason (01:06:11):
Or just tell her that
it's some equipment for the
garage for the something CityCube.
No, no, don't Google them.
Erick (01:06:19):
Don't Google them.
Sim Lab Roll the boxes out.
Yeah, Sim Lab.
Well, they're just some littleguys, some cheap stuff.
Jason (01:06:26):
Sim Lab.
You know it's for my daughter'sbiology class.
I don't know.
So here we go.
We got final email of this week.
Thank you guys so much foremailing the show, kevin
McLaurin.
And it says here hello guys.
First off, I want to say I lovethe podcast.
This is already three emails.
(01:06:46):
That's saying that you love thepodcast.
I love that.
I love hearing this.
Love the podcast.
Emails.
That's saying that you love thepodcast.
I love that.
I love hearing this.
Love the podcast.
You guys Keep up the great work.
I have not missed an episode.
Thank you, appreciate it.
Erick (01:06:56):
Hey, appreciate it.
Shout out man for theconsistency, Amen, that loyalty
man.
Jason (01:07:01):
I'm telling you that love
.
I look forward to listening toyou guys every week Now.
Look forward to listening toyou guys every week Now.
My question I am thinking oftaking the plunge and purchase a
3D printer.
Oh, another one we're going tobe responsible for.
I keep getting blamed.
I get blamed for everything, even by Jeff and Eric.
Erick (01:07:21):
I get reminded every day.
Jason (01:07:23):
This is you.
Erick (01:07:24):
It's your fault, Even if
I bought it first it's still
your fault.
Jason (01:07:31):
What's your
recommendation, buddy?
So let me just finish, hurryreal quick just just wanted to
know which models do you guyshave so this is a group thing
and which would you recommend?
Not really concerned with price, oh, okay, all right, it's good
to know there's no, there'sbudget, but would probably like
to stay under 2K.
Okay, so there is a budget, sohe's comfortable in the less
(01:07:54):
than 2K range, which isEverything consumer.
That is a great, great optionswith that.
So I've been hearing a lotabout the H2D but was wondering
if it was worth it.
Or should I go with one of theother bamboo models?
I'm thinking of the buy once, cry once, saying we sim versus
go buy Anyhow.
(01:08:16):
What's your suggestions?
Thanks in advance, kevinMcLaurin.
So, kevin, we're going to goover the machines we have.
So I started out with an A1.
I returned it in two days.
I purchased an A1 Mini and anX1C and Jeff, what are you
running back there?
Jeff (01:08:35):
I run the P1S, the P1S and
Eric.
Erick (01:08:38):
Still on my A1.
Jason (01:08:41):
So for about maybe two
weeks' time we owned the entire
lineup.
That's terrible.
Erick (01:08:52):
You never thought about
that's the first time I thought
about that.
Jason (01:08:55):
That's true from top to
bottom, the entire, the entire
portfolio a1 p1 x1, like there'snot a single model that we
can't cover here.
We can't talk about.
Jeff (01:09:07):
We don't make a nickel
from bamboo.
Erick (01:09:08):
Hey, yeah, bamboo, that
shit don't exist.
Bamboo, come on, Come on,bamboo, bamboo, I'm telling you.
Jason (01:09:14):
I would love to.
We say that a lot here, so I'mgoing to let each of us answer
this right To get you the rightanswer here.
So in my opinion, it depends onone, what you're trying to
print.
Two, do you see yourselfprinting for things more than
(01:09:38):
sim racing right, like Jeff'scase?
He's got a boat.
Eric has a big lawn outsidethat he could probably start a
whole forest the size of hisgarden.
His land is huge compared toours in Hawaii.
Erick (01:09:51):
And a wife and kids.
Jason (01:09:53):
And a wife and kids to
run around.
You know doing all kinds ofstuff, right?
So my thing was I will get thebig boy printer and get the mini
printer to complement both ofthem, so that way print times
are cut in half.
And the mini was you know itwas.
It was a good purchase for theprice, right, there's two
(01:10:16):
hundred dollars.
They gave it to me, yeah.
So I'm not telling you you needto do that.
Well, I'm trying to be verycareful here.
I'm telling you, I want you togo to makerworldcom which is
what Bamboo uses and startlooking at the stuff, start
looking at options on what youcould do with this machine.
And if you see yourself goingover using PLA, abs, any other
(01:10:40):
harsh material, then you'regoing to need an enclosure.
That's how I got Jeff.
That's how I convinced Jeff.
I was like Jeff.
If you're thinking about, youalso got to think about kids too
.
If you have an open machinelike this, they can come up and
it could be dangerous, right?
Jeff (01:10:57):
Dude, my kids love
watching it and I'd be done It'd
be ruined if they had.
Jason (01:11:03):
If you didn't have it, if
you took it away.
Oh, it's open once they had it.
Jeff (01:11:07):
No, no, I'm saying, if it
wasn't enclosed.
Rob Markman, okay.
Jason (01:11:10):
If it wasn't enclosed.
Erick (01:11:11):
Yeah, young kids animals,
just Rob Markman.
Jason (01:11:14):
Cats they love to climb
on top of shit that would.
Jeff (01:11:17):
Nothing to do with that
thing.
Jason (01:11:18):
Rob Markman.
Yeah, yeah, rob.
Erick (01:11:21):
Markman.
Jason (01:11:21):
And another thing is
space, right.
So space is a big major thingand most of us guys have.
You either have a man cave oryou have a garage cave, so some
guys like to hang out in thegarage and with all the dust and
all the elements in the garage,I would highly recommend an
(01:11:43):
enclosed printer.
So that's my take on it.
I'll let you decide.
Don't come after me, Please,Eric.
You go next.
Erick (01:11:58):
Okay, yeah, so obviously
I still have my A1 and me, and
Jason talked about it.
When he got his A1 and he grewout of it immediately he saw the
vision he was like I need more,I need bigger, I need more
options.
Because I got plans and for methe A1 works for what I print
right now and for me I'll beadding a second printer at some
point and multicolor reasonsit's.
(01:12:33):
It's so hard to to beat theprice of the printers like the
a1 mini, the a1 if, if budgetwhich we know for, for him
that's not really a big issueand space are concerned, they're
.
It's crazy how good they arefor the amount of space they
take up, right so for so, so forme, space, and also to jason's
point um, if you don't plan onprinting in any I've called it
(01:12:53):
like exotic filaments where youneed like precise temperature
control or things like that, then the a1 quality wise, um it,
it's right up there with the, with the other enclosed ones,
like there wouldn't be a pointwhere you'd print something on
the a1 and say, uh, you know the, the quality of this isn't you
(01:13:18):
know that's correct?
so yeah, that's that's.
Those are kind of stickingpoints for me right.
Jason (01:13:25):
So I started with an a1.
I still have parts from an a1that I printed and the print
quality was fine.
It's just, you know, like yousaid, exotic filaments.
If you want to build thingsthat are going to take a beating
, like a shifter or a actuatorwhich you can actually print,
(01:13:47):
actuators for simulators, or aseatbelt tensioner, which is on
my list, all those things, youneed the materials.
You need a machine that can usethe materials, one and have the
temperature enclosed for wind, draft and dust and everything.
(01:14:08):
So, jeff, what's your take, your take, man, I haven't asked
you this.
Jeff (01:14:12):
Huh dude, that's I am
pumped, you, you know, you kind
of convinced me, um, for the p1s.
I'm so glad you did, honestly,uh, because if I got the, you
know, the a1, my kid, my, youknow, I have a year and a half
old and he loves watching it andit'd just be a matter of time
before he went up there and waslike I want to touch this thing.
(01:14:33):
So the enclosure helps for thatreason, right.
But also, like I, I have thingsthat I want to print for the
boat, you know, and out in thesun, you know, pla is just not
going to cut it, you know.
So I have the option I haven'tdone it yet, but I have the
(01:14:59):
option to do that um, so I havehad zero regrets with the p1s
and the I I would get hard stop.
I would tell somebody to getthe ams though, um, that is
super convenient to have the amsunit, uh, so you can on any of
them.
Jason (01:15:05):
Yeah, yeah, I second that
so and I'll piggyback with you,
jeff, I do agree with you withwhat you just said about the AMS
.
However, also, if you add AMSto any of the A-series printers,
you're doubling the size of it,essentially, unless you mount
(01:15:26):
it on the top.
But I'm very I thought aboutdoing that.
We and eric spoke for hours andI said dude, but it's kind of
heavy, it makes it unstable.
A machine.
It's a box and you put it ontop and nothing moves.
So just everybody's different, everybody's use case is
different.
So that's our take, that's thechicane podcast.
(01:15:48):
Take on bamboo printers, um,and if you know anybody from
bamboo, just uh, tell them toemail the chicane podcast that
we would love to have aconversation with them just a
discount on filament, I'll takeit.
Yeah, it's a faster shippingbamboo we're still waiting on
(01:16:09):
our freaking app.
My printers are not going.
Jeff (01:16:11):
They're like what happened
you got it's like, it's on that
blimpy, that floating acrossthe pacific out to us now yeah,
whatever it is they're doing, sothat's not their fault.
Jason (01:16:22):
They still make great
machines you can't go wrong with
any one.
I I will say that right now.
Jeff (01:16:28):
My wife printed for nine
hours yesterday like three
different things.
I was run out to work to try toprint something and it was busy
the whole day.
Jason (01:16:37):
They use it more than you
, bro.
She does.
Jeff (01:16:40):
At least this week, she
has used it more than I have.
Well, amen.
Jason (01:16:44):
You let your wife know
that there's kind of a filament
tax.
Jeff (01:16:48):
Dude, but it's awesome.
I sat up there with my kid andwe were messing around the
studio and he was understandingyou know, my seven-year-old of
the colors and the sizing andthe.
Yeah, it was awesome, likethat's exactly why I got it, you
know.
No, that's a lie.
That's what I sold it as.
Jason (01:17:06):
It turned out to be true.
Erick (01:17:10):
It turned out to be, true
, it turned out to be true.
So yeah, and the software toois a is a major point.
Jason (01:17:14):
Very easy to use.
Erick (01:17:15):
Yeah, very easy to use,
very intuitive, it's free and
you you can do a lot before youneed to actually start using
some other higher grade software.
Jason (01:17:26):
And even then, right Eric
, I found models that are not
for bamboo.
That are on printables yeahit's very simple instructions
load it up, 20, infill to heightokay, um how much.
On the temperature okay, temperatures by the plate.
(01:17:46):
Anyway, you save the settings, you hit, print, you go to sleep,
you wake up, it's waiting foryou yeah it's that simple so
magical feeling birthed it soyeah, so, oh, man, all right, so
that's about it.
That's what we have for thisweek.
Uh, round tables.
I'm pretty sure we're all spenthere Drive fast brake late,
(01:18:10):
there we go, let's go.
Look at them, bro.
I'm telling you man.
Jeff (01:18:13):
I can't be a proudest hell
.
Teach an old dog new tricks, that's it.
Jason (01:18:17):
And the real question is,
before we let you go, is will I
see you at the Sim Racing Expoin September?
Something to think about?
If you're buying a bambooprinter or thinking about the
expo, forget about the printer.
Come to the expo.
There's way more fun to behaving.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding, I'mkidding.
Anyways, guys, we're not, we'renot.
(01:18:39):
Have a great start of your week, thank you.
