Speaker 1 (00:00):
What if I told you
there is a simple free move you
can make this week that couldgive your clinic a boost in
search results, includingAI-driven search results?
And almost no one is talkingabout it.
It's not social media, it's noteven Google.
(00:21):
This is an old-school strategythat's quietly making a comeback
, and it can be helpful to helpyou stand out online in a really
competitive market.
Are you curious?
All right, let's dive in.
Well, hey there, and welcomeback to the Clinic Marketing
(00:42):
Podcast.
I'm your host, darci Sullivan, from Propel Marketing and Design
.
This is a show where we makemarketing simple, practical and
effective for busy clinics likeyours.
Now I'm about to say somethingthat is going to surprise you,
because, well, it surprised mewhen I started to do a little
(01:05):
digging into it last week.
We're talking about yellowpages.
Yep, that giant yellow bookyour parents used to keep under
the kitchen phone, the one thatyou probably haven't thought
about in years.
Well, turns out, it stillmatters for your clinic's
(01:26):
marketing, and not just a little.
Go ahead, grab a cup of coffee, because I am going to walk you
through why Yellow Pages isstill a legitimate player in
your local SEO game, how itimpacts your search visibility
and exactly what you should doto make sure your listing is
(01:47):
still working for you, notagainst you.
Now, just to clear this up whenwe're talking about your listing
, we're talking about yourlisting online, not the good
old-fashioned thick book thatsome of us love and remember.
And you might be saying well, how?
What Yellow Pages?
(02:08):
I know, here's the thing YellowPages isn't dead.
In fact, it's holding steady asone of the top citation sources
out there.
So citation sources, whichwe've talked about before,
they're your online listings, and I was reading this study and
doing some diving into this, and there's an SEO expert that I
(02:32):
look up to named Miriam Ellis, and she found that yellow pages
ranked fifth, fifth, fifth Sorry, I have to keep repeating it
fifth, fifth sorry, I have tokeep repeating it, it sounds so
weird Fifth overall in a reviewsource study.
(02:52):
Fifth can you believe that?
That's above a ton of otherdirectories that you might think
are more modern.
And if you go to Google andsearch for something like
plumber in Denver or physicaltherapist in Miami, there's a
chance yellow pages will popnear the top of the results.
It's not flashy, but Google isclearly still indexing and
(03:15):
trusting it.
But let's look at this as anoverall way that this listing
can help you, because it's notjust about Google.
And before we dive into that, Ido want to mention that this is
really interesting.
In some parts of Europe, googleis pulling Yellow Pages reviews
directly into Google BusinessProfile listings.
(03:39):
Can you believe that that meansthis platform is not just
sitting there collecting dust?
And then there's Bing Places.
It uses Yellow Pages as one ofthe sources it pulls reviews
from.
Now, when we look at thefrequency of Bing Places and
(03:59):
where it pulls reviews from andwhere it relies on, the top one
is Facebook.
After Facebook it's Yelp, afterYelp it's TripAdvisor and Porch
, which have really nothing todo with the audience that's
probably listening to thisepisode.
But right after that it'sYellow Pages, it's
(04:21):
yellowpagescom.
And before you say who caresabout Bing Places, you know who
cares about Bing Places ChatGPTcares.
Chatgpt cares about Bing Places.
Chatgpt highly relies on BingPlaces for where it pulls its
(04:41):
information.
See how this is all starting topull together.
And here's the thing that Ilove.
Like, if you jump in this weekand make some of these changes
that we're going to talk about, you're ahead of the game.
Is it going to change youroverall online presence
astronomically?
No, but it's probably an actionthat is going to help you in
(05:02):
Google search, that's going tohelp you in your chat GPT
searches and it's probably anaction that your competition is
not taking.
So if you run a clinic, yourpotential patients searching
online for phrases likechiropractor near me or
acupuncturist in name of city, the search engines rely on these
(05:23):
citations.
And the citations are your NAPthat we've talked about before,
your name, your address, yourphone number and the other
information that's associatedwith your business to verify
your business and decide if youare trustworthy enough to rank.
And now good old Yellow Pagesis back.
(05:46):
It's part of that ecosystem.
Having a fully optimized, accurate Yellow Pages listing
strengthens your local SEOfootprint, gives Google, bing
and AI search tools one moresignal that your business is
legitimate.
And hey, even if only a fewpeople click through from yellow
(06:11):
pages, that's still a win,isn't it?
So think of it as anotherdigital breadcrumb you can drop
to help your patients find you.
Okay, so we've talked about whythis is important, why it's
important directly and why it'simportant indirectly.
Now let's talk about how you canoptimize your Yellow Pages
(06:32):
listing.
This is the practical portion.
Right, you're going to put aYellow Pages action plan
together.
Very simple Just carve outmaybe 10, 15 minutes.
We can do this.
You're going to claim yourlisting.
You're going to head over toypcom and see if your clinic is
already listed.
Claim it so you can control theinformation.
(06:54):
If you have multiple locationsor moved recently or have
multiple listings, consolidatethem.
Next, check your info.
Make sure your clinic's name, address, phone number and
website match everywhere elseonline.
Remember, consistency is key.
Consistency is huge for localSEO and your online citations.
(07:17):
Then you want to fill out everyfield, so add your hours, your
services, detailed description, upload photos of your clinic,
your team, even your logo.
The more complete the better.
Then get some reviews.
Now you do not need to go outand get 100 reviews on Yellow
(07:38):
Pages, but sending every 10thpatient or so a review request
to Yellow Pages instead ofGoogle can help.
Even a handful of reviews givesyour listing a boost Because,
remember, other people aren'tdoing this.
Then keep your eyes on it.
Revisit your listing everycouple of months to make sure
(07:59):
nothing's outdated or duplicated.
Updates can take a day or twoto go live, so don't panic if
you don't see your changes rightaway.
Yellow Pages alone isn't goingto explode your clinic's growth
online.
But here's what it does do itstrengthens your overall local
SEO strategy.
(08:19):
Pair it with a fully optimizedGoogle business profile, fresh
patient reviews coming inconstantly, website content
that's localized to your city orregion and a mobile-friendly
website that makes it easy forpatients to book.
Do those things together, alongwith all the other strategies
(08:41):
we talk about on this show, andyou are not only gonna just show
up on Google and those othersearch engines.
You're going to stand out.
So here's my challenge for youif you choose to accept it, take
15 minutes this week to claimyour Yellow Pages listing.

It's one of those quick winsthat most clinics overlook.
