This week we are going to bediving into a topic around
comfort zones.
First, I want to remind you tohead over to the show notes so
that you can request a topic forme.

(00:43):
podcast, I would love for you tohead over there and it's just
like texting on your phone.
You can text me, there's noreply back, a topic that you
think that I should cover forthe podcast.
So head over to the show notes.
You can click that link.
I would love to hear what youwould like to hear on the
podcast.
And let's dive into this week'sepisode all about comfort zones.
(01:05):
So a comfort zone is thatcomfortable, cozy bubble that
protects us from everything thatwe're afraid of and the
uncertainty in our life.
And I want to start out bysaying that a comfort zone isn't
always a bad thing because itcan protect us when we're going
to do something that might hurtus.
But there's a time where acomfort zone actually isn't good
(01:27):
for us because it keeps us heldback from our full potential,
from growing, from being moreconfident in ourselves.
And the most rewardingexperiences in your life often
come when you push thoseboundaries, when you step
outside of your comfort zone, when you do hard things, when
you do the unknown.
So anything that you everachieved in your life you
(01:50):
probably weren't in your comfortzone.
You probably were outside ofthat comfort zone.
So when you tried out for a teamor you wanted to make the play
at school, you had to try outand you had to go outside your
comfort zone to do those things.
So why we venture outside ourcomfort zone is so beneficial
and so crucial for building ourconfidence.
(02:13):
It can help us shift ourperspective on ourself, which is
the coolest thing.
We try new things and we see theworld in a different way and we
see ourselves in a different waybecause we never thought we
could do something but you didit and you tried it anyway and
it helps you shift yourperspective on yourself it
really increases your confidenceas well when you step outside
(02:34):
your comfort zone you overcomechallenges you fall down and you
get back up again and youbelieve in your abilities and
your confidence just skyrocketsand when true confidence is
built is when we believe inourselves and our abilities,
when we believe that we havewhat it takes, even though we
don't see the end result, eventhough it's a little scary, as
(02:57):
soon as we believe in ourabilities that anything is
possible, that's when ourconfidence will grow.
So I want to challenge you to dosomething that's a little bit
outside of your comfort zonethis week.
I want you to take a littlesmall step and that little small
step is going to make such a bigdifference.
I don't want you to take thishuge leap of faith and do
something that's completely outof the ordinary.
(03:19):
I want you to do something smallthis week that's going to step
you outside of your comfortzone.
You can do something that isreally going to push your limits
for yourself.
The thing about comfort zones isthat not everyone's comfort
zones are the same and that'sthe cool part.
Some kids might love standing upin front of the class and
talking and some kids don't.
You have to know what yourcomfort zone level is.
(03:43):
Are you afraid to strike up aconversation with a stranger?
Are you afraid to speak yourmind?
Those are all things that youcan practice doing.
A really great way to stepoutside your comfort zone, I
feel, is trying a new activityor learning a new skill.
This is something really coolthat Grace and I have done in
the past.
We took online classes that wenever tried before.
(04:05):
We took hand lettering classes.
We tried watercolor.
We tried chalk art.
We did something that we justfound on YouTube and we tried it
for the first time.
And yeah, we stunk at first, butwe kept practicing and we really
stepped outside of our comfortzone.
comfort zone doing things thatwe don't normally do.
And that is the best way to growand to learn.
And Grace actually found outthat she's really good at hand
(04:28):
lettering.
It took some practice for her toget there, but she's really
great at it and she loves doingit.
So you can find something thatyou love to do or that you're
really good at if you just stepoutside your comfort zone and
try something new.
Another cool idea for steppingoutside your comfort zone is
actually really big for a Trysomething new to eat, like a new
(04:52):
food.
You could order somethingdifferent at a restaurant or you
could make a great recipe athome that you find on Pinterest
or just scrolling on TikTok.
Trying new things and gettinginto the habit of stepping
outside your comfort zone anddoing something a little bit
uncomfortable is going to helpyou grow your confidence.
(05:12):
Another way that you canchallenge yourself this week is
just by saying no to somethingthat you don't want to do.
Say all your friends are doingsomething and you'd really
rather just stay home and bewith your family or you'd rather
do something else.
You need to prioritize your ownneeds and set that boundary and
learn to stand up for yourselfand say no.
A lot of the times saying no tosomeone or to about something is
(05:36):
really really hard for peopleand learning to say no and
standing up for yourself is sucha great practice to have and you
need to start that now.
You need to prioritize your ownneeds and what you want in your
life and you have to learn howto say no to people sometimes.
So I hope that you will try todo something really small this
week that will get you outsideyour comfort zone.
(05:56):
Remember, the goal isn't toeliminate that fear altogether
because when you step outsideyour comfort zone, you're going
to have that little bit ofuncomfortable feeling and that
is totally normal.
When I was young I thought thatfeeling meant that I was doing
something wrong and I needed tostop.
It's not.
You acknowledge that feeling, you embrace it, and you take
action despite of it.
(06:17):
Now, I'm not saying doingsomething crazy that's going to
hurt you.
It's going to be somethingsmall, like trying something new
or trying a new food that wetalked about, saying no,
striking up a conversation witha stranger, giving someone a
compliment that's just passingyou by that you don't even know,
someone you don't even know.
I want you to try somethingreally small to get you
understanding what a zone feelslike and going outside of it.
(06:41):
It's a really cool thing tolearn about at your age.
And I wish I would haveunderstood what a comfort zone
was at that age.
And we all have comfort zones.
It's those familiar spaces wherewe feel safe and secure.
And it's not always a bad thing.
But if you want to grow and youwant to have more confidence,
you have to venture beyond thatfeeling.
You have to do some brave thingsin your life to really grow your
(07:03):
confidence.
So I hope that you'll stepoutside your comfort zone this
week and do something really, really cool.
And of course, you could alwaysemail me and let me know what
you're going to do this week Iwant you to do this have your
whole family do it too each ofyou pick something that you are
going to do that's going to stepyou outside of that comfort zone
you're going to see so muchgrowth with each one of you and
I can't wait to hear about it soI hope that you have a wonderful
(07:27):
day I hope you enjoyed thisweek's episode for comfort zones
it's such a great topic it'ssuch a great confidence builder
and summer is a perfect time totest out your comfort zone and
to go beyond that comfort zoneand do something really brave
and and new.
So I hope that you have awonderful day.
And if this episode was helpful,I would love for you to share it
on social media or through textor anyone that needs some
(07:50):
confidence building.
I would love for you to sharethis episode with them in the
podcast.
So I hope that you have awonderful day and always
remember you are brave, you areenough, and you belong here.
I'll see you on next week'sepisode.
