She encourages listeners to approach their days and ultimately their lives with intentionality, aligning actions with their true passions and desires. Speaker (00:01):
You are listening to the Curate Your Life podcast
with Temetria episode 1 0 7.

Temetria (00:09):
Hi, I'm Temetria a single woman in midlife.
But not quite ready for theMoomoo life.
I'm focused on curating a lifethat I love.
A life that is bold and vibrantand full of purpose.
And I'm passionate abouthelping other women do the same.
So join me.
If you're ready to createcurate a big, bold, beautiful

(00:34):
life that you love.

Speaker (00:36):
I wanna talk to you today about perception and how
you perceive things and how yourmind paints the picture and
the, the circumstance, the thingthe.
Experience the people.

(00:59):
They are just there.
And it's your mind thatdictates how you perceive it,
what you, how you feel about it,how you view it.
Think about this.
Let's talk about time.
Time is one of the big ones.

(01:19):
Time is time.
We have put.
Parameters around it and rulesaround it and definitions, but
time is time.
So you've had those days whereit feels like the day has just
flown by and you've had thosedays that just drag on and on
and on.
I know you have, I have had thesame thing.

(01:41):
But it's still the same amountof time.
It's always that same amount oftime.
It's how we feel about it, whatwe're telling ourselves about
that day.
So maybe that last day at work, before vacation just drags on
and on and on, and you're justready to go.

(02:02):
But then when you're out andyou're on vacation, those days
seem to fly by.
It's all in how you're thinkingabout it.
When you're at work, you'relike, okay, I need this day to
be over because my vacationstarts and I want to get home
and finish packing, get ready,go to bed so I can be up early
the next day to get on thatplane or to start your road

(02:24):
trip.
And when you're on vacation, you're having fun and you're in
the moment and you're enjoyingit, and you're looking forward
to the next thing.
Or you're really relaxed andenjoying yourself and it's going
by quickly.
Right.
So it's all in how you perceiveit, because it's the same, it's

(02:46):
the same amount of time.
It's a Monday or it's aTuesday, or it's a Saturday.
Same number of hours, a numberof minutes.
Let's think about money, cash,money.
I know a lot of us may notcarry it as often anymore, but
think about a hundred dollarsbill versus five 20.
It's still the same amount ofmoney and spending power, I

(03:12):
don't know about you, but I feeldifferently about a hundred
dollars bill than I do aboutfive 20 when it comes to
actually spending and handingthem over.
I feel like once I hand overthat a hundred dollars bill,
it's gone quicker it hitsdifferent for some reason that a
hundred dollars bill, eventhough it's the same amount as
five 20, it's the same spending.

(03:34):
I'm a little more reluctant tohand it over than to hand over
several twenties or all of thetwenties.
For some reason.
There's a perception in my mindthat it's different that a
hundred dollars bill versusthose five twenties, and I feel
like.
Once I have spent that ahundred dollars bill, once I

(03:54):
break that bill, it just goes somuch faster and it's still a
hundred dollars.
It's still a hundred dollarsworth of volume power, whether
it's the five 20 or the ahundred dollars bill.
So again, perception, and thatcould just be me, my thing, but
it's the story I'm tellingmyself.

(04:15):
It's how I'm thinking about.
That a hundred dollars, and Imean, throw in a gift card.
If it's a hundred dollars on agift card, that feels different
to me than the a hundred dollarsbill or the five 20, and that
could be because somebody gaveme that gift card.
And so then it has differentmeaning, But it really is still

(04:39):
all the same.
It's a hundred dollars with thesame buying power.
So now think about.
Time and how you spend yourdays.
The days are the same.
This is the same number ofhours.
We talked about that.
So a Saturday is a Saturday, and you could have a Saturday
where you're productive and youhad a plan going into a weekend

(05:02):
and you get your plan done.
And that plan could either beto have fun, spend it with
friends out and aboutfrolicking.
Or that plan could be to be athome and clean, top to bottom,
or to be at home and organizeand get all your tax records
ready.
But it's what you intended todo and what you envisioned for

(05:26):
yourself.
So when you accomplish thosethings and you lay your head
down on the pillow that night.
You feel good about that day?
You feel like, yes, I did thethings that I said I was gonna
do the things that I wanted todo, versus a Saturday when you
wake up with no direction, butyou feel like there are a lot of
things you should be doing andbecause you don't have any

(05:49):
direction, you're slow to get itdone, or you don't get anything
done because you spend a lot oftime thinking about it and in
the words of Texans fixing to dosomething about it.
And not doing anything.
It's a lot of thinking,planning, ruminating, wishing,
but no action.

(06:10):
And when you go to bed thatnight, you feel differently.
You have that list runningthrough your head of the coulds
and the shoulds that are leftfrom the day.
And it's all perception.
It's still a Saturday, but it'show you feel about the Saturday

(06:30):
and how you spin it.
So let's take that.
And look at it from the lens ofyour life.
Are you living your life withintention and purpose and with a
plan and a vision?
And most days, living into thatplan and vision, carrying that

(06:51):
out and laying your head down onthe pillow and thinking, yes, I
made some progress todaytowards that plan and that
vision for my life.
Or are you spending most dayswishing something would happen?
Wishing things were different, feeling stuck and not knowing
how to get started.
And when you lay your head downon the pillow, it's.

(07:12):
Feels like another day gone, another opportunity gone where
you're not making any progressbecause it does not have to feel
that way.
That is perception too, becauseit's still the day passing by a
day in your life.

(07:33):
It's how you feel about thatday.
That's different.
And what I want to convey toyou today is that you can
control how you feel about thatday, how you feel about every
day by being.
Intentional about how you goabout the day by having a vision
of what you want to create, ofwhat you wanna do, a vision of

(07:57):
who you want to be in that day,and then taking the actions to
live into that vision, live intothat person that you wanna be,
to do the things that you wannado, and.
I know it's, I may be making itsound simple and it is, and I

(08:20):
think where it gets complicatedand mucked up with an M is when
the vision, the things that we,we are supposed to do, don't
align with what we really wannado and our true vision in.
Our soul, it's maybe the visionof what we think we should be

(08:45):
doing, um, or what we thinkother people expect from us, and
trying to fit into that andlive into that and create that
when it's not what.
Speaks to our soul, not what wewant in our soul.
Because if you are living yourlife and doing the things that

(09:12):
light you up, that you can'tstop thinking about that.
And thinking about him, itmakes you happy.
It, it makes you want to get upand go do something.
If you're doing those thingsand living the life and pursuing
those things, then that's whenyou feel fulfilled and like

(09:34):
you're living your purpose andyour passion and it doesn't feel
hard or a struggle or likesomething that you should do.
It is what you want to bedoing, and the energy that you
bring to that is different.
And so your thoughts, the wayyou feel about it is different.

(09:55):
Your perception of that day, ofthat life will be different
than if you are just goingthrough the motions and living a
life of shoulds, so that's whatI want you to think about.
How are you perceiving yourlife?

(10:18):
What is your perception of yourlife?
If you stop and think about it?
How do you feel about it inyour bones?
Does it speak to you?
And when it speaks to you, isit uplifting or is it nagging?
That's, that's what I want youto think about when you hear the

(10:40):
voice in your head talkingabout your life, is it nagging?
Is it heavy?
Is it weighing you down or isit encouraging and lifting you
up and full of purpose?
If it's the nagging voicethat's bringing you down.
Ask yourself, why is it thatvoice?

(11:00):
Is it your voice?
Is it society's voice?
Is it your family's voice?
And how can you start to turnthat down?
Is there anything from thatvoice, those voices?
That you want to keep, that youneed anything in there that's

(11:22):
serving you, if not, how can youbegin to let it go and tap into
your voice?
Your authentic, true voice?
I would say the best way is tospend some time journaling and
trying to tap into your visionfor your life what you really

(11:44):
want.
I've said it before, just letyour mind go and let your pin
flow.
Just a stream of consciousnesswriting.
Just let it out.
And if you don't wanna journal, just start to ask yourself
questions.
Why do I have that thought?
Why do I think I should bedoing blank?
Why do I think I have to docertain things?

(12:06):
Why do I think I have to beblank?
Why do I think I am?
Fill in the blank and justcontinue to question it.
Maybe it's something that waspassed down.
Maybe it's who you thought youwanted to be, but now with time
and new information andexperiences under your belt,

(12:30):
it's not who you wanna be.
It's not your authentic self.
Question, the thoughtsquestion.
The should another question youcould ask yourself is, what is
my perfect day?
And how close was today oryesterday or the day before to
my perfect day?
What would it take to be livingmy perfect day that's a great

(12:53):
place to start.
Those are great questions toanswer, to start to unlock that
authentic voice so then you canstart to live that life.
Move towards that life.
Start to do the things thatwill get you that life.
It is about living on purposeevery day.

(13:14):
And if you need help with that,I've created the Five Day Binge
Your Life Challenge.
It helps you engage in and movetowards creating your life on
purpose, creating somethingpurposeful.
Creating something meaningfulto you, doing something
meaningful in your life and notjust hanging out, wishing,

(13:39):
wondering, watching.

It gets you in your lifeworking towards that thing that
you want.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
