stuff happening here in Philadelphia, but did not factor in

(00:56):

All right, let's do this Sam Austry back at the
studio co host with me every single Thursday, rights for
the folks over at the Score Hop on the stream, Sam,

(01:28):
if you could love to get you involved in this
conversation because I am going to pivot, as they say,
shift gears right, Bryant, little f one there, little Nascar
as I'm going up to Pokono on Sunday and I
want to talk some NBA hoops with you, sir. So
with that being said, Sam Ostri, are you with me?

Speaker 1 (01:46):
I'm with you. You got me you.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Beautiful, I got you loud and clear. We're working through it.
You know, it's a working progress. That's all out there.
You are on the screen too as well as that's
a little delayed. Nice you look great. You've been You've
been working out man at the F one the red
carpet pics is everybody had something to say about your chest.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
I I I I did hear that too. Hear that too.
I've been working out a little bit.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
I don't want to say like I'm in the gym
seven days a week, but I like to get from
there four or five days a week if I can.
I gotta admit that people were giving me were giving
me grief for that because I was puffing my chest
out a little bit. I wasn't doing that intentionally, but
I had the hides and hands behind my back.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
And I was puffing my chest. Debt, my chest debt.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
All right, Powers, if you could give me a little
juice in my headset just a little bit, thank you, buddy.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
All Right.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
We got Sam Austri with us, and of course he
does all things NBA for us and then some. So Sam,
I want to start with game six, and and you know,
I think we often get carried away and it's always
about like who ultimately gets the final laugh and who
wins it, and but man, I can't help and it's
not over, and I think by forcing a game seven,

(02:49):
but I I just so blown away by this Pacers
team and everything that they have brought, this whole series
and of course this whole NBA playoff, run us together
and to be able to force the game seven. And
you know, look, a part of me last night was
really disappointed with Oklahoma City and the way that they
played that game. But even if you got an A

(03:10):
plus performance from Oklahoma City, I don't think that they
were being Indiana Pacers were ready, that building believed, and
of course they are now back to OKC for a
do or die, win it All Game seven, And I
got bad news for all Oakama City fans the previous
two game sevens after the team has forced the Game
seven being down three to two translation meaning the team

(03:31):
who won Game six they went on to win Game
seven as well. So, Sam, big picture conversation about the Pacers.
To me, granted, nobody's won a championship, that's the story.
The fact that we have a Game seven and the
Pacers have just shown out every single time with their
backs against the wall, and now this is one for everything,

(03:53):
Do or Die Game seven on Sunday night.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Ok See, it doesn't get better than this.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
This is why we watch the Raptor and the Rockets,
and even though the Rockets had a great season, this
is why we watch the Raptors and the Hawks in January.
This is why we watch those March blowouts. It's from
moments like this, the fifth Game seven in the last
thirty five years. It's that special and that rare of

(04:17):
a moment, the first since twenty sixteen, and you just
said it the third time. It's actually the Lakers were
down three to two, The Heat were down three two
and twenty thirteen, the Lakers were in twenty ten, and
then the Cavs were down three to two in twenty sixteen.
All came back from a three to two deficit in
that series to win it, and now the Pacers have
opportunity to do the same. But it doesn't get better

(04:38):
than this. This is the best moment in sports, the
best story in sports. When you have a historically great
thunder team that just won sixty eight games, second best
net rating in NBA history during the regular season only
to the ninety five ninety six Bowls, a historically great defense,
shay as, the opportunity to cap off season one of
the great individual seasons we've seen a long time, where

(04:59):
you could win regular season MVP and finals MVP for
the first time since Lebron in twenty thirteen. And then
on the other side you have the Pacers. You have
the Pacers, a team that has most would be the
most improbable underdog championship run in a long long time.
So this is this is what the NBA seasons made of.
It's for Game seven is for moments like this.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Amen to that Sam well Well put and yes, I
want to ask you, did.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
You have six or seven in this series? What'd you have?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Nine to five? I had, ok it five.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Somebody from the Gambler Gang was saying seven.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
I think it was Mark Henry. It was Mark Henry.
Mark and Sean Bernard deserves credit for the Pacers. Love
to both those guys.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Okay, well, yeah, credit where credit is due. And fantastic call.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
By both of those guys, because I thought Oklahoma City
would have ended it last night.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
I did.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Haven't been all that good since essentially Game two of
this series was able to pull out of victory. Games
one and two happened on TJ McConnell, though, won't lie
about that. That and Nobi topping and let's let's go
ahead and transition.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Over to TJ.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I am blown away by everything he has bringing to
the table. And yes, I am surprised. I know what
TJ has been able to do in his professional career.
We watched it here for a disaster of franchise. But man,
we're talking about the NBA Finals. We're talking about twenty
five minutes off the bench. He has twelve shots. He
pulled down nine rebounds last night, nine one offensive board.

(06:26):
He had six assists again off the bench in limited role,
and this dude is not just making a difference in
the game, he is putting such a.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Dent to the point that Oklahoma City Dare, I say,
has to come up with some sort of defensive scheme
for Game seven.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
When McConnell's on the floor. He is a menace out
there right now. And I did not see that coming.
Unbelievable performance, TJ McConnell. He has gone over his player
point prop in all six games and just continues to
tear it up.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
And he has a ton of fun to watch. Sam.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
I'd love for the Sixers to get a guy like that.
How can they get a guy like that?

Speaker 4 (07:03):
It's a good question. You know, they definitely didn't have
anyone like that back in the.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Day, right.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Here's what I'll say about TJ McConnell.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
He embodies everything that is the Indiana Pacers. This is
a team and a group that was a complete underdog
the last three series against the Cavs. They were an
underdog against the Knicks, they were an underdog in this
series against the thunder They've been an underdog in every
single game. The odds makers and the books have given
them no respect. They've been an underdog in every game

(07:31):
despite winning half of them.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
And that's who TJ. McConnell is.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
This is a six foot white dude who's carved out
an exceptional NBA career for himself.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Those don't exist in the NBA.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Six foot white dudes do not exist in the NBA
who are not absurd athletes, and he's not. And to
have the career that he's had to be, not just
a bench player, a serious impact player on a team
that is one game away from capturing the first NBA
Finals in franchise history. You can't say enough good things
about his his grit, his his underdog approach. And that's

(08:03):
also how the Indiana paces of it approach his entire playoffs.
And that's why they're in this position where they just
smacked Okay See at Homeland or the pacer at home.
They just smacked Okac last night. And I have an
opportunity to win the nation, to win the win the title.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Yeah, it's unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Right back to you, how disappointed were you in Oklahoma
City's performance last night?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
You know, I don't want to make it to be
easier than it is.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Because I understand that these guys are professionals in the
Pacers deserve to.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Be in this spot.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
They got some great players with Siakam Haliburt was limited
to a point but still look great out there and
flashes fourteen. He finished with, again, you're getting a great
coaching performance for Carlisle, who's already won a championship, a
great playoff the bench. That place was on fire. So
I'm not trying to make it easier than what it
should be. Number one, but number two. Man, win that
game and you win your first NBA championship, they will

(08:55):
talk about you for the rest of your life.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
If you lose Game.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Seven, nobody will remember anything about the Oklahoma City Thunder ever, ever, ever, again.
Nobody will talk about this team and how dominant they were.
Everybody will say how fraudulent they were for them to
lose an NBA championship that they literally had in their hands.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
How disappointed were you and their performance last night Game six.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
People doubted okayc all season, and the reason was because
of their youth and because of their inexperience and so
far from most of these playoffs, including a Game seven
win over the Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Their youth and inexperience.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
They've overcome all of that because they've been dominant through
stretches and they've so much depth and so much top
end talent where that hasn't mattered. But what you've seen
in every single series this playoffs is their youth has
shown up, and it showed up in a big spot.
They were up three to zero and the Grizzlies, going
back to the first game of the series and or
excuse me two oh, and the Grizzlies in Game three.
They were down thirty points in that game and they

(09:47):
ended up coming back and win because they're much better
than the Grizzlies, But that shows their lack of focus
when they have an opportunity to seize a special moment.
Same thing happened a couple times against the Nuggets. They
just took their foot off the gas, including in that
Game six, which forced the Game seven, which Oklahoma City
ultimately won. And then you go back to last series
when they're up three to zero on the Wolves, they
get killed by the Wolves. This is a team that

(10:07):
looked young last night, and that was it was a
team that lacked focused, they lacked energy. Really, they were
up ten to two from the game and from the
opening tip and then since then it was all the pacers.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
The pacers flipped the script on them.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Where the pacers were the team turning okay see over
a ton okay see had twenty one turnovers. That is
very uncharacteristic for them, a team that does not turn
the ball over. So they looked young, and their youthfulness
and inexperience showed up, and it has other times in
the playoffs that we've seen, so I don't necessarily means
that disqualifies them from actually winning a game seven because
of their youth, but it showed that lack of focus

(10:40):
and that lack of energy showed last night.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
All right, Sam Austree back at the studio.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
I'm live from Mixfinity Liv right now outside eleven hundred
social home of our Green Lesion tailgates every Sunday for
the Eagles home games, actually every Eagles home game, excuse me,
as they're often playing Monday night and so on and
so forth. It is a zoo down here. It is
just craziness. There's cops everywhere. This game is about to end,
so of course they know that these soccer fanatics are

(11:07):
about to empty into the streets.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Over here, soccer fans are nuts nuts.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Yeah, and that stadium is filled and it's it's rocket
so they're being prepared for it. But oh no, I'll
get your butt down here. Phillies and Mets. Game one
going down this evening, six forty five. First pitch Zach
Wheeler on the mound fills a big time minus two
Zho three favorite. Sam and I are talking all things
NBA Finals. Just get a look at game seven. But
before we do that, I'll tell you what. Mike Powers,

(11:34):
who's helping out behind the scenes doing a bang up
job again Powers Production. It is hot out here, the
sun was shining, and I'll tell you what. It's a
good thing that I did bring my wear SPF because
if you're looking for some protection that actually works and
feels great, wear SPF by PGA pro John Justin Thomas
has you covered on and off the course, dermatologist tested

(11:54):
sweat resistant. It's broad spectrum SPF that won't mess up
your swing or your skin.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
How about that? From the first t to everyday life, protect.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yourself like the pros shop now at where spf dot com.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
That's where SPF dot com.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
They're available wherever you get all of your suntand lotion
and products including Amazon Stay Sunsafe All Year Long Wear,
SPF dot Com. I got Mike Can Ready to go
Big time game of course, all week and long Big
Series Here at Citizens Bank Park and we are live
at it'xfinity Live. Now say them back to Game seven here,
Pacers seven and a half point Dogs two fifteen and

(12:30):
a half. Okay, see of course, home favorite. We knew
that that would have been the case. However, are you
surprised that this did not reach the double digit mark
as far as ten eleven and a half, which is
the highest.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Number we've seen.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
I believe in Game two we saw that number at
eleven and a half, which ultimately the Oklahoma City thunder
blew the doors off the Pacers and did cover that number. Now,
I'm curious where we stand as far as this conversation
is concerned with you.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Where are we at right now at seven and a half.
How are you feeling about?

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Oh, but the Indiana Pacers going down there at plus
two thirty five and winning the NBA Championships.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Sir, It's funny because the books are finally starting respecting
the paces a little bit, but the respect level still
shows that they're only there are seven and a half
point dogs. It opened at eight and a half. It's
been bet down to seven and a half. That when
it opened at eight and a half, that was the
largest game seven favorite in NBA or game seven line

(13:25):
in NBA history. It was that big because because that's
just an absurd number for a game seven. You go
back look at some of the game sevens. Like I
said earlier, there's only been five in NBA history, but
a lot of them been close. You go back and
look at that twenty sixteen Warriors Cavs game we know
with the Lebron Chase down block, with the Kyrie Irving shot,
that was a close game. The twenty thirteen Spurs heat game,

(13:45):
that was a close game. The Lakers Celtics in twenty ten,
very competitive game. It's rare when we get the game
sevens and they're not competitive.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
So you see that.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Kind of in the second round of first round where
you get a game seven and then it's ultimately the blowout,
kind of like Oka sees Game seven againstgainst the Nuggets
in the second round. They just blew the doors off
the Nuggets. You don't see that in NBA finals. I mean,
this is it. This is everything you had, you empty
the can, it's the last game of the regular season,
everything you possibly have on the line for world championship.
I'm shocked at this number is still seven and a half.

(14:15):
Odds makers have disrespected the Pacers this entire player form
and this entire series. Really, so anyone who's been a
big Pacer supporter like Mark Henry, like Sean or should
have been profiting because they just have no respect for
the Pacers. And I think this is another test where
it's like, yes, the thunder have one or excuse me,

(14:36):
have covered every game they've won in this series, which
is three games, of course, but the Pacers are too
good to discount where it's a seven and a half
point spread, I think this is a super tight, contested game,
is gonna be electric atmosphere in Okay.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
See.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
So I think that seven and half is a little
too much and just shows the disrespect where the odds
makers have been disrespectful to the Pacers the entire season,
the entire playoffs, this entire series, and they'll be disrespectful
to them right until the very end game seven fertile.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Well, I'll tell you what one thing I did grab
was Pascal Siakam eleven to one?

Speaker 3 (15:06):
As far as.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
NBA Finals MVP is concerned, he is now down to
plus three seventy. Oh yeah, that's my father in law,
Greg delivering, delivering the goods.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
There.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
We'll put that one down right there. The Kings in
the house. We'll get those guys up in a little bit.
But here's the deal, Pascal Siakam right now plus three seventy. Again,
this was my angle. I'm not, you know, Einstein over here,
by no means, I'm not trying to tell you that
I'm the sharpest sports gambler. But I did say, you
know what, I would rather take a piece of Pascal
Siakam at eleven to one than Pacers to go on

(15:38):
and money line or cover the spread, because if they
do win this series, Pascal Siakam is most likely going
to be the MVP.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Could it be haliburtn sure?

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Could the voters possibly be tossing teacher McConnell's name out
there at one hundred to one?

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Maybe they could get cute again.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
He's got to have a monster performance and be a
true difference maker in game seven for them to win.
And if that is the case, but I'm gonna put
I put my money where my mouth was, took a
little piece, small sprinkle on Siakam at eleven to one.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
He's now down to plus three seventy. That's a good
grab by me. I'll go ahead and tip my cap
to myself on that one.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
I'll tip my cap to you as well, because that's
an awesome play.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Jalen Williams is an eleven to one right now, Haliburton
eleven to one, and in the favorite, of course is
Sga at minus.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Two to five. Any shot McConnell has a play in
this No.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
I mean, like we talked about yesterday, the voters like
to get cute. That would be getting absurdly cute if
they somehow gifted McConnell the MVP here. I mean, he's
been really impactful, but as a bench player, every one
MVP at finals MVP probably not Igodala was in that
starting lineup I believe for most of that series against
against the Cavs in twenty fifteen. So I don't think

(16:47):
a bench players ever won MVP, and I'd be shocked.
I do love the Pascal Siakam play because if the
voters gave Siakam the MVP in the Eastern Conference Finals.
When Haliburn had a game where you're two thirty two,
fifteen and twelve and zero turnovers, how could they possibly
reward Halliburton in this series? And it's good for the
Pacers that it was a blowout game last night, because
I don't think Haliburton looked injured at all. I know

(17:08):
people were arguing with me a little bit, and they
could they saw that Halliburton was moving gingerly or whatever.
I didn't see that. I thought he moved really well.
But the Pacers benefited from a blow up because they
could only play him twenty three minutes. Only had to
play him twenty three minutes, which which presumably we've got
more rest than he is another two days off before
that game seven, so that Cash should heal up even more.

(17:29):
But I think Pascal Siakam has been the best player
of these last few games, and I think this is
his to win if the Pacers closed out, unless we
see a historic performance from Haliburn.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Yeah, I'm with you there.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Great stuff from Sam Austrey once again read him over
at the score. Fantastic job behind the scenes helping us
get this show on the radio. Of course, Powers and
Company behind the scenes a true Powers production. As this
game is led up over there across a link in
financial field, it looks like Flamingos beat the Blue teat
Nikid Chelsea three to one. That that might be a

(18:00):
little bit of an upset Grace.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
This is this is a preview. This is all next summer.
That's why they're doing this a Club World Cup. It's
a preview to got the clubs involved for next summer.
This is gonna be our entire world next summer when
you have all these international teams and crazy international fans
coming in.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Oh, you think we're making it the twenty twenty six.
That's cute. That's cute.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
What are you reading the news these days? You read
the news exactly?

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Hey man, great stuff. Of course, we'll get you back
on before we get out of here. I got you
till five o'clock. I think Power is gonna be hanging
out and doing some fun stuff. He's got some Mets
friends in the building. Yeah, we might have to put
a stop today. I don't know if these microphones are
gonna work with anybody that's gonna be preaching any Mets gospel.
I kid, we got number of love. You know who
I do have love for though, of course I got

(18:43):
love for powers.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
I got love.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
From my guy, Sheffield Shuffler, who rolled in with the
biggest freaking hat I've ever seen in my life.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
This thing is a monster.

Speaker 2 (18:55):

dot com?

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Could you show the people? Could you show them? Dude?
That thing is.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Sheffield Shuffler. Pete is gonna be joining me for the
next hour. We're gonna have a lot of fun. Of course,
we're gonna talk some baseball here. We're gonna get into
a little bit of the Cubbies as they are looking good.
Of course, we got some fireworks that are happening out
there in the West Coast between San Diego and the
La Dodgers, and can we get a little bit of
that tonight between the Mets and the Phillies.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
He gotta love it. We got a lot to discuss.
