Speaker 2 (00:43):
Sam Ox. Are you ready to go? I'm ready to go?
All right, Here we go.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
The three two pitch swung on, hitting the air center field.
It's deep, going back bar Sea to the track at
the wall. He jumps, it's gone into the hedges and
it's an all time Major League record for Kyle Schwarmer,
his fifty fifth home run of the season. And it
swung on, rocketed to right, high and deep and on
(01:09):
its way into the second deck, no doubt or from Swarmer,
his second of the night. Kyle Schwarmer with home run
number fifty six on the season. First pitch swung on,
hit the center field, hit well, it's slicing, it's carrying.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Give me a man going into a boat pen three
run homer Aaron Judges, number fifty. There you go, here's
the draft to right center field. He is gonna do it.
Get here, baby, good back home.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Runs of the Captain his second tonight, number fifty one.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Now the white up been the.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
One one swinging the drive deep the right field. Holy
slow squares is gonna land up protect right field Number
fifty nine for cal rally, the chance of MVP, MVP,
the stretch of the pitch, the cow swinging a drive
deep the right field. There it is number sixty. The
(02:10):
modern day bambido has just tied Bay Bruce record of
sixty home runs for third all time in American League history.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Lord entertained, Yes, Sam Austry mains League baseball hitting in
a big way. Oh by the way, we still got
four games left, four days left. Oh by the way,
still plenty of playoff spots up for grabs.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
I think four if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
We know the final wildcard spot in the Nation leagu
which is pretty important for the fightings, is still up
for grabs. I think the Mets are holding that down
at this point time. The Reds have lost back to
back games as they battled back once Schemes was removed
last night. Unfortunately they did come up short against the
Pitts Pirates. We got a lot to discuss, but man,
let's start there. Sam ostrich chanbrace with you here live
(03:06):
Daily Ticket. Luke Rkaney will join us in just a
little bit. But this is this is awesome. Like if
you are a sports fan, and I realize that the
Seattle Mariners are probably not on the television screen for
you ninety eight percent of the time, no doubt about it.
But like if you're a sports fan, just a general
(03:28):
fan of all things sports, cal Rawley and what he
has done this year, continuing to do sixty home runs,
it has it has to have your attention.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
It's insane. He's a switch hitting catcher.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Oh by the way, for the Sarah Seattle Mariners who
won the division, and he's doing things that nobody has
ever done before. He's blown away the the all time
home run mark for catchers in a season. You look
at some of the great catchers that you had a
Perez with the Royals, had the number, had the lead
Johnny Bench over the years, Piazza, He's smoking all sixty
(04:06):
home runs for a switch hitting catcher. And yes, last week,
last Monday, on this show, I dipped my toe into
the al MVP waters would you take plus four to
seventy five?
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Cal Rawley's favorite?
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Then, of course he is, but in that show because
it was crazy because they were trading barbs. Even last
night as Judge hit two home runs as you heard. Oh,
thank you to the Yankees Radio network, Mariners Radio network
in the Phillies Radio network, thank you for the calls there.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
But it was.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Crazy just to watch, like the al MVP market go
up and down as Judge hit a home run, all right,
and actually Rally hit home run, and then Judge hit
another one, and then Rally hit his sixtieth and now
he is a monthst a pretty good favorite. We'll go
over to those numbers at a second, but it's been tremendous
And just as a general sports fan, this isn't it
is playoff baseball, but no, the playoff baseball doesn't start
(05:02):
till September thirtieth, officially right here, right now, this has
to be captivating your attention.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
I feel like we're numb to the stuff that Aaron
Judge and Shoe Otani are doing at this point, especially
Showe as a pitcher, and he's emerged back as a
great pitcher.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Again this late in the season.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
But what Kyle Raley is doing and what Kyle Schwarber
a doing, that stuff's incredible. I mean, this is only
the third time in MLB history that at least four
players have hit at least fifty home runs. The last
time was two thousand and one, and before that, nineteen
ninety eight, and those obviously were the steroid error. So
it's a little even more improbable that four guys have
hit fifty plus this year. But what Kyle Schwarber and
Kyle Raley are doing, because we haven't seen it from
(05:41):
those two guys at this level, is incredible, especially Kyle Schwarber,
who hit his fifty six last night, two.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Away from tying Ryan Howard.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
Yeah, for the all time home run record in one season,
fifty eight, that would be three away from breaking it.
We'll see if he chased that down with I believe
you said four games remaining, But what those two guys
are doing is even more impressive at this point.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
And I'd give both them MVPs.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
I mean, I know show he's gonna win in the NL,
but I would give Kyle Schwarber the MVP, and there's
a case there's a case I would give Kyle Raley
the MVP and the al over Aaron Judge. So it's
good to see his favorite, but I'm not convinced he's
necessarily gonna.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Know, know, the hard part is the voters, and you're right,
and Judges had Both of them are deserving. Both show
Hey and Kyle Schwerber are deserving of the MVP. And
I saw you Chris Chris Russo, mad Dog on television
today said that if he had a vote, he'd vote
for Schwarber. It still is a possibility, and especially if
he continues to hit bombs the way he does it.
(06:38):
It's just insane, Like that second one, He's smashed deep
into the night, no doubt, no doubts, and he's been
doing it all seasonal.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
With the al thing.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
I heard Jeff Passon talking about his vote, and there
is a hard argument to make for Cayl Raleigh when
you're comparing him and all the other numbers to Aaron Judge.
So you look at batting average and all these other awards,
slung percentage, Judge is so far ahead of that's fine
rally and all those categories. And there's also the voter
(07:08):
fatigue factor, which we see in a lot of m
VP races. So I think it should go to Cal
and Kyle Schwarber, but I'm not convinced it will.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
But here's the deal.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
As Matthew Berry is down there at East Carolina, this
is insane. Yeah, ec is on tonight taking on army
Thursday night football and college. Uh true story right there?
Speaker 2 (07:28):
That star. Wait, isn't it serious? Isn't I wasn't. I
wasn't gonna call you a lum school that store? Right?
I got arrested behind that store?
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Right it was it called the Pirate Well no, it
used to be like, uh, what was the convenience mark there?
Speaker 2 (07:44):
True story? You're ready for this one time out? Time out?
Speaker 1 (07:47):
We're calling I'm major League Baseball? True story. And this
was crazy because I ended up going to jail for
a night. In jail, I spent the night in how
many hours? A couple hours because they claimed that I
went to the bathroom behind the store.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
It's a public urination.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
I got pulled over in a cab. I got into
the cab. I swear to you, I did not go
to the bathroom. I swear to you to this day.
This is two thousand and two. I swear to you,
I did not go to the bathroom. Why would they
think that you were going to the back that was
in It was insane, dude. I'm in the cab going home.
(08:28):
It's like one forty five in the morning. The cab
is getting pulled over. The cab driver goes, what did
you do? I go, I didn't do anything. He picked
me up on the corner. Next thing you know, the
cops are like, step out, put me in hands.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
I saw you.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
They think that they saw you go to the bathroom
and then get into the cab, and they followed the cab.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Correct Jesus, Yeah, dude. It was crazy and I ended
up going to the tank. They're drunk, tank man.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
I was.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
You know, it's a college kid two thousand and two.
I was feeling pretty good. But I swear I did
not go to the bathroom. I swear to this day
that I got pulled over. I got arrested for not
going to the bad cuffs and everything. Oh yeah, they
cuffed me the whole night. I didn't fight or I
I was in like aggressive tours. You get out of jail.
Next they let me go. They were like, okay, you
can leave.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Now, bail or anything. No arraignment.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
I mean I think there was a bail. I think
it's somebody they just realized, like, you didn't actually do that.
I guess they were like, no, I there was no
surveillance tapes. And then I ended up because you know,
I think my friend had a father that was in
the you know, the public, not a public, a lawyer.
And he's like, look, I just talked to him. Here's
(09:37):
the fine, just pay this and it will go away.
And I didn't want to.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
No, no one goes to jail anymore for public urination.
If you piss outside and cop finds you, you're just
getting fine. You're not going to the tank. They for
public urination. And they locked me up.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
That's crazy. And they pulled over a cab. I got
pulled over. And that was last night at East Carolina.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
No, I wish it was, but now there was plenty
more after that, and I'm I still feeling it to
this day.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
No, but what a great time it was down there.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
But yes, behind that store that they just had on television,
which is now some other convenience mart, that's where I
ended up getting arrested, or that's where they claimed I
did my work down there. Anyways, fun trip down memorily
in East Carolina. Four point favorites against Army. I do
expect East Carolina have a little bit better of a showing.
They got beat up pretty good against a really big
(10:24):
BYU team but I Army's not going to back down.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Army.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Yeah, Armies already had a good win this season, so
I don't know. I think that's gonna be a tough game,
all right. Anyways, back to the Major League Baseball storylines
that are happening fast and furious, and there's so many
to enjoy. And you know, cal Rawley has my attention
more than anything because Sam, it comes back to trusting
your eyes. I know that these voters sometimes find themselves
(10:52):
voting for players because of ex stat or this storyline
or whatever.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
It may be.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
But can't we just look at at the position that
he is playing. Cal Rawley strapping on the equipment day
in day out, handling the pitching staff, handling the relievers
that come in, leading the Seattle Mariners to their first
Division championship in twenty four seasons, the first time since
(11:20):
two thousand and one the Mariners have won the AL West.
It's not because of anybody else, It's because of cal Raley. So, like,
can't we trust our as a voter? I'm asking you
just trust Judge is amazing show heyes, amazing, but like,
realize the most valuable player to that team and then
(11:40):
extrapulate that conversation to the league. I just feel like
it's a no brainer. Cal Rawley has to be the
AL MVP.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
It's the hardest sport to evaluate value, so they should
probably just change the award because in the NBA and NFL,
it's pretty easy to evaluate value. It's what would this
team look like without this player? And there's a lot
of metrics you can find with the NBA and MVP
conversation in the NFL because it's usually just a quarterback
who wins MVP, and of course they're the most valuable
(12:09):
position in football. With MLB and baseball, it's so different
because how how can you really evaluate one player and
his impact on the team where one player can't impact
the sport the way people can in other sports. Obviously,
cal Raley has been amazing. The Mariners wouldn't be as
go without him. The Yankees wouldn't be as good without
(12:29):
Aaron Judge, Phillies wouldn't be as good this year without
Kyle Schwarber. But they also aren't in their spots solely
because of those one players, because it's just again, it's
just one player, and one player can't impact the sport
in that way. So all that to say, when it
comes to baseball and comes to the MVP conversation, it's
not really the most valuable player. It should just be
like the most improbable best player. And what I mean
(12:53):
my most improbable is who's had the most improbable run
this year, and that's Kyle Raley. Everything he's doing as
a catcher, as a switchhirter that you're talking about, it's
been so impressive, breaking history.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
It's been such an improbable run for him that.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
He deserves the award over God like Judge, who's obviously
one of the best players in baseball as a perennial
candidate year in and year out.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Yeah, it's it's insane to see what the Mariners are doing.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
And again, like I said, it comes back to two
thousand and one, where this is a team that has
hasn't had success as far as winning the division.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
The Ashers have.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Been front and center of course two thousand and one.
Sam Austrey, how old were you in two thousand and.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Ward that year?
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Wow, I was saying, I mean when they won the division,
I was like six months all right.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
So the number one song at the time was that's
the last time the Mariners have won the division fallen
by Alicia Keys.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Love Alicia Keys, Shrek the original Shrek was released. Julio
Rodriguez was just as old as you, eight months old
each ye roh was in his rookie year.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
He was. He only won that division once with them. Yeah,
that's interesting.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
The first Harry Potter film was the number one movie.
And finally the iPod had not yet been released.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
That's crazy. Two thousand and.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
One, twenty four, two thousand and one, twenty four, great
years since then, how about it.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
ECU proud down there, Let's go great times, Great times.
East Carolina should have Jansen on pop on for a
little visit Memory Lane. Luke Arcane's gonna join us in
a little bit. He just he had some duties to
do it with his full time job. And uh yeah,
(14:36):
you're good, bro, as he's texted me.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Now, I'm like, I totally understand.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
But we'll get Luke up because of course, the Phillies,
you know, bringing it back to what Schoreber has done
this season, and I get it locally, that's the storyline.
It's all about the Phillies. Don't get me wrong. I
just I'm such a sports fan that like it this
is what we do. We love this stuff, whether it's NBA, NFL, whatever,
college football, fantasy, like National Conversation, I love it.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
And Cal Rawley is just insane.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
And oh, by the way, last Monday doing the show
started making the case. I think he hit two the
night before and I'm just like plus four seventy five.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
That flipped. That flipped quickly.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
At the end of my show went three to one,
so it went from four to seventy five. I would
not have pulled the trigger at plus three hundred, should
have still, but I said at plus I need to
dig up the audio so I could be like yo.
They put it out as a promo because I said,
you're crazy. If you don't take a slap at plus
fourth seventy five. Anything can happen over these next two weeks.
He can go off, Judge can go into a slump.
(15:42):
Judge can get hurt. The Mariners if they win the West,
they had a big time series against.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
The Ashtros coming up.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
There were so many reasons why you need to look
at Raleigh, and everything has played out exactly how I
said it would on last Monday at plus four seventy five.
Now the hard part, the voters, and as we discuss,
so so I think.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
Rally is a great case, and that's an amazing pull
by you at that price, and he's favored now. So
obviously look at the value and say that's great. Yeah,
But when I'm looking at the voters talk about it,
the guys who actually have a vote right now, I
feel like I'm still seeing more people make the case
for Aaron Judge, And so that's why I still think
it's the rally is a lot of hurdles to clear
before we crown him. That that you're I'm a little
(16:23):
surprised that it's minus two hundred in rallies direct.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Minus two twenty right now, and it's just prisoner of
the moment with these odds because that's where the money's
going in. And exactly like I said, you followed it
last night, Judge hit a home run, it came, it
swung in his direction. Raleigh hits his first, it swung
in his direction, Judge hits another back in Judge, there
were some good people keeping up with a timeline that
I was paying attention to.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
So a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
But as I said, back over to the Phillies, Luke
Arcane is going to join us, I believe at three
thirties texting me right now in the middle of the show.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Sorry about three twenties, so you didn't call here in
two minutes.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
The big thing for me about the Phillies is we
put a bow on this regular season. Is just how
dominant they have been the numbers as far as starting
pitching is concerned. Yeah, Schwerber is catching all of our
attention because he's about to have an opportunity to break
the all time home run record. For that Ryan Howard
owns and that's a special deal. But this team has
(17:17):
now clinched the bye, which is perfect. You get that
little bit of a rest, you're at home, you got
a home field advantage. The Brewers are gonna be your
overall one seat. It is what it is. Not much
you could do there, tip your cap. They had a
great regular season. But Lozardo, the numbers that he was
putting up ten strikeouts last night. You know, you go
to of course Ranger and what he was able to do.
(17:37):
Christopher Sanchez and oh, by the way, when you total
Sanchez and Lozardo together with the strikeouts that they had
this year, if Zach Wheeler was healthy, Sam and he
made it to the end of this season, we could
potentially be talking about one of if not the I
swear to you, the numbers are that crazy. They are
(17:58):
one of the greatest starting rotations, if not the greatest
starting three pitchers in a starting rotation in Major League
Baseball history.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
And that didn't hit me this year, did it? You
did it for you?
Speaker 5 (18:11):
Not really, because I feel like there we was so
much skepticism to start the year and pessimism too based
on how last year ended, and essentially just bring the
whole team back. I really think it flipped around the
deadline when a you do exactly what every Philly fan
wanted to. Dave Dombrowski did a brilliant job bringing in
Harrison Bader as an extra bet and then bringing in
(18:32):
Duran as a closer, and we really needed a reliable closer.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Even though it gives up one the other night, he's
been an.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
Incredibly reliable closer and people trust him going into the playoffs,
and so that was what the team needed and we've
and they've fulfilled those needs at the deadline. So I
think post the deadline, the vibes and they continue to win.
Of course, we're really started to pick up and people
started to believe again, and now were at the point
where there's.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
A lot of belief coming into October.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
This team could win when the when the whole thing,
and there's been that the last two years and it's
ended disappointment and despair. But the hope is back and
it's for good reason, because they're playing their best baseball
over the last two to three months. Last year, that
was not the case. They were a middling team after
the All Star break. Last year, there was all those
signs of regression heading into the postseason. This team was
going to lose early, and I think we just ignored
(19:17):
all of those because, oh, this team has been coasting
the last two months.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Once again to the postseason. It'll be fine. But that
wasn't the case.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Obviously loose to the Mets in Divisional round after getting
the bye winning the division. This is different. They're playing
their best baseball the last couple months. July, August, September
into October is when they're playing their best. And that's
why I think the vibes have completely shifted in this
city backing this team. But we haven't probably acknowledged of
how dominant they've been because it took a while. It
took a while to get there because of how last
(19:44):
season ended.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
I have not even thought about it in this ballpark,
and shame on me.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
But like I knew it was a good team.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
I knew that they had a lot going in their favor,
especially since the the trade deadline. But when you start
to talk about what was Ardo did this year? Set
a career high two hundred and sixteen strikeouts, the most
by a lefty for the Phillies since Cliff Lee. We're
in Cliff Lee territory. Cliff Lee when he was pitching
for the Phillies, it was must see TV. He made
(20:13):
it look way too easy. And now Lizardo after his
ten strikeouts last night, Oh by the way, no walks,
seventh start this season with double digit strikeouts. Yeah, Jose,
all right? Hasus Lozardo? His season way over my head?
Did not even you know what?
Speaker 5 (20:28):
I think we deserve blame for that, the media, the fans, everything,
because when you talk about Aarda, he's been phenomenal this year.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
But what are like the key moments.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
We've been talking about him when he was tipping pitchers
to the Mets, when he blew those runs, when he
gets men on base, how much he struggled with men
on base, So we haven't actually highly the positives us
as a fan base and as the Philly media, we
always talk about the negative moments with azus Lozardo, even
though he's been one of the best pitchers in baseball
this year.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
All right, So anyways, let's let's keep it moving in
the Phillies conversation rolling on here for us and again
just from yesterday, the fact that Haysu Sozardo had the
season that he did, the only duo of teammates that
each have had two hundred strikeouts this year, Haysu Soizzardo
and Christopher Sanchez.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
And Zach Wheeler, let me real quick.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Well.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
Also, the other thing is, but while you're looking that up,
uh huh, they've been so good.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
With men going down.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
We just talked about Zach Wheeler, how great this rotation
would be with Zach Wheeler, Trey Christopher Sanchez. Imagine Christopher
Sanchez is a number two in baseball right now. Yeah,
like he would be the best number two by a
mile as a starting pitcher. But then Trey Turner goes down.
And we also didn't acknowledge Trey Turner season. Before he
went down, he was he was playing phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Still number one in batting average this year.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
He was great, and I the home runs weren't there,
so people were upset, but who cares. He was constantly
getting on base, like you said, number one in batting average,
so he wasn't properly acknowledged. And then he goes down,
other guys step up. So it's really been a collective effort,
and the depth of this team has been showcase of
the last month or so. And they're gonna need that
in the postseason.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Yeah, shame because Zack Wheeler was at one ninety five
and ninety five strikeouts. He was he was gonna blow
that number away. You would have had three starting pitching,
three starting pitchers for your rotation for the Phillies with
over two hundred plus strikeouts. It's just insane what this
could have been if Zach Wheeler would have stayed healthy.
But all in all, I feel really good about what
(22:24):
we have right now. Of course, Sanchez and Lozardo, ranger, Nola.
You got a great bullpen, you know, hitting its stride
at the right time, getting a little bit of a rest,
and then of course the bats And here's what I know.
This is what I've been saying for the last two years.
Of course, going back to three years ago when this
(22:45):
team made the World Series. One of the big reasons
why they made the World Series was because the ball
goes boom. They hit the home run power. We know
it didn't happen last year the year before, kind of
a mixed bag. They did hit some bombs, but they
came up small in that Arizona's cities.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
No doubt that was the problem that was in advanced
runters in that Arizona series those last three games.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Really the home runs weren't there. Your you know, the.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Optimism for this Phillies team right here right now, and
I get it. It was the Marlins. And I'm not
trying to say that that's going to be the type
of pitching that they're going to see starting on October four, No,
But the fact that they're putting this all together with
the starting pitching, the rotation, the additions are hitting their stride.
Health is in their favor, and the ball is going boom.
(23:36):
Last night hitting eight home runs. They hit seven home
runs in a game already this year. This isn't a fluke.
This is a team that can hit home runs, and
if that is the case, I feel great. I feel
great about the Phillies chances again one of, if not
the toughest sport to win a championship, well documented, so
even though that they were number one on the odds
(23:57):
board for DraftKings Sports, but for the last three weeks,
I don't care about that. No. To me, I feel
like it was up for grabs, opportunity for a lot
of teams out there, But for my money, hitting the
home runs, I'll put the Phillies up against anybody at
this point in time. And if that's the case, I
really do believe that this is a World Series championship
team this year.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
Yeah, and you're right, there are a power team that
they hit home runs. They have a lot of power hitters.
But that's also got them in trouble. So we can
say if they do that, of course we'll have postseason success.
They also have to be great getting on base, advancing
runners in scoring position, not chasing. That's the stuff that
has ended their season the last two years, and that's
(24:38):
the stuff everyone's been talking about all all season, all
season on improving and not chasing on two counts like that,
that's the stuff, and being patient in the box. If
they can get over those hurdles, that, more than anything,
is going to get them to and eventually win a
World Series. More than those homers and power hitting, because
we know those will be there, but they won't always
(24:59):
be in key moments against great pitchers.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
No, you're right, you're right.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
And look when you go down the list of home
run numbers this year as a team collectively, I'd be
interested to see what those Septembers and numbers are because
this is one of, if not the winningest ball club
in the month of September. They were heading into that
Diamondbacks series. Since they returned, all they have done is one.
So no, actually they did lose that game to the Marlins,
that's right. So I'd be interested to know what that
(25:24):
number is. As far as winning teams. It's September. But
at this point in time, Phillies their top ten four
home runs this season two hundred and ten. At they're
tied with the Diamondbacks for two hundred and ten. Right now,
the teams in front of them, the Cubbies, they have
two to eleven.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
How about this.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
One, the Sacramento A's.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
I want to call them Las Vegas A's.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
The A's have two hundred and sixteen home runs this year.
Mets have two hundred and twenty Dodgers two twenty Angels
to Mariner's two thirty six Yankees two hundred and sixty
six home runs.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Of course, it's a ballpark. My mind just went blank
as you were talking.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
Because as we're talking about good vibes heading into October
with in Philly, with the Philadelphia Phillies, another team in
Philly is starting playing again in October, an already bad
vibe surrounding the team. If you look to your left,
right there where breaking news. Just now, Jared McCain suffered
torn You see el tear in right thumb. He's gonna
(26:31):
be out for a little while. Sixer season. Media day
hasn't even started, hasn't even started yet, and the bad
luck is here, the misfortune is here. Jared McCain is
gonna be out for probably that that's like a it's
not super serious injury, but he's not gonna be starting
the season. I'll tell you that in mid to late
October when they do, he's gonna be out for a
little bit. So you think you can avoid it, maybe
(26:54):
just until practice starts. But no, Jared McCain torn ucl
in his right thumb suffered at a workout.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
He's gonna be out for a little bit.
Speaker 5 (27:02):
So from the good vibes and with the Phillies to
the awful vibes across the street at the Exfinity Mobile.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Arena lifting those two and a half pound way, he
played that off.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Well, you know, I just I can't do it. I
just can't do it. They're cursed the curse. That's what
it is. There's nothing like that.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
If you can say about their curse, if it can
happen to that franchise, it will happen to that franchise.
It is upsetting, especially for a young gun like him.
You just want to believe that. You know that that look.
I said it to you before the show. And I've
been lucky to strike up a little bit of a
conversation at times with Elton Brand and this morning did
(27:45):
at my local gym, and we were talking about the
jerseys and it's just it just quick jabs and and
like I mean this, those black jerseys did tug at
the strings a.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Little bit like oh okay, you know, like get a little.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Pep in my step, like all right, now anything, I'm
believing in this team, but at least like, okay, there's
something positive the floor, something positive, like okay, I can
get behind some good vibes. There's been a couple of
pictures that were released, one specific image where there was
no Jowell embiid and there was no Paul George in
the image. It was a group of the other guys
(28:20):
that were practicing. McCain Maxie up front, laughing. They had
the belt and I was just like, you know what,
at least that's fresh, that's new.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
I can I can. I can live with that. Of course,
edgecumb like I can get behind that.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
And then you know, and I don't want to dog
Joel Andbee because like that that's not right. But it's
just been tough and it's been well documented and we
don't need to go into that. But now you have
this situation where Jared McCain is going to be out
with the ucl at ucl torn in his thumb for whatever,
three four weeks. I would imagine that could be.
Speaker 5 (28:54):
Probably at least yeah, just a team and him are
deciding how to proceed.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
But that that's oh, could mean surgery. It's probably a
month we get the surgery and it's gonna be two
months or whatever. He'll be back, but I'll be back.
It's not like last year was a Biscuits and it
was season ending.
Speaker 5 (29:09):
It's it's just the misfortune starts before the season even starts,
before practice has even started, and it's just that's Sixer's
gonna sixer and now you need Quentin Grimes there even
more to start the season, which is very.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Intriguing because that's a big storyline that's coming out of there.
We will talk some NBA coming up in the second hour,
and yeah, there's a little bit more misfortune from Kyle Lowry.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
It's like, dude, pick pick a lane.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
Bro, It'll never be about basketball with this team ever,
That's what I can guarantee.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
You never will be about basketball. Well said.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
It's a daily tick, a little all over place to
get the party started. On Thursday, I talked about getting arrested.
We talked about cal Rawly hitting sixty. We talked about
the Phillies and how magical that they truly are this season.
Are we giving them enough credit, enough attention in the
right categories? East Carolina Army little talk there and then
Jared McCain is going to miss some some time with
(29:58):
the torn UCLI in his stum breaking news. Great great
start to the show. However, we do have some football
that we have to get to. We have a Thursday
night football game tonight.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
I'm intrigued. I'm intrigued for one.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Reason, and it's not Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals.
So I'll tell you exactly why. I'm intrigued to see
what happens this seasoning because I do believe that there's
something good happening with the Seahawks. We'll talk a little
bit more in depth on that. Also, fire up draftings,
take a look at some props if we can find
some winners for tonight. Big one though, Sam, that I
(30:30):
can't wait to discuss with you, is college football Huge Week.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
I am.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
I am locked in on a play for Oregon and
Penn State. There are some games that I like up
and down the card. It's a big card, as you
point out, Huge weeks, some great matchups.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Money in the dumpster as we used to have from
Mark Henry and I love them.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
But ultimately, you know that was a great saying, so
I gotta let him have that.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
But money in the dumpster.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
Yes, and it's you know, we got the big games
where Oregon and Penn State. Sure, but I do feel
like I have the right pulse of this game. So
I'm gonna give that to you as well. On the
other side, so let's get over to the grid iron
once again. Daily Ticket here on a Thursday. He's Sam
Austrie from the score.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
I'm Sean brace Off and running. Let's go more after
this
