Speaker 1 (00:00):
If you can wager on it, We're talking about it.
It's the Gambler, the Fox Sports Radio, The Gambler. Fox
Sports Radio in Philly is the Gambler, The Gambler, Philly's
home for all things sports gambling.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yes, sir, Philly, take it with you.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Here on a Tuesday, Sean Ras riding solo for now.
Zach Berman going to join the program coming up at
four o'clock phl WI Sports here in Philly.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
He's got a new book coming out about the Philadelphia Eagles,
the franchise, the Super Bowl champions. Looking forward to talking
to Zach. Haven't seen him in quite some time. One
of my favorite favorite beat writers for our Philadelphia Eagles.
So Zach will be on the show coming up at
four o'clock. We got giveaways courtesy of our friends over
(00:54):
at the Philly Show. Will be broadcasting live from the
Philly Show on Friday, read to six. Out there all day,
all day. We will be the show will be live
from three to six, but we'll be rocking out because
anybody and everybody, as far as Philadelphia Sports is concerned,
will be an Oaks PA come Friday. And if you
(01:15):
are not aware of what the Philly Show consists of
Please check them out online at Phillyshow dot com. A
great spot for you to bring, whether you have a child,
if you are interested in collectibles, or you know just
a sports fan in general.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
You could come.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Get lost as you know that these places are huge.
It just like a huge, huge, huge warehouse type deal.
And that's not giving it the right term there, but
just a monster space. And you got aisles that you
just walk up and you see all sorts of cool
collectibles that take your pat back to your childhood when
you used to collect cards or for the folks that
(01:53):
got back in the game, and not only just baseball cards,
but jerseys, shoes, and they continue to add every single show.
This isn't their first radio rodeo. The folks over at
the Philly Show have been doing this a long long time.
As matter of fact, I think coming up in September
is their fiftieth anniversary, so and hopefully we'll be there
(02:13):
for that one as well. But this is a big one.
It's gonna feature a lot of Philadelphia Eagles from the
Super Bowl championship team, and even the folks like the
mascot Gilly's gonna be there at attendance. It's funny that
I pump up Gilly instead of the starting quarterback, Jaleen Hurts.
Jalen Hurts will be there on Friday yet that's probably
number one on the list. But after that, Big Dom
(02:36):
Sirianni Howie Roseman, who took a can to the head
and has an interesting way of looking at winning his
second Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
We'll talk about that a little bit later, but I'm trying.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
I'm telling you right now, if you have nothing to
do on your schedule for this weekend, phillyshow dot com,
come on out, especially on Friday.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
See what's up.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
We will be there all weekend longer see the Big
Heart Radio Tent, Powers in Company. The Gambler Gang will
be rocking out on Saturday and I'll be back in
the mix on Sunday. But if you see us out there,
stop by. As I said, we're gonna be having some
giveaways and all you got to do is follow us
on our socials at Fox PHL Gambler at Fox PHL Gambler.
(03:19):
All right, we got a lot to discuss today. Again,
these are the days that I love. I love being
able to just turn the microphone on and be myself
and not have to drive a topic, not try to
gauge interest on something that maybe I'm half passionate.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
About or anything along those lines.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
No, this is the type of show where you know what,
This defines.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Who you listen to on a daily basis, It does,
you know.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
I think anybody could turn the microphones on when you
are the Philadelphia Eagles radio station and when they are
a really good team, in fact winning the Super Bowl.
Anybody can do that. That's easy. I've been saying this
for quite some time. You can go down to Philadelphia
Zoo and get me whatever animal you want and put
them in that booth, turn the microphone on and they
(04:03):
will get a rating. I promise you. That's how easy
it is. Now, these are the times that you gotta
work a little bit harder. These are the times that
you gotta find those interesting topics the real people in
These are the times that I love and look, it's
it's not fools. Go. This isn't fake by no means.
But this is the time of college basketball. This is
(04:24):
the time of the NBA. This is when the other
leagues get to shine here and we pay attention to
it all. The Gambler Gang has been on college hoops
from the moment they jump ball back in October.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
We've been talking about Villanova for quite some time.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Of course, home the Villa Wildcats right here, their final
game coming up this evening in the regular season. Catch
the action right here on the Gambler. So look, with
that being said, madness is here. I got the graphic
behind the out of way. For the people that are watching,
the madness is here, yes, and for me, I think
(05:00):
it has to start last night in college hoops. And
we have a team in the Duke Blue Devils that
have an embarrassment of riches. We have a team in
the Duke Blue Devils that has the best player in
college basketball, hands down.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
We have a team in the Duke Blue Devils that.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Has the best college basketball player in the nation and
has been hyped as such. This Duke Blue Devil team
is not getting nearly nearly enough attention. As we were
about to embark on Conference Tournament week, which very well,
very much so, they should win. They did lose to
(05:43):
Clemson little earlier this season. Could it happen again? Possibly again?
Eyes on the prize. As far as March Madness is concerned,
the national championship. That's what it's all about. The shiring
company want to go in to the a SEC Championship
or a tournament and lose by no means no, and
I don't think that they will. I look forward to
(06:05):
seeing those odds, but something tells me it's going to
be juiced up pretty heavily. Anyways, maybe that's not the
right way to look at the Duke Blue Devils when
we talk about wagering on them. And I'll get into
the ats in just a second, but I'm questioning why
why the Duke Blue Devils are not getting the run
that they deserve in the national media folks that are
(06:27):
just having interest in college hoops. Like you know, I
joked about it in my tweet put out for the
show here on our streams, and I said, Duke Lakers.
And I'll even squeeze in a Yankees topic as well.
You know, why hell you want me to do the
Cowboys as well? We can put the Cowboys in there,
(06:47):
right because those are the fans are certain type of fans.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Are of course rooting on those teams.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
And it has simply to do with based on off
of the success that those teams once had. And oh,
by the way, that they're a national team that gets
a ton of pub Lakers front and center at this
point in time with Luca, a whole different world.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
And we'll get.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Into them in the NBA in just a second. As
I said, with the Yankees, there's no doubt about that.
This team with Aaron Judge and company. We saw last year,
even though I didn't think that they were going to
win the World Series, they made a pretty damn good
run on it. And the Yankees will get more PUB
than any Major League Baseball team when they're successful. Duke,
(07:36):
for my money, if you asked me before the season,
give me the team that is equal to the Lakers
in the NBA, equal to the Yankees in the Major
Lee in MLB, equal to the Cowboys in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
No, I think that's getting a little watered down.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
But still, you know when you turn on ESPN, you
know when you turn on the NFL network, you know
when you listen to Cowherd before me, he's gonna be
talking about the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Why why are we not making enough.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Noise about this Duke Blue Devil team. I just have
you been paying attention to the Duke Blue Devils because
all they do is win and win by an egregious amount.
Last night, they were nineteen point favorites. The game was
over as soon as it jumped. They won by thirty three.
(08:33):
That's not something that doesn't happen, or that's not something
that's not happening often here with the Duke Blue Devils
of this season. You go down the list. The previous
game to that Florida State, they won one hundred to
sixty five, one hundred to sixty five against an acc opponent.
(08:57):
The game before that, ninety seven is sixty against Miami Illinois,
who people were trying to make the case for a
little earlier this year, a decent team, one ten to
sixty seven. This Duke team is electric.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Again. Cooper Flag the best player in college hoops.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
To the right, got by Johnson, sends a backup Tom Cooper,
a clean look from three, got that one.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
So back to back threes after they missed their first six.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
And it's eight to six.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
He's averaging nineteen seven and four.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
He's shooting forty nine percent from the field.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
As a freshman who I believe is eighteen, because I
know he was young when he got there. He's extremely young.
One year that's all. We're getting a Cooper Flag. Maybe
that's my bigger point is I think we needed to
be paying attention a little bit more to the Blue
Den and give them the proper respect, the proper du
(10:06):
because of how special this team is versus well, wait
till we get to the tournament and let's see if
they can win six straight.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Cooper Flag was insane last night, and I get it.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
The big caveat underneath this Duke team is the fact
that the ACC is down, and it's down bad. It's
not your uh, it's not hell, it's not my ACC.
I was gonna say my dad's ACC. No, no, no, no, no,
this isn't this isn't even my ACC. As I said,
Florida State terrible, Miami terrible. You and see he so
(10:44):
so to the point that people are upset that Duke
and you and see they're getting the college game day
experience on Saturday, and people are upset about that. Oh,
by the way, ratings actually control all in this world.
I don't know if you know that, but yeah, that's
why they're doing it. This Duke team is incredible, and
Cooper Flag is the best player in college basketball.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Johnny Broom is damn good.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
Auburn is an awesome squad, and it won't shock me
if Duke or Auburn or Duke and Auburn or in
a national championship game. But somebody's going to take a
hit throughout the course of trying to win six. I
don't know who will it be, but I do know this,
for my money, it's Duke and Auburn and then everybody else.
(11:32):
And simply stated because of Cooper flag for the Duke
Blue Devils. But that's not all they got outside shooting.
They got players that can break the press. They got
good coaching. This is a unbelievable team from top to bottom.
And allow me if you don't mind, as it took
(11:53):
fourteen minutes to get to this statement that I'm about
to throw out there. And if you listen to this
show since twenty nineteen, if you've been listening to him,
you've been following me, you know I'm not a big
I told you type of guy. You know that that's
not my way.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
I don't do that.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
However, heading into this season, I told you at least
five times that this Duke Blue Devil team is special
and you need to have one ticket in your college
basketball portfolio above all, and it was the Duke Blue
(12:33):
Devils to win the national Championship. It was as high
as twelve to one. You had to hop on it,
snap of the fingers immediately it went down to ten
to one. And that's where I'm at. It's my only
future as far as college hoops is concerned, to win
the national championship. We are rocking with Duke, and at
this point in time they're plus three fifty. I said
(12:55):
something along the lines of, if you get this ticket now,
when March Madness rolls around, you will send me a
tweet saying thank you, brace you steered me in the
right direction on this one.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
I appreciate you. Hot tip, thank you, And.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Ultimately the number as far as Duke to win the
national Championship when the tournament rolls around, it's.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Going to drop now, I don't I think.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
I remember I bid off a little bit more than
I could chew as far as with my statement, as
I thought that Duke would be somewhere around the ballpark
of I think plus two fifty to win the national
championship once the tournament started.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Could very well be the case. Could very well be
the case.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
They're at plus three fifty right here, right now, they
trail Auburn at plus three forty. Again, Auburn is disgusting,
embarrassment of riches, solid team, great athleticism, long and deep.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Pearl's a good coach.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
I know that sometimes we probably don't see eye to
eye with some of the things he says. He's very opinionated.
It's a lot like Gundhy, but Pearl actually wins. However,
of course, as we know, hasn't got to the Promised
Land just yet. This might be his best shit, this
is his best shot. I know he's had some good
(14:16):
teams every years. This is his best shot. Auburn is loaded,
and we've been watching him since Maui where they stood
out to all of us with their run and what
they did out in Hawaii to open up the season.
But Duke is right there with them. And if we
do get a national championship, and we don't know how
this works, because of course we got to see how
(14:38):
the bracket, who's going where, But if we do get
a national championship that features Auburn and Duke, that's one
hell of a reward. Anyways, love to get your thoughts
on where you're at as we are about to approach
into conference tournament action again, final game of regular season
play for Villanova said tonight, that's it from here on out.
(15:01):
It's the Big East Tournament, the ACC Tournament, see SEC tournament,
which is what thirteen teams could potentially make the dance.
Where are you at right now when it comes to
the madness? What is going through your mind? And why
why aren't we talking about Duke and in the ways
(15:22):
that Duke North like when Zion was there, That Zion
team got way more pub than what this team is
getting right now? Why is that? Reddick Jason Williams days,
I could keep going back?
Speaker 2 (15:38):
You want?
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Is Shane Battier? Those Duke teams got way more buzz
than this team?
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Why is that?
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Now?
Speaker 4 (15:47):
If you don't mind, I'm gonna go take a shower
because I've been pumping up Duke here for the last
fifteen minutes. That's all right, I kid, However, let's keep
it moving. I'd love to get you involved on that
f Fox PHL Gambler. Where are you at when it
comes to the madness? College hoops front and center? Last
night watching Duke lay the lumber.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Again?
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Bad ACC. Yeah, there's not too much that you can
get too crazy. But the game between Houston and Kansas
was actually good as well. That was a nine point spread.
Kansas sins of covered number, but Houston sixty five to
fifty nine. Again, good team, just not on the level
for my money of Duke and Auburn will be a
one seed? Who will be the other one seed? It's
(16:33):
up in the air, a lot to play for at
this point in time. Here on March fourth, I thought
it was going to be Auburn, but then we had
the buzzer beater down there in Tennessee, So I think
that opens it up for the fourth overall ones or
a fourth one seed come madness time. However, you're looking
at Houston, Duke, and Auburn being the slam dunks for
(16:56):
all things one seed there. Love to get you involved,
like I said from the jump on college hoops, is
there a team that you have your eye on? We're
getting text messages earlier in the day asking about the Johnnies.
Is it worthwhile taking a shot at Saint John's, you know,
long not so much long shots, but any other team
besides the three that I just brought up to you
(17:18):
right there between Houston, Auburn, and Duke. I could talk
myself into some of those teams, but A, what's the
number and B what's the path? And of course when
we get the path, that's only gonna the number is
going to take a hit, right as far as DraftKings
(17:39):
Sportsbook is concerned. Once we get those in front of us,
then everything continues to come down because that's when money
starts coming in. However, if you were to ask me
at this point in time, is there a team to
go ahead and take a flyer on it's a little
bit lower on the list without knowing the path.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
I don't have an.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Issue with Saint John's, but I would probably look at
Alabama twelve to one. That's a decent price because that's
a team that can go out there and drop one
hundred on you. I don't play much defense, but it's
going to be hard to match them.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Let's just say, you know.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
If Michigan State has to go up against them in
Michigan State, it's a covering machine and Izzo in March.
We know the history there and they're twenty eight to one.
I want to argue against that without knowing the path.
I'm just having a hard time believing that they'll have
enough offense to ultimately get to a championship game, let
alone win one. The one team that I do have
(18:38):
my eye on, and hoham, it's from the SEC. It's
thirty to one, and it's Missouri. Missouri. Missouri has good
outside shooting. Now, they played really well at home, and
of course we know it's a neutral site when it
comes to March madness. But at thirty to one, if
you asked me to give you a team to take
(18:59):
a flyer on, that's probably where I'm going. Last thing
as far as college hoops is concerned at this point
in time here in the Daily Ticket, do want to
bring up that we do have a good one this
evening with a bunch of good games. Actually, Tennessee and
Old miss is definitely an interesting one because of the
fact that what just took place with Tennessee is just
a letdown spot here on the road against Old Miss.
(19:19):
That one's that going off at nine o'clock. We got
Marquette and Yukon, two powerhouse squads. Don't need to go
into why that game is big. Of course, Missouri isn't
an accident against Oklahoma. Oklahoma played kNs or Kentucky if
I'm not mistaken. Last time out, very tight, Kentucky was
able to win that close. But Missouri is a team
(19:40):
that I'm looking at. They are on the road there,
and then finally I would just bring this up looking
at Florida and Alabama here. Excuse me, I am crossed over.
I was gonna say that's not today. I apologize. The
A big one for us tonight. Number one overall Auburn
(20:03):
in action A and M at home, And I think
A and M is a live, live dog here. The
issue is putting your money where your mouth is on
This one is a tough pill to swallow for me.
But I do believe A and M at home could
potentially give Auburn to run for their money. Now, I've
been saying that about Auburn. Eventually somebody is going to
(20:25):
get them, but it hasn't been the case.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Last time out.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
They did lose that game against Florida, and that was
what's seven games ago.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
They were able to.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Beat Saturday Kentucky pretty well, ninety four to seventy eight.
Old miss They lumped them up so as much as
Duke is doing blowing out their opponents, same thing here
with Auburn. But I do think tonight taxes A and
M at nine pm four and a half points spread
via DraftKings sportsbook could potentially be on upset alert. Let's
(20:57):
get that money line action. Take a peek at that
number real quick, if we can. Again, it's a nine
o'clock start here, a lot of action in the college
hoops schedule as we are getting closer to conference tournament action.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
We do have a conference.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Tournament actually going off at this point in time in
the Sunbelt. But Texas A and M four and a
half at home, dogs and plus one sixty four in
the money line. Man, let's do it. Let's take it.
It's the dog of a day. Stealing Beef's theme there,
the dog of the day. We're taking the Aggies at
home to upset Auburn. They're so good though, they are
(21:32):
so good. Broom didn't even do anything in that last game,
and as I said, they ended up smashing Kentucky on
the road. All right, from college troops real quick, if
we can, let's get on over to the NBA and
last night, the unfortunate injury for Kyrie Irving is where
(21:52):
we start. And it's just tough when you see somebody
like that, Like, I've always been a kyrie guy, always have.
He had his moment where we were like like what
you know, with the flat earth stuff, the whole you know,
going back to those days with the vaccine and all that.
(22:14):
I think he could have handled it better. I think
everybody could have handled it better, no doubt. But it
was a very frantic type of world we were living in,
not even a type at this. Isn't it crazy? Think
about this. It's twenty twenty five, right, So it was
five years ago. Yeah, my daughter just celebrated her fifth
birthday and she was a COVID baby. So it was
(22:37):
right around this point that everything shut down. This is
essentially when they canceled the tournament and said that's it,
we're not playing anymore. Five years ago. Think about that.
That's when Dayton was going to win the national championship.
I had a Dayton ticket and Dayton was ready to go.
(22:59):
Sorry to of the flyer faithful that a're watching right now.
That was going to be a hell of a tournament too,
because that was wide open.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Anyways.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Yeah, five years ago, that's crazy, whole different world as
far as COVID is concerned.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
What I would say, is.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
Kyrie Irving getting hurt is just the icing on the
cake for the Dallas Maverick disaster. And when I look
at the move that Nico Harrison.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Made general manager of the Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
From the start, he cursed that franchise from the start.
He did a disservice to the fans, to the organization,
to anybody and everybody that reps the Maverick. Well, there
MFFL Maverick fan for life, and all those Maverick fans
are probably Luca fans and Nowson other the Laker fans
(24:01):
for life. But I have to feel like I, you know,
I have a little bit of a conscience. I'm I'm
having it having a hard time like looking at the
Dallas Mavericks and not cringing of how many things have
just cratered beneath them since the move, since the trade.
(24:23):
And there is no doubt about it that nobody can
argue at this point in time about anything beneficial. There
was zero zero. And for the people that were trying
to pump up the fact that the Mavericks were better
suited in the now present day than the Lakers were.
With the addition of Anthony Davis. I never bought it.
(24:47):
And as we sit here right now with Anthony Davis
missing a significant amount of time and Kyrie Irving tearing
his acl and now will be done this year, that
franchise completely cursed and they didn't even tank. The basketball
gods aren't frowning upon them for trying to lose for
(25:09):
three straight years like the seventy six ers did way
back when. Instead, the basketball gods are getting back at
the Mavericks for a disaster of a trade by the
general manager and Nico hers zero reason to make that
move without opening up and seeing exactly what you can
(25:30):
get maximum return for Luka Doncic the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
That's the story, and that's.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
What I want to hit on the other side, because
right here, right now, the Lakers ceiling is what we
need to be discussing. This is potentially a championship contender
at this point in time, and I don't think I'm
saying something that nobody is believing right now, because slowly
but surely it started getting its momentum and those deficiencies
that everybody was highlighting, ooh, there's no hight down low. Yeah,
(25:59):
in the perfect world, you would like to see them
have more size in the lane, and it could potentially
be different in a seven game series. But we're talking
about in a starting five. They got two dudes that
are potentially MVPs at this point in time.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
MVPs.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
Now, Luca is not an MVP this year, we know that,
but Lebron James is the top five player as far
as MVP is concerned.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Luca is incredible.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
And you're putting those two in a starting five and
they are already playing well. They're like King and Duck
down at the Park right now, winners of twelve of
their last fourteen, six and two. Since Luca was added
to the roster. The Lakers could very well be winning
(26:44):
it all after it's said and done this season. How
does that make you feel?
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Again?
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Another team that everybody pays attention to. I'm signing up
right here, right now for a Lakers run. Let's talk
a little bit about the ceiling and other ways to
get involved as far as the Lakers action is concerned.
We'll go over to the NBA. We got a big
card I also want to bring up here. At five o'clock,
Sean Bonnard's going to join me and Sean and I
(27:10):
earlier today discussed the necessary steps for the seventy.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
Six Ers.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
In what could potentially be one of the biggest off
seasons in franchise history. They are going to have to
make some serious decisions top to bottom, Moury Brand, nurse,
George Embiide, you name them, everybody down to the ball boys.
(27:37):
And I don't want to touch the ball boys because
of course we got numb with love for the six.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
For ball boys here on this station, on this show.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
But the seventy six ers are just as bad right
now compared to the Dallas Mavericks. But all is well
because Paul George isn't doing podcasting anymore.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
That's he's hung up the microphone. We appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
Ball But Shan Bernards have five o'clock and we're gonna
discuss how do you fix the Sixers. If Day one
