Sports Radio the Gambler.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
There will be a Game six in Indiana and a
statement victory tonight on their home court. They beat the
Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals at Madison Square Garden
for the first time of the series with a seventeen
point victory final score of one to eleven ninety four.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
How about that, sparts fans, and I puke all over
the microphone. The New York Next extended series, which is
a good thing for US sports fans. Man, We're only
you know, we only have what two more weeks left
in the NBA season, which takes forever, which kind of
hits you both ways. Right, You're you're happy that we

(01:41):
got to this point and it's time to reset, especially
for teams that have been terrible all season long, not
existent since November, essentially.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Sixers and then you're gonna be sad for a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
But we do have plenty to discuss in the offseason,
especially with the Sixers, NBA Draft and more. The ladies
and gentlemen, boys and girls, It's always fun when you
get a great piece of news to discuss and break
down that is somewhat significant. Let me check that that
is significant on a Friday. And even better when we

(02:14):
got Mark Henry Jr. Riding with me for the first
hour here on the Daily Ticket, of course, host of
the Tough Cover radio show. Full disclosure. He's getting tomorrow off.
He's doing me a solid. The boys will be down
all over the globe. So we had to figure out
who's gonna be holding it down back at the ranch
and unfortunately tied up coaching and so on and so forth.

(02:35):
So Mark was like a good man. He goes, dude,
you need me to take off, I'll take the Saturday off.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Bro. Bang.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
So he's here with us on a Friday. Good afternoon, Mark,
How we doing today? Sart doing well?

Speaker 5 (02:46):
How he did it again?

Speaker 3 (02:47):
How we season? My friend? Yes, Look, we will get
into obviously the Phillies big series against the brew Crew.
We got Luke Arkadick joining us in about eight minutes
live from Citizens Bank Park. That's that's upfront. We will
talk all things Phillies and just the minute here we
got NBA. Of course, what took place last night? We
finally got our Stanley Cup final situated as well. We
got a lot to get into. But according to Adam Schefter,

(03:10):
at about two o'clock, news came down on the timeline
that Bryce Huff, who was a big time free agent
signing by the Philadelphia Eagles, that did not work out.
I don't even think I don't think he suited up
in the Super Bowl, Mark, Right, Yep, he didn't suit
up in the Super Bowl. Why would he? He didn't play. Yeah.

(03:30):
So with that being said, it's not that much a
shock anyways. What is shocking is why general managers across
the league continue to pick up the phone and Howie
Roseman's on the other side. Let's start it there. Because
of how he's calling, I'm not answering. Yesterday, Colin Cowherd
said that potentially, Howie Roseman, I don't have to tell you, Mark,
Howie Roseman could be the best general manager of all

(03:51):
time in NFL history. Like Colin Cowherd said that yesterday,
I know we don't like to really take his word
as gospel, but that was something that hit me in
Bryce Up could be on to a new team for
a second straight year. According to the NFL Network, filled off.
Eagles are working toward trading the pass rusher to the
San Francisco forty nine Ers. Pre June one trade, we
mean twelve point one million in dead money for the

(04:13):
Eagles in twenty twenty five with a four point seven
million loss of cap savings, while a post June one
move would incur only three million in dead money. Blah blah,
blah blah blah. Here's the big deal. Bryce Off was
a bad signing. It was a three year, three year signing,
fifty one million dollar deal and he did not payoff.
The reason why the forty nine ers have interested because

(04:34):
Robert sala is there now is a defensive coordinator, so
maybe they can get the you know, the juices going again.
When he was with the Jets, Bryce Off had a
great season with the Jeffs, So I understand it from
that perspective. But in the long run, Mark, it seems
like the Eagles came out way on top with this movie. Here.

Speaker 6 (04:51):
Yeah, it seems like how he worked with the Cap
to make this a feasible thing to do, because it
seemed to CAP novices like me into a lot of
people out there that they were going to have to
kind of just eat the eat the money and either
cut him or you know, do what do what you
had this year where you had him on the roster

(05:12):
but you don't really play them. And I didn't really
even think that there would be interest in training for him.
That changes once it becomes a little bit more economically feasible.
They transferred Bunny to signing bonuses and a lot of
that is the benefit that how He, you know, we
give how He all the credit for moving money around.
A lot of that is Jeffrey Lurry willing to pay
the bill and help these things get done, pay things

(05:36):
in a way that.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
Keeps them off the cap. And that's what happened here.

Speaker 6 (05:39):
They I think this is basically going to end up
being almost a one year tryout for san Fran. So
we have something that we're going to talk about talking
about teams that I think I call them Iceberg teams,
Teams that are you know, maybe aboard the Titanic that
could be going down quite and I think san Fran

(06:01):
is on that list. They're looking for help. And you
know this, I do this activity. I think I talked
about it with you last time I was on with
Shane Half where we do this three part expansion series.
We go through every team, we protect eleven players on
those teams, and then we do an.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
Expansion draft for a thirty third team.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
It can only take we can only take one player
from each team, and always the sign of disrespect is
the two teams that we take the kicker and the
punter from. So after the top eleven guys, the rest
of the rosters unprotected.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
We can take anyone we want, but we.

Speaker 6 (06:33):
Have to fill out all the spots, so we have
to take a kicker and a punter from one of
the two teams. We took a kicker or a punter
from San Fran because we really couldn't find whoever the
twelfth best player wasn't good enough to start on whatever
this hypothetical roster was. So I and going through this
exercise always tells me, you know, certain teams are deeper
than I think, certain teams are better than I think,

(06:54):
certain teams are worse.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
Than I think.

Speaker 6 (06:56):
And one of my big takeaways that we talked about
at the end of the series was this San Fran
roster that's projected to win ten and a half games
has some serious problems, especially in the trenches, and I
think This is them trying to solve one of those
and taking a chance on a guy in Huff who
did have a really good year two years ago. I
was really excited about the signing when they made it.
But something that you have to give how he credit

(07:17):
for is there's no sunk cost fallacy. He figures out
the best way. If it doesn't work out, he gets
out of it. He's not going to commit to his mistakes.
He's gonna, you know, move on and you know, move
to the next best step.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
Hey, you know what, Bryceoff still gets a ring, Yeah, exactly,
still got paid, still got his money, and now he's
in San Francisco playing for his former coach. I see
that he posted on Instagram deuces in an Eagles gear. Hey,
no hard feelings. It didn't work out, team was or
the season was a success. On to the next. I'm
just so appreciative that Howie Roseman is that good at
what he does and to be able to unload a

(07:54):
guy like Huff, which had you know, nothing of substance
to show for two and a half sacks last year,
coming off a great season with the Jets. So we'll
see what happens there. Once again, Bryce Off breaking news.
It seems like he's heading out west San Francisco. Adam
Shifter had it first around two o'clock. Now, the June first,
if you could give it to us without getting in

(08:15):
too much of the details of significance of that date, Mark, Yeah,
there's a.

Speaker 6 (08:21):
Lot of things with June one deadline, and you'll see
a lot of posts designated after June one cuts, and
there's just it's one of the date in the NFL
salary cap, there's a deadline on certain things, and once
that passes, you can cut guys.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
But I think it was a couple of years.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
Ago that they kind of it basically doesn't even matter
anymore because things happen, and it's just they don't officially
happen until June first. But it's not like any of
us are watching the league wire, so when it gets reported,
in our mind it happened, but technically it won't happen
for a couple of days. I think Darius Slay was
released with the post June one like designation, so technically

(08:58):
he's not on the Steelers yet, even though he's been
signed there for two months.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
A perfect day to have Mark Henry Junior here, as
you can hear he knows all about the details. And
take me on this one, because again, the deal with
Bryce Huff now it looks like it's going to free
up a ton of money. Again, I'm not he was
set to make about seventeen million dollars fully guaranteed this season.
Now somebody that's say, you know, just an average NFL fan,

(09:24):
average Eagles fan, goes, ooh, now we could probably go
out and resign a guy, or sign a guy, somebody
that maybe could be a free agent, maybe make a trade.
Would you would you say that that's probably where how
his mind is, or are you under the impression now
that this has freed up some money, so therefore you

(09:44):
can go ahead and pay the guys that are currently
here with the Eagles that have been really good draft picks,
like Jalen Carter, let's start there.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
Yeah, I'd guess that he'll be paying the people he's
allowed to pay as soon as possible, and this is
what that's saving up for. I think he thinks that,
you know, the NFL, the money per position per top
five at position, or you know, that's how the franchise.
The franchise tag is the average of the top five
guys at that position, and that number is going to

(10:14):
climb up for every single position year after year, just
because of the nature of the salary cap, just because
of the nature of the NFL being the biggest sport.
And I don't see any stop to that. And that's why,
you know, with the new TV deal that was coming,
there was a lot of talk to LORI and how
we were pushing things down the road because you know,
they know that the bill's never really going.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
To come do.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
But that's kind of the That's the example right there
of them kind of being ahead of the curve and
kind of realizing that stuff. But it's very clear that
if you get a guy a year or two before
he hits free agency, while he's still on your roster,
you might be able to get a pay cut technically

(10:56):
for what the team is doing, because that market's going
to change.

Speaker 5 (11:00):
Two years later.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
That top five player is probably gonna get three million,
five million more per year just by the natural progressions.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Thanks all right, Well, football season, we are ninety seven
days away from kickoff for the Eagles and Cowboys. Who's
counting down? Who's counting down? I saw Scott Scott Hansen said,
we are one hundred days away from the first Sunday.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Of course NFL football with.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
The red zone, quad box, octobox, all the above. Yeah,
football season is inch and closer, that's for sure. But folks,
we got ourselves a pretty damn good baseball team and
they got themselves a series coming up here against the
Milwaukee Brewers. Let's head down the Citizens Bank Park and
we are joined by Luke Arcane covers the Phillies for

(11:43):
us here on the Gambler All Things MLB read them
over at Crossing broad dot Com does a bang up job.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
It's been there all week.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Has saw a great Game one against the Braves yesterday
they opened up with a five to four victory in
Game one, then got smashed in Game two. I want
to open up up with this one, Luke. Great to
have you on today. Of course, Mark Hevy Junior myself.
I know that the brew crew is in town and
there's a talking point with Rhys Hoskins, and there's a
lot to get into with that. But allow me to

(12:11):
hit the rewind button and go back to last night's
game where Wheeler struggled again against this Atlanta Braves team.
And I know that Wheeler is an incredible pitcher, and
I'm not worried about it one bit. I'm just curious,
what is your take on that? And is it anything
significant if if these two teams were to meet up
in the playoffs? You know where I'm going with this.

(12:33):
Is this something that we should be concerned about that
Atlanta is comfortable against one of the best damn pitchers
in baseball and Zach Wheeler.

Speaker 7 (12:41):
I mean, yeah, yes, and no, I don't really think
it's anything truly to write home about.

Speaker 8 (12:48):
But I think, matter of fact, is Wheeler just through
some bad pitches. I mean, it's not like he.

Speaker 7 (12:53):
Got rocked all night. It was one inning. He allowed
four runs in the first sitting. I don't believe he
allowed a hit before that.

Speaker 8 (13:02):
I might have been like one.

Speaker 7 (13:04):
So, I mean he was cruising early, just got knocked
around a little bit in the fourth.

Speaker 8 (13:07):
Listen, I think you.

Speaker 7 (13:09):
Know him going Game two and and and both of
the games yesterday. I try not to take too much
into doubleheaders. They just always tend to end up a
little funky. And not like he really got thrown out
of his sort of routine that much. I mean, even
though he did, he was technically supposed to pitch Wednesday.

Speaker 8 (13:28):
But no, I mean I don't. I don't take a
ton of do it. He's still Zach Wheeler.

Speaker 7 (13:31):
We know he only gets better once the once the
calendar hits October.

Speaker 8 (13:36):
Yeah, I am. I am not necessarily worried about Zach
Wheeler at all.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
All right, and Mark, obviously, if you have any questions
for Luke lavit Says's Bank Park, please fire away. But again,
a significant series they took two or three against the
Atlanta Braves, Luke, I just want to know from your perspective,
being able to see that game up close two nights ago,
and obviously watching both games yesterday, I know that the
Alanta Braves have been played by injury and it's been

(14:00):
some funky stuff that they're dealing with. But man, they
got some pretty good names when they step in that box,
and of course the pitching staff and I feel like
we've been waiting for them to hit the gas pedal
and even as bad as they are, they're still floating
around five hundred right now. Your thoughts after watching Atlanta
Braves up close, is this a team that's going to
figure it out? Coming up soon here? And you won't

(14:22):
be surprised if they're in the playoffs this year.

Speaker 8 (14:24):
No, yeah, I think this team. I mean, granted, listen, everyone.

Speaker 7 (14:27):
In the National League's gonna have to fight for a
playoffs spot this year.

Speaker 8 (14:31):
Nobody is going to cake walk into this playoffs.

Speaker 7 (14:33):
I don't care if you're the Dodgers, if you're the Phillies,
it doesn't matter. Everyone's gonna have to earn their spot
this year in the National League because it's a loaded league.
It's miles more competitive in the American League this year.

Speaker 8 (14:46):
But yeah, I mean, this is a good Braves team.

Speaker 7 (14:47):
They've always been a good baseball team. They were a
good baseball team last year. They were just always hurt.
When they're healthy, they're good. I mean Ronald Acunya, Marcelazuna,
Mattels and Alston Riley. Alb's Michael Harris, I will say
yesterday seemed like a tough blow, another one to their
pitching staff. That's that's going to be a situation for

(15:10):
me where that's gonna be their main concern at the deadline.
They're gonna need a starter. A Jason Schalder went down yesterday.
He said he felt a pop in his elbow, which
I think we all know what that ends leading to
so that that is that is not good.

Speaker 8 (15:24):
He had a pretty nice start to his season.

Speaker 7 (15:26):
But yeah, that's a that's a scrappy little Braves team.

Speaker 8 (15:29):
They're they're they're never out of the game.

Speaker 7 (15:32):
They have the pop, they have the stars, they have
one of the best players in all of baseball. They
have a guy in in Ronald Acuna who I think
is one of the more skilled players all around in
the last twenty five thirty years in baseball.

Speaker 8 (15:47):
So it's that's a good little team.

Speaker 7 (15:49):
Uh, that's a nice series win for the Phillies and
they have another big one this weekend.

Speaker 8 (15:54):
Starting in about three and a half hours here.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
All right, So we got Luke Rcady live from CBP
in a It's interesting. Mark said he doesn't think you
can hear him. I don't try that testing. Can you
hear that there?

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (16:06):
I know?

Speaker 4 (16:07):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We're running three, We're running three wide.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
I knew you could hear him. Man, yeah, three man.
We've let's go here all right again, And and look
they took two or three. This team continues to win.
We got a pretty good series in baseball going down tonight,
rematching the World Series between Yankees and Dodgers Phillies are
right up there with every one of these teams and
a lot to like. But there's even more so to
like about this team. When Bryce Harper's back in the lineup?

(16:34):
Can we expect now again? Full disclosure, I haven't checked
my timeline, been running around like maniac all afternoon. Have
no idea what's been said. Do we expect Bryce Harper
back in the lineup tonight?

Speaker 7 (16:43):
No?

Speaker 8 (16:44):
So he is out tonight. He's not in the lineup tonight, And.

Speaker 7 (16:48):
To be quite frank with you, I wouldn't expect to
see him this entire weekend.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Really.

Speaker 8 (16:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (16:53):
So, he talked to a few reporters about a twenty
minutes ago and said he's still super sore. He has
not swung a bat yet since he got hit. He
said he doesn't think he'll swing one today, although he
still hopes he will avoid a stint on the injured list.
It doesn't seem like this is an ill thing. It
just seems like something that he's really sore. It's it's

(17:17):
not really any sort of you know, big time bruise
or anything. He's just really sore. I I forget exactly
the wording.

Speaker 8 (17:25):
That he called it. He called, Yeah, something just he's
he's more than.

Speaker 7 (17:30):
Day to day, but it's not the injured list, so
I think they're just going to continue just rest him up.
That there's no reason to throw him back in a
game in May. If he's still sore. They will find
their way through it out. But and will probably play
first base for a good portion of of this weekend.
But yeah, no, there there's no reason for him to

(17:51):
just be tossed back out there this weekend if he's
not ready.

Speaker 8 (17:54):
So yeah, so he is not in the lineup tonight.

Speaker 7 (17:57):
Pretty normal lineup other than Bryce Marshes and center says
a third booms at first. Other than that, everything is
just about the same.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
All right. We got Luke Arcady of course crossing broad
dot Com read him over there live from Citizens Bank Park,
and uh, I know that no Bryce Harper in the lineup,
but still he had an opportunity to, I believe, speak
to the inquirer. I want to say, if I'm not mistaken,
he talked about Kyle Schwerber's extension. I love it. What
did he have to say, though, Luke?

Speaker 8 (18:27):
Yeah, so he was I mean basically everything you.

Speaker 7 (18:30):
Expect Bryce to say, you know, the guy who is
practically a GM, but he's really not.

Speaker 8 (18:35):
You know, he It's obvious.

Speaker 7 (18:38):
I mean, everyone wants warm back. Harper wants to warm back.
He made it pretty obvious. I mean, he he.

Speaker 8 (18:44):
Basically said that he is worth the money.

Speaker 7 (18:46):
He's a leader in the clubhouse, and he's just an awesome.

Speaker 8 (18:50):
Guy to have around on and off the field.

Speaker 7 (18:52):
I couldn't tell you one person in this organization that
doesn't want Kyle Schwarber back on this team next year.

Speaker 8 (18:58):
He is. He is obviously priority number one.

Speaker 7 (19:01):
I know Preston Mattingly spoke a few days ago and
he said Schwarber is an obvious number one priority for them. Sean,
I give this about a ninety nine percent chance that
he's coming back.

Speaker 8 (19:14):
There's to me, there is just no possible shot that
they let this guy leave the clubhouse.

Speaker 7 (19:20):
He's he's too important on the field, and arguably he's
too important off the field as well. It's just he
is an all around leader. He's one of the best
signings that this team has ever had. He's on a
bargain of a contract. He makes less than twenty million
dollars a year. It's I mean, and he is going
to make more than that. I will tell you that

(19:41):
his next contract is going to be more than the
nineteen and a half that he makes.

Speaker 8 (19:46):
Right now a year. But he is priority number one
for them. Obviously.

Speaker 7 (19:50):
Bryce Harper wants him back, and I think everybody here,
everyone that's listening, everyone that's on Twitter, I haven't seen
many people that.

Speaker 8 (19:59):
Don't want Kyle Schwarman back on this team after this.

Speaker 6 (20:02):
I'm actually I'm not even worried about it. With Debrowski's
comments with him either. I really don't see a scenario
where he's not brought back. I think I think Dobrawski
tops whatever off for he gets given. But Luke I
wanted to check in and ask about mckabel. I saw
he had another good outing in the minors. I feel
at this point with the bullpen the way it is,

(20:24):
I get it if they're trying to keep him as
a starter and keep him in his your team. I
think they need to find a way to use Abel
and Painter pretty soon on the major league roster, whether
that's shuffling around who's currently starting or putting them into
the bullpen. I don't think Painter Painter's starting until you know,
the end of the year. Probably, But is there any
chance we see either of them soon? Any chance we

(20:44):
see Abel in the bullpen?

Speaker 8 (20:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (20:47):
So as far as Abel, I mean they like him
as a starter right now. Obviously this team has a
lot of starting pitching. I mean you could say, and
I always say, you can never have enough pitching right now,
they have a little too many starting pitchers. But yeah,
I mean as as far as able, I think down
the road, I I think it's an option. I think

(21:09):
it's going to have to be an option because they
obviously lose Alvarado. I don't think you're getting the match
strong you got last year right now, So they're going
to need a guy. Obviously, it did seem like they
reached out to former Philly uh.

Speaker 8 (21:30):
Havevid Robertson, but he was due.

Speaker 7 (21:33):
He wanted like fifteen million a year or something like that,
some outrageous price, So I don't think.

Speaker 8 (21:38):
Yeah, I don't think that's happening.

Speaker 7 (21:41):
So yeah, I mean they're gonna have to get creative eventually,
because I think they're gonna have to do something to
this bullpen.

Speaker 8 (21:49):
Before the trade deadline.

Speaker 7 (21:51):
I don't think it needs to be, you know, some
big drastic thing, but I think eventually down the road,
I think.

Speaker 8 (21:57):
I think ranger to the.

Speaker 7 (21:58):
Pen might have to be an option for them eventually,
once Nola comes back, and it seems like Nola is
back to the Nola we.

Speaker 8 (22:05):
Know if that does happen, but yeah, I mean.

Speaker 7 (22:09):
It's going to have to be an option probably for able.
As far as Andrew Paynter. It seems like they're still
on the same timeline. I believe it was Tuesday we
spoke to Rob and he basically said, it's the same
plan July ish. To me, it seems more early July
to me, rather than late. I don't know how many

(22:32):
more eighty five ninety pitch starts you can have him
throw in triple A. So I think eventually he's gonna
come up, I think closer to the beginning of July
rather than the end of July. But it seems like
his debut will still be in the month of July.
I mean, maybe if somebody were to go down and
they would really need him, maybe it would be June.

(22:53):
But they are hell bent on on his plan. They
have a they have a strict plan for him, and
they are sticking to that July timeline.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
All right.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
Luke Rkenny live from Citizens Bank Park.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
I did not know that well. First of all, Reee
Hoskins returning, it's a big talking point, a lot of
focus on the former slugger for the Phillies. Great to
have him back. I know he did a podcast with
Todds a LeKi and Ruben a Mari. Yeah, and I
know that you put out a quote, so I know
you listened to it. Anything there of substance. Again, Reee

(23:27):
Hoskins a Philly fan favorite, and he's gonna get a
roaring round of applause. It's gonna be a lot of
fun to have him back in the ball yard again.
But still it's the brew Crew and this is a
big series. But your thoughts on Reese returning yet again.

Speaker 8 (23:40):
Yeah, No, it'll be cool.

Speaker 7 (23:42):
I mean, he's he's one of my favorite Phillies of
my lifetime. I still think he's one of the more
underappreciated Phillies.

Speaker 8 (23:51):
There was no hope. There was not a lot of
hope before Reese came up. Those twenty sixteen twenty seventeen days,
they were dark, and the Phillies brought this guy up.

Speaker 7 (24:01):
In in In Hoskins and he hit like eight home
runs in like fifty at bats and and he he
really started to give Philly fans hope again. He was
the guy that the long guy. I mean, it was
him and Aaron Nola. Those are the two guys that
have been with this team through through just about everything.
So yeah, I mean, it's it's always it's always nice
to see him back.

Speaker 8 (24:21):
He's he's just an awesome dude.

Speaker 7 (24:24):
Him and his wife have done so much in the
community here in Philly, out in Milwaukee now that they're
out there, just a really good, down the earth dude.

Speaker 8 (24:31):
I'm excited to see him again tonight.

Speaker 9 (24:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (24:35):
The the interviews are interesting, man, because you know these
and they're not necessarily rumors, they're just you know, some
some some sparks. I wrote an article for Crossing broad
that kind of got some of it moving, and it
had a little more views on that article as far
as Twitter than I thought it was going to. But yeah,

(24:55):
I mean, if you're okay with Bryce moving back to
the outfield, if that's something that they're truly committed to
to be open to, and I mean Harper said in
the offseason if they were to go after Alonso, he
would be willing to move back to the outfield.

Speaker 8 (25:12):
He said that last offseason. If that's still the plan,
I mean, it kind of makes sense.

Speaker 7 (25:19):
If the Brewers are still floating around that five hundred
mark around the trade deadline, they might not necessarily sell
all the way, but they could look into a guy
in Reese who's on an expiring contract making a good
amount of money.

Speaker 8 (25:31):
They do have a mutual option next year, but it
just kind of makes a little sense to me.

Speaker 7 (25:37):
I don't know. I it's very you know, based off
of the fan reaction right now, it's it's extremely split.
But it's a guy who's on pace for the best
batting average of his career, the best on base percentage
of his career.

Speaker 8 (25:53):
He said on the podcast that.

Speaker 7 (25:55):
He made a bit of a swing adjustment about two
three weeks ago and it's really helping him. He's he's
not getting as high on the leg kick. It's it's
more now like a toe tap, and it's really really
helped him. There's not necessarily maybe as much power as
the old rees that we know, but I mean he
still has I think seven or eight home runs this year.

(26:17):
I think his slugging percentages around the four to fifty mark.
So I mean he's still getting the ball out of
the ballpark. But I think it's I think it's on
the table. I don't necessarily think it's some like number
one priority for them to go get rees hops into
the deadline, But if the Brewers do look to sell
any bit, I think Reese is probably at the top
of that list, just because he's on that expiring contract

(26:39):
and he makes a lot of money. But yeah, I
mean I think it's It could definitely be on the
table in a few months.

Speaker 5 (26:46):
It couldn't make more sense.

Speaker 6 (26:48):
I mean, they need a right handed bat, they need
a power infusion. Even still with his power being a
little down, he's still on pace to hit twenty three
twenty four homers this year. He's got four years or
four years, He's had twenty seven or between twenty seven
to thirty four homers here as a Philly.

Speaker 5 (27:02):
One twenty five ops plus as a Philly.

Speaker 6 (27:05):
When he was here, um currently a one thirty five
ops plus. The Reese Hoskins, the way some fans talk
about him just shows that you know, this is this
is one of the you know, I'm the dumbest fan
base and I'm part of it, and I get done
sometimes too but this fan base is, you know, toxic
beyond belief. The fact that we don't have anything but

(27:26):
only positive memories about a guy who was here for
seven years, a guy who was part of our world
series run to the world series, a guy who never
had an OPS below seven ninety four, never had an
OPS plus below one twelve. It boggles my mind that
there's nothing but absolutely positive memories and thoughts about this guy.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
It's a joke.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
A lot of toxicity on that timeline.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Mark.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
Sometimes you gotta mute some names, right, I know, you
tell me that one.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
All right, Well, good chat here on this one. Luke,
she had an extended visit here lat from CIS's Bank Park.
Make sure you're following lukeing off things socials readingmacrossing broad
dot Com. Once again, d L. Hall, the lefty get
in the start, was not sure who was actually going
to get the start tonight.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
But it looks like that that's the case. It is
the case is not looking like that.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
The case Taiwan Walker will be getting to start for
the Phillies. Phillies are a minus one fifteen favorite here.
Nine and a half is our total. I believe they're
going to get this game. And however, I did just
hear Cecily Tynan talk about one to three inches tonight possible.
So who the act knows what is going on with
the weather around, But if this game is played, how
are we feeling about Game one tonight at the Bank

(28:37):
here for the Phills.

Speaker 7 (28:39):
Yeah, I'm all over a shore bomb tonight. The dude's
just been crushing lefties. I mean, he's got a one
to one seven zero ps. He's he's slugging seven thirty
three against lefties this year.

Speaker 8 (28:49):
I will take a swore bomb tonight.

Speaker 7 (28:51):
I'm also going to take try two bags and Phillies
money line, so we can toss that together and look
at what those odds come out to. That's my little
three lagger tonight for the game.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
I dig it, I dig it all right, great stuff
as usual, Luke. Can't thank you enough for popping by here.
Enjoy the game. Will continue to follow you on up
things Socials as you take in tonight's game. Hopefully they
get this one in and we'll be back on Monday
recapping it all as always right here in the Daily Ticket,
Luke Arcady love from Sisters Bank Park.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
Always pleasure, sir, sir.

Speaker 8 (29:22):
Thank you guys.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Mom man there he is great stuff there. While I
have you Mark, let's hear this one from from yesterday.
I believe Scott Franski with one of his better calls as.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Usual, just keeps it playing, keeps it simple. Let's have
a listen.

Speaker 9 (29:37):
The right haters pitch swung hot, blasted cats in that
one way gone up into the second deck. Kyle Schwarmer
gives the Phillies the breathing room.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Oh that's so good.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Courtesy of the Phillies Radio Network. Right there, one more
time for the people on the back.

Speaker 9 (29:53):
The right haters pitch swung hot, blasted nobody's cats in
that one.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
So good.

Speaker 6 (30:00):
I'll say I'm famously not a t MAC guy. Generally,
I think T Max overrated. I love France, you think
he's one of the best in the business. What I
will say he nailed the strike three call in Game
one of the double header yesterday with bases loaded, obviously
two outs in the ninth big moment. To me, that

(30:23):
felt like the biggest moment of the year right right there,
so far, and that that bottom of the ninth it
felt like, you know, that at bat really decided the game.
No matter what you're only up one run, you had
nothing left in the bullpen to go to. If that
game even just went to extras, let's say that, and
then you know, it was either finish it right there
or it felt like a loss with a game coming

(30:44):
that night that we already knew was gonna be difficult
with the bullpen guys that we used in the first game.

Speaker 5 (30:49):
So maybe it was, you know.

Speaker 6 (30:51):
Parlaid with the fact that we had the knowledge night
that the second game of the double header was gonna
be tough. But when you have a shallow bullpen the
way that we do, it's it's gonna make doubleheader it's tough.
So I felt like getting that win, clinching the series
win was to me the biggest moment of the year
so far, especially you know, came down to that one

(31:11):
single at that it felt like.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Yeah, yesterday was was a great game one. Game two
kind of just like suck the wind out of it,
and it just was like, all right, well keep it moving,
and normally I would It's just that Wheeler got hit
up pretty good in game one the first time that
they matched up down in Atlanta, and oh, by the way,
he was the same pitching match of Chris Sale and
Zach Wheeler. This is intriguing. This one struck me as

(31:37):
a surprise. Chrissel made history yesterday. Did you see that first?

Speaker 5 (31:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (31:42):
He was. He is now the youngest pitcher or the
Sale the fastest to twenty five hundred k's and he
took it from Randy Johnson. That was that cut me
off guard there. I just I know, Chris Sale is amazing,
Like nobody has to explain that to me. I know
he's been dominant, but the age and he did it

(32:04):
the fastest, It was very intriguing. It is a big
time number. I do have a write up here from
MLB Network. The last of his eight strikeouts was the
twenty five hundred of his career. He is the thirty
eighth pitcher in modern history to hit the milestone, and
just the fortieth to ever do it. Per the Elias
Sports Bureau, he is the first pitcher to ever reach

(32:25):
this mark in less than two and twenty six innings
or less.

Speaker 6 (32:32):
Yeah, I mean, Sales unbelievable. I think Atlanta I walk
out of the series film like Atlanta's you know, back
to being really good. I heard my buddy Jeff Fritz
kind of saying like, oh, the Atlanta era is over.
It's Philly's Mets for now on. I think we had Atlanta,
you know, missed Strider and Acunya for the first two
months of this year, and now they're back, and I

(32:52):
think they looked like the team I expected them to
look like.

Speaker 5 (32:55):
Obviously tagged Wheeler in Game.

Speaker 6 (32:57):
Three, I don't put too much stock into that Wheelers
have the best start of his career leading into that game.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
I don't really care too much. A Wheeler gets a
little grace for me, for sure.

Speaker 6 (33:06):
And honestly, if you're going to pick a bad game
to have a bad outing or a game to have
a bad outing end, that was not a bad one
to do.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
We had already won the series.

Speaker 6 (33:15):
You had a tired bullpen, so even if you had
a good game, the offense didn't score anyway, So you know,
get your stinker out of the way.

Speaker 5 (33:23):
I'm fine with it.

Speaker 6 (33:24):
But even in the first game of the doubleheader, no
put no picture out of the bullpen came in and
just had a clean inning. They got after every single guy,
and No, the Braves fought every inning of that game.
One the first game, even Ranger got out of jams,
but I felt like they were.

Speaker 5 (33:45):
They were hitting Ranger pretty hard.

Speaker 6 (33:46):
Ranger was just able to get out of you know,
first and second bases, loaded type situations a couple of times,
which he's better at than anybody. I think Atlanta is
going to be right back in the mix. They're already
barely under five hundred. They started one in eight, so
if you look at since then, they're like twenty five
and twenty in the last forty five games. I think
they'll probably continue more at that base.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
Yeah, and Spencer Strider will eventually come into Spencer Strider form,
as he threw ninety pitches and looked pretty good in
that first game against the Phillies. And no, by the way,
you know, not picking on Jack Fritz by no means,
but it's like, all right, let's look at the schedule
before you start saying stuff like that. In June slash
early July, essentially June ninth is when you really look

(34:29):
at them and that schedule and go, okay, now's a
good time for the Braves to turn it on. From
a betting perspective, it's not what I want, per se,
But from a betting perspective, they got the Brewers. Then
we get the Rockies. It's always good when you have
the Rockies on the calendar, then the Mets, the Marlins,
then they get the Braves, are the Mets again, then
they get the Phillies. So before that June ninth to

(34:51):
a little before fourth of July, that could be a
spot where the Braves hit the gas pedal and show
the people that they're not exactly just done yet. In
the conversation, we'll talk a little bit more about that
one as we get closer in the month June.

Speaker 6 (35:05):
It'll be tough for them to get into the division
in terms of waiting the division.

Speaker 5 (35:10):
To win a wild card pretty easily.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Yeah, definitely, and make life miserable for everybody in front
of him too as well. So all right, and you
know what, I do have one here, Mark, while we're
still on MLB, and as I brought up the schedule
for the Braves, they will be taken on the Angels
on July the first Mike Trout returning to the Angels today.

(35:33):
Is it a bad thing if I really didn't know
that Mike Trout was hurt and the Angels have been
good too, which is crazy.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
You know, Look, I had a busy May.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
Okay, we had a birth of my child and things
took me off. But I was like, wow, Trout was hurt.
I don't even remember him getting hurt, but he missed
twenty three games. If I'm not mistaken, he was returning today.
He had nine home runs. I remember he was hitting
a couple of bombs to start the season. But Mike
Trout back, and you know, like, I don't want to
dig too much on him because he's one of the greats.

(36:03):
Never played a game, and I'm a huge Mike Trout fan,
but this is just part of the course where it's
like he's out there and you know, I live and eat,
sleep and drink this stuff. And I was like, Trout
was hurt, Like maybe I remember that. I don't know,
but I've been paying attention to the Angels too, and
they've been actually winning games. So I just hit me
a little bit where it's like it's just it's, like

(36:24):
I said, more more of the same part of the course.
He's out there with the Angels and life is easy,
and I know Washington's the coach and all that, but
we're is like Trout to be in a little bit
more of.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
A spot that we could watch a little bit more.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Let's put it that way.

Speaker 5 (36:39):
It's too late now.

Speaker 6 (36:40):
It's not even like interesting. The forty eight games in
two years he's played like, I don't even it's not
even like a well, let's get him to a good
team anymore.

Speaker 5 (36:49):
It's like, let's see if you can play baseball.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
It's crazy, very true on that one, very true.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
All right, quickly on this Phillies tonight, like him anything
for you in the game.

Speaker 5 (37:00):
I don't.

Speaker 6 (37:01):
I don't love tonight. I'm staying away the bullpen. Everybody
in it pitched yesterday.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
High number at nine and a half. That's kind of
telling me something there.

Speaker 5 (37:13):
Yeah, I would lean towards the over.

Speaker 6 (37:15):
If I was going to take anything in the game,
I would lean towards the over. I think the Brewers
probably wednesdnight, if you made me guess, and then the
Phillies probably answer back tomorrow. Obviously, Taiwan is the worst
you're going to feel about any guy who goes on
the mound for the Phillies. Obviously, he's got a two
nine eighty ra it's been been really good. I think

(37:36):
you know, he could explode any inning and give up
five home runs. And none of us would be surprised.
So I think in Minnesota, I think Milwaukee probably gets it.
Gets it done tonight, all right.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
And then finally, in the world of baseball.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Ten ten pm, what will you be doing out there
on a Friday night?

Speaker 4 (37:55):
Will you be watching the Yankees and the Dodgers game?

Speaker 8 (37:58):
One?

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Of course, these two teams faced off in the Fall Classic,
where the Dodgers defeated the Yankees in the five games,
their first championship since nineteen eighty eight. Looking to defend
the title, Yankees are looking good right now, first time
that the Yankees made the World Series in fifteen years, Mark,
would you be shocked if these two teams were back

(38:19):
at it in October?

Speaker 5 (38:21):
No, definitely not.

Speaker 6 (38:22):
What I will say is, do not bet against the
Dodgers when they're an underdog. I think it's dumb that
they're ever an underdog. I know how good Max Freed is.
The Yankees have a better record than the Dodgers. I
think the Dodgers are an underdog to nobody, so I
get that there's a pitching disparity. Tonight, I'm not betting
the game, but if I was going to bet the game,

(38:44):
I bet the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
Gonsolin plus one oh five at home total coming in
at nine. Max Freed, as Mark pointed out, pretty damn
good season so far, minus one twenty five one quick one.
Though you do have a play in the Podgers and
the Pirates.

Speaker 6 (38:56):
Yep, you have only one play tonight, I was looking
at Ray's astros over seven and a half. I thought
about that one ended up staying away, But yeah, going
with Padres minus one and a half. Paveta has been
really really good two seven ERA for San Diego, and
Mitch Keller is one of Pittsburgh's better starters, but San
Diego actually has pretty good numbers against him. San Diego

(39:19):
played Pittsburgh three times already this month, smoked them in
two of those games.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
This Pirates team absolutely stinks.

Speaker 6 (39:25):
So give me the Padres minus one and a half
plus one twenty I thought that was a really good
price on the run line here for the Padres.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
All right, got Mark Hevery Jr. For the first hour,
we're gonna take quick time out, we're gonna come back,
and then we're gonna get over to the world of
the NFL. You know, like of course, the Titanic was
taken down by an iceberg, right, and there's some teams
out there in the world of the NFL. Now, Mark
right now thinks are steering directly for that iceberg and
are going to go down like the Titanic Land. Oh,

(39:57):
the Captain Mark Henry Jr. Is gonna have some fun
to talk about some teams in the NFL that are
going the wrong direction. Also inside the insiders, of course,
we had some breaking news earlier from the insider in
the NFL. It's fair to say if we were power
ranking the insider, schefter's got to be one, right, Yeah,
he's top dog.

Speaker 10 (40:16):
Who's two probably Shams No, no, no, NFL ian Ian
Ian's two. Yeah, and then coffee Boy is very Shultz.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Wow, Coffee Boy, he had one about your tight end
from Atlanta. We'll talk a little bit about that one. Yes, Yeah,
we got some insight inside the insiders in the NFL.
We'll hit that as well. A lot to discuss, even
some cowboys conversation, pretty good wide receiving room right now.
Dak Prescott, of course, he's the focal point when it

(40:52):
comes to all things cowboys. A lot to discuss. Mark,
every junior riding with me for the first hour don't
touch that doll. Keep you locked right here.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
More than this Spring is in the air and it's
time to swing for the fences. All MLB coverage is
bringing heat all season long.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
Everybody moves up ninety.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
Feet, be sure to catch Luke Arcaney and Sean Brace
on the daily ticket. Only one place that covers all
the action. It's the Gambler.
