Speaker 1 (00:00):
On an absolute gorgeous day here in the Delaware Valley
on a beautiful Monday, brand new daily Ticket coming to
you for the start of a brand new Philadelphia sports week.
Sean Brace, Mark Henry Junior rolling today. Of course, Mark
can be heard every Saturday morning tough cover radio show.
We're alling at eleven am. A tremendous list and a
(00:21):
great way to start your Saturday wagering. And of course
we got to find folks Mike Girardi or Dick Gardi
and Mike Kern, John Jansen and Kyle Slash Snonemaker also
live from Parks. A great Saturday full of programming here
on the Gambler. And as I said, Mark leads the
charge for us at eleven am. Mark, we got a
lot to discuss. A busy weekend, busy week in front
(00:43):
of us Phillies. Keep it rolling looking good. Hush hush
from a lot of those loud mouths out there a
couple weeks ago, but I'm not really seeing them have
a take on the timeline these days. I am seeing
your take though. I believe yesterday before the victory, We're
Kyle Shorter hit not one but two bombs just today. Wow,
(01:03):
that first one, I'm just what a sound, What an
absolute sound. I believe the wind total for our fightings
would be ninety six if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Yeah, it's probably still right around there. I'll do a
little a little quick math here, but yeah, I've been
on the and I feel justified kind of bringing this
up as a blade. We're starting with the Phils. Everybody
was freaking out about the bullpen. Everybody wanted, you know, to,
you know, kill Dave Dombrowski for what he did this offseason.
And I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that
(01:34):
I love the moves he made in terms of losing Hoffman,
losing Estevez, only adding Romano. Maybe I would have asked
for more, but I think when you simplified it and
looked at what are the problems that could affect us
in October, That's how I'm viewing everything. Maybe that's wrong,
Maybe I shouldn't overlook the regular season, but the way
(01:55):
I see it is, I don't think this bullpen, even
if we're saying it's average now we're below average. I
think now it's actually ranked a little above average in
some metrics over the year. Since the last month's actually
second in the NL, behind the Giants in e er
in terms of the bullpen. But I don't think the
bullpen is going to prevent anything we want to do
(02:16):
in October. What I think could prevent what we want
to do in October is not having enough guys like
Kyle Schwarber who can put the ball out of the ballpark.
And I mean, what Kyle Schwerverer's doing feels even more
heightened and importance because there's just no power on the
rest of this team. And that's not to say that
it's not a good lineup. It's probably still a top
ten lineup in baseball. It's just middling to below middling
(02:39):
in terms of the power and in terms of being
able to, you know, turn a four to one game
into a four to four game with one swing of
the bat. And I think we for years have assumed
this team is always gonna mash. I mean, Rob Thompson
always says we're gonna slug and all those quotes. We
have just become accustomed to this team hitting a ton
(02:59):
of home run In the last couple of years. We've
gotten to a point where it's, oh man, does everything
have to be all or nothing? Can we have a
couple of guys who can hit for contact, a couple
of guys who can constantly, you know, get a single
when we need it. And now we're at a spot
where I still think a lot of the fan base
is like, oh, thank god, we're actually getting singles now,
and thankfully we're you know, getting on base and you know,
(03:19):
stringing hits together, and we're not going all for nothing
without recognizing what we've lost. And we've lost that power,
and we've lost that fear that we can strike into pitchers,
and that fear when it's you know, you're down two
or three runs late in a game. Right now, I
really do think you're getting by on the pitching rotation
being the best in baseball, the bullpen being a lot
(03:41):
better over the last month, and frankly, Kyle Schwarber. That
really is what it comes down to. There's some batto's
stepped up at that certain spots over the stretch, But
where would we be without Kyle Schwarber.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
This is a little bit similar to the Eagles. We
will talk some Eagles. I do have a ticket Kyle
Schwarber NLMVP. Does he have a chance in your mind? Mark?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Hey, Judior Unfortunately the nerds care too much about war
and it's it's actually funny. I was having this conversation
with a buddy of mine, Kyle Schwarber. If he continued
at the pace of home runs that he's been hitting
in his Phillies era, he could If he plays eight
nine years, he could challenge five hundred. It's not likely.
(04:26):
It's not likely. He's already low thirties. And you look
at the rest of his career, the five that's the
interesting part. He would really be testing that milestone because
he has like fifteen career war like usually there, I
forget the exact number. Is it eighty? I think it
might be eighty career war That generally is the modern
(04:47):
benchmark of what you have to hit to get into
the Hall of Fame. If Schwarber gets to five hundred,
I think you can kiss that milestone goodbye, kiss that
benchmark goodbye. I think you have to put in someone
if they hit five hundred.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Here there's twenty eight people, twenty eight players that have
hit five hundred or more home runs. I'd be shocked
if not, well, yeah, okay, a Rod's not A Rod's
not in it.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
A lot of them actually Yeah, here goes that discussion, which,
by the way, not to get into this, and I
don't want to get into this.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
It's why it's so stupid that the steroid guys aren
n We're just a racing baseball history. Yeah, get out
of here. We can't talk about the two thousands. Didn't happen, YadA, YadA, YadA.
It's like the NCAA saying, remember that title you saw
in two thousand and four, you didn't see it didn't happen.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Wait till Tree gets involved, I'll tell you what we're
gonna put all these guys. Yeah stupid anyways, Yeah, look,
Schorebert has been ripping to cover up the baseball. Every
time he steps to the dish, you feel like he
could hit a home run and uh those pops. It's
just it's something that like that's PTSD, you know, area
(06:01):
with for those pitchers, right, like the way that that
crack of the bat. It's still in my mind. I
woke up this morning still thinking that I'm hearing it.
It was just an incredible home run to get the
party started yesterday. Yeah. A couple more on the Phillies here.
We'll talk a little bit about what they have coming
up here, got you for the full forty here with
Mark Henry Junior. Coming up, we'll talk a bunch of
(06:22):
NBA with Sam Austri and Sean Binar. They went live
earlier today talking about things picks and roll, and we
got a lot to discuss as far as the NBA
playoffs are concerned. But phillies to the top of the
page here, and you know, we look back at what
took place at the end of April, specifically that three
games series against the Mets in Queens where they got
(06:43):
swept and that's when the panic kicked in. But at
the same time, forget the panic. Like I'll just speak
from my standpoint, like it was disappointing. It was disappointing
the fight. I get it was April, but it was
it was just disappointing to sit to look up at
the standings and I believe they were five hundred. I
don't think they ever got to under five hundred. I
think it was five hundred. It's just like, come on, man,
you're you're a better baseball team than five And I
(07:05):
don't care how early is the season, let's go. If
you're a championship caliber ball club, like you're not five hundred,
miss me with that and all they have done since then,
Mark Hemery Jr. Is when eleven of fourteen I believe, yeah,
eleven of fourteen, since they have fallen to five hundred
back on April to twenty fifth. So here we are.
Team looks good and there's just a lot to like
(07:27):
when a team goes out there, no matter the opponent,
and they slug and win games. And you saw that
against the Guardians so well, by the way, the Guardians
are a pretty good team. You know. Look, I know
they have their deficiencies, their flaws, all that, but just
take a look at the record. Pretty good team, pretty
good start. And you're going into their area where you
know or they're a ballpark where you know, that's a
that's a you know, a temperature. You want to check
(07:49):
the temperature on your season, on your team. You know,
that's where you want to gauge how good you are.
And the Phillies just went in there and rolled. So
nice victory again last night. By the fight in we'll
take a look at the card coming up here, we'll
talk a little bit more about what Mark's take is
overall big picture, but they do return home and now
Christopher Sanchez on the mound against Saint Louis and Christopher
(08:12):
Sanchez right now in Draftking Sportsbook minus one seventy What
else stood out from the weekend from the Phillies perspectives
Full disclosure, I was front and center all weekend long,
all week long, just just dialed so into the truest championship.
I know you look the part, but I know you
were not like us, you know, transfusion, deep enjoying the golf,
(08:34):
as they say, And what a scene, what an absolute
scene it was there at the Philadelphia Creak Club. Did
you actually tune in? Did you watch any of it? No?
Speaker 2 (08:42):
No, gorge weekend. I was super, super busy, so even
I barely even got eyes on the sports eye I watched. So,
you know, Mother's Day, all that jazz.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Yeah, but it's stump and I know that we can't
do anything about the timing. But I do want to
say that that's unfortunate because when you tuned in yesterday
to watch it on TV, the crowds were light, and
it's understood it was Mother's Day. God bless the people
that could make it. God Bless the women, the ladies,
the mothers that said let's go. But it was very
light and that was unfortunate. But at the end of
(09:16):
the day, it was a great showing by the Philadelphia
Cricket Club, great showing by Gap Philly here, everybody, the volunteers,
just the PGA tour rolling out the red carpet. Man,
what a scene it was. And watching it on television
after being there, it gives you a different view too,
So I thought it looked so cris so great, But
it was unfortunate that the final day did take place
(09:38):
on Mother's Day. Couldn't make it either.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
I would say, like, it's hard to have any huge
takeaways from the series because it's such a They scored
so a few runs kind I mean, only three runs
and in the one win it wasn't like the other
win was a high scoring game. I will say, I
think Trey who I mean Trey has been He's hitting
over three hundred over a pretty long stretch. At trade point,
(10:03):
trade him, trade him. You want to Oh, you're being
you're being sarcastic.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yeah, well, there there was a blowhard on on the
WIP a couple of weeks ago that was like sign
got rid of it.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
I'm just like, what what what, Yeah, and he's frustrating.
I mean, trade is frustrating. He's not what we thought. Yeah,
of course, of course he's not what we brought him
here to be. But I do think people get lost
in the site. I mean, this is a guy who
almost hit three hundred last year, would have hit probably
twenty five homers twenty five steals if he played the
full season. Here, he is hitting three ten so far.
(10:34):
He already has nine steals. The homers have been down,
the slugging has been down. Now. Topper came out and
said that at the beginning of the year he kind
of told him that he wanted him to hit three hundred,
wanted him to have a three seventy OVP, wanted him,
didn't care if he hit ten homers, didn't wanted him
to have forty steals or he had He had all
these benchmarks, and he was kind of saying how he
wanted him to be a prototypical leadoff contact hitter and saying,
(10:58):
you know, if the homers will take care of themselves
and that'll add to it when they come. I'd like
twenty Like I'd like to see twenty plus homers from
Trey are only as two so far, did hit one
against Tampa, barely missed one against Cleveland, and I think
hit a deep double as well. I think that the
power swing is starting to come back a little bit.
(11:19):
So I wouldn't be surprised if we you know, he's
incredibly streaky, obviously, I wouldn't be surprised if we get that.
And I wouldn't say he's been cold, he's been hot,
but just from a contact standpoint, I wouldn't be surprised
if we get that kind of one two week stretch
for he HiT's four or five homers and kind of
really really starts to be a little bit of a
power hitter, different than what we've seen so far this year.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
All Right, we're a little all over the place to
start here, but that's all right. It's a Monday. I
didn't see this full disclosure. I had to, Uh, I
had to remove the Twitter machine from the phone. I
had to. It took a little too much of the
mental and now no, I brought it back from the truist.
I got rich. Yep, you know the engage the juice
(12:03):
isn't worth the squeeze mark. It's just not The engagement
isn't there And I'm getting, you know, stuff that I
don't care like, I can't do anything about all of
my timeline. So now I'm on threads, and threads is
pretty good again, just information only. That's the only thing
good about Twitter is the information owned and threads. Threads
(12:26):
has a pretty good thing going, like it's filling the
void very slowly, but surely.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
So.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
There's some good sports follows, good rumors, good updates, you
know all that, and you know, a little less cesspool
ish if I could, even though like NBC, I follow
ABC News, excuse me, and they can't help themselves, Like
it's just like I don't care. I just just tell
(12:53):
me when.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
I think I just need to start muting. Muting words
on the timeline probably would help. That's a big thing
for me. Golf and soccer get out.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
That takes an hot of effort, though you know, I
don't want to work. I just want to get my
phone scroll.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
I'll tell you what, I think. It's really improved my
Twitter experience. I I I'm a huge muter of words,
even if it's for a weekend. If I'm done hearing
about when the Celtics won the title last year, I
don't want a week long of people.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
How many words do you have have deleted?
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Pull it up? Let's pull it up.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Let's pull Oh, let's go down the words. If you
wouldn't mind, I'll do it.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
I'll do it. I love it. Some, I uh some,
I keep to myself.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
It is the total? What's the total?
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Forty one?
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Okay, I probably have two. I think I did.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Tucker Carlson and he's on there for me as well.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Yeah, I did something else years ago.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
I'll read it down just and some of them. I
don't even know why I have these now. But The Bachelor,
the Bachelorette.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
Four Nations, four Nations is on there. You're so evil,
You're so Angel Reese, Bachelor again, Bachelorette again?
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Why does that bother you? So? Where are you getting
that from?
Speaker 2 (14:18):
I'm a big so The problem is, I'm a big
reality TV guy. So I follow a lot of the
challenge accounts, a lot of the Big Brother stuff, and
the algorithm will give you Bachelorette stuff and I'm like,
I'm sorry. I watched trash TV, but not that particular
the brand of trash TV. Banner. Don't know why banner
is muted on my timeline.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Maybe no banner.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
I don't know just I think the word banner banner
bts the singing group. I got that out of my timeline.
Don't know why at some point that that bothered me. Bundesliga.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Wow, I can't even spell Bundesliga and you got it,
Delete it.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Okay, Caitlyn Clark, uh Canada?
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Oh see, like you're an evil or you're an equal
opportunist there.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Angel got way too volatile on both sides, and I
think I'm done with hearing about it. And that's, you know,
just specuttle women in some capacity. Maybe I think it
got I think it came. I think it got past.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
That's what Twitter did. Twitter did that. Twitter did that.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
That's fair, and my answer was, I get out of here.
That's kind of I don't need any more of it.
Champions League, man, well.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Come on, dude, Champions League is great.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
EPL.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
That's to the best of the world.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Four nations but with four spelled out instead of the number.
Golf just a just a broad golf. Hockey, which is
I've been betting on a lot of hockey. That's a
bad job by me. Kid Rock made its way to
the mute list.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
K Pop Luke Bryan Luke.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Combs both made it on there. Wow, McDavid made.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
It on there to Connor.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Come on, Morgan Wallen made it on there. This is so,
this is one that's actually interesting. I didn't know this.
Nola is muted on my timeline, which I don't. I
feel like that's actually made it through. I feel like
I see a ton of Aaron Nola sweet So I
don't know, maybe that maybe this is a wrong Olympian Olympics.
The Olympics all all muted.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Didn't care? Okay, no Olympics.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
For you, PGA soccer speak The Bachelor again, Toby Keith USA,
don't know what that is?
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Wait wait, wait, I'm just gonna stop you here, because
this is what I'm gathering. You hate golf, you hate hockey,
you hate country music? Yeah, and since you did, do
you hate us?
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Apparently?
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Apparently?
Speaker 2 (16:47):
I apparently I hate the country. I don't know. W
n b A is on there, Zach Brown Band is
on there, and Zach Bryan.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Zach Brown Band, Dude, Zach.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Brown's great country music.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Oh, Zach Brown's great.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
I like congroon the song they play on College Game's.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Got a He's country. I'm not gonna sit here and
tell you he's not. But he's got a buffet vibe.
He's got like a fun party vibe. There's there's like
three or four really good like Buffet.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
I like Buffett.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Yeah, there's three or four really good songs by him
that I would definitely recommend. All Right, fun fun tricks.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
I'm there, My bad, it's good.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
No, I like it. I like it. I maybe need
to take a page out of your book and just
and get rid of it because it got me. It
got me like two weeks ago where I was like, dude,
oh it was the Shador Sanders nonsense. It was that
plus the politics plus this plus and I just said, dude,
I'm tweeting and the only people that are responding is
(17:45):
you and Ryan beef Coyle and that's it. Like it's
just like, all right, what am I doing here? Like
you know what? Move on to a different And that
was another thing too, because I'm like, if I delete this,
then it will force me to use something else, and
therefore maybe I can get something done in there. So
farts has been it, Threads has been good. I've been
getting good responses going back and forth with a few
people and against off of Instagram. So whatever. Anyways, uh
(18:09):
moving off.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
That your your Pecona's Blue Sky's biggest cheerleader on the
planet and you're you're you're mister Threads. Now yeah, dude.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
When I'm gone this week, can you guys please just
upload every video to the dropbox folder. Just please, That's
all I'm asking, Just please, for crying out loud, I kid,
all right, let's keep it moving again. Yeah, Mark Luke,
Luke check it in things. Mark say, all right, ok,
yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we got
(18:40):
it already. We got it moving on. Let's talk about
the Eagles, Mark opening up the season against the Dallas Cowboys.
You know, look, there's a lot Is there anything not
to like? I I would just the first thing I
went through my mom was should win that game? Better
(19:01):
win that game? And oh, by the way, a banner
will be dropped and Dallas will be in attendance. I
think that's pretty funny. But back to better win that
football game. Has Dallas They've made a lot of changes
this offseason. Is there anything that's pushing you, making you
sway that they're going to be better this year?
Speaker 2 (19:19):
No? No, I think it's going to be a train
reck season for Dallas. I don't think they did nearly
enough in terms of addressing their problems. I really I
don't know what their plan is at running back. Not
that I'm telling you running back is the end all
be all of anything, but I think they have really
really hamstrung Dak over the last couple of years, and
(19:40):
I think his kind of reputation has suffered for it.
I think we're at the point where I think the
casual NFL fan thinks Dak sucks or thinks Dak is
like below average, maybe even average at best. I think
that's probably unfair. I think he's probably a fringe top
ten ish guy. Like it's probably the tenth, eleventh, twelfth
best quarterback, and I think, beside Ceedee Lamb, he's had
(20:04):
nothing on that offense over the last couple years. Now,
they went out and they got George Pickens. I like
that move. I do think like from what they gave up,
I think it's a risk worth taking. I think you're
not trying to You don't have Super Bowl aspirations this
year necessarily anyway, So the risk of bringing a Pickens
(20:25):
guy type in on a contract year who maybe could
derail some stuff in the locker room. I think you're
probably less worried about that if you're Dallas, because you
know you probably have a win total of seven and
a half ish anyway this year. So I think they're
a team that made a head coach higher. That is
one of the most shocking I've seen in the last
decade of Brian Schottenheimer in terms of just being a
(20:47):
total journeyman who Jerry thinks he can keep under his thumb.
I can't believe that was the move to move on
from McCarthy. The guy they took at twelve overall was
the only guy taken in the top eighty of the
NFL Draft. We had a relative athletic score of under four. Now,
he's an interior offensive lineman, but so his athleticism doesn't
matter that much. But to me, if you're going to
(21:09):
take an anterior offensive lineman with a relative athletics score
that low that high, he better be the best interior
offensive lineman you've ever evaluated. And I don't think Tyler
Booker was that they took a guy who me and
Shane haff both had outside our top forty at twelve
overall when there was plenty of guys on the board
when I think they should have really been aggressive and
trying to move up for a Tech McMillan, move up
(21:29):
for a Nashton Gent, maybe even move a little back
and taken o'mari and Hampton. I really just don't think
there's enough talent on either side of the ball. I'm
actually doing something fun my pod. I'll be doing about
like forty minutes with Shane Half. Every year we put
together an expansion team, so we act like there's a
thirty third team, and we go through all thirty two
teams and we protect five offensive players, five defensive players
(21:53):
in one wildcard. So each team gets to protect eleven
guys that are hypothetical expansion team can't draft, so we
get to pick from the rest of the NFL. And
you really kind of when we do this exercise and
you evaluate these rosters and try to find your top five,
your top ten, top eleven guys, you really start to
see which rosters just don't have that much talent. And
(22:15):
I put Dallas on that list. I think they are
a five to six sish win roster.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Yeah, look, you know we know about CD, we know
about dak To your point, like people do undervalue Dak.
He has been his own worst enemy at times, But
I'm a fan of Dak. He puts up numbers constantly
and hasn't had much to work with. I baranas with
our assessment. I'm curious still, what is your thoughts on
Joe Milton? Do you like if he his number is
called upon and then give him an opportunit to give
(22:42):
him a spot that maybe surrounds him a little bit better.
What is your thoughts on Joe Milton the quarterback?
Speaker 2 (22:47):
I think we've talked about this before. I think he's
a backup. He's just a guy who is so talented,
so athletic, but he's a guy who throws it one
hundred miles per hour sixty yards down the field and
throws at one hundred miles per hour were five yards
down the field. There's not a lot of touch, not
a lot of like instinct on how to play the position.
I think if he wasn't going to get any like
(23:08):
takers coming after last year from a team like Cleveland
or one of these teams that was desperate and not
drafting a quarterback, I think that that was probably his chance,
if he ever was going to have one to find
a spot, and there wasn't a lot of interest outside
of you know, Dallas bringing him in to be a backup.
So yeah, I don't. I think if that goes down,
they're screwed as always, which is kind of like the
(23:29):
Dallas story of the you know, Dak's career. He has
he has missed some time. He's definitely so if you
want to knock him for that when we're talking about
these conversations, that's fair. So but if he's out there,
I still don't think they're an eight win team. Like
if he plays the full season, I think they win
(23:49):
six seven games. That's how low I am on this
Dallas team. I actually don't think six and a half
it's set. I guess six and a half. It's minus seven.
I don't think that's enough points for for Week one.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
All right, one, we do have touchdown props.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Let's wait and see the touchbush news for Jalen minus
one thirty. If there's no touchbush.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Minus one fifteen, money coming in minus one fifteen right now?
Anytime touchdown score Saquon Barkley minus two to five to
find the end zone in game one. This is insane
to be looking at here on May to twelfth. But
it's fun. It is getting the juices going seven point
spread forty six and a half. We open up the season,
(24:28):
all eyes on us and we're taking on the Cowboys. Oh,
by the way, again, are going to be in the
building when we drop the banner? That is just insane.
I love it, can't wait for it. It's gonna be
a lot of fun. First things first, still, let's enjoy summer. Okay,
what do you say about that? All right, let's keep
it moving from the world of the NFL over now
(24:52):
to let's talk some NBA and I know that we
do have some games that are taking place, but from
the seventy six ers standpoint, let's waste some time here
for a second talk about the NBA draft lottery that
they're not going to win and probably are going to
what get three or four or five? I don't know.
I have it in front of me. The Jazz, Wizards
and Hornets have the best shot of fourteen percent and
(25:13):
landing number one overall pick all by Pelicans twelve point
five six ers, ten point five Nets nine seven and
a half. I don't know, Like I want to believe
Cooper's He's the real deal. But I would rather start
talking about the other players. But we got time. We'll
see what happens. Gotta be optimist. I'm with it, have
some fun with it. But it is going down tonight.
(25:36):
I believe that is the halftime. I want to say,
or is a pregame, pre game, pre game, pre game
Celtics and Knicks, which is a pretty big game, Game
four being played in Madison Square Guard and that goes
up seven thirty five, So we're are you sure about that?
We're gonna have the pregame.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Yeah, yeah, that's always how it is. It goes before
the first game. Believe me, I'm a lottery veteran in
terms of the sixers in that process era. We'll be
with Sean schan Bernard and Sam Austrey tonight at an
unnamed lottery event.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
But so right, they do it right.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
I'm not a fan anymore. I used to be my
buddy's got tickets and yea yeah, going tickets free? No, no,
but going with some never been to Franklin Franklin Music
Hall before?
Speaker 1 (26:25):
How much were tickets?
Speaker 2 (26:26):
I think it was like thirty.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Wow, God to watch them.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
No, it's really I look at it as like you're
getting together with you know, hundreds of six Ers fans
for the opportunity if they do get one, you're celebrating
with hundreds of people, and you're part of fun videos.
And I will say, and you know, it's funny to
look back on now being in the building when they
got Ben Simmons, when they got the number one pick
for Ben Simmons. That's at the time, it was one
(26:56):
of my favorite sporting moments of my life, getting that
number one pick. And you know, I that's what followed
as a whole other conversation. But same with when the
pick swapped, when we when the pick swapped and we
ended up getting that third pick, and then you use
that to trade up for Markel Foltz. So it doesn't
work out in the end. But I look at it
as I I don't listen to the podcast anymore, but
(27:17):
I look at it as kind of getting together with
a bunch of Sixers fans on the chance that something
good happens. But to me, it's so funny. For weeks
and weeks and weeks, I've been obsessing, you know, Cooper flag,
Cooper flag ten and a half percent. We've got a chance,
the fifth best chance. We're right there. If anyone's got
a chance, we've got a chance. And now all I'm
telling myself, don't lose the pick. Do not, oh, do
(27:40):
not let this pick fall to seven or eight or else.
Burn the burn the arena to the ground. You know,
I I don't care if the Flyers play there, it's
it's over. The franchise is done. If this pick doesn't
convey you cannot go through the season we just went
through and not get a lottery pick for it. You
(28:03):
cannot give with Youlahoma City Thunder.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
No, that would be that would be a kick in
the growing big time, even worse than that. But yeah,
I you were originally talking yourself into believing that they could.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
I guess I don't believe it's rigged. I believe it's
a legitimate lottery man.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
I don't know anymore. You know, if it's rigged, where's
he going? I think Brooklyn Jazz Wizard's Hornets top three.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
I don't think it's rigged for them.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
I would see DC if anything that.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Maybe maybe if you want to try to save basketball
in a big market, that's fair. That's fair.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
I could see DC getting it for rigged purposes. But
I was never one of those guys. But man, it's
it's tough. It's a tough pill to swallow.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Like, you know, who's the rigged one recently?
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Though?
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Do you think they wanted Wemby and San Antonio think
they wanted Zion in New Orleans?
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Like? Well, you know, you know what happened was when
Lebron came out and said it himself on McAfee. It
was like, all right, I just like I was in Cleveland,
and you know I'm paraphrasing, he.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Said three was rigged for Cleveland, I believe. So I
if you're gonna convince me that it's rigged, you could
convince me that they might rig it in really special circumstances.
Youing in eighty five to go to New York, Lebron
to stay home in Cleveland. Yeah, maybe flag is maybe
Cooper Flag. It would be on that list. And by
(29:35):
the way, one that would the most annoying possibility and
one that I think the NBA actually wouldn't be mad about,
is if Cooper Flag our American, you know, our hope.
Finally we've got an American who could be one of
the best players, and he goes to Toronto. You have
to send our American export to Canada and he's not
even playing in the United States. That would that would
be a real kick to the nuts.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
Shammanard saying san Antonio, if it's rigged.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
I guess that's what he's saying to put Wemby in
flag together. I don't think the NBA wants two of
their most marketable stars in San Antonio, Texas as someone
who was just in San Antonio, Texas. I don't think
that's what the NBA wants.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
And you can't rig it like that, like the Spurs
aren't even listening.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
They have chances, No, they have two chances. They have
the eighth chance and the fourteenth chance, so they have
they we.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Got, but we gotta be honest with our assessment about
rigging it, Like you can't rig it to somebody that's
on the backside like Cleveland, where were they at when
Lebron was up and open up at the top.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
But maybe you could rig it to someone in the middle.
And San Antonio is at eight six. But I don't
think they would rig it for San Antonio.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
I don't think they. I think they probably look at
San Antonio like, you know what they're gonna be fine.
Like they've got Wemby like that, need to give them
flag necessarily.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
I would put the nets above all. I agree with it,
and then probably maybe d C or Toronto neck and neck.
But it's got to be a special circumstance for them
to agree.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Who who did Josh Harris meet with to resolve this
whole arena situation to get them to stay in South Philly?
Who came to town?
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Yeah? Oh yeah, absolutely maybe.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Look, he is making moves. He is a politician. It
feels like like you know what he's doing down there
in DC, what he continues to do in Philly. He's
a big damn deal, deep pockets for Josh Harrison Company.
But uh, you would like to believe that they're really
good owners. But then that report came out too, so
they got to be better. Go ahead.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
Sean Bernard says, wow, he that is true. Chicago had
the twelfth chance. And by the way, tonight Chicago has
the twelfth chance. They have a one point seven percent
chance at flag. Could it be rigged?
Speaker 1 (31:40):
One point seven and they got Derek Rose.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
I don't have one again tonight.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
That's brutal. All right, again, we'll see what happens a
ton of discussed as far as the lottery is concerned,
and we will be hitting on all that. Of course.
Shaan Bnard Sam Austry coming up next on the program here,
so you'll hear what those guys have to say about that,
And of course you're gonna be hearing them all week
long on Picks and Roll. I will be handling some
(32:08):
family business, so you're gonna be looking for the Gambler
Gang to be filling in a lot of the open
spots on air and then some on socialis, so be
sure you're following. And of course if you miss anything
at FOXPHL Gambler dot com, let's talk some action on
the floor. I'm really excited to see the Celtics and
Knicks Game four tonight six and a half Boston twoh eight.
(32:30):
Do or die correct for Boston?
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Yeah? Probably? I think if they lost it, I wouldn't
say do or die just you know you can.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
They can go down three to one and still win
the series.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Yeah, yeah, I do. I don't think New York started good.
They've been losing for ninety five percent of this series.
They had a couple of good runs, true, I I'm
my best bet of the night, My favorite bet of
the NBA Playoffs so far, and my best bet at
the NBA Playoffs before this was Celtics team total over
in Game three. I'm going back to the same well
(33:04):
in Game four, Celtics teams total over one oh seven
and a half. The way I looked at those first
two loss is a lot different than a lot of
people out there. They shot twenty five percent from three
and they lost those games. And everybody you know from
the mountaintops, they rely too much on the three. You
lived by the three, you die by the three. I
think the fact that they shot twenty five percent and
(33:25):
lost the game by one is kind of what justifies
their plan. If they shot twenty six percent, they want that.
To me, it actually made me even more confident in
the Celtics are gonna go win the NBA Championship. I'll
be honest.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Yeah, looked that one video that we put out. I
stated that so like people were trying to give me credit,
and I appreciated that, but I was like, yeah, but
I also said in that same clip that Boston wasn't
gonna lose the game because they make all their threes,
Like this is who they are. They're just they're an
incredible team that has some great bodies, some really good
star power. No, they don't get me around Perzinger dealing
(34:00):
with what he's got going on.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
That's the only concern. That's the real concern.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
But yeah, but the Boston, Yeah, put them in the
in the NBA Finals, and you know it, It's been
a fun series, I will say that. So I'll give
the Knicks a ton of credit for what they've been
able to do. And you know, they're fighting and brunching
the struggling now and they just got to find some
some offensive uh, some offensive production from somebody other than
(34:24):
Jalen Brunson. And I just don't know if that's going
to be enough. Even if that happens Night six and
a half, odds makers, there are Tony Boston tonight, and
then we got the t Wolves and Golden State Warriors,
and that series has been ugly due to the fact
that Steph Curry got injured. And that's a shame man
to see Steph get hurt. I think it's the first
time he's ever pulled a muscle to I believe in
(34:45):
his career, and that's going to basically put an end
to their season. Uh, Minnesota looks like they're the better
squad here A lot like the Pacers, a lot like
the Pacers. So we could have a couple of teams
that made it to their their conference champion ships last
year getting back to it. I'll see how it plays out.
But it's been fun. Man. The NBA Playoffs have been
(35:05):
hitting in a big way for me. I love it.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
If Golden State can find a way tonight, they'll win
the series.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Oh, you think without Steph? I think Steph's done for
the series.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
You think he's done. I think he's back for Game six, Okay,
at the latest. I think there's a chance he's back
for Game five. I think it's a two two series.
I think they might get Steph in Game five.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
Okay, I hope that is the case. That'd be great.
What's the number?
Speaker 2 (35:30):
Uh five tonight? It's only five?
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Yeah? The series meant from the.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
No, I don't know. I don't have that up.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Wolves or minus eight hundred Golden State plus five fifty.
That's a good play if you are thinking that. Mark
Henry Junior is right.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
No, I the problem is I like Minnesota tonight. I
do think Minnesota, but I think Minnesota probably puts it
on him. But what I the interesting part about the
series is Game one, Steph's missing after the first I
don't know, fifteen minutes of that game, Golden State goes
and wins by eleven. Game three was a great game.
Game three was really competitive, a really fun game. Minnesota
only won by five and really close game the whole way,
(36:08):
and props to Golden State for keeping it out. Game
two they got blown out, whatever, I think that was
natural Golden State one Game one there was no Steph Curry.
I'm not gonna get on them for losing Game two
and getting blown out. But Game one and Game three
you have to be impressed with Golden State's done. But
I think we probably get more of a Game two vibe.
I think Golden State had their chance there in Game
(36:29):
three to steal one without Steph, and I think it's
more likely Minnesota puts it on them, So it's interesting
for both. I liked Celtics minus six and a half.
I went with the team total over instead at one
a seven and a half. I'm kind of doing the
same thing here. Instead of going Timberwolves minus five, I'm
going Timberwolves team total over one oh two and a
half because we saw when they even hit below their
(36:50):
average amount of three, as they hit one seventeen in
game two. Now I know they scored one oh two
in Game three. I felt like they left a lot
on the table. They're in Game three and they still
hit one oh two, So they just need one more
point than they scored in Game three. The sole game
hopefully helps a little bit more at the end of
the game, I don't did you see the one video
of Draymond saying looked like five and a half to
his teammates. It's interesting because they did. I was. I
(37:13):
was a little annoyed. I had over two hundred and
a half. They hit one ninety nine with that three
that Golden State hit with like eight seconds left, then
they didn't foul down five. You don't see a lot
of down five with eight seconds left non fouling situations
in the playoffs. But I digress.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
That one definitely hit me, and I think the NBA
has a little bit of the situation on their hands
if they were honest about it. But it is what
it is. Yeah, that that's that's definitely a phone call.
I'm making a drama, Like, yo, what is going on.
We can't be doing that, but it looked like it did.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
I'm a Draymond defender, but man, don't why are you
crossing over into this now? Draymond like stay in the
lane of being you know. Yeah, the guy who plays
on the line, and we get the controversy every series,
whatever fight he got in. Now we got gambling involved, and.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
They know the numbers. They know the numbers, especially when
it's a playoff game. It's there's two games going on.
Maybe not game sixty five when there's a full slate
of games, but when there's two games, two playoff games,
and they got all day to sit around and nothing
but going on, and who's saying what, Oh, we're five
and a half point Favorite's interesting. Yeah, I'm sure Draymond's
got some sort of sports gambling, you know, uh, sponsorship
(38:27):
on his podcast. If not, he will as soon as
he's done playing. We know that. That that's one, all right, Mark,
great stuff, dude. A final take on the Phillies tonight
taking on the Cardinals. Uh, the gentleman that they are
facing is a lefty. He was a reliever. He had
sixty appearances last year. So far he's got seven starts
three three on the season three point zero seven e
ra A, Matthew Libert Liberatory.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Leave it Tour, Yeah, leave it tour. Sorry, I like
leaver Tour. I I'm scared of the Bats tonight. I
think there's a chance in general that the next two
nights might be tough for the Bats in terms of
Leebratort tonight and then really Sonny Gray tomorrow. But you've
gotta feel good about the arms on the mound. You
(39:10):
got Sanchez tonight, then you got Lozardo on Tuesday. Wednesday
is where I think might be more of an overgame.
It's a one o'clock game on Wednesday. Haven't looked at
the weather, but that's gonna be I'm sure a nice day.
You got Nola on the mound for us, who can
go either way. Even when he pitches well, he can
have a meltdown six thenning and it ends up giving
up four runs. And Eric Fetti, who has been a
(39:32):
little better recently, but I'm not a big Eric Fetti guy.
I think these next two nights are gonna be grind
him out slow. Maybe look at the under, but grind
him out slow, kind of three two four three type
games and you know, be swung by. If we can
find a little power, find a guy, find a homer
from Schwarber, maybe Bryce, it's a couple maybe what I
(39:55):
mentioned earlier with Trey kind of finding this this power
swaying a little bit. It's gonna come down to that
these next two nights. But I Saint Louis's offense, I
am not. I'm not afraid that Saint Louis offense is
gonna do much damage. The Bats have to show up.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Agreement there, enjoy the party tonight. Let's go six Ers.
Let's get ourselves a Cooper flag. Of course, a couple
of victories on the NBA hardwood, the Phillies back at
home taking on the Cardinals, Sanchez on the mounds, to
look forward to watching that, and the sports carousel rolls on.
We even mentioned the Philadelphia Eagles. We even got some
golf in. Do you have a hockey take? Like, come on, man,
(40:33):
we need on the hockey play for tonight.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
Yeah. I think I'm like fourteen. I think I'm fifteen
and ten now in the hockey playoffs. So I've been
humming along and I've been finding plus signs. I'm going
back to it tonight give me the capitals plus two
twenty five, Sean Brace maybe maybe even I didn't see
this until now. I think I'm gonna sprinkle on plus
one and a half as well. I'm gonna sprinkle in
there on plus one and a half at minus one fifteen.
(40:57):
Carolina bleue out Washington in Game three, but in the
first two games, Washington was up in terms of gold differential,
and we're talking about plus two twenty five. Are you
kidding me? Give me the capitals, Ovechkin, I'm riding with
putin here.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Two to one canes up in that series, correct.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Yeah, two one canes right now?
Speaker 1 (41:16):
Excellent stuff.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
Mark, also Marleen oilers later on.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Nice, I love it. See we hit it off. The
sports carousel rolls on next with pix and Roll, Sam
Oustreet and Sham Bernard coming your way. Mark Hemmery Jr.
Always a great time, sir, You're sure to following out things. Socials.
We'll catch I'll catch up later this week. Everybody, don't
touch that doll y lot right here to the gambler.
Good luck in those plays.
