(00:00):
And the Eagles came away, butthey walk off winner. Gotta love it.
Wow. Mark Hemry Jr. Well, look, all I know is
Jalen Hurts is the guy right now. We were just talking about fantasy fantasy
numbers from this year and who's numberone, and Jalen Hurts has got to
be that guy. But apparently JoshAllen or Jalen Hurts one or the other.

(00:22):
Yeah, Allen's one, Hurts histwo. Allen's played an extra game,
but his points per game on averageis still zero point two higher than
Hurts. But there's a big dropoff after those top two. Yeah.
I mean, look you when yousee what Jalen Hurts is doing, it
just he's making it happen with hislegs. That was like the first time
that that's ever happened in an NFLgame. Two quarterbacks run for two touchdowns

(00:43):
to for two touchdowns. Just insane. What these guys are doing right now.
And Jail's at the top of thatchart. So anybody that has Jalen
Hurts is just turning quarterback in fantasy. They're doing good right now. Let's
just say that much. And Idon't know it's not to say that I
didn't want them, but I thinkthat there were a lot there was a
lot of reaching going on, ifI'm not mistaken back in those draft times.
But apparently wasn't all that bad ofa reach, right, you know,

(01:07):
if he's delivering like this, Yeah, I usually don't have too much
of a problem investing in like thetop two or three quarterbacks in the late
second, early third, if youI have Alan in a few leagues,
because you know, Hurts was thehot new thing. Mahomes is the safe
guy that everybody knows, he's thename brand, and Alan kind of fell

(01:27):
by the wayside for some drafts. And even Burrow went higher than Alan in
some leagues, and even when hewas healthy, that wasn't a smart decision.
So yeah, I mean, itjust depends on each draft is gonna
be so different. You know, you're gonna get in some drafts that it's
the first round and they're taking quarterbacksand you know at that point you're gonna
have to wait, and that that'sthe value that But yeah, I mean

(01:49):
you can talk about the fantasy numbers, and I think it points to the
fact I'm saying Josh Allen and Jailenare top two by far, and obviously
we're not giving Josh Allen MVP withthe bill sitting here at six and six.
I think Jalen hurts that was thegame. He absolutely, he'd opened
the car door and sat in thefront seat last night of the MVP car,

(02:12):
and I think he's gonna keep Ithink he's gonna ride it to the
finish line. I think he's gonnabe the MVP. I think the city's
gonna have a third MVP and athird different sport in three years. You
had Bryce in twenty one, Joellelast year in twenty two, and I
think it'll be Jailing this year intwenty three. Now the front runner on
DraftKings Sportsbook plus one twenty five Mahomesplus three fifty Lamar four to one to

(02:32):
eight to one, dacked end toone, and then you get to McCaffrey,
and that's the one that's really intriguingme a little bit here as far
as with games to be played andgoing head to head, that means a
little something there. So yes, absolutely, Jalen hurts. He's in the
driver's seat right here, right now. I think it was kind of a
toss up. I think he waspretty much getting into the front seat,

(02:54):
into the driver's seat the last coupleof weeks here. But it's going to
matter with this head to head andthis game next week. It's gonna be
a big deal. It's gonna meana lot as far as for awards and
of course for a playoff seating. All right, let's head out to the
Gambler Hotline. We are joined byone of the co host from the All
Pro Green Leading show, Jerald Colton, joining us here right now and Jerrold's

(03:15):
out with me on Saturday night rockingout for an ugly, ugly Union loss.
But we don't want to waste anytime on that because last night was
just incredible. And Gerald on theGambler Hotline right now, don't know if
you were in a building last night, as a man who makes it down
to a ton of Philadelphia sports games, that has to go down as one
of the better ones you've ever beenat. If you were there, if

(03:36):
not even from the couch, youhave to feel the same. Correct,
Come on, you know, yeah, I know you were there yet,
Yeah, how insane? I amstill trying to dry out, but yeah,
but it was the most phenomenal, ugly day of my life. It
was. It was. It wassuch an enjoyable, fun victory. It

(03:59):
was there was so much much goingon on the field in the stadium,
but it was just tremendous. I'mso glad I was there. No,
that's great, And you know we'rewaxing about Jalen Hurts and just what he's
been able to do as far asthe leader and the production that follows.
But you know, Jay Kelliott justwith the kick yesterday, there are so
many things to dive into. Ofcourse, Brandon Graham passing off David Akers,

(04:21):
it was your client forever. That'sjust an unbelievable game for them to
come out and all they do iswin, Joe, because that's the big
talking point right now. Run asfar as national media is concerned, it's
like, wait, look at thesenumbers. They're getting out gained, you
know, and they just continued tofind ways to win football games. And
some are saying it's lucky. Otherlike me, I'm just saying, that's

(04:44):
what championship teams do. That's whatthe Patriots of those years with Tom Brady
did. They found a way towin games. Kansas City with mahomes,
they find a way to win gameseven yesterday, Right, that was an
ugly first half for Kansas City onthe road against Vegas. Well they do.
They come back and cover in thesecond half. That's just what championship
teams do. Sean. You know, the old saying is it's better to

(05:05):
be lucky than good, but it'sreally best to be both, and that's
what the Eagles are this year. There's no question there some luck. I
mean, Cook dropped the ball thefirst half, we had the drop touchdown
pass by Kansas City last week, and a whole bunch of other things that
broke our way. But last year, to me, the Eagles were so
clearly the best team in the NFLand in the Super Bowl, the luck

(05:26):
didn't go their way. So Ifake the luck and I won't complain about
it because there's only putting them supposedin position to win with the luck,
and it was and it's just been. It's just been terrific. And you
know when you talk about all theydo is win, and there's just something
so special about Jalen Hurts. It'sunbelievable. It's unquantifiable to some extent,
and the guy had had a sevenpasser rating in the first half still finishes

(05:50):
with almost one hundred passer rating doeseverything in the second half. But it's
a totally different game and it's hardto figure. But it's not something they
were not getting a little bit usedto, and it's just something that is
really really special at this group.About this team, You went into this
stretch of games knowing that they hadWhen they actually went into it, they

(06:11):
only had the one loss advantage onDallas and the two old San Fran And
now there's three games into it andthey have the two game cushion. And
I really thought yesterday was significant inthe fact that he didn't want to give
away a game there with San Franand Dallas coming up, and they got
themselves a little bit of cushion,a little bit of margin for Er because
we do know the whole key tothis regular season is about getting home field
advantage in that bye weekend. Rightnow, it's theirs to keep him to

(06:34):
lose. Well, we were justdiscussing the MVP race, and I know
that that kind of doesn't really matterwhen it comes down to anything as far
as the grand scheme of things witha season, it does no matter.
When I hear Joel and Bed's name, man it's a pretty good run for
this city. You know, itis a phenomenal rumble. But you know

(06:56):
we wanted to, you know,to end with a prey down broad We
need it. Yeah, get intothe World Series in Super Bowl or past
the second round, let's put itthat way. Well, we always kind
of figured that this team would giveus the best shot. All respect to
the Phillies, I never thought thatthe you know they were on that that
that well when they were getting Iguess the Diamondbacks, I guess so,

(07:18):
but not like the lead up intothis season, Like I have so much
more belief in this Eagles team asa whole than any of the other teams.
So uh, it could very wellhappen here this year. But again,
Jalen Hurts is just the leader.Dude, took the front runner as
far as the position is concerned withMVP on the odds board, has to

(07:40):
be the MVP if the award wasgiven out correct today, right, Yeah,
I mean, look, obviously LamarJackson will at consideration. Mahomes is
one of those guys like the LebronJames of the NBA that he always deserves
consideration and to some extent gets takenfor granted, but right now with the
thirteen to one Philadelphia Eagles, andhe is the quarterback in the fulcrum of
what they do, it's gotta beJaalen Hurst. But listen, I'm not

(08:01):
worried about that, and I don'tthink he is either. There are still
six games to play in this seasonand then hopefully only three playoff games,
so there are still nine more gamesleft that you that are more concerned than
the MVP. But right now,if we're to end today, he'd be
the MVP. But it doesn't endtoday. Yeah, and Gerald touched on
it with Joel and not wanting tohear his name. And by the way,

(08:22):
before I get to my point,we mentioned parades down broad Street.
You mentioned the second round. Idon't know about you, guys. I'm
down to throw a parade down BroadStreet if we just get out of the
second round with the six concern heprobably would have if we won the in
season tour. Yeah, interesting thing. Will we see an in season tournament
parade? I think I think that'dbe fun. But you mentioned the not

(08:46):
caring about MVP thing, and somethingthat I think is so important with Jalen
is I don't think Jalen does either. I really don't think he cares,
whereas and I love him. You'renot gonna find me slandering Joel Embiid very
much. But I think Joelle Embiidcared just as much about the MVP is
just about anything else in his worldlast year, whereas Jalen's got one focus

(09:07):
and the main thing is the mainthing. I mean, how important is
it to have a guy like that, not just I mean not just as
as your quarterback, but as theleader of your team. And I feel
like as he goes, the teamgoes. I mean, how important is
having that at the front of yourteam? You know, it's so interesting.
I think you just make such agreat point that Joel and Jalen are

(09:31):
wired differently. They're both super servesand we're fortunate to have both of them.
And I'm not really trying to detractfrom Joel and what he's done when
he's meant to this team in thecity and how he keeps the six years
relevant. But he's not all aboutwinning in my own belief, and Jalen
is all about winning. And thefunny part, of course, is that
football is the ultimate team sport, but the quarterback is a very very unique
position, and you have a guywho's just all in, does whatever it

(09:54):
takes, as humble as can be, and has this amazing way of leading
without being the most vocal person you'veever seen there. I can't measure When
I was talking to some Eagle scoutsover Thanksgiving that I got together with that,
I'm like, you know, he'sthe kind of guy that makes scouting
so difficult because when you come outin the draft. Obviously the Carson Wentz's

(10:18):
and Jared Gofsey were one two,and the Mariota's and the James Winston's they're
clearcut. Their athleticism and all thosethings are so obvious. Jalen's so much
more subtle. And I don't knowhow you measure heart, leadership and intelligence
that this kid brings. And weare just so lucky to have him.
His maturity is so beyond years andwith him that this team and I watch

(10:41):
them and they are in difficult situations, they always believe they are going to
win, even when they're lined upto kick a ring sood fifty nine year
field, but they still believe they'regoing to win. And I think that
really comes from him. And Siriannaon down. All right, Gerald,
Jake, it steps up. MarkHenry Junior said he thought he was making

(11:03):
it fifty nine yards out. Takeme through at the end of regulation yesterday,
did you think, well, twentyseconds left to excuse me not at
the end of the regulation. Don'ttell the Bills that they didn't realize they
needed out the other time that wasthat was wild. No one's bringing that
up today. Well, no,I've heard. Yeah, I heard people
bring it up because of what wentdown when they played the Chiefs exactly thirteen

(11:24):
seconds and he used his time out. They could have had two timeouts with
twenty seconds instead. They said theykneel on it. But you know that's
mc thermat, that's Buffalo's fault.And yeah, and I want to I
want to know if Gerald felt thesame way. I know in my section
we were terrified. It was likea lot of time you get a pi
Josh Allen throws the ball down thefield, who knows what happens. You

(11:45):
can throw it a mile, correct, I mean he was terrorizing us every
play on third down. My sectionwas still concerned that the game wasn't over
the Bills. Bills were more readyto play for overtime? Gerald, did
you think he was making that kick? And did you think that there was
enough time for Buffalo to go downthe field on the other side of it?
All right, quick background and Markyou you and and listeners may not
know. I represent I was DavidAcres agent during his career and he still

(12:07):
is my good friend. And andI believe when you're like looking at things
through history, you take the wholebody of workers, who's a better player?
And David's career here was unbelievable.Uh, but yesterday was a rough
day and David Aker's historical perspective becausehe got ten the old time lead who

(12:28):
had a band gave for the Eagles, Little David David. But listen,
he's still he still bleeds green.Even though he didn't finish his career here.
He is an Eagle for life. And you know those records are made
to be broken. What BG hasdone is incredible and a very deserving person
to take over most games played. And then the other thing is Jake I
knew was getting close to maybe passinghim in people's mind as the best kicker

(12:52):
in Eagles history. Of course,he's the only kicker to have won a
Super Bowl, and he made bigkick in the Super Bowl, but he
has made an unbelievable amount of incrediblylong clutch kicks. I really think his
kick against the Giants in the earlypart of twenty seventeen was one of the
big things they catapulted onto the momentumin that season. And then this and
this year, he's hit some incredibleones, none more amazing than what he

(13:16):
did yesterday. And frankly, issean to answer your question, I actually
thought he was gonna make it becausethis guy has always made it. He
has come through in the clutch everysingle time, no matter how long,
no matter how difficult, and nowno matter how wet, and it was
just absolutely incredible that he came through. And you just don't. You don't
win the game without that stuff. And is there is there some luck in

(13:37):
evolved? Maybe, but it's ifhe's done it enough times, and I
don't I'm not going to give itjust luck. Well Gerald, the question
now, well, now our attentionturns to the forty nine ers, and
I'm wondering whether or not that thedefense is going to be a little bit
too beat up to go up againstthat run game with McCaffrey and Debo and
of course you know everything that goesin take on a Shanahan offense. You

(14:01):
know, Jordan Davis's thing, dufFletcher Cox. It doesn't look good.
Where are you at right now forthis game against the forty nine ers,
oh by the way, where theEagles are an underdog at home of two
and a half points right now?Yeah, I'm a little ding. Oh
wait, that's not what you were. It was a john as you know,
it was a rough but yes,I do know it was a rough

(14:22):
day in link of financial and thecrowd. In the crowd I'm talking about
and I think Mark even witnessed somethingby the by the Bills bench and there
were people Ralph and puke and allover. Oh geez, those we're thirty
games in the rains. It was. It was kind of ugly there,
but it ended beautifully and that's allthat matters. But look, the health

(14:43):
and when we talk about luck, the health might be the number one component
of winning a championship. It's sohard to figure and and you gotta wonder
a little bit about the Lane Johnsonthing. You know, we we we're
hoping that Dallas comes back, whichgreat and now. And I saw Fletcher
after the game and he told me. All he said to me about is

(15:03):
he was he was limped, butwalking. He just said, I'll be
fine. And and you know, this is a guy who knows his body
and knows how to play over allthese years. And I got to take
him as a word. But youstart getting worried about about growing injuries type
things. There's there's nagging, pullingthings. Cunningham got his got it,
got a hamstring. Ella stepped inand did a great job. But staying

(15:24):
healthy right now is the key.You have that two game cushion, and
I wouldn't push anybody, even thoughobviously the fall off from Eline Johnson to
Driscoll is enormous, and you guystalked about, you know, sort of
needing the kids to step in andplay. Maybe too many reps in the
absence of a Fletcher Cox is big. But the key is to be healthy

(15:46):
down the stretch. And with thetwo game cushion, I just wouldn't push
anybody. And when asked some ofthose guys, because it certainly could hurt,
there's no question there are some hugedrop offs when you go to the
backus and and none bigger of course. Besides, if Jalen would go did
ever get hurt? And Lane Johnsonto Driscoll or Dallas Goddard to whoever we
put in there. Those drop offsare huge, but but they've survived them.

(16:10):
You're right, and Stall had anice little catch and run ran over
one of those defenders, got theplace woken up a little bit more,
and uh, you know, Iwas worried as far as Driscoll game or
play one and Jalens running for hislife. It's just like, oh no,
this is gonna be tough. Yeah, I'm talking about on a defense
side of the ball. Clearly numberone on that list needs to be Lane
Johnson. But we'll see what happensthere. Woke up with a little bit

(16:33):
of an irritation to his grind.I hate when that happens. You go
to bed on a Saturday night. We got a little irritated growing. Yeah,
that's that's a tough one. Butthe jokes right themselves sometimes. Anyways.
Yeah, Jerald, tonight though theAll Pro Green Legion show back at
its normal time six to eight pm. We're doing Mondays from here on out.
No more uh interference from any ofthe games or anything along those lines.

(16:59):
I believe maybe we might get flowing. We got some holidays coming up.
We'll worried. We do have someholidays. You're right, But tonight
six to eight pm, it's goingdown Chickens Beats and Mountain And you guys
have a great Philadelphi Eagle player comingout in Sydney Brown. I'm excited about
tonight. Well so were we sewing. If anybody listening can come on out
please do. We just have somuch fun this year. We've been rotating

(17:22):
a different player every week and everyone of them has been phenomenal, both
with their stories and insight into thegame, as well as interacting with the
crowd. Come get autographed pictures andyou'll you'll be very happy you did.
And Sydney Ground his first year herein Philadelphia, and I think it's the
first of what hopefully will be anice long career. Has such an incredible
story. He's so inspiring, truly. If you don't know his story,

(17:47):
listen in or come here and tellit. But you're gonna you're gonna get
chills from from this kid who camefrom Canada, which is not a football
place. And uh, you knowthey do everybody's to play hockey, and
he was doing that and was homelessas a kid whoa and and has now
made it to the National Football Leaguethrough an incredible story of perseverance of he

(18:08):
his twin brother, his mother, and truly, if you, if you
get a chance to listen to him, you'll probably move to tears. It's
that moving and that encouraging, andand and part of the reason that I
love this Eagles team so much. They have such incredible people. Last week
were the long snapper Rick Levada.Nobody knows who Rick Clevada was. But
but don't forget on Jake Kelly's fieldgoal. He's got to make a perfect

(18:30):
staple on that in the rain.I mean, that's huge. And he
was such a it's such a greatguy. And Britain Covey, who has
done such a great job fielding puntsfor this team break one yesterday. I
thought he was gonna take one tothe house up the middle. I thought
so too, and and and twoweeks ago, Spadera asked him what what
what his celebration was going to bethought about him? And when he finally

(18:51):
breaks what it would have been niceto find out. But he's a different
guy this year. But but justjust calme appreciate these guys. Every one
of them has an incredible journey tohave gotten to the NFL, and they
share it with us and and andthey share it with the crowd that comes
along, so so please and ofcourse no place better than chickens and peace,
can I gotta tell you Tonight youget the added bonus of six Ers.
Lakers will be on the screen. So come on, crowd prizing and

(19:15):
all the other good food of chickenand peace. Come saylo to Sidney Brown,
a guy who I think is goingto play a nice role in the
future for the philip Eagles, butregards is just somebody that you can really
really for a genuinely incredibles person.Would Sidney, could we make it happen
where Sidney Brown, Jack's chancing upand just like drops like could you know,
just runs and tackles them right bythe table. Tonight I think we

(19:37):
should have the demonstration. Yes,all right, this is pretend that's a
Dallas cowboy. Yes, pretend,Oh man, he packs the punch when
he gets uh the opportunity to laya hit on somebody, So it's gonna
be great. I didn't know thatstory. I didn't know his background,
so I'm really intrigued about tonight's episodeand it's it's an it's an incredible story

(19:59):
and somebody that will move you totears as well as make you a lifelong
fan of them. Jerald Colton.Always great to get you on on a
victory Monday. Great to see youover the weekend. Just a tough loss
by the Union. Thank you forcoming out and hanging on Saturday night when
we were out there at Browhouse Schmidt'sdown on South Street. Great stuff,
but you know, the good timesroll on. As you said, Eagles

(20:22):
continue to win. We got abig one against the forty nine ers this
week and we'll be discussing an allweek right here on The Gambler tonight six
to eight pm, Live for Chickensand Pizzamorrowton Jerald can't wait to listen,
my friend, And what an amazingtime have you filled off your sports fans.
Let's enjoy it. Don't knock them, don't question at ten and one
and everything else surrounding all our teams, including Joel b Part I'm guilty of

(20:45):
that. Just appreciate what a greattime it is to be a filled off
your sports fan. Let's just keepher rolling you the man Jerald will be
tuned in later. There he is, once again, Jerrold Colton on the
Gambler Hot Die. Yeah. Youknow, speaking of Philadelphia sports teams,
you had Garrett Stubbs who just resigneda new deal. He's coming back and
everyone's all upset about what he saidthat one time. Uh, well,

(21:08):
yeah, we know where the poolis. We'll be lying for there or
whatever. I mean, it doesn'treally have anything to do with it.
You never want to poke the bear. Poking the bear is not a good
thing to do in professional sports becausethese guys are wackos and they don't need
any extra motivation. Paul Reid pokedthe bear today. Did you see this?
Yeah? I liked it. Actually, I like it Paul Reid.

(21:32):
I I don't want to say anythingnegative. I don't want to say anything
negative about a guy. And PaulReid, who I really like, Paul
Reid does not bear. I meantell you, I don't think Paul Reid
thinks a lot. Ye just letsa guy. I think he's not very

(21:55):
calculated guy, That's what i'd say. I think he's just re flowing Oh
my god, he's got a microphone. Like, so they're out on a
podcast. Yeah, he does havea podcast, so they're out in La.
He literally has the Fox twenty ninemicrophone holding the old court. Yeah,
it sent me from the Sixers PRDsto maybe limit Paul read, Yeah,

(22:15):
with the one on ones. Anyways, just to let you know what
he did say. They're taking onthe LA Lakers. Uh, with Anthony
Davis, who's a pretty darn goodbasketball player. But is he perfect by
no means. It wouldn't say yesto that at all. He said the
following quote. He's a big flopper, so make sure that I don't get

(22:36):
in foul trouble early. Can't betoo aggressive with him. You know he's
gonna be flailing, So got tomake sure that I stay out of foul
trouble. That was Paul Read onthe Keys to matching up with Anthony Davis.
It is also funny because I watcha lot of basketball. I watch
a lot of the Lakers. Idon't think Anthony Davis is If I had
I agree, I had the namemy like top twenty floppers, I feel
like he wouldn't even cross my mind. I didn't think he was a f

(23:00):
opera at all. Either, I'mlike, wow, that's the first I've
heard of it. Anthony Davis, who's criticized a lot, I don't remember
hearing too much about him flailing orflopping. That's the other guy, that's
Lebron, but or it's our guy, not that I you know, and
I don't have a problem with it, like flopping to me, you know
Lebron. People went at Lebron fora long time. People go at Joel

(23:22):
about it now. I think whenyou're that big, you get a lot
of contact throughout a game that doesn'tget emphasized because you're not a little guy
like you see Trey Young and hegoes into the pain. If you hit
him the same way you hit aJoela Lebron, it is not gonna have
the same impact on the eye.So I do actually think you kind of
have to emphasize the contact some ofthe times or else you're gonna get you're

(23:45):
gonna get screwed. But I Iknow, you know, it does go
too far sometimes. But yeah,Anthony Davis not someone who I would have
you know who I would have pegged. I wonder if he just talked smack
to Paul Reid wants and Paul Reidjust hates the guy or something like I
kind of I did kind of likeit though, I like, you know,
it's a regular season game. Giveus something to something to get excited

(24:06):
to watch six minutes. Yeah, you know, it's better to happen now
than it is, you know, maybe in an NBA finals or so.
Yeah, I'm with you that one. I heard Paul Reid on the on
the right Serki Sanchez when he wasbrand new. When when Paul Reid it
was like for it first started beinga thing where we all were yelling to
play Paul Reid, and I waslike, yeah, maybe not the most

(24:27):
media savvy. Yeah, and nowhe's got a podh that's interesting. I
love the guy he does the podwith. But yeah, yeah, was
RB correct? Yeah, Schaumbernard hadhim all on the tough cover. Yeah,
Harby's good. He's damn good. And it's great to see that.
You know, Paul Reid's doing histhing. He's got Nick Nurse out there

(24:48):
joined him. Oh, by theway, did you know Nick Nurse?
I learned this over the Thanksgiving holiday. One more six ers. No,
I'm sure we'll hit the spread alittle bit. Later, but Nick Nurse
is still the leading three point percentageshooter in Northern was it? Did he
go to Northern Iowa? Was thatwhere he went? Yes? Yes,

(25:08):
yeah, still leads that university, that program and three point shooting percentage for
a career. How about that? That's pretty wild. I think I started
like thirty nine point three or somethinglike that, stroking it. I will
say for anyone out there, ifyou're looking for a book to read or
a book to gift to a Sixersfan, this this this Christmas the Nick

(25:29):
Nurse book. I think it's calledRapture about his time, and I think
he wrote it last year. Reallygood book, and I feel like it
was one of those times I readit right before the season and you really
do realize, like this guy hasgrinded so much more than the usual NBA
coach. Like you think about theNBA coaches around the league. It's like
Chauncey Billups finished his career, wentto ESPN to do a cushy, a

(25:52):
cushy studio job for a year ortwo, and then he got a job
and you look at you know,Doc Rivers. Doc Rivers has just coached
in the NBA at a high levelfor thirty years without any breaks, and
like, I think the fact thatNick Nurse coached in all these different countries,
I'll give it right here. Sohe started with the Raptors as an
assistant from twenty thirteen to twenty eighteen. He was the head coach from twenty

(26:15):
eighteen to twenty three. Before that, he was with the He was with
the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Ithink that's the G League. Yeah,
the Iowa Energy two thousand and five. He was an assistant with the Oklahoma
Storm two thousand and one to twentytwo thousand and sixties, with the Brighton
Bears, London Towers, Manchester Giants. Now we're in the nineties, the

(26:37):
Birmingham Bullets. He's in South DakotaGrandview. Early nineteen eighty nine, he
was Northern Iowa as an assistant. That's where he got to start. I
mean, he's been doing it forever, forever. It's just I trust that
guy to figure things out because he'sdone it in so many different situations.
And the book really highlights like howmany weird situations Guy's been in where it's

(27:00):
like you're playing on a on ateam. The London Towers, I think
he had some team where they likecut three of his starters, like the
day before a playoff game or somethingfor some incident, and he went out
and won a game or something like. He had all these crazy stories in
there, and you just think abouthow many different experiences this guys went through,
and then it's like, yeah, you know, maybe coaching an NBA

(27:21):
team's not that hard, Like hejust has a different background and so much
more to pull upon experience wise. That isn't just oh, I coach these
NBA players and I don't know.I'm I'm all in right now on the
Sixers in a dangerous way. ThatThunder win this weekend was was exciting.
I think the Thunder, by theway, or like a real Thunder,

(27:41):
a real life contender, so usbeating them, I think that. I
think before that game, I don'tknow if it's still is the fact I
think they had the number one netin the NBA at that point, the
Oklahoma City Thunder. So I dothink that that was a real win.
And tonight, if you can geta win, I don't care how good
the Lakers have been or haven't.I think they're ten and seven, But
if you can get a win overLebron and a d if they're both out

(28:03):
there, that's another win that isgoing to convince me to care even more
about this team. And you knowit's so funny. I mean, I've
checked out after they lost in thein season torn I'm out. I just
I was so ready to be outon this team. And Nick Nurse adds
such a level of trust for meto this team, and obviously MAXI being

(28:26):
what looks like just a top fifteenplayer in the world. I don't know
why I said that they're in LA. They're not. It's a home game.
I'm an idiot, Ye, takeall I should I didn't even hear
you say that. I should correct. Your tickets are like one hundred bucks
to go down there? Really?Yeah, it's always that way with the
Lakers. Yeah. No, everybodycomes out, all the yellow jerseys and
cowboy hats. Oh Kobe jerseys exactly? All right? Uh speaking to Kobe.
I saw episode an episode of southPark from season eight last night.

(28:52):
Wow, that was a throwback, let's just put it that way. They
were rolling out Thanksgiving or something Thanksgivingor something like that on Comedy Central.
And I'll stop by south Park everyonce in a while, and it was
a throwback and I'm like, WHOA, wow, that was that was definitely
one from back in those days.Let's just put it that way. Two
thousand and three, I guess, but yeah, yeah about it. I

(29:18):
am reading this another book. Notehere, we got any book people,
if we got any book readers,I'm reading I think it's called Three Ring
Circus right now by Jeff Pearlman aboutthe Kobe shack Lakers, and it is
one of the best books I've readin a long time. Actually, very
very interesting. And I will justsay it's not something that's nice to say
since obviously, you know, restin peace, Kobe Bryant. That book

(29:41):
does not paint Kobe in the mostgenerous light. No, it is.
Yeah, I don't think. Look, once he passed, I think a
lot of people, did, youknow, want to shine a little bit
brighter a light and you know, make them out to be a little bit
And oh, by the way, after his career was over, he definitely

(30:02):
felt it definitely felt like he waschanging right where he was trying to do
more, be involved, more, created the mom backadomy yea, and just
was like a little bit more gentleof a soul. Let's just put it
that way, not out there toabsolutely kill you and think that he runs
the world as a player. Yeah, look, there was never a doubt
in my mind that with the wholeShaq and Kobe beef, it wasn't based

(30:22):
off of Kobe. Like I'm notsitting here saying Shaq was innocent ten out
of ten times. But for me, it always started in with Kobe and
he got his way. He wasthe guy that stayed, you know,
he was the dude that ran it. Now, I'm sure you're not going
to you know, ruin this ruinthe book for anybody, but is that
what your takeaway was? That itwas more Kobe than anything. It's that

(30:45):
it was kind of like Kobe versusthe team, like more than just Kobe
versus Shack, Like it felt likethe whole team was kind of on Shack
side where And it also started muchearlier than I thought. Like you think
about the Kobe Shacks stuff and youthink about, oh the end, like
the Detroit Pistons, Yeah, itmust have been that year, and they
want it was the whole time theywere winning, Like the entire run that

(31:06):
they were together, they were gettingtogether in the all season. They got
in a flight in an LA fitnesslike in like nineteen ninety nine or something
like. Yeah, a lot ofa lot of crazy stories in there,
though, really really good book, excellent stuff. Mark Henvery Junior, he's
hanging out with us all show. We'll hand things out at six o'clock to
the All Pro Green Legions Show.Other side, let's talk a little bit
more from the NFL card plus weekthirteen look aheadlines. We have to talk

(31:27):
some college football. We are oneweek away from championship Saturday, all right,
We're gonna find out everything that weneed to know from there. Will
the selection committee get it right though, that's the question. Are there tough
decisions for them? Will there betough decisions? We're gonna find out,
of course, But let's go aheadand create that chaos picture. As a

(31:47):
matter of fact, we were tradingtweets on Thanksgiving Eve because that scenario was
really intriguing to me. And Ijust feel like a team that is undefeated,
you cannot allow them to play fora national championship. You just can't.
We'll find out. Mark Henry Junioragrees with me on the other side
on that one. I'm of coursespeaking about Florida State. This is the

(32:10):
Daily Taker. Got till six o'clock. Don't go anywhere more after this
