Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, everybody.
Welcome to the Dona Watson Show.
I'm your host, Dona Watson.
I'm just an average AmericanPatriot who loves God, her
family, her country.
I try really hard to listen toGod's voice.
And sometimes I write stuff.
Come with me together.
Let's explore this crazyexperience.

(00:24):
We call life.
Welcome to the show.

(00:32):
Hello everybody.
Welcome to Episode 29, Makingthe Impossible Possible.
It's been a while since I'vebeen able to record a podcast
episode and I'm so happy to beback with you guys.
I have recently moved into alittle house nestled in the

(00:54):
wooded hills of MiddleTennessee, and it's been a
welcome change from thetemperate weather in Southern
California.
And we moved in just in time tosee the last of the fall leaves
drop, and then the beauty ofwinter snow as it drifted
peacefully down and drapedeverything outside in lacey

(01:14):
white.
Simply gorgeous.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
My two dogs have also enjoyed exploring the woods, the
pastures and the seasonal creekthat runs behind the house.
One morning, just at dawn, Ihooked them up to their leashes,
we stepped out the back door fortheir morning constitutional and
to everyone's surprise, wechanced upon two to three

(01:43):
whitetail deer who were drinkingwater in the creek.
And the dogs, of course, theyran to the ends of their
leashes, barking at these bigfurry"intruders." And I just had
time to see the flags of theirwhite tails as they bounded
away.
But here's the surprising part.

(02:06):
I would've expected those deerto run away downstream.
It's fairly level and they'dprobably make good time, but
that's not what they did.
Instead, the deers' flight pathtook them straight up the hill.
Now mind you, the last surveyorwho, um, did this property, he

(02:34):
wrote that this wooded hill hasa 60 to 80% hill.
I wouldn't have thought that ananimal that big could climb that
steep hillside so quickly and itwasn't easy, but the deer knew
that their greatest area ofsafety lay in climbing the

(02:57):
steepest hill available to them.
And within seconds they weregone.
It was really amazing.
While this incident happenedseveral weeks ago, it came back
to my mind this morning, as Iwas reading Psalm 18.
This Psalm was written by Davidas he recalled how God had saved

(03:18):
him from his enemies.
David had been running for hislife, barely escaping certain
death time and again.
But instead of saying,"Oh God,why did you let this happen to
me?", he opens this Psalm byexpressing his love for God.

(03:38):
The six verses read:"I love you,Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortressand my deliverer, my God, my
rock where I seek refuge, myshield and the horn of my
salvation, my stronghold.
I called to the Lord, who isworthy of praise, and I was

(04:01):
saved from my enemies.
The ropes of death were wrappedaround me; the torrents of
destruction terrified me.
The ropes of Sheol entangled me;the snares of death confronted
me.
I called to the Lord in mydistress, I cried to my God for
help.

(04:22):
From his temple he heard myvoice, and my cry to him reached
his ears." I love the imagery ofthis entire psalm.
It goes on to talk about how"thefoundations of the mountains
trembled when God burned withanger." Verse nine says that"he

(04:44):
bent the heavens and came down, total darkness beneath his
feet." What a picture.

(04:52):
If we go down to verses 16 to 19, it reads,"He reached down
from on high and took hold ofme; he pulled me out of deep
water.
He rescued me from my powerfulenemy and from those who hated
me, for they were too strong forme.

(05:13):
They confronted me in the day ofmy calamity, but the Lord was my
support.
He brought me out to a spaciousplace; he rescued me because he
delighted in me." Down in verse25....
You guys have to read this wholething for yourself.
I really encourage you to dothat, but let's skip down.

(05:37):
Verse 25 says:"With the faithfulyou prove yourself faithful,
with the blameless, you proveyourself blameless, with the
pure you prove yourself pure;but with the crooked you prove
yourself shrewd.
For you rescue an oppressedpeople, but you humble those
with haughty eyes.

(06:01):
Lord, you light my lamp; my Godilluminates my darkness.
With you I can attack abarricade, and with my God I can
leap over a wall.
God—his way is perfect; the wordof the Lord is pure.
He is a shield to all who takerefuge in him.

(06:22):
For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is a rock?
Only our God.
God—he clothes me with strengthand makes my way perfect.
He makes my feet like the feetof a deer and sets me securely
on the heights.
He trains my hands for war; myarms can bend a bow of bronze.

(06:43):
You have given me the shield ofyour salvation; your right hand
upholds me, and your humilityexalts me.
You make a spacious placebeneath me for my steps, and my
ankles do not give way." Did youcatch that part about the deer?

(07:03):
"He makes my feet like the feetof a deer and sets me securely
on the heights."

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Hmm.
You might be facing a situationtoday that seems impossible.
And like the deer in mybackyard, you were out enjoying
a beautiful morning with arefreshing drink of clear water
only to be broadsided.
The peacefulness of your morningshattered by the enemy who came

(07:33):
charging at you barking like acrazy one.
Sometimes when we're underattack like that, the safest
place we can run is straight upthe mountainside.
And"How can that even bepossible?" you might ask.
You might take one look at thatmountain in front of you and
wanna give up, but I wannaencourage you to not give up.

(07:58):
My Bible says that my God canmake my feet like the feet of a
deer.
My God can set me securely onthe heights.
Was it easy for that deer toscale that mountain?
No, they tripped.
They slipped.
They stumbled.

(08:18):
But they didn't give up.
God gave them exactly theequipment they needed to scale
what appeared to be anunscalable mountain.
And God can do the same for you.
He can make the impossiblepossible.
Trust him, my friends.
He sees you.

(08:38):
And he knows exactly what youneed to overcome that mountain
that stands in front of you.
Don't give up, God's got yourback and with his help, you can
do it.
