Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello everybody.
Welcome to the Dona WatsonShow. I'm your host Dona
Watson. I'm just an averageAmerican patriot who loves God,
her family, her country. I tryreally hard to listen to God's
voice. Sometimes I write stuff.
Come with me. Together let'sexplore this crazy experience
(00:24):
we call life . Welcome to theshow.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Hello everybody. As
I'm recording this, it is
Monday morning and I hope thatyou are finding this week with
energy, ready to go and getwith it. But if you're not,
that's okay too. I have alittle word for you today. I've
(00:56):
been reading in Jeremiah, andJeremiah to me is a really
interesting character. He wasincredibly faithful to do
exactly what he was told.
Whenever the Lord told him todo something , according to the
(01:17):
book of Jeremiah, he went outand did it. And this is an
interesting example for ustoday because for Jeremiah, it
wasn't always fun and games. Hehad a lot of struggles. He had
a very unpopular message. Andwhen he would bring the word of
(01:41):
the Lord, he would be mocked,he would be whipped. He was put
in stocks at the Benjamin Gateof the Lord's temple and it was
a very difficult life for him.
But he didn't give up. And Ithink there's an example for us
(02:02):
today if we look at Jeremiah. Iwant to share with you from
Jeremiah chapter 20, verses 11through 13 . I'll pick up a
little bit before that. He wascomplaining to the Lord in this
20th chapter (I'm reading todayfrom the New Living version).
(02:30):
And he says, "Oh Lord, youmisled me....You are stronger
than I am, and you overpoweredme. Now I'm mocked every day;
everyone laughs at me." Do youever feel that way? You try to
share the truth, you try toshare the gospel and people
mock you and they laugh atyou...or worse.
(02:54):
Then people started calling
Jeremiah, "The Man Who Lives In
Terror" and they threaten, "Ifyou say anything, we will
report it." He says, "Even myold friends are watching me,
waiting for a fatal slip. 'Hewill trap himself,' they say,
'and then we will get ourrevenge on him.'' Oh, but
(03:15):
listen to verse 11. Jeremiahknew where his strength was. He
knew his identity. He knewwhere he was supposed to be.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
And he says, "But
the Lord stands beside me like
a great warrior. Before him mypersecutors will stumble. They
cannot defeat me. They willfail and be thoroughly
humiliated. Their dishonor willnever be forgotten. O LORD of
(03:48):
Heaven's Armies, you test thosewho are righteous, and you
examine the deepest thoughtsand secrets. Let me see your
vengeance against them, for Ihave committed my cause to you.
Sing to the LORD! Praise to theLORD! For though I was poor and
needy, he rescued me from myoppressors."
(04:13):
He went on to complain a
little bit more, to curse the
day that he was born. He wasn'thaving a good day, poor
Jeremiah. But look at this, guys. Even in the midst of
trial and tribulation andcomplaining—not one of his
(04:36):
better days—he still recognizedwhere his truth came from. He
recognized where his strengthcame from. "The Lord stands
beside me like a great warrior.
Before him, my persecutors willstumble." See, Jeremiah could
see the future. He knew whatwas gonna happen. He knew that
(05:02):
at the end, the Lord was gonnawin. And that's my word for you
today.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Know where your
strength is. Your strength is
in the Lord. The Lord is agreat warrior and he stands
beside every single one of hischildren. Not just Jeremiah,
but you and me. The Lord isgracious. He is compassionate
(05:34):
and quick to love, and heprotects his people. Doesn't
mean we won't have trials, butthat's why he's given us tools
to fight the spiritual battlesthat come our way. We'll
continue to talk more aboutthat as we go on, but I just
(05:55):
wanted to offer this quick wordfor you guys today and to tell
you all that I love you so muchand I'm praying for you, and I
hope you have a blessed, victorious day. Take care.
