Prophetess Felecia (00:26):
Hello
everybody, welcome to the
Effective Prayer StrategiesPodcast, where we are giving you
tools for an effective prayerlife.
I'm really excited abouttoday's podcast because we have
a special guest.
I guess that I have beenknowing for over 30 something
years and he's a mighty man ofGod.
(00:46):
He's an apostle who is apowerful man of God here in the
city of Memphis, tennessee, andI'm excited to have him here
just to talk about prayerstrategies, just to hear his
story about how he became abeliever and how prayer has
played an important part of hislife as becoming an apostle that
(01:08):
he is today.
So let's welcome to my podcastnone other than Apostle Tony
Wade, my husband of 31 years.
Welcome to the podcast.
Apostle Wade (01:17):
I am so honored to
be here and thank you for such
an amazing introduction.
I feel so honored to be hereamongst you as such an amazing
woman of God and being on yourpodcast.
I mean, you're doing an amazingjob teaching on prayer and I
love to hear you pray and I'mjust honored to be here today.
Prophetess Felecia (01:41):
Well, thank
you so very much.
You know my husband, apostleTony Wade.
He's a pastor at Divine LifeChurch in Memphis, tennessee,
and you know we can talk aboutthis.
You know, even from thebeginning of us becoming born
again over 30 years ago, prayerhas been an important part of
(02:03):
our personal lives.
Can you talk a little bit abouthow you develop the prayer life
when you became born again?
Because, I'll say this, as aresult of his life being
transformed by God, I came intothe body of Christ.
So let's talk about that.
Tell me about your experience, you know, getting born again and
(02:26):
how you develop the prayer life.
Apostle Wade (02:28):
Well, I mean when
I met the Lord.
I'm not going to give my wholetestimony, but I get to the part
.
When I met Jesus on February23rd 1992 at 8 o'clock PM at my
grandmother's living room table, when I asked Jesus to come in
my heart, I heard a voice saypray with her, which was my
(02:51):
cousin, Nell, who led me to theLord, and I could remember when
I prayed that prayer.
Now, mind you, I have agrandmother on my dad's side who
took me to church sometime.
I got baptized at eight yearsold, but this was different
because for the first time I hadan encounter with the Lord
himself.
(03:11):
I didn't see him, but I felthis presence.
I could remember the presenceof the Lord coming over me.
It felt like electricity, itfelt like an overwhelming
consuming love and I could feelhim moving, something around, it
lifted, and I could rememberlooking in the mirror and there
was a glow on my face and I'mlike that's not me.
(03:34):
And so I turned to my cousin.
I'm like this is not going togo anywhere, anywhere.
I said he'll never leave younor forsake you.
So what happened after that?
I got addicted to that presencethat I felt.
It was almost like someone thathad got addicted to any type of
drug.
They are chasing that originalhigh.
So I kept pursuing God, and soI would spend time in the bed
(04:01):
wanting God to touch me, becauseI experienced a tangible God.
I didn't experience a religiousGod.
I felt relationship.
See, most people get introducedto religion.
They get introduced to a Godthat's out there for somewhere.
No, I felt this God who waspersonal to me, who actually
(04:22):
heard me pray a simple prayer.
So the way I was introduced tohim caused me to go on a journey
to pursue that same God.
Come on.
So that's how my prayer journeystarted.
Prophetess Felecia (04:36):
So let's
talk about that, because a lot
of people are born into religion.
You know what I mean.
Apostle Wade (04:42):
Yes.
Prophetess Felecia (04:42):
They come by
way of religion and they may
have a truly experiencedexistence where they accepted
Christ as their personal Lordand Savior, but then it stops
right there.
So the encounter that you hadon the day that you got saved,
in fact, next week will be 32years, next Friday Next Friday
(05:04):
will be your-.
Apostle Wade (05:05):
The 23rd Birthday,
32 years in the Lord.
Prophetess Felecia (05:10):
So on that
day, 31 years ago, almost 32
years ago, you said that you hadan encounter with God.
Yes, you said that perked yourinterests to feel what you felt.
Apostle Wade (05:23):
Yes.
Prophetess Felecia (05:24):
The day you
got saved, so that you started
pursuing Him.
Apostle Wade (05:28):
Yeah.
Prophetess Felecia (05:29):
So talk
about, not you know, people who
have just experienced a prayer Iaccepted Jesus Christ as my
personal Lord and Savior and howis it that they can take that
to the next level to actuallyencounter a living God and talk
to them about God wanting totouch Him, touch His people, for
(05:51):
them to have an encounter withHis presence, and then?
So a lot of people don'tunderstand to know what it is to
have an encounter with God andthat God's presence wants to
encounter them.
Apostle Wade (06:02):
Yeah.
So for those people in thatposition that you didn't have an
experience with God the way Idid, but yet you're saved, but
you had an experience andencounter.
You now need to pursue that.
I need this God that I nowserve, that I have received, to
become personal and real to me,and so every experience is going
(06:27):
to be different, but therelationship can be the same.
Yes, because just as he's myFather, he's your Father too,
and so, with that being said, you need to seek and pursue Him,
not only in prayer, which iscommunicating with God, and God
communicating with you, but alsoin pursuit of His Word.
(06:49):
Yes, because God don't justspeak only through His Rima Word
, where he speaks a specificthing to your spirit or to your
mind, what he's wanting to say,but he also speaks through His
Word, where he's illuminating orbringing to light what he's
(07:10):
saying to you through His Word.
So I begin to do that, and thatis what they can do is begin to
seek God, pursue Him with theirwhole heart, and as they seek
Him, the Bible say you will findHim that's right With your
whole heart.
So what happens?
A lot of times, people, they useprayer like it's an obligation
(07:32):
or a duty.
Come on, talk about that.
Okay, talk about that.
I want to talk about that fromthis perspective.
You're my wife, so if I onlyfellowship with you out of
obligation and duty, how wouldthat make you feel?
Prophetess Felecia (07:47):
That would
just make me feel like you're
not pursuing me because you wantto.
Apostle Wade (07:52):
It's a duty it's I
got to do this, you my wife's.
I gotta spend time with you, you, my wife.
Prophetess Felecia (07:59):
So today I
gotta spend time with you, and
I'll be like well, don't do meno favors.
Apostle Wade (08:02):
Well, don't do me
no favors, don't spend no time
with me, right, because it's notbecause I want to.
So that's gonna make you say, well, if you don't want to be
with me, don't be with me.
Exactly, well, that's the samething how some people come to
God.
Instead of them wanting to bewith God and wanting to know Him
and get to know Him more, it'sout of.
(08:26):
If I don't pray, god is gonnabe mad.
Well, you already started outon the wrong foot, right?
Our pursuit of Him is out ofour love affair with Him.
Come on.
But the only way you have a loveaffair with Him, you gotta
begin to spend time with Him andget to know Him.
You didn't develop a friendshipwith anyone in a day.
(08:47):
You all may have had a greattime together, but the more you
all begin to exchange, therelationship went deeper, and so
that is what they're gonna haveto do.
They're gonna have to one, begin to get to know God, begin
to let Him reveal and makeHimself known to them that they
don't have a religious God, buta real God.
(09:08):
And so they gotta want to bewith Him and not like what they
say, I'm supposed to pray anhour a day where you now trying
to base your relationship onsomebody else's relationship.
So I can't base my relationshipwith you based on somebody
else's relationship with theirwife.
That's right.
No, I'm dealing with youAbsolutely and you're dealing
(09:29):
with me, and so, through us, mewanting to be around you because
I want to you now reciprocatethat back to me Absolutely.
And that's the same way withsomeone in prayer that they
getting to know God from wherethey are.
Prophetess Felecia (09:45):
From where
they are.
From where they are.
So let's talk.
I want to talk to my audience, those who, have you know, are
listening to this podcast andthey're a fresh new believer.
And they're inquisitive aboutwhat you mean when you say spend
time with God or pursue God.
I know for me when I first gotborn again that was kind of
(10:08):
foreign, but I watched you inyour personal time and how you
would go in the closet or go inthe room and close up and have
your worship music on or yourworship unto the Lord from your
own mouth.
So talk about and help theyoung believer who's trans or
(10:30):
that believer who'stransitioning from religion to
actually pursuing a personalprayer life with God.
Apostle Wade (10:37):
Yeah Well, see, I
think first we got to look at
this.
A lot of people try to put Godin a box.
So when they say spend timewith God or relationship with
God, they try to make it lookone way.
But what has to happen is thereare those times that you got to
get away from everything.
(10:57):
So you in a quiet space withyou and God, but really, your
relationship with God, youshould invite Him into your
whole life.
So if I'm going to play golf, Iinvite God to play golf with me,
and I've shared testimonieswhere I'm out playing golf and
I'm frustrated with my game andthe Holy Spirit says to me if
(11:20):
you're gonna keep acting likethis, I'll come back when you
done.
In other words, I'm grievingHim because I am active.
Why?
Why is he saying that to me?
Because I invited Him to be apart of every phase of my life.
So I don't just have, I don'tcompartmentalize God that this
(11:40):
is my God life, this is myfamily life, this is that.
No, you're my wife, regardlessof what's going on.
You could call me anytime ofthe day.
I don't say, well, I only seeyou when I'm at home and I'm off
work or I'm here, no.
So we gotta first understandwhat is that relationship with
God has to look like.
(12:01):
It can't just look like in oneplace, come on.
It has to be a part of ourdaily lives, because God may
interrupt you while you out atthe grocery store and you said
something wrong, you didsomething wrong, and because you
all are in relationship andyou're aware of Him and you
(12:22):
spend time with Him.
You sensitive when he just toldyou go, take that back or don't
say this, or don't do this.
Prophetess Felecia (12:30):
Yeah, that's
the point.
Apostle Wade (12:31):
What I'm saying is
the relationship of prayer is
not just in the prayer closet, even though it's good to have a
prayer closet.
Prophetess Felecia (12:40):
Absolutely
so.
We're not to compartmentalize.
Apostle Wade (12:43):
God.
Prophetess Felecia (12:44):
But we're to
bring Him and His fellowship
into every compartment of ourlives.
However, we're not to neglectour personal, intimate time with
Him, he and I, but, on theother side of that, we're not to
neglect Him when we're in ourbusy part.
So you don't leave Him in theprayer closet.
We don't leave Him in theprayer closet.
That is so good.
(13:05):
We take Him to the grocerystore, we take Him to work.
Apostle Wade (13:07):
We take Him to
work we fellowship on the way to
work.
We bring Him in our marriage.
We bring Him into how we dealwith our children.
We bring Him into our finances.
We bring Him in our friendships.
We bring Him into decisionswhen culture is saying this is
okay, that is not okay.
When I make a decision, I'mmaking a decision out of my
(13:27):
relationship with God, which isan overflow of my prayer life,
of my time with Him, that I'maware of you, that I am aware
that you are with me.
I'm aware that my body is yourtemple and you live in me.
So if you live in me, thatmeans you with me everywhere.
(13:48):
I go and we're all time, all thetime, come on, so you not just
not to stop, you didn't juststop being with me.
That means, if I'm into things, that I shouldn't be into you,
right there with me, and youheard it, you felt it and that's
what it grieving, that you feelin your spirit that some of us
have lost.
Prophetess Felecia (14:06):
Come on.
So let's talk about thatbecause I think that's important
for our believers who don'tunderstand that Holy Spirit is
there, god is there on theinside of us and he will correct
us.
But we've got to develop an ear.
We've got to develop andcultivate an ear to hear Holy
(14:28):
Spirit and the Spirit of theLord when he speaks to us.
So we do a teaching a lot abouthow to hear God.
How do you know when God isspeaking to you?
Yes, a lot of times it comeswith you just sitting in your
prayer time, getting quiet anddeveloping that ear to hear from
God.
But God speak to us in manydifferent ways as we cultivate
(14:48):
that relationship with Him.
So talk about how we can hearGod and tell our audience the
different ways God will speak tous.
Apostle Wade (14:56):
Well, God speaks
to us because he's talking to
you or he's talking to me.
So each of us hear Goddifferent.
So when I say I hear God, I'mnot talking about.
I hear Him with my ears.
I hear Him with my spiritualears.
See, I'm not talking about anaudible voice.
Just like you hear my voice, sofor me the primary way that God
(15:19):
speaks to me is through aknowing.
It's like someone just put thisin my spirit and I know this is
what I'm supposed to do so.
Prophetess Felecia (15:29):
It's like an
impression, it's an impression,
press the button.
Apostle Wade (15:32):
I didn't hear a
hate voice.
I know this is what he's sayingto me.
Sometimes he also showed mepictures, but not with my
natural eyes, with my spiritualeyes.
So there are images that I seein my spirit.
So he's communicating throughimages.
(15:53):
Through those pictures, somepeople hear a steel, small voice
.
It's not an audible voice likeyou hear in mind.
It's a small voice that youhear inside Some of them.
It's thoughts that come to youand if you're not careful,
you'll think those thoughts areyours.
But the way you differentiateis number one.
(16:16):
I wasn't even thinking aboutthat.
So, number one.
And then to be able to judgewhether it's God or not, because
you got to test every spirit tosee whether it's God, you got
to know whether it's consistentwith his character and nature.
So you can't say I heard Godtell me this, told me that some
man come to you and say the Lordtold me you my wife.
(16:39):
Well, he didn't hear from God,because you are already married
to me, I'm not dead, so we knowthat it's not God, because it
goes against his word, and notjust using extreme example, but
so a lot of people.
You got to first get to knowGod, but you can't know him
apart from his word.
So you get to know hischaracter, you get to know his
(17:01):
nature.
So if someone go and tell yousomething about me and you know
that's not like me, you're likeno, you must get the wrong Tony
way, because that's not evenconsistent with how he operate.
So either you misunderstood orthis than the other.
So that is how you develop withGod.
So when you hearing voices, oryou getting images, or you
(17:24):
getting impressions, or youhearing still small voices, or
these downloads of thesedifferent thoughts coming to you
, that's how you discern whetherit's God or it's not.
Prophetess Felecia (17:37):
So,
ultimately, you're going to have
to really discern how God talksto you, because the way he
talks to me is different thanthe way he'll talk to you.
Apostle Wade (17:48):
Exactly right.
How does he talk to you, to you?
Prophetess Felecia (17:51):
So the way
God talks to me, I hear him, I
hear the voice of God.
And then some people are just.
They have visions, some peoplehave dreams, some people have
developed the impression likeyou saw my left- brain, some
right brain, some people feel, feel things.
Apostle Wade (18:13):
So it depends on.
That's why, when, when youbegin to spend time with God, he
began to communicate with you,pay attention to how he
primarily communicated with you.
Then we never got into thevisions and the dreams.
So sometimes God speak topeople in dreams See, I'm not
(18:35):
really a dreamer, but when Godspeak to me in a dream it's very
accurate, it's a word ofknowledge.
It's a word of knowledge andit's very detailed, that like
he's taking me in visions tomeeting where people having
meetings about me and showing meon the details about it.
So and then see, another thingfor me.
(18:58):
I don't always go around sayingGod talking to me all the time,
because he don't have to talk tome all the time, because I have
his word and so already he'salready shown me things that he
need me to do or or differentthings like that, or situations
and circumstances happen andhe'll begin to talk to me.
Like I don't understand howpeople can mistreat someone and
(19:23):
you know you mistreated them andthere's no conviction.
Okay, see, I can't sleep if I'mout of order with people toward
God, in the sight of God,because he's going to deal with
me and I'm going to get it right, because what did he say the
day you hear my voice harden, not your heart.
And so we can't harden ourheart when God speaks.
(19:45):
That's how we lose thesensitivity of the voice of God.
And, once again, when we saythe voice of God, that's how he
speaks to you, because it may bethrough that impression, that
still small voice, it may bethrough those pictures and
images that you see inside ofyour spirit, or those
spontaneous words that come toyou.
Prophetess Felecia (20:07):
I love it
and I want to say this, and then
we'll do a recap of all thethings that we talked about so
that you can walk away from thispodcast with truly effective
tools to help you build yourprayer life.
But I want to say this also theLord speaks through dreams, as
you said, but I want to prefacethis, and you always teach at
(20:30):
church that we are never to beled necessarily by dreams, but
we are to be led by Holy Spirit.
So if you have a dream, andit's probably a word of
knowledge that you're always totake that to Holy Spirit and
allow Him to unpack it or bringfurther revelation.
Apostle Wade (20:50):
And your spiritual
needs.
Prophetess Felecia (20:51):
And bring
your spiritual leader as well,
before you make a rash decisionOff what you saw, off of just a
dream.
And also the Lord will speakthrough dreams.
I can remember years ago, backin 96, I was concerned my
husband was getting ready to goto California.
He was getting ready to gominister to one of his family
members who was dying of cancer.
Apostle Wade (21:12):
Who was?
Prophetess Felecia (21:12):
dying of
cancer and I was like eight
months pregnant with my youngestdaughter and planes at that
time in 96.
Apostle Wade (21:20):
They were crashing
.
Prophetess Felecia (21:21):
left and
right they were crashing left
and right there were an influxof plane crashes.
So I was really concerned aboutmy husband number one on this
plane going to California, number two him being gone and
the possibility of me having thebaby without him being there.
So I was a little worried.
So I went to sleep one nightand the Lord showed me, woke me
(21:42):
up out of a deep sleep.
He showed me at the post, thehead of his bed, a huge angel
with a sword drone and asstanding at attention to protect
him.
And then I turned around andthe same another angel looked
just like the other one, was atmy head of my bed and that was
(22:03):
God speaking to me, giving me aword of knowledge, that he is
giving his angels charge over usand that nothing would happen
to my husband for this trip, that he was on a divine
assignment.
And so God showed me that in avision, so that line up with his
word.
Apostle Wade (22:19):
It surely did.
Prophetess Felecia (22:20):
That was a
confirmation in his word that
Psalms 91.
Apostle Wade (22:25):
I give my inch
charge over you to keep you in
all your ways.
Prophetess Felecia (22:28):
Absolutely.
Apostle Wade (22:29):
Let you dash your
foot against the stone.
Prophetess Felecia (22:30):
Absolutely
so.
These dreams and visions shouldline up with the word of God.
Listen, the word of God is ourfoundation for everything.
Apostle Wade (22:40):
Ever A dream, a
voice, a prophecy, whatever it
got to be judged back to theword.
