another episode of the Elevate
Media podcast.
I'm Chris Anderson, your host.
I'm super excited to have youhere today, so thanks for tuning
in.
Today I want to take us on ajourney, diving into a topic
that is important to yourjourney as an entrepreneur, and
that is the power of mindset.
You see, in the world ofentrepreneurship, it's not just
(00:49):
about having a brilliant idea oraccess to resources.
It's about how you think, howyou approach challenges and how
you respond to setbacks.
So why is mindset so crucial?
Well, imagine yourentrepreneurial journey as a
ship navigating throughuncharted waters.
(01:09):
Your mindset is the compassthat guides you through storms
and helps you find your way tosuccess.
During this episode, we'regoing to explore three key
mindset shifts that cantransform the way you approach
entrepreneurship.
These shifts are like the toolsin your toolkit, ready to be
used to build your path tosuccess.
(01:32):
First, we're going to talk aboutthe concept of resilience.
Resilience isn't just aboutbouncing back from failure.
It's about bouncing forward.
It's that unwaveringdetermination to keep moving
forward, even when the seas getrough.
Then we're going to get intorisk taking.
In entrepreneurship, it's notabout avoiding risks, it's about
(01:54):
embracing them smartly.
We're going to uncover how tocalculate risks that can propel
your business to new heights.
And then, finally, we're goingto touch on the topic that often
terrifies so many failure.
But here's the secret Failureis not the end, it's just a
stepping stone to success.
We'll explore how shifting yourperspective on failure can lead
(02:17):
to great growth.
So get ready Today's journey isall about transforming your
mindset on your journey toentrepreneurial success.
We're going to unlock thatpotential, help you take
calculated leaps and turnsetbacks into stepping stones.
So the first thing we want totalk about is how resilience is
(02:38):
a foundation forentrepreneurship.
This is the first crucialmindset shift on our journey.
Resilience, it's not just abuzzword.
It's the bedrock upon whichsuccessful entrepreneurs build
their dreams.
So what exactly is resilienceand why is it so vital?
So resilience is the ability tobounce back and forward, to
(03:00):
keep going when the going getstough.
It's the unwaveringdetermination to face challenges
head on and emerge stronger onthe other side.
In my own journey, there weremoments when I felt like the
world was conspiring against me,but it was resilience that
carried me through.
It's what kept me going whenothers might have given up.
(03:20):
I have many moments like this, and I'm sure you do as well on
your journey.
But when I quit my job in 2020,I didn't have any income coming
in.
I completely just jumped shipto try to build a business.
We had some savings, but thatwas dwindling, and so I had to
have some resilience to getthrough those scary times, keep
(03:40):
moving forward and figure it outas I went.
That's just one of manyexamples I could share with you
on my journey, and I would loveto hear some of yours.
Let me know below, maybe amoment on your journey building
a business that you face and howto become more resilient.
But now we can get even morepractical.
How can you cultivate thisessential trait?
(04:00):
Well, here's some actual itemsto do just that.
First, you can set realisticexpectations.
Understand that theentrepreneurial path is filled
with ups and downs.
Setting achievable goals andacknowledging that setbacks are
a part of the process will helpyou stay resilient.
Second, seek support.
You don't have to be on island.
(04:22):
You don't have to go at italone.
So build a network of mentors, advisors and fellow
entrepreneurs who can provideguidance and support as shoulder
to lean on when times get tough.
And then, lastly, practiceself-care.
Your physical and mentalwell-being are the cornerstones
of resilience.
Make time for activities thatrejuvenate you, whether it's
(04:45):
exercise or meditation, orspending quality time with loved
ones.
Remember, resilience is not afixed trait.
It's a muscle that can bestrengthened over time.
The more you face challengeshead on, learn from them and
keep moving forward, the moreresilient you'll become.
So let's make resilience yoursecret weapon.
(05:06):
Embrace those challenges, riseabove adversity and keep
marching towards your goals.
Resilience is not just amindset shift.
It's a superpower that willhelp you conquer any obstacle in
your path.
The second mindset shift I wantto talk about is embracing risk
taking.
This one separates thetrailblazers from the hesitant.
(05:29):
In the world ofentrepreneurship, risk isn't
something to be feared.
It's something to be embracedand harnessed.
But why is this shift sosignificant?
Well, to put it simply, calculated risks often lead to
great rewards.
Just think about some of themost successful entrepreneurs
you admire.
They didn't play it safe.
(05:50):
They boldly stepped out oftheir comfort zones and it paid
off big time.
Take, for example you'veprobably heard the story of JK
Rowling how she tried time andtime again to get her books out
there and was denied multipletimes until finally it took off.
She saw an opportunity, shetook a calculated risk and now
she's reaping the rewards.
(06:10):
It's the stories like that thatremind us that risk taking can
be a game changer in yourentrepreneurial journey.
So how can you embrace andmanage risks effectively?
First, do your homework Beforemaking any major decisions.
Conduct thorough research andgather as much information as
possible.
Knowledge is your best allywhen it comes to managing risks.
(06:33):
However, don't let the act ofresearch stop you from taking
acts of progression.
Let me repeat that Don't letthe act of research stop you
from taking acts of progression.
Next, you've got to planmeticulously, create a well
thought out strategy thatoutlines the potential risks and
(06:53):
how you'll mitigate them.
Having a solid plan in placecan give you the confidence to
move forward.
And lastly, don't let fearparalyze.
You Understand that not everyrisk will pan out, but that
doesn't mean failure.
Learn from those outcomes, adapt and keep taking calculated
leaps.
(07:14):
Embracing risk taking isn'tabout being reckless.
It's about being strategic andbold.
It's about recognizing that thepath to success is paved with
calculated risks that can leadto incredible rewards.
So dare to dream big.
Embrace the calculated risksand remember that the greatest
opportunities often lie justoutside your comfort zone.
(07:35):
Success favors the brave, andyou have what it takes to make
those bold moves.
And the third point I want tohit on is failure is not final.
Failure is a learningopportunity.
This shift in your mindset is agame changer, and it's all
about reframing how you seethose moments that don't go as
planned on your path to buildinga successful business.
(07:58):
Now, let's be clear Failure isnot a dead end.
It's a detour that can lead youto unexpected and valuable
destinations, some that youwouldn't even expect.
So why should you embrace thismindset shift?
Well, because failure, believeit or not, is a powerful teacher
.
Think about it.
Every setback, every missedtarget, they all carry valuable
(08:21):
lessons and insights.
It's like a treasure trove ofwisdom waiting to be discovered,
and it's up to you, as anentrepreneur, to dig deep and
uncover those gems.
So how can you turn failure intoa launching off point for
success?
First, you can start byjournaling, reading your
experiences, getting it down onpaper, both successes and
(08:42):
failures.
Write down what went wrong, what you learned and how you can
apply those lessons movingforward.
Your journal becomes a sourceof wisdom you can refer to on
your journey.
Think of Meditations by MarcusRilius.
Next, analyze feedback.
Seek feedback from mentors, peers and customers.
(09:04):
Embrace the constructivecriticism, as it often reveals
blind spots in areas forimprovement.
And lastly, set new goals aftersetbacks.
Instead of dwelling on whatdidn't work, focus on what's
next.
Set fresh, achievable goalsbased on the lessons you've
learned.
Remember, it's not the fall thatdefines you.
(09:26):
It's how you rise from it.
Failure is not a badge of shame.
It's a badge of courage andresilience.
By reframing your perspectiveon failure, you'll uncover the
hidden potential within everysetback.
Let's celebrate those failuresbecause they can lead to
greatness.
Embrace them, learn from themand let them fuel your journey
(09:47):
to success.
With this mindset shift, thereare no limits to what you can
achieve.
So, to recap, we've exploredthree fundamental mindset shifts
Resilience, risk taking andembracing failure.
These are not just randomconcepts, but powerful tools
that can shape yourentrepreneurial destiny.
Resilience is the unwaveringdetermination to keep moving
(10:10):
forward in the face of adversity.
It's your secret weapon againstany challenge.
Risk taking, when calculatedand strategic, can open doors to
opportunities you never thoughtpossible.
Remember, the greatest rewardsoften await those who dare to
take the leap of faith.
And embracing failure, takingit as a step to the next level
(10:31):
rather than a roadblock, that'sthe mindset that can turn
setbacks into your greatestvictories.
Start incorporating theseshifts into your daily lives and
business endeavors.
Embrace resilience when thegoing gets tough.
Take those calculated risks andsee failure as the invaluable
teacher it truly is.
(10:51):

as you conquer new horizons.
The world is waiting for yourgreatness.
