Speaker 2 (00:28):
Hello, welcome back
to the Elevate Media Podcast.
I'm Chris Anderson, your host.
So the other day my mom textedme and she asked me to go to
this cemetery.
She wanted me to check theirheadstones.
So they recently purchased andhad everything set up.
Their headstones had gottendone a lot sooner, so their
names and the birth dates gotput on there a lot sooner than
(00:48):
they thought.
So she asked me if I could runout there because I live closer
to check on the headstones andsee if they're in the right
place and see if everythinglooked good.
So I went, checked on them.
Everything looked good.
And got me thinking, though.
They put two sets of dates onheadstones usually right, your
birthday and your death date butthat dash between the dates
(01:10):
really stood out.
To me, the dash is really thepart that matters most, but it's
easy to get caught up in theroutine of life, to focus on our
daily tasks and to sometimesforget the bigger picture.
The truth is, life isincredibly short and it's what
we do with that dash in betweenour births and death dates that
(01:32):
truly matters.
Think about it for a moment.
When we're born, we're given aclean slate, a blank canvas to
paint our life stories.
Our birth date represents thebeginning of a journey and our
death date.
That's inevitable for all of us.
It's what we do with the timein between that defines our
legacy.
What can we do to make thatdash count?
How can we ensure that ourlives have meaning and purpose?
(01:54):
Here's some things I got tothinking while I was out there.
What goals do we have?
What goals have we set in life?
To truly make the most of ourtime, it's essential to set
meaningful goals.
These goals should define whatyou want to achieve in life,
whether it's in your personallife or in your business
endeavors.
Having clear and well-definedgoals provides a roadmap giving
you direction and purpose toyour journey.
(02:16):
Your goals are like the guidingstars that illuminate your path
and motivate you to pushforward.
But you also want to make apositive impact right.
We've got to consider how theprofound impact our actions have
and our decisions have, and howthose affect others.
So we need to take moments toreflect on that.
If whether we can make apositive difference in the lives
(02:36):
of our family and community, oreven the world at large, it's
often in these moments of impactthat we find the deepest
meaning and fulfillment.
We need to strive to leave alegacy of positivity and
kindness, because it ripples outand that good will can create a
lasting legacy far beyond ouryears.
Here we also need to embracelife's challenges.
(02:58):
It's an intricate design inthis world we live in, this life
we have, and it has, ups anddowns, and these challenges are
an inevitable part of ourjourney and they play a crucial
role in shaping our stories.
So if we can embrace thesechallenges as opportunities for
growth and transformation, thenwe can gain so much more.
There are chapters that adddepth and richness to this
(03:20):
narrative, this story, thisjourney we're building, and it
makes it unique and inspiring.
Rather than shying away fromadversity, we need to use it as
a stepping stone towardsbecoming the best version of
ourselves, and we should alwaysbe learning.
One of the keys to making yourdash meaningful is to commit to
never stop learning along theway.
Lifelong learning allows you tokeep growing, evolving and
(03:44):
expanding your horizons.
The more knowledge and wisdomyou acquire, the greater your
capacity to contribute to theworld around you gets.
So if you keep seekingknowledge, not only for your
personal development but also tobenefit others, this is going
to help you enrich your dash.
It's going to enrich yourlegacy.
It's going to give you morewisdom and insight that can
(04:05):
positively influence futuregenerations.
To sum it up, that dash theline between our birth and death
dates on our headstones.
That represents the canvas ofwhich we paint the masterpiece
of our lives.
By setting meaningful goals, making a positive impact,
embracing challenges andcommitting to lifelong learning,
you can ensure that your dashis filled with purpose, growth
(04:28):
and lasting significance.
It's easy to get lost in theday-to-day grind, but it's
crucial to remember that ourtime on earth is limited.
We have the power to shape ourlegacy, to leave a mark that
will be remembered long afterwe're gone.
So, as you go about your day,as you work on your business,
remember the dash is whatmatters.
What will your dash representwhen it's all said and done?
(04:50):
That's the question we shouldbe asking ourselves.
I hope this episode made youthink a little bit.
Maybe take something from it.
Share this with someone who canimpact.
But again, thanks for tuning inand remember it's not about the
dates themselves, but what youmake of the dash in between.
So, until next time, keepelevating your life, elevating
your brand, and we'll talk toyou soon.
