Speaker 1 (00:00):
2025 is going to be
the year of the physician.
If it's going to be for you,it's dependent on if you choose
to evolve or not, which meansI'm going to invest in myself,
I'm going to think differently.
I'm going to act differently.
If we refuse to act differently, refuse to think differently,
refuse to invest in ourselves,it's just going to be same old,
same old and, truthfully, it'sprobably going to be worse.
Look at the signs and signs.
Look at the handwriting on thewall.
(00:20):
It's probably going to be worse.
Hi docs, welcome to the EntreMDpodcast, where it's all about
helping amazing physicians justlike you embrace
entrepreneurship so you can havethe freedom to live life and
practice medicine on your terms.
I'm your host, dr Una.
Hello, hello, my friends, welcome back to another episode
(00:46):
of the Entremd podcast.
This is going to be an actualfun episode, because we're going
to talk about something thatI've been talking about for the
last almost four years at thispoint, and that is that 2025,
which is the year in where, atthe time of this recording, is
the year of the physician, andso for you listening, this is
your year, and I really want toinvite you to listen to this
(01:07):
with an open mind, to lean allthe way in, to kind of imagine
the things I'm going to talkabout as being your reality,
because that's what this year isall about, right?
And so 2025 is your year, isthe year of the physician, is
the year when the narrativechanges completely for
physicians everywhere.
This is going to be a year thatwill go down in history.
It is a year we'll reference, remember back in the day before
(01:31):
2025, we're going to havestatements like that, and some
people are going to experienceit, they're going to live it,
it's going to be their reality.
They're going to experiencethis alternate reality, and
there are many people who willnot.
And the people who will not arepeople who will be cynical,
people who believe it's not forthem.
People think we're just blowinghot air.
People who are like, oh, thesystem is too far gone and we're
(01:52):
stuck and nothing can be doneabout it.
And I really want to challengeyou, if you've been like that at
all.
I want to challenge you to golike okay, today's a brand new
day, I have a brand new cleanslate, and I want to kind of
imagine that this could be myreality and work towards it.
Because what's the alternative?
The alternative is we staystuck, we don't have any
autonomy, we're burned out,we're replaced by every other
(02:14):
type of clinician there is outthere.
We don't have financial freedom, and it's just bad.
We can choose.
Even if you feel like I amstuck right now, we can choose
that.
No, I'm not going down likethat.
Or we run businesses that arebad businesses.
We can't build teams and wecan't have businesses that help
(02:35):
a lot of people and makemillions of dollars and all of
that, and I just want to inviteyou to steer away.
I want to paint a picture of analternate reality and I want to
invite you to embrace it Now.
This alternate reality is notsomething that is a pie in the
sky, something that's neverhappened.
It's something that is myreality now.
It is something that is areality for so many physicians
(02:57):
that I've worked with so manyphysicians in the EntreeMD
Business School.
So we have proof of concept, and the EntreeMD Business School
has been around for four and ahalf years.
I have been an entrepreneur for14 years, and so we have proof
of concept.
We have proof of concept overtime and now that we have proof
of concept, I'm opening up tothe entire physician community,
like, okay, this is what canhappen.
(03:17):
This is what can happen and Iwant you to invite you to say
yes to it.
Okay, so, the year of thephysician 2025, what does that
mean?
It means that we're now at astage where physicians
experience five freedoms, and Iwant to tell you what those are.
Okay Now, the first freedom isthe freedom to practice medicine
on our terms.
Right, and so we were like, oh,you know, everybody controls
(03:37):
how we practice medicine and allof that, but I have so many
clients who have gone on tobuild private practices where
they're in control of how theypractice medicine, what is
aligned with what their goalsare for themselves, for their
family, and things like that.
I have people who work jobs, who still learn they're still my
clients, but they love theirjobs and this is what they're
doing and so they train asentrepreneurs and they're able
(03:59):
to negotiate again so they canpractice medicine on their terms
.
Okay, so 2025 is that yearwhere physicians will have the
freedom practice medicine ontheir terms.
Okay, so 2025 is that yearwhere physicians will have the
freedom to practice on theirterms, and I want you to embrace
that.
Okay, I'm going to be able topractice medicine on my terms.
The second freedom is thefreedom to live life on their
terms, right.
And so what happened when westarted the Entremity Business
(04:20):
School and started working withthe physicians?
They started building thesebusinesses, but we carried over
this mentality of if I wantsomething, I have to put
everything on my life on hold.
I have to give up my dreams andall of that to go for it.
Because for many of us, that'swhat we did for medical school,
that's what we did for residencytraining, for fellowship and
all of those things.
And I said no, no, not thistime.
This time we're going to buildour dream businesses, but that's
(04:43):
why you're in the EntremesBusiness School, but we're also
going to build our dream livesat the same time.
Now, what that means is, well,I have a version of my business
that I have right now and I canalso have a version of my dream
life that I live right now andas I get better, as I acquire
new skills I've been in the gamelonger and all of those things
then I have a second version ofmy dream business 2.0, 3.0, 4.0.
(05:05):
And I have the next version ofmy dream life 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 as
well.
So that's why you hear us saythat we are building dream
businesses and our dream livesconcurrently, right, and so
there are so many doctors whowill tell you, you know, for the
first time, you know, I wasable to go on a vacation for two
weeks, four weeks, six weeks.
We had a doctor who joined thebusiness school halfway through
(05:27):
last year and in the last fivemonths of the year she took six
weeks off and made almost doublethe revenue she made in the
first half of the year.
We have people who are going toschool to have lunches with
their kids.
We have a doc who it was veryimportant to her that she didn't
miss any of her kids'activities and she did not miss
any of her kids' activities.
That is the version of thedream life that they were living
(05:48):
at the time.
We have a doc who's like my dadis getting older.
I just want to go visit himonce a quarter.
He lived in a different stateand he was able to go and visit
his dad once a quarter.
Every single quarter, he woulddrive down to go spend time with
his dad.
That is them living life ontheir terms.
Okay, so what does this meanfor you?
Practicing medicine on yourterms, living life on your terms
(06:08):
.
What is the third freedom?
That is, time freedom, timefreedom we where are not having
time and being super busy andputting everything on hold as a
badge of honor which, in ourtraining, there's an element of
that that is needed but, oh mygoodness, not now, right, not
now.
And so we really challenge ourdoctors to buy back their time.
(06:30):
You buy back your time bydelegating.
You buy back your time byeliminating stuff.
You buy back your time byfinding out the activities that
you, and only you, can do andleaning in all that, using your
time strategically.
And I'm telling you that's whatmany of them did.
They bought their time back.
Why?
Because time is, and I'mtelling you that's what many of
them did.
They bought their time back.
Why?
Because time is a currency offreedom.
Really, it's time you need tospend time with your spouse, to
(06:52):
spend time with your family, tospend time with your aging
parents, to spend time to learna new skill, to spend time to
invest in a hobby.
All of these things requiretime, right, and so it's very
important we have significanttraining, like a lot of training
we do, on how to manage time, how to get things off your plate
and all of that.
The fourth freedom is financialfreedom, and this is where you
(07:14):
build your business, and youbuild a business that can create
financial freedom for you.
And so if somebody were to cometo you, like this happened you
know this happened a lot wherepeople say, oh, they decided not
to renew my contract at a job Iwas working, and we all go like
whoopee now you can do what youreally want to do.
Why is that?
Because there's financialfreedom.
There's financial freedom.
(07:34):
You're in control of yourfinances.
We are described asprofessionals who have golden
handcuffs on right, so we havethese salaries and they're just
enough that we don't cough.
We don't do anything right, like you know, because the
handcuffs are there, we justneed to keep them off.
And even as people who arerunning very successful
businesses, if you don'tunderstand the rules of the game
(07:57):
, you can even build a businessthat's a multimillion dollar
business, but there's nofinancial freedom attached to it
because the profit margins areso abysmal.
Right, and so financial freedomis something that we really go
into.
In fact, the later part of lastyear, we introduced something
we called RevCon in the EntremetBusiness School, where we just
come and talk about the moneyLike.
(08:19):
This is my goal.
This is where I am.
This is a challenge that I'mfacing.
How do we fix it?
And boom, we're just going oneafter the other, because we
don't treat money as a taboo, wedon't treat it as a topic we
don't talk about right, andwe're going to take it up a
whole notch.
They don't even know what'scoming in the school, but
they'll see and we're going totake it up a whole notch.
No-transcript, we don't putmoney before people, but money
(08:53):
is right there, right, money'sright there, and we're not going
to shy away from it.
Shying away from is what got uswhere we are.
Okay, so the fourth freedom isfinancial freedom, and the fifth
freedom is my favorite freedom, and that is the freedom of
purpose.
That means that I have built alife where I am free to pursue
what my passions are.
Passion is not quite the word, but there is this sense that
(09:16):
this is why I am here on thisearth.
This is the good I need to doin the world.
This is the legacy that I wantto leave.
But until you figure out thefinancial freedom and the time
freedom, you don't get the rightto chase down your purpose
right, because you have to takecare of those other two things,
and so imagine being in a statewhere you have freedom of
purpose.
You have freedom to pursuepurpose, and, for me, what I do
(09:39):
in EntreMD is part of mefulfilling why I think I'm alive
.
What I do when I'm pastoring, that's what I'm fulfilling, why
I think I'm alive.
It's just a magical place to bein, where you are just 100% in
alignment with why you're here, and 2025 is that year where
doctors begin to walk in thesefive freedoms, where this
becomes more of the norm, wherethis becomes the narrative for
(10:03):
physicians everywhere, and wherethe life that most physicians
live now becomes optional.
You don't have to do that.
You can have an alternatereality.
You can have these fivefreedoms right Now.
Are these five freedoms goingto drop in our lap?
They're not.
They're things that must bedone.
There is a price to pay, and Ihave paid it, and I have so many
clients who have paid it, andit is so worth it.
(10:25):
Okay, there is a reason why theOntario Business School has
been around for four and a halfyears, and there's a reason why,
four and a half years later, there are people who have been
in the school the entire time.
I have not left, and I meanit's because it's such a magical
place where this takes you toand they understand now.
Like, if I pay this price thatI'm going to tell you about and
I keep paying it things are justgoing to keep getting better
(10:47):
and better and better.
So many of them are in phaseswhere they're like, I cannot
believe that I'm this person.
Like when you think aboutsomebody going from employed
physician okay, employedphysician to running a two and a
half million dollar, $3 millionbusiness in three years, that
is just nuts.
(11:07):
When you see someone doublingtheir revenue in six months,
that is just nuts.
When you see a physician coachwho's like, oh my goodness, I
just had my first $200,000 ayear, that is nuts.
When you see someone say I justhit a million in revenue, it's
crazy.
But there's a process, there'sa price to pay and I want to
show you what it is because Idon't want you to be ignorant of
(11:29):
it and the price to pay is yourpersonal evolution.
I have seen so many doctors sayI just want to hire somebody
that will do all my marketingand organize my business and all
that stuff.
Really, what that person issaying I want to stay the same
and I want to throw money atthis problem and make it go away
.
I promise you it doesn't work.
I have been an entrepreneur forlong enough and I have coached
enough physicians for longenough to tell you that it does
(11:51):
not work.
You can get the template.
You can bring on the hire.
There are people who say I don'twant to have anything to do
with marketing, I just want tobring on a marketer.
You will never know if they'redoing a good job or not.
You will never be able to leadthem.
They're not going to be able toget your voice out of you
because you don't want to do thework for it.
Never going to have a messagethat's so authentic that drives
you know, that drives people tobuild you a dominant brand,
(12:14):
because your input is required.
People are like I don't want totalk about the money, I'm just
going to get a good biller.
You're never going to know ifthey're doing a good job or not.
You're never going to be ableto hold them accountable.
You're never going to be ableto hold them to higher standards
because you don't know whatthey should be doing in the
first place.
So people.
They would like to pay to makeit go away.
They'd like to get who willbring a template and just build
(12:39):
out their business, but notchange.
Your personal evolution is arequirement.
Your personal evolution is arequirement.
This is the price to pay.
You must become different.
You must become different, andwhen I say different, I don't
mean you change at your core, but what I mean is that the way
you think is different, yourexpectations are different, the
way you act is different.
This all has to change.
This is the hard work ofentrepreneurship.
(13:00):
So there's something thathappened, you know, when I first
started the EntrepreneurBusiness School.
And people will stay in and youknow that after three or six
months they're like okay, I goteverything I need and I'm out
and I'll try and talk with them.
And it hurt my heart.
It didn't hurt my heart becauseI'm losing a client.
It hurt my heart because I'mlike, oh my goodness, they're
bored in the process.
And that's not to say, you know.
Like I just want to be veryclear.
(13:20):
I recognize that as a quoteunquote problem that I have.
Like that doesn't mean there'sanything wrong with anybody
leaving or anything like that.
Like you know, I hope nobodytakes it that way.
I mean, it's something thatI've had to work on for myself,
because this is the problem Ihave.
The problem I have is like quoteunquote.
The problem I have is when Imeet somebody and they start
their journey ofentrepreneurship, I can see 10
(13:40):
years ahead.
I can see, oh my goodness, ifthey continue on this trajectory
, what can happen and all that.
And so sometimes people arewondering like, why is she so
excited that I just got my first$10,000 in revenue?
What's the problem?
Why is she so excited?
I hit my first million.
Now that's very exciting, rightand all.
But I'm like over the top isbecause I know that this makes
the next thing possible, whichmakes the next thing possible.
(14:01):
So I'm already like 10 yearsahead.
You know like, when I'm 10years ahead and someone's like,
okay, I'm done, I'm like no, no,don't do it Right.
So that's a me thing.
But what started happening is,you know, like now I'm so
grateful the school has beenaround for a while.
It's been around for four and ahalf years at this point.
And so people then come maybethey've been in the school for
two years, two and a half years, three years, four years, and
they're like.
(14:21):
You know, the first year in theschool was really all about me
becoming an entrepreneur.
It was all about fixing the wayI thought about things.
It was all about helping meovercome the mindset drama and
it was really in year two thatthings began to take off or
whatever.
But they recognize the internalwork is the real work, is the
(14:42):
hard work.
That's what my zone of geniusis helping physicians go from
physician to physicianentrepreneur, becoming the
person.
And so that's why I would tellthem I'm like many of you.
So many of you are going to beserial entrepreneurs because you
didn't come into the school andlearn how to start a practice
or take your practice to sevenfigures or multiple seven
figures.
You came into the entrepreneurbusiness school to learn to
(15:05):
become an entrepreneur first, and then you acquire the
strategies of entrepreneurs andthe habits and all of that stuff
.
So you become the person whobuilds businesses.
That's just what you do becauseyou're an entrepreneur Like
you're like completely revamped,if you will.
So your personal evolution isrequired.
Your personal evolution, youchanging, is required.
(15:27):
So hanging on to who you'vebeen, hanging on to your old way
of doing things, is going tohurt, you is going to cost you
is going to cost.
You've been hanging on to yourold way of doing things.
It's going to hurt you, it'sgoing to cost you.
It's going to cost you yourfive freedoms.
That's too expensive, if youask me, right?
Okay?
So your personal evolution, this is a must.
This must happen.
You must embrace this.
You must say, okay, who I'vebeen has brought me to where I
(15:49):
am, who I'm going to become me,2.0, 3.0, 4.0 is going to take
me into these five freedoms andit is a thousand percent worth
it.
Right?
Okay, your personal evolutionis what is required.
And let me tell you threethings.
You know like three things thatare required here.
Okay, you know, the first thing, when it comes, when, as far as
your personal evolution goes,is that you got to be willing to
(16:10):
invest in yourself.
I don't know what other way tosay this, but you have to be
willing to invest in yourself.
You've heard me tell my storymany times of the first time I
got introduced to this wholeconcept of investing in yourself
.
I'd read books, I'd listened topodcasts.
I've done all of those things, even had some courses that I had
done and things like that.
But as far as being in acontainer.
Being in a container for a yearthis particular one was 10
(16:31):
months and just doing the workweek in, week out, being held
accountable, being in thecommunity, all of those things.
I'd never done anything likethat, I never even knew it
existed.
And so the first opportunity Ihad to do it it's kind of like
anybody who's come in contactwith us or come in contact with
our events or podcasts and stufflike that I went for an event.
I was there.
It was a three-day event andthe first two days were like
(16:51):
literally magical.
I could not believe the thingsthat I had learned, the things I
had started doing, the way ofthinking that was completely
expanded.
And I remember like, okay, I'mgoing to go do all the things.
Right, that's what we say.
I've read the book and I'mgoing to go do the thing.
I've watched the course and I'mgoing to go do the thing.
And at the end of it there waslike oh, you can come, working
with us is only $43,000.
(17:13):
And I remember being so upset.
I was like $43,000?
What did they do?
Lace the program with gold.
What in the world?
Maybe upset was not the word.
I was shocked, I was confused.
I was like what.
But I'm so grateful that Istopped.
And I thought I said, but intwo days, right, in two days,
the level of transformation I'veexperienced doesn't even make
(17:34):
sense.
It's so wild, right.
And I talked to my husband.
My husband's like, yeah, go forit.
And it's not like I had $43,000sitting somewhere.
And so I got in on that programand I've not stopped investing
in myself since then.
Right, I recognize when I wantto change, I have to invest in
myself and put myself in acontainer that makes the change
(17:55):
a non, you know, like ainevitable.
My husband and I joke about itand we say that, wow, this is
the best money that we've everspent, right, like just best
$43,000 ever.
And so there's the books,there's a podcast, there's
workshops.
We are committed.
We're going to do a workshop ayear, in fact, at the time of
this recording.
So if you're listening to thisright when it was released, we
have an event, a workshop that'shappening, called the
(18:18):
Profitable Private PracticeWorkshop, with all the
challenges in private practice.
I know that, left to itself, there's so many more private
practices that are going to goout of business this year than
last year and we want to helpstall that.
If you want to win, we want tohelp you win.
And it all starts with aworkshop and it's called the
Profitable Private PracticeWorkshop.
It's entremdcom forward slashworkshop, january 13th to the
(18:38):
15th.
So go, save your spot.
And, beyond saving your spot, whether you're a private
practice or not, my goodness, take the link and share it with
everybody.
You don't even have toself-select, you don't have to
worry if they want to do it orwhatever.
Just take the link and share itwith everybody.
You know who's in privatepractice.
Why?
Because all hands are needed ondeck to bring the change that
we need to bring to thephysician community.
Okay, so we have books, we haveworkshops, we have the podcast,
(19:00):
we have events, we have EntreeMD Live that's coming up and we
have the Entree MD BusinessSchool.
We have like a gazillion ways ofhelping people.
Right, we have a gazillion waysand we do all five things.
Why?
Because all five things workand that's part of the
investment like time, resources, money that you need to make so
you can experience that personalevolution.
The second thing is that youhave to make a commitment that
(19:22):
I'm going to think differently, like holding on to the old ways
of thinking is just going tohurt us, right?
Like, oh, you know.
Like, yes, we build businessesand and you know, we don't make
any money?
No, no, like, absolutely not.
Why would you leave your family, go to work every day to go do
a business that will make nomoney, only so you can go work
another job to make more nomoney?
Now there is a phase in yourbusiness where you have to self
(19:43):
fund and things like that.
I'm not referring to that, I'mjust referring to willfully
agreeing to run a business thatdoesn't make money.
No, right, their thoughts like,oh, as a physician coach, you
can never replace your physiciansalary.
That is not true.
That is not true.
There's evidence that there'slike, absolutely, that is not
true.
Right, we have to get rid ofthat, right.
The expectation that, oh, youknow, I can't build a rockstar
(20:03):
team.
I can't build.
No, no, I'm not a greatentrepreneur.
No, we have to.
Us at all the way of thinkingof I suck at marketing.
What do you mean?
You sucked at everything thatyou do excellently now as a
physician, you sucked at all ofit.
You just decided this is whatneeds to happen and I'm going to
get good at it.
It's the same thing forentrepreneurship.
(20:25):
You're also going to make acommitment that you're going to
act differently.
So people tell me things likewell, I've never talked to a
referral source before, I'venever been on social media
before, I've never raised myprices before, I've never hired
a physician before, I've neverhired a business manager before,
I've never.
Okay, okay, there's always afirst time.
Let's make it the first time, because we're going to need to
act differently.
(20:45):
We must evolve.
If 2025 is going to be the yearof the physician, it's going to
be.
If it's going to be for you,it's dependent on if you choose
to evolve or not, which meansI'm going to invest in myself,
I'm going to think differently,I'm going to act differently.
Okay, if we refuse to actdifferently, refuse to think
differently, refuse to invest inourselves, it's just going to
be same old, same old and, truthfully, it was probably
(21:05):
going to be worse, right?
Like, look at the signs andtime, look at the handwriting on
the wall is probably going tobe worse, okay.
So this is the opportunity wehave is the year of the
physician.
If we choose.
This is available.
If we choose, I know, mygoodness, I hope you're saying
yes to this and you're choosing.
We've talked about the pricethat you're going to need to pay
.
You are going to need to evolve, which means you're going to
(21:25):
invest in yourself.
You're going to act differently, you're going to think
differently.
What is my commitment to you?
What is the commitment ofEntreeMD to you?
What is the commitment of DrUna to you?
My commitment is I'm going todo everything humanly possible
to see this become your reality.
We are going to have the bestevents that we've ever had.
(21:46):
We are going to release themost impactful podcast episodes
that we ever had.
We are going to release threevery powerful books this year
right, and we already have fourothers that are going to
completely rock your world.
The Entree MD Business Schoolwe're taking it up a whole notch
.
I had been looking forward tothe first person who will say I
had a million dollar month.
We got that last year and I waslike oh, thank you, jesus.
I've been waiting for this.
(22:06):
We are going to help our peopleget much bigger results.
Right, dream business at a muchbigger level, dream life at a
much bigger level right, that'smy commitment.
My commitment is I am going toevolve relentlessly,
consistently, like, in thebiggest way possible, so I can
be the biggest gift to thephysician community, the biggest
gift to you, to you.
(22:27):
I am going to do all I can tohelp you do what you need to do
for this to be the year of thephysician for you, okay.
So all I need from you is Ineed your commitment that you're
