Speaker 1 (00:00):
When you do this, you grow, you become wiser, you
become smarter, you become morestrategic, you become more
self-aware, you become moreaware of what works and what
doesn't.
Every week you're better, everyweek you're wiser.
Every week you make progress.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Hi docs, Welcome to the EntreMD podcast, where it's
all about helping amazingphysicians just like you embrace
entrepreneurship so you canhave the freedom to live life
and practice medicine on yourterms.
I'm your host, Dr Una.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
I found a startling statistic that shows that 92% of
people who set goals fail toaccomplish them, and when you
think about that, that is aridiculously ridiculous number,
and what that means is it's only8%, and we can consider these
people the creme de la creme, the elite and all of those
things, and I want to share withyou what I am doing to make

(00:53):
sure that I am part of the 8%,and I want to show you what you
can do so you're part of the 8%.
This is something that iswithin reach to everyone.
Okay, now the backstory of thisis you know, I have a training
that I do every morning withsome of my mentees in my
faith-based mentorship program.
That is a board meeting that wedo and you know, plan out our

(01:16):
week and all of those kinds ofthings, and I remember doing
this and I've done it for thispoint about three years or so,
and I had a big aha.
I stumbled on the next version, the next evolution of that
process, and I took it.

(01:36):
It was so powerful that I haddone it for a few days and I was
like there's no way I have tobe able to share this with the
people that I do this with, andas I did it, I was like no, I
have to share this with everyonein my world.
And so you may be an employedphysician it's kind of trying to
figure out you know what are mynext steps, and all of that or
you may be somebody who isrunning a multi seven figure

(01:58):
business.
This is a tool that's going tocompletely transform your life.
It is a tool that I am using.
I have made a commitment that Iam going to use it every 90
days for the next four years.
Okay, I'm going to use it every90 days for the next four years
, and at that point I'm going tocome back and evaluate and say,
okay, where do we go from here?
Okay, all right, so that toolis called the 20% coach.

(02:20):
Okay, it's called the 20% coach.
It's a journal, but I don'tcall it a journal because of the
power of it.
I want you to be aware that it'salmost as though you get
coached by me twice a week, andthat is literally what this tool
is.
And the overarching concept isthis If I have focus, and I have

(02:43):
focus week to week, I cancreate unbelievable results.
That is the first overarchingthought, like, if I can, if I
can be focused, and this toolallows me to do that.
The second thing is that thereare so many distractions and so
many shiny objects and all ofthose things, and there's so
many things we need to do right, like in any given day.

(03:04):
There are a lot of things to bedone and all of those things.
What this tool helps you do isthat it helps you prioritize,
and so, at every point in time, you're very clear these are the
most important things, these arethe most important actions that
will get me here.
These are the most importantways I need to be thinking and
all of that.
And so, in the midst of thingsbeing busy or things being

(03:25):
chaotic, or you're in the middleof a big week for something,
you're always clear on what themost important things to do are
and you get them done Right.
So I want you to think aboutliving a life where you have
focus, week to week, you're veryclear on what your priorities
are Like.
Think about the level oftransformation it will create.
That is literally what thistool does, and so it's called a

(03:48):
20% coach again, because it'slike I'm coaching you twice a
week and for me, what I'm goingto do is.
I'm going to use the tool.
I'm going to get better atusing the tool.
I'm going to help everybody inmy world use the tool, and I
want to invite you to do thesame.
I have my 10 year old and my 11year old using this tool as
well, if you can imagine that.
Okay, because I know mygoodness, if they use this and
they learn to get good at thisand they get better and better

(04:10):
at it, then what will happen is,by the time they're teenagers,
I mean like they'll be, likethey'll be so far ahead people
20, 30 years older than them.
This is a master skill todevelop.
Okay, all right, so let me breakit down.
So, this tool right here, it'sa journal and it's designed to
be used, like written in twice aweek.

(04:31):
Okay, and I'm just going tobreak down the segments, because
you just need to know what itis Right, and so, to start, it
has this it helps you set yourdetermination.
Okay, and so, on the page thatwould typically say, this
journal belongs to whatever.
This is what it says.
This 20% coach journal belongsto me.
I have signed up for radicaltransformation.

(04:53):
Over the next 90 days, everyweek, I will strategically work
with my 20% coach journal tocreate my best week.
Yet Everything is about tochange and I'm all in, okay, and
it has a place for you to signand to write your name and the
date and all of that, and reallywhat that does is it sets you
in this frame of mind that I'vesigned up for radical
transformation.
I'm going to change a lot overthe next 90 days.

(05:14):
Everything's about to changeand that's really the energy you
want to have as a person who isa high performer, a person
who's going to change theirlives, change their business,
change their industry, changetheir family all of that, okay.
So that's the starting point.
The next big section is asection for your annual goals,
and the reason why this isimportant is because I have
lived a life where, one year tothe next, I did not accomplish

(05:35):
any of my goals.
I was very busy, I was veryproductive, I did a lot of
things, but the actual goalsthat I set out to accomplish, I
accomplished none of them, andthe reason for that is there was
no connection between what Idid day to day and week to week.
There's no connection betweenthose and my annual goals.
Right, my annual goals.
I wrote them in December.
I forgot about them and thenjust went about life, and it was
that year that was a bigturning point for me, because

(05:56):
that's when I really became astudent of time management,
became a student of goal settingand all of those things,
because I'm like this is amaster skill.
You can literally waste a year.
Now, it wasn't a waste for me,but you see what I'm saying,
like, you can optimize it, youcan get the most out of it, or
you can get nothing out of it.
Right, even though this is a 90day journal, we have your

(06:17):
annual goals right, right there,in all nine areas of your life,
so that you can set those thereand every week you're referring
to those before you work yourplan for the week, so that that
way, every day is aligned to theweek, which is aligned to the
month, which is aligned to thequarter, which is aligned to
where you're trying to go yourannual goals in the first place.
Okay, all right.
So you have a spot for yourannual goals.

(06:37):
You have a spot where it'sbroken down to your 90 day goals
.
So, out of everything I want todo for the year, what portion
do I want to capture over theover this 90 day block, okay,
okay.
And then after that, it has oneof my favorite parts, which is
the personal improvement plan, and I just want you to think
about what your life would be ifyou're, if you're, using this
system and you're thinking thisstrategically every 90 days,

(06:59):
okay.
So you have your personalimprovement plan and this is all
about reading, about reading, and so the recommendation here
is read one to two books a month, and that will put you at three
to six books for the 90-dayperiod, and this is the quote
here.
You will be the same in fiveyears as you are today, and I
want you to think about thatthought before you even think

(07:20):
about the rest of the statement.
Imagine five years from nowbeing the same.
That is horrible, I mean.
You'll be alive, you'll havefamily, all this stuff.
You'll be okay.
But the thing is theopportunity cost.
It's about what could have beenright, and we have so much
potential, we have so much togive, we have so much evolution
we can do, so our lives can beso much better, so we can have

(07:41):
so much more of our time back.
We can have so much more impact.
There's so much opportunity, and so you will be the same
person in five years as you aretoday, except for the people you
meet and the books you read.
And so, if that's the case, Iwant to meet really high quality
people, I want to read reallygreat books.
This is why, again, with theEntremet Business School, one of
the things we did is we builtthis fantastic community because

(08:02):
I want people to change.
Just that alone, therelationships they build alone,
will be worth their tuition inthe school, other than what I do
or the world-class mentorshipthat they get.
And so this will put and thatquote is by Charlie Jones and so
this will put you in a positionwhere you're doing three to six
books, okay, over the course.

(08:22):
But this is the kicker For eachsection, you have the book, the
name of the book, the author ofthe book, you have your top
three lessons from the book, like you could have learned 1
million things from the book.
But what are your top threelessons from the book?
Right, and why is thisimportant?
Because if you learn threethings from every single book
that you can capture, you cancrystallize and have it in this

(08:42):
journal that you can keep andrefer back to, and all of those
things.
That is a very powerful thing.
And the next thing is what thetop three actions I will take
based on what I read.
Again, if you read a book amonth and you take three actions
, that is 36 new actions, newstrategic actions in your life
and business, you cannot remainthe same.
If you read a book a month,that's 12.

(09:04):
If you read two books a month, then we're talking about 24.
You cannot remain the same ifyou do that right, and so this
way, you're not just reading thebooks absentmindedly, or
reading and probably forgettingabout it, because you know you
have to crystallize these threethings.
You pay better attention, youget the highest level value from
the books you're reading, okay,so you have the spot for that.

(09:24):
Now you have one of my favoritespots, okay, and that is a two
page document where you'relooking at my best week yet Now.
So this is something that youcome back to every single week,
okay, every single week.
You know, at the start of theweek for some people is Sunday,
for some people is Monday whenyou come there first of all, it
says my best week yet.
So you're already programmingyourself and wiring yourself

(09:46):
Like every week is my best week, yet Every week is my best week.
Yet I make more progress, Iexperience more evolution, I
upgrade my skills, I have biggerresults, I have a bigger impact
and all of those things right.
My life is becoming more ofwhat I want it to be.
So what do we do?
Every week, we come and we looklike what are our top three
wins from the previous week?
This is so important becausemost people think it's not

(10:07):
working.
They're preoccupied by theconstruction site that is their
business.
They're very preoccupied withwhat is not working, so much so
that a lot of times, we're inthe middle of one of the best
seasons of our lives, in themiddle of a miracle, and we
completely miss it because we'renot looking at that.
And so this forces you to stopand look back and say, okay,
what great stuff happened lastweek, right, okay, and then the

(10:28):
top three goals for the week, and, of course, you can have
more goals than that.
But this tool is about capturingthe most important things.
It's about capturing your 20%right, the things that move the
needle the most.
It's about prioritizingproperly.
So if I gave you space to writeseven things, you write a lot
of things.
If I give you space for threethings.
You write better things.
That's the point.

(10:49):
You write much better things, okay, so three goals for the
week and then for each of thosegoals, the top three actions.
That will get me the resultsright, because a lot of times
people have the goals but theydon't break it down to a pathway
, so the goals can never becomea reality because there's
nothing they're working on dayto day to get there.
So here you have the top threeactions for each goal and then
you go ahead and schedule thosein your calendar, so those

(11:09):
become calendar items.
You do them.
Those actions are so strategicbecause they help you accomplish
your top three goals.
Those top three goals are mostaligned with your nine day goals
, with your year goal and all ofthat.
So you become this verystrategic, very focused person.
Okay, and then I have anothersection.
What is the top three ways I'mgoing to show up?
Right, and if you think aboutit, sometimes maybe you're a

(11:32):
leader and you have a team.
You're a private practice.
You have a big team and you'rea negative person, and when you
think about it, then your teamunderperforms because they're
led by somebody who's thethermostat of the company and
keeps it at a negative setting.
And so you're like, okay, I'mnot going to show up that way,
I'm going to show up positive,I'm going to show up casting
vision.
I'm going to show up castingvision, I'm going to show up
energetically.
I'm going to show up, I'm goingto be empathic, like whatever

(11:53):
that is like.
You know the ways you showed upthat are costing you, have
costed you.
And now you're like, okay, I'mnot going to show up that way
anymore.
You have the opportunity towrite the top three limiting
beliefs that have stopped you,and again you can look back.
The last time I had goals likethis, what stopped me?
What is that negative chatter?
So now it's not this thing ofyou know, oh, my mind, my mind,
drama.
No, you call you name, you nameand shame.

(12:14):
Okay, you name and shame thosenegative thoughts and all those
things, and then you can choosein advance.
These are the top threeempowering beliefs I'm gonna
focus on instead Now, when youthink about these things, I just
want you to think about thisright, if you do this every week
, what happens to you?
What happens to you every week?
If you're so strategic, youknow it's working because you
looked at the wins, you knowyour action, you know your goals

(12:37):
.
You know the actions that willtake you there.
You've decided ahead of timehow you're going to show up.
You've decided ahead of timethe limiting beliefs that
typically come for you and howyou're going to overcome them.
And these things are all linkedto your 90-day goal and your
annual goal, so they're verystrategic.
Imagine doing this every week.
Right, and that is the reasonwhy we created this tool, and so
it's called the 20% Coach.
You can get it on trainmdcomforward slash journal, okay, and

(13:01):
then you can grab your copy.
But this is something that isgoing to radically change your
life.
Okay, all right.
Now I said this was my favoritepart, my next favorite part.
So this you would do at thestart of the week, the first
part, the part we talked about, but at the end of the week
you're going to come and you'regoing to reflect on the week.
Now, when I talk to the doctorsin the Ontario Business School
about this, I tell them that youcan tap into the wisdom of your

(13:23):
experience by reflecting.
And if you don't reflect, youhave the experience but you
don't have the wisdom, rightLike.
You have the experience but youdon't have the wisdom, right,
like so.
There's no return on investmenton the experience.
If you become a person who canreflect even the experiences
that were bad quote unquote youcan learn from them, you can

(13:44):
reflect on them and learn fromthem such that they're going to
end up giving you wisdom thatwill make it where it's no law.
It was not a disadvantage, because you learned some really
powerful lessons from it.
Right, okay, you're looking atyour ahas for the week, your
reflections like what did youlearn?
And there's some prompts herelike you know, what did I learn
about myself?
What did you learn aboutyourself?
Stop and think, like the way Ishowed up, the way different
things affected me, things thatwere triggers for me, things

(14:05):
that energized me to do what Ineeded to do, and all of that
Like, what did you learn aboutyourself?
Another prompt here is whatworked this week?
Right, of all the strategiesthat I employed, what actually
worked, because the principlehere is do more of what works
and less of what doesn't, and ifyou don't know what works, then
you can't be more strategic.
There's no way to be.
A lot of times when people talkabout results they want to hit

(14:25):
in their business and all ofthat stuff.
I always start from what hasworked before, right, okay, what
did I procrastinate or avoidthis week, and why?
Right.
And you look at that like wheredid I procrastinate?
So you can call it out, so youcan figure out why you did it,
so you can figure out how toovercome it, so you can stop
doing it, so you can create theresults.
And then this is one of the mostpowerful questions.

(14:46):
It is if I were to start thisweek over, what would I do
differently?
It is, if I were to start thisweek over, what would I do
differently?
So I woke up.
It was a dream and it wasn'treally the.
You know, let's say, the 27thof the month.
I'm going all the way back.
It's now the 18th of the month.
I get to do this week over.
What would I do differently?
Because there you get to pullthe wisdom of the experience and
, going into the new week, youcan be a new person, you can

(15:12):
show in a new way.
Right, and so doing this, whatthis does is it puts you in a
position where your actions arereally strategic, your actions
are really aligned, you're veryclear on your priorities, your
work, your priorities, and so,yes, you may have many things to
do, but in the midst of thosemany things, you are really
focused on the top three things, and those things are getting
done.
If you must procrastinate onsomething, it is not the top
three things that are gettingprocrastinated, so it makes you
do that and it makes you stop.

(15:33):
So maybe you do this onSaturday, right?
Maybe do it on Saturday, or youdo it on Friday or do it on
Sunday All depends, right?
But you're doing this at theend of the week and I do
recommend doing it on adifferent day from the actual
goal setting.
When you do this, you grow, youbecome wiser, you become smarter
, you become more strategic, youbecome more self-aware, you
become more aware of what worksand what doesn't, and all of

(15:55):
those things.
And so if you do that, thatmeans every week you're better,
every week you're wiser, everyweek you make progress.
The version of you that thengoes to do it for the next week
is smarter, is wiser, isstronger, is more strategic.
And so you're building andbuilding, and building and
building.
You know, I really struggledwith the thought of do I make

(16:15):
this a year long thing?
Do I make this a 90 day thing?
But the thing with year longthings is it's hard to grasp a
year, right?
But you can grasp 90 days, andso I want you to imagine doing
this every week, twice a week, for 90 days.
What would happen is it's notjust growth, it's exponential
growth, right?
Because look at it this way youdo it for week one, that's you

(16:38):
1.0.
At the end of the week, you're2.0, okay.
So you do it for the next week, and then at the end of that
week, you're now you 3.0, then4.0, then 5.0, then 6.0.
So it's not just you buildingon you, it's you building on
better versions of you, right?
So when I first discovered this,I was so excited I started
doing it.
I was like no, this is notpossible, I cannot do this by

(16:59):
myself.
And so I made this into ajournal and started sharing it
with the people who come with meon those Mondays to set goals
and do all of these things.
And then I looked around.
I was like this is impossible.
And I started sharing withpeople in the EntreeMD Business
School people in scale and thenI found out it's a tool for
everybody in my world.

(17:20):
I have my children.
My children are 17, 15, 11, and10.
My 10 and 11-year-old.
They're working this journalbecause I'm like, oh my goodness
, if they can learn how to dothis, how strategic would they
be when they're 14 and 15, right, like, just think about it.
Right?
And so this is a tool that Iknow because I I'm already

(17:40):
excited in anticipation of theversion of me that I'm going to
meet after I've done this for 90days.
Right, I made a commitment.
I said over the next four years, I will do this every week,
twice a week, every week.
Over the next four years.
That means I'm going to end upwith 16 of these journals and it
will be so interesting to goback and look at what the
limiting beliefs were, to lookat the wins I was celebrating,

(18:02):
to look at, you know, theactions I was taking, the things
that I've now delegated andgotten off my plate as opposed
to doing them myself.
I think it will be a really funtool, like 10 years from now,
to give to my children, to sayyou can literally go from where
you are to become anything thatyou know God has equipped you to
be because, and especially, leveraging this system, and I
can say you looking at mommy now, but this was mommy 10 years

(18:25):
ago, right, I think that will besuch a powerful tool and for
them, it will be so powerful forthem to see that Right.
And so you know, I want toinvite you.
I want to invite you.
This is, this is a tool that Iam convinced this is some work
that 10 years from now, 20 yearsfrom now, 40 years from now, 50
years from now, people stillwalk up to me and say, dr Una,

(18:48):
everything changed for me when Istarted doing this.
And I have the people in thebusiness school doing it.
I have everyone in my world, mymentees, everybody, everybody
doing this.
Okay, so what do I want you todo?
I want you to go on tramdcomforward slash journal.
I want you to go entremedycomforward slash journal.
I want you to go get your copyOkay, it's for 90 days and we'll
let you know when it's time toreorder.
It's all there in the book andstuff like that.

(19:09):
I want you to grab your copy.
I want you to do it every week.
Okay, I want you to do it everyweek.
I don't want, I don't want youto say, oh, you know, I know
this stuff Like, please don'tsay this.
I was actually talking with afriend of mine and this friend
of mine, I mean like she's agazillionaire Okay, she's a
gazillionaire.
And when I started telling herabout it she was like you know,
you and I we're ultra successfuland we understand that it's not

(19:33):
some complex thing that createsthe big results, it's the
simple things, the basic things, the fundamentals, done with
mastery right, it's mastery ofthe fundamentals.
And she says you know, peoplestill walk up to me and they
want to know what the thing is.
And I'm like you know, likethey expecting something really
complicated and all of that, andthey're just like that's it

(19:54):
Right.
And so I want to, I want you todo this every week, like fully,
all in, do it.
And I want you to do it betterevery week, so not just coming
back and doing the same exactthing, because, remember, the
you is new.
Now it's a new you.
And I want you to up-level theway you use the tool.
Because, guess what, if youthink about the person who
couldn't make the NBA because ofyou know, they just weren't a

(20:16):
good player and you think aboutMichael Jordan, guess what they
both had in their hands?
A basketball, guess where theyboth had to put it In a basket.
So it's not about like the toolis great, but I want you to
approach the great tool with anupgraded version of you every
single time.
So use the tool, use the toolbetter every time and then get

(20:40):
everybody in your world usingthe tool.
You've wondered how you caninfluence your family, how you
can influence your community, how you can influence your
industry.
Get them using the tool withyou.
Give them this podcast episode, share it with them.
Have them get the tool, buy itfor the people in your world,
because what will happen at theend of the day, your network is

(21:02):
your net worth, and so one ofthe things I do is I constantly
put myself in bigger and biggerrooms, but I also constantly
up-level the network that I dohave, because if they're all
up-leveled, then my up-levelingis exponential.
It's not just with what I can do, right, okay, so get your copy,
do it every week, do it betterevery week, get everybody in

(21:24):
your world doing it.
And when you get your copy, doit every week, do it better
every week, get everybody inyour world doing it, and when
you get your copy, share with us.
