What’s up y’all of little faith and welcome to season 2, episode 18 of TFP!

I’m your hostess, not your Moses, Mat Hayes, and if I’m still giving you episodes, it means that I am still looking for peace in the unknown.

Y’all, if you follow anything about my life, you’ll know today’s guest.

Daniel Robaire is one of my dearest friends. We met when we played husbands and fathers on an episode of Jane The Virgin back in 2017. Our characters were literally named Upset Dad #1 and Upset Dad #2. We hit it off and have been close ever since.

He also played my husband in my award winning film, Cognitive, that swept the festival circuit, and in a roundabout way, led me to doing this podcast!

Daniel is a fabulous and hilarious actor, but during Covid, like everyone else, we lost our industry. As creatives, we went crazy because we didn’t have anywhere to express our inner creative. Daniel literally picked up a paintbrush for the first time during the very early days of lockdown, and he is now a renown watercolor artist known as Robert Maurice, specializing in male nudes. He of course does other subjects, but his homoerotic artwork is absolutely incredible.

In this episode you’ll hear all about how he got started in discovering this hidden talent, and how it informs his relationship with his other artistic endeavors.

This guy, for better or for worse, is family. I love him dearly and I’m excited for you to get to know him better as well.

Welcome to the show, my forever Upset Dad, Daniel Robaire.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
