Dr. Jody Carrington is a powerhouse speaker and fearless champion for authentic human connection. She is highly sought after for her expertise, energy and genuine approach to helping people solve the most complex human-centred problems. This rapidly disconnected world is leaving so many of us overwhelmed, lonely, and burned out. Dr. Jody boldly believes that all humans have the capacity for good; however, so many of us these days, because of isolation and burnout, have lost access to that good.Dr. Jody’s work often involves understanding just how we got to this disconnected place, what we need to put the pieces back together, and maybe most importantly, how we collectively do "the work" to find our way back home again when (not if) we lose our way. Her authentic, honest, and often hilarious approach never fails to inspire and motivate audiences.

Jody's Notes from the Sidelines:

  1. Turning 50 can make you question everything!
  2. Historically, everyone has always wanted to keep the facade of having it all together. But with social media, we've never had this much access to comparison.
  3. We don't have enough time to defend ourselves if we put anything other than perfection out there.
  4. When we get out of our heads and bodies, and tune in to the millions of opinions in the universe, we lose access to the best parts of ourselves.
  5. If you are emotionally dysregulated, it doesn't matter how much healthy stuff you do, it's a waste of time. We are not designed to take in the amount of noise we do, so we spend most of our times hyperaroused... in fight or flight... survival mode.
  6. We need to get deliberate about spending quality time with others, without the distraction of tech, because we are just not that good.
  7. Drop your shoulders, drop your tongue, wiggle your toes. It tells the body you are safe and allows access to generations of wisdom held within.
  8. We are neurobiologically wired for connection.
  9. Try 5 minutes of stillness per day.
  10. If we're not good at emotional regulation, we're probably also not good at apologizing. But we can get better at both.
  11. Burnout isn't a function of the work you do; it's a reflection of your capacity, or lack thereof, to refuel.
  12. Social media isn't social. You see what aligns with your values and not the other millions of opinions out there.
  13. Don't try to address stress when you're in the middle of it.
  14. Be kind and don't tolerate BS.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
